Ah, you mean those nice cushy little tropical islands where they give you free beach towels, sunglasses and umbrella's in your mai tai? The ones that you expect when you're born with a silver spoon up your ass? Those islands with a hundred shipyards packed around them to the point you can't land a ship? Those islands with people jammed so tight together than nothing spawns and you can't piss out your back door without pissing on someone's house? You mean those islands that are so crowded that you have to tolerate 10 minutes of lag every time you sail into your port because of all the crap scattered along the beach? Yea, I'm sure you can find one if you look hard enough. Yea, you won't wanna live in the tundra. It's not nearly that luxurious. P.S. Grab me a robe from the hotel. mkay?

This an issue we're working on and trying to resolve and it extends beyond tames with players also falling through the structures. Sadly it's more of a complex and difficult one to get the bottom of, but it is certainly one of our higher priority issues.

We've done some recent optimisations that should help 4k, but overall the game is pretty demanding and we need to make improvements across the board. We've got some things in testing at the moment thanks to some work directly with NVidia which should result in better GPU and CPU perf, hopefully, we'll be able to roll that out this month.

Player Shops NPC Crewmates Cosmetics New Players Meet/Hire Player Crewmates Resources All of the above are reasons why the Accelerated Ship Decay should be delayed in Freeport Regions. From the moment you enter a Freeport Region, your ship begins to take a percent amount of damage every 10 or so minutes. My Brig was at full HP on all planks before entering the Freeport Region. By the time I made it to the Freeport island and anchored, my Brig had taken 400 points of damage on ALL hull planks. If players are going to be going to Freeport regions more often to buy and sell items and Player Shops, buy cosmetics for their ships, hire crew members and meet new players... they should not be forced to leave the Freeport region ASAP. The accelerated ship decay should START roughly an hour or two after entering a Freeport Region. That being said... I understand why there is Accelerated Ship Decay in Freeport Regions. This is to reduce lag and reduce clutter in these Freeport Regions. Players should not be clogging the place up with ships and campfires and bodies lying around everywhere, like we saw on Day 1. But if we are to be visiting Freeport towns more often because of the new content coming, like player shops... we should not be immediately penalized for entering these regions. Alternatively... @Argh! Pay mooring fees to anchor in a Freeport... an hourly (gold) rate allows for (an amount of time) in the Freeport. If you need to stay overnight due to unforeseen circumstance you will not return to a scuttled ship as long as you either prepay the "Dock Purser" or have the funds in a resource box on your ship -- Also limit this to any ship above the Ramshackle Sloop...

Cannons are incredibly light at the moment, I can fit 20+ large cannons I want on a schooner and still have plenty of weight for ammo and being stupid fast/nimble. I would love to see the current cannons made extremely heavy x3-4 the weight - make them blockade or true siege weapons and add lighter cannons for quick pursuit/merchant defense/harass ship setups. this would actually force players to think their setups rather than just make gun bricks. weight distribution management on ships would also be an amazing feature, where having too much uneven weight would make you turn poorly in a specific direction or even sink you even if you’re not over your global cargo limit.

Can there not be a claim timer implemented on these things? Well at least one that works. I don't want to take the ship for nothing, I just want to be able to claim and demolish to get them out of the way. I don't even need to get the resources from them. I understand in PvP you can claim them by using a claim flag but it is different in PvE.... We need to be able to do something to get rid of them and 3 weeks is too long for them to go poof! If people aren't playing for 3 weeks then they probably aren't that serious.

It's comical that the OP never complained about getting raided, only that he wants others to have to work for it instead of the info being handed to them like some sort of digital welfare. Then we get all of these "intellectuals" who clearly lacked the ability to understand the original post and begin bashing him for "whining about getting raided". I agree with the OP, I'm tired of using the steam name 123 so that I am on equal terms with my enemies, I'm tired of sorting through the sea of 123's in my friends list trying to figure out who is who. This isn't going to change, and I finished complaining about it long ago, but that doesn't change the fact that it sucks and that someone tracking you like this IRL would be grounds for quite the lawsuit. In short, the OP is correct, use the Steam name "123" or realize people will track you on Battlemetrics.

In a PvE server and in theory, there should be no player vs player actions. It requires a player action to kite the SotD and to make them aim their cannons hence .... There are PvP servers for this kind of play.

