This is a re-post, due to original poster being lost at sea. We are The Friendly Server, already hosting a vibrant and (forgive the pun) friendly Ark community across 7 Ark maps. In January this year, our tireless leader launched The Friendly Server for Atlas and our 2 communities live side by side in discord which now boasts a healthy 800+ members. The bulk of this of-course is Ark players, so never fear, our Atlas server has plenty of space available for new players and builders to setup their fortresses or seaside towns. We are running on 2 dedicated, high spec servers, free from rubberbanding or lagg. The servers are based in the UK but we have players from allover the world joining us. As mentioned, it's a 5x6 map home to more than 100 islands. 5 grids are reserved for all 9 powerstone islands and 9 trenches whilst a 6th grid is reserved for the Kraken. We also have 1 pvp grid and another grid for hosting server events/games. The remaining 22 grids are for building and player bases with a balanced mix of all the biomes. We are a pve server and an entirely a pve community, but since we all get a kick out of blowing each other up, we've added a pvp grid for fun. Easily avoided and clearly marked Both in Ark and Atlas we do not support a "pay to win" environment and we keep our boosted rates at a sensible level to ensure that the intended game mechanics are still relevant but also boosted enough to take away the grind found on official servers. Server settings/features: 4x Harvesting 6x Taming 3x Exp 6x Egg/Gestation 7x Maturing 2x Difficulty (max level wild spawns are 60) 4x spoil timers(increased stacks for spoilables) Noclip enabled, Fountain of Youth permanently active on all powerstone Islands, Old flag claim system, Servers are never wiped unless official updates force it, All 9 powerstones, 9 trenches, Ghostship, Kraken grid, Ice Cave The Friendly Server Mods: Atlas Transfer\\Pickup Gun Custom Item Stacks (for spoilables only) eco's RP Decor Unlockable Submarine We are very careful about adding mods that cannot promise long term support or severly damage game mechanics. Many servers have already wiped for installing mods that are no longer supported. More mods will be added in future. Rules, join links and mod links can all be found on our website or in Discord. This is what happens when the guy who knows nothing about consoles goes out of his zone and tries to answer a console question. Should have just kept my mouth shut, but I figured all consoles were releasing at the same time.
  5. 2 points
Actually I think there’s a decent chance console release is a sort of clean slate for Atlas. The game’s launch was a true dumpster fire, and it’s still a long way from perfect, but I think the game is in a measurably better state development wise than at the start. Console players are a market where the game is less likely to suffer from the lingering stigma from launch that is keeping pc players away in droves. Some console players keep up with pc gaming industry news and will be aware of Atlas’s poor start, many will not. If Grapeshot is able to offer them a game at that point that is markedly improved and refined, it could be a second chance the game needs to build a playerbase. I don’t see it being a massive console hit in its current state, but it seems entirely plausible it could attract a respectable number of players to form a solid core on which to build. I do think that if the console release does not breathe some lasting life into the playerbase, it could be extremely hard long term for the game to achieve sustainable activity. Grapeshot can say they aren’t concerned about player numbers for the time being, but at some point this thing does have to pay for itself, and if they strike out with console players too, I don’t know where those players are gonna come from in the end.

+ Peasants (NPC), hire-able, who could milk cows, gather manure or automate farming, etc. main usage would be for single player obviously, but it would also cut a bit on tedious on PvE and PvP. It would also add sense of progression (making things easier for well established player).

Dear developers, Do you really not understand how the social dynamics in this game work? Or do you really don't care at all? Why do you keep rolling over the small guy? Just why? CURRENT: V210.13 - Magic Mythos 2x is enabled on the Official Network: 2x Taming, XP and Harvest Rates - Settlement Owners can now raze a settlement after first claiming it. This will destroy all structures on the island. The cost to raze will be 12k gold on PvP servers and 25k gold on PvE servers. Settlement Owners will need to wait 48 hours to be able to raze an island after claiming it. The raze option will then be available for a 24-hour window only. This option is only functional during peacetime on PvP networks. Who asked for this? Who needs this? Now not only a company of teenage bullies can raid me into oblivion in a game that revolves around farming, but now they can also foundation wipe me for a measly amount of 12k gold? You already made the situation really bad when you enabled fast decay for settlement owners. 12k gold... They stole that much from me already. You are basically rewarding them for steamrolling me. The amount of (non) thinking you give to these changes are just appalling.

