In what reality do you really think 1400 gold per day in rent makes player shops viable for anyone? I don’t mean everyone. I mean anyone. This seems like more evidence of developers disconnected from their own game. There is no conceivable economic model under which this is viable with a player base even 5 to 10 times what you currently have testing the game for you, and at the current rate at which gold is earnable in game as a practical reality. The most disappointing thing is this should not be required feedback. One gold per minute is so insanely over the top as a maintenance cost that it should have been immediately shot down internally as too high the moment someone suggested it, not actually put into the game, leaving the players to tell you the sky is blue, water is wet, and women have secrets. Please tell me this is a coding error. I have owned a small retail business irl and when comparing options to rent retail space my partner and I used a simplified model of seeking to rent space for between a penny and a nickel per expected person in foot traffic. This was a realistic model that gave us a fair chance to make a profit and saw us paying a fair rent to our landlord for the space. By contrast, one gold per minute would require two thirds of the entire current playerbase to visit a given shop every single day. If you want player testing of shops, reduce the rent cost by a factor of 90%, minimum. If you want them to be ignored and players to continue to wonder what you could possibly be thinking, leave them where they are. For a development studio that started out claiming it wanted to pattern Arlas after Eve, your apparent grasp of economics is abysmal. Jat et al, I hope that by now you are familiar enough with my posting history as a member of this community since day one to know that I do not engage in hyperbole or overblown emotional reactions. This is straight talk from someone who has played MMO’s since 2004, whose favorite aspect of MMO’s is economy, and who has a real world background in business.

they added 40% islands but seems also alot more lawless too nearly whole E section row is lawless or free port they should better added 1 freeport center map or 5 freeports in a + form over the map so peeps have way more islands to claim as solo peeps now never get a island

Please make heads equiptable in the off hand. i want to press block and wave a freshly chopped head by its hair at their captured mates or even just block with the head.. like a shield but much less effective.. Would be glorious.

Man, you are never going to get out of that hole. Smh. Wait a couple more days and you will have to sell a galleon to break even and then the upkeep just starts again
  7. 2 points
If that's the case then I am good with keeping that historically accurate. Besides what could be more morale busting then being sunk by one of your old ships?
  8. 1 point
There should be an option to change the ownership of a ship without the necessity to claim. An option where you give away your ship voluntarily. Wit that option you could sell ships to other players or tribes. Why should you do that? Well for gold or for roleplay. You could banish people from your tribe and set them out in the ocean on a raft that they can actually interact with.

Okay, I guess I will start with quick introduction. My name is Ginger, and since atlas launched I have been helping out gamingalliance.net with their atlas server. I have spent the past few months understanding not only the Grid Editor, but also the Dev Kit. I was curious as to how the game spawned resources (What determined that this specific Rock gave you Granite not Sandstone etc). After looking into the Atlas Dev Kit, stumbling my way around I managed to find the Harvest Components for each resource type and, from here I viewed them with the reference viewer, and with this I found they where used by FoliageOverrides. Upon further inspection, I was able to determine these foliage overrides controlled the Resources you would get when harvesting nodes. They can be located in 'Game/Atlas/AtlasCoreBP/HarvestComponents/FoliageOverrides/' For this quick explanation I will use 'FoliageOverride_01_NE_Tropical_RARE'. If you right click this file and open it using the reference Viewer it shows us which sub_levels use it and which resources it "Spawns". *Note: In order to see all resources / sub_levels you need to untick the box in the top left hand side of the Reference Viewer 'Search Breadth Limit'. this is currently set to 15 and there for will show a maximum of 15 resources/ sub_levels* On the left hand side we see a list of the Sub levels. Mnt_H_Farthest_01, Mnt_I_Farthest_01 etc. These are the Sub levels for islands in the Server Grid Editor. To find an island which uses this type of sub level we need to look at island names, they need to match the first part example: 'Mnt_H' and they need to be a tropical Island. now, looking at the editor there are 2 island which matches both of these criteria. 'Mnt_H_TR' & 'Mnt_H_WR'. If we click on 'Mnt_H_TR' in the server grid editor and then click on edit island, a dialog will open, and inside that dialog we can see a button labeled 'Add Sublevels', above this button is a list of sub levels applicable to the current selected Island. In the List We see 'Mnt_H_Farthest_01'. This island is a Tropical Rare Resource Island. If we close the edit window and look at 'Mnt_H_WR' you will notice it is also a tropical Island but the sub level here is 'Mnt_H_Farthest_04' which is wrong for the Tropical_Rare islands we are looking for. Below I have posted a link to a spread sheet I have created for each type of Biome type and all FoliageOverrides. (It was completed so i thought until i realised I had to untick that box in the reference viewer)... But, if you select atleast 1 island from each of the foilage overrides selected I believe you should have every resource available in your server / map. 'https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13S5ZrzTReY_8h_LiMN4vXWFMJYSvGQYGOaL6w0dqvUc/edit?usp=sharing If this is hard to follow, I'm sorry. I'm just a guy who likes pulling things apart, sometimes put them back together and I'm not great at explaining things hahaha.. I am only a hobbyist when it comes to programming also but, I have tried to edit the server grid editor to add a search-able Island list, but I have had little luck getting that to work. Any questions please just post them here happy map Building

