Just a headsup - I am by no means a fan of the current state of the game and I have huge complains about some things the devs are currently doing. But to this specific question: I think it would be good if people would actually try PvP themself instead of beliving every single complain. Many complains here comes from people that either do not understand some mechanics correctly (as example the guy who screamed bug because he could not use a fresh placed cannon on land to defend his base - when in fact this has been the case since the start of 1.5 on land on every cannon and is for everyone the case) or they try to play the game in a way it is not ment to be played and then complain about it (example the guy that cried bug with high lvl treasuremap because the mobs "disappear to fast" when in fact he is doing it solo without any tame and simplay fails the dps-test of the high lvl map. And instead of accepting that there is a dps-test for this high quality he demands the game to change but does not want to change his gamestyle). And not just start once and give up. Put effort in playing the game like it is envisioned to be played by the devs - and then complain: 1) claim your own Island (and there are enough Islands unclaimed right now) or 2) settle on an Island with a good landlord. A good landlord will offer low taxes, protection and search for one that has a peace-timer that works with your rythm. There is NO offline-raiding if u actually play like intendet. There are a lot of good landlords if ppl would actually bother to look. low taxes, most of the time there is a protected harbour you can park your ships in and the island is protected. You don't have to bother with politics or defence - just do whatever you want to do. You know why you never read from happy settlers? Because they are bussy playing. I think many ppl diregarded the Island-claim-system without ever really trying it. I remember reading a complain from someone about the system with the reason they had to join the company of the landlord caus the landlord did not want to ally up. How is that the devs fault? Simply do NOT build on an Island with shitty landlord. Go to a diffrent Island. But if we are honest this seems to be main issues of many complains here: people want a specific Island, but do not admit it. And all the complains and suggested changes should grant them this one island. As long the core issue people have is something like this - we will never gonna be at a point people are happy. Because every Island just excist once, no matter what. Another point that would actually help - if devs would stick to their words and actually punish bug abuser & cheaters. With the xp-exploit they have been reacting way to soft and also punished people that was not doing it. Instead of sticking to their words and not only ban the exploiters themself but the entire company. Why did they not do this? People bug abused from lvl 50 to 150 and sitt now on lvl 100 laffing their asses off! This is by no means a competitive enviroment. This bad reaction of the devs have led to many people simply leaving the game. And others publicly saying here on the forum from now on they will bug abuse as well since there are clearly no consequences. The devs have created a huge messe here and it makes me wonder if they plan to use this mess to justify another wipe.

Basically you are asking for the game to have a player ID added to it and a vector attached to every item that would say created by and placed by. This is fairly simple to implement it would just require some more bandwidth and a little bit more resources. Something like this would also prevent duping if they were to start giving items ID's also. They could also add a personal kill log which would have made the exp exploit black and white for who was doing it. ~Lotus

I built an amazing alter to my chicken overlords. I was so excited to be the first sacrifice to them. On Thursday my tribe mate guillotined me so my blood would bring them health. Thanks to that sacrifice I found fair wind and safe sails all day. Then a tribemate and I hung ourselves the next day to them out of gratitude for a Bear Mutation. I have now been cursed for 5 days. Anyone have any idea on when the Chicken Overlords will release me from my curse? If this is the sacrifice I must pay than I will. I hope them long life and joy in my suffering. All hail the Chicken Overlords and their wisdom -Wheen

2x I was kicked off the ship now in that fucking bossfight because she thought it was great that all ships were kicked around dumbly during the phase change. Such crappy mechanics are annoying enough, but not being able to spawn on his ship for 40 minutes and not getting anything in the end, even though the group has made it, is just the biggest crap you can imagine. Unfortunately, you did not learn anything from Ark and deliver the same shit here as there. The hardware goes to its knees, the mechanics and content walls are sneaky and the bottom line is that everything is designed for these stupid megatribes. I pay you to keep me entertained, not for you to annoy me! 5 hours for nothing ...

