Apart from the fact that the SotD should be a LOT rarer than the currently are, it is really annyoing that they dont follow the same ruleset playerships have to. I get it, it seems to be too hard to let them use actual sail mechanics. But at least adjust their speed to the current windspeed? If you have low windspeeds you are doomed. Thats not "fun and engaging gameplay", or a skill factor. It is just annoying. Nothing else. Or change the render range so you can actually avoid them. But we all know that one is never gonna happen, the "150 max" Servers already buckle under the load of 20+ just sitting on islands.

I can't believe you actually did this .. Way to ruin all PVP in the game. Get a mount that pulls a cart, stick a swivel turret on it, put on an NPC.. You now have something that can oneshot aimbot you from 180 degrees at a sizable distance, that is basically impossible to kill due to insane defense and mobility and hp regen... Great game design guys.. Very smart... Jesus. The massive list of reasons this breaks the game : 1. NPCs are aimbot Guys.. You can't have NPCs aiming better than players.. 100% accuracy every time, with a gun that kills in a SINGLE HIT through PLATE.....PLATE! Now all you've got is a bunch of fake PVPers riding around aimbotting everyone with their NPCs. So stupid. 2. There is nothing to stop the cart moving You've given us NO WAY to stop these carts moving. Are you stupid or something? You don't put something in the game with NO COUNTER.. You're basically forcing people to use this noskill anti-pvp method.. And it is anti-pvp because the NPC is doing all the killing. 3. NPCs have too much defense/hp. I remember I was shooting an NPC in plate with a flintlock, and it did 6 damage... 6. Why is this so much higher than say...A player's defense?.. You can't have these near immortal gods mounted on these turrets, whilst also give them aimbot accuracy. It now removes sniping them off the back as an option. IF you can even hit them moving at that speed. You've basically provided NO real options to deal with this trash.. It is embarrassingly bad game design. To kill that NPC, i'd probably need to hit it with 15 flintlock shots... 15.. Meanwhile, it can insta-kill me from miles away with something that is supposed to be a shotgun spread. 4. They move too fast. Have you tried shooting someone off a moving horse; I mean, this is your only option; and you're not going to be able kill them in one, because they'll be wearing plate.. So what is the problem here? You shoot at them, they have the mobility to just get in cover easily, assess the situation, and then charge out and use the aimbot.. All the while you're taking half an hour to reload. 5. NPC/tames regenerate like wolverine Can't kill the mounts because they take too many hits, and regenerate health. Can't kill the aimbot NPC for pretty much the same reason. Your only viable option is to shoot the person off the mount; however that doesn't work either because of their mobility. There is no permanence to the damage you put on them, so you can't even whittle them down.. No. You can do NOTHING. 6. Too much range. Guys.. It ONE SHOT AIMBOTS. You can't have it hit for fking MILES. What are you thinking.. Literally, 180 degrees from the back of the cart is a deadzone for a significant distance.. It is just the most tactless tripe I've ever seen. Fakest PVP ever. 7. Too much damage It one shots in full plate.. Need I say more? 8. Too much mobility They can do everything whilst going at full speed.. You'd think moving at such a high speed you impact the accuracy of someone trying to aim.. But no, not the aimbot NPCs. This is just killing the game.. As if they didn't have enough stuff killing the game, you now have this.. === In conclusion.. You can't hit them, even if you did you can't kill them, you can't defend against them; and you can't stop them. What you have here is something so broken, that the only counter is to use It yourself.. I ask : Where is the weakness?... Where is the counter?... It does EVERYTHING well. You've just added a complete noskill way to win pvp.. You don't even have to aim. Remove swivels from mounts until you figure something out. Or atleast don't let them move and fire at the same time. You outright gimped explosive barrels which were significantly MORE balanced than this trash.. I expect to see swift action for something this broken.. But I bet I never see it.

