I came back to the game because of the statement above!!! But Now I am about to leave again because it was a blatant LIE!!! Give us small scale PvP in the Form of Smaller Guilds Like 10 MAX like you said in this BLATANT LIE ABOVE or enjoy your dead game!

Personally, I enjoy the colonies system, I think it is far better than Empires. However, there needs to be one large change made to it. (I play on PvE) Settlers "Settlers" should have to be accepted by the island owners using a system similar to inviting to a company. This would foster communication and cooperation between island owner and settler, where right now that isn't particularly the case. If they are not accepted as a settler or are just visiting the island, then anything they place should have a 24 hr timer on it that auto decays once the timer has run out. This allows people to still travel and set up temporary outposts / taming pens but nerfs their ability to troll. I've had several Chinese players show up to my small coast and thatch foundation spam me for no reason other than to troll. This would help to nerf griefers with an automated system that doesn't require Moderators to step in. It also prevents ugly trash buildings and keeps the environment more "natural". Anchoring at Foreign Islands Along with the thatch foundation spam I've gotten, multiple ships from individual Chinese players have parked all around my waterfront building preventing me from finishing my small build. They have parked in my shipyards, attempted to block my Galleons in with rafts, and more. Ships anchored at Islands owned by another Company should have to pay a docking fee for being there after X amount of time. If that fee isn't paid then a timer to declaim the ship should start, that way if they never return for their ship (I'm looking at you Rafts and Ramshackle Sloops) the Island Owners can simply claim and demolish the ship, or keep it if they wish. Obviously larger ships would have larger timers, similar to the piracy system of claiming ships now.

Everything you harvest with tools, so that includes stone, metals etc. I tested it out already and definitely see a very welcomed increase. Not sure about corpse harvesting though, haven't tested that.

I would suggest just putting down some foundations in the area you want to build to secure it. Then you'll have all the time in the world to build in that spot as long as you keep the upkeep going on the flag.
  7. 2 points
start demoing their stuff and if they are that way inclined good luck keeping the island clear of spam as they will more than likely just spam the crap out of the island so u cant keep up with keeping it clear , so be careful what u do ,
  8. 2 points
Cant Change it anymore but u can demolish their stuff within 12 hours After its been Build. After that u Need to wait for the decay system

Have you created an accordian but don't have the ability to play it? Check out my Autohotkey song macro tool: http://delayatlas.com/songmaker All you have to do is install Autohotkey, create your song, copy the text to a text editor and save the text with the .ahk extension like "mysong.ahk". Double click the file and press F12 or whatever toggle key you chose, and your character will start playing the song! The toggle key will pause/unpause the script. For example, this is the Lazytown You Are a Pirate song: r--r--gdsa--rrrrdrgiii--rrrrdrgdsa--a--g-hg-r---

Of all the random environmental effects, fog is the most obnoxious. It's not fun and it's not a challenge. If you're hunting ghost ships, whales or players and fog hits, the best thing you can do is drop sail and check your various social media sites and maybe The Onion (in fact, I'm typing this while waiting through the third fog in 30 minutes). If you're going from point A to B, you just ignore the fog and travel via map; and if you're looking for something - well, the game has just politely asked you to stop doing that for a while. The only possible use for fog might be as a means of stealth through heavily PvP'd regions. There is a value to that, but good grief, it shouldn't occur literally every 10 minutes. Make it rare, but maybe last all day, and announce it the day before: "Tomorrow will be very foggy!" etc.. That way, the blockade runners can prepare, and the rest of us can spend the day RPing on shore or something.

The names of plants and mineral resources are mostly mixed up. As if names are pulled randomly from a database for any given resource node regardless of visuals. E.g. A grey metal node that visually looks like a genuine piece of granite is named "Stone (Pure Copper)" and yields Cobalt(metal). Expected behavior would be: Node looks like granite, displayed name is "Stone (Granite)", yields granite(stone) Another metal node looks like an piece of iron ore (grey with red streaks) but only yields stone, flint and cobalt. expected: node that already looks like iron ore, is respectively named "Metal(Iron Ore or Pure Iron)", yields Iron(metal) Another stone node is bright white and looks like calcite but is labeled as "pure radiolarite" yields only that but no calcite. Same with wood types: Trees that very much look like oaks and acorns yield softwood or lightwood, while a palm sapling returns strongwood. resource bark looks like rushes. an obvious cotton plant yields rushes while visually recognizable rushes or fronds yield cotton. fronds yield hemp, bamboo yields jute and so on... Very few truly obvious nodes are named right, like strawberries or coconuts. You got all the pieces available already (graphics, text, resource source code) you only have to put them together in the right order, connect the text strings with the right objects. I know this is quite a minor issue since it doesn't break anything but immersion, BUT it would enrich the game somewhat if what you see is what you get. PS: I tried to attach a screenshot but it wouldn't let me.