The Building System in this game is terrible .. Floors do not stack as they should .. Should be whole floor block stacking on another .. not a half block Walls do Not turn the same direction .. even using the " Q " to rotate .. Just tried that .. one side of base walls are facing one direction and they Will Not turn the same direction on the other side .. even using the " Q " or going into fly mode to look from different . Roofs are about the only thing that is about right and workable. BUT >> Floors and Walls really need alot of work .. ( Have tried it Vanilla and Modded ) NOT Something to write home about. Also .. with the collision turned OFF .. it isn't great. ( seen better in game that just out and building is a main topic in the game for Many players .. especially in SP ) Just a few thoughts

To host a server, on the main menu, use the single player/non dedicated option. At the next screen in the centre is a button to host a server. To join a server, on the main menu select the join server. Towards the bottom left of next screen is a drop down menu where you can select non dedicated servers. In there you will find a list of available servers. If the one you want is not showing it's likely that it is passworded. Select the option on bottom left to reveal them. For your friends to access you server, they need to follow instructions above to locate your server.

So this whole thread is one big joke. Grapeshot has done something they DO NOT have to. They took the time to create SINGLEPLAYER and even Non-Dedicated servers just like Ark has. So how is that rolling over the little guy that bought into a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE game? Please any of you that feel wronged by GS answer that? Sure I play the SP version of the game now. Mostly because all the servers out there are based around toxic PVP or carebear no challenge PVE. Finally I can enjoy the actual game with no one ruining it. No more dictors runnings servers feeling better than the rest. So it seems that GS has given the solo/small companies a HUGE gift. Still people seem to think they have ENTITLEMENT to something more. Still people are here crying that it is not enough. If you do not like or can not enjoy a MMO then why in the world did you buy one? This topic just seems to be the Toxic community that is Steam sneaking in the door here. So all you whiners just give it up. You got more then you deserve out of a game never marketed for solo or small groups as should be understood because it is labeled as part of a genre of games that has been around for a very long time. If people can not read for COMPREHENSION then that is your individual issue and no one else's PS report me if you feel offended I could careless. I speak my mind as if I am talking to adults that you mostly claim to be. If you are under 16 and want to go crying to someone, or just idenify as a crybaby great cry. More people need to shut you whiners down that can find things to complain about when there is really nothing there. So sad that people today do not know how to behave. Complete reason that PVP gameplay will never be anything but a Toxic Pool of waste.

Will be good if we have auto walk so the guy walk without have to hold a key in the keyboard, so you can gross flat areas without pressing a key.

I always find humor in post where the dev's talked about this game being pattered off of Eve Online. Being a gamer who played Eve for over 10 years. I simply see nothing in this game that resembles anything in Eve online. I have actually been trying to understand the direction of this game. Perhaps I just need to drink another beer.....

I first noticed this the day that they ubernerfed everything but tames and melee against AoD (about a month ago). At that time, if you couldn't kill them, they would just keep standing around. Even worse, if you went back with the same map after about 10 minutes, you would spawn ANOTHER horde that also wouldn't despawn. Since that time, I've found high level undead somebody left behind on my island that persisted for days, and even survived a server patch. Pure conjecture, but I am guessing that they swung the nerf hammer so wildly and with so little consideration of repercussions that they even nerfed their own functions. They probably had a script that used to destroy the undead after a timer using a function that the undead are now invulnerable to. To think that this was done to prevent powerleveling of ships on PvP... I have neither face, nor palm sufficient for this.

Safe haven. Why ya gotta be such a douche? It was simply a thread letting settlers know which island owners wouldn't raze.

cheat saveworld that should create a save point. However like in ark, I think if you discover an issue, do the command then kill the game via task manager. Other wise if you exit to the menu the save done by the command get's over written. After doing the command, you can probably open explorer and copy the save to another directory

Had a tannery disappear while traveling by boat, no bed travel. The only thing I could think is it was hanging off a ceiling, not fully on a foundation or ceiling, so maybe it was considered a single structure. Hasn't happened since I moved it to a full ceiling. I save manually every so often, just copy the saved atlas folder. Reverted back a few times, works well, considering looking into how private servers set up the backups so it's more like Ark with half-hour auto backups.

Sadly Grapshot cant Patch some peoples behavior the more reason we like to Talk to new settlers before they build so we can manage the Space on our island so no one Blocks each other.

The ideas as a solution are very nice, but every mmo has an auto walk button. I do not understand why this game doesn't have that. I have rheuma (fybromyalgia) and playing Atlas for several hours a day is killing my wrist. I am trying to try one of these solutions but sadly do not have any weights to place down. I truly hope autowalk can be added! You shouldn't have to work with toothpick or weights to play a game comfortably.

I will definitely do that for you boomer That would be kind of cool being the only console player with that skin. Everyone would ask me “whoa, how did you get that?” And I would reply with “you don’t want to know”

I think alot of players will return when there is just more content. You can plow through all the endgame stuff with a small group of people in a couple of weeks. People aren't happy doing day to day things. Part of the reason ark made it so you needed to tame almost every dino to have kibble for everything.

