  1. The sad fact of the matter is some people are at best selfish and at worst deliberately enjoy causing drama/grief if the game lets them. You can tell them not to act like that all day long but you're wasting your time. The only ones that can stop them or enable them by doing nothing is the devs. They set the rules and they are responsible for enforcing them.
  2. You said very well, you have no problem with the claimed land in the lawless area, but the way you occupy the area is the foundation spam. If you think that you have no problem, please send a screenshot of your claimed land to the forum to let everyone sort. When I said locally, ‘please don't continue the foundation spam’. You have not explained anything about your behavior. After that, I said in the world,’ I don't care what you used to occupy and the foundation, but please don't put the foundation near my base, or I will block your boat’. Is there any problem with this? BTW, my company was do anything like flag spam in the old system, prove it if you sure so. then please don't talk about the old system, and we are now playing in the new system. I won't speak to you or make any calls, just like I said that the E8 is our sub-base. We won't focus on it here, and we won't waste material on the boring drama. If GM admits your behavior, I will learn from you. I hope that you will have a better play in the construction of the base in the future. FINALLY, LAND CLAIM IS NOT EQUAL TO FOUNDATION SPAM.
  3. I don't think Atlas is large enough to do this. I also just don't like the idea of this type of mechanic in the game. I know its labeled fantasy and has odd creatures and such, but it just stinks of a child puking day dreams out while on acid. No flow. Piracy gets difficult when ships can instantly teleport to other areas of the map thus bypassing dangerous waters. Ships being forced to actually sail places is how piracy happens. I'd love to see Atlas increase in size some day. I like the idea of a huge world that very few people get to see all of. There are companies far away we never heard of. Companies we never see. Drama, politics, etc between hundreds of companies that we might know and some we do not. Let that drama spill out of game into the forums. Let the propaganda fly and the chest pumping commence.
  4. Ohhhh yeah. Ark gives those kind of lessons on a regular basis. I had 3 plus years of ark and man doesn that game give you trust issues my buddy and I got tired of the drama so we just went duo with it. Never had more fun. We are big time grinders though so the two of us is like a 10 person tribe lol
  5. I have questions. 1. Do you always talk with that heavy French accent? 2. Does your company offer member drama and officer power struggles? I don’t want to join one of those boring companies where people get along and act like real human adults who don’t need lots of therapy. Please tell me you’re not one of those. They are incredibly unexciting. 3. Do you guys really have to use Discord? I prefer ventrillo. I would consider joining if everyone switched to ventrillo. 4. How soon can I get highest officer rank and full admin permissions? No reason.
  6. No one is proposing communism, utopian or otherwise. Note that you are the one using that term, and I do not consider it a useful term in describing the problem I’m referring to, which is a common problem not limited to gaming called the free rider problem. As Lotus has already addressed, the issue is one of people who give lip service to being part of a company, guild, etc. when what they are really looking for is a free ride. I have encountered this mentality enough times across enough games to be reasonably certain it would become an issue here. In a nutshell it is the problem of people who want all of the benefits of belonging to a guild and have access to guild resources while still designating things they want to consider personal and private “off limits” to others, even supposed guild mates. I have seen this behavior manifest itself repeatedly in otherwise reasonable players, who even use “guild” mats and resources to make or build ships, gear etc that they then want to consider private and earmarked for their personal use only. This inevitably leads to resentment from guild mates who have both equally selfish and less selfish approaches. As previously stated, I have seen this approach, initiated in good faith by well intentioned leaders including myself, lead time and time again to more headache and drama than otherwise found in a given group.
  7. The inability to unclaim or gift ships seems problematic, but I can tell you with strong certainty what will happen if a "more robust" system of ownership were introduced that allowed members of companies to personally own things and limit even company members access to them. It will lead in short order to a mindset of nearly everything being personally owned and people thinking even within a company of "mine" and "yours". In the long term, this will hinder company development and cohesiveness more than help. Solo players will always want to play solo and can do so, but more private and personalized ownership of property by individuals within guilds tends to create more drama than it mitigates. I say this based on 15 years of MMO play in guilds that had both types of systems in place.
