  1. Not to be too hash man(because you are new and all) but do you think you are going to get some WOW type of scenario? most of these people are from ark and they are “very much” either pve or pvp. Depending on how you act they will either hate you or hate your guts lol. the company you decided to work for gave you a bar that is way higher than you thought you had. Even if you do a good job, expect a “well you did your job” attitude. You better take that and be appreciative of it! No questions asked. After you have done your job for over 6 months(the typical probationary period for any job) then we can start giving kudos. but please, if you consider yourself a professional you will realize that any praise given within the probationary period was given by people that would literally praise a toothbrush for brushing teeth. believe me, there are some easy to please “people” here. Lol. Just do what you got hired to do and you will be fine. Your predecessors luckily left a very low bar for you, so thank god for that right? you think these guys got it @PeglegTheAngry
  2. No. You're confused because you have bought into a way of seeing things that does not account for me. I don't believe in the fence. The fence is an illusion, an arbitrary distinction that our tribal instincts push us to construct. The flaw with the concept of the fence is that it locks us into a side regardless of objective facts, reason, compelling evidence, or truth. Picking a side of the fence means I'm for the devs when they make poor decisions and against them when the people criticizing them are being foolish, childish or self indulgent. Instead I'm for the side that hopes for a game worth playing, but does not shirk from offering feedback that is critical of design decisions that I think are poor. I think GrapeCard™ both deserves praise for resisting some of the short sighted anti consumer practices like lootboxes that so called AAA studios are exploiting to the hilt so badly that governments are starting to feel compelled to step in and intervene with legislation and regulation, and also criticism for pushing Atlas into Early Access when it was barely a playable product and should have been considerably further along the development cycle before asking anyone to pay for it. The world is not black and white and although I understand the urge to simplify by seeing it in these more simplistic terms, reality is most often shades of grey. No one is right all the time or wrong all the time. Development teams are made up of fallible human beings, so are playerbase. Picking a side would mean foregoing criticism that is valid of either party if it’s not the one I picked, or praise when it is called for. I call it like I see it, and the side I'm on is the side of reason, of attacking arguments instead of people. Debate is healthy. Disagreement is natural. Mudslinging because someone disagrees with you is childish. If you doubt me ask the people who have been here all along. They know me.
  3. This will get you a warehouse full of generic resources. And If you have 103 ships out on a single trader, You sent them alot of stuff, their warehouse is likely gone or out of resources. So good luck getting anything back. This is likely to happen just after trading you all the generic shit you cant use. Before great praise, people need to validate.
  4. I understand things are just getting worked out with markets, but it is starting to irritate me a little. I built a market within 30 m of my Warehouse which had a couple of productive windmills spinning away. All good! I then decided to try and get some trades working. I set up a load of trades based on the content of my warehouse and how much I was prepared to pay for various resources. All good so far. I clicked the find trades button and realised that all the traders were in my zone. Having travelled in the zone a little, I realised my trades where a little optimistic. There is no way I was going to get Gems for Copper when no gems were available in my zone. So, ok re-think right lets look at the forums, always good for a bit of advice. As a result scrapped everything and set up a load of trades one for one same products. Seems strange to me but I soon had more Parrot eggs than any one ever needed and enough Med cannon balls to sink a fleet of ships of the damned (if I could afford a boat to put them in), But lo praise the Devs! money, the gold stuff seemed to be accumulating at the rate of about 1000 gold per day. Being a sly and greedy sort (Typical bloody pirate) I immediately thought if I get this hoard of gold from a little Farm, Warehouse and Market setup I would get mutcho more by expanding my empire. So off I go, Into the newly built Schooner (It is actually the second I built this season, but it turns out schooners are proper shit combat vessels, they last no time at all against red Galleons of the Damned; especially when ambushed on a zone line). After visiting about 50 or so islands I finally find a location to set up a second Warehouse, Farm and Market setup. I was so happy I immediately setup my trades and offered my services out to the tiny amount of customers in the new zone and soon had some trades going. All good. I then notice a uninhabited island in the island chain. A little scouting