No No No No No What a stupid idea.... You don't bring up the EU and NA PvE servers a few weeks apart, that is a receipe for disaster. What will happen is you'll get flood of NA players on the EU servers resulting in a bunch of islands being claimed for a few weeks by NA players who will then leave. (This will piss off some of the EU players) Then not all the NA players will leave for the NA server on it's launch and that will mean lower population on the NA server. (That will piss off the NA players) This is literally the worst way to launch a mmorpg game, and I've played over 50 of the damn things. Either delay both PvE servers or launch without the Empire server.

Ahoy Pathfinders! We just wanted to give you a quick update on where we're at with this upcoming major version release! The team and the community have been extensively running the latest update through its paces on our Public Test Realm in tandem with our internal testing and bug fixing. We've found the PTR to be highly beneficial for our team, and because of you guys, we have been able to identify many bugs and resolve them before the update officially launching on our main network. So thank you very much, we truly appreciate all the support and feedback you've shown us, especially over the past week! We're very eager to get this patch out and it's not too far away. ATLAS has been revised and re-envisioned in this Mega-Update 1.5, which is the culmination of 3 months of live feedback from players since launch! To read about the upcoming features, check out our patch notes: Launch Information As of right now, we are currently working on generating our release candidate. We expect that our entire network will be wiped and the patch made available on: Thursday, the 11th of April at 10 AM PDT For this relaunch, we'll be spooling up the following networks, completely fresh with no pre-existing data: Colonies: EU and NA Networks PVE: EU Network Empires: NA Network We're currently in the midst of setting up hardware and expect that we'll be able to deploy an additional NA PvE network in a couple of weeks time. Please keep your eye on our social media, discord, and announcements through the night as we'll be sharing updates as we get closer to the launch time. Additionally, for those of you who are just beginning your ATLAS journey, we recommend you wait until the update has launched and keep an eye on Steam if you er...value your booty. just wanted to thank grapeshot for the big middle finger they are giving the NA PVE players, forcing them to play on eu server with higher ping and more lag or to play pvp with all that nonsense. so glad you keep your customer base in mind when you make your ridiculous decisions.

So I played this game for 750 hours or so, and they can wipe all the progress I have, even stuff that isn't supposed to be taken from you like player experience and other things, im assuming because they are too lazy to find some way to transfer our characters to their new system, and I cant get a refund for the game. Sure I bought it at early release, but there was no warning that I was just a guinea pig and all my progress would be erased, maybe that was in the fine print or some wall of text but I didn't see it.

My wife plays Atlas with me but doesn’t read the forums or follow any of the “information” that is given to us by the Devs. So I read what I can and tell her what the plan is or what updates have be implemented. After this last announcement, she asked me if the game is being run by children. She is totally serious and I told her, yes. We bought a game that is fun to play but has the organization of a bunch of kids trying to get a game of kickball together at recess. It’s their ball, they are the captain’s and your getting picked last because you can’t catch

Getting very frustrated with the fact that the playatlas website doesn't provide news to the players who don't use Twitter or discord...this should be your first contact with players not the afterthought, this site should be updated before steam with relevant information pertaining to patches and updates. I left the public test realm when I saw the update available, started an hour long download to find out half way through that I should not have left the beta, waited for the download to finish, re added to the public test realm and am now waiting two and a half hours on another update....I am going to be late for the launch, and I could have had it downloaded and been ready had this info been presented and available through proper channels. This should be you first resource to reach your player base. And I have to get news from my fellow company members after they hear it on Twitter or discord, when I am actively haunting this page...

