IRL, I am renting a house. I cannot add shelves in my garage. I cannot add a vegetable garden. I cannot paint the house purple (Assuming I would want to)... I am a tenant... My Landlord must be consulted about every mod I think of. And he gets the final say. Yet... I change out lightbulbs. I change air filters I mow his lawn. I clean his gutters. I keep his place orderly... Being a tenant on an island, where the Landlord can remove (destroy) a taming pen I place because it doesn't suit him... OK... vent/off... Shorelines are the valuable property. Anywhere a shipyard can be placed. As many have said.. this game is about sailing. But you need a home port. And you want it to be YOURS. So... Look at shorelines. Evaluate where shipyards can be placed and make these Shorelines claimable... Make each section about 150 yards long... enough for a small and large shipyard plus room for 2-3 ships to port. Limit claims to 1 per person or 3 per company per island. 450 yards of shoreline (3 claims) is enough room to build a monster castle and port. Limit the number a company can own to something like 20 total... max of 3 for a single island. This will give a large company opportunities to set up trade routes on several different islands. Also, by limiting the number per island, it'll help prevent a company from consuming an entire island. I, personally, do not like the idea of a person or company controlling an entire island, unless it is a tiny islet with 20 palm trees. Allow building within 150 yards of the shoreline. This is your place. This will allow the interiors of islands to remain free and harvestable. And it creates several Thousand claim locations.

So let me tell you a story. I am a leader in a very large Star Citizen Organization. Some of our people play Atlas, as do I. We are spread out. I am trying to being them together, and bring new people in. I recently convinced over a half dozen to buy. They all have had positive things to say about the game. I have learned that there are specific things that hold many people back from buying, and playing. ARK's reputation for offline raids. Atlas' reputation for offline raids Atlas' bad reviews, mostly complaining about network problems, bugs, and AI predator imbalance (solved or drastically improved), and offline destruction of what took a lot of effort to build (Not yet solved.) I understand that those who liked the offline raiding in ARK, and like it here, will not like the changes, but to them, I can only say that Offline raiding is going away. You can deal with that constructively or not...your choice. OK, so I brought those guys into a server with absurdly boosted rates so that they could learn a lot by doing a lot, before the wipe on official. Most want to go to official. They know the rates won't be as good. But they don't know the game, or it's mechanics, or the nuances to what works and what doesn't. But they learn fast. They make mistakes, but learn from them. That's what I wanted. So one mistake made, while I was not online...they were too aggressive. They talked with our official players, and so to their understanding, you fight anyone who enters your grid, as on official, you or your Alliance, typically control a grid. There are nuances but they had not the time or experience to understand this. So when a new company...new to the server, but the top dog in their previous server, started moving into the same grid, my new guys thought it was their duty to attack on sight. So they did. After some interactions with this other crew, it is apparent to me that they know the Meta, but I am less than impressed with their PvP skills. Four new players with less than a week in game, using 3 bears, and their own weapons killed every animal they brought out. Bears, Tigers, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, flame cart horse, etc... One of the new guys made the mistake of getting into their base with no way out, and made it into their crafting area. He ran around in there with a bow, while two of the enemy popped in and out, trying to kill him...they never did. He finally got out when they opened the doors. We had no explosives, so I knew it wouldn't be much of a raid, but didn't care. I still knew they could learn things from this raid, and that was the point of letting them do it. So it was going well until I tried to move the Galleon, and as soon as I hit W, all of us experienced a huge lag spike, and before we knew it, the Galleon was crashed into a cliff, well past the beach, and then disappeared under the mesh. Looked like a scene from a horror movie when I whistled J to see if I could bring the crew to the surface. About 60 NPCs came up out of the ground. But this was the beginning of the end. It was a spur of the moment chance for some PvP action for the guys, not a true raid. No forward base, no explosives, etc.. So the loss of the Galleon meant the end of the PvP action, as everything was on that ship. So when you were out of ammo, or killed, you had no ability to continue fight. Still, the fighting went on for a while. Was fun. All of the comments by my guys after the fight, were positive, and about how fun the fighting was. When it was over, the typical flames and trash talk came from the defenders. Me and my guys simply typed, "GG...was a fun fight." Which gets us closer to the real issue here. As a result of the good sportsmanship on the part of my guys, their leader showed good sportsmanship, and even asked for an invite to our discord. We talked on discord and he seemed like a good guy. He himself suggested that we be friendly and have ship battles against each other, not base raiding. I thought that would be good. You can build a lot of ships on that server, so I thought it would give my guys a lot of good experience building and fighting ships. So the next day, we saw those guys coming in and out of our server. Assumed that now that we were mostly friendly to each other, they were going back to concentrating on building their base in that server, so we ignored it. We made plans to go together on a Gold run, and when we were two grids away, one of the guys looked at the company log, and saw that everything was destroyed. Yes, the other company was not building their own base, they were prepping to raid us. No problem with that, except that they waited for us to leave. I have the DM screenshots to prove it. Their leader admitted they were worried about player numbers. So they waited till we left, then started destroying everything. We got no death/destruction messages. So after one of the guys saw this in the company logs, this is when I started the DM chat with the other leader. My guys nearly quit the game over it. Not because the stuff was destroyed. They don't care bout that. Rates are so high they built back up in a day. They were angry that the game mechanics allowed somebody to deny them a PvP fight. They didn't care about the "defeat" in the raid...losing the galleon, and not destroying the other base. They had a great time during the fighting. These are hard core PvP players that keep our Organization in the top 3 in Star Marine and Arena Commander, in Star Citizen. Those are largely broken right now due to new bugs, so they wanted to play other games while they wait for updates in Star Citizen. They also didn't care about losing everything in the raid on our base. The only thing they kept going on about, as I listened to them, was that they had been denied the ability to fight that day. They were denied PvP action. Their leader was banned from the Discord, not for raiding us, but for not keeping his word, and the offline raiding. My guys want nothing to do with him, and see no value in people who can't keep their word. When they came to Atlas, they were positive. Comments were along the lines of "What is everyone crying about? This is awesome." Yet, offline raiding nearly drove them from the game. I talked them down, but I could see that their enthusiasm had been tempered. People do not like PvO, and ARK and Atlas have a reputation of being where people who suck at PvP, hide and do PvO to boost their ego. Convincing themselves that they are doing PvP, and are good at it. PvO has to go. The Devs know this, and are to be patted on the back for attempting to fix this problem. Will this system have to have some changes...some tweaks...some additions...some deletions, to the mechanics? Sure. I don't think even the Devs think this is the end of the road for that part of the development. But they are on the right track. PvO is the #1 complaint of people who left, and those who never even bought, though they like the idea of the game. Give it time to develop. I will be the first to say that EA is not an excuse for bad decisions, but trying new mechanics to stop the PvO meta is NOT a bad decision. It is THE right decision.