Both have 10 days inactivity timer, so it doesnt really matter, but: Claim vs lawless + Alpha + bigger ressourceblock from buildings demolish ( +owner / - not owner) taxes (+ owner / dont mind not owner) Upkeep (- owner) ---- NOT OWNER Dont use new buildings for 24 hours, if someone claims he can demolish new buildings. lawless + faster ressource respawn +/- no alphas (tmp mb) + almost no ressource block - spam anyway - lag if overpopulated/overbuild + can not be demolished (except inactivity timer) Unlclaimed land vs lawless + Alpha (tmp mb) + bigger ressourceblock from buildings + mb less populated, therefore less lag ---- Dont use new buildings for 24 hours, if someone claims he can demolish new buildings.

Dear PVE players, lets face the truth : All of the small islands that you could maybe take with your small groups are taken again. So every 30-40 point island is gone. Whats left to you ? A life as a slave to some landlords or an existance as an outlaw in lawless. So why dont you join the Empire server ? I know, you dont like gankers lolstomping you from behind while building up a beautiful pirate castle. I dont like them neither. BUT : You are really safe of these on the Empire server. You can place 150 claim flags, thats enough for even a big island. There is a lot of space for everyone, the hackers, griefers and gankers enjoy their rulor & roxxoring on the Colonies servers and are not present on the Empire server. As these unworthy griefers are way to lazy declaiming your 150 flags your assets are quite safe. Join now, and become a real pirate ! Yours Sith friend

To have the no building radius of structures increased 10x.... That’s it..... Pillars are the claim flag of Lawless .... people ARE going to pillar to keep others from building 15 feet in front of their door.... would Lawless not be nicer and less laggy if I could place one pillar 30 foot from my door instead of having to use 6 pillars to achieve the same result?..... It ain’t that hard to understand..... I don’t know why the devs struggle with this.... Since I play in the system they give me, let me ask this.... I saw someone using underground pipes instead of pillars.... they looked like metal pipe ballard’s sticking out of the ground.... did not look bad.... does anyone know of anything else that looks better than pillars/foundations that can be used ?....

I don't know if I will ever play PvE, but in the event that I did, I would likely play unofficial for the cool mods, especially building mods. Not sure why anyone would want to play PvE in the toxic cesspool that is Official PvE. What would drive me insane is the pillar and foundation spam, and all the other antisocial BS that goes on. Who wants to go to islands that are covered in foundations and pillars? It would look absurd. Not that the ridiculous walled ports on official are any better.

The only winner would be the buyer though all the profit the seller made would go to the upkeep lol

    (2) Not enough islands for everyone to get one. Don't want to be a landlord, and definitely do not want to be a tenant. Only option left is lawless, but that is minority of the map. and I did quit, and uninstalled. looking for good reason to come back.

Haha thats twisted. We should be able to buy/sell them. When you look at them have bright large text listing the players name and editable text field.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw that NA PvE was being launched at a later date. They knew going in that Empires was going to fail, but wanted to verify and show the playbase that it would fail. Wipe hardware and relaunch as NA PvE.

I've literally gone across the world head hunting in a brig with a bloodthirsty crew. lawless is my hunting ground. 32 heads on the wall. piracy is truly amazing now. swinging onto ships. a fresh new world ripe for plunder. looking badass while doing it.
  22. 1 point
Sorry I didn’t realize you could see every ones tax rate on the map. Thank you for that information.
  23. 1 point
It's good. It doesn't reduce the interval, it extends it. So for example if lets say you pay 100 Gold per 12hrs, you get more people settle/build on your land then the 12hrs becomes 18 hours (for argument sake) and therefore you pay the 100 less often.
  24. 1 point
Bull shit. I'm having a blast. I've got a wall with 32 heads on it at home and bookcases full of blueprints and chests full of gold and loot from pirating. been on the move for days with a bloodthirsty crew. It's been 3 days since wipe. Don't ever presume you know a damn thing not even having bought or played it after this update. Its been sick.