Ahoy Pathfinders! ATLAS 1.5 has arrived! ATLAS has been revised and re-envisioned in this Mega-Update 1.5, which is the culmination of 3 months of live feedback from players since launch! We know that this update has taken quite some time and we really appreciate everyone’s patience as we get our feet wet redesigning the claiming system, expanding the map, and getting all the content ready. As a team, this has been one of the largest updates we have ever worked on and we’re incredibly excited to get it out to you. We believe with these changes, ATLAS has come a long way and we’re going to continue to remain dedicated to the game, bringing you more major updates a monthly basis, which will include more content such as new items, weapons, creatures and new areas for players to check out! And now here’s what you can expect with ATLAS 1.5! official servers & claim changes With this update, we’ll be launching 4 fresh Official Networks to represent 3 different game modes, each with a unique claim system. We want to give you the choice to choose the mode which best represents your playstyle. Colonies PvP: Freeform building, with more progress-protecting and time-enforced PvP rules creating a cooperative atmosphere, and limits to ensure the game is more oriented towards single players and small to mid-sized groups. We’ll have two official networks available for this mode, one in Europe and one in North America. Empires PvP: This is our previous PvP mode. There are no limits on claim flags, and company sizes are at a maximum. We’ll have one Official Network in North America where players can fight it out to determine which Empire holds control of the ATLAS. PvE: This will be based on our Colonies mode, with the PvP specific elements disabled. There will also be additional limits on companies in terms of how many islands they can own based on how large they are. We’ll initially be launching one network hosted in Europe, with another North American network to follow in a few weeks (the hardware is currently being prepared!). Jump aboard and explore a greatly expanded World Map with new islands and regions ready to be plundered! With this update, The ATLAS world now has 40% more islands and unique land masses to grab as your own, along with a new biome and world map layout to explore. Take an explosive foray into new missions and quest lines and uncover the depths of ATLAS with new mechanics and items! Take a deep dive into new underwater content and explore the depths of the deepest ocean trenches in the brand-new Submarine, but be on the lookout as the ruins are guarded by powerful underwater creatures and are home to the Giant Crab! Construct towering monuments that will stand the test of time! With a revamped building system, you can be more creative than ever in the world of ATLAS. Immortalise your enemies via the thoughtful process of converting their heads into mementos to adorn the perimeters of your Company's lands. Catapult yourself into new raiding strategies and let loose the savage in you (and perhaps the contents of your stomach as you become airborne). Form a fleet and traverse vast expanses of ocean beneath the guiding light of the Aurora Borealis dancing on the horizon and reap the extra bounties she grants. Try your hand swinging across mountains with the new physical grappling mechanics. A whole new world of adventure awaits you! patch notes New Features and Content - Redesign: ATLAS World - 40% more islands/landmass & new world map layout. - Redesign: Claim System - Colonies: Freeform building, with more progress-protecting and time-enforced PvP rules creating a cooperative atmosphere, and limits to ensure the game is more oriented towards single players or smaller groups. Game.ini: [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] bUseSettlementClaims=true Set this to true to use the new "Colonies" island settlement system bDontRequireClaimFlagsForBuilding=false If true, you can place all structures without claim flags. We strongly recommend setting this to true if you're using the settlement mode bForceRequireClaimFlagsForBuildingCannons=false If true, you are still required to have a claim flag to place cannons even if bDontRequireClaimFlagsForBuilding is true. We strongly recommend setting this to true if you're using the settlement mode SettlementCombatPhaseLengthSeconds=32400 The length of the settlement mode's combat phase TreasureGoldMultiplier=1.0 Scales how much gold you get from treasure maps MinPointsPerDiscoveryZone=1.0 Acts as a minimum value for how many points you'll get from any single discovery zone EnemyBuildPreventionRadiusMultiplier=1.0 Scales the enemy build prevention radius NonShipTurretInitializationTimeScale=0.0 Scales how long before newly-placed land cannons are allowed to fire. set it to zero to remove this feature. bPvEAllowNonAlignedShipBasing=false If true, 'enemies' will be allowed to stand on your ship in PvE bPvEDontReplicateLoggedOutPlayers=false If true and the server is in PvE configuration, player characters will disappear when logged out bHomeServerDontReplicateLoggedOutPlayers=false If true, player characters on homeservers will disappear when logged out DestroyUntaggedShipsInterval=0 If greater than zero, ships that have not had any of that team logged-in nearby will be destroyed after that amount of time bDisplayTopCompanies=true If true and NOT playing settlement mode, the list of top 10 companies will be displayed on the map CompanySoloIslandPointsAmount=0 CompanyMinIslandPointsPlayers=0 CompanyMaxIslandPointsPlayer=0 CompanyMinIslandPointsAmounts=0 CompanyMaxIslandPointsAmounts=0 For these, if non-zero they will scale-limit how many 'island points' a company is allowed to claim with claimflags. In non-settlement "Empires" mode that is simply the total number of claim flags. Here are the values we use for PvE as an example: CompanySoloIslandPointsAmount = 30; CompanyMinIslandPointsPlayers = 1; CompanyMaxIslandPointsPlayers = 50; CompanyMinIslandPointsAmounts = 30; CompanyMaxIslandPointsAmounts = 150; And for PvP: CompanySoloIslandPointsAmount=250; CompanyMinIslandPointsPlayers=1; CompanyMaxIslandPointsPlayers=1; CompanyMinIslandPointsAmounts = 250; CompanyMaxIslandPointsAmounts = 250; SettlementFlagResourceUpkeepMultiplier=2.0 For settlement mode, this will scale the amount of upkeep resources necessary in the claim flags. you can set it to 0 to remove the upkeep entirely. AllowedCombatPhaseStartAdjustmentInterval=604800 For settlement mode, this is how often (in seconds) players are allowed to adjust the combat schedule for a settlement (edited) SettlementWarInterval=86400 For settlement mode, this is how long a war lasts MinSettlementWarTimeOffset = 172800 For settlement mode, this is the minimum amount of time in the future that a war can be scheduled MaxSettlementWarTimeOffset = 345600 For settlement mode, this is the maximum amount of time in the future that a war can be scheduled MinimumSettlementWarCooldownInterval = 432000 For settlement mode, this is the amount of time after a war ends before a new war can be declared bDisableFogOfWar=false If you set this to true, the fog & shrowd of war will be disabled bUseNewStructureFoundationSupportChecks=false If you set this to true, foundation/supports will be more correctly required for horizontal structure building, improving server performance but consequently limiting certain kinds of architectural builds. bAutoCalculateIslandPoints = true; If true, for settlement mode, the island points will automatically be calculated by the island's size on the map, for any islands that are set to 1 point AutoIslandPointSizePower = 0.6f //a power to apply to this calculation AutoIslandPointSizeScale=0.000015f //a scale to this calculation AutoIslandPointsMin=1 //a minimum clamp on this calculation AutoIslandPointsMax=100 //a maximum clamp on this calculation SettlementOwnerAllowForceDemolishStructureInterval=8640 For settlement mode, the period of time that a settlement owner is able to instantly demolish any other settler team's structures during peacetime WaterClaimsMaximumDistanceFromShore=0 For non-settlement mode, the distance away from shore that water claims are allowed to be placed (0 means no limit) AutoDestroyWildDinosInterval = 259200 If greater than zero, wild dinos will be automatically destroyed and respawned at this interval if the server has been live this long, to help keep wild dino populations correct. Only recommend using this if bAllowSavingWildDinos=false from the ServerSettings section [ServerSettings] bAutoGenerateIslandSpawnRegions=true When true, players will be automatically given the option to select any of the islands on a homeserver as a spawn point bAllowSavingWildDinos=false By default now, wild dinos are not saved in order to increase server savegame speed. set this back to true if you want to have wild dinos save. We have also updated our ServerGridEditor and island jsons, which can be found on our github. They have been updated for this major release, including some fixes that have occurred over the past few days since the PTR went live. The fundamental problem here is your lack of understanding of what EA is and what it entails. Accusing others of being sleazy because you didn’t understand what was and wasn’t being offered is the sort of thing people used to have the grace and humility to apologize for. This being the age of the internet, I am not holding my breathe. Want to impress people and defy expectations? Admit the mistake and apologize for casting aspersions at others due to your own error.

