You are attacking the fact that I am in a larger tribe but have not been able to change the fact that the sub is just a better version of the dive suit. You talk about end game content like you have done it but we decided to go kraken 2.0 first week which meant we had to divide who does what. We had a guy build a brig then sail around for the first 2 days collecting all the powerstones sometimes we helped sometimes he soloed them. The 9 essence are not locked behind kraken and were acquired with a dive suit on a schooner. The kraken 1.0 is soloable. I will break this down simpler because I put it every post and it seems to go over your head. 1 (skilled) person on 1 (BP) boat can kill kraken 1.0 and unlock the sub. A group of FIVE can easily take down 1.0. So how small of a group do you want to be able to do kraken? The group finder is the forums and word of mouth. When people found out we were doing the kraken last week over 100 people messaged me another 50 messages my officers. Of those people a group of 3ish saw that we raided at NA times and I let them know we were going to set up a EU time. This group took the initiative and set up a run which had 115 people show up today to kill 1.0. So there's groups, they look for people, the problem is people don't know how to utilize the forums or even the in game chat to find people running the kraken. There's actually a lot of interest in it and 100 people is super overkill for the fight. I will say it again 5 people easily can do it. The fight itself is soloable. As for the content being designed for megas it's actually not. The content is too easy which is why a lot of the game's good players quit. I am going to be 100% honest with you on this and I don't want you to take it the wrong way. Unofficial has servers that give you 10x and have everything unlocked which might be more the speed you are looking for. MMO generally means you have to play with multiple people the content is designed to for a lot of people. The PvE content is going to be geared for 40-80 people to engage in massive battles based on what the developers talked about before it's release of EA. As it stands right now it's nowhere near that hard. ~Lotus

I agree, somewhat. There's always going to be a couple people who can do everything, but the majority won't. If they would increase the skill trees and do some hard mode quests for them, even OP people wouldn't have all the skills, and many of them might not want to do all the quests. Hard mode for crafting skills can involve more time than some of the fighter types want to put in. Some people won't want to wait for a mat spawn that only happens once every 2 weeks and takes a good bit of sailing to go get, or play RNG bingo with BPs or breeding animals. I don't like to learn min/max fighting tactics and go through the whole getting a big group together thing, but I'm perfectly happy to do a quest that I know is going to take me 2 or 3 months to complete that progresses slowly. Hell, I'm trying to build some things now, that I really want to look good, and have demolished everything and started again about 15 times so far. Some people just make a stone box and go on about their business killing things and making gold. I think the complaints about the sub are coming more from the lack of anything hard and rewarding to do for crafters, tamers, builders, explorers, and traders, more than the idea that everybody just wants everything easy enough for them to do. So far, the devs don't show any signs of rewarding anybody else, so it gets discouraging.

I believe that breeding imprint should have 1-2 charges that are tribal so you can do stuff without commiting X days to breeding for a perfect imprint. Also the meat needs to have something done to it because breeding a carnivore batch is awful in terms of trough maintenance. I would love to see the game have more branches of content and quests for the different trees. As far as the trees go for points we recently had a discussion about this in tribe. My max level is 116 right now. Jat even said I'm OP! SENPAI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED ME!!! jk anyway with that I would have just about every tree unlocked but I don't expect many to reach that (this includes myself). When we were a tribe of about 10-15 I would have people call out what tree they were going to max and they would be our cannon guy or our shipwright. This was also before they changed all the max level stuff and increased your total points. Being locked out of trees was frustrating but having more people helped. So by joining up with more people it made the game substantially easier in terms of getting stuff done. IMO the game needs to be made more difficult because it's just too easy. ~Lotus

