^ Buys a game with boat, sails, and an ocean- complains about boat, sails, and the ocean. I think they did a wonderful job with the sailing mechanic, its not a motorboat.

Note the number of people who focus on the word pirate and ignore the word fantasy.

It's really quite simple. Create a separate category for building structures, with different rules, if not already done. Allow them to clip into the terrain, but not crafting or storage structures. S+ has already done this for ARK when used as a mod. Objects can clip, into terrain and other objects, but crafting and storage containers that clip even just a little bit into something else, cannot be accessed. Thus no exploit. But this current coding has created the situation above...access under a would be base structure, because you cannot close it off.

Errrr... guys, right now wind is TOTALLY PREDICTABLE. It's just slowly rotates clockwise and changes it's strength from week to strong and back. During rainfall - It also rotates clockwise but a bit faster. After rain is over - it goes back to where it was before rain. That's it. So you plan your journey, knowing that. Sometimes I do a bit farther routes, but because of wind - I go there faster.

Nice to finally see an example of someone protected by the new system, I guess it really does work. With mixed reports from people who got evicted, I was never quite sure if that was happening on old servers or new. Of course that person still is stuck with a bad landlord, but at least he has grandfathered protection against him.

    1. Ship-Rear Cosmetics/Skins So we have figureheads, steering wheel skins and soon, sail skins. This might be a large suggestion, but the Brig and Galleons have cosmetic "cabin" styling on the backs of them. I propose new skins be made for the Ship itself that adds cosmetic changes to the back of ships. Maybe dragon heads from the back, working up the side? A skull? Hydra head? Cyclops hands? 2. PvE Servers, Allow Ship Claiming After Inactivity Currently, there is no ship claiming on the PvE servers. I feel like ships should be claimable if the player and/or company has not been online or entered the area within maybe 2 weeks? 1 week? Or simply cause the ship to be "Unclaimed" after 1 or 2 weeks of inactivity. 3. Repair All Structures It would be a tremendous Q.O.L. improvement to allow NPC crew to repair all structures including ceilings, cannons, walls, chairs, e.t.c. when the ship is anchored and the NPCs are unseated. Optionally, create a new structure to be placed on a ship in which you assign an npc crewmate to be in charge of repairing all other misc. structures on the ship. 4. Unseat All Crew I don't know about other players, but when I get off my ship, I unseat at least 4 crew members to ensure my ship's essentials are repaired before the next time I set off. This would be another amazing Q.O.L. improvement for the ship to have an implemented option to unseat all crew. 5. Man Your Stations Add an option to NPC crew on ships that assigns them a specific position on-board. Then add an additional option on-board the ship for assigned crew to "Man Stations." 6. Handling Sail; Reverse Allow Handling Sails to provide faster Reverse speeds. As it stands, ships can currently back up no matter what. If the Ship layout includes a Handling Sail, this ship should reverse slightly faster. 7. Captain's Deck Currently, the Galleon is the only ship that comes with a snap-able slot for a receded Deck to be placed higher up at the back of the ship. I propose another optional Deck slot be added to the back end of Brigantines and Schooners, like the Galleons, for cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing ship designs. (The Brigantine is especially difficult to make the ceilings and walls line up with the back end of the ship.) 8. Careening @mKHammerBro Introduce a new mechanic to ground Ships to scrape and clean the underside of the hull. In the past, this process was called Careening, or Heaving Down. Barnacles and other sea life clings to the underside and rots away at the wood. This could also introduce a new way to repair your ship's planks or add a temporary repair and/or speed buff to your ship. 9. Mooring @ikarirain Introduce a new item to be crafted at Smithy's from the Seamanship tree, Bollard. There are instances where a ship is too large to reach an anchor-able point, so it's been proposed to allow ships the ability to be moored in by ropes to Bollards, which can be placed on piers or shipyards, to safely "anchor" the ship in your territory, given anchoring isn't possible. Additionally, increase the amount of Bollards needed to moor a ship depending on the ship's size and/or weight. 10. Select All or Individual Sail Controls @Shakarian Ability to control all sails from the wheel, or select which individual sails to give certain commands to. For instance, all sails selected by default. But press keys similar to the cannon crews to deselect certain sails. 11. Look-Out / Telescope @Aristocrates It is known that being at the top of a mast gives the player a slightly larger render-distance so they can see ships and such ahead of time, but it would be nicer if there was a Telescope sort of attachment to build on the Smithy that could be attached to the top of the mast, further improving this render distance for preparation or avoidance purposes. 12. Collidable Figureheads @Grodgen Collidable Figureheads: Currently they have no collision. You can't stand on them and it also limits their functionality as actual figureheads. 13. Rotatable Weight & Handling Sails @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to rotate Weight Sails and Handling Sails 180 degrees when placed, depending on your desired placement at the front or back of the ship. 14. Rigging That Connects The Front Sail To The Figurehead @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to connect sails via rigging placed at the front of the to the bow sprite/figurehead. 15. Catch Net @RebelMarmoset Add a structure for the front or sides of ships that catches flotsam and/or fish. Consequently, the longer the net is lowered, or the more items it catches, the more it slows the ship down. If you like any of these options, please reply to this thread with your comments and feel free to suggest some more ideas pertaining to ships! And a special thank you to @Jatheish for taking the time to read this! Loving the game.