I think I'll step a way for a few, the suspense is killing me! Maybe if I walk away, it will happen.. like a watched pot never boiling.. although.. thats kinda dumb, cuz evenutually a heated pot will boil at the right temp, watchers or no... this however......

  18. 2 points
Dollie, on Twitter, advised to stay opted in to PTR because it will roll you back to the current live version and make you download extra data.
  19. 2 points
So what I've noticed in the ptr is now the claim is the whole island rather than some flags. So there will be less claims (more people without their own claims) and the same taxes. All this new system did was screw landowners who had land and made us all slaves to the very few that will get claims. System is by far worse than what we had. Land claims should have been 3 flags per player, maybe 5. This system is crap. Guess it really doesnt matter since there is no na pve server now. Man the dev's completely blew this game.
  20. 2 points
Sheesh. Stop whining. The EU people lost their PvE server a week early for the PTR so it's only fair they get their PvE server online first while the new server is being installed. Think of it more like: You get to skip the first 2 weeks of bug fixes while you play on PvP or EU PvE.

Hello. I stopped playing since the announcement of the wipe because I loved my slow progression, but with the wipe my progression would be lost so I gave up. Since then I have visited the forums every day for news. I was happy that finally the update would come out, now I see that PVE NA Server will not exist for the moment. Daemon Cross, will you play on EU Network? I always see your posts in this forum because I like your opinions. Note: In NA PVE you gave me a flag for my and my wife, we are always grateful for this, +100 hours of fun there After waiting so long I have 2 options: 1) Try to play on the European server and who knows how lucky to find an island. 2) Give up the game and look for something else. I will not wait "weeks" for a server.
  22. 2 points
So everyone jumps on at launch, people choose their island, therefore no way to know what future taxes are going to be on that island. People start building before anyone is able to claim the island, which will be quite a few because people gotta go grab gold first. You get your little base built and someone claims the island sets 50% tax. So how was checking the map first any way useful?