I am getting a little tired of all the threads people start which are self-entitled and full of hyperbole. Does anyone really think that "Thanks for breaking XYZ devs!" is really a good idea for a forum post? Firstly, the Devs do not break or imbalance things on purpose. They are trying to create a game that is a success. The thing people need to realize is that you effectively bought a Beta Key for a game and you have no right to complain like a child when something is changed and does not have the effect the developers intended (Or it does, but you just don't like it). People really need to keep in their minds that this game is not complete, it will change for the better and for the worse many times before we get a true 1.0 release. You are the tester. They will patch and things will break. You will test the software and then you should create a carefully crafted bug report detailing all the information like location, item / NPC names, what you did, and what happened - and do it in the Bug Reports section of the forum. The thing you shouldn't do is totally lose your shit on a public forum, claim that you paid "all this money for a piece of shit blah blah blah" because that is a sure-fire way to get yourself added to the Ignore lists of people. What good is it to the game if your attempt at a meagre complaint gets ignored? My advice is to never post a rant immediately after something goes wrong with your time in game. Go for a walk. Make a cup of coffee, have a cigarette if that is your thing. But don't just come on a public forum with pointless cursing and salt just because the game is not complete. I Atlas

I was in the Polar region, Literally the only one on the server. I come to a a fairly large island. the only human structures I saw were claim flags which covered the island, a couple banks and with taxes set 30%. The claims were protected for 20 days before they could be challenged. Disgusted I left my ship anchored of my ship and bed returned to base. I have been up there a couple times never more than 3 player on the server (there are 4 islands) and The other main island is just is claimed it does have a couple minor structures but still 30% rate most of the places. Now even the most remote regions of the game are blocked from new players building, or even harvesting material with out a handicap. A couple players can render a region near unplayable with no more effort than visiting once a week. In PvE claims should require upkeep and the higher the taxes the higher the upkeep. Discourage people from claiming land and doing nothing with it. I am going to head over to the one lawless polar server so I can collect resources without taxes. I have not been to the other 29 polar regions but I doubt they are much different. Tundras are almost completely claimed, the rest of the biomes have been claimed for a while. We only have land because it was gifted/traded from other players, without even other players on, can't even negotiate with them. I don't mind active regions having claims, but when everything is claimed, foundation spammed and/or walled off and 5 or less players on the server, none responding to chat, this game does not look good for the long term.

Just online now and the Chinese have lured a ghost ship near to our base, luckily I seen it happen and destroyed it but not before it destroyed 2 large ships of my neighbour, he is 1 man company and is offline, feel so bad for him. All I could do was demolish his ship and put most of his stuff in a box for when he is next online. Please fix the bug with NPC option for "fire at ships only" i've recently build a tower to stop these ghost ships but I can't keep them turned on, they will fire at everything that moves. I don't have the resources to put unlimited ammo in the box for them. I can't put gates in the sea either, there is just no way to stop people luring these ghost ships in. I don't want all my ships to be destroyed when I'm offline also. Fix the NPC bug and they can bring as many Ghost ships in as they want.

I've seen your posts in other threads in regards to this topic, and I know you feel quite strongly about it, but I think you're intentionally ignoring the point people are trying to make. I don't say that to get a rise out of you. But people have selected a PVE server. If the developers want PVE players to require base defenses like that to protect against random raids from SOTD or marauding animals or NPC Pirates or cannibals, then that is fine, players should be expected to deal with that as that is what they're intended PVE playing environment is. But, if people are using exploits to grief players, then that would go against what players SHOULD expect in a PVE server. Exploits are exploits. Just because it is possible to defend against it, does not mean that people should be quiet about it, or not complain. That is the point of these forums, to voice their concerns or ask for advise. You've given partial advise on how to protect yourself from SOTD attacks, but your delivery has also been given in a tone that says "Suck it up and leave if you don't like it". Additionally players should not have to invest significant hours into building base defenses against exploits. That's not the intended play style as far as I can tell that the developers intended. If I'm wrong, and developers intend for us to be the victims of exploits then I'll just shut my yap. In the meantime, I think people should be allowed to voice their concerns and irritations so that the Developers might gain an idea of whats affecting the community the most so they can prioritize what exploits to fix. That's not going to happen if people just shut up and deal with it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The lack of a sense of personal ownership is, what I perceive, to be one of the biggest downsides to the game. And, as stated previously, it means that when you join a company you essentially own nothing and what you do bring to a company you lose ownership of as well. One of the things we're doing to try to correct this is to create pin coded player housing where our members can store personal items. We all have our personal tames and some have their own ships but use of them is based on the honor system. If company ownership is going to be the norm, then tames and ships need to have a way to lock their usage to admins and specific players. The thing I wish we could do now is to is transfer ship ownership should someone desire to leave the company. Nobody who put effort into growing a company should have to resort to punching trees should they choose to leave.