Ahoy Pathfinders! Well, it’s been a few weeks since ATLAS 1.5 went live and we’re pleased with the progress thus far. Thank you again for all of the support and feedback - especially during the PTR and beyond. This Captain’s Log comes straight off the back of today’s Livestream and we’d like to offer a recap for those who may have missed it. The purpose of the Livestream was to answer questions asked by the Community and to discuss some of the things you care about along with showing off our upcoming content slated for the May mega-patch. We collated questions on our Community Hub, but, in the interest of time, we focused on answering a few big topic ones initially. We will be pulling more from the community’s responses and addressing those throughout more Captain’s Log and general outreach on social and our community hub. If you didn’t have a chance to watch the steam, worry not as you can check out the entire VOD here! Livestream Recap! Before we begin going through the content in the mega update, we want to cover some topics that frequently came up in our Q&A thread. Please keep in mind that we’re not going to be able to cover everything, however, we will be looking over the thread at your suggestions, feedback, and try to cover more in the coming weeks through these logs and additions to our patch. Will there be a wipe with this Mega Update? No. We have no plans to wipe the networks with the next mega update. The game is in Early Access and we don’t want to be afraid to make big changes for the betterment of the game in the long-run, but we balance that with the time you guys have invested and the feedback you’ve provided. Adding new content, including exploring areas doesn’t necessarily mean that a wipe will be necessary. The last mega update required a wipe as we were making some grand changes to the core game like claiming and ownership of islands, and we look at that type of situation as an extreme case which would advance the game’s development. Does ATLAS have lore, do you guys plan to explore on that through quests or other means? The world of ATLAS has a history and lore that we are building through the environments and things like discovery zones and notes. We’re handling this similarly to the early days of ARK, where the lore was sprinkled in but none of the dots could really be connected. Over the course of development, as we solidify our game mechanics and technical features, you might start to see more of this lore introduced into the world in various ways that ties everything together. We have some really fun stuff planned for the future in terms of quest lines and world building. What’s planned for the state of Piracy as an action? We know this is a question that has been raised a lot, and especially recently with this update’s reveal of content that may not be as pirate focused as some would like. We are interested in how these various pieces of content play out and it’s important to state that what is in the current game may not be in the ultimate game. This means we’re going to try different things and experiment a lot, especially throughout early access. Over the weeks and months ahead, the game will continue to evolve as we sail towards our goal of making the most fun pirate fantasy game, as opposed to the most realistic pirate game. On that note, this upcoming mega patch does introduce a fair bit of content related to seafaring and the pirate playstyle, and we’ll continue to look into ways we can further establish this via new multidimensional gameplay mechanics as well as rebalancing and tweaking existing systems. Where is the Pirate Hat cosmetic from playing pre-1.5? It’s coming! Between addressing bugs and server performance along with working on the mega patch, it kinda got stuck in our pipeline! Yes, we will give you all your fancy hats soon, sorry for the wait. XBOX? We’re going to have some very exciting Xbox news for you in the coming months. We’re thrilled to have you aboard, our plans haven’t changed and can’t wait to bring it to you this year. Stay tuned! And now...onto the update itself! Unlike the last Mega Patch, this one is more content focused and less systemic. We still plan to make more systemic changes, however, we want to give our previous changes some time to settle, so we can see how they play out and decide what steps we’d like to take next. That means this for this patch, we’ll be introducing some new weapons/combat related items for players and ships, structures, items to generally improve QOL, cosmetics, creatures, and an explorable area, the Ice Dungeon! New Cosmetics: Hydra Steering Wheel, Hydra Hide Armour Set, and Cyclops Heavy Armour Set! Similarly to our other skins, these will be purchasable at your local Freeport. It’ll be the first time we’ll have skinned a steering wheel, and it’s applied by accessing it’s inventory and equipping it in the skin slot. The skins will be able to be painted and we plan to have many more exotic wheel skins in the future. New Offensive Structure: Torpedo Launcher (and torpedoes!) Torpedo Launchers are a new Golden Age ruin item which allows crew and captains to fire torpedos at their targets. The launcher must be snapped to a Gunport location and can be used manually or via the Captain’s Firing mode. Shooting a torpedo at or above the water’s surface will make it follow that path on the surface, and angling it downwards will have it follow that trajectory, like a missile. We can assure you that we are aware of the ways in which Torpedo’s could be problematic in terms of the meta and we’ll be keeping a close eye on their balance. New Boat Attachment: Cargo Racks! A new storage option for medium and large boats. The cargo rack is snapped to dingy hangar locations and will significantly reduce the weight of any item inside of its inventory. The cargo rack can only be accessed when the boat has anchored, and if the boat is sunk, the cargo rack will turn into a special-flotsam which contains the inventory floating out at sea, providing