And I'll be sailing on my ramshackle sloop towards the temperate forests...

The Crab. Gist of my thoughts: Overpowered version of the Krakinos. Needs a nerf. The giant crab is a wonderful addition, but it is too overpowered in PvP: Was on the receiving end of this. Crab was taking no damage from an imprinted bear. The bear being thrown in this clip does 120 DMG when Cry is active, it is doing 3 against the crab. Bullshit. Jump is ridiculously huge, it should NOT be able to bound of over the high walls, the throw is too far. It's just shitty to play against. Too easy to tame once they are unlocked.Should be a temporary tame if it is going to be this powerful. SERIOUSLY NERF THE DAMN JUMP AND THROW ON THIS THING, IT SHOULD NOT BE JUMPING WALLS T3 Breeding: Not much to say here. Temps need to be looked at and not be so ridiculously hard to manage; it should only be difficult to manage in the first few hours of life if there is meant to be challenge here. The current x6 breeding times should be standard, forty eight hours wait is crap. Claim System: Combat mode and war decing: Eight hours is too long. Six hours is more appropriate, IMO. Drop the 20 minute lockout to canons for island owners. Wardec should be 12 hours. At 24 hours it is just an offline raiding ticket. Claiming: Claim flag should not be able to tax without a tax bank, alternatively, get rid of the tax bank. Get rid of the ability to open enemy flags to retrieve gold. The Submarine Too fast. WAY too fast. It should be slow, and cost WAY more paste. Too many mean whales get spawned from it's presence. Player Shops In addition to the player-shop; being able to have our own NPC, and Cosmetic Vendor would be great. This would be great for PvE players and PvP Trade companies alike. Sorry for directness, I've reviewed too many Rust updates.

The ability to designate embark destination on ship deck for pets. Function for pets to disembark ship. Ships able to anchor on underwater stone tier platforms. 'Loot all' keybinding. When looting own corpse equipment automatically requips unless broken. Unstuck console command that teleports player or tame several feet away only usable outside of combat. (1 day cool down for duration of early access) Ability to right click resources in resource chest and designate desired amount to move to inventory. Allow 30% clipping of placable building pieces for more seemless construction. (Such as on cliff side platforms.) Enclosed structures provide protection from elements or visual indicator that shows protection in effect. Option to rename ship in case of spelling errors. Option to unclaim personal ships. Ability to save paint template for ease of repainting replaced ship planks. Map table placable that shows designated course to everyone who interacts with the table after Captain designates destination. Paint that doesn't look like a thin white wash and actually paints the ship solid colors. Ability to Unseat or Reseat All Cannon Crew. Paint thinner to remove paint in a section. Allow ships to tow via deck mounted grapple (only works on unanchored ships and factors in ships total weight.) Ability to change the user indicator on the map to something that doesn't blend in with player claims. Option to allow Allied company members to use cannons and ballista. Option to allow Allied Company to use spawn or place bed/ temp spawn on ship. Allow nearby crafting stations to craft using Ship Resource Chest within range.

Pathetic, not going to keep repeating myself but nice wall of text I read a little.

I don't see how you can say it's not sleazy when it's not advertised or even hinted at. Even if it were advertised, I don't understand why it should be expected to lose your progress before an official release, even in an online game running servers. Why wouldn't the company just make a new server at official release and let people keep their progress from the EA period? Especially in a game requiring so much investment and enduring hardships and setbacks like this one.

A couple of weeks for NA PVE? Wow its a good thing EU networks arent much worse than NA from what ive seen. They really should just wipe the server and delete the game. That would be worth my 30 buck rather than hearing their excuses and delays and even their bs.

Yeah, disorganized children lol. In all my years of gaming I have never seen an EA, Alpha or Beta this F'ed up with so little Dev interaction with their own website. Its pretty much anyones guess as to WTF is going on at any given point. Other players have provided more information than the Devs have. Poor planning and management has killed this game before it ever started. What a mess.

So I am one of those who is having issues to the point that I cant even play the game due to issues between Grapeshot and steam and I hear today unless you have 4 players in a company you can't own land or claim land because SOMEONE had the BRIGHT IDEA of screwing with the land claim system today …. Nice Job GUYS WAY TO CONTINUE TO KILL A GAME THAT HAD SUCH POTENTIAL!!!! CANNOT WAIT FOR SKULL AND BONES!!!! PLEASE HURRY UBISOFT!!!!!