Tbh they should remove large cannons from ships and only allow cannons in the gun ports of ships. Would make balancing them easier and remove alot of the monstrosities we see atm Should be noted that they should then introduce actual ship parts with forward pointing gun ports and add gunports on the backside of the galleon

I have done over 100 treasure maps and have gotten various quality Blueprints of everything from guns to tools to armor but I haven't even had a single common hatchet Blueprint not stone not metal drop from a treasure map completion the only thing that makes sense is that the loot table for treasure maps is missing hatchet recipes.

Little & not so little requests for pve improvements in no particular order. (Edited to include additional posts in thread by myself & others). 1. Auto Closing Doors. Seriously. 2. Revisit Vitamins. Everyone hates them. So now there's a do-stuff-til-you-die mini-game going on. We all do it. At a minimum, the timers for berries and greens need to as long as the ones for meat, and all the feed-your-face timers need to be longer. Alternatively, please consider focusing negative deficiency effects to things like stamina, along the lines of old age effects. No players should be dieing from scurvy in just a few game days. 3. Please consider adding a real "Transfer ALL" to the HUD (inventory + hot bar + equpped), in addition to the current one that just transfers inventory. A double arrow icon above the current one works. 4. Consider reducing Sea claim sizes around islands, or altogether. The current situation is just ridiculous. 5. More balance on decay rates (e.g. earthworms decay b4 they can be used 4 taming) 6. Change "Join Now" to "Delete Your Character and Reroll" or some such 7. Consider reclassifying eggs as protein. 8. Shipyards: a) while building allow unlimited moving around pieces like sails and wheels until the ship is launched. b) allow launched ships to snap back into the shipyard / drydock for repairs & such along with c) an option to repair "all" from the shipyard. 9. Ships: Add a "gangplank", like the rope ladder, that can be extended to land or bldg's to help with loading, unloading. A 2 tile extension to a shipyard would do it. walking-the-plank, and keel-hauling animations at your discretion. 10. Dye's - Consider adding "dye color" to the description of any dyed item. 11. Add tooltip to improved recipes so we can tooltip over the recipe to see exactly what the particular missing ingredients are. 12. Please add an option to increase the tooltip and chat text size. 2x the current size at a minimum 13. Please consider adding "auto-repair" task option to ship crew 14. Add 'Transfer All" to ship resource box 15. Add "Edit Pet Name" to pet options Thanks for the info Firzt! 16. Please adjust/normalize sound effects for food trough and mess table containers - currently way too loud vs. other effects 17. Breeding - show the sex of the pet in the dialogue box asking us to name them. 18. Either increase animal food stacks, decay time, preserving times, or all of the above. Unless it's the intent to force players to stay awake for 40+ hours at breeding pets, a stack needs to last though the 8 hours between imprinting. 19. We sorely need a respec recipe, potion, food, or quest location. (thanks for adding that to the patch) 20. Tarot/Voodoo idea - A short "fill my sails" effect for a little scoot when the wind's just not working for ya. 21. Especially at sea, add an option for a confirmation dialogue box before demolishing items. The current nested wheels with options that rotate between layers is a recipe for disaster. 