The low number of players isn't really the result of a claim system in the game. The claim system right now is working perfectly fine. Those that complain about the claim system are those that haven't given the new claim system a try. They've already labeled it as bad without testing the waters. The reason numbers are low and haven't increased as much as hoped since 1.5 is because of several things: The Devs history with ARK - this will be a big contributing factor as to why Atlas hasn't done as well as ARK The initial EA release with poor server performance - January clearly shows how many people were simply put off because of the poor first few days and therefore haven't given the game a real chance And to some degree the poor reviews on Steam - this may only be a small contributory factor, but the number of negative reviews in the first few days due to the poor server performance and those reviews remain from those that left in December have hurt the game even up to now, and that's all down to people playing once and leaving a smell on Steam. It's an unfair thing to do, but that's what happened and a lot of people do look at Steam reviews. Decisions by devs - Now this is of course some level of factor to be included. But although not all decisions by the devs have been greeted with happiness from the players, they have stepped back and reverted certain things that players were very unhappy with, i.e. old age debuff, overlapping of claims etc. It already is build anywhere. Yes there is one island owner, and many of the big island are still unclaimed due to cost. But for me it's worked perfectly, i'm on a medium sized island, I've had 2 owners, i've got the space to build, i'm not cramped in like lawless is, my neighbours aren't even in render range from my base unless I run a little distance. There is a lot of space for people to build anywhere, but the reason there is a lot of space is because of those stuck on lawless as they refuse to be a tenant, even though on PvE at least they don't pay tax. However, I must say there since lawless now has 10 day decay timer on structures, there has become little benefit for living on claimed land, but I have space to breathe and build. Not cramped up like lawless just because people refuse to test the waters. As for playershops, i've not experimented with that so don't have much to comment on those. However, you say they should not even be 1 gold a week cost, well sorry but I just laugh at that. You can go out on a sloop for a few minutes, find a floatsam and pickup lets say 8 gold. That would pay for a playershop for 8 weeks if it was 1 gold a week. And you would even refuse to accept that? That to me sounds like the type of player that lives on lawless because they refuse to live on a claimed land even though they don't pay taxes and there's more space to build. There are 3 types of players: Those that currently play Those that quit playing Those that have never played Now all of those are as important as each other. To say the Devs should stop listening to those that play the game is foolish because then that would just mean the devs would be listening to those that have no experience of the game, or those that quit for a multitude of reasons. The devs don't pick and chose who to listen to based on whether they play, quit playing or don't play. I'm really enjoying the game, I think the current claim system is much better than the original claim system. Would no claim system be better? No-one can answer that question without testing it, but to test it would require big changes, more wipes, more disruption which would also affect the performance of the game, so no, no-one can say that a no claim system would improve player numbers. To be honest with you, I don't think anyone, not even the Devs and players know what exactly will increase player count, because no-one can tell whether any change would actually improve player count, and a lot of that is because of the original reasons I stated.... the devs history with ARK turned people off even trying, the initial launch turned people and way and resulted in review bombs. It's nice that you are thinking that numbers can improve a lot more with the right decisions, but you can't lay claim to what the right decisions are, hardly any player or non-player can.

Sorry guys but no, it’s not to early to tell anymore. I went ahead and waited awhile(weeks) till I posted this but no, the direction is not good. any kind of claim system will simply not work. It just isn’t going to happen. Please don’t try to say well the numbers went up because they didn’t lol. Sure they went up from the 3k everage while people were waiting for the wipe but make sure you don’t forget that even at the absolute peak after the wipe, there wasn’t even half of the people that came back. We are talking 10k peak now on the weekend and 7k peak on the weekdays. it is time to bring in the build anywhere style of gameplay. That will always be superior. As far as the playershop goes? There better not even be a 1 gold per week upkeep. Not even that. Absolutely free player shops are the only possibility or that whole concept is done. it is completely cool you guys have a very small niche of players for the game. No problem with that, but you are going from a game that sold millions of copies(before the release, like 10 million) to where only a few thousand people are even willing to play the game. you need to get your ship in order and no, that wasn’t a metaphor. You guys are definitely not doing a good job right now. its getting sad and you really need to stop listening to the people that play the game. There is a reason only a few thousand play it. “Those people” are going to play it regardless. It’s called addiction. They aren’t anywhere even close to the important players. The most important players are the ones that haven’t bought your game yet which I already know that you know that. I mean, who doesn’t want more money right? hopefully you guys straighten up soon, because if not you guys are done.

Jeez, you died dude- get over it. What is this participation trophy crap? Same reason people are on here crying about the sub. Get over your entitlement syndrome, go actually do something and get rewarded for it. You would rather work harder crying on here to get the sub than do it in the game. Its really about time you whiners grew a pair and quit ruining the game trying to change it to compensate for your incompetence.

