  1. Completely wrong. We can defend against your dream 100 guns one shot front ugly monster creations.... ...by build such a monster creation as well. The point is that we dont want these ships at all. Try out using the wind as a real sailor for a broadside combat. Clearly you have to use your brain and tactics to do so. Not an easy task for teenage one-shot quick gankers without tactical understanding.
  2. I need a better definition of original claim. To me the original claims lasted like 2 hours before they were claimable and took 30 minutes to declaim or something crazy so you always had to have somebody on to maintain your flags. That is neither here nor there. I made this post originally on reddit for how I would change it. I called it use it or lose it. COPY PASTA Hello :D, I am Lotus from Lotus :D. I am going to try to make a post that shows direction that I expected the game to have but was disappointed to find it didn't have. I bought this game and didn't know much about it except it was made by the company that made ark. So the first day was just a laggy hell of falling through the waves and all kinds of just trash. As I sailed for 12ish hours looking for an area to claim as my own I had fantasies about what I would find on islands and wondered how the game would work. I was... disappointed :(. Here is how I feel the game should work for a new player. You spawn in at the freeport. This area should be pretty safe because it's basically your tutorial zone so you learn that the printer cartridge on the right is actually your vitamins and how to replenish them. After about an hour of getting it figured out you make your first boat and sail away. Yay sailing. (I hate sailing BTW :D) now you come to your next zone... the lawless region... which should basically be a staging point to find your first actual claim area (not somewhere you live forever). So you go and encounter some lower level hostile mobs. Start to encounter the elements. Make your first box (Yay box bases) and sail away. You sail and encounter an area you can drop your claim flag at (Yay land). So now you have a patch of land to call your own. The way you maintain this land should be simple you do things on the grid. So if you are out farming trees or whatever your claim should start to gain time towards it's upkeep because you are doing things on that grid. Actions if farming or building would increase the amount of time as long as it is done on that grid. Lets say you farm up about 48 hours worth of time on your claim but you also decide you want a bigger settlement because now your buddy Bob wants to play with you and he joins your tribe. So you go and drop your second claim flag instead of having 1 flag with 48 hours you now have 2 flags with 24 hours because the time your grid has banked now gets divided by 2 and ticks down for 2 flags. This means you now need to do more work to maintain those flags. This is ok you have 2 people and bob is pretty active so you get to 72 hours in no time. Then bob goes and decides he wants to have the metal node and gems and drops 6 more flags. So now you have 8 claims at 18 hours but you need to do 8x the farm to maintain them as opposed to just the 1 flag. So you go and farm like hell for the night and go to bed with 24 hours on each flag. You wake up go to work and come back home with 10 hours on each flag. So you and Bob put up a tax bank and get your 20% tax on those gems and metal. So you and Bob farm like hell again and end up with 16 hours on each flag. This is a problem because you guys are behind where you were yesterday but you have work and need to go to sleep. So next day you get on with 2 hours left on each flag. You now realize that you can't keep those claims for the gems and metal because trying to farm that much time to maintain upkeep is too much for your 2 man crew. So you kick down to 3 flags and go to bed with 24 hours again. Your neighbors decide they want to go further from the freeport because they hear it is better farming there but it is also harder. You are sad because you like them but wonder what the bigger challenges yield in terms of reward. Over the next few days their claims run out of time and flip deleting everything they had on the land but it is now claimable for the next player to come through and work on their journey. You and Bob farm up and build your first schooner. You picked up some NPC's from a freeport and sailed to the next tile up from yours. You land in an area drop a claim and continue your journey. This new land is harder and has more aggressive creatures that are higher level. The weather is also not as friendly so you have to start wearing clothing :D. You find your old neighbors and they arn't doing too well. You and your neighbor work together and it becomes easier. After a few days of working side by side with your neighbor and talking with them you realize they are interested in going to the next area like you and Bob and merge. This merge makes it so this area is much easier and maintaining the claims is simpler when you have more hands working on it. You go to the next area and it is challenging but as a group of 8 it is much easier. The resources come at higher density but the monsters are also much stronger. Each time you guys leave a base behind you either have to go back to it and maintain the timer or let it go. So that story ended up taking a lot longer but it was to give you a feel for how I believe the game should work and not just spit out the mechanics (Which is