22. Add auto on off for lanterns when day and night cycles, AND change repairing lantern to refilling with oil. 23. Please bring back the compost box. Poop/fertilizer detail needs to be shared amongst the entire company. 24. Fix strawberries - they are not harvestable again 25. Increase heat effect range of grills and campfires to at least a radius of one full tile. 26. Consider replacing preserving salt with raw salt for making salted meats. Currentlly, raw meat cannot be preserved in a preserving bag because it eats up the preserving salt. 27. Add option to see Company members on map. 28. For the love of Peet, change the color of player location crosshair on the map to something other than the red claim flag color. Players are getting nose prints on their monitors. 29. Back to the Ship function dialogue wheel. Please pull Ship Properties to the top layer. Move Demolish to bottom layer (with a confirm) 30. Stone Water Reservoir - Increase storage capacity to 2x large plot boxes, or 1200 units. Right now they drain before the plot box ever needs it. 31. Fix old Ark engine plot box bug where they stop functioning and need to be replaced for no apparent reason. 32. Not Little at all - Fix losing pets when loading to ship asap. In many cases they are loading under ship on the sea floor, and then die. 33. Add more bed styles - captains bed and hammocks for starters. 34. Improve Fishing. Add more fish types and turn-ins at Freeports for prize fish. Add treasure maps to fishing loot pool. 35. Add a mounting bolt to ship decks to literally tie pets down to ship decks. 36. - Make ladders always allow you to climb them by hitting "E"! And keep always "Hold E" for all other actions like demolish, extend, retract etc. 37. - Fix "Forest" color dye. It doesn't work (and never was). 38. Fix "Demolition allowed" to Lighthouses in Lawless. Right now it's "Decay time 02:00:00:00" and "demolition allowed" at the same time. 39. - Add a "players in region" somewhere so any1 could see - who is on your gird, what company he belongs to and where is he right now (island/open seas?) 40. - Add "group gathering" feature so any1 could "join the party" and head to groups adventures like golden age, kraken, high SotD's hunting, treasure etc. 41. - REMOVE RAINS from Tundra/Polar. At least when temperature is below zero. Right now you can see -27'C and RAIN? What kind of rain is that? 42. - Peaceful fluffy snowfall and heavy snowstorms in Tundra/Polar would be nice tho... 43- I wish to see st. Elmo's fire before thunderstorms and rainbow after a rain. Falling stars would be nice too. 44.- What if you find all discoveries in a grid and then you get info about all resources you can find there? 45. - Add stern, nose and open deck gunport and limit guns placement to just gunports : ) 46. Would be nice, if from the captain's wheel you had a speed indicator and depth indicator. Maybe even an onscreen compass across the top. 47. Add a button to a storage, that UNITE all same stuff to a stack. 48. some civil human beings NPCs at least on some islands would be really nice (not sure how to do that tho... maybe some travelers with random camps or... even small villages). 49. Would be nice, if from the captain's wheel you had a speed indicator and depth indicator. (and % opening sails). 50. Add some kind of collision detection to player ship do not collide with SotD when entering a new server. 51. Allow players to pick up and move swivel cannons, like a water barrel. 52. Consider allowing players to use swivel cannons from their hot bar directly (with some kind of movement penalty?)

