    Unless said persistent universe MMO was in a previously stated 2 year Early Access period and not a released game, at which point any savy player would know that wipes are always possible and that ultimately there would at a minimum be a wipe prior to launch.

    I shared this idea with a friend and she encouraged me to post here. The idea would create an enjoyable game for all players, not just mega companies and people with excessive amounts of time. so here goes my idea... Lets be honest, the old land claim system was obnoxious, and the new system really only is useful to large very active companies. All and all, neither system really works for anyone in between. Segment out islands into sections, you can own those sections by claiming them. This is a bit of a combination of both systems without the randomly placed flags or a large company owning an entire island. How it would work. Keep the claim point system like we currently have. Companies have x amount of points, and islands are worth a grand total of y points. The "grid" on the island would be worth a part of the island. So for example, if an island is worth 60 points and is broken into a 2x2 grid. if you math that out, 60 / 4 = 15 per section. The grids would be made so that all grids have access to the ocean. So grids for a large island would be 2x2, 2x3, 2x4, etc. For islands that are broken out into multiple mini islands, you could value each island at a certain amount of points since they would essentially all have ocean access. A company (large or small) could easily own a section of that island as their own. Obviously difference sections of the island would have various strategic resources (lets think about the Civ games here). This would spur trading between companies both on and off of the islands. From a PvE standpoint it would allow all players, in all sized companies to OWN a part of the game. This would create a dynamic economy, trade routes, land trading, and a player community built around trade. On the PvP standpoint it would be insane amounts of fun. As a company out for war, you would have to siege the island from sea, claim a segment of the island to set up a base, and then fight in from there. It would literally turn islands, especially larger ones, into a legit battle royale fight for land. This would encourage smaller companies to create alliances to hold large islands, make diplomacy worth something, and make war worthwhile. This makes me think back to the Eve online days of taking over a system and the insane battles that would ensue.