basically what I am going to do here). So the Freeports should be easy to survive but you can't build. (middle of the map) The lawless zones should make you chilly or warm but not extreme waves. Some hostiles for you to fight but mostly neutral mobs. Your buildings desolve after a few days and that keeps the zone fresh. They should also drop basic resources like freeports. (generic great value fiber etc) (1 over from freeport) The claim zones should have tiers based on how far from the freeport you are. The monster levels increase the farther you get and the climate becomes more extreme with hot and cold and the heat/cold waves you get. The resources should also increase in density and variety . (2-3 different metals an island in the hard zone with level 60ish mobs that can't be tamed, more alphas, etc) The world should not connect North to South. (Or East to West because of how a sphere actually would work) North should be cold, South should be hot. The Polar/Volcanic region should be really hard to live in so trying to farm there regularly would make it so you don't claim as much land there because the upkeep would be too much. Also the idea is to prevent players from taking from players, neglect kills their flags. Just how I think it should work because the amount of griefing that will happen will kill this game imo. End Copy Pasta! (I feel more people read reddit than this forum XD) ~Lotus
  3. And thinking about it, actually, there could be some use to the vulnerability status in pve! Opportunity to design things around it, rather than just removing the aspect entirely. My company leader actually had a lot of fun designing a cannon defense tower. Now the idea was actually sprung from the potential griefer, coming along to bring ships of the damned into our harbor and destroying our ships so they could scuttle them after. It became fairly useless after the change was implimented to make boats and structures resilent to that sort of activity. However! Could it be possible to design random attacks on settlements by monsters, armies of the damned, or what have you during these 'scheduled vulnerability' times the players set? That, instead of players coming to attack your base or island, perhaps a hydra comes out of the depths to attack and eat people on islands? This could further the incentive to socialize and band together as pathfinders on an island, rather than "I just wanna build a massive base and play by myself." It could also give smaller companies who want to own an island a reason to really think it over before actually claiming it. Not only for a resource demand, but also for the potential of it being attacked by a huge monster and if you're only 1 or 3 people, might not be able to defend it on your own. Just an idea. TL;DR Opportunity to utilize 'vulnerability timer' in PVE by designing NPC forces that attack islands as a randomized event possibility. Gives players more incentive to band together, rather than remain reclusive. Also gives incentive for smaller companies and solo players to live on an already owned island, rather than own the island themselves. Randomized island attacks would also make the world feel more real and immersive. If an island is under attack, players simply on the island for maps or exploring could help in it's defense for better loot, and greater experience. Timer essentially would give owners of the island a chance to be online for potential attacks. Reward based on the rank of the attack, similarly to the rank of the island. Rank 3 islands (assumingly bigger) have greater chance to be attacked by larger mobs, like a Hydra. Whereas rank 1 islands would have greater chance of only being attacked by smaller ones. Maybe 3 waves of army of the damned or something.
  4. Hello; I have a problem when I open my Discovery I miss 100 points for killing the whale and the sea monster (I can pass my levels but the 100 points are not displayed on the Discovery)
  5. 1. Monster Sperm Whales damage is currently too high. Needs to be reduced by at least half of the current. 2. Whales need to give WAY more blubber. It's kinda silly the amount they give.
  6. Each PowerStone gives you 40 DP. We have 8 PowerStones, so 8x40 = 320 DP GhostShip gives also 40 DP Monster Sperm Whale gives 50 DP Monster Blue Whale gives 50 DP Sea Demon (Kraken) gives 150 DP. Each island gives 1 DP and has several DiscoZones, each of which also gives 1 DP (with the exception of FreePorts)
  7. It took a long time and lots of effort to come to the island, but nothing was achieved, which is really "interesting". I realized that in this game, the real challenge is not the monster and the environment, but the patience to face the game loophole. Unfortunately, my patience has been gradually eliminated!
  8. I finally understood why there are fewer and fewer players in this game!!! This is just my personal advice. First of all, the idea of this game is very good, to explore and survive in the beautiful islands and the endless ocean. However, the numerous bugs that appear in the game will completely stop you. For the high-quality treasure, today my partner and I spent several hours sailing to the north side of the map N4 (NA PVE), when we activated the monster, the monster was blocked in deep underground, the treasure location cannot be excavated. (The excavation site should be in the same place as the monster activation, but we can't drill to the damn underground). Therefore, not only were we wasting a night, thousands of gold coins could not be obtained!