Would it not be better to have a dynamic peace timer? The islands with small size and small player pool to have more peace. Perhaps like this: - smaller islands get less war time (2 hrs minimum) - from there, each company member adds certain additional minutes of war time per island - from there, each allied company member adds smaller fraction of minutes of war time per island That way, zergs with tons of members, allies and a big island would get a non stop war time, while smaller would be protected.

Get better people in your company and start setting some control. Why you guys never addressed it prior is beyond me.. just hit /invite. Take some responsibility for why the GM even confronted your company to begin with. And yes your right better tools. Official is toxic shit, stupid adolescent groping that a 12 year old does Yes your post brought out comments, what do you expect. You should be held responsible wither the GM is nice or not. Just because 1 company does stuff like that another company should follow? clean it up. Your company has that power to talk to the members about it. This post should be in suggestions not inside general for discussion, seems your looking for side's, not going to happen. 1. You named the Dev 2. You looked for reasons why your post should be here. 3. Your upset not exactly angry, but upset that you where even spoken too. 4. If your a leader, you failed. Take some responsibility if you can. Many reasons why players go to play on un official and this is one of them.

Don't know that particular location, but if it is near where you can get a boat, or even a raft near enough you could try to port it to ship.

Same spot I got mine stuck too, keep doing what your doing with foundations and ceilings you are on the right track, u may need to adjust the angle and put some ramps/ceilings under him to get him out and come down from a few angles around the side off that dip. Think layers and not 1 ramp. It was a conundrum I had to solve but I managed it after maybe 45 mins off trial, error and determination.

Exactly the thread I expected following the New pvp system. I still suggest devs Start thinking about company skills so players have to make decisions instead of devs changing that peace timer until moon crushes onto earth.

Did you even reads the post? It wasn't to bitch about the GM, it was to get a discussion going regarding the GM's having better tools at their fingertips to positively nail down who creates an object, so that the GM's only recourse ISN'T mass punishment but to find the offender.

Your idea that timers should be corralated to island sizes is a very good one. I would agree with that being a good fix. As for the bases i am able to raid. Generally i come up against 2-4 defenders if that. Sometimes i havent even been opposed. Griefing is very easy as i just need to pop a single plank off an anchored ship using a bear cannon or crab. This is usually how a raid starts. The defenders dont usually start doing anything until after i have gotten into their mortar nests and destroyed beds and ladders in the vicinity and destroyed the ammo crate( usually out in the open on a cliff platform) Once mortars are out of the way i work my way around with my guys using bear carts with swivels and cannons. I use swivel bear to find max range of puckles or towers ( which alot of players must have bad settings on as many times the npcs dont even shoot) and then i line of sight them with bear cannons. Crabs make getting over walls and up onto high up bases very easy due to the fact i can just jump up over defenses and let grenades do the rest. When players attempt to fight back they generally try to hide in their base or near it and use carbines. Rarely have i seen anyone use the crab and bear swivel carts only real threat, which is the ballista ( i would reccomend placing some around the inner sides of your walls facing your base or ships to kill crabs that jump over your walls) When players leave their base they generally have 1-2 bear or horse swivel carts max. I usually make sure i put a line of pillars near where i land my raid gear for these carts to get stuck on and then spam them across the island im raiding as i ride around. Many players have alot of free build spots at the entrances to their harbours so occasionally ill pillar the entrace to sink their ships as the try to sail them off to an island at peace in their sector during a raid. When i do this ill occasionally sink 1 or 2 of their ships. The majority of fail raids on my part take place when the company i am raiding have allies in their sector that are willing to attempt to sink my raid boat. Flame swivels generally kill my raid mounts before i even land them in the best case which is smart on the defenders side. I will give credit there. When the defenders turtle up is usually a good opportunity to raid as many other bases on their island as possible. I can have 1-3 guys shoot at their base and make them think they are doing a good job defending while i send a single bear cart around popping bases open. Im telling you this because, yes, this is what i do when raiding, but i have also been on the recieving side of some of these tactics in the past. That is why i started copying them. I want players to be able to defend. I dont like how easy raiding is in general. Stone walls should be hard to destroy. A solo with a well built base should be able to rely on his walls, puckles and pvp ability to defend. He should be able to leave his base while some dick head with a single bear cart is shooting at his base, put up a fight somewhere else on the island for 5 minutes and not come back to a totally destroyed and popcorned base. A single plank on a green anchored ship being popped off shouldnt mean that entire blueprinted galleon should sink in 5 minutes. I dont like doing it, but it is the current way you need to raid to min max your win. I never claim islands either. Trying to find a naked or two running around and hiding even after their base is gone is just stupid. Just raid their shit, sink their boats kill neutral tames and leave. Im not trying to stone age people. Just put them back in their adva ncement so they need to waste time rebuilding everything. This is unfortunatley the meta, i dont like it so im now speaking up against it. I genrally only raid groups that grief or raid me or my allies. I am completely neutral to other companies otherwise.