The dev team seems to be unconcerned with player drop at the moment. This suggests they are funded well, and the investors have faith in their vision, whatever might it be. So, IMHO, posts like this will not move anyone or anything.

I gotta admit, I like your style. I never thought the old claim system was a good either and to be honest I don’t think the new one is any better. I see all these posts about lawless and I just say “you go guys, show the man who is boss”. They say that the game should be played this way and you say to hell with that, I play the game the way I want to play it. i admire gamers that are willing to go their own way and don’t bother trying to group up out of weakness. It is the pioneers that gave us this awesome country we live in. Keep being different. Keep refusing to conform. i think I might do the whole lawless thing as well when it finally comes to console. Really hoping they can surpass the usual subpar behavior and get it out on console in a reasonable amount of time. to be clear, I know they won’t get it out anytime soon, but I still want them to

You are really stuck in your mindset. You say it yourself, you can still PvP, you can just not attack the base and parked ships 24/7 unless you declared war. What is good about this? 9 hours a day is a reasonable time, to stay close and online to defend your island, bases, and ships. In the other time, you can explore, attack enemy bases and ships, pvp, do all the fun stuff instead of babysitting your gear, island, and base. What do we want? We want to have fun, go out, explore, do PvP, attack ships on the sea when all players are on it and bases when they are being defended. We want to play with friends, people we know not some unknowns drafted for base defense and farming. What do YOU seem to want? You seem to want to sink ships when players are offline, in port. You want to break into bases and loot stuff when players are off. You want everyone to defend their bases 24/7 or lose all their stuff. You want people forced to play in large groups, of unknown people, just to have a tiny chance to one day do something fun. -- Honestly, i would argue further, that it would be in the best interest of the game, to keep the companies SMALL (They started with 1k, went to 500, now down to 250, still too large) 20-25 people is fun, MAYBE... 50 but 250 is still way too much.

we are not active anymore, and we will not play at ptr fase. its pointless to play and get wiped again. just put the new patch to live servers, and patch stuff overthere. make it like ark, with better defence structures for offline protection. we left the game immediatly after the wipe anouncement. we are NOT going to farm bases, boats and stuff. it will be a waste of time AGAIN! the devs cant ask players to invest/waste their time, to test the game. otherwise make a payout to the players.