We've build limits in place for 2 reasons. The primary reason is that boats are considered dynamic platforms and each structure piece that gets added to one, the more the boat costs the server from a performance point of view. Dynamic structures are pretty expensive in general, which is why we have to introduce limitations. The limitations should vary across the different boats. Galleons allow more structures than Sloops. The second reason is for balance, we do have to limit the amount folks can build on certain boats so they don't get too ridiculous. It's by design that you cannot build as freely on a Galleon compared to a Sloop. If you're suggesting that the limits are actually the same across the boats, we'll look into it. It could be the case that the Brig and Gall are quite similar, but there should be a pretty significant/noticeable difference between the Gall and the Sloop.

I've been fairly lucky to have a couple of land claims in one of the desert regions. Most of the lawless regions near me seem OK. There is some spam but generally there is space to build. So I was always a bit clueless when reading reports about foundation spam in lawless. Then I came across 'Shrewdale Island' in i9 NA PVE. Holy balls. Someone has covered every square inch of the island in foundations denying building possibilities to anyone else. The only legit things built on the island that I could see are a couple generic box buildings. Obviously this is way over the top. The developers could implement an algorithm that discourages foundations spam. You should probably only be allowed a certain limit of foundations that aren't attached to a larger structure. -Damn

The Galleon is now even harder to customize. They need to have different build limits based on ship size. There is NO reason a sloop needs a 250 build limit, but a 250 build limit is not enough for a Galleon. Planks, masts, decks and cannons count against this build limit. This is ridiculous.

So recently my company came across another company that we raided far far away from our lands. This company then almost immediately counter raided us with no knowledge of where we lived. Before you ask no they didn't use any skill like hiding on our ship or trailing us back or asking around where we live. They openly admitted to using battlemetrics. What is battlemetrics you ask well its a website that can track your movements in Atlas and many other games. You can even pay for a premium account which allows you advanced player tracking. This allows them to put alerts on you and when you move to another zone they get instant updates. Now I personally think this is super scummy and borderline cheating but apparently it is allowed at the moment. That being said I understand using every advantage to accomplish the mission but this is something that I think is complete trash and will ruin the game. I have spent hours tracking down my opponents the legit way. So after this happened I tried to find any posts on how to block battlemetrics and really came up empty handed. So I researched how the website works and found a successful way of blocking the tracking software and wanted to share it with others who might have suffered the same issues. The way battlementrics works is that it tracks you based off of your steam name. No it does not track your steam ID unless you are on what is called an Rcon server which official is not. So how do we fix this issues? 1) Change your steam name to 123 (The more people that do this the more 123 profiles show up to confuse the person looking for you.) 2) Clear your past aliases in steam do this by clicking the arrow next to previous aliases and click clear all under view profile. (This makes it so they cant see who you used to be.) 3) Change your profile to completely private under the privacy tab (This makes every 123 steam profile uniform so again harder to pin point which 123 you are.) 4) Change your steam avatar to the ? photo that is default with steam. (This makes it so they cant see you under the player list and recognize you by your avatar.) If you follow these steps battlemetrics can never find you and you will have once again become invisible unless the players tracking you actually want to track you the legit way.

On actual sailing ships, the rigging is climbable. This would also save weight on the ships. Thanks for listening.

How can you see the stats of a tame that is on your shoulder, like you can with mounts you are riding? For example, it would be nice to know how much oxygen my seagull on my shoulder has left while we are diving.

Again, alphas. While treasure mapping, an alpha lion (on an island I've seen NO cats on, mind you) snatched me off of my bear and near instant killed me. while I was spawning back and running over, it killed both my combat bear and my cargo bear I had out for adventuring. Again, not against high difficulty or fun challenges. Where though is the challenge in being killed by an alpha predator that was unavoidable (it quite literally appeared from nowhere and then disappeared after the death pile, it was nowhere to be found). I was able to recover the gold, gear and blueprints from the day and ultimately was only out 2 bears. But 2 bears! 2 bears should have been able to at least hold their own against a cat, alpha or not. One was 65, half points put into melee half into health (had about 800 hp?) and the other was hp and carry weight. But still, bears! It's a little absurd at this point, certain death everywhere. I'm fine with myself dying repeatedly, but it's not like tames just fall out of the sky it's more like they just raise themselves up to heaven. /endrant