So we had this, seems it's a battle eye issue. We fixed it for ourselves last night by 1. Log into any grid on your server it will send you to your body evenn though it says join new server. You can keep doing this your character isn't actually gone. 2. Die, when you die this will crash your game (fatal exception) and you'll have to relogg be patient and rewpawn anywhere EXCEPT where the issue began, we spawn at our bed in C8, but the problem was Happening in N7. It also might say somebody is already logged in on your account but just keep trying. There is also a chance it will give you a rewpawn option, I chose to change home servers so that I could respawn and not be stuck at the screen. 3. Fast travel via the bed to where you're having the issue, if you use the bed in the area before doing that it seems to redo the entire problem. My wife and I on the same network only had success this way, I kept spawning on N7 but getting kicked by battle eye, while she did that she spawned only the one time and Fixed it. We tried reinstalling battle eye as well to no success, I was about to make some changes to our router or refresh renew our ip, and check that it didn't have a firmware update as well, but the previous seemed to work.

What kind of bases are you raiding???? And why are there no defenders that kick your ass??? I wanna see you take the Island from real established companies in 4 hours. Don't forget you need 1 hour to declaim and 1 hour to claim. And this within the war-window. Some days ago one of our allies was the entire 9 hours under attack from a mega-corp with 3times the numbers and a full functioning supply-line. They did not loose their Island and did not take fatal dmg. I stick to the suggestion that timers should be connected to the Island-size. There are as example some 20-points Island that are nothing more than some small rocks. You can't build any defense there at all. No need for 9 hours war-time. And then there are this huge monster Island - with so much ground to cover and so good defensive building-options -> nobody will ever take those within 9 hours.

Every MMO has a limit for groupsizes for the diffrent activitys. That dungeons has a 6 player grouplimit, this Raid 12 player, even the battlegrounds have a playerlimit and so on. EVERYTHING in any MMO has defined groupsizes. You are actually saying with this sentence that this very core function of MMOs is not MMO? And if we continue with this analogy - the people that keep pushing of increasing company size = asking to bring 3times the people that are allowed for a 24-man-Raid. This is freaking easy mode. There is nothing wrong with the people pointing out that the devs should stick to their word an actually enforce the groupsizes they promissed with the launch of colonie-system.