  9. the fountain and age wouldn't be so bad if they actually put some effort into it... made the caves different from one another and made traps or puzzles instead of super monster spam
  10. This player is tempted to seduce the monster to seal the D12 entrance. It’s awful. https://i.imgur.com/ALYAEex.jpg
  11. Have you all looked at Ashes of Creation, it's an MMO that alot of people where looking forward to playing, I was giving the opportunity to play it in it's Beta stages, it was only going to cost 500.00 and I think now I can still join but the price is something like 75.00 and you get one month of game time. In all honesty I haven't been following it for sometime now, it may have already released but in comparison to this one being released at 1/2 price until is comes out of EA..... Well I spend more money on Monster Energy drinks in a month then I have on what it's cost me to play this game since Jan. 2nd. We all want the game to be a certain way and if you look through the forums and compare the patch notes you'll see that the developers do hear us, they do try to implement some changes
  12. Thank you for the warning, unsure why anyone would go to O14 when the FOY is at F8, but I digress, perhaps for one of the powerstones itself or a specific monster. still a valid warning.
  13. #1 I'd change the way we tame. I don't know about you crazy devs but when I get a new pet I don't kick the living shit out of it and then feed it over and over and over again. It doesn't make sense. #2 Give us an animal that's good at farming thatch, like it's that animal's #1 priority. Maybe the wiki is lying but it seems to me there's no animal that primarys thatch, which is odd since it's one of the 3 most basic resources. Each resource in the world should have a tame that specializes in harvesting it. #3 Make the Rhino get metal when it mines rocks that you get stone/flint/metal from when using a pick. #4 Give us a command that allows the elephant to move to a location we point out, drop all of its inventory into a container and then return to where it was. So we can farm stuff, send the elephant back to base to drop off our load while we continue to farm. (Also, give us something like the hopper from Minecraft and allow us to craft while pulling from containers we're standing next to, so if i'm standing next to a box with wood, thatch and fiber in it I should be able to craft building components without having to move them to my inventory first.) #5 According to the wiki the rabbit is supposed to warn you about dangerous creatures, but it either doesn't work or the creatures are like monster level ones. It should warn you about any nearby predator. #6 The cargo saddle should actually allow us to put cargo in it, with a much higher weight limit. That's the whole point of the invention of the wheel, to move things that are much heavier than we ordinarily would be able to. #7 Wolves are underpowered compared to bears. The only reason I'd ever use a wolf right now is for the warming buff, also they need more base stamina. #8 Make one of the birds able to deliver message notes to allies, sort of like carrier pigeons or the ravens in Game of Thrones. (for that matter, add a note item and a mailbox item so we can leave messages in the actual game for people) #9 FIX. BREEDING. Breeding right now takes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I have no problem with it being challenging, I do have a problem with breeding taking as long as a full time shift at a job. #10 Allow us to craft a higher tier feeding trough that allows preserving salt to be put into it to increase the shelf life of the food. #11 Make chicken eggs give you meat vitamins instead of veggie. #12 Parrots can talk, right? So allow us to "teach" it a saying to say randomly using text to speech. This is a pretty low priority idea but it'd be funny. That's all I got off the top of my head.
  14. NGood evening, I'm an old school gamer, I am use to waiting 3 hours for the Notorious monster spawn. However I am very tired of it taking me 2 hours to sail back home. 6 tiles and because the wind isn't in my favor what should take an hour takes 2 to 3 hours. I cant leave my ship and just log off, so I am stuck spending extra hours just to make it home safe. While the wind mechanic is cool. Its also generally bad. I'm about to finally give up even after dealing with all the growing pains because I just cant play this style of game anymore. We live in a gaming world of now now now. Please do something to avoid these long trips home. Luckily , I'm not just here to complain. I also come with suggestions. Just like in the real world, there are trading routes. Certain area's you sail because the current, or wind will generally always be in your favor for that direction. Can we implement this in the game as well? Instead of The entire world having the same wind, Have wind going in a specific general direction. I.e. even numbers go South East while odd numbers go North West. Please give me a trade route path that can give me a general estimated time before I set off to sail so I'm not stuck sailing an extra 2 hours, and tabbed out to write a forum post. Thank you.