I will ask this in a series of questions because I don't understand where your information comes from. Where do you get that solo's are the largest amount of players? What glitches/cheese are you talking about? Yes the ingame social tools need work. The majority do not use the forums but they do use discord. Again where are you getting your statistics? Lotus is not the biggest playerbase. Lotus is 1 tribe and a crapload of allies (even the allies I can't ally are allies cause the rules are dumb). When you say megas though I don't like doing it but I guess I fall into that category at this point. A larger tribe in this game is about 20+ total members when I say that I mean 20 TOTAL not online at once. A medium tribe is 10-19, a small tribe is 3-9, then you have duo's and solos. The description does not say it is a solo player game. So by saying I want the game to be easier for solo players you are saying I want this game to be something it is not. How many people do you think you need to do the powerstones and kraken? What content does the sub give access to that you can not get with a divesuit? I believe if you can answer these questions we could have a better understanding of each others point of view. ~Lotus

Devs explained the direction they are aiming for is to make the game more like WoW for grouping and daily quests. As for the MMO aspect it's actually not classified as a single player game so you HAVE to play it with other people is the principle. https://gyazo.com/65000e576747ec544f93b156b08afc41 So it should be tailored that if you don't play with other players you are limited to a small fraction of the game. Unofficial has the changes you want which is for solo players. So why would you not just play on the server that has the changes you want? As for the smaller companies being the majority the Lotus alliance spans about 500 active players. To put that in a simpler number that is 25% of the EU-PvE which is roughly 1/8 the total playerbase. We are 1 tribe there's 5 other tribes I would call megas on EU. So I don't know where you got this solos are the majority thing. I will say it again the current content is not designed for some massive amount of people. It feels like 5 so I don't know how easy the game needs to be to make you happy. ~Lotus

There needs to be a visual indicator in Golden Age Ruins that lets you know that there is rapid decay of ships within the zone, like freeports. Just lost a fully crewed galleon with bred bears, and crafted masterwork and legendary gear in 07 because we left the boat there for a few days, waiting for the weekend to try and find Shieldhorns to tame. Please add a visual notification, because its just stupid.

The mechanics aren't broken you just suck. No soft way to put that. You guys had no tames to stop a single bear? A horse with a flame cart will murder a bear. They cant catch you and cant tank flames forever. Tigers are key IMO because they do bleed damage. Hit them and let the bleed run out. No tame can last through 6 or 7 hits. A shit tiger can be a killing machine because you dont need to level melee for this to work. Shoot the rider. When they are shooting the cannon they aren't moving. Bolas and grapples are cheap. Hit the rider with them and they aren't riders any more. You can throw both while mounted. Build walls and make it difficult for the bear to get In in the first place. A few puckles go a long way. Go to your flag hold e and hit reveal enemies. No more hide and seek. If they insist on running in naked use a horse to donkey kick them and cage them. If you get a hold of a razor tooth they absolutely shut down ground raids with the fear mechanic.

This one is kind of game ending for me tbh, In my opinion this takes all the variety and versatility out of the game, for me this is the reason I play these games because sometimes the person that dares to be different can do good and. I honestly hope this one gets changed back personally.

Imprinting has 2 benefits, one is for anyone, the other is for rider. Imprinting will raise the creature's health, weight, and melee by 0 - 20% depending on the final imprint of 0 - 100%. This affects the animal directly, regardless of rider. Personal benefit for person who imprints: While the imprinted is riding that animal, the animal receives from 0 - 30% increased damage output, and from 0 - 30% reduced damage received. This part will not transfer to another rider.

Weaving and shooting, while realistic, isnt feasible when your a solo ship. A fleet of SoD will easily sink a lone ship when it has to turn left or right to fire its cannons which causes the ships to catch up. And forget if you sink a Brig or a Sloop and trying to get the float Sam from them because the rest are still going to come after you. The risk and reward is just not high enough. I mean if you lose for planks even if you have spare planks you have to leave the wheel and make repairs while the ships of the Damned are still firing on you. Yeah I could spend days sailing around increasing the defense or Damage Done by my ship but it is pointless. Do you stupid ass updates will continue and completely ruin this game. At most they should have set a limit to 4 large cannons fore and aft or made it where the brig rear platform couldn't be made so big to fit 8 large cannons on. Deck cannons and 4 1/2 cannons does not go against the lure of the game because actual pirate ships had cannons on decks and fore and aft. It is how the smaller ships captured bigger ships so they could be faster with just as much Firepower. This was really the final game breaking update for me. I'm kind of thankful for it so I can go back and play breath of the wild again or so much better and less frustrating games.

Ban = you lose access to the game. There's no mechanic preventing foundation spam so you're really banning someone for a core game mechanic. Seems like a dumb reason to take 30$ away from them. Side note, aren't you in another thread saying people should be able to cock block my pier by logging in once every 10 days?