The island I live on once had a player count of over 85 every day. Then Chinese companies repeatedly rolled in and sunk ships while we got at most 5 hours of sleep. Most of them left for this reason. Today once again, a company rolls in and sinks EVERY ship on our island while we slept. Some companies are small, some have 20+ people in them. None of it matters when youre offline. We had two towers with 15 NPCS each in them. All with varying distances on range, the ships had cannons also manned, costing me almost 1k gold a day for defenses. None of it mattered. If you're going to allow people to offline raid your ships, then cut the cost on them by 60% so it doesnt take 4 hours smacking trees and fiber to gather the resources to replace them. This is why people are fed up. The common answer, "Join a LARGE company". Well from the many people within large companies, that spend hours smacking trees, only to have the box they drop the wood in Pin coded to admin, or any other number circumstances, no thank you. This game is labeled as an MMO but with now tiles that take 30 minutes to get across, featuring a population of 20 PEAK hours, its not so massive anymore. The mechanic for offline raiding NEEDS to be fixed through either balancing, or some other way. Ive got 500 hours into this game at this point, and am just about ready to hang the towel.

DEar Developers! Please Set Limit the number of buildings per person and company! It’s just not possible to play, all the Lawles islands are simply littered with players ’buildings, now I’ve even stumbled upon such that 1 player cut off half a large island with a lagoon having built several dozen shipyards, Big Shipyard got 300k HP and huge like... Made limit, example 1 character in company can build: - 1 Tiny shipyard, 1 Small or Big Shipyard - ground buildings 150-200 elements max that enough (in variations at your discretion) Wanted to move to another island? Be kind to take away your shit... All sorts of hotheads come to the islands, break houses, and leave behind dozens of cannons with foundations, which then stand for weeks and this concerns not only cannons, each island is stuck with pillars every meter... I also propose such an addition, a concept as a foundation, if a player is going to build a house to build walls, he needs to build a plateau of at least 9 cells, as soon as he does this, the trigger is turned on that he has a building and cannot build foundations away from the main foundations, only can connect to existing cells, only gates and walls not further than 50-100 meters from the foundation, depending on the number of players in the company, the more people, the more they can build...

Dear Developers and pathfinders of Atlas, I really enjoy playing Atlas for way to many hours now. But i noticed in the last weeks/month that players mainly from big companies are not playing fair. Im talking about glitching, exploiting, duping and aimbot wich is a big problem. Im not even talking about the clever usages of game mechanics, because i understand that its EA. I also understand that it is impossible to ban all cheating of your game, but atleast try to control it a little. In my opinion it cant be that hard to have some sort of administrator roles checking the servers for unfair play and cheating. Im more then happy to pay a monthly fee of like 5/10 euros to get some sort of customer support that actively remove cheaters and cheating companies from this game. Im pretty sure there are even players that are willing to help out in the battle of cheaters completely free. Make punishments for it, lets say company x is caught with cheating. Ban the cheating players, remove all the items, claims boats etc from that players. Then give that company a timed period for lets say 30 days they cannot invite players with less then x amount of hours. That way cheating players will have to stay in separate companies to protect their assets they dont want to lose, wich makes controlling the cheating easier (Atleast i think so) But do something about it, this way more and more of your core players will leave this game. I hope more players can give their input about this

Base raiding in the game is doing nothing but annoying a huge portion of the playerbase, and isn't really along the pirate theme. Pirates rarely raided land strongholds, 99% of their activity was on the sea. The rare times they did raid, it was more along the lines of "Hey, village, pay us X amount of money, or else we're going to sodomize your entire town." If the town didn't pay the ransom, or get assistance from the allies, THEN they got destroyed. PVP should be limited to open sea, with islands being safe zones. Company A should be able to make demands for tribute from Company B, and if those demands are not met within 24-48 hours, or if Company B opens fire on Company A, then Company A can commence the land attack. As is, the majority of the time, people are just leveling bases for the hell of it, not for any gain. Most resources just get dropped to decay. This would give an actual reason for raiding - material gain. Yes, you'd still have companies demanding some ridiculous amount of tribute, because they just want to destroy, but it would give the extorted company 24-48 hours to get their defenses in order, and a set time of when the attack would commence. It would get rid of offline raiding, and destruction just to destroy for the hell of it, make alliances actually count for something, and actually make PVP truly PVP instead of logging on to find out your stuff was levelled while you were offline, again.

This morning, my neighbor's galleon has been sunk by SOD on my doorstep. Only a few meters park 3 of my ships. It makes you a little thoughtful ... Bad enough that you can use the SOD in the PVE for the Griefplay. What is worse, however, is that developers have completely forgotten about offline protection. The islands need a kind of spell mile, in which the SOD decay immediately. Salazar could not go ashore in PotC5 either. Of course there should not be a loot in there so that it can not be exploited. I have nothing against a fight or defending myself, but I would like to be present and respond.

Playing like 300 hrs, the first 100 hrs sailing from one place to other and living in my raft and sloop in the middle of the sea or in freeports or near to the beach in some lawless zones, moving from servers, trying to find a place, looking all the islands in like 12 servers, dying many times, finally found a nice place in a nice island (has clean water, sap, metal, minimal wild animals) , removed the base that some inactive player left, build my base and stablished for a while, sail to other island (with different resources) in lawless zone, again, found a nice available place and build another base....so...HELL NO! NO Wipe! at least until this game finish is EA state. The problem is that all place are claimed? OK, take your time and found a nice place in some lawless zone or try to catch a claimed land. WIPE is NOT the solution.

