  1. EU PVE.. same.. can't log in. Validating files says they are fine.
  2. The 10-day decay timer is a boon for routine cleanup. We don't own our island, but if ew see structures we can demolish, we do. Log in every 9.9 days and your stuff is fully protected. Anyone in their Company. And just get within eyesight of your stuff. Presto... it's refreshed. We've taken out buildings, camping spots and yes, 4 or 5 shipyards. If you want to settle here, we welcome you. But play occasionally. Fortunately, we only have a small amount of foundation spamming. And it's only to reserve a small stretch of beach to grow into. I get that. But they are active. And they slowly add stuff. It's nice to see. So far.. and we've been lucky... No one has actually blocked anything. Only one base is a bit tedious since you have to swim a bit to get around their lighthouse, but that's not bad.
  3. We're not a big company... we had our friends who play on private servers join us so we could claim a 57-point island. We farmed gold. Got the island. But with only 5 really active members and only 2 who actually hunt whales or farm maps, we could not keep up the pace we needed to maintain the gold payments. So the island went back to unclaimed. Another company got the island. So far, they have maintained it (1 week). We'll see how they do with the gold grind. The main point I'm trying to make is that it takes steady gold grinding just to maintain the claim. This is far and above what it takes to maintain crews now that they've made crews cheaper. Since the tax is not a tenant penalty, we don't feel it. So all we have to do to maintain our buildings is log in within 10 days and get within visual eyesight of the structures to refresh the timers. If your floors/walls say 10:00:00:00 then you're refreshed. One more point to make.. When people don't log in for 10 days, just take our their floors and the building is cleaned up. It's not hard to "police" the island and clean out inactive structures. Last point… With the new spacing patch for water structures, the beaches will NOT be wall-to-wall shipyards. I love it. This promotes a bit of spacing to be able to build a community in your area of influence. We control approximately a kilometer of beachfront. This is on an island that has probably 200 kilometers of beaches. Plenty of room and probably 70% of the beaches are still free. So far, we are enjoying just being a tenant. This was a surprise for us.
  4. Simple and quite elegant. Only one question... How can I build a ship if I have an inland claim?
  5. I don't mind paying taxes, really. As a LandOwner, in the current system, we had a bank and a good sized area to harvest, so we paid few taxes. But again.. taxes are not my primary cause for concern. My main cause for concern is the fact that our LandOwner, at any time, COULD destroy any or all of the buildings we spent time constructing. We have ZERO say in the matter. Why in the world would I spend several HUNDRED hours building something... that isn't mine? If someone has the authority and power to destroy it... It is not mine. I understand that people tend to be good folk. That doesn't preclude the possibility of our "Favorite" Landowner losing his claim to a Not-so-favorite... Nothing we build will be considered our own. The only solution is going to become one of those few hundred lucky LandOwners… Which we shall become. Then our Company will have the authority and right to Keep What We Make. It's going to be a brown-nosing, backstabbing, neighbor ratting out neighbor for a favor type of system in some cases. Yes... this is worst-case... But worst case tends to show up more often than we'd like. Anyway... we'll work with whatever system they release. Good luck to everyone willing to give it a go.
  6. When my Razortooth is carrying 0 weight, his weight registers as a NEGATIVE 0.0. (-0.0). When this is doing is making it unable to move normally. It follows you as if it were extremely overloaded. (No saddle. -0.0 weight.) When I drop 2 arrows onto it, with a weight of 0.1, it behaves normally. Please check out this math floating point error. Thanks
  7. Love the screenshots! So as long as you have a bit of SHORELINE, people can manage. Enough space for the items you listed. I think the Devs could actually Locate Fixed Claim flag locations that will enable this type of concept. Place a flag and the plot is yours. I also do not see a need for a 10 minute timer. Simply place a hard, LOW limit on how many flags a person or company can place. 1 per person. 20 (max) for large companies. If each claim has 150 yards of shoreline, you can build an adequate base. If a shoreline is rugged, then make it a bit large so that structures could be built. I love building on insane slopes. As long as the claim can host 2 shipyards and room to dock 2-3 ships. Then it is sufficient. If a company grows, then find a place on another island. Island-hop. This would allow the interior, resource-rich areas remain available for people to use.
