Ok, so to start on a positive note, I will say that you sound like a good landlord. And for some people, they might be very happy to be a renter at your island and that might be enough for them. However, that's not really the point, whether the landlord is Good or "bad". The point is, to be free of a landlord altogether. I believe this is a deeply rooted human need. It is the dream of very many people, to have some place to call "My own". I sure know that's True for me. I rent an apartment IRL, but would a thousand times more want to have my own place. So I rent IRL, now I come Into a fantasy world, a game, and am going to rent and pay taxes just like in real life? A game is supposed to be an escape from real life... where you have a good chance to get stuff you can't in real life. The deep seated human need to have your own space, you can see in every neighborhood of Residences. They have fences around their house. The fences are even low, not able to keep out people, simply to mark out "This is my territory". As you say, you have a landlord's perspective. It is the same IRL. The people who have money in society, most often Believe that "the other half" doesn't need more money, or that they should be content with what they have, etc. Empathy for others, true empathy, is quite rare, sadly... I am not saying that you don't mean well, I think you do. But, what you're saying is a little bit like a millionaire telling the beggar to be happy with what he's got. It might make sense to you since you're in the privileged position. This claim system is a disaster for solo players and small groups and sadly it will drive away many players. I am still debating whether to give up the game or not, since I don't rly like lawless and would like a landlord even less.

And one day the good lord saw what his peasants built. Shining fortresses full of gold and good stuff. So he changed to a greedy lord and demolished and plundered what was on his land. end of story.

It’s been live for less than 24 hours, but I already have several concerns about the new claim system for PvE. There is a very finite supply of islands that a solo or small company is capable of claiming. After the 15 and 23 point islands are claimed, I think that the next point value is 53. The island points that a company can have seems to be 30 + 1 for every additional member. My wife and I have 32 island points available to use. This means that to claim even the 53 point islands, you need a minimum company size of 23. That’s quite the jump from solo, or a few friends. There is also a possibility of a large company starting off in small pieces to claim several of the smaller islands, only to merge together later. Multiple people can try to claim the same island at the same time. You end up with a confrontation with the claimers basically griefing each other until the other(s) give up. And if you’re the one that ends up losing, congratulations! You’ve lost the claim AND the gold it cost to drop the claim flag, so in the early rush you may not be able to even try again. The tax rates seem to default to 50%. 30% was stupid enough, but now in PvE you give up half of everything you farm, including gold from treasure chests, to the claim owner. Now the settlement owners can just sit there with a 50% tax rate and not have to do anything. The whole setup feels like it’s intended to cater to large companies. I haven’t done a count yet, but I believe that the majority of the islands will only be claimable by very large companies. Unless the small companies are lucky enough to get a claim early, lawless is looking like the only really viable option. Which is probably just as well, since getting gold after the islands are claimed getting gold will be twice as hard, since you’ll only get half as much. I know I’m being a bit pessimistic saying this, but they’ve really made me feel like they don’t care about PvE at all, aside from the cash the PvE players bring in when they first buy it. They remove one of the PvE maps to add a third PvP map, they setup PvE to almost solely benefit large companies, and it really seems that they didn’t think this through at all. The old system definitely had major flaws, but I think it was way better than this new claim system, at least for PvE.

Come on Grapeshot.... Not having a NA PVE server is the stupidest idea EVER... what were you guys thinking Thanks to this stupid decision... now my RL buddy who I played with is over playing the game entirely Good work driving NA PVE players to another GAME... guess you got you money already So seriously... rant aside WHEN will a NA PVE server be launched... Like it takes time to do that really?? You had two months to have this ready only to screw us PVE players BTW The company Somali Pirates raided our base i shouting racist " die white bastards" That was on empires PVP... which I will NEVER EVER play on a PVP server again

Thanks for showing me you really dont care for the PvE community. Thanks for not checking up on grids and the exploiting of this new system. Big companies have claimed large island and members have splintered off to get even more island. Getting gold is a joke, diving into wrecks and even a soloplayer can maintain an huge island now. Yes, good testing on PTR. Right. Not even a warning someone else is claiming, only when they're done. So, 3 claims, all half done and no little spots left after 16 hours being awake. From launch/delay/delay/delay/launch. You blew the game for alot of us. No singleplayer option. Half of the bs you sold us prehype is NOT coming into the game. All halfbaken promisses you made, all are ridiculously bad. And for all the haters, wipe is imminent within 3months.

Thx for this new Claimsystem where you set up a few landlords as claimowners which have all force and might to bully others around if they dont obey without any chance to get something you really own. Your former system wasnt that bad it worked good when you had the protectection time down on 4 days (so it was possible to claim a abandoned claim, short after you put it up to 20 days which preventend any claiming). But i dont want to be bullied around from anyone and as it is already impossible to get something your own as an single player ill Quit and im sure many others would too. Thx again for this completely unfair and uncompetitional system wich only enables grief in a big scale.

Hello Pirates, Buccaneers etc, Im playing Atlas since first day. Alot of ups and sadly more downs we had since them. BUT... With the last big Patch and todays small Patch about Claims and Taxes u realy made it. This is a real good base for the game, that brings alot of fun and challenge. Bugs have to fix, like in any other games but u listin to us and patching stuff realy fast. Im realy looking forward to more Content and Features. Thanks for doing this 180 degrees turn and making the game fun again. PS: dont listen to much to haters.. they are everywhere and skilless Athanis

Some copy-pasting here: a) your new claiming system sucks, all we need was the existing claiming system with a limitation to the flags. b) there are again far too few small islands for solo players and small groups with 2-5 players. Yeah, they COULD group up, but you said the game will be more easy for solo and casual players. So I don't get that point. Big companies simply took the small islands because they can't afford big ones at the beginning. b) your new "quests" are again only for bigger companies c) if I'm crying long and loud enough and stomp my feet because I can't have my own island right now, will you wipe again? Would only be fair, ya know

good until here my adventure arrived by atlas .... all bad once again ... 1 whole day lost looking for treasures that always remains some hidden guardian ... a great disaster once more. I do not know what these creators play, but shit fixes (pve), you need gold to create a flag but the treasures are bugs ... 4 months after giving you many opportunities, nothing you laugh at us in the face .... Well nothing goodbye that you go well adventurers ..

When do you realize that the business model of MMO’s with heavy upfront development costs that are made back over time through revenue streams supported by active ongoing playerbases rather than revenue primarily derived from game sales (which in this model typically barely cover development costs) makes them horribly pointless candidates for the cash grab you and endless other poorly informed gamers keep looking foolish suggesting? Bottom line: trying to do a cash grab with an MMO like Atlas would be like trying to use a unicycle as your getaway vehicle for a bank robbery. Stop suggesting this is the case, it would be wildly impractical as a scam and suggesting it just makes you look as foolish as all the others who have done so. The only way Grapecard makes money with Atlas is if lots of people stick around and play it over time once cash shops are put in. All of the refunds they gave out during the shit show that was launch just makes this doubly true.

Auction House style Economic's inside of MMORPG's are horrible in my opinion! I far prefer individual Vendors for individual players!!! Why?!? Because I enjoy playing as a Merchant and so I view this from the Merchant point of view not from the Consumer point of view! Merchant class- WAS A VIABLE type of play in many older MMORPG's and it was a fun way to play and then MMO's got DUMBED DOWN and simplified! Crafting systems became After thoughts Economy became after thoughts and the only thing that mattered was Graphic's and Instanced Dungeon run's! <---- The Age of WoW clones, which has trained an entire generation of gamers to think silly things like! Auction houses are the best way to have a good ingame economy!!! I have heard the Atlas has put in new content, I use to be very active on these forum's, I am sure Realist and Percivial can confirm this. So I am here now after a long Hiatus to discover if Atlas has improved at all for the better. And the most interesting piece of cheese that I see is the Vendor system. Vendor Based Economies inside of an MMO are great. You will typically end up with many vendors and many of those will be empty or over priced. And this will of course frustrate the consumer, but eventually the consumer will discover vendors that (Keep there vendors stocked) (Price things realistically) = Develop a Reputation This makes the Merchant style player like me happy, keeps me interested and engaged into the game. Auction Houses are the Devil, there nothing but everyone listing there Junk for 1 gold cheeper then the last person that listed there junk, and dedicated Merchant Players now have to compete in a world of undercutting! But in a real vendor world where they need to build up there Reputation, they can choose to Price slightly higher because they are always in stock or charge slightly less risking they will not be able to maintain the stock there consumers rely on them for! So they can go about targeting a different market. Those that will pay a bit more knowing they have what they are looking for or those that are so cheep they will not spend 5 or 10% more and will always go to the guy who is cheapest regardless of the fact he is out of stock 50% of the time! ^^^^^ That is more engaging and fun for a Merchant style player then an Auction House!!! And why the AH is NOT the best system to base an ingame economy aorund!!!

Guys just go ahead and get over it, the new system will stay. You can complain all you want but the fact is this game caters to the big companies and they will give so many positive reviews and make fake accounts to give positive reviews. The devs lied when they said they would make this game better for solo players and small companies. The fact is this game is dead because they listen to too much feedback. If you dont like it dont play You waste your time to get on here and give any feedback because it will not be read. If this game makes it to release I will kiss every blue waffle infected muff in the country. That's how sure I am it will never make it. And by the way the company is ran it deserves to be in the trash pile with the Atari game ET.

Merged with what?! I'm sorry, but even though most Europeans are pretty cool peeps and all, there are too many pve ppl to cramp us all on one server. As it stands now, most claimable land that's affordable is lo g gone and the foundation/pillar spam in lawless is in full swing. And make no mistake, the trolls are out in force. Most of my company said they aren't coming back to atlas, which leaves two of us. And I honestly think the one is only logging in because he feels bad I'd be alone otherwise. Not having an NA PVE server was a very bad ideA. And what happened to the upkeep required for structures? Nothing to hold back the foundation and pillar spam now.
  19. 2 points
I am with you, 1200 hours and last night uninstalled the game. Not interested in Living in lawless, it will start out ok, but soon the new big companies that can't get land will spam the place. And really not interested in paying taxes where some one else can decide the don't like something I built. The one thing that would have stopped that, building maintenance, was not implemted.

This is just about the dumbest thing I have ever seen. How is this a helpfull claiming system for smaller companies when the smaller companies can't even claim a island. Btw the absoloute best part about all of this is that you smart heads decided that wiping on a thursday in the middle of a weak was a great idea. Because people don't have work or school right?
  21. 2 points
Until it gets claimed and the taxes go up. Then its off to find another isle, all your hard work gone again.
  22. 1 point
just wanted to thank grapeshot for the big middle finger they are giving the NA PVE players, forcing them to play on eu server with higher ping and more lag or to play pvp with all that nonsense. so glad you keep your customer base in mind when you make your ridiculous decisions.
  23. 1 point
You either live in big company or live in lawless zone . There are only a few 15 and 26 points islands and way many 35 points islands which you need at least 5 people in your company . So solo players or company that only have few people can't claim any and have to live to lawless zone . In the end we still have same problem as before , don't bother forming small company , just join the big one and get a jump-start .

This thread lacks sufficient bile for the Atlas forums and seems to consist wholly of people discussing things about the game in reasonable, measured tones. That is obviously disturbing and unacceptable. As a public service I will spend the rest of my post bringing the thread back into acceptable bile guidelines. @#$& everybody in this thread. You guys are nothing but a bunch of @#$&s with tiny @#$&s and huge @#$&s. Everyone at Wildshot can @#$& my @#$&. They’re all a bunch of @#$&s anyway who couldn’t @#&& their way out of a @#$&. Please set Tree and other respawn to prepatch Range or like 5 meter but not 30 meter.
  28. 1 point
The plus side to that is the vast majority of people won't read the patch notes. They won't know it's additive. They'll just see the tax rate and assume it comes out of what they gather. They'll still gravitate towards the lower tax rate islands to farm on.
  29. 1 point
yes it is , but this system still has no place in pve fullstop , they have no spawn radius so low its a griefers paradise if they so wish , what if the lanlord doesnt remove them ? then that player has a useless base , benfits for ladlords why ? becuase they claimed their tiny island before anyone else got there , because they were the fastest , i dont think so , now becasue they did the no life thing at release they now get free resources forever with out having to do anything the old claim system with flag limits would have been the best one then every player would have had their own area with out fear of being demolished / walled in etc
  30. 1 point
I would wager, most PvE players do not want to be in large group. In atlas you own nothing, your group owns everything. I personally want more autonomy than that.