There isn't just a lack of a relevant AI enemy, when it comes down to it PvP is meant for Mega Companies. It's either them or small groups with a lot of time on there hands going around and sinking ships/wiping small bases. Why do that do that? Because the goal of any survival game (well, survival with PvP) is to chase everyone else off the server. And people are either consciously trying to do that, or simply following that pattern of play (ie, "that's how survival games are supposed to be played"). Even if they added an AI enemy won't stop people from sinking ships, etc. Boredom is only part of the issue. Three things are needed. 1) That everyone can participate in conflicts, Mega Companies along side smaller companies and solo players. 2) A reason for conflicts as well are rewarding participation and rewarding certain actions. Conflicts that have clearly marked opponents as well as clearly marked neutral parties. And 3) a system that discourages players for the behaviors that chase a lot of people off the servers (sinking ships "4 teh lulz", raiding/wiping small bases "jus cus u can").

2B. I am on the No-Auction-House Team. Because I like the idea of player shops. So maybe we can have the advantages of an auction house + the shops? How about a physical Marketplace on each Freeport where you can open a player shop on a fixed location. You have to rent this location and the whole marketplace becomes an auction house. The reason for this is simply because I would like to see trade happening in the world. Not in a menu where you can hit a button to list all offerings sorted by price. A large market creates the immersion of a lot of items. If I compare this to the auction house in the early World of Warcraft versions where unlimited items would be stored in a vault. I prefer the marketplace with physical limitations. Sometimes less is more. Especially in terms of efficiency. This tension creates fun for some people. Believe it or not but I played on a minecraft server once and they implemented this market perfectly! You rent a shop in on a fixed spot (so it looks like a market) And from there you could offer stuff for other stuff. Most people wanted diamonds because they are rare in this game. but most importantly it wasn't a one way shop. My main complaint about player shops is that you can only sell stuff for gold. You cannot buy stuff and offer gold as shop keeper. I cannot go with an inventory full of wood to a shop and get gold in return. (If it is possible please tell me how) And here comes the catch why a real marketplace is better imo than a menu. It takes effort to compare the price of something. It is a lot of fun to look for good trades and sometimes you can find stuff you can buy in one shop and sell it in another still making profit because the shop keeper was to lazy to look for it. This is good for new players or Solos who cannot afford their own shop. They can go there as a person with resources and leave with some gold. Perfect experience. Not a menu! I like your other points. I don't mind auto trade even if it is more efficient. I think the benefits of this you described would be real.

Not being a regular user of reddit, I have a hard time believing that as a game's reddit goes, so goes the game. I think reddit is one component as it's certainly a social media platform that lends itself in many ways to the gaming community's needs, but E3, steam reviews, youtube vids, live streaming, media reviews, and believe it or not, good old fashioned word of mouth ("See kids, this is what us old timers do when you lot are texting and facetiming each other, it's super old school and it's called having an actual honest to dog face to face conversation. Someday you'll try it, probably when the power goes out."). There are more components than just reddit to a game's public face, especially when you talk to gamers over a certain age who have been playing games since before social media was even a thing (there are more of us than you think). Even if we accept the notion that it's all about reddit, Atlas's poor performance thus far would still be about more than just people being jackholes to each other. I have little doubt redditers are also talking about the game's functional and structural shortcomings as well as any perceived abundance of asshattery.

@boomervoncannon and @Realist you guys really need to pay attention to what you read. The OP @Darkweaver is PvP, he was talking about PvP, the OP was about PvP. Did it say PvP, well no, but he did comment on the cost of 12k gold which is the amount to raze on PvP. So yes technically it was taken off topic, not on the subject itself but on the mode, i.e. PvP. And no the change was NOT reverted for PvP. The OPs points still stand for him as nothing has changed for him.

I was going to say Blackstorm Raiders on EU PvE on D5, D6, and A8 will not raze. Our only requirement for settlers is to login to our Discord and post that you would like to settle. That way we have a way to contact you. We also encourage you to hop onto Discord and actively participate in our community. Things have been slow as of late but we frequently do Hydra and Power stone runs, Ice Cave, and Kraken. If you help with Hydra we will split the mythos. We also have a great trade system and a great breeding program.