    Ahoy Pathfinders! One week has passed since the launch of our Mega-update 1.5 (ATLAS v100), and what a crazy voyage it’s been! As mentioned in our previous announcement, this update has been one of the largest we’ve ever worked on as a team and we are incredibly proud of the results. The last few days have shown us that these changes have been a step in the right direction to help fulfill ATLAS’ ambition of becoming the ultimate fantasy pirate adventure. Since the patch launched, we have been continuing to iterate daily based on your feedback and reports, and have plenty more being cooked up as we speak. This log will talk about some of the new content you’ll get to experience in our upcoming mega update, our Easter Event, as well as the future of Empires. update on empires and na pve After careful consideration, we have decided that we will be shutting down the Empire network as it has been demonstrated by the players that the Colonies & Settlement system is much more favored. We suspected this to be the case prior to the launch of these servers, but we believe in trying out and testing new systems and want to make the best use of Early Access as we can. The results speak for themselves, so as of tomorrow, Friday the 19th, at 7 PM Eastern the Empire Server will be shut down. This network will be replaced with a North American PvE network using the existing Colonies system. We still believe that there is a place in the game for ambitious PvP players, and we believe that open-ended PvP is a really important and fun part of ATLAS. We want to find a way we can still support those goals whilst still keeping our more controlled and rule-based PvP. The Hoppening This weekend, the ATLAS will be paid a visit by the Magical Easter Bunny! They’ve struck a deal with the Cosmetic Vendor at your local Freeport and will be giving away their specially branded Bunny Ears for a small donation of Easter Eggs! So hop on into the ATLAS this weekend and join the hunt for eggs which are buried in treasure or can be collected from chickens. Before you know it, you too could be standing proud--or at least standing--with your very own Bunny Ears! If ears don’t float your boat, you could always be a scallywag and throw the egg at passers-by, yolking their vision or slowing down wild creatures. Get yolked! The Hoppening Patch Notes (v101) Treasure Chests now include Easter Eggs and Chickens (both wild/tamed) will drop them over time. Easter Eggs can be used to purchase crafts of a Bunny Hat (they stack, so you can purchase multiple crafts and keep them even after the event ends!) Eggs can be thrown at players to cause a post-process ‘yolk’ effect and at wild creatures to slow them down. Easter Bonus: Egg Maturation speed increased by 3x Increase player speed by 10% across-the-board Water Reservoirs now automatically generate water if they are placed on fertile soil. How quickly they generate water depends on the soil type and biome, indicated on the HUD when you place or look at the water reservoir. You can now self-heal with the medkit. How much healing you get is dependent on a new Self-Healing Skill (though you can Heal yourself without the Skill, you'll only get 10% effectiveness) Killing the Krakens now completes the respective Quest for everyone in the combat zone, not just the people who have got all the Power Stones / Essences. (not retroactive) Fixed Treasure Maps sometimes generating stuck into the world geometry (not retroactive) Spikeshot now has a 15-second Defuse timer that begins upon impact. Company limit on PvP server has been increased to 75. Mermaids should now properly target players on ships (they should then sing to lure the players off the ships). Reduced Submarine max weight to 800 Submarines move 33% slower and uses 50% more fuel Submarine is unable to move laterally when overweight/overcrewed, can still move longitudinally. No longer able to place explosive barrel item directly onto the water. Must have them carried and then tossed into the ocean. Increased % scale for Cannon Reload skills, increased from 10 -> 20 -> 30 to 33% -> 66% -> 100% Armour equip timer has been reduced to 5 seconds Melee weapon equip timer has been reduced to 5 seconds Gun equip timer now matches the reload time (when not completing the mini-game or having the special skills, we'll be updating the skills in the future so that they reduce the equip timer). Updated creature breeding biome tags so that creatures can always be bred in biomes they're found in. upcoming patches Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about our next mega update which we have planned for ATLAS. It’ll be a similar scope to that of the one that launched in April, here’s a little sneak peek at what’s to come! An enormous dungeon found deep in the depths of the polar region. We can see that this was clearly once occupied by pathfinders but now deserted. Rumour has it that they were slaughtered or their fear of a legendary and elusive mythical beast steered them away. We’ve also got a lot more plans for combat, including new weapons! Here’s something we’re working on currently: More islands will soon be emerging their way onto the ATLAS network early this summer, and they’re going to be large and higher quality than ever before! And as always, we’ll be continuing to iterate on your reports and feedback on a regular basis. Since the Mega-Update 1.5 launched, we’ve had over 10 patches fixing bugs, adding in new features, and making adjustments. You can expect that to continue over the coming days, weeks, and months ahead! latest patch notes up to v100.81 - Fixed multiple cases where players would get stuck in structures after reloads, respawns, or fast travels. - Fixed a bug where player flags would be merged into companies if they didn't have a company previously. Creating your own company when you own a flag will still merge the flag, however joining an existing one won't merge over the flag. - Significant improvements for raft sail-mounting control - Possible fix for 'ghost islands' appearing when transitioning between servers - Submarine is now unlocked when defeating the Kraken, regardless if you have collected all the power stones as an individual. - Readjusted (increased) gold dropped from Whales, so that their total reduction was only 17.5% rather than 35%. - Active Settlement wars should now show up on the map for everybody, regardless of team and regardless of how zoomed out you are. v100.7 - Possible fix for tamed Creatures falling through structures on server load/overtime. - Fix for creatures over spawning when wandering out of spawn areas. - Increased structure check on creature spawns to prevent them from spawning inside bases on Lawless servers. May still occur in areas with a large open space, such as a big pen. - Fixed a case where Army of the Damned were being destroyed but did not count towards your objective, therefore made it impossible to dig up certain treasure chests. - Eliminated some D3D hung crashes - Adjusted mythical shipyard crafting requirements so they can be crafted at smithy - Maximum tax on PvP is now 30% - Barshot projectile has had it's range and speed increased so that it's closer to a regular cannon ball - Water Reservoirs now hold 12,000 water and Barrels hold 4,000. - Whale health has been increased by 20% and gold reduced by 35% - Ballista reload time has been increased - Elevators now rise at 3x the rate and can carry 2x more -- may cause some clientside jittering when moving on top of the elevator (known issue that we're working on). - Medkit spoil timer increased to 12 hrs - Increase durability of grappling hook by 2x - Increase earthworm spoil time to 1 hour - Increase the stasis range of Mermaid so they're easier to find - No cooldown on placing cannons in PvE - Reduced creature harvesting for berries - Ramshackle sloop weight capacity has been reduced to 1200 - Raft weight capacity as been increased to 1600 v100.6 - Giraffe now harvests 6x thatch again - Fixed an issue where structure check was allowing players to build when there was no foundational support - Improved bola offset for feeding Elephant and Giraffe - Fixed a bug which allowed you to take items from the trade window of another person in the same company as yourself - Fixed a case where player inputs would 'stick' on sails that they had just unmanned v100.5 New server commandlines: ?SuppressSettlementName=true Suppress the capability to rename settlements except for server admins. ?SuppressJoinNotifications=true Hides all the join/leave notifications on a server regardless of client options. v100.43 - BattlEye update v100.4 - Fixed some issues where characters were able to contest Flags out of range, and where they weren't showing up with the "Flag Range Sonar" action.     Easy to Implement: add a new button that toggles location of pets so they are visible or invisible on the map.... that way, if pets are lost when zoning, then players can find them. That will take very little development time, but solve a HUGE problem that can be game-breaking for many players. This will improve player retention as well.... all for less than a couple hours of development time using already existing code that shows ships, bed, and other things on the map. So much benefit for so little development effort. A big part of solving lost pets problem would be solved in a single afternoon, and could be rolled out as soon as next patch. Developers, you really should consider this.

