  1. I don't know sylvester stallone made it look pretty good in rocky....
  2. Good Luck Meeko, Be sure to ask weekly and keep asking and asking and asking for all the things you think make sense to be in this game. And next year let me know how fruitful your efforts have been!
  3. Welcome to the forum, the only thing I find funny here is you! What made you buy this dumpster fire??? Did you do any research??? Are you aware your part of a last ditch grasp for funds, as next to no content has been put into the game, the only effort for the last several months has been figuring out how to get your money! Now that you have donated, feel free to enjoy the salt if you can't enjoy the salt then I suggest, "If you don't have anything salty to say don't say nothing at all" Now run along little scallywag let the pathfinders talk....
  4. What,,,, Hey us PC folks had to deal with the slide show for a good week it's your turn lol.... Granted our slide show was caused bye some 50,000 people trying to play don't know what your all excuse is other than the Xbox is not a pc!
  5. Of course you're enjoying this crap you have only had to regurgitate it for 1 day.... Talk to us when you have played a year of this broken game and you will still be behind
  6. Welp I have never played that game nor will I ever.... Sadly I did play Dark n Light regret that even more than atlas!
  7. This is about setting a precedent early and sticking to it... My kids never would have attempted this behaviour! Begging at the grocery store would have equaled leaving straight away and then having a dinner made of of nothing they liked. Next time at the grocery store if I hear silence then, I get em a treat. If they ever raided the desert before dinner then the closest they would get to fortnite would be tales from there friends as the Fuse box providing electricity to there room would be off... But then I might be old fashioned...
  8. How couldn't it have been on time?!? Seriously they have been looking forward to sucking the wallets of console players for the last year and even with no one wanting to play nobody spamming the login server they can't even manage to suck up the money from the few misguided console players correctly?!? So maybe its not a cash grab maybe its always been PURE incompetence!
  9. Wait I assumed NA pvp would be wiped day of launch..... And was online purely so there would be somewhere for everyone to play till the day of release?!? Am I wrong about that assumption... Seems silly there not going to wipe NA PvP if they wiped the rest?!?
  10. Now that's funny the most silent Developers in history come out of left field to nail realist with a perfect jab.... Oh the Irony!
  11. Well since there is not going to be 10 billion people flooding the servers and trying to play at launch because we all are very aware of Atlas and its reputation bye now.... Then I see no reason why the Xbox release won't go smoothly, in fact I agree with Realist it will go right on time because the only thing that matters here is they get a few more dollars from the Console players before they cut and run.....
  12. #NoRealistLeftBehind How did I miss out on such a great hashtag! Feeling the need to do an Atlas video about the Atlas Forum just so I can use this hashtag where I talk about Realist and Boomer... Hmmm would this be quality content???
  13. Okay Realist I will chime in with my two cents.... Your Discovery point focus is misguided. If this is indeed your goal then you will be a nomad and as a nomad Taming will be completely useless to you! Taming is a very OP skill that's almost a must for anyone who is going to build a base, but with discovery being your primary focus then you won't be building a base. Since you simply going to be sailing in between every island in the game and jumping off the ship to make landfall and then get right back on said ship then you are going to be passing thru hot and cold zones constantly. So I recommend that you invest heavily into fortitude as it will make dealing with the various temperatures easier plus it will help with your constant food issues! Before you start this epic exploration journey your first goal is to build yourself a Schooner not a sloop. The extra Speed the Schooner has will make your goal more viable even if it means you will have to work a bit harder in the beginning to build it and to get the skills to build it.... Otherwise not much else to tell you, just keep your eyes peeled as running aground or colliding with a whale will be your worst enemies (Running aground is far more common in cold areas where the Ice is not marked well if at all on the map! ) Also you may also want to invest in getting yourself some good fur armor in the beginning to help you navigate the arctic. This isn't that hard to do once you figure out the best way to get sap's (Honey, Tree Bark, Sugarcane plants) Sugarcane plants being the easiest depending on the starting zone you pick....
  14. We don't know that for sure as only less than 1% of the player base is left playing. SotD break immersion, they have no place in a low fantasy setting. And this game scream low fantasy most everything you do is low fantasy and then all of a sudden we toss strange high fantasy crap at the player like Magic Storms, and Ghost ships, Giant Krakens and SotD... They just don't fit the setting never have!
  15. I challenge you to put Ship of the Damned into the Search engine, then actually truly read thru the history and then tell me if any other feature in the game has driven more people away from said game!?! I could cut and paste the 10's of thousands of possible comments into this thread but I don't have the time to do that, there is more than a HUGE number of posts made on this very forum to confirm my conjecture.
  16. This maybe one of the nicest things you have said in this forum. To be compared to Boomer is really something I find very honorable as I too hold him in the highest esteem. Of all the people I have debated with on the forum he is the one who has always stuck to facts and never resorted to emotional outburst or poor behavior as is the norm in most online engagements these days! Thank you for that.