revealed it had no food but ample Wood, Stone, Metal and Flint (always just thought of that as a type of stone but what do I know). So using the mass of rescores from base one and two I suddenly had a third market up and running. After setup, all was good and as well as trading with Base 2, at I noticed, half income I managed to get this market to trade with one other market (The island owners). All was good. I noticed the Main base income had slipped a little and I was no longer able to see my active trades on that market. But then the devs decided to have a restart this morning. As I am luck enough to work from home, I was able to log back on almost immediately after the restart. And guess what, no working trades anywhere. All my trades have disappeared and I cant seem to get them to work again, even trading with myself wouldn't work. So I trolled through the available trades on all three markets and cancelled everything. I then tried to set up the routes again and I seem to be limited to just three trade routes across the three Markets. WTF I had five running on my single market surely with three markets I should be able to set up fifteen, five on each market. Instead I assume am penalised again for being a solo player. It is almost impossible as a solo player to get room for a shipyard, let alone set up farms, warehouses and markets. Why the **** do we also have to be limited in the trading. If people put the effort into the fu****g game why treat them as if they were a side thought all the time. Some people do not want to be in guilds I have done that shit in numerous WOW type abortions and I do not need that shit in my life any more. Please it is bad enough that it is now impossible for a solo player to do the story line quests and almost impossible to get the high end equipment and blueprints. Don't make markets completely shit as well.
  5. WOW... Okay this stuff is DAM entertaining!! New Dev team takes over and makes a "New World"..... All you guys did was "PRAISE THE DEVS"! When there was a complete reversal of ALL the fixes the old Devs had completed. For the first 2weeks you all STILL praised them for making changes when all they ever did was 3 fixes and NONE of it was an actual FIX!!! Yet you ALL still praised them! WHY???? I was dumfounded..... For crying out loud the old Dev Team made in the first month almost daily fixes to the bugs that we found.....yet none of the "new Dev Team" has even dared attempt any fixes saying that more changes are in the future...<-----excuses! I said from the first week that the new Dev Team was fu-barred!!!! But nooooo....you all said, "Give them some time......give them a chance!"......ROFLMAO HAH....now you all are seeing the light! You were all blinded sheep being led by LIES! At least you all are finally seeing what REALLY is happening here...... bottom line....old dev team got fired due to lack of funds to pay them....New Dev Team comes in meaning they are not making that much money! So you think they're gonna fix the bugs? Hell no! They are just gonna keep making changes until the bugs disappear! In the mean time this "Ship" is sinking!! And if you believe that crap about "future plan" , then I guess your just gonna have to see for yourself once you get there! I know how this is gonna go! I'm 52 yrs old this year and have been playing online games since 1996. I've seen this crap over and over and over....so I know what to expect! But I do like this game atm....I will continue to play it till its gone or another game comes out that peaks my interest. Till then......lets play!
  6. you could take a bucket while you are waiting for green anchor and get the incoming water out of your gunports. Well that is no fun and you have to be online for the 20 minutes. You can also take your robe ladders up so nobody can climb up your ships. In freeport you can't use the grapling hook. If you park on a normal island PvP or PvE you should be sure there is no ramp next to your ship. Others could jump with tames like tigers, lions, horse or crap. For freeport: Devs could just add green anchor instantly. There is no fight allowed and no other reward from green anchor(no crew repair). Green anchor = disabled overweight and crew limit. Well this will not solve the issue that other players can still get on your ship and you can't do anything against it...(in freeport or PvE) praise the griefers for their toxity. Online play = no rules and no conduct. :(
  7. If you are going to praise the new dev team then your words are useless without first condemning the old dev team.
  8. If they can meld pvp with pve I will give them respect. If they can’t and it was simply a new map and they go back to multiple clusters then at that point it wouldn’t matter if the next update was the biggest success ever. I am sure these guys realize this is the last stand for them. If they don’t pull something awesome out of their butts then they and atlas are done. numbers were abysmal even before the wipe was announced so we can’t even blame the low numberS on the wipe. They better get this right. I will praise them if they do but I will also damn them if they don’t. I need that to be clear. Anything other than the best idea ever is a failure at this point. That had two years so yeah. Time for a Hail Mary.