I agree. The problem here was the way it was released. If they called it an open beta we would not have all the bad reviews and rants on the board. But, they called it an "Early Access" and then changed the meaning of the words early access. For 20 years the meaning of EA was the few weeks right before full retail release, when they let the first wave of people in. This is not EA by the normal meaning of the words. This is beta. But you can't sell a game in beta outside of crowd funding. Mistakes were made and now we are moving forward. If the top ten issues are resolved I think people will give it another look. Atlas has an amazing looking world and the basics of a good game. Maybe one day even a great game. I for one still support it.

DannyUK, it is a particularly hard one for the developers to fix due to the authoritative nature of Atlas and Ark servers. Basically as you login (or move into render distance) your client asks the server if MOBs can stand where they should be stood (MOBs zone in before structures). When you are zoning in the client thinks, understandably, that there is no floor under the MOBs because it is yet to be told that there is a floor there by the server. This results in the MOBs dropping into the floor a little. Unfortunately the creatures can then get stuck in the mesh client-side because when the server delivers the required message to say "Zone in a floor here" the client has already dropped the animal lower than it should; there is a little give and take regarding the location of items or the game would be hell to play (constantly clipping against walls or doors whenever your client is slightly de-synced due to latency). Any fixes to this, very irritating, issue would likely make it easier for people to no-clip into buildings or exploit other techniques to ruin the game. Annoying, not easy to fix (and still happens in Ark).

I actually prefer the current state as I like to just stock 1 and let neighbors feed off it. Easier then running from one to another constantly checking to make sure everyone has enough. I assume OP is in a company that other players ships are leeching and is causing more work then his crew needs. The thought that comes to mind though would be that beloved saying: There is no "I" in team.

The main issue with melee at the moment is that fact as soon as you trigger an attack it basically roots you to the spot making it next to impossible to use melee if you are chasing someone around. Well unless you use a sickle of course as the works as melee should work no rooting to the spot when you attack.. Plus of course they need to address the mount issue.. myself I think horses should be the only animal you can use as a mount.. any other tames should be for gathering only or taken out.. I know lot will not agree with that but at the moment mounts as well as the pretty bad melee system make it pointless trying to get into close combat.

i don't see an issue with this , if you have multiple crew and boats they take what they need to eat / pay / repair your ships while u are away one box runs out if there is items in another they take from that , i dont see a downside sorry

I think claim flags should have an upkeep cost in gold where the cost per flag goes up the more flags you control. 1-3 Flags Free 10 flags or less a 1000g a week. 20 flags 5 k gold a week 50 flags 20k gold . 100 flags or more 100k a week This would prevent companies from getting to big as well as small companies from taking way to much land. Obviously these numbers may need to be adjusted but they should def make it to where controlling to much land is not worth it.

There are always going to be fanboys who defend every decision a developer makes, no matter how plainly wrong and harmful to the population that decision is. But a dead game is exactly the path we're on. Not only do we have Steamcharts as you mentioned, Reznok's tracker still shows the populations of official NA and EU PVP. At the absolute best moments they have a combined population of about 5,000. Right now there are 3,300 online between both servers. They can't make any money selling cosmetics with population numbers like that. Since the Fountain of Youth was introduced, we've lost about 20% of players each week. The subreddit has actually been losing subscriptions this week, which makes it feel like there aren't a lot of new people buying the game (33% positive reviews on Steam probably doesn't help). I don't think the population is going to find a bottom without quick, major changes from Grapeshot, but they seem committed to their failed design. There will only be a few hundred people left on officials here soon.

It's not "creative", it's damn ugly and waaaaay overpowered. Limit ships to cannon in gunports only. Don't allow structure outside the frame of the hull, don't allow extra decks above the current amount. Those "armor" designs are the most hideous things in the world.

nothing about the Kraken being killed by a fleet of 52 ships combined of the top companies on the server? Would have thought that would merit a mention.