  17. I must disagree with you sir! Ultima Online BEFORE Trammel was the greatest MMORPG of all time... And both PvP and PvE players coexisted perfectly. No game has tried to shoehorn them together! Please name an MMORPG since Ultima Online that put everyone together! And that list will be a painfully obvious list of games that Catered to the PvP Niche crowd.... Mortal Online Darkfall Shadowbane ^^^^^ Are a few of the only ones I can think of. And where they went wrong is the same place that all the WoW clones go wrong! These games where PvP first and PvE was the Red headed step children! WoW GW2 ESO ^^^^ Those games are PvE first and PvP a minor after thought the Red headed step children!!! Please point out a game where PvP and PvE were treated equally in the same Sandbox in the past 12 years???? Not even Eve can make that claim because of the prevalence of High Sec space! The MMORPG Genre has been dying because of the Split of the player base that has become the normal since Trammel was created in Ultima Online.... That's why I have huge hopes that Chronicles of Elyria and its new MEOW approach will finally put the PvP and PvE crowd back together in one basket! I argue that no MMORPG since Ultima Online has even made a credible attempt to make a game capable of providing for the needs or all player types and allowing them to flourish which each needing the other to survive. Just like Plants need Carbon Dioxide to make Oxygen and we need Oxygen to breath the circle of life exists inside of the MMORPG Crafters need people to buy from them! PvPers Dont have time or care to craft <--- PvEers Collect mats and resources for the crafters PK's Try to kill the PvEers making there adventure all the more exciting and rewarding. Explorers Discover places and resources for the PvEers to adventure ^^^^ All of these are playstyles but sadly the average PVE "Minded Player" Today believes that all... PvPers are PK's Those are two very different categories.... Real PvPers want Honorable conflict and don't care about the PvEers they ignore them like a soldier would a civilian! Its the PK's that hunt the PvEers and they Use to be a small minority <---- The seperation of the playerbases has made the younger gamers 40 years old or less believe that PK's and PVP are the same thing... Game like Rust and ARK and DayZ and Atlas only Reinforce this terrible trend... And because of this the best MMORPG has to Really think about the systems it needs to put in place to RE Teach the PvP crowd that they are soldiers and not killers. it requires Law and Order, it requires using ones brain and being elaborate and figuring out how to mitigate all the people who will attempt to abuse the systems put in place! In short it would require effort.... but the Best MMORPG ever made the WoW killer the MMORPG that puts all players back in the same Sandbox that would be a game worth putting in the effort.... Hopefully thats Chronicles of Elyria otherwise I don't think I will see this game before I die....
  18. Understand I agree with you.... They should have had 1 sandbox but as you have pointed out they choose the course to seperate them all.... And when you set the precedent then there is no way to walk it back. PvE players need PvP players, even though they will never admit it, and swear up and down they don't... PvP players create danger, the cause Risk which makes Reward more Rewarding... Sadly MMORPG's since the day Ultima Online seperated the Good and the Bad when they created Trammel have operated under this Care Bear philosophy the ultimately ends up PvE Crowd Matters "They are the Majority" PvP crowd is an afterthought "Minority" (Less Money) You can see this in nearly every Major MMORPG including World of Warcraft. As for the Level the playing field it's not a matter of is it level its a matter of does it appear to be level. Your a prospective Xbox buyer thinking about making the purchase, are you more then likely to make the purchase if you know everyone is starting at the same point or are you less likely to make the purchase if you know there are bands of Computer players with high level characters and multiple Galleys and Islands that are already claimed and tons of money in there bank accounts with tons of high level tames. Sure the computer player thats been playing since release will have the Know How to level the Correct things and progress far faster but that doesn't matter.... What matters is the Happy feeling the prospective xbox buyer is going to have when he knows he will be starting on equal footing "cough" "cough".... Your knowledge and your right assumption that computer players will have the advantage is of no concern for sales, the only thing that matters is the appearance of the wipe.
  19. First time I have ever seen your mileage may very written out as an acronym. Actually had to look that one up. As for Realist championing a wipe, common sense dictates a wipe and while I rarely side or agree with the man, its obvious its the correct thing to do when introducing a large population too the sandbox... It's only fair to have a wipe! And everyone screaming and crying "OMG don't wipe" Reminder, Its an EARLY ACCESS GAME IN DEVELOPMENT if you think the game is going to magically develop itself without there being wipes your living in a fairy tale environment. As for the Unofficial server topic, I don't believe a MMORPG should separate itself into multiple servers, I don't think PvE and PvP should be separated either. But then this is not an MMORPG it claimed to be, it's just another survival MMO, that is catering to the less then civil portion of the PvP minded gaming subsection, that enjoys games like Rust, and DayZ where the running joke is "Frie....." (Friendly) and if you bother trying to actual ask that question well you're obviously dead and learned there is no such thing! Games like this will always be a small niche and never make the Revenue that an MMORPG like Ultima Online or RuneScape or dare I say World of Warcraft will ever make. Because MMORPG's require Rules, some level of Civil behaivor, etc.... And Atlas has none of this nor will it ever....