Ähmm, are you living in some parallel universe, dear Mr. author ? Your ships are sunk if someone wants them to be sunk. It does not matter if you build stone gates (half of a broadside..game over), it does not matter if you place puckle, gun or whatever turrets. You wont even scratch the outer hull of the raiders. Stone walls of any kind are ridiculous, a few grenades out of a free climbers backpack or a nice cannon placed directly offline in front of your base.. directly game over. Pets ? Oh my god.. pets are auto-history in the moment you tame them. You cant even bring them into -relative- safety into a high rock base but have to store them on the ground inside of some shelter = see grenades & cannons. Recently Grapeshot frankly showed their ugly face very open : Any mega company can wipe any solo player on „their“ island with just a push on a button. Directly game over for ALL of your assets on that island. The once free ATLAS world turned into a socialism. Exactly what is actually happening to our countries. In this respect, Grapeshot shows some realism by killing players freedom piece by piece, indeed. I beg you, please wake up and face reality !

Oh, you mean they don't count..for you... in the same way that the taxes tenants pay don't seem to count for you because you repeatedly make the factually incorrect statement that tenants don't pay rent or contribute anything. Since you have absolutely zero proof of your assertion that most of the people responding here don't play the game (don't even bother mentioning Realist, he's the one guy, everyone already knows), why should anyone take it at face value? It defies common sense. The biggest negative number here is the negative amount of logic or facts backing too many of your statements on this topic. You just continue to assert things that are verifiably false or that you cannot possibly know to be true and that defy common sense. Based on your statements here, your perception of what and who should count is skewed far away from anything based upon the typical player and towards your own hardcore play all the time mindset. Let's just be clear about what your statements really mean when taken in proper context of understanding the lens through which they are made.

I understand how this change effects PvE, but you guys really hijacked my thread LOL. I created this thread to discuss how this change, yet again, benefits the larger companies over smaller ones in PvP. There is already a huge power gap and it is not linear. Due to everything related to farming and how BPs work there is an exponential power gap. The current situation is this. There are mega alliances on PvP servers; consisting of the biggest companies on the entire Atlas. If you are a team of 1-3-5 people, they will not invite you to their alliance not just because you are not of use to them but because they are limited on how many allies they can have. So they stick with the biggest boys. There are a handful of elite clubs out there who get to experience the end game and the mythical naval warfare, and the rest of the player base are just insects to them. Being the small guy, If you live on lawless you have no raid timer, you can get offline raided. You WILL get offline raided. If you are a settler on someone's island, all of what you guys discussed for PvE applies and even more scenarios apply due to PvP. If you own a small island, someone who has the numbers, without any fear of repercussions because of the mentioned exponential power gap and sheer numbers thanks to alliance meta, can raid you at will. A bigger company raids a smaller company that's just life in PvP but this whole mega alliance meta is making it so much easier. The fast decay change earlier made it very difficult for the small guy to keep control of his island. Anyone can now come and build on my island without permission and use it as a base of operation to grief me. That 24 hour timer to demo works outside raid time and there could be a lot of places to hide a small shack for a smart PvP player on a bigger island especially. And now the ability to raze an island... Before these two changes I had the chance to persevere on my island even if i was raided. I could simply come back and make sure they can never fully wipe my foundations. Which is something that happened to me. A company who was in a mega alliance wanted to settle on my island, they came and raided everything, but eventually gave up trying to get the island because i had ways to deny them. Raze an island in this current state of the game is ONLY useful to the mega griefer. And 12k gold is a pathetic number that doesn't mean anything at all. Especially when you are just done raiding someone who, if worth his salt, already had a decent amount.

The majority (which he made up in his head) have not been seen in PvE regarding supporters, there's a simple explanation for that.... people don't support it. The majority that do support it are playing PvP so that majority has no say in PvE. You are right, Martyn is the minority in PvE supporters. You know why he supports it? Because he's a landowner and unfortunately one of the few landowners that is arrogant enough to think he is the only one that has rights on his island and that he can wipe anyone he wants in a PvE environment..... you know why? BECAUSE NO-ONE CAN FIGHT BACK AND WIPE HIM. He also plays 16 hours a day 6 days a week because he is unemployed. He thinks of that as the base line for everyone else, and if you don't play Atlas every day you have no right in commenting on Atlas. But hopefully once the weekend is over we'll see what the Devs have to say regarding all of our comments and hopefully they'll realise the majority of PvE players, which as you say are settlers, are not happy at all with this. If they listen to the minority, which is basically Martyn, then that says a lot about their decision making. Anyone looking at the feedback from this recent announcement, in regards to PvE only, will clearly see that there is little to no support for it.

Martyn, if you have so many issues with the game you feel the need to continuously post how bad it is, maybe find a different game? Either you just like to hear yourself complain or you want others to wallow in your misery. Are you a lonely housewife or something? lol.

I refer to the companies of people numbering in the dozens to the hundreds.. not the odd solo player here or there. As for these forums.. most of the people responding here, don't even play the game.. they count as a negative number.