Some sort of card table that could sit 6-8 NPCs, you feed it ale and it maintains NPCs when they are not needed. Instead of paying them gold, you feed them ale while they play cards and it keeps NPC cost idle during active company periods (manually put them on table). Would also be cool if NPCs had a reduced gold consumption if you put refined foods in the larder (5% redux for level 1 foods, 7.5% per level 2... up to a max of like 50%

So, where is my promised "journey of your lifetime" ? *smile* I wouldnt rate the game as bad as it is on steam, but at max 60%. Nothing rly new here, nothing innovative, a lot of not well thought mechanics, a lot of loveless mechanics, a lot of extreme EA stuff that could have been avoided, if they didnt rushed it out so early, a lot of cheating, griefing, exploiting, cuz people already knew to do so, cuz of Ark (and devs learned so much from the past? *smile*), also a lot things that dont make any sense at all. I liked when they told me in the patch notes, that patch X improved my performance by 8% and in reality i never felt a difference since day 1. Lawless still lag af when 30 people are around (and the huge number of buildings) - 30...mmo...?...!. My FPS are the same since day one and sometimes i think, that little of balancing they did in 7 weeks could have done by one guy just tweaking a few variables. They dont communicate with us here in these forums, beside of Jat and its also not that very often (yesterday he might be drunk and in a good mood *smile*), but he is a salesman and i dont trust those very much, when they tell, or promise things they will have a look at, or for future plans. *waves* They lied to me. Its not a journey of my lifetime. Its more like "looking a lifetime for a journey". I think, i am gonna wait for PixAtlas to throw more money at them - ofc not *hrrr* Now let the flamewar begin, i am out *smile*

Like i said before, the damage has already been done. Its rapid repair right now. You cheat, you destroy the game, you leave key bugs, exploits in and for all sake leaving the admin menu in official and the population will go cya... Spending 60 hrs a week to have all your stuff popcorn within 10 minutes is totally game breaking for some. Happens once, you cry, happens twice, you slow down playing, happens 3 times you usually slap yourself in the face and move on to a different game. These young people these days, developing a game they have no idea what is right and wrong... Just throw it out there.... and expect the public to hash it up. I love the game really i do, but no way will i ever play official or maybe another game from these guys. Its just a hacker crapfest.

Please provide a sort option that allows one to sort by type, so all resource groups are sorted together. When you have 3 to 5 different types of keratinoid or stone or thatch, it would be nice to sort it together instead of trying to eyeball what you are looking for among all the other items.
  23. 2 points
It's not finding them that's annoying, it's having the same type of materials scattered at random in the Inventory. Grouping hide, thatch, flint, etc., together in the Inventory would be so much neater.

Hope it comes in handy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M-1_faHIrspxrmzfIDDlX7lEcGJE8FiO6MtTHQOu9ks/edit?usp=sharing Please be aware it's still a WIP and I'm still testing a few commands but, most of them work and for some of the ones that don't, there's a generic code to get the base resource.

With the extremely limited metal spawns on some island and no metal rocks on alot of islands - wouldnt it be benefical to add Rhinos gettting small amounts of metal from normal Rocks ? Like Ark and the Anky. Only getting metal from dedicated metal rocks seems extremely silly - due to their limited numbers Thanks for your consideration

Do you guys have any idea how easy it is to outrun SoTD? The only time I wasn't able to was when my ship was almost overweight. Even with wind against it is possible, depending on ship weight. And if your ship weight is way too much, you can just sail with the wind. Render distance is simply your own settings. It's pretty obvious that someone that has it on high sees it quicker than one having it on low. That the SoTD should be a little bit more dependant on wind, I agree with. But people that can't outrun them or are surprised by them... No words. Not to forget that whilst on sea, your system doesn't eat much, so you can easily set the render distance on high when on sees, if you don't have that much of a good rig.

you gotta realize More players bought this game for pvp and the Freedom to deside how they want to do it its the people who cant handle loss or figure out ways to deter the enemy or stop them that are gonna ruin this game it is 100% possible to make your base annoying enough or defended well enough that the enemy wont attack knowing they will exspend and risk loosing to much the game gives you almost every took you could think of to use in an attempt to fortifie youself now use it you can take away everything that makes the game risky and rewarding then itll just be lame and just another dull survival game where pvp just isn't worth the time like cry about bugs like f.o.y disappearing or something usefull already like your lucky your not in a cage being forced until im nice enough to let you go like realy most people bought this game knowing full well that everything they did would have to be done 1000000 times over and maybe more .. but when you actualy do take part in high risk winner takes all pvp win or loos the memory and rush from that moment and how the events play out you will always remember someone already said it but ill say it again its our game we make the story where driving this persistant key word there persistant world you cant just hide your house or car in real life at any time someone could steal your car or mug you Deterents stop them from doing soo don't be panzys