  9. It doesn't have offline play by the looks of it. Not really age of sail either but, it does look interesting. Will keep it in mind when I'm looking for an MMO fix again. Thanks for the heads-up. But that's also exactly what makes Atlas so appealing and unique. It's an age of sail game that can also be played offline, something we haven't seen in a terribly long time. As mentioned, the last worthwhile age of sail game - that's not another pure MMO - is the Sea Dogs series of games (also known as PotC and Age of Pirates) but, the Storm engine they are made on is from the late 90s. There has been nothing that could successfully scratch that age of sail itch until Atlas came along. Missed opportunity really, devs had something unique on their hands and neglected it in favour of doing more of the same elsewhere. And Genesis is not really receiving praise either so they shot themselves in both feet in the end.
  10. Let's hear your dumb takes you can't stand! Please: No dev negativity! You can post dumb takes about the devs, but no posting praise of the devs as a dumb take. Dumb Take 1: " Pirates didn't herd animals! They weren't experts in dressage and farming! " First myth on our list, is also the most common one. It is 100% false, to such a degree its painful. Many pirates, Buccaneers, and privateers often sailed for the chance to purchase their own farms and plantations. Often, pirates would purchase these properties only to hire staff and leave family to maintain them while they served more calls to the sea. Just as we have "base bitches" so did pirates. Pirates certainly did not use animals as heavy machinery like we do as this is simply a mechanic to make our lives as players easier. However, it is not unheard of for pirate raids to consist of stealing or herding pigs, dogs, exotic animals, etc just as we do. In fact, none other than Captain Morgan himself wrangled thousands of hogs in his famous raid on Panama in 1671. Which is a raid strategy plenty of low level or under-powered players use in game, including myself! Secondly, as I already mentioned but it needs repeating: Owning and maintaining their current farm/plantation and livestock was the end goal of many pirates. Dumb Take 2: " Pirates wouldn't be caught dead doing all of this manual labor! " This is one I see people who are not from the America's spouting pretty often. It too, is really wrong: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haematoxylum_campechianum I really don't need to expand on how gathering specific types of a resource is a base mechanic of this game do I? Dumb Take 3: "Devs don't listen" Maybe it's cause I'm a kiss ass, but I feel pretty heard. All of my suggestion threads get dev attention, the devs respond to me on Discord.... Maybe your ideas are bad, repetitive... or.... you said it like an asshole? (Lack of trouble ticket response not withstanding.) Dumb Take 3: "Low Level Fatal Error" Oh man, this one. It was around for Ark too, or any game built in UE. It's literally the generic error name. Lordy. Dumb Take 3: "Atlas is just a Ark Total Overhaul/Ark DLC/Ark Mod/Ark Reskin." This one is by far my biggest hate. Just because its based on bad oversight during launch, as the menu for single player was still left in from using the Ark file Manifests (still uses them today, but Portal 2 uses Half Life 2's manifest... soo.....) This one is just something that comes flying in from salty Ark players who wanted this game to actually be an Ark reskin, when it's not. There is so much that is wildly different from Ark, while leaving some things the same. Which is okay! Alpha animals, tools, taming, temperature and stat mechanics, model reuse... That's all... just fine to use, its already a working system.... why should the devs done anything different; when literally NO ONE ELSE DOES. This is like accusing Rockstar of making Red Dead II a GTA V reskin. Or, better yet, accusing them of reskinning Table Tennis 2005 into GTAIV!
  11. I used a haiku generator. It didn't produce a great haiku, but it gives you reviews of what you wrote, and the reviews are perfect. https://www.poem-generator.org.uk/haiku/ Vitamin - A Haiku by Anon Achromatic isle A complex, vitamin sail in spite of the bear The reviews: Auto Praise for Vitamin - A Haiku "The juxtaposition of vitamin and bear is truly inspired." - The Daily Tale "I don't like short poems. So why am I reviewing a haiku, you may wonder? Well, I liked the title - 'Vitamin'. It went down hill from there." - Enid Kibbler "Amazing how so few words can set a scene so perfectly. I close my eyes and all I can see is the colorless islet." "I felt that I was a vitamin. It was spooky. I hope to read more by Anon. Perhaps next time, something longer." - Zob Gloop "I've always wanted to write a haiku about a vitamin. I can't belive Anon has beaten me to it." - Betty Borison
  12. It better be. If it releases in December which it should that means they have had a whole year to make it stable, so I won’t be allowing any excuses after they had a year. I don’t care if they said ea is 2 years. After a year it needs to be stable at the very least. I will either praise it or damn it very strongly in either direction.