Im gonna have to agree with OP on this. Combat timer is pretty excessive imo. The war tokens dont really have much value unless you are hitting companies with multiple islands. I want a 4 hour combat phase with war tokens costing half what they currently do. 4 hours is still a long time to wreck a whole island with how broken defense versus raiding is. I can outrange and destroy npcs on puckles easilly with bear cannons and quite frankly stone building parts are piss weak. 90 cannon balls to get through tripple stacked stone walls on a base. And only 270 cannon balls to get through effectivley 9 layers of stone wall. All of this and the fact that i outrange puckles with the cannon bear so i go completely unmolested against base defenses. Even mortars are easy to get rid of. I simply climb up to their mortar nests and throw a couple of grenades to get rid of them. With the current raiding mechanics i am able to raid an entire island of bases and popcorn everything the defenders own before the combat phase is finished. All of this with a bear wagon, some climbing picks and a pocket full of grenades. Its been too easy to raid. Its getting boring tbh

I was thinking something like this the other day... They are thinking too small with the game , and limiting themselves in many way because it is still Ark. Ark is only the base...they can grow and expand so much upon that base , but they seem to just fall back on tames and creatures in a game that i feel should be focusing so much more on pirate elements and ships. I don't think they can ever really grow until they drop the concept that its Ark 2.0 and accept it as a new game in its own right

Well I'm glad you think they should design the game for your personal needs and amusement. Alot of us that are on PVE don't really feel like we should have to live in a bubble to play the game we would like to play. Part of the enjoyment is knowing there is a great big ocean out there full of islands to explore and resources to get. But I do appreciate the fact that as a PVPer you deem us worthy enough to provide your infrastructure and trading opportunities as long as we know our place. How liberal of you

Dude, I totally feel for you. There have been wayyyyy too many idiots on this forum that say to get into a mega. please never listen to those worthless people ever again. It is very detrimental to your gameplay. This should be a message to everyone. Never get into a mega. No matter what they will always exploit anything they can to get the edge. Sure it is stupid and pathetic but that is just what they do. do everything you can to stay in a small company. Pretty soon the devs will realize how bad they screwed up and lower the company caps again. in my opinion even 10 is too big. Feel free to argue all you want with the current max at 5.6k (yes it is after 2pm pacific so that is the high point of today) you messed up wildcard. You had 2 options. 1 go with ark(better option) and 2. Try to do something you don’t have the capability of doing but do it anyways. Congrats on trying number 2, you failed lol Make it ark or die

You are missing my point. I don't want to be forced to do all of that boring crap my entire night, just to pay for some NPCs to man some puckle guns to defend my ships and my base. That is a real waste of time and effort. I just want to explore, tame pets, wreck dive, and build things.

I'll have to agree that the wildlife nerf has completely ruined the survival aspects of the early game. It used to be challenging, now its just a joke and you run the risk of dying from the food/water game or the temperature than from any creatures on the island. It is pretty much boring now.
  33. 1 point
I get the npcs have to cost gold and food. But why add tedium? Why make a part of your game suck? Take out the fukin running all over the map bullshit wtf.. do you think people enjoy lugging food and splitting it apart for hours everyday? wtf makes you think someone wakes up and thinks...hmmmm...I wanna boot up a babysitting simulator today, Devs… make a harbor wide food storage bin ..and in island wide gold bin. Save us from this boring shit so we can play the fukin game plz. I understand the zergs have Grandmas in them who enjoy babysitting and shit.... Most us just want to play the fukin game and have some npc's not starve to death and help keep our shit from being eaten by crabs and stuff. Thx.

That's very disappointing, I imagined large battles at sea , a fortified seaport defending against ship barrages etc... Unappealing dose of reality it seems... So why would you play PvP if it's just that bad?

I rather have factions in PvE like Damned invading islands and then an empire faction we are sided with to go fight them off and that would be dailies and the damned would rotate and so you could have hot spots like the invasions in WoW. ~Lotus