the potential for it to be stolen by another pirate crew! New Cart Attachment: Large Storage Box! Cargo Carts now own up to their namesake and can carry additional cargo! Attach a large storage chest to a cargo cart will automatically reduce the weight of the items (this effect will be disabled on ships), to help players transport resources more easily on land. New Tool: Fishing Net! Pleasantly pass the time at sea on long journeys, as you cast your new fishing net to satisfy your hunger and deepen your pockets! New Ballista Ammo Type: Boat Harpoon Stop your fleeing enemies in their tracks and reel them in with the new Boat Ballista Harpoon! Load up your ballistic and fire the projectile, if it successfully attaches you and your target will be unable to move. Reel them in before they destroy the harpoon. You can only successfully harpoon same-or-smaller ship classes. New Weapon: Spear Gun! With a highly accurate piercing projectile, a rapid reload rate, and the ability to reuse ammo the Spear Gun is the best choice for your underwater weaponry! New Creature: Olfend This quirky looking creature narrowly avoided being burdened with the moniker: the Camelephant. The unique Olfend possesses some utilitarian attributes based around water. Water can be collected as you ride it across fertile land or by drinking from lakes and the considerate Olfend will store it, distribute it amongst water containers or...spit it in a friend’s eye. The delicately-legged creature also has the potential to be more heroic than it may appear by being put to use in extinguishing fires. New Creature: Giant Tortugar We’re pretty fond of this creature and the aspects it can bring to player’s experience of the game. In some ways the Tortuga acts like an armoured personnel carrier and, in others, it is similar to an organic submarine. Nestle under its’ sectioned shell for protection or stay sheltered as it plunges into the depths and affords its passengers reduced oxygen consumption. New Level: Ice Dungeon An enormous dungeon found deep in the depths of the polar region. We can see that this was clearly once occupied by pathfinders but now deserted. Rumour has it that they were slaughtered or their fear of a legendary and elusive mythical beast steered them away. Additional Mega-Patch Notes! New Weapon: Crossbow New Structure: 3x4 Medium Gates New Structure: Ice Box - a high-insulation box for transporting ice. Has “active” mode that will drain ice but reduce surrounding temperature (reverse fire). Consumes less ice if “indoors”. Extends spoil time of things inside, but greatly extends the storage time of ice. Also has an option to turn ice into water to consume. New Resource: Ice - Must be harvested from cold zones. Decays relatively quickly if not in “insulated” storage. Can be consumed to reduce temperature for a short duration (15s per ice cube, max of 5 mins). Relatively heavy. New Feature: Company-wide map markers New Feat: Instant Hotbar Equip QOL: Structure Weights now displayed on items QOL: Revamped Skill Tree UI QOL: Breeding Temperature Gate adjustments QOL: Faster Reload skills now also scale the corresponding equip time With more notes still to come! ISO: BLACKWOOD Prepare for a dark twist on the Equatorial biome with ISO Blackwood. Dark jungles, caves, alcoves, villages, homes, and farms, an interesting array of animals and a new concept; The Mire. Wade through thick green waters teeming with dangerous creatures, rare plant life, and the occasional Gorgon to find buried treasure, lost corpses and even the giant and ancient snake boss Anacython. In early June we expect to be able to release our special mod-map, Blackwood, created by Iso, the level designer behind ARK’s popular mod-map Crystal Isles. This is not something we’ll be supporting specifically on our Official Network, as it was designed and intended to be used for single servers an example of a stunning mod map that can be hosted unofficially. This specific map will be set up so that you can still enjoy all the mechanics that ATLAS has to offer, whilst hosting it as a standalone server with no additional database setup required! Latest Patch Notes CURRENT V103.0 - Player Shops only cost upkeep on Non-Lawless PvE-style Homeservers. (Technically in Official PvP too, but only on the non-lawless homeservers that are effectively PvE regions) - Servers can use this server config value to scale the player shop upkeep: Game.ini: [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] PlayerShopGoldUpkeepMultiplier=0.08 Default value is 0.08, for a 92% reduction from the previous rate. - Player Shops are now limited to 70 slots - You are now allowed to build more than one player shop per team on an official homeserver, now you can build as many as you want to pay the upkeep for. - War Declaration cost has been reduced to 40k gold and 500 of each additional material, rather than 1000. - Ability to respawn on your current server when you die on a lawless/freeport server that isn't set to be your home server. - Water creatures will no longer lose their targets close to the water surface. - Magic Mythos is now enabled on Official Servers: bonus 2x Harvest, XP, Taming, and Gold rates for the weekend. v102.62 - Fixed a client-side crash v102.61 - Optimizations for creature food consumption and structure tagging v102.5 - Fixed some rare crashes. - Stationed NPCs (on boats and land) no longer take damage from guns on Official Servers. - Added a new Game.ini ShooterGameMode config bool: bSeatedNPCIgnoreGunDamage=1 v102.47 - You can now reveal unconscious targets contesting your own claimflag (pinwheel option activated on your claimflag) v102.46 - Magic Mythos is now enabled on Official Servers: bonus 2x Harvest, XP, Taming, and Gold rates for the weekend. I don't' mind torpedoes as there is no way to shoot things under water. But the video they showed it would sink a giant ship with one torpedo. THAT is what is going to ruin the game. They should be no more powerful than the cannons.