I actually enjoy the new claim system. I think the upkeep costs are a bit much for smaller companies, but we still manage with a decent sized island. On a pvp server, we run our timer so it's during our online time, and when most of our company is there, then it's peace time the rest of the time. It works out well, and we were a bit strategic in our decision of where we would be. We have outposts in our allies islands, and on lawless as well, as do most others, so we can get the stuff we need, have the breeding we want, etc. If anything, this game already outdoes Ark in terms of actual content of things for me to get online and say "hey, what am I gonna do in Atlas today?", I have lots of options, and for an EA game, that is pretty cool. Most EA games have a huge dip after the initial check in, and the server performance did not help, but I will hand it to the crew, they really worked hard and were completely dedicated to getting it fixed ASAP for the players. Sure, some had no patience for it, but I've been in too many EA's and tests to get stressed over a release like that, and in fact, expected it. We're talking 5 months from initial release and they've worked incredibly hard at the game. Have they made decisions I don't like? Oh yeah, like torpedoes, but I'm already planning on working around it, until they fix them. This is EA, and those who aren't here, don't really have a right to toss their two cookies in as far as I'm concerned. Play it, get frustrated, report it, or don't play. It's simple. The company is not going to listen to those who don't speak up, only to those who do, and that means listening to those who actually play the game.

I'm not the person you're addressing here, but it just seems to me that you are in the happy position of being able to get special benefits in the game because the devs so far have catered to your playstyle. I don't know about Udo, but I know that the rest of us would just like equal treatment. That doesn't mean dumbing down large raids, bosses and prizes so that 1 person can do them all, but it may mean starting to provide accomplishment levels for other things that you're not so interested in. If it happens, there will be things in the game that you won't get and you won't accomplish because they are just not your thing. If they extend the crafting and taming trees so everybody can't easily reach max on them, and have crafting/taming "quests" in the same way they have boss mob quests with the prize being a new zone on the map only the winners can enter, containing exclusive bps and animals, then the people who spend their time doing raids and boss mobs probably won't get those. And then people like me would be posting about how they shouldn't be made easy mode so anyone can do them, and the boss mob people will be saying they have no chance at the new map zone because they can't put that many points into crafting. But at least then everybody would have a high level accomplishment they could shoot for.

it shouldn't be tailored so that smaller companies and solos only get to play / experience a smaller percentage of the game than mega company's ,where do u get your thoughts from? the devs are developing a game to make money they won't make as much as they could be having a game where the largest amount of players cannot experience the game to its fullest without cheesing or glitching content. again unofficials are not the game the devs are developing they are there for players that want everything handed to them , no one in this thread has ever said they want everything handed to them so your old very boring argument of go unnoficial is mute in this thread, un officials are akin to cheating in a game , i will say again as u seem to ignoring the main point , solo players and small company unless using external clunky systems are excluded from now and possibly even further down development line game content , the devs need to add more in game social options to give these players the ability to group and do the content without resorting to forums and hoping for replies and discord again not everyone who plays this uses it ,,or the content needs to be tailored to the majority , 500 members does not mean you are the largest players base , it means u have a large company nothing more and very unlikely all 500 are playing at the same time , and if the game is catering just to large companys then enjoy playing it on your own if things dont change , p.s we all know what an mmo is doesnt mean groups it means lots of players playing the game on one or many servers ....so linking the game description means nothing

I personally would love to give "small territories" system a chance. The system that we came up to before wipe. Each island have 10-30 (depends of island size) small territories on shore. And one guy or a small company can claim 1 territory. Bigger company - few territories. Megas - (well... the very-very MEGA) maybe half of island. And central part of island is "lawless" rule with rapid decay. And see - what will happen there.

Sorry Lotus I disagree with you, I do not believe the sub should be locked behind the kraken fight at all. The content should be there for everyone, this is not an MMO it never will be, this is a survival game. not an mmo. this is not runescape or WOW, its leveling model and content locks should not at all be tailored to content like the kraken.

You can do a 26 map solo with an elephant, to let you know. Also, all SAME sector maps are about 50 to 200 gold, adjacent sector whites are 200-400 gold. Greens tend to be 400-800 gold, blues 800-1500 gold, purples 1500-3000 gold. I do not remember getting a yellow map, these are from memory but abouts. I tend to go for only blues and purples since they drop mythics relatively commonly. Save like 8 and do them all in one day off if I want to, takes you all over the place.