  8. Giving him admin gives him all sorts of power to do dastardly deeds. When faced with a problem child having a tantrum, do not hand them a gun. The crew I have now are all older, mature gamers here for the fun and we have little to no drama, but I had an earlier company at the start that had one of these drama queens in it. You offered to help him continue his journey, he is not taking you up on the offer. Kick him to the curb. If he causes anymore drama that constitutes griefing, screenshot it and fill out a ticket for the developers to look at. Don't come here to name and shame, they don't like that so much. But those that try to ruin gameplay for others are finding out that the developers eventually do get around to smacking their tender, little bottoms when they act out.
  9. People love blaming others for the drama they are embroiled in when all they have to do is look in the mirror.
  10. I didn't care it was a pirate-themed game either. Ark with a twist is fine with me because Ark is fine with me as well. The drama between people saying what Atlas is in their opinion is mildly interesting at best to me. To them, it's all they have to live for apparently.
  11. We stopped asking after a few times. Best experience so far was a guy on an completely unclaimed, big island - we built a trap to tame a bear. He came and yelled something we couldn't understand, rushed over to our desired bear, killed it and told us that this is his island and we kindly have to ask him if we want to do stuff here. Big drama. And - because I don't want to loose the progress of weeks, I don't play PVP. That's it.
  12. Yes - PTR-NA-PVE. 2nd day in a row, 2nd schooner. Not the only one. Nothing in patch notes acknowledging or fixing. Bring popcorn for the upcoming drama.
  13. Welcome to the EU PvE Players, our server was gutted for the PvP PTR some time ago At least you guys get another 2 weeks of beta testing (EU PvE) and prolly avoid some of the drama...
  14. since they seem to play only in pvp they have very obvious problems in understanding what people playing PvE wants, only 2 types of people play this type of game, people who likes drama, fights and conflict and want to stand above others and people who wants stability, long term progression, and enjoy building, trading, exploring, but for some unknown reason they just dont get it, people wanted buildings decay gone, instead they added it to boats too, people wanted trading instead they added a trade NPC at each port completely killing trade, people needed a exploration revamp to make it fun and worthwhile and instead they just added a new area while exploration is still boring as hell, also hidding the submarine behind the kraken fight, to be honest i was so eager for a pirate related game with naval combat that i never would have expected a game exactly like what i was looking for to be so boring and lack of meaning, i feel very sad about what this could have been but we have to be realistic and accept that this developers just lack the insight of what pve gamers expect of this game
  15. If I was an owner I would want to be known as a good one who takes care of the people living on my island. I would inform other companies of this and let it be known my company will not allow attacks to take place on my island without repercussions. Why would anyone want to live on an island where the owner does not lift a finger to help and project his land and the people on it? That makes little sense. Will it happen? Sure it will, but I believe more island owners will want to protect then to allow the mayhem and drama this introduces. The places people will want to live will be owned by people who actually care and protect one another producing a safe and more engaged populace that will go to war together in the name of mutual defense. That and its more fun.
  16. i think most complained about both - offline raids and the rework i think it is dangerous to listen too much to the forums after like most of you ppl stopped after the wipe announcement...most will not really post here and just wait for the wipe. those left were basically mostly vocal but a minority if you ask me... if you look at the numbers of the servers since release it was clear that PvE was played way less than PvP so most were looking for a "eve-like" game with politics and all this. i bet the top 2 reasons for ppl leaving was: being raided offline (no matter if large or small company) and all island cluttered with claims (tho i still think if you were determined you would always find land on pvp). now if you split small and big companies by design a lot of these politics vanish and a lot of the thrill is being lost. i for one tend to play in small companies mostly but i still love the thrill and drama going on with big alliances around me or surely on me raiding my base too ^^ seperating this by design might not be the best decision made - better make 1 system that is rock solid and i mean limiting claims would also have been all that is needed for PvE servers too. on a side note: why not just wipe the servers, put on the patch and let us test this until it's ready, wipe again and go? i mean hardly anyone cares to play anyways since you announced the wipe and the numbers just continous to drop...still sad that you don't explain the char wipe too
  17. I feel that. Me, im gonna make a fighters guild and host fights and tournaments that any company on the atlas can take part in, even betting... im gonna build player and trade hubs and be in the center of all the drama in the atlas. its gonna be hot lmao