Look, Grapeshot. You guys are not the best at schedules, but its OK, there's plenty of folks complaining about that. I wanted to say big ups to Grapeshot Games. Trying new things, not afraid to wipe an EA situation, that's awesome. Fixing broken stuff requires testing, trying things out, and you guys have the kohones to do it. Much respect. Put that on top of really listening to your community, and I gotta say Big Ups. You realized NA Empires wasn't going well, you heard folks crying about not enough islands for small companies in PvE and no NA Server. You took the steps to fix this quickly, and gave a lot of us a great holiday in the process. Sure, there's bugs. Sure, some folks didn't come out ahead on this change, but overall - really nice. I know most people only come to forums when they're upset, so I wanted to say my piece. Great job! Myk

Yes, I'm very aware of why it was designed. There are probably 500 posts complaining about the original claim system, then the next one after that, and now this one. Many of them are mine. But that's why it was designed, not how it was designed. It was designed to give landlords control over who built on the island, and indirectly, where they could build and how they could build. The developers seem to think that this answers the problem of people not being able to claim land, and that people will be able to find a landlord that suits their playstyle as well as buildable land that suits them. They never said every landlord would allow every tenant to build anywhere, and it's ridiculous to expect that will happen. That's still why it was designed, and even then you're wrong about that. Nobody ever said any player could build on any island in any biome and that nobody would have to use leftover land nobody wanted. It's a ridiculous notion, but if you want to argue it, put up a dev quote. Why would they put in a system that allows landlords to destroy your builds if that were true? I don't think this even helps solos and small companies, really. There aren't enough 15 pt. islands for them, for one thing. All of what you said here has to do with how you want the design to work, not how they actually designed it to work. Surprisingly, I agree with you,. They should have just kept the claim system and put limits on it, If you take a stroll back through the past 3 months of forum posts you'll see me, as well as a ton of other people arguing that exact thing. In pve, it used to be called griefing if a player destroyed someone's stuff, or a player annoyed another player by spamming pillars at them or building right over the top of them. Now it's no longer griefing, it's a design point, and the devs have added it to the game on purpose. So now we're stuck playing with the design they implemented. You can't go around calling people assholes for playing the game the way the devs designed it to be played. It's more appropriate to call them names for designing such a rotten system, although I wouldn't recommend that. Your beef is with the design, not the players who, like you, are stuck with it.

I think the devs should get a pr person, they keep shootting themselves in the foot when ever they "decide" to change something, I mean first u dont release pve na "for a couple weeks" for empire pvp, screwing over the pve people, Then randomly on Easter weekend when most people are on vacation u give a 12 hour noticed u changed your mind, probably because there are no empire players.... so if u happened to read and where home not on vacation u got one of the cheap islands that dont take a tribe of 1000 members to buy.... screwing over those that dont read this website every hour. First the point system is stupid, you get 30 points for a company plus 2 per member.. so to claim land most islands are 50 plus, meaning u need 10 plus members to put a claim down, completely ruining this game for solo or small tribes, unless there are ways to get points, they never explain how to do anything in this game, the devs still cant even write basic descriptions of stuff in it. the vit system and food is crazy lame, I swim to one end of my boat and back and i am exhausted and sit and wait to recover and my food drops to 0 so i eat, 1 min maybe 2, rinse and repeat i need to eat another 20 steaks, or 100 berries or what ever,. all my vits are completely maxed before i take damage and now i am hungry again, all in less then 5 mins of playing this is super broken, I dont know what u changed from the first version but u need to fix it, I shouldnt have to eat 500 times a day, a normal human can eat 3 times a day and be good i spend more time eating then i do getting wood, i cant even fill my inventory up from cutting trees before i have to stop and eat its stupid over taxing and its ruining the concept of the game... my boat.... my boat is stuck... i can swim under my boat but my ladder is touching the ground so my whole boat is stuck, tried to back up, tried to circle its just stuck, This is stupid, Every animal collects berries.... Why? I am hitting a tree with a giraffe and i collect 1000 berries on the ground, that i am not even hitting, this is stupid.... please let us turn off berry collection 50,000 berries doesn't do me any good

I had a lighthouse yesterday, I know I did because I had put oil into it so it was shining like a beacon of hope. Today I log in and the lighthouse is missing. This is bad. I knew that some of the trees in my area were not the same as the others, but I didnt know they were Ents. No other reason why the entire lighthouse would walk off. No log messages in my company either. Oil is cheap and so is a lighthouse, but I dont want to put one down only to have it walk off again. Though I also dont seem to be able to find the lighthouse engram anymore either. Maybe they made a mistake with the last patch and removed them from the game by accident.