Well honestly I feel like they pushed people into the PVP PTR when they took down the EU pve server and then the NA pve server, now I think they feel they have the numbers to run both pvp servers and that’s why the NA server is being placed on hold for a couple weeks instead of the new pvp server. If NA pve players move to the EU pve server then what is really the point in bringing back up the NA pve server in the 1st place ?
  42. 1 point
HaHa, very true. If they do another wipe Atlas is doomed completely. For now i am happy with few players on Empires, dont need hundred gankers while building up
  43. 1 point
You've missed the point. If you only have enough hardware to run 4 of the 6 server types you want to have in EA, and it takes X weeks to get hardware, wouldn't you have ordered the hardware to be ready in time for your 4/11 mega-patch launch? I can see maybe only putting up one Empire server because everyone was saying they weren't going to play on it. But still, what kind of project planning is it to not have your hardware ready? Has nothing to do with ptr.

Unless they change something major I probably wont bother starting over. I only play pve so its partly my fault for being bored I suppose. I built all the ships solo, got my little farm going and even had a small group of animals on standard rates. Then I logged in one day, looked around, and thought "Now what?" As far as I can tell the ptr pve server is exactly like the old server. Been there done that, ate the sandwich. Ark 2600 hours or so invested. Atlas 162 hours and ran out of things to do. But, to be fair as the brits say, most of my other steam games dont break 50 hours. So got my fun out of my purchase with no regrets.

I have a better idea. How about totally changing the game to get rid of the whole having to defend bases thing. Allow us to park beside an island and our ships have 100 times more HP than present. But this would have an invisible timer. You can't just run to an island and anchor and be safe. If somebody is pursuing you, they know your timer isn't done and they can still sink you. Also, get rid of the damage numbers so that people are not aware of how much damage they are doing. Make the game about having a Fleet of ships, not a base. Making a temp base with crafting stations...something small, should be very easy. Decay should happen, and be fast. Structures disappear in 72 hours, period. You only set one up to build a ship, and repair them. No tames needed...your crew does the gathering with you. The biggest problem with this game is the fact that you have to build and defend bases, and no matter how big you build, people can easily knock it down. One way or another, the focus needs to be on getting ships out to sea, exploring with those ships, and fighting with those ships.

(I would like to begin by saying i'm european/german and my grammar is not perfect) How about the implementation of NPC Royal Naval Forces (ships/soldiers/fortresses) for instance spanish, british, french, etc. in the game ? Royal Naval Fleets were highly trained to hunt and destroy pirateships. Could be a more realistic challenge for players compared to the damned ships. They secured their trading routes with heavy warships and had fortresses on key positions wich could be raided.(PVE and PVP) Fortresses are already implemented(discovery area) and could be manned by NPC Naval Forces. Players then have to conduct a tactical sea and land fight in order to get to the gold/treasure inside the fortress. As you all know the spaniards melted tons of gold in the new world in order to transfer it to Europe with the biggest armored galleons - irresistible for buccaneers. A small hint for me on this topic - The ferryman at the freeport wearing a british royal navy officers uniform(commander or captain)of the late 18th century. One can buy this as a skin. I'm playing on my PVE server160slots with our community, therefore it's not so easy to estimate what PVP fans prefer in the case and their opinion is essential because the focus is on PVP. This game has really great potential , it's a mix of fantasy and reality aspects,so it's difficult to predict what the developers will focus on in the future. In conclusion , it is the affair of the developers anyway and i wish them many good creative hours (they proved it with ark)

Love this idea would also like to see a full blown bounty system and skill line. Players could place a bounty on a pk'er that would go on the bounty board allowing for player with the BH skill line to hunt the player for rewards. As well a player justice/jail system akin to Archeage would also be really cool.

An insurance system that allowed you to get your ship back, if you are not in Outlaw, or Most wanted Outlaw status, would also help, though this might only cover the hull...as in the ship itself. Star Citizen has a good system planned for this. Hull Insurance (covers the basic ship) Upgrade insurance (covers what you add to the basic ship) cargo insurance (covers the cargo in the ship) Something similar could work here. For balancing, you could get a certain percentage of the resources to build a new ship if you are in Outlaw, but not Most Wanted Outlaw status. The insurance could be a token that you place in the shipyard that builds the ship, and adds the components to finish it, as in the planks, masts and sails. Upgrade insurance would require you to