  13. Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! I come to bury Ceasar, not to praise him. Something something something, high school english classes sucked. I had to memorize this entire speech in 11th grade for nothing. Also I would really really agree that they should have all communication start here on their official site, and then if they want to expand to social meda that's fine. I'm in agreement there.
  14. Thanks for your Praise, Kummba! Let's see if I can answer any of your questions: Very true! I plan on doing a more in-depth analysis of the wind mechanic, similar in structure to this post, in the future. I will be sure to go into more depth with this discussion on that post. For simplicity, I ignored the wind mechanic for this discussion, and I will include a link to the other post for people that want to know more, once I make it. The numbers I gave in the post are 6.5 minutes (at 20 ATLAS knots) per grid, and 0.077 lat/long per in-game minute. I got both of these numbers from the same test: I spawned a brig using ssf brigantine and then set it going at full speed in any direction. In my case, it was in the heading of 0, according to the sextant buff. Once the ship reached a constant speed, I took a screenshot and recorded the lat, long, in-game time, current sextant buff heading (which stayed constant), and speed reading (stayed at 22.57 +/- 0.01 knots). After about a half in-game-day of travel, recording this data every in-game hour, I stopped the test, and computed the total distance traveled using the usual distance formula, in units of lat/long units (I got 33.23455 lat/long traveled). Dividing this distance by the total time spent traveling (I got 431 in-game minutes), I got the speed of 33.23455/431 = 0.0771 lat/long per in-game minute. Converting this to real-life minutes per grid just take the conversion factor of 2.1 real-life seconds per in-game minute (which gives you the time of 50.4 minutes per in-game day, as you mentioned). Then we just do one line of algebra: 2.1 real-life seconds per in-game minute / 0.0771 lat/long per in-game minute * 13.333333 lat/long per grid / 60 seconds per minute = 6.05 minutes per grid (at 20 ATLAS knots) This is all fact - I did a simple experiment and then computed the rest of the numbers directly. There is no guesswork or approximations, unless the numbers we are given for time, lat, or long are somehow flawed. I will rewrite this section adding this explanation to the post itself, for others that are interested in how I did the math/tests. Thanks for your feedback!
  15. You praise GNIHAR about staying on topic and then spend pretty much the rest of the post offtopic in some fantasy world where you are in a mega company and you can wipe everyone with a snap of your fingers. For some reason you think a cannon bear can just park infront of a base and shoot at it without a care in the world. Against a serious defender you have to grind away at the defenders for hours just to get the bear into position and when it finally gets there you need to secure the area around it so the defenders can't just kill the gunner. Its so much more complicated then the picture you are painting... I don't think you are in a mega company... And if you are you haven't participated in any serious raids.
  16. Pirates......we take things, its kinda our defining characteristic. If you cant steal a boat, you are certainly never going to be a very successful pirate. Don't get me wrong, it may be a bad mechanic, at least for solos and duos as there will always be a 6 hour window to lose your boat in. It is however not an exploit, but a real mechanic that does work as intended. For this we should give praise. I think its great fun for me and my 1st mate to throw down some claim flags and see what we got when I wake up the next morning. Its like a form of Pirate farming I suppose. I average probably 50% success and 99% of those are ramshackle sloops left on lawless. Its also a great way to get someones attention and force them out to defend or otherwise engage in negotiations, hostile or not. -CS
  17. you are clearly in the minority of the players that actually like the changes, most people that have played this game, have quit due to various reasons, but there are people that time to time check in on the game and see what direction it is taking to see if the game is worth coming back to. All this nonsense that you are excited about and want to happen, will not bring them back, in fact, it has the opposite effect, it keeps them away, and they also tell their friends the game is not worth trying. Balance issues are the problem. You can talk all day about how cool flying ships are, or how great torpedoes will be. However, most players will look at them as easily exploited nonsense that should not be in the game due to balance reasons. Almost everyone that played this game at some point played ARK, they saw how the Quetz as an example ruined the game experience for most people with the platform saddles and carry weight that they had. It completely imbalanced the game for a very long time allowing people to farm absurd amounts of materials, very quickly and the people that were new to the game coming in, had no hope of catching up at that point. That isnt even considering the offensive capabilities that it introduced with the "invulnerable box" and putting weapons on them. When the TEK tier came out, it got even worse with all the stuff that you could do when that came out. Things that seem like cool ideas, can seriously impact the game balance and turn it on its head. Leaving people that liked the game balance as it was, having to adapt to the new aspects of the game that they may not like at all in the first place, most of them quit because they do not like the changes, leaving niche players like yourself to lavish praise on the developers for catering to players like you, while alienating everyone else that played it. Leaving you with an empty game that you can be the kings of.