  15. A few possible creature additions along with a more detailed explanation of painting possibilities. Tames/Mobs: Deer - could act as a passive tame, and passive gathering or a passive heal ability Foxes - Cute, popular, passive tame, could "fetch" things, or act as an insulator. Would be exceedingly neat if they could wrap around a players neck like an Otter. Dogs - many breeds to choose from but I could easily see a type of herding dog, Pyrenees to help herd animals, Wolfhound to help hunt wolves and other large creatures, or German Shepard's as attack dogs. Cats - could use to hunt rats, could also act as a insulator, could use as a small creature to snag other small animals, (kind of like a living bola). Rats - Mob, aggressive, small and hard to hit, could infect with diseases Goats - Good for milk and butter, passive tame, could be carried on shoulders. Ferrets/Weasel - could fetch, dig and be worn for insulation. Peacock - Shoulder pet, passive, could add a cooling affect, or a stat buff. Hawk - Attack buff, also could be used as an attack pet to heckle other players or wild creatures. Owl - Could also be used as a living bola, hunt rats, and add a cooling buff. Games Content: Blankets - could be used to warm baby animals or players could soak in water barrels to cool off baby animals. Hay - used as bedding for baby animals to keep warm. Fan - could be held by player and used to cool off baby animals. Bottle - could use cows or goats milk to feed baby animals to increase imprint and to also emphasize the usefulness of tames. Brush - could be used on horses and sheep alike, to increase affection points?, and also to groom the sheep to get higher quality wool. Armor for Tames - could implement many different kinds of armor for tames, making them customizable with paints, and different quality's for designs. Affection Points - could have an affection meter for tames, not just imprint on them for a buff, but an active meter to pet, groom and feed your tame for a lasting affection boost. FOY potion for tames - a potion made in the the FOY used on tames to reverse them to their baby stage and enable them to be carried on your shoulders. Only select tames, and make it a complicated recipe. Fashion - Obviously there will be more clothes, but an even more advanced design of clothes for male and female specifically. Basically clothes that can only be worn by each gender, and make certain designs only acquirable by quests and achievements. Make it something people can grind for. Maybe add buffs to them as well, or make it to where we can "enchant" our armor and clothes. Paints/Dyes - we already have quite a few colors but many designs don't transfer all that well due to the small palette. Could also implement "special" dyes that have unique effects and designs. Like a galaxy dye, etc. Or for effects a "flashy" dye, a dye that would cycle through different colors. Make the cycles random, and popular "flashys" could have a lower restock in the shops or as a monster drop. Poker - make a poker mini-game in taverns that allows players to bet gold, and can win a possible "pot", also allowing tavern owners to take a percentage of the winnings. Bards - make it possible to play for gold, craft your own musical tunes. Business Meter - allow a rating system between players, so when someone renegades on a deal, the wounded party can give them a certain number of points docked. This could also be used to reward company's, points could be given for good trades or when people in a company have been kind to new players or helpful in general. Could even offer rewards for certain point goals. 100 pts - special flag design 200 pts - company stat buff etc and so forth. It would help players to know who to trade with, who to avoid, and would promote players being helpful. Of course some company's might want to just be blood thirsty scalawags. I'll add more as I think of them.
I'd suggest more plank models / options, as we allready have with walls and ceilings o.O I mean, who havent had the thought, that rear-facing gunports is a very viable option for a galleon / brig ? Not to mention, the aft top part of the hull on brigs and galleons, makes it pretty darn hard to reach the emergency ladder :S ... (side-mounted ropeladders on brigs tend to bug and only let you get half way up...) As for the floating tanks.... no way in hell id ever be onboard such a monster :S yuk
  18. Yes, I have seen this work (me and a Mean Whale Sea Monster had a nice little talk before he got bored and killed my ship lol), for what the cords do, im not 100% sure, but i be leave 0,0 = random spawn but you can set it, to tell what general area to spawn (just not sure if thats world pos, or grid pos) hmm seem your spawn code is just a little off, try this "OceanEpicSpawnEntriesOverrideValues": "(NPCSpawnEntries=((NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/GentleWhale/GentleWhale_Character_BP.GentleWhale_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=-700.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000)),(NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/GentleWhale/GentleWhale_SeaMonster_Character_BP.GentleWhale_SeaMonster_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=-700.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000)),(NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/Squid/Squid_Character_BP.Squid_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=0.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000))),NPCSpawnLimits=,MaxDesiredNumEnemiesMultiplier=15.000000)", if you editing the json itself use whats above, but if you using the server editor (https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor) use whats below (NPCSpawnEntries=((NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/GentleWhale/GentleWhale_Character_BP.GentleWhale_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=-700.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000)),(NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/GentleWhale/GentleWhale_SeaMonster_Character_BP.GentleWhale_SeaMonster_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=-700.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000)),(NPCsToSpawn=(BlueprintGeneratedClass'/Game/Atlas/Creatures/Squid/Squid_Character_BP.Squid_Character_BP_C'),NPCsSpawnOffsets=((X=0.000000,Y=0.000000,Z=0.000000)),NPCsToSpawnPercentageChance=(1.000000))),NPCSpawnLimits=,MaxDesiredNumEnemiesMultiplier=15.000000) if you self hosting, the window that opens when you start a server, is the console. If you using a hosting company not sure, where you can find the console, going to have to ask them. you cant try checking the log for that grid, but not 100% sure about that.