  8. IRL, I am renting a house. I cannot add shelves in my garage. I cannot add a vegetable garden. I cannot paint the house purple (Assuming I would want to)... I am a tenant... My Landlord must be consulted about every mod I think of. And he gets the final say. Yet... I change out lightbulbs. I change air filters I mow his lawn. I clean his gutters. I keep his place orderly... Being a tenant on an island, where the Landlord can remove (destroy) a taming pen I place because it doesn't suit him... OK... vent/off... Shorelines are the valuable property. Anywhere a shipyard can be placed. As many have said.. this game is about sailing. But you need a home port. And you want it to be YOURS. So... Look at shorelines. Evaluate where shipyards can be placed and make these Shorelines claimable... Make each section about 150 yards long... enough for a small and large shipyard plus room for 2-3 ships to port. Limit claims to 1 per person or 3 per company per island. 450 yards of shoreline (3 claims) is enough room to build a monster castle and port. Limit the number a company can own to something like 20 total... max of 3 for a single island. This will give a large company opportunities to set up trade routes on several different islands. Also, by limiting the number per island, it'll help prevent a company from consuming an entire island. I, personally, do not like the idea of a person or company controlling an entire island, unless it is a tiny islet with 20 palm trees. Allow building within 150 yards of the shoreline. This is your place. This will allow the interiors of islands to remain free and harvestable. And it creates several Thousand claim locations.
  9. Long time gamer here in a small group of other long time gamers... Remember Ultima Online? Day 1? First... I'm here long term, come what may. Too many great ideas with this game concept. Ok.. having said that... Land option to consider... One thing our company attempts to do is preserve as much forest and resource areas as we can. Don't build too close. Don't wall them off. Don't overtax (we are at 10%). With the new flagless land ownership system, I'm concerned we will wind up with a virtual gridlock of buildings with no ability to protect a bit of forest. The idea I have will allow a person or company to protect a bit of resource land area. 1) There's a keep-out radius from your building where no one can build inside it. Make this radius fairly good sized. Even perhaps as large as our current claim flags. 2) There's a resource respawn radius. Make this SIGNIFICANTLY Smaller than the keep-out radius. Let trees respawn CLOSE to your buildings. These two radii already exist. Just take a look at their relative size and adjust to allow a player or company to have a bit of greenery (and iron and gems, etc). Another thought. Make UNATTACHED pillars and foundations COUNT as Buildings. Set the upkeep so that it increases EXPONENTIALLY. So until you have, say 10 buildings, the upkeep might be high, but is manageable. If you place 20 pillars... HIT EM with the same upkeep cost as any building. Let Pillars cost as much as a BARN to upkeep. The exponential aspect will keep things manageable for small companies with, say a dozen buildings. But after, say 20... the costs go up in an exponential curve. IMO, the only way I can foresee the prevention of pillar forests is to do something along these lines.
  10. For about the 5th time, I log in to find myself dead in the middle of the ocean. I port back to our base and there's wild animals inside my Stone Tower. Just a few minutes ago, I log in... fortunately, I logged out on the 2nd floor.. There were 3 wolves and a lion downstairs. They had eaten my tannery and loom. Why can't we prevent animals from either glitching through stone walls or spawning inside? If this is a player hack... don't you think someone would be looking into it???? It's been happening for over a week.
  11. Pulling and replacing your flag SEEMS to be a great idea.. However, if your claim has the least bit of overlap with someone else... Then your neighbor will thank you for your donation. You will NOT be able to replace your flag. We lost one claim this way. Our other claims are similar... we have 2 more. And there's 10 of us. I figure with the flag glitching tactics, we will lost both soon. The guy actually posted a message on the flag of a perfectly nice claim that reads.. Move now or lose your land. And he can take it.
  12. We had over 20 new folks attempting to jump our claim. Our claim is overlapping other claims, but it I active, so the timer would not start. No problem, right? . . Wrong. I found a guy who had jumped my fence and glitched his flag over ours. No clue how he is doing this, but he and others in his guild are stealing active claims, regarless of activity. Just look for the large guilds and track their tactics. Doesn't take a rocket scientist. I told him after talking him out of placing his flag, that between he and I, I know he can take my claim Any Time He Wants To. Good luck people. Hacks are aplenty.