Umm, exercise a little common sense. Pve players will stay in the pve area. PvP players will overwhelmingly stay in the pvp area in order to pvp. Thus while you SAY pve players will have more players to play with, the obvious and predictable outcome would be each group mostly sticking to their designated areas, resulting in a massive loss of effective game space for pve players in exchange for no meaningful benefit they want. Try again, your suggestion has zero merit for pve.
  38. 1 point
They quit because the game's PvP format is just bad. We have plenty of people to play with on PvE so nothing to gain. People are quitting because of low Pop on PvE? Where are you getting your information from? We have people on break cause there's no content cause the dev's spend too much time dealing with all the cheaters and exploiters on PvP. ~Lotus
  39. 1 point
So your suggestion is that for sake of increasing overall player count on a grid, you want to force pve players into a choice between participating in a play style they have declined prior OR stay within a small portion of the entire map? And pay folks to obtain things for them outside of this zone? I have one question about your proposal: Whats in this for pve players? Because as you’ve described it, it looks like the answer is nothing.
  40. 1 point
Force PVE Players into PVP will only make them quit. If i want to PVP i will join PVP-Server instead of PVE.

*spits* We don’t take kindly to strangers in these parts showing up and trying to outcrazy The Boomer in The Boomer’s own backyard. You wanna sacrifice yourself to your so called chicken overlords, that’s fine suit yourself, but you’re gonna need the proper permits. Let’s see, first you’ll need a permit to operate the guillotine. Someone could get an infection if the blade isn’t properly sterilized before use. In order to obtain said permit you’ll need to demonstrate that at least one officer of your company has completed the proper licensing course to ensure safe operation of a deadly device and submit said license in conjunction with your permit application. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery of said license upon completion of the mandatory 3 month operational and cleaning course. Currently there is an additional 6 month backlog on permit issuance owing to staffing cuts so expect to get your permit about the same time Realist gets his Xbox release. Operation of a guilloitine without the proper permit or by anyone other than a properly licensed executioner is punishable by a fine of 42k doubloons. Repeat offenses like the ones described in your post may be punished by sacrificing the offender to the official mascot of Boomer Inc.: The Chupucabra.

Once again, I said that PvE needed to have the Claim flags brought back, but modified. Give each company one, maybe two of these flags to put down, to create a circle that you must build in. Nothing can be permanently placed outside of that claim. They could give one for a base, and one for a port. Make them the size of the sea claims, or maybe slightly larger. That way, you can choose a plot of land, but not spam the island with structures. They could then give you smaller claim flags, for placing down a temporary structure. This would allow you to make temporary structures, but they could give it a 24 hour timer, at which point, the structure becomes demolishable. A cool down timer could be put in, to keep you from putting down more structures right away. Or, they could allow you to put down structures, outside of your claim circle, but they are immediately demolishable. This way, if somebody spams like this, other people can just demolish the structures.

If you want to change this to something it was not designed to be then have at it. Your vision does not align with mine and I do not see it succeeding. It would only survive and exist. Any game meant to have tens of thousands of players in the same PvP world will be populated with companies and alliances that are larger then you like whether you like it or not. This is in inevitability shown true time and time again. You can artificially cap these things and all it will do is drive away those who wish for larger wars, stakes, politics and mayhem. In the end this game will not be for everyone and it looks like a lot of people came here wanting to make it how they want it to be and not what it was marketed as.
  44. 1 point
Honestly, I would like them to lower the combat phase down to 8 hours, but that's only because then it gives a time schedule that will fit more into people's lives. Other than that, it shouldn't be made any shorter. Larger companies are having a terrible time taking islands from other companies because it's so difficult to do so with the current mechanics, EVEN with a 9 hour raid window if you don't take the flag they will build defences back up by the next day. Additionally, if a flag under capture is being contested it will reset to 1 hour which means you just need to have an ally stand in the circle once an hour to properly defend the island until it goes peacetime. As for small companies it's simple. If you don't want to defend for 9 hours a day or do not have the resources/people/commitment required, then maybe you should consider living on someone else's island and negotiate a fair tax rate with them? There are plenty of larger tribes willing to allow people on their island for that reason now that they benefit from having people with them. You can't decide that you want your very own island without the commitment it takes to own and defend that island. There are plenty of islands that are left vacant as well so don't complain that you can't find anywhere to go because there's plenty of space available to build on. To the OP. Take what I said above about small companies and do that. You mention that your ships are sunk and your base has been raided while you are offline and that it has happened multiple times. What that tells me is you were afk raided multiple times and so you got to keep your island. If you can't install proper boat defenses then you should go live on someone's island with a harbour because there are plenty of people who have spent countless hours farming so that they can keep boats safe. It's a service so don't expect it for free but it might be better than having to keep building everything once more.