  19. Lets make a few key pointers before the discussion for those who were not part of the 100+ players that were a part of killing the kraken. -have 54 ships mostly brigs with at least 5-7 galleons -high ship volume the closer you get to H8 will cause multiple storm spawns attempting to destroy your ship -once making it there with your armada (and you will need one) randoms may end up spawning the kraken which puts up a wall stopping outside ships from entering so you must all enter in spawn zone at same time. -You will need to deal with many attacks. one of which may one shot your brig. -in addition it takes place in a storm which will cause damage over time while fighting and also cause you personally to take damage unless spec'd correctly -you will need lot of resources in order to repair Looking over this list you can tell this is a vary costly monster to attempt to kill. It costs resources and time to build and prepare. After all that 54 ships and an overloaded server to take this beast down. What rewards did we get for this hard work (some more then other organizer i mean you). Well nothing..........if you died. you might consider that to be ok right. But out of those 54 ships how many do you think survived? 40? 30? 20? nope try 3....and out of the entire armada of 54 ships only the crew (which were still ALIVE) got any reward. The rest of the armada got wasted time spent, sunken ships, and sunken resources. Maybe it was meant to be a risk a gamble risk all this for a chance of an reward. The question i ask myself is why would I want to try it again? Next question since now we know for a fact that if you die you get nothing how likely is it for people to work as a team to take this monster down again? Personally I don't recommend even attempting if you want something back for your hard work.
  20. Current copy paste of the stats 11,977 playing an hour ago 21,748 24-hour peak 58,788 all-time peak Now don't try to tell me unofficial isn't counted cuz this just counts whoever has the Atlas app running in their Steam client, and as far as I know Atlas is only available on Steam and u need to run it through Steam to connect to an unnoficial server as well. Here is the Steam stats from their in Steam stats page, it gives them a couple thousand extra players but still it's a horrible statistic. 21. Agreed Agreed, but they went overboard with monster nerfs, much like they went overboard with fire arrow nerfs. Feels like they were just like “fuck it” and nerfed them to shit so they wouldnt need to react to carebears crying about how “broken” the content it
  22. First of all - I'm NOT ASKING FOR HELP WITH IT. I play with just my brother and we resigned to the fact that those POWER STONES are not available to us. At least not the straight way (we actually don't know if we do really need them). Today I went to golden age ruins at G3. I left all my crafted stuff and ships at base. Just took tiny sloop with swivel and 200 ammo and basic bow with 1000 arrows. My goal was just to look around, maybe lure to the ship and shot some monsters. I thought maybe I'll be able to climb to the ruins roof and kill one epic monster with my bow... (I didn't make it). I spent couple of hours there. And here what I noticed. There are tons of monsters 60lvl and higher. There are huge mystical creatures with huge aggro radius. And far from your ship - you just "dead man walking". Unless you find a safe spot. Every animal will kill you in 3 sec. Every mythical creature basically oneshot you. Your weapon and armor doesn't matter (I've tried to shot fire elemental and each my arrow did 3 damage. I have a "blue" bow in my base which is 130% damage so that would be a 4) So... I just wonder. What it would looks like if I play in big group and we go there together? I mean. There is no "tank" role in this game right? There is no such a guy who would gather and hold dangerous creatures. There is no healer role to heal "tank" also. So even with a big party - there only one fireball needed to make half of this party do naked run from ships bed. Is this how DEV guys saw it? Army of naked people running from the ship to their corpses again and again? Naked people lure big monsters to the ship to slain them whit heavy firearms? Or it's just a game where alot of guys try to stuck monsters in textures and shot them from far away? I mean - I just don't get it. How the big group suppose to handle all crazy stuff happening in golden age ruins? My journey ended with... well I'll call it EA stuff : ) First - 3 fire elemental just stuck around my corpse. I couldn't lure them out (they just stuck and twitching into the mountains) so I lost my bow and 900 arrows. Then, before I scuttle my sloop I noticed a dragon over a sea. I sailed to him and then... I shoot all my 170 swivel ammo at him. He just staying there and did nothing. There were 4% of health left (I was out of ammo). I went ashore to craft another bow and arrows. I went back. I shoot like 40 arrows at him. He relocate himself after each hit. And then. When he was like 1-2% of health he just despawned : ))