    I think it’s safe to say that adding in new islands/swapping them/move them required a wipe. But they could also just have 2 new servers up with these new maps. But good question i want to know too @Dollie@Jatheish

    Hello everybody! One of most exiting things for me in atlas is breeding animals to make really OP monsters. But today I lost 3 babybears..... again.... They were 14-15% of mature (should be able to eat from feeding trough) and with full inventory of grown vegetables. Then I filled multiple feeding trough with berries and after that i went to sleep for at least 3 hours. When I woke up feeding trough were almost (but not completely) emty. Thats strange coz 10 bears cant eat 6 feeding trough full of berries in 3 hrs. I left babybears just next to feeding trough that found half-filled in the morning..... so I lost like 8-10 hours of realtime..... again..... Looks like Patch v18.9 was cancelled.... Fixed an issue with babies not eating from inventory/troughs when in stasis. Strange that I cant find message about babybear death in company log..... they disappeared? Devs. Please. Fix. This.     Per Patch Notes " - The higher quality shipyard used when building a ship, the more level ups a ship will be able to obtain. " The higher tier shipyards are broken in terms of leveling. We play on a private and our server admin confirmed the issue with extensive testing. Testing method. Our server admin dropped a normal shipyard and was able to inject XP and get the ship to max level. Our server admin then spawned a mythic shipyard, when injecting XP into the ship the server admin was not able to get the ship's level above 56. The server admin also tried to launch the ship and then inject the XP after the boat was launched this did not work either. This was tested on both a schooner and a brigatine it affects both shipyards. Could a dev please test this out? We would hate to build a galleon with a mythic shipyard expecting to get the "mythic benefit" and get stuck well below the level of a vanilla shipyard. Thanks for your time in advance.

    Attention Devs!!!! THIS!!! Here we have a company who’s claimed an island and is ADVERTISING for other players to come there. Why? Because almost NOBODY WANTS TO SET UP ON SOMEONE ELSES LAND! Your “new” claim system offers absolutely no reason at all settle on claimed territory. The only benefit is to the owner in PVE!!!!! Nice ad by the way. Except every island has resources.

    Do you agree that the submarine should be unlocked in some way easier, no needing kill Kraken ? Kraken is the monster most difficult in game, need many players. Who is player solo, never unlock this quest. The game no have a global menu system to invite players or enter to facilitate, you can only organize through the forum. VOTE POLL Exemple, The server that I play 50% is players do not speak english. It is very difficult to organize, others players what no speak english do not understand the happening in chat. If you have a suggestion for this problem, say below!