Storage lockers are lockable. Have to set pin code, they are not locked by default. Should be the first thing you do after placing one.

Before wipe we had a garden with all plants, every couple of weeks i'd do a large batch of pork pies and fish and chips for the company. It took about an hour or so. A few more viable combinations food and drink for all vitamins would be nice, but time wise and cost is ok.

I always like building things in Atlas even though its mostly pointless, but now that I have finished the first part of my lawless fort and looked at it from a distance I am not happy. There should be more parts for building so you dont have to use doorframes on the top of the walls to fake having crenelations. Also would like bigger flags, and banners that can be custom painted. About 2-3 foundations wide and 4 long on banners would be good. One could argue that they have better things to do then make frufru decorations for a pve minority in a pvp game, but on the other hand in terms of pvp, nothing ruins a persons day better than having their beautiful defense network and perfectly laid out villages in burning ruins after a failed defense. Failure drives innovation. Here is my fort with the doorframes that I dont like. At some point I would like useless cannons on top because... cannons?

The time between the ticks increases the more settlers you get
  30. 1 point
I had never lived on lawless pre wipe.... found a cool spot on lawless (lawless islands have lots of points of interest)…. loving it.... have no desire to ever leave lawless.... only thing I ask of these devs is to increase the no build radius for foundations/pillars so I don't need as many to keep people a few feet off my front door.... bigger radius means cleaner looking islands, less lag, and (insert your own reason here)….
  31. 1 point
Pretty sure it works like this. Having more settlers does not change upkeep amount, changes the payment interval.
  32. 1 point
isnt it the time between the upkeep cost similar to crew , cost is same just duration i.e 1 settler = x gold per 1 hour , 2 settler= x gold per 1.3 hours?
  33. 1 point
I like the sound of that man. Even though we did have tames in ark my buddy and I were always building 100x100 plus metal bases with tons of turrets in no time. damn Megas kept coming along and wiping us because they thought we had at least 20 people in our clan. Yeah I hate Megas edit: efficiency is everything
  34. 1 point
Yeah our upkeep is the same also. Tho I haven't checked it may be the time period between payments and not the amount of gold. Can anyone confirm this?

A new skill 'Dowsing', unlocked after the Shovel and Treasure Finding skills, or after Tilling 3 in the Cooking tree. This would allow players to find underground springs, similar to the Treasure Hunting activity. Springs would exist on "green" soil, same as can currently be found. The size of the island would determine the number of wells present. Once an underground spring is found, players can dig it up using a shovel, same as treasure hunting. Once the spring is dug up, it would create a permanent small geyser and puddle of fresh water that players can drink from or fill waterskins & jugs. The Shovel quality level and Treasure digging skill used determine the water refresh rate of the spring. Grey/none might provide 200 water/hr, while Epic/Advanced might provide 1000/hr. When the spring is depleted, the geyser would disappear, but the puddle would remain (like the mud puddle in Ark:Scorched Earth). Players can later improve a Spring at later dates by following the Dowsing skill again and using higher quality Shovels, higher tier Digging skills, and using the Treasure Hunting accordion buff. New item "Water Well" in the Stone working skill. Same as the well in Ark, can be placed on a Spring/puddle and will collect fresh water. Has an internal inventory of 1000 water. Can have pipes connected to store water in other Stone Water Reservoirs, or irrigation to plants. The well could have Blueprint versions with buffs to Water refresh rate and/or water storage volume.