See here lies the problem, This is my personal opinion as a solo player. Do you want to have your own land - yes Do you want to have a whole island - no Do you want to rent from someone - no Do you want someone to police you - no Do you want to be part of a mega company - no Do you want to have an upkeep - not really but if it means owning land and no one can build on my couple claims then it’s fine. How much land do you need - Enough for storage areas, taming pens and 4 shipyards. Why - because I want what’s fair for one to be fair for all. Explain - just because you play the game as a solo player you should be treated no different than someone who plays with 20 of their friends. What about mega companies - If a person joins a company then what they own becomes part of that company, if that person leaves a company then what they own leaves as well. So you think this would solve the claim issues - yes Explain- by limiting claims per account then that stops flag spamming, that stops pillar spamming and that stops foundations spamming because you can only build within your claim or on someone else’s claim that is set to public building

4-5 days prior to the PTR release on what has been a 30 day + development push? Unlikely. I think we're pretty much set in stone at this stage that it will be some flavour of one claim per island with the settlement situation. How the islands are taken/managed/maintained will be the things to be influenced at this point.

How many language you know? English is not the only big language in the world. Mandrin and Spanish are bigger languages then English. And why learn English if there biggest trade partners are from example Russia. Probably those countries Lear Russian. Not the whole world evolve around English. But it can be a pain in the ass to communicate in a mmo, that is true.

Oh one more issue about paint : ) With anarchy I made a pink Galley. Then I hired 32 crew for sails and guns. Then I crafted 32 hide boots, gloves, pants, waist and head for my crew (because I care about npcs and as far as they have to be on duty in Tundra, they need to wear something warmer then pajamas and bandana. I know it sound weird because they not affected by temperature but that's the way I choice to play, you not blame me for that : )) Anyway I then decided to paint their uniform in red-pink to match ship color... And I had to buy 160 red dyes. And 320 pink dyes. And then I had to apply each single dye to each single peace of clothes. 480 clicks on paint bottles. 480 applies to different "regions" in clothes menu. 480 clicks apply. Several miss-clicks. Buy several more dyes. After first 20 minutes of clicking I started to regret that. I started to feel SotD's circles serves more purpose than I do right now : ))) What I'm saying - some instrument allowing to paint crafts in the moment of creation would be gr8 : ))

But all depends on how the new autorepair structure will work. If they do it correct, the pillar-spam will not be as horrible as it is now and there is way more space to spread the players because all island are treated equal after the wipe.

Come on Devs. FOR YEARS IN ARK WE ASKED FOR A CHOICE OF GATES, AND YOU WOULDN'T GIVE US THEM. I am sick and tired of having to build structures that are either TOO SMALL or stupidly OVERSIZED, just to fit the gates. Please give us a selection of Gates, or implement the DYNAMIC GATE from the S+ MOD from Ark. Its not difficult and can be implemented quickly. It would also stop so many shit oversized building having to be made. Which in turn will reduce the lag on the servers. WIN WIN WIN. Come on Devs start using some common sense, you've made a great game so far, but implementing Dynamic gates would make total sense. Give the players what they need. Sorry if this sounds aggressive but I love designing good buildings, but can because of the lack of gate choices I am limited to having to build massive ridiculous barns to incorporate the behemoth gate.

please add single player mode .Not everyone enjoy playing multiplayer some prefer play alone explore alone taming and fighting alone .However,it is also a better way to experience the game since it is in the early access stage and discover bugs and play without lag or delay. I hope you read my suggestion because i really want to buy this game and support the game.

Grapeshot, We all came here to play a pirate MMO with survival and PVP. Not an ARK mod. You guys are doing hella good with the changes lately, but more balancing needs to come. And to be honest, im all for tools that help us farm instead of animals. For example a saw with two sides (two players use saw and get bonus wood), saw mills, and some type of carrying carts for horses. Instead of smacking trees with elephants. This would give you guys a chance to go a completely different direction with Tames. The sword fighting and pistol play/bows reminds of somewhat of Reign of Kings. I fell in love with this game for that. Currently swords and pistols are a novelty in PVP, not a staple. I challenge to find anyone who isnt entering a PVP ground battle at current day NOT using flame bears. Its everywhere, its broken, and its not fun. Just my two cents, from someone with over 700 hours into the game.