This. Yes you only NEED ladders on one mast but you may WANT them on all masts for the look, convenience, to allow multiple players to be up each mast. This is the issue if you limit building (not just structure limits either the crew limits are pretty tight as well on the larger ships if you want them fully manned) to the bare minimum necessary for PVP and protection you kill creativity and drive away people like myself who have zero interest in PVP but love to craft and build. My prefered schooner design has a whole bunch of design choices that do nothing for it as a ship but make it feel like a home. I have dividing walls in the lower deck solely so I can have a store room, kitchen, living room and crew room plus the captains cabin on the upper deck. I have tables and chairs down there for the NPC crew, I made and put on the same crew cloth, hide and fur armours for different climates simply because it adds to the realism of the game for me. I would have given them all swords not for melee but simply so they had a cutlas hanging off their belt (only you can't have one on them that way its either equipped or invisible). All this stuff would be counting against structure limits, crew weight, etc but I do it because to me it makes the game a little more real and a little more fun. I'm part of a company where we have two galleons and outside of group events (like raiding a golden age ruin) I almost never go near them because to me they have no life and no interest. I can't put rope ladders on all 6 sails (Structure limit), I can't make a dining area and crew cabin (structure limits and weight). They are great at killing ships of the damned and may be ok in PVP (we haven't really had ship to ship combat yet) but that doesn't interest me and building wise we've got parts of the decks that are just unfinished and never will be finished because for PVP other priorities take up the structure limit and so they simply aren't a part of the game i'm interested in bothering with. Increase the structure limit and on the interior decks I can have fun making the galleons look more like a real functioning ship rather than a platform to transport 60 odd NPC's with canons between fights.

Sometimes I use my chin with the analog while holding it with my hand and the other hand and eyeballs are looking at the keyboard trying to find the shift A or D buttons. Works but I sometimes drop the controller. Then when I see a passing ship while changing sails and I want to push to talk things get really interesting..........

I have tried, really. I have encouraged friends to stick with the game, I have discouraged people who I thought were overly hard on the game, but there is only so much you can do. Currently there are less than 2 thousand people watching this game on Twitch, this is a far cry from the early days before you blew it. 2x weekends are not getting people back to the game, the only way I can see that you might get people back is a complete wipe and a fresh start. You stop hackers yeah, but you don't stop the advantage they gained prior to spawning in a plane or whatever else. You still don't comment on the possibility of OCE servers despite the numbers saying it would work. That would get a hell of a lot of people back into/and into the game. For now, I idly sit and wait for the game to completely die on me, or for you to wake up and start making smarter choices.

There is such a disbalance between siege weaponry (cannons) bps damage increase vs defensive structure bps (planks, walls...) that it litterally makes no sense to make legendary/mythical structures. A 150-160% cannon (journeyman cannon) and the highest structure i’ve see was something like 160% wood wall, planks at like 140% (legendary/mythical), even with upgraded planks, someone could still easily take it would with a broadside if they have concentrated firepower. I wouldnt mind seeing journeyman+ structures actually being worth building where instead of 4 large cannonballs taking you down it would take 12+ It would actually make it more expensive for raiders to just swing by and raid someone’s base, they would actually need to think their strategies through and invest time and resources in attacking bases.

can we at least get some type of response or something for mods or admins like come on you got a bunch of loyal players and fans here that your literally screwing out of there hard work and time why would anyone continueally play this game if you cant at the very least acknowledge this problem in my opinion its problem one of the most series bugs you have/ perma death is fine ageing is fine but if your gonna introduce a way to stop or combat that atleast make sure it works aswell the foy should have been the last way of fighting old age implemented but what ever.. just make sure it works no one wants to try the foy multiple times in the same day right after they already got it let alone sail around the fcking ocean again for hours just for discoverys…….. like not cool to just have all that work gone in seconds for no reason without any response from the people who are responsible for fixing the game I now completely understand all the negative reviews on steam …. hell I took vacation time off from work to play this weekend and this completely ruined and wasted my time !!! big thumbs up