    According to the new Captains Log, they are going to introduce more islands this summer with another mega update. Soooooo is this gonna be another wipe?? Only curious how much effort I want to put into building until then.

    It seems from the comments in the latest patch notes that Jax confirmed after NA Empire PVP comes down and the Easter Event starts NA PVE will go live at the same time.

    We are staying on eu pve, pings have been good and our neighbors are friendly so I see no reason to switch till the next wipe. Plus I dont feel like starting over again, lol

    Understanding that people don't want landlords, I hate travelling to Lawless. Pillar, foundation spam, absolute urban vibe that is such an eyesore...you can keep Lawless, I would rather be a tenant.

    I agree with your theory, now tell me a solution to the problem? Everyone players wants know the world aquatic in game. My friend, I believe 70% of players do not have a large group to accomplish this mission. As I said above, we do not have a tool available to create group large or involve other players different more easily.

    Honestly I don't see why you couldn't just cut into quarters obviously the Left side will get more land and the right side will get less.... But First come First serve and there are plenty of smaller company's who would be plenty happy to get one of the left quarters regardless of how little land is there!

    I get the feeling that these additions did not take them long to implement. Re-skin this, change an effect here, add new buff/debuff there and done. Someone on their team probably worked on it during lunch.

    Well being as you don't have a pc that can run anything other than Minecraft, I will explain how it works. I can be on the game, this forum and anything else as my pc is able to do that. I'm not trying to take away anyone's free speech, however being as you have never played this game you give a lot of false information and post about things you don't know anything about. Your post are always telling someone how sad they are. When in reality it is you that is sad and bitter. Perhaps if you spent less time trolling these forums you could get a job or a second job and buy a pc that can run the game. Then when you make 1500 post maybe one or two of them will be relevant.

    Our company is having such a great experience on EU PVE that we are going to stay. I’m torn a bit but I have met so many friendly people that it would be a shame to start over again. Hopefully the other players who enjoy an empty PVE lawless or wanted their own island will fill up the new server. In any case, it’s good news.

    It's me just THAT UNLUCKY or DEVs broke treasure locations, but so far I got 7 maps. I sail to 7 locations. AND I HAD TO ABANDON 6 of those 7 treasures. So 7 places and just 1 treasure for 95 gold. Here is typical situation: Treasure high on a mountain (it's not about I cannot go there with bear), it's on the edge of cliff. Army spawned and next second - they all falling far down from the cliff. After that... well. Once I had just 4 yetis walking around there with resp timer of 2 minutes (I couldn't handle all with bear and of course myself). Another time - one fallen guy just disappeared and I kill em all for 4 times and keep seeing this message so no treasure because on guard is up. This one in picture above well... I CAN NOT fight all army in the water. My 160 stamina is not enough to handle just a single warrior and there are not a single island around to regain stamina. (I came with I ship this is not how it suppose to be) And I've got ALL 7 treasures there. High on a cliffs. Near the VERY EDGE of it! How do we suppose to gather those ears, you know? p.s. - the picture above - I've got bottle to the very location TWICE.

    hell yes. i had planned to build it by now but have just been busy with my new crew building war ships and collecting heads and mounting them on the wall. i have over 40 now. but now that i know people like the idea, ill build the daddy of all arena's now. all stone.

    Wait, so the captains log talks about adding more ark sized islands...will these be pasted onto existing server grids, which would require a wipe? Or added into powerstone islands? Or just their own seperate extra grids? A little clarity would be nice- I dont want to spend countless hours now, just to have another wipe in a few months.