  23. Are you retarded with this concept ? When you reach 90 years, you have no tip on where is the fountain, you need to run on thoses damn islands full of unkillable creeps (during 2 hours per island not counting the travel) to reach a pedestal full of lvl 234 bats and...no luck the fountain isn't here...try the next island... just rub this buff and this age concept if you dunno how to deal with it. And don't tell me there is any skill in this, cause no one is killing any monster there, just running and praying for a good framerate.
  24. Hey Everyone, Was wondering if there was info on the specs to host this game, Grid by Grid. Similar resources to Ark with CPU and RAM ? Just curious what kinda monster this game is server side for anyone that has run a dedicated already.
  25. The concept of Fountain of Youth I can dig. Your character gets old, and you want to be young again. Especially since you get a debuff if you don't and a stat increase if you do. Motivation. You have to go find it - cool. This game has a big sailing/exploring component, that fits the bill for pretty much all players. But then you have to go to an island in a fairly narrow time window (given the distance it takes to sail places), that's filled to the brim with creatures that will kill you in one hit? Surrounded by abandoned sloops and rafts because I guess your character has learned in all their years that you have to do countless suicide runs to become young again? Yuck. I'm posting this because a couple of us in our company of 5 set out to find the FoY in our sloop. It took nearly 4 hours to get there (due to a location moving away unexpectedly), only to end with us unable to even reach the fountain due to countless Fire Elementals, Gorgons, Lions, Scorpions, etc filling the land, swimming out to sea to get us, and even crossing over multiple abandoned sloops to attack our ship and destroy 3 out of our 4 beds. Half the time we couldn't spawn from dying because a creature was on our ship attacking our loading in bodies. Not fun at all, and a disheartening way to log off from an evening of sailing. Is the idea that you should be able to take on this endless spawn island? Is the idea you're supposed to attempt to sneak past them? As far as I can tell, neither of those really work, as most strategies I've seen or heard about just involve zerging the island with another people that the monsters are too distracted to get you, which doesn't work if you're aging off cycle from a main group of people. What I think currently works: The concept of needing to find a fountain of youth to get young again (due to stat incentives) Traveling to find a fountain of youth Having some sort of 'test' or 'challenge' in order to obtain the fountain of youth What I think currently does not work: An island entirely full of monsters who can one-hit you (probably even if you have gear) The current timing of island movement (seems a little too short still) This implies that I would like the current test or challenge at the end (i.e. a ton of monsters) to change, or to be decoupled from the power stone thing (that's what is also on that island, right? I'm just interested in the FoY tbh haha). Here are some suggestions on different challenges that would happen on 'normal' non-monster filled islands: Have the FoY challenge be more like a treasure map. Go to a location on that island (or on a different island) to face a select group of creatures that appear when you show up. Then claim their treasure (has a mcguffin) to turn into the FoY. Could scale the difficulty depending on how many times you've youth'd, up to a higher limit. Instead of fighting monsters, you just have to find keys on the same island or different islands. Number of keys could increase depending on how many times you've youth'd, again. Have one big monster guarding the FoY. You can try to sneak past (there's a lit route, or something), kill it to get treasure, or YOLO your way to try and get to the fountain. Seems more reasonable than 'island full' of monsters. So those are my thoughts, but what do you all think would make this mechanic more fun?