  18. He has read and there are as many detractors as supporters for the current system on these forums. And as human nature dictates you are more likely to speak out to complain than to praise, that tends to lead one to believe more people like this system than not.
  19. Rules are rules. If players are wiped because circumventing them, no one would raise a PR campaign to save them. In fact, I would praise th edevs for curbing the zerg so small tribes can breathe. This is not a “H.O.D. Vs Wildcard” situation.
  20. I like those builds, you spent loads of hours on private server i would assume? Nothing wrong with that, praise the ones that saved ARK... ya modders.
  21. Danny, the only way the developers have any idea about anything is from the player base, people comment their issues, ideas, likes and dislikes in the forums, Discord and Twitter and other people either agree or disagree and then normally give their input in return. I’m no different than anyone else here and if I choose to say something that I disagree with then I have that right. I play everyday unlike you so who has more right to post in the forums, someone who plays everyday or someone who used to play or someone who doesn’t play at all ? I believe we all have a equal right to post, complain, praise or give feedback, what makes you so special that you think you can suggest that someone quit playing or quit complaining?
  22. Plenty of people agree with me lol. You and GP can try your hardest but guess what? People agree regardless of what I do on Twitter. Know why? I have the same problems with the game that they do. just in case you haven’t wondered why I keep going regardless of the crap people talk about me, is because when I leave my house in the morning I might save someone’s life which has happened multiple times. The crap I get on these forums pales in comparison to the amount of praise I get on a daily basis. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have people try to pay for your dinner when you are just trying to sit down and eat? It sucks. When I am on a strike team in some other part of the state and have no clue who these people are and we are getting a standing ovation. Even if you were standing right next to me and tried to tell someone the shit I talked on here they couldn’t give a shit less. Even worse if we were in a bar, you would probably get your ass kicked. i won’t bother calling you a kid like you did with me because it doesn’t matter, but it is time for you to sit down. It’s called K/D spread and yeah that matters
  23. After reading through the updated notes I want to first say to @Jatheish @Dollie , and everyone else working on this, thank you for listening and trying to fix the issues we are talking about. That being said some of these are better than others, and some are just a swing and a miss in my view. I'm going to break this down into multiple posts on multiple topics cause I see a lot of potential problems. ALSO this is longer, but I feel it's really important. CLAIMS-General The boat decay system will be enabled. This means that there will be a tagging system attached to boats which will cause them to self destruct after multiple weeks of inactivity on PvE, Golden Age Ruin, and Freeport servers. To tag a boat, the owner of that boat (single player or company) will just need to enter its stasis/render distance. This is great idea as a start, but misses the mark. I appreciate that some areas will clear out tons of ramshacled sloops, but it doesn't stop the greifing locally. PVP can demolish any boat that is parked in their bay , but PVE is left defensless and your team hasn't made a workable fix cause it's just sandbox to you guys and all we care about and need access to is building. One aspect of the design we intend to stick to is the fact we want players to always have an option to build, otherwise, the game cannot be truly experienced in its current state. FYI guys: I do love building, but it's not the only reason I started playing. I was really looking forward to the co-op and you keep taking more and more away from PVE This is what will still happen as players use boats to continue to grief each other. I will make boats, anchor these boats with beds for fast travel and blocking off your harbor or coast, then once every 10 days fast travel over and render them in. Give me your island and I'll unblock the harbor. Some islands are harder but the point is someone will do this. So good idea, but it doesn't fix the problem, it just creates a new way to have the same effect. Claim owners will be able to demolish structures (via the pinwheel) on their settlements temporarily as long as the structure has been placed within the last 12 hours. After the 12 hour period has passed, they will not be able to demolish the structures using the pinwheel, and must manually destroy it. Claim owners can do this outside of raid hours or warlike. This exists as an