Actually, not. I was a Commodore 64 person, and I totally skipped consoles in my gaming development. Maybe your statement is true for milenials and post milenials. It was C64, Amiga, then PC. edit: lol, to this day I can not for the life of me, play anything decently using a controller, even for games designed primarily for it, like For Honor. I am doing much better with K+M than that devilish controller thing.

Your giant zerg will be able to overrun most islands by buying tokens . Get over it. There will be pvp on the seas. The fun kind with actual people. You want the zerg kind with your giant mob jumping one or two randoms here and there. Wow...fun. Most people find that boring as fuck anyways bro Buy a token drop your war.. zerg the smaller clans down..which you wil, with huge numbers. At least they will have a chance to fight now. Lots of clans wont be able to have numbers on for even the full 9 hours straight.. you'll still have a chance to win some battles yourself while people sleep. You can even pretend you are still a pvper.

Animal, crew and others weight are not updating anymore since patch. ALL animals have infinite stamina and loose no health. When animals encumbered they start rubberbanding.

Nah bro....you cant handle pvp run back to ark. Hide behind your zerg. Dont worry your enemies will goto sleep soon....you can win some big "fights". Hardcore mode bro.

Where did you get that idea, of free and unrestricted warfare in a sandbox environment? I never saw that promise made, can you point me to it? I bought this game, in the understanding that it is Early Access, that a lot can change over time, that they expect to release it 18 months from EA and that they will do continuous adjustments to the game. Maybe you bought another game then I did? What you want, is not PvP. What you want, is offline raiding. In your own words, from another topic: You are PVE player that likes to play on a PvP server, without actually fighting against real online players when attacking their structures.
  23. 1 point
I'd argue that you are wrong, this is the argument pve players make. There are pro's and con's to offline raidng. Yes sometimes people offline raid to exterminate an enemy quietly and quickly. Our alliance always setup primetime raids though. Not everyone is so honorable. Big alliance vs big clan is usually prime time events tho. If you have a small house, small clan, you are going to get offlined tho. This game isnt meant for small clans. Our clan combatted this by having all time zone people. So multicultural crew to avoid being offlined, whats hard about that?
  24. 1 point
I don't know if they intended it to go that far, but who knows? (Unless you have some information about it that I don't) It's kind of a leap from having a landlord in charge of an island to having mega-landlords policing other companies with a direct line to Grapeshot CS. I mentioned in another post that game companies really need to be careful with even employee GMs, and that volunteer GMs are incredibly tricky to set up right. The possibilities for favoritism and abuse are huge. And, you know, you may be the perfect kind of person for that, but you can't base a game on one guy. All those people need to be vetted and you've got to have strong policies in place for them. The bigger companies are being held up as the current "winners" of the game, and to have them policing the rest of the players ...you can imagine how people will feel about that. That application idea was put up sort of tongue-in-cheek. It IS very close to what's already in place, where players have to go around looking for already claimed spots and checking to see if the flag is set to build or no-build. It just adds a communication element to that. But people aren't happy with that idea in general, so it wasn't meant as a real solution to the claims problem. I still think people just need to be able to have a spot that they own, and they won't be happy until they get one. I keep trying to run my suggestions through a filter of "how would I feel about this as a big company? a small company? a solo? A new player starting on a full server? What would the experience be like?" , etc. I like the idea of apply like you put an app in. I really like that like I could work that into my idea post as a hey this area is an area I want somebody to build on. So that's the view from one of the bigger companies. I think the view is different for some of those other groups.
  25. 1 point
why are you insulting me dude? My answer isn't emotionaly. It's simply a fact. But with your offline random "argument" coming in of nowhere I see you have your fordefined stubborn opinion not beeing able to accept others. Think through your idea while watching what this game is about. It's not made for just sailing around, maybe you should play sid meier's pirates instead. great for star citizen, but if you haven't noticed this is another game. This is not a revamp of star citizen, maybe of ark tho. So your ideas should be to improve atlas and not to play star citizen. It's like I bring in the idea to make it like a new wow addon.. this is simply stupid, since people are not here to play these games..