Pax what server do you play on ? I have been in several different times and there are no islands left in the tundra, Temperate, or Tropical that a solo or even a husband and wife can claim. Not in EU pve anyway.
  37. 1 point
I've discovered that I am not finding all of the resources (e.g. Bark), as the dev kit files refer to other assets which I did not consider. A bit harder than I expected... So I would not rely on those files. I'll post again when I will have figured it out.
  38. 1 point
We built one and put it up.... only people in our company could even access it (even if it is unlocked)… we tried everything to get it working, including hiring a NPC to see if we could assign it to the shop. No joy. Utterly useless atm

If I am an island owner, here's how I look at the suggestions - many of the small islands only have 1 or 2 good spots to build. People grab those first, even if they don't want to claim the island. That's a mistake, because whoever is paying the upkeep is going to feel they should have at least 1 of those spots. I know I would. Nobody is going to come along later and claim that island if they can't destroy some of that stuff. And if you don't want a landlord, you just build over the resources, and then nobody would ever want to claim that island. I don't know,, it looks like we are just coming up with more and more complicated systems to do something that could be a lot simpler - everyone gets to claim land with limits based on company size. With the old claim system with claims caps in place, I would go looking for land like this - 1. Do I like this biome? 2. Is there land available here? 3. If there anything awful right next to me? (Giant stone boxes, companies with racist or otherwise nasty names, etc) 4. How are the resources? And then I'd claim the land. With this new system, I'd still do all that, and then I'd have to worry about the landlord if there was one. Will he destroy my stuff? Will he let other people build stuff 2 tiles away from mine? Will HE build stuff 2 tiles away from mine? Is he going to let bunches of objectionable companies build on the island? (Sorry, but I am just not up for spending my free time hanging out with "Sexy Grandpa", or "N**erbomb"... names I have really seen in the game) If the land is not claimed, then I have to check to see if anybody else has already done any of those things, because I can't destroy their stuff if the timer's already gone off. And if I do destroy their stuff, then I get to be the mean landlord for destroying their stuff. Then assuming I jump all those hurdles, and claim land, there are the rules - you can't destroy anyone's stuff if the first thing they built was more than 12 hours ago, unless they are doing "excessive building", then you can destroy their stuff (just the excessive stuff?), and they can have a deed flag, and you can't destroy anything inside the deed. Or I do all those things and become a settler. I can build , but I have to wait 12 hours to see if I can stay, and then I can stay, but I can't expand "excessively", and I have to worry about what the landlord thinks and what he's going to do and who he's going to let build around me. It gets way too complicated. When do I just get to have a piece of land that I can control, and go out sailing and have some adventures? Why do I have to be a landlord at the mercy of some tenant, or a tenant at the mercy of some landlord when I just want to be a pirate?

In general I think the game would benefit from animal density across all grids being lowered.

I'm a solo company and currently living on an unclaimed settlement waiting for someone to claim it. So it's not a case of being in a big company or living in lawless.
  45. 1 point
Yeah, they really should have just made a lot of servers. Never saw the point of this big world before, it was pretty much a gimmick to excite people. after that didn’t work and the numbers dropped they should really just split up the servers. This could actually be a very good idea and get rid of part of the mega problem
  46. 1 point
If the new system is just going to encourage this type of behavior from douche companies what's the point? 3 people were on this lawless server and every island on it looked like garbage with spam everywhere. Hey Lotus, this heap of garbage is yours.

I don't get the removing of flags either for PVE limiting it to 1 or 2 per player would be a way better solution, seems they want to come up with there own half solution instead of trying what the community is asking for since day 1 of release... But ill judge when its out on the ptr if i still want to play on official

Yes please! The Behemoth Gates are much too large. Even more so in Atlas than in ARK. Either give us dynamic gates - like they have long since proven to be working in the s+ mod - or at least an intermediate gate that's just large enough to fit an elephant and giraffe but smaller than the oversized Behemoth.

Gooday' peeps. I've been compiling a list of console commands, so I thought why not share the love? So, here you go. Hope it comes in handy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M-1_faHIrspxrmzfIDDlX7lEcGJE8FiO6MtTHQOu9ks/edit?usp=sharing Please be aware it's still a WIP and I'm still testing a few commands but, most of them work and for some of the ones that don't, there's a generic code to get the base resource.

Ahoy Pathfinders! ccc is a console command which takes your current in game coordinates and server grid then formats that into a cheat command used by Grapeshot employees to teleport to your exact location. It's useful when reporting map issues, or passing on specific information about your location to the team. To use the command, please do the following: - Open your console with the ` key (you can find it located next to 1 or above TAB) - Type in: ccc - Hit Enter Demonstration of the command typed into the console. The game will automatically copy the coordinates to your clipboard, just hit ctrl+v and you will paste the cheat command. It will be formatted like this: cheat TP J8 -451257 320374 484 Please use this when you are making reports to us, it will allow us to be more efficient when looking into your reports! Thank you