anti-griefing mechanism. On PvE servers, we may extend the time beyond 12 hours as players will not have the option to destroy via PVP. This just says to me that all you guys want is a system where you can say we gave you guys an out but you didn't use it. Should have logged in after someone pillar spamed your island . It's your problem if you didn't catch it cause we (Grapeshot) gave you a fix. So this by my reading will actually reward spamming as someone can place foundations or pillars down, and if I'm not on for a day or two due to RL something, I'm stuck with them and can't get rid of them at all....... and hope you don't miss any they hid in bushes etc. Everyone get used to surprise "To close to enemy structure" messages. There will be a notice sent to the Settlement Owner’s Company and also via a cross-server notification pop-up when new players/companies are building on their territory. Players will have the option to subscribe to this Company Log via email or Discord, similarly to other Company Log messages. THIS IS AWESOME!! GREAT IDEA AND IMPLEMENTATION. I really hope it works well but everything can't ride on me getting a message due to phone signal, etc. Again it is a cop out on an actual fix by saying you have given us a warning system. CLAIMS - PVE Summary of Grapeshot's oppening paragraph, "We hear you, we get that you're worried, we want to make sure it's all going to be okay. We're working on fixes for your concerns, till then, PVE will have the same system as PVP (whole island claim), but no raid hours, hard caps on claims, implimenting player shops, tax bank is there for people renting to help with cost. Wait....why and I still renting in the new system? This means that players will be able to claim islands, and anyone can build on those settlements If ANYONE can build on your settlement. 1) How do you stop them from blocking resources, walling off sections, etc (read back above in CLAIMS -general). 2) Why do I have to run ALL over the island to delete stuff cause someone had a bad day at work and wanted to be an ass and feel powerful for 10 minutes leaving me with hours of BS? Pass 3) Weren't we the player base asking for a system that allowed EVERYONE to claim a section of land? Idea being you would start at the freeport, work your way up to lawless, then go stake out a claim somewhere? We DID NOT want renting and we DID NOT want every island to be lawless. -ROUGH MATH FOLLOWS- 15x15 grid so 225 servers, but we loose almost 80 to power stones, lawless, and freeports. So that leaves 145 Servers now each with an additional island. For eash math we will say each of them now has 4 islands giving you 580 islands to claim and sure some companies will claim 2-3, but even if we took out 1/2 to these companies claiming multiple islands there's still 290 left so we're good right? NOPE, that alone is 435 small companies which is nearly the full amount of available. So then it becomes rent, lawless, or quit. No one wants to rent, so So then lawless becomes a big pillar spawn issue again cause at least we have our space (hopefully your comment on fixes for that down the road are true, but for now it's what we know will happen till then). So all the perks of owning the island and renting to others is potentially lost cause WE DO NOT WANT TO RENT!!! Maybe if we could have PVE alliances and have the alliances build trade network bases spread out on different islands or shared alliance taming bases...... oh wait... CLAIMS - PVP Give claim owners the option to enable allied companies to build cannons on their lands Give company owners the option to allow allies to use their cannon (governance setting) Enable an activation timer on cannon structures placed by non-allied companies during wartime and raidable hours to prevent instant FoBs. Similarly to battery-powered heavy turret activation timer on ARK. Delay on joining a new company or alliance after leaving one (24 hours) Company owners and admins can now set other companies as neutral. This is done via the in-game pinwheel, similarly to alliances when targeting another company’s structure or player. Companies which are marked as neutral will have a different colour display HUD, as a way for players to indicate they are non-hostile, however, they will not have other benefits which the alliance system would provide. In summary, there will now be three states in which other companies can appear: ally/neutral/enemy. Looks like you listened and achieved pretty well a lot the major concerns in PVP. Well done there. The big issue left is alliance limitations, but what I don't understand here is you say that you quote understand that there are some concerns regarding how that (that being alliances) could potentially be exploited in a PvE environment, and we’ll be working on designs and systems to ensure that isn’t the case from a technical point of view, as well as through GM involvement. How are you not worried about people working around alliance caps in PVP? If any place I can see greater exploiting of alliances and groups would be in large scale attacks of other players in PVP. The alliance limits are flawed, and people are already figuring out multiple ways to work around it. Discord anyone? SUGGESTION You created a whole new system to replace something that was already in place and could still be tweaked. A large portion of the players have said (Not claiming these as my ideas.) 