In prior iteration of the game I have had a claim, our group of 8 had maybe 10% of what is now a 35 point island. All was good, we had plenty of space to build and still have green space We were in alliance with others that claimed on the islands, the only reason we met them is they also claimed on the same island. We had taxes, we paid them when harvesting on theirs ares, they paid when on ours. We also worked together and traded frequently This all worked well because we where equals. The old claim system let me establish an area and plan out the base. Some like what we did and gave us more land by our base, so we could expand. This iteration however, did not get an island. Yes,could live on lawless, but at anytime could get boxed in my a anyone, than now it 10 days after they stop playing before I could clean up the mess. Or I could pillar spam the area I may want to build, then be no better than the people I complain that pillar spam. They should have kept the old claim flags on PvE, but added upkeep for each flag, that had to paid at each flag, so if you had 100 claims would have to have to make sure 100 flags are stocked with gold. Taxes should be capped in PvE at 10%, no reason for more, but the land is yours since your paying for it, you can decide not to let people build or not. Possibly adding a white lest to allow specific other to build. I chose to take this time to quit, and uninstalled the game. But I hold out hope they will make the game desirable for solo/small groups. under the guise of making it better for solo and small groups, they made it far worse.
  33. 1 point
    - Max Tax rate on PvE set to 20%, and is only additive on PvE (doesn't reduce the taxee's resources) Very welcomed addition to the patch notes, thank you! I'm still on an unclaimed island, but knowing that when it does get claimed it is only 20% and is additive is good to hear!
  34. 1 point
I think they need to remove lot of lawless zones. Like one square where the PortTown is and islands on that square to be lawless.Aditional lawless squares around the Port town sqare just take too much Squares FROM THE WHOLE MAP.
  35. 1 point
They turned the old NA PVE server into [Empires] [PvP] [NA] The Forgotten Depths the grids have the same IPs They only increased the number of islands by 40% and then reduced 100% by turning our place to play on another PVP server - https://www.battlemetrics.com/servers/atlas/2986094 I know that paying for 225 grids obviously has its monthly cost but leaving your players without a decent place to play is ridiculous. After all apparently only the problems with abandoned boats was solved it is very cool but for that we lost everything including a place to play in a decent way and without so much LAG I've visited a few lawless and some people have already started spamming foundations again and now it got even worse since the decay time is 10 days !!! Best of all is that as I had read here in the forum the big companies are putting their flags in small islands with 15~34 Island points and with that they have more islands and with different resources and the solo players has only with 30 Island Points they will never be able to have a land and are forced to live in lawless ever with of a crazy neighbor who wants to build a giant gate in their head or block their shipyeard. The solution to this is that just as in ARK it is possible to create a dedicated server easily to play with friends or alone I do not see another solution.

PVE's new island point system eventually failed. So there's no more people playing games than ever before. or on an island without a host of more than 50 points.Or there are more people in the lawless world. You guys need to reset it again? If we'd created an island-ownership system, at least we'd have to separate the non-aligned and allied taxes. It has to be distinguished. Non-Aligned 0 to 50Alliance Fixed 5 Store Tax 5Lawless users pay 20% of the store tax.The alliance can apply from the flag of the island's owner, if accepted.Building availabilityAlso, the developers should have made this. Structure where stores can be placed spaced by interval When the owner builds a store through this structure, the islanders use it to build a store. It's a deal. So every store is comfortable near its owner's flag, and it's easy for others to use. It's like the front part of the video you've created. It's a small town, you idiots Do you think there are people who play games far away because they just care about territory?