ABSOLUTELY AGREE 100%. The number of time we have come on, after a long days work IRL. Only to find every ship burned to the ground, by some moron with a handful of oil jars and fire arrows, is ridiculous. Off line ship raiding is stupid. I agree that losing your ship in a cat and mouse game of chess on the high seas is fun. But it has gotten so bad that we started with over 40 members when this game first came out, and we have just had to merge with another tribe because our company is now only 6 members, and its all due to people getting fed up with offline raiders. I understand offline raiding of bases happens, but bases are tougher and can be better protected. But ships in harbour are as weak as paper when at Anchor. Sort it out devs or you will lose the rest of the players, that so want to play this game. THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY NUMBER ONE.
  43. 1 point
yeah im waiting for them to either wipe the ships no one been using for 2-3 weeks , or the decay must speed up the longer they are not used, sailed to a place yesterday and i could barely get anchored around a huge island , so go explore at times is more about finding a spot for your ship

Placing water barrels on ships is currently not very feasible. They weigh far too much when full for the amount of water they hold. Take water skins for instance. They hold 100 water, enough to fill your water level to full, the equivalent of 1 litre. Water jugs weigh just 5 and hold the equivalent of 2 litres. Water barrels weigh 500 full and hold the equivalent of 5 litres. It just doesn't make sense. Either water barrels need to hold a lot more water or the way water barrels measure the weight of water needs to change. Just a quality of life suggestion as I think that this might have been overlooked. My company for one would like to utilize the aesthetic of water barrels on a ship, rather than the old "blue chest filled with water jugs".

hes actually 100% right that's why you can make alliances and ive met plenty of companys in game that will let anyone from 1 guy to small companys build near them and also protect them if the favors returned you people crying about it literaly just arnt creative or skilled enough to adapt or play the situation ? if what your doing doesn't work then find a better way of doing it or people who can help you your probly all the same people who loose a boat and cant staaaand it and no if you raid someones base and there offline its not pve I hope to god a fucking living person would be capable of using there brain to design there base with the thought other players are comeing for there stuff in mind its very possible to make the environment into a weopon like apply yourself I work a 50 hour work week sometimes more owell I still play and loose and win I personally would prefer the action of a live fight and the cazy intense scenarios that can unfold but at the same time survival is the name you have what I want your lucky people do find your sleeping body and lock you in a cage and force you to watch me steal and smash the rest of your stuff when you log on …. you do realize what type of game your playing correct everyone ? like if you fell asleep in Africa in the middle of a street your probly not gonna wake up with to much of value on you … ever one is suffering losses in the game and doing anything they can to prevent or recover from it theres people out there living on lawless dealing with greifing that a player who owns a claim couldn't begin to understand yet there still thriveing and stil standing... you need to have patient and be willing to learn and improve your skill aswell as adapt what your do in this game ya it may be simmiliar to ark but this is a much larger persistent world hell hell I should be able to hop on your boat and drive it away if im capable of doing so..without risk and reward you have nothing and with how this game is potentially capable of players outright establishing nations you need the abilitys to enforce your law so to some individuals this may seem unfair but life isn't fair and Atlas is a Survival pvp game So you do your best to survive and if you don't be lucky you can try again because trust me when you do see and witness crazy events that can never be replicated it way more then worth it sometimes you can lose it all in the most horrible way but at the time how the actions played out youll look back and be like daaam I was there I was part of that we did that … or ya that happened we lost it all guys.. what do we do now its sad I have high high hopes for this games pvp if only the game was more stable and had a much larger player base the things you would see and hear about would be crazy companys will be traveling to other islands to watch people be executed by the local ruleing government(megatribe) or who knows what random ingame world events might shake up this persistent world and change things forever who knows but don't be a baby dry thought eyes and just keep reading the story that is your pathfinders life guys and bounty system might help a lot actualy remembers its technicly possible to hold players captive you never know what large groups of skilled players might do for ingame recognition and rewards it could be the deterent some of you are looking for lol

Still no removal of the age mechanic, the main reason people dropped out of the game in a nosedive to begin with. Still regarding "top companies" as "top" despite them only having the most land claims, and not actually being the best. Guys. .How out of touch are you?.. How many polls on the age mechanic do we need until you remove it?. . You've pissed off : -people who care about cosmetics -people who want to keep playing their character -people who don't have time to deal with this stupid FOY quest.