    Either they did not look or did not care, Its quite obvious that PvE players do not want to be landlords or tenants. They want there own land. The old claim system with limits and upkeep, or all lawless is much better fit for PvE.

    not at all , it means u got there before others who maybe didnt manage to log on at server launch as they were at work or in a time zone that was different and were in bed asleep , .. its not about being lazy its about a system that work well in pvp , but isnt really suited to pve in this game , no other player should have the ability to deny anyone building anything they want , or if they start to expand the island owner decides i dont like his new tame pen or the new tower , and decides to demo it .. pvp this system works well as u can just declare war take over the offending players island ,pve nothing you can do about dick island owners that as we saw in the first claim system just want all the toys in the sandbox to themselfs .. look at lawless population compared to the other grids , most lawless areas at peak times have 2-3 times more players then the other grids , so yes a very very large percentage of the player population does indeed not want to settle on islands fully owned by other bring back the old system with limit on flags ,

    It's even weirder because the devs have said more than once that it's a play style they support. Just because you're a solo player doesn't mean you don't play in groups. Solo players want the ability to own a piece of land. They want to be able to share resources and crafted items with their friends. They want to be able to communicate with each other so they can group up and do things. The game hasn't made any of those things very easy.

    Its 1200 I logged in straight after reading this post in a panic as I assumed I had assets sitting on the bottom of the ocean, as 800 would have put the ship overweight.... Why its only 1200 I don't know I know I leveled capacity many times before arriving where I settled down at....

    If what you want is to meet people and just work with them, then I don't understand the problem with meeting some people and just living on their island. The only ways to do that are just to: A) Meet people in here. B) Sail in your starter sloop, and post in public chat, and find an out-going group that is friendly in your travels. Think of it this way. If I live in an isolated hick town, I don't just sit in the hick town and expect the communication technology to get better before I go out and meet the love of my life. I just either: A) Meet people online B) Go somewhere else and meet people.

    A "few" has always been received to me as 1 more than a "couple" so I assumed 3 weeks when I saw they delayed it a "few" weeks. However I've also been in game playing a few hours after they said an update would be deployed in 10 minutes.... Who really knows till the night before it happens or ten minutes after it's live.

    All I see is a bunch of whining and crying from some trollbabies. Listen kiddos, the world doesn't revolve around you like your helicopter parent's taught you. Learn to play with others and take things as they are while working to promote positive change. Also, I never said the game was without flaws. It has plenty of flaws. Our company finds them daily and report them to the Developers. Things are being fixed and worked on more than you know. If you don't like it, go find another sand box to play with and let the people that are trying to be constructive continue to test the game and have fun. Also, correlating the drop in population to the current claim system is a complete fail. The drop in population happened PRIOR to the current claim system. It was due to the wipe announcement and then the corresponding delay. If you look at the the numbers since March, the peak was 9,331 in March and within the last 30 days it has risen to 12,298. I also know that some people are waiting until the NA PvE server is released to come back and test the new system. So, saying that 50% of people don't want to settle on someone else's land is completely false.

    i dont want to be a fucking settler slave for noone and i want to do my own thing without someone permitting me to do so. I want to be a free captain sailing the atlas but i cant do so if i have to build a new ship every fucking week. you know how much time it takes for a solo player to build a fucking brig?

    There are things an owner can do to make the island more attractive. Public Taming traps, ladders to hard to reach places that contain gems, some safe housing to get away from predditors, maps/signs showing where the resources are,, and working to keep the island spam-free. THe location he has is a primo one, temperate so can grow any crop. one grid away from east tundra, high desert and two from low desert and west tundra ans as close to polar as you can get without being in tundra., While I do not like the island ownership model, this owner is they type of owner that would make it work. more power to the OP. A friendly owner is preferable to lawless, however more owners will think they are friendly than actually are.

    He's fishing for people because the Empire server is dead. It was DOA. Its so dead it will most likely get wiped in the next month or so and you'll lose everything you created.

    first of all ark is mmo that has single player don't telling me that the game is mmo so it shouldn't have single player mode it is not even an excuse. what if they just return back single player option just like ark without doing dedicated server crap and get rid of running Cmds that raise your ram/cpu usage ,if you want to play mmo like you said just join any server that you want but if you want to play single player and just by clicking on one button tell me what is the negative outcome that prevent adding that.

    Quoting myself. But since I couldn't get my LAN server working I have refunded the game. No point keeping a game I cannot play. Both single player mode and LAN option are needed before I would buy this game again. Both are available in Ark.