Set up a breeding pen in E5, literally doesn't go below 7 degrees. Bred 4 bears there now, can also set up a potato farm so you don't have to worry about food. I feed them till they can hold 500 potatoes and thats it barring imprinting. They haven't had any cold or warm weather spurts once whilst being there, this zone is literally heaven for bear breeding and it's lawless so you can go dump up a building without worrying about island owners getting annoyed. Swings between 7 and 16 degrees, planning on testing horses there too. Update on horse breeding here, 5 campfires lit at all times means no damage to your horse from cold or warm weather. Take an elephant, fill the campfires to the brim and enjoy your horse when it's grown.

Yes to this. Throughout all of the changes I would say at least some peopl likes the changes no matter what. but with this upkeep of the player shops I haven’t seen even one person stand up and say they like the 1400 upkeep. Map in reality if 100% of the people dislike something you would think they would instantly change it. This is surprising. hell I even saw a couple of people that were fine with them adding the metal and sap to the stone structures lmao. Not one damn person likes the 1400 upkeep

I think the giraffe should be able to see over the fog layer That way, all prepared ships will have at least one giraffe on deck. When people say "OMG, You're havin' a Giraffe...", you could reply "hell yeah, ain't nobody pullin' the fog over my eyes!".... OK OK I confess. Too much coffee today. Forgive me!

And while you are at it.. get rid of the no wind events or reduce the amount of times we get it. That one is even worse.

The weather needs some work. For one thing, it changes too fast - hot one minute, freezing the next, sometimes both at once....everybody has to keep an entire wardrobe of clothes around and change more often than a victorian socialite. I don't think the fog's too awful. It adds a little risk when sailing if you're trying to avoid SOTD, and shallow coastlines with rocks, but fog should roll in, it doesn't just appear in a flash out of nowhere. I was hoping the tarot skill line would have weather prediction or even some weather control in it.

i took out a lvl 56 galleon yesterday took almost 400 cannons kiting it with a 9 cannon back loaded brig, i took zero damage but ran out of ammo so could not kill the 2 other galleons in the pack i missed maybe 2 in 10 salvos with most shots all 9 landing but most of the time 5 of 9 landed, only got 1.5 lvls out of it which is kinda pointless
  25. 1 point
yeah i told them on twitter, the fog is ridiculous. but guess what, they don't read twitter. they don't care about gameplay aswell, it will stay a sandbox pirate survival ark clone, and not an Fantasy-MMO... tbh it has nothing from an MMO... i am pretty pissed how the game is now but well, it's not my baby.

XO Well that makes it useful instead of entirely worthless.
  27. 1 point
Then it would still make sense to reduce it during the early stages, especially for PvE. There is no need to form large companies in PvE, and from the people i met so far it is a lot of small groups of rl friends mostly. With the exception of "endgame" content there is no need for large companies.

Atlas "the ultimate fantasy pirate adventure" where the ultimate goal is acquiring the best online Tamagotchi...
  29. 1 point
You can indeed utilize multiple PC's to setup a cluster, as a real basic starting point i'd consider the following: Allow up up to 5GB of memory per grid (assuming you have no more than 6 islands) Allow 1 Physical CPU core per grid minimum. This can potentially be streched if you have newer processors and drop the server tick rate. As for the server setup, you would install ATLAS on each physical box and then choose one to run the Redis DB and point the others too it. Plan your ports, e.g - Game: 11000 Query: 12000 Seemless: 13000 RCON: 14000 then increase each number by 5 as you work your way though your servers. As a real world example, I run a 5x5 on a new 16 core CPU with 128GB of memory. At idle CPU usage is around 30-40% and memory around 98GB. These figures do increase as players jump on so you need to allow for extra headroom. As for hosting a 15x15 on a single grid - It would be possible, but you would need some considerable hardware. Something like a quad socket server housing the soon to be released 64 core AMD EPYC chips and over 1TB of memory. So nothing viable

Absolutely agree. I just left ark and atlas because it was impossible to play in a mega-tribe environment. I returned to atlas because that promise of a rule-based game for SOLO PLAYERS AND SMALL CLANS. And now reality demonstrates that it was a huge lie. Don’t you see the number of players going down day by day? It’s because most players want what you promised: a rule-based game for solo players and small to medium size clans. And they see you didn’t keep your promise.

I actually found a way to tame them easy, I've tamed multiple elephants since, just make a trap made out of fence foundations and a gate, and do approach them from belly side, crouch and look at mouth when feeding. I haven't died a single time while taming them since doing this. Making traps without foundations beneath the animal seems to be the way. And if you do have problems with them hitting you just approach quickly, feed, back off and wait.