I will talk about what I witnessed so far. Our starting group of 9 were treated by a mega, we made an alliance with local small tribes an decided to fight and resist, we made several attempts with what we could sail. (we didn't succeed fighting in the sea against freaking 10 ships average), we were always outnumbered 1v2 in the best case scenario, 1v4 worst case. We always went to help the allies that lived 1 grid close, even landed with tames and helped to supply them with weapons and helping them, but that only prolonged the inevitable loss of the island, until all their games were killed and NPCs destroyed. Our player base in our tribe reached 3 ppl online at the same time and 6 actives. We were forced to merge with other tribe of 6 because we were being attacked in other islands by nakeds with grenades or gliders thwrowing grenades, constantly being harrassed. The amount of times it drain to a group of ppl to be always protecting your stuff or kamikazes is huge. While they send 2 or 3 ppl to do that the other members of the megas prepare for the invasion. Eventually 5 islands of the grid above us were taken. because we couldn't do much against groups of 40 ppl attacking with crabs and flame bears, we managed to kill countless crabs and bears but eventually you lose, because you can't resupply at the same speed they do. You kill 1 crab and they bring 2 more to replace it. The status at the moment is 1 grid above us of small tribes allied are completely wiped, we could merge the remaining members but only few ppl, the others left the game. Now they come for us, they started sending scouts. we made a fortification of giant walls, puckets and ballistas aiming tames, a lot of morters also for boats. Let's see how long can we hold against the mega.

I really agree to remove the minigames to reload firearms and increase damage, to me for now the firearms are almost useless, I heavily prefer my legendary bow, if you try to fight with alpha tiger with a rifle you're screwed. minigame + slow reload + lag is a big combo.... Unless you have some high level armor of course. Make the high-level blueprint of the tools bit more easier to find I agree. But nerf the Tamed Animals do not agree, before they complained that their animals had no chance against the wild Alpha and devs nerf Wild Alpha and now that the game is a little more balanced they want to nerf the Tames. Do you spend hours looking for your favorite animal foods/seeds and a few more hours looking for that Animal Lv.30 that you both wanted animals to leave at home as a trophy? the devs made very cool changes in the latest upgrades like rebalancing the Golden Age that no one could get there because of the insane amount of high lv creatures. and mythical. They increase the pay interval to the crew which was great. I just did not like the large cannon changes that are now almost inutile, just limiting the amount depending on the type of ship however... (PVE, but in PVP have other issues). From what I see they are only worried about Realism (ATLAS NOT A SIMULATOR and only convince me otherwise if anyone here already tame a wild bear or lion once in a lifetime).....
  47. 1 point
I disagree that animals harvest too much. I do agree they are too heavily used in combat and carbines should do much more damage to them.

It's a pirate FANTASY game. Stop trying to assume its a RL simulator or whatever. I never heard anyone complain about ridiculous abilities of animals in Ark like this. If we try to compare anything in this game to the way it might be in the real world..... EVERYTHING would have to be changed.

Yeah, but at the same time, they aren't that hard to kill, they take damage like wood storage boxes or thatch foundations. The health is a bit confusing, but I can say from experience that two players can chop one down in about 45 min with metal tools. Cannons can destroy them in about 150 regular balls or 100 larges, effort to craft the cannon balls vs the shipyard is pretty close really. Would be a nice change to make their health "wood" that way they'd have about 30k health and be just as strong