4 plots of each plant you can grow in the game. took me a long time to find all those seeds in the beginning. over 100 hours of sailing, avoiding getting sunk, and exploring hostile islands in na pvp. was a lot of fun.. and tears... I raided many islands lookin for turnips seeds. and then the devs made it so you could tame rhynos with anything, which hurt my feelers.

Yeah the paints always look dull on buildings and ships not very vibrant the way paints should be.. at least give us the option to use more than one coat so we can at least get the actual color to show.......

My biggest complaint about the paints, too many colours look exactly the same.

I saw this thread and my first thought was “I wonder if anybody else is having trouble with forest green.” I swear I used it a while back and it worked, but maybe not. I guess I’m somewhat glad it’s not just me? That’s a beautiful looking harbour you’ve built. I was really disappointed to find that the light colours don’t show up on the ships. I was looking forward to a white ship with green trim. I haven’t gotten to the point of painting buildings, mostly because it took so long for us to get land to actually build on, so I can’t comment on that. I’m looking forward to them eventually improving the paints. I don’t think that’s a really big priority at the moment though.

You live in some kind of bubble where you thought in December ‘Hmm, I’m a solo player that’s gonna join 1 map with possible thousands of other people, there won’t be any large companies and I’m happy and free to play on my own’ didn’t you? I don’t mind it, it’s just that the upcoming system is less slavery than it is now so why all the tirades is beyond me. It is clear that the current system won’t work. I’m really into the new system as a starting point and I’m looking forward to balance it out in the future.