+1 to the OP. It was an exploration game if you wanted it to be, those who opted to bury themselves in a Wiki were only ruining that aspect for themselves, now none of us have the option. Maybe a revealed map raises the floor for all players in PVP, but in PVE it takes away one of the four foundations of fun.

Pack is fun to fight but not fun if you use rear cannons strategy. We use armoured brig with broadside and can takedown pack of 5 without losing a plank.

Reboot empires with colonies rules, cap company limit at 25-50. Limit alliance function further or even get rid of it. Current pvp servers will be gost towns in a week. Will the megas end up going there anyways? Yes. But they have the numbers to zerg. Do they need in game built in advantages as well? Why should the devs artificially stear the majority of players towards a playstyle they dont want. Is the playerbase growing atm? Or is it stagnant ? Decreasing?

Was my first thing in my mind I read his post. Because yeah. We got a claim and are happy. All of the unhappy posts here comes from the people who don't have a claim. But you all knew, that it will become a race for the islands. We knew about and where prepared. It was stressful, lot of people cross-talking in the TS and at least, after 5am we claimed. The heads smoked, hurted and all where done and close to fall asleep. But we claimed. All of us working 100% and we all had a not so funny day after but we claimed. To all of you, single player or small groups (I.e. playing with a friend or two): Try to find a company to fit in, not a island to claim.

Per Patch Notes " - The higher quality shipyard used when building a ship, the more level ups a ship will be able to obtain. " The higher tier shipyards are broken in terms of leveling. We play on a private and our server admin confirmed the issue with extensive testing. Testing method. Our server admin dropped a normal shipyard and was able to inject XP and get the ship to max level. Our server admin then spawned a mythic shipyard, when injecting XP into the ship the server admin was not able to get the ship's level above 56. The server admin also tried to launch the ship and then inject the XP after the boat was launched this did not work either. This was tested on both a schooner and a brigatine it affects both shipyards. Could a dev please test this out? We would hate to build a galleon with a mythic shipyard expecting to get the "mythic benefit" and get stuck well below the level of a vanilla shipyard. Thanks for your time in advance.

you see this JAT? you read your twitter JAT? what did i wrote you to do with colonies and empires? setting colonies to 20 i said? why is it still 50 now 75 and still ally allowed? you wanted empires to die JAT? like i said, in 3 twitter posts, small and mediums have no chance bc 50(75) with allys is too high, it equals a mega tribe. i was reading some different intentions from Wildcard beforehand. --> Colonies PvP: Freeform building, with more progress-protecting and time-enforced PvP rules creating a cooperative atmosphere, and limits to ensure the game is more oriented towards single players and small to mid-sized groups. but it seems like this is the way they wanna go.
  43. 1 point
I wasn't a fan of splitting such a small playerbase into two pvp servers in the first place, but once you decided to go that way, this is ridiculous. Big clans decided to stretch the rules of the small company server refusing to play in the server you made for them and you reward them with a 50% bigger player limit... I really don't understand this. It's been just one week and we are already seeing that kind of join me or i will zerg you attitude.

What happened to the other NA PvE server??? Now we are going to have two PvE servers and 1 PvP designed for small groups that has been over taken bye Mega's?!?
  45. 1 point
I think this is a horrible decision! They should change the rule set on empire so those Hardcore Mega's can go back to where they belong!!!
  46. 1 point
Yeah im a bit disappointed. Thought each Quality Tier would add like 10 Level so we end up Getting Level 100 in the end. Sounds much but with the Sotd changes And the galleon class And 2 additional stats it would still be Fine. Just add that the dmg Stat only Applies to Cannons on gunports, And you would have proper Naval Battels again And no front or backloader anymore
  47. 1 point
No need for exploits here. After level 10-12, given that you can respec every level, you can have a schooner with 4 ballistas that can also serve as a transport for a tamed bear. Bolts are expensive, but i think we usually spent like 25-30 on blue whales and i think those werent afected by extra rates, so it's an easy 1200+ gold, if you live near tundra. I don't think i need to say, how easy are low level maps with a bear and there's also flotsams, wrecks and SOTD, which if you want to compete, you will have to farm them. IMO base gold cost for any island shouldn't be less than 1k, much more for the better ones.

I was going to post this too. We are not taming freaking Brontos from ARK. The 8 wide, 12 high large gates are STUPID to have just because an elephant or a rhino are too wide to fit through the 2 wide, 4 high normal gate. Give us at least a damn middle ground. The TALLEST/WIDEST Creatures that are tamable (giraffe/razertooth) are just SIX WALLS TALL and fit through a THREE WIDE GAP. So all we need is a 3x6 gate! It's just so stupid that we need this HUGE FREAKING MONSTER of a gate just to fit through a rhino that is small enough height wise to fit through the normal gate, but is just a nudge to wide at the hips to fit the 2 foundation wide gap.