The store page clearly advertises a customizable game. Devkit and mod support. This means that single player would be completely driven by the community and not the devs, if they would simply support LAN. But if they dont want revenue from the single player demographic, that's fine it's their loss. Ark support all types of gamers and is way more popular than Atlas.

v15.61 - NPCs mounted on Puckles are now invincible But how come all my NPSs are dead? Well i did some testing after i posted a thread up on PVP as it annoyed me enough to find out. Fire arrows still wreck AI mounted on puckles.

Sick and tired of logging on to find my tames half way through the floor. I used to keep them on the lower level until I logged in and found a cobra had killed it. I since built an upper floor to try and get them out of the way to be safer but I log in to find them always dropping halfway through the floor like dangling food for the snakes. If you are not going to fix the cobra issue at least fix the system with the floors so we can keep them higher and safe without them dropping back to the bottom. Surely you notice these bugs and should jump on them immediately putting them in the next patch as you go along? How hard can it be to fix for the devs. https://imgur.com/a/pJoigyV https://imgur.com/iZlK7FC

If you are thinking basically, then you would come to that conclusion. This is not a simple easy fix that you can just attach gold to to correct it. The flag system is flawed in countless ways and will take a total revamp to get the balance right, and to stay in Grapeshots vision. Just plopping a gold requirement on the existing system will only make things worse for new players. Existing companies and players already have a gold hoard and know how to get a lot of gold fast. A medium company can get upwards of 40k gold in a few hours. We have done it. Get several Masterwork and Journeyman maps with 10+ players and there you go. For just myself, I have over 10k gold sitting in my bank from taxes, that is not including the 25k that is in the resource box. With this, even if they did a flag wipe, the existing top companies would keep their claims easily. There might be a little shuffling of flag locations but the flags would just go back up fast, especially with companies that have 100 +active players. But, new players do not have the resources or know how to easily beat these treasure maps to farm them fast. And float-some is not a viable option for large amounts of gold. This would make it even harder for new players to get and keep land. That is why the option I posted above is a real solution. it takes all the above into account, turns flags into collision based models, and removes them and the items on the property if too much time has transpired. And lastly, it doesn't matter what someone owns, how much land they own, or how they use it. That is THEIR land, not yours. They might want to leave that land open for a rare resource that grows there, or tax it when other players come there because the island the other players live on has been so built up that nothing spawns there any longer. And lastly, if they did open it up, then the newbies would build anywhere and even on top of rare resources and break those spawns too. I know this well, we have had that happen to our land, so we only share land that is not near resources that are either rare or needed in abundance. Final thought. Atlas might be based on Ark and play like it in some ways, but it is not Ark. This game is not just a simple sandbox survival game with land grabbing, boats, and bosses. It is a full MMO with survival aspects, a competitive leader board system, trading stalls(Coming in February) and a full city and society builder in place for large companies. This is already in future plans for the game or already implemented. Having a full island and then building a city with laws, rental apartments, rental ship yards and such is not a far fetched idea here. It sucks that the current game is not there yet, but we know most of that is coming. And that post i made above takes all of this into account. Just slapping a gold requirement on a flag does not.

If you didn't 'hop' out the water you'd be unable to climb up the side of rafts, small structures at the waters edge, onto tidepool rocks etc. However, the fact it activates every time you surface, like if trying to climb onto a shallow inclined beach is a pain in the ass; literally if a crocodile is biting it and you're trying to run away. Game needs a manteling mechanic.

As the Audio Director of ATLAS I must say... I could not agree with you more! The suffering and tree farming vocalizations are extremely annoying. They are not playing as I intended. I’ve asked our programmers to fix these bugs since the game’s release but sound is generally last on their priority list... hopefully soon I can get some help.

Pretty stupid honestly how some top 10 companies can have ~10 ACTIVE members and hold that many land plots. Stupid broken system. Pretty selfish. Also, those islands all look like garbage with abandoned shipyards and ships.