To be completely honest, when I read the game description that you all keep bringing up it never dawned on me they were referring to governing real people, I thought I would be able to hire npc’s to place on my land and be over them. In a sense you could do just that, in your claim you could have placed npc’s your stores, post office, working elevators at your motels. The infrastructure was there but with the other issues going on with the game few of those ideas ever got used. I know I had a npc manning a elevator on my barn, it was up in the air several stories and it worked good, I had plans to use another at a rock behind my base to man a lift system to the top for hang gliding. I had a ton of ideas that I kept wanting to experiment with, that’s probably why I never left base much, I was always reconfiguring my ideas and once the wipe was announced I personally no longer cared, then reading the Captains Log and patch notes and seeing them say this is the 1st wipe and there would be more if any major changes had to be made really made me care even less. Like so many others who lived in the desert region we all dealt with enough to deal with losing it all to a wipe. I didn’t know it could be so peaceful in other biomes, hell I honestly thought everyone was dealing with alphas like we were, snakes like we were, scorpions, crocs, lions and wolves like we were. I really understand why some people thought I was just complaining a lot because they really had no idea how bad it is. I’m really just dumbfounded that the biomes were that much different. You know I’ve praised the developers on such an awesome game and I’ve talked shit about them to because of choices they’ve made that I just couldn’t understand and may never understand. But with that said I still log in every single day and play for a few hours each evening and long periods of time on the weekends because I enjoy the game, I’m not saying it’s a polished product by no means but honestly it’s ok. Now with the new system coming out and it may or may not last, no one really knows. I’ll continue to play but if the system gets to a point that I feel it’s more of a pvp game then a pve, then my days of playing will be over. I don’t log in to bully someone or be bullied by someone, I have no desire to listen to someone’s mouth trolling me nor would I ever do that to someone. I know Dollie enjoys that aspect of the game because she has openly admitted to it, Jat on the other hand has as far as I know has not ever openly admitted to liking to troll people. So there is still hope as far as I’m concerned for the pve side of the game, there might not be but a twinkle but it’s there.
  37. 1 point
Renamed the thread in the interest of fairness due to the fact that both Jat and Dollie have popped into the thread. 3/4 -The vast majority of the people DESPISE the land claim changes on PvE. Being unable to protect the resources from griefers, being unable to protect yourself from griefers deciding that they don't want anyone building within a half islands worth of distance, ugly pillars and foundations everywhere, people griefing the hell out of ships and blocking harbors, plus blocking you from ever expanding your base by builkding as close as possible on either side of you - hell, they already did that with the claim overlaps as it was, and now EVERYWHERE is going to be like that? - A portion of the people hate the idea of the wipe, yeah, I know it's necessary due to land changes and because of the rampant dupeing going on, as well as to re-test the new settings. However, right now, a large portion of the apprehensions isn't just losing what they've worked for, its also fear that this means wipes on a semi-regular basis, so why bother doing everything, again - especially with the land system being so completely against what 95% of the players want, they are going to expect another wipe in a couple months to try again. -Playershops in settlements on PVP, but PVE just gets freeport vendors. Seriously? WTF? This idea has been floated multiple times on both here and reddit, and the general consensus was that PvE players liked it, but PvP players responses were 'Cool, but pointless, we don't trade and would just blow each others shops up anyway." -Abandoned ships still not getting mentioned as any solution found for them. Again, seriously? Yay! The wipe will take care of them, but what about all the ships from the people week 1 after the wipe, who decide to try it again, and realize that the new system is just Ark griefing all over again and quit after a week? (Yeah, the last two are somewhat minor compared to the first one, but, it is something that has time to be changed) I know that the devs enjoy the PvP side of things, and are in contact with a few of the megas over there, but there is another 50% (give or take) of people playing your game on PvE. Let me introduce you to them. (Say Hi, guys). We are the PvErs, we're generally the ones who prefer a low-key playstyle, without being griefed, and without being forced to worry about play schedules. That doesn't mean that we don't play the hell out of games that hold our interest, for 300, 500, 700, 1000 hours+ in 2 months...and recruit our friends/significant others to play those games with us. We build - you guys must love seeing our buildings, you post them on the community spotlight, but these changes, and the upkeep decay, are going to prevent that, because some douchecanoe can just block us from building that last wing of our 12th century japanese fishing port recreation, or our dock and pirate village, complete with shops that have signs, counters, everything but actual traders. We trade - Some of us joined the game to be pirates, and fight SotD all day (Thanks for the new types, btw). Some of us joined the game to be traders, wanting to travel the world for rare and exotic resources and tames, and bringing them back to our base that was designed and built to be a trading port, land to sell at a profit to our neighbors, or to be the one stop shop that sells high end goods to people from the surrounding areas...but we don't even get player shops on our lands, and with no claims, anyone can build a base anywhere, to get any resource, or just go to the closest freeport. We explore - Unfortunately, if you choose to be a builder, the upkeep costs are going to make you a farmer instead of an explorer. We socialize - We're on official because yes, we want the full map, but also because thats where the population is, or at least should be. But, if no one is coming by to trade, and if the overall population drops even lower due to the claim changes and people who get fed up with griefing, then there will be no one to socialize with. Grapeshot, the uproar on these boards isn't because we hate the game, we love it. We're also the ones who spend 300, 500, 1000+ hours playing on PvE. You guys have a dedicated, passionate playerbase that a lot of other devs would kill for. A player base that has been telling their friends about the game, but telling them to wait to get it, because it is so close to being so badass. A player base who wants you to listen to them, and what they've seen and wished for over their literally millions of hours of playtime over the last 2 months. You said a month or so ago, that you guys heard us. With all due respect, you may have heard, but you didn't listen. You HEARD the complaints over land claim, and decided to exercise the nuclear option and got rid of claims entirely, instead of actually LISTENING to people and finding a reasonable way to limit those claims. (even 10 per company with <25 members, 25 for companies of 25-100 members and 50 for companies with 100+ people would have more than enough land for people, and left a huge amount of open areas for new players - especially with the extra 200+ islands coming)

Part of the problem is the fact that the player base can't come to a consensus on what number of claims is reasonable, so everything is all over the board. In the past few weeks, I've seen everything from 1 claim per company, to 5 claims per person. Any cap would have to ensure that : A: There is enough room to build the necessities, and doesn't completely screw over the solo players, which eliminates 1 claim per company, and 1 claim per person. B: That there is enough land for everyone, which eliminates the highs like 5 claims per person, since a 250 person company would have 1250 claims again. The system should be based on company size, but not directly tied to the exact number of people in the company which both inhibits small/solo companies, as well as allowing large companies to control vast swaths of the map again. I know most of you have seen the math breakdowns that I've thrown in a couple other threads, (10 claims for companies under 25 members, 25 claims for companies 25-100 members, 50 claims for companies over 100 members) and I've gone over it a few times, and it still makes the most sense, and leaves the most land free for new players. With a bit more tweaking like 10 claims for under 50 members, 25 claims for companies 50-125 members, and 50 claims for companies 125-250 members, so that every breakdown has a max of 5 company members per claim...or halving the original numbers to 5/15/25 claims per company size, the system could stay balanced, not overly penalize any company size, and leave huge amounts of land open for anyone who wants it, without needing to rent. But, all this is academic, as it seems that Grapeshot is unwilling, or unable, to implement something along these lines. I have no idea which is the case, I just know that the past few weeks of the cycle of Player Complaints / Grapeshot Acknowledgement of Complaint / Player Excitement that Our Voices Are Being Heard / Captains Log with Complete Opposite of Expectations of Fix / Cycle Starts Again...has damn near completely killed any enthusiasm that I, and judging from the dwindling number of different people posting, and the overall tone of the posts, a whole lot of other people had for Atlas.