I would really like to tax our own company members like you can tax others. In Eve, taxes affected your own people and it allowed for the ability for guilds to provide a lot of ships and stuff for their members. The same would be nice for ATLAS. Being able to tax company members would allow for most companies to be able to provide for their members and reduce the needs to resource constantly.

Is there any chance we can get a dinghy for moving cargo? Right now, the only way to move stuff from land bases to sea and vice versa is to carry it by hand, a trip at a time. This motivates people to park their giant ship as close as humanly possible to land, weaving through the million shipyards to try and not have a 3 minute swim to your boat (dodging sharks the whole time). Could we get a cargo moving dinghy-style ship that we can load up with a reasonable amount of cargo, move to our ship, and then retract into the dinghy launch? That would allow us to bulk move stuff on or off the ship and park further out.

There should be an option to change the ownership of a ship without the necessity to claim. An option where you give away your ship voluntarily. Wit that option you could sell ships to other players or tribes. Why should you do that? Well for gold or for roleplay. You could banish people from your tribe and set them out in the ocean on a raft that they can actually interact with.

If you try to use a melee weapon vs a player who is moving, your man basicallly stops in place to make a slow attack, locked on where they were to your client, while your enemy's server side character easily moves away from the spot you got stuck into attacking. I appreciate the effort it took to create target lock functionality, but it makes melee combat worse

Not true all the time. Science fiction can have fantasy elements in the story, and Fantasy can have science fiction elements. In other words, you can have some serious tech items in a fantasy story, so long as it is a smaller aspect of the lore. If it is a the focus of the story, with much less fantasy elements, then no, it would be a science fiction story, with fantasy elements.

I don't have a problem with torpedoes. Read the lore...this is not Earth, and there was existing technology in the lore, that has been lost, and is being rediscovered. Heck, are you aware that they just figured out how Roman Concrete was made, and why it was so superior to our concrete? Ours erodes away in the ocean, after about 30 years tops. Theirs is still around over 2,000 years later. We finally figured out the secret ingredient. What I have a problem with is this...there is no counter to a submarine, except maybe another submarine with torps. Unacceptable with the submarine locked behind the Kraken.