1) Get rid of sea claims. They are horrible and a blight. Good idea but they don't work. I can overlap so much land, and then from there can prevent others from claiming land cause your claim is over a portion.... to many bad tricks. 2) Limit claims per person or per company. As a reference, our company of around 15 has since launch worked from an offshore claim to a corner of an island which is still more space than we need. If this claim change happens and we were to claim the same island, you just gave us around five times the land and took away claims from 6 other good companies that share the space with us. 3) Resource upkeep building should just be a claim upkeep and not worry about your buildings falling appart all the time. There should be a repair building added in for if/you're attacked and you can have crew staffed to it to help repair your base during the seige. There can even be new ship of the damned that will land and offload undead to attack your base. If your base in under attack by players the undead attack the first players they see so it could help repell the attack. 4) Drop the time down on claims. There should be a healthy turn over to an extent. in PVE or PVP this is a colonial, survival, mmo. I know a lot of PVE players don't want to think about loosing everything but that's why solo play is harder. If you are the only one resetting claims by running around a whole island have fun, not what I want to do. If you do, congrats, it's a lot of commitment to have a large base/island. 5) Going back to alliances and how companies tie into them with claim flags etc, set up some factions for the game that we choose to join, and unlike other MMORPG games where you are Alliance or Horde forever, you can switch groups in this cause pirates!!! maybe 3 pirate factions and a colonial military. You can even add quests to infiltrate and steal later in production. 6) Last and probably most important..... Fast travel is bad. Being able to set up beds in claims or islands all over the grid is not good. If an alliance wants to raid a base 5 squares away, someone might see the fleet passing. They can possibly fast travel to other islands in the same square, but at best they know the direction this fleet of ships was going unless they follow. Imagine people in glider suits trying to do recon and pass messages on to other allies. BUT WHERE THIS IS DIFFERENT is I can't teleport 5 squares ahead of that fleet and ambush them. I can build speed ships to try to pass them, skirt around them, etc. But if they sneak through and get to one of our lesser defended islands, 50+ people shouldn't magically appear from 13 squares away. This again allows CLAIM TURNOVER. There are more things but really these are the big ones I've heard a lot of times, that my company and I talk about, and we worry that none of these things will end up in the game and that it won't live up the the praise we've been trying to give it. We're still here and will be post wipe and will try Atlas 2.0, but the biggest thing our group and those around us talk about is how quickly things swing from one extreme to another. Maybe this month is taming. We're going to try raising levels available to tame, well now the higher level animals are killing more players. Maybe that's not a good idea or maybe we can lower the spawn rate. Whole point being we are here to help test the game..... give us direction (kinda like your post asking about tames and what we'd like to see), let us test what you want that day, week, month, and submit feedback. We can help if you let us. Lost Boys edit: changed title to fit better after the post went long
  24. That’s cool and I like your take on it. “If you don’t like it don’t use it”. Definitely good take on it my point was that in order for them to be successful they either have to emphasize tames even more, or completely get rid of them(not the right choice). they did something really good with ark. They are not doing something good with atlas. Even though some will praise it, it really doesn’t matter because it is a flawed design and has already been marked by players, critics and publications. their first decisions were what the problem was. This will never be what it could have been. Blah blah blah(not you) ea for 2 years. Nah sorry the damage is done
  25. You don't wipe MMOs that's the number one rule, so much time has been invested just to be deleted, let's see you praise the wipe when there is 2000 players left.