  18. Me too. Really don’t want to deal with drama in a video game. The bigger the tribe the more drama. It isn’t really politics. It’s drama
  19. The tribe to my knowledge suffered no consequences. The player I think ended up joining another tribe or quitting. What will a GM do at that point though? Tell the bigger tribe they need to not block people from things then they have to tell everybody that and they can't. There was a post about hackers. They don't fly around invulnerable anymore cause they get banned too quick they have to stay in that area where you don't know for sure. What the tribe did is unethical but it's in an area where a GM can't just say you are breaking the rules cause technically they didn't. It's just a bad situation created by the dynamic of this game which is something I am looking at preventing. The bigger tribes can't get too big for their britches. I am going to lean for this system cause it's fair for all I'm gonna fabricate some tribe examples to show the way I see it. Tribe A will be the greedy large tribe that only has 100 members pads to 200 claims 2x more land then they should have. Tribe B will be the cheap large tribe that has 100 members but takes 1/2 the land they should. Tribe C will do it how it should be 100 members and the correct amount of land. Week 1 Tribe A has all the land woohoo. They look for tenants to help with upkeep spend a large chunk of time farming like hell. Tribe B has their land and they made upkeep for the next 2 weeks. They look for tenants but don't have good land for them. Begins progression PvE. Tribe C has their land farms their upkeep for the week and gets some tenants. Week 2 Tribe A farming upkeep to keep their flag and looks for tenants. Tribe B Works on progression which takes all their farming because they don't have the land to sustain good progression. (At this point they can get more islands but won't have a cluster it will be spread and kinda random) Tribe C will have their upkeep under control and go into progression (Should bring tenants imo ) Week 3 Tribe A looking have some tenants still farming like hell does a little progression then back to farming. Drama over farming all day vs doing content. Tribe B upkeep is good no tenants. They get more land but it is like 4 grids away so it's time consuming to operate out of both bases. Tribe C Upkeep is good the tenants are happy (some even join the tribe they do everything together anyway). Moves to #1 for progression. Week 4 Tribe A more drama and starts to split. Upkeep is bad which makes more stress. Tribe B Can take some of the members from Tribe A but has fallen behind on progression. They would need more land so they spread further. Tribe C Takes some of the members from Tribe A. Can take more land but doesn't need to they are established and completed all the current content. Some players go to PvP which creates a space for the Tribe A refugees. Week 5 Tribe A starts to lose land and more members. Tribe B clears all current content cause they are good but will never be as good as Tribe C Tribe C Doing good and the core remains strong. Preparing for next tier of content. Week 6 WIPE!!! Tribe A Dead Tribe B Merged into Tribe C Tribe C 250 members! Takes 250 members worth of land. You get the vision For instances the point is to just have a spot so people have a "personal base" but it has 0 effect over the actual server in terms of resources or advantages. For building blocks yeah the game needs to get it's basics down. One of the reasons I am also leaning on endgame content is because the game was also losing people from lack of content. ~Lotus

At no time will anyone dictate what someone should be doing. We will have group tasks that will help us with common goals, but no one is required to participate.   21. because faction based pvp prevents you from killing incompetent leaders and retarded players when they piss you off. In group play I dont need protection, I am the protector. Rarely do i meet other players that dont quickly become annoying. Factions limit pvp and self policing of idiots. I love open world pvp, because it eliminates a lot of the issues you deal with from the pve side. someone tries to pillar spam you in pvp? you kill them take the claim and destroy the pillars. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but at least you always have a solution. With factions one side is almost always dominating the other, then that side stops showing up which equals the end of the game. have everyone vs everyone and you always have drama, conflict and an eternal content generator.
  22. Instead of making up new terms, let’s just call this what it is. This feels about like a public beta. They could have avoided all this drama by making it available as a public beta first. A few months down the line they could have gone into early access and charged $25 and probably made just as much initial money and not had the negative ratings which just hurt in the long run. So many games get put out as early access that aren’t there yet and end up dying as a result. There are so many aspects of this game that they got right that get over shadowed by the glaring failures.

  24. I love the changes, but we need a way to claim land on PVE. The current change is just setting us up for trolling and drama.

Excuse me, good things were happening to atlas, I have played this game since launch and they have made leaps and bounds. Aside from stone structure mishap this was the nail in the coffin for the best atlas players I've met. It was simple... fix your bugs, not combust a game by forcing PvP'ers and PvE'ers to collide into one server for maximum drama and toxicity lol