I think the Ops idea is worthy of discussion. Anyone should be able to ride. Now ride, harvest and fight effeciently is another matter and skills to perfect that would be a welcome addition if done right. I also dislike the idea you have to use skill points to use a rifle or tool that does more damage or harvests more. Its the same damn thing......just better built.

Fairly simple way to look at it For every wild level there is 1 stat point given at random into 6 possible stats. So a level 30 bear could be... 5/5/5/5/5/5... or 15/3/3/3/3/3... or so on, it’s all random if you are looking to breed super bears you need a bear with high stats in each category. So basically one with high health, one with high oxygen, one with high Stam, etc. when you start breeding the offspring can get either of its parent stats in each category. You want to try to pass on the high stat. Takes a lot of time and luck but eventually you can end up with some very high level bears. For example if you are able to find 6 bears with say 15 stats into each specific category, then successfully pass on those stats to get better and better bears you could end up with a 15/15/15/15/15/15 bear which would be level 90 when born.

Apparently, something as fundamental to the game, as being able to build structures, and secure your base, isn't a high enough priority. I mean, it's literally the core mechanic of the game.

It's also the foundations on floors, they all go in until you get to the bloody last part, typical. When you put them down most are blue but then you get floor that dips slightly and it goes orange, you either have to put 2 down if possible which is a pain or scrap the idea. Don't know why this wasn't fixed while we tested all this before the big update, should have been on the fix list when moving forwards with the big update.

Hi, would it be possible, to make the shipyards a place to design ships the way, that parts mounted on the ships are possible to pickup as long as the ships are not released? It is really great, that one can pickup parts for 30 secs. but when building a ship, it sometimes turns out, that, for example, a sail should be one "snappoint" further. The way it is now, one must craft a new sail. So it would be more fun to design a ship without grinding mats for each part that is placed in a "wrong" place.
  37. 1 point
The snaps need a delay also. So if you use Q to select a snap point, it should remain there for a time, so when you click to place, it doesn't jump to a new spot.

Listen to these entitled kids who do not pay for an island and instead ride off of someone else coattails then demand more privileges when paying zero gold. How about this if you want to make all the rules go get your own island. My group started out as only 2 people and we easily took control of an island and held it still to this day. There is so many ways to get gold it is easily possible to do. Stop crying about it and make your own way if you don't like it.

I am not opposed to investing some points into riding. I am opposed to people having to invest points into taming in order to ride. I am opposed to people having to invest points into crafting, in order to use. Create, and Use, should be two different trees, or at least two different branches in the tree. Just as you do not have to invest in Sneak in order to tame, though only a fool would not invest in sneak.

I +1 this to. Sometimes you can sink a whole wall into terrain with a bit poking out, and other times, a pixel is obstructed and you can't place anything. Particularly annoying on the Galleon to. There are certain snap points introduced with some of the decking, but, sometimes, I don't want to add decking just to fill a gap. Like the S+ stuff, that would be great.
  41. 1 point
I simply do not understand why they have not already fixed this. If there is an exploit, and this is the fix...find a better fix, because this is unacceptable.

Don’t stand behind it’s head, it will say press “e” to feed but it won’t work. Instead , what I do is stand near it’s belly and run in every 16 seconds to feed (yes, you will unfortunately need to do the math in your head). It takes a little practice to run in just far enough to feed but not too far to take damage. Once you do feed it should stop mid attack and start eating. Tricky but doable, wear plate as suggested. When they fix the range bug it should be fine, taming elephants at launch was very nice because you could use the spot behind their head and camp out there.

Welcome to this guide on Atlas Treasure maps. This will get filled in more at a later day! The purpose of this guide is to instruct and educate players amongst the atlas world how to functionally and progressively understand the workings of all Treasure maps. The nodes for treasure maps are shored messages laid inside a bottle. This is found to be the case but I like to think the maps are etched on the bottles themselves. It makes for a more swarthy adventure. There are varying colours and rarity gradients of treasure map nodes. See picture #1 which is pink coloured in the light of the sun and has a rarity of 1.9 and is upon the laden shoreline of one newb spawn area. I've collected two and haven't recieved anything in my inventory or quest log. Treasure maps pending Im BornSvg (Stands for "Born Savage") I casually like to stream on twitch.tv/bornsvg and upload my personal life on Instagram under BornSvg. #bornsvg