You guys are so whiny, unskilled and lazy. As far as SOTD go. You can still put mediums on the back. I can kill any sotd with a level 1 sloop with 1 stock medium on the back. And I don't even need crew. Simply aggro them at full speed , angle to the wind and slow down till you see their health bar pop up then match their speed. Shoot till dead. If you dont like how long 1 cannon takes put 20. My max mythical brig drives straight into them and what's not killed by the gun ports the 10 mediums on the back insta kill including max level galleons. I personally feel they are too easy.
  29. 1 point
I hope this gets more attention and that it’s fixed. Galleons are a big resource and effort to build and outfit. Stupid to lose one over such a design mistake. In addition I believe that the limits on structures and weight should be looked at also.

Lower the combat phase. Month later people will want it smaller and then smaller and then oops we're a PvE server. I suggest we change the combat phase to 23 hours a day. The remaining hour everyone spawns on a power stone island naked and we duke it out with our fists.
  35. 1 point
Do more of what? And why does "doing more" always have to have a cast of thousands? I am able to "do more" because I don't mind putting in the time, I'm stubborn enough to see it to the end, and I don't care if takes me a long time to do it. But then, my "more" isn't about killing the kraken. The game has a huge amount of the skill tree devoted to crafting, but there's no reward for making some kind of extremely difficult masterwork. It also has a lot to do with taming (although some people aren't crazy about that), and where's the big reward for doing some impossible taming feat? What are the in-game rewards for being the best pvp groups on the pvp servers? The game is about exploration, and where are the big exploration rewards? The problem is that the game only rewards big groups of people who want to go kill boss mobs. That's only one of the many activities promised in the game, and yet it's the only one that gets new unlocked features and locations. People in small groups and solos don't expect to be able to run out and kill the kraken on any odd Tues. they choose to do it, but they should expect that there would be some big difficult task they can do and be rewarded for.

Agree to this, especially how in lawless it's possible for someone to block your 'still under construction' galleon in with picket fences, and hold you to ransom until it's paid. Right now you just have to pay up, as you do not get any resources back demolishing things (which would be my preference, to demolish, rebuild somewhere else, than to give in to these bullies and pay up to remove their posts).
  41. 1 point
When demolishing a non-ship/core type structures on a non-fully-anchored boat, resources will not be returned to you. This will be indicated to you via the demolish HUD. The boat must be fully anchored to get resources back for non-ship/core type structures. I have no issue with the above change other than you receive no materials back during ship building because your boat has not been launched and can not be anchored. I get what was trying to be fixed here, but maybe it should only kick in AFTER the boat has been launched and should not apply when still in the shipyard.

What a bunch of idiots. Why does someone play on PvE and grief other players like this?
  45. 1 point
It’s been live for less than 24 hours, but I already have several concerns about the new claim system for PvE. There is a very finite supply of islands that a solo or small company is capable of claiming. After the 15 and 23 point islands are claimed, I think that the next point value is 53. The island points that a company can have seems to be 30 + 1 for every additional member. My wife and I have 32 island points available to use. This means that to claim even the 53 point islands, you need a minimum company size of 23. That’s quite the jump from solo, or a few friends. There is also a possibility of a large company starting off in small pieces to claim several of the smaller islands, only to merge together later. Multiple people can try to claim the same island at the same time. You end up with a confrontation with the claimers basically griefing each other until the other(s) give up. And if you’re the one that ends up losing, congratulations! You’ve lost the claim AND the gold it cost to drop the claim flag, so in the early rush you may not be able to even try again. The tax rates seem to default to 50%. 30% was stupid enough, but now in PvE you give up half of everything you farm, including gold from treasure chests, to the claim owner. Now the settlement owners can just sit there with a 50% tax rate and not have to do anything. The whole setup feels like it’s intended to cater to large companies. I haven’t done a count yet, but I believe that the majority of the islands will only be claimable by very large companies. Unless the small companies are lucky enough to get a claim early, lawless is looking like the only really viable option. Which is probably just as well, since getting gold after the islands are claimed getting gold will be twice as hard, since you’ll only get half as much. I know I’m being a bit pessimistic saying this, but they’ve really made me feel like they don’t care about PvE at all, aside from the cash the PvE players bring in when they first buy it. They remove one of the PvE maps to add a third PvP map, they setup PvE to almost solely benefit large companies, and it really seems that they didn’t think this through at all. The old system definitely had major flaws, but I think it was way better than this new claim system, at least for PvE.

This is a Great game but the foundation spamming needs to be addressed, one clan that has an island with a claim is also going around spamming other islands. This behavior will hurt the game if not stopped. The NWO has added 100's of foundations in the D7 area I am located in they were in some kind of grievance with another group on our island and now looks like they want to make it so you can not build or expand.