  20. To be honest it sounds like Realist has made a great decision to play on Unofficial. Be honest with yourself Boomer it's the only place the game is currently playable and enjoyable.... As for the elephant in the room "The Wipe" Get over yourselves people, this is a game in Development its not freaking released.... And its expanding to XBOX! Of course there going to wipe and it's not the end of the world, you can rebuild your pixels. Games wiping in development is part of the process. The train of thought that wipes are driving the player base away is CRAP The game itself, its poor implementation, drives the players away all on its own. The Wipes don't matter one bit to the fact the population has declined. The same people who were about to quit this game before the wipe are going to quit after the wipe, the wipe will just be there excuse or final nail in the coffin.... But don't be fooled they were dead men walking already!!! And that same people who love this game will still love this game after the wipe, though I can't imagine who those people are, they evidently have strange taste in a game!
  21. What a bunch of bull... The guy doing the interview is obviously scripted to ask the specific questions the person that is being interviewed is prepared to answer!!! No useful information was shared here the only thing I see is the whole we need to make sailing a better experience "Company Line" And this guys initial thoughts on how to do it are so far off base its obvious why they can't make this a decent game! Make ships EASIER to aquire??? As if its not already stupid easy to build a ship??? More Events on the Sea's??? Because the SOTD and the Storms are NOT REASONS people have quit playing this game?!? They are not in touch with reality....
  22. How to make sailing less Dull and more fun! Get rid of SOTD... Get rid of the Stupid Storms Get rid of the silly mermaid Remove 90% of the Sharks.... DON'T MAKE SHIPS FASTER SLOW DOWN GALLEYS AND BRIGS that are running heavy SPEED UP Sloops and Schooners that are empty For the Love of God Make ships with Lanteen Sails peform correctly Close Hauled Make Square Riggers stop in their tracks when they turn into the wind penalize them as they should be when Running and make them perform best at a Broad Reach Make Sails Gaff, Square or Lanteen and perform correctly Close Beam or Broad.... So to summarize get rid of the stupid stuff, and make sailing realistic then wait for players to return because the stupid stuff is gone and they can go back to a game that has good sailing mechanics!
  23. The entire point of the argument of this thread is insane to me!!! The people arguing against a 15 Second immunity are the people who want to Camp the border hoping to lure a player to there death??? These people should go back to playing eve and camping there low sec gates for the love of god get a life!!! Absolutely there should be a 15 second immunity not just because of SOTD but because of people like this who think its fun to try and camp a server line>???? Really!!!! I don't think people know what good pvp is anymore! ^^^^ That is not PvP thats griefing.... PvP Honorable, fun, and fair... Sinking a person before there computer renders the next server is none of those things!
  24. So Wurm has another thing going for it... Faction's Yes the Friends raiding your base loophole sorta works Problem is your friend would need to be in another faction, which in Wurm people in other factions are typically far from your friends not to say there are not the usual drama filled I quit this faction and go join the other faction, things and then said drama queen decides the grass was more green on the side he came from. But one person can only take X amount of the loot from the token, not to mention it's not a 1 to 1 reward system either... For example 10,000 Gold is on token Raid comes along 2,500 gold is removed from the token. 1 Person in the raid takes his share from raid "200 gold" 2nd person takes his share "200gold" 3rd person takes his share "200 gold" 4rth person takes his share "200 gold" you only had 4 people with you 1,700 gold goes up in smoke to the mystery black hole..... and at most 10 people can tap a token in a raid which means while your taking 25% of the cash from the owner if you have a full 10 guys you only end up with 20% as 5% just again simply vanishes into the black hole.... So if you had your friend raid you so you could get that nice long period of the token not being raidable then you losing a good amount of coin in the process.... As for What does the token do? I keeps decay from destroying your buildings and items... It does not make your wall invulnerable... But it does add a decent buff to there durability because it's inside of the tokens influence... So all the token really does ultimately is it keeps the game's Decay from destroying everything thru the natural decay that happens to anything you build in game.... It does not magically make your walls impossible to break.... However Wurm has Siege mechanics you not going to simply hit the wall with a hammer and break in, well you could if you got a few days and nothing better to do you could eventually bash thru a wall.... No you would typically build a Catapult at the location and use it to break thru the wall which again is a bit of an undertaking and it could take an hour or two but you can get thru.... Of course if anyone is there to defend then that changes the dynamic alot... Of course I am leaving out many nuances of the game like Dirt Walls so high you need amazing stamina just to climb to the top where the actual wall is and then you have enough stamina for 1 swing of a siege hammer before you run out of stamina falling down the 255 dirt high dirt wall taking tons of damage.... Fortress's built like this in game are neigh unraidable but at the same time it takes a month for one guy to fill in the one tile 255 dirts high and you have to do that too 200+ Tiles those types of builds are insane... And then you have new players with 12 points of skill in carpentry putting up wooden walls and locking their door thinking there stuff is safe and anyone with a butter knife can walk up and cut thru there wall in about 60 seconds.... Game revolves around skills and skills are grindy and take "years" to raise. However again all of this is not really relevant to the token mechanic and I am getting off topic...