I think we are staying on EU Pve till the next wipe, i was a little concered if there would be ping issues playing on the EU server, but so far I haven't seen over 50 ping, which is what I averaged on NA PVE before the wipe announcment

Yelp... I've had my fun with this game at lunch and before anarchy thingies... Had a small claim.. all was good. Now it's shite, my small company couldn't get a small 15 island thanks to bigger companies rushing B to quickly grab them instead of medium-large ones. So what, now I have to live and pay my fantastic overlord. And if he has a bad humor he can just boot me out of my stuff. Niiiceeee... And before "WE ARE GOOD COMPANIES. THERE ARE GOOD PPL" yeah. But still most of ppl are d*cks

unofficial servers tend to disapear out of a sudden (the one who pays the server isnt interested anymore) and PVP as a soloplayer ends up with sunken ships and raided bases on a dayly basis. i dont mind pvp tbh it is fun for sure but this griefing offlineraiding and shipsinking fucks me off - realy. with the old system of claiming you had a fair chance if you where patient enough (took me over two weeks of searching) to get some place you know its save at all and nobody could fuck around with your stuff, now if you get on the bad side of the claimowner (which somtimes only takes some unserious words) he could simply demolish your base. So honestly how could you fuck up a claimsystem so completely in another way like this?
  42. 1 point
The difference between playing pvp vs. pve is even bigger than the difference between the claims systems. Pve people don't like pvp.
  43. 1 point
EU PvE will be wiped and put up togther with NA PvE, mark my words. It's a total bust the new claimsystem.

so wait can one of the devs can clarify something for me? Have you gone overboard on the restrictions on PVE claim Flags? Are you telling me that because I am a two-man company that I just stayed up all night trying to claim land and doing everything I needed to to claim land but I can't because I'm a two-man company and that's not enough people. You should be able to claim at least one territory that's ridiculous I have dealt with glitched-out snakes to the point that the game hasn't even been fun anymore and I can't claim land like I was promised that I would be able to do in PVE. I have friends that I was going to have buy The Game and join me but I'm about ready to tell him don't bother. I completely understand this is Early Access and there's a lot of things to be fixed on this game but the balancing issue with the monsters is ridiculous when you can't walk for the dang cobras killing you no matter what level you are a level 1 Cobra can kill you with out a fight it really makes the game no fun cuz it's just a slaughterfest for the monsters and you're constantly doing body runs I had three Alpha cobras on me earlier so I'm sure you can understand where I'm upset and then the fact that I find out because you've gone overboard with the restrictions on PVE I can't claim land a company should be able to claim at least one territory I don't want to deal with PVP because I'm a Casual Gamer I mostly play on the weekends because I'm a single mom and it played when my child is at his dad's I can't play PVP I don't have the time to invest in that that's why I was happy when you put the claiming system back in PVE this is a big letdown
  45. 1 point
I'm a solo company and currently living on an unclaimed settlement waiting for someone to claim it. So it's not a case of being in a big company or living in lawless.

Hello. I stopped playing since the announcement of the wipe because I loved my slow progression, but with the wipe my progression would be lost so I gave up. Since then I have visited the forums every day for news. I was happy that finally the update would come out, now I see that PVE NA Server will not exist for the moment. Daemon Cross, will you play on EU Network? I always see your posts in this forum because I like your opinions. Note: In NA PVE you gave me a flag for my and my wife, we are always grateful for this, +100 hours of fun there After waiting so long I have 2 options: 1) Try to play on the European server and who knows how lucky to find an island. 2) Give up the game and look for something else. I will not wait "weeks" for a server.
  49. 1 point
Well honestly I feel like they pushed people into the PVP PTR when they took down the EU pve server and then the NA pve server, now I think they feel they have the numbers to run both pvp servers and that’s why the NA server is being placed on hold for a couple weeks instead of the new pvp server. If NA pve players move to the EU pve server then what is really the point in bringing back up the NA pve server in the 1st place ?
  50. 1 point
Taxes in PvE don't bother me, but 30% I feel should be max. 50% is absurd.