I personally don't think that land claiming and taxing other players on pve is what the community wants or needs. We all just want to be able to build and use resources with out pillars/ foundations being needed/used to ensure so. People that want land that doesn't get any are going to complain all over again and the ones that get it are going to pay for there up keep with other peoples gathering. Give us x number of resource boxes with a radius per server and as long as its full we have no decay each person[company] can distribute them on all one island for a large base or multiple on different islands on the server for small bases.

The claim system is a joke, just make it all lawless one flag per company and a set area radius to build in with a one week decay timer. Simple as that.

Hi, Devs. I know you're out there. I can hear you breathing. MeatSammich is right, and has been the most right of anybody representing the pve reaction to these changes since the announcement. There is also an excellent post from one of the "top companies", Darksea Dawgs https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/51432-please-re-think-the-flag-system-on-pve/&page=2&tab=comments#comment-286113 It would be really nice if you would listen to your playerbase before making this rotten change and forcing us all to have to do the work to prove to you that it's a mistake. If you consider these changes logically, you should be able to reach the same conclusions we did. We've persisted through the bugs, the network issues, the griefers, and the hackers. I don't think it's too much to ask that you don't make us all waste a lot of time going out to the test server and showing you what a bad decision this would be. There are only so many hoops people are willing to jump through to help you make decisions which would have seemed reasonable and sensible in the first place. If you have information that we don't that indicates these changes are the better way to go, you might do us the favor of explaining that. If not, here's a recap of what you've just told us: You've said you were unhappy with claims, so we are removing them. You don't get to own anything anymore, and everyone can build wherever they want, even if it blocks your resources, your doors, and your ships. We're also adding decay and upkeep so now you have to collect mats and repair everything frequently. Happy yet? But wait, there's more. In order to do this, we're going to wipe the servers. We're also adding a lot of new content, and with our stated goal of helping solos and small companies, we've gated that behind the kraken. But here's a hat. Isn't that great? You're probably not very happy seeing everyone raging on the forums about these changes. But you know what's worse than seeing everyone raging on the forums? Not having anyone on the forums at all.

Spot on. It's boiling my piss. I'm quite happy playing solo, but I have a good relationship with the other groups on our island-we all look out for each other. My base is small-fits within 2 flags because I'm not greedy. I've spent +400 hours, despite having a full time job and wife building up my base and adding a harbour to prevent my ships being sunk again through poorly thought out and exploitable mechanics. I've travelled the seas looking for resources to build because of the change to structure costs , but still find myself and my tames standing on the ground because we've fallen through the cliff platform. That or lose pets to aggro that manage to glitch into my base. I've spent hours trying to get past stacked monsters in order to hit the fountain upon reaching level 90+. Twice. I've had to go and replace NPCs that bounced off into the sunset when unseating and had to try to remember where exactly I was 15 mins ago prior to the unannounced rollback following a server crash to find the bear I was sitting on. I've been through alpha spams, SOTD spams, and been camped by packs of wolves. Are they saying that this unannounced and unwanted wipe is going to solve all of the other problems we're experiencing here? Are they fuck.

Again you did not even bother to listen to the reasoning behind why they have to wipe, they will wipe them anyways at the end of the early access like they did in Ark...land claiming is currently a goat fuck fest because of greedy ass players Best flag ever image for the quitters No you should of read that thing called the FAQ that everyone just clicks on accept

Yes, on PvE, all the people that quit because they had to stay in Lawless will come back now. And stay in Lawless.

I think the wipe is a good thing, they had to do it. And I here from a lot of people who has quit because they never found a place to build or had to stay in lawless forever and a lot of that people will come back after the wipe. So maybe some will leave now, but more will come back and give it another try. However, I will be there after the wipe

Would be cool if Devs tell us what they're currently working on, cause tbh it's like they tryin to work on many things at the same time like server stability, lags, and random fixes/balances and having mediocre results. Prolly is better to focus on 1 thing instead of 230.

Different looking gates would be nice on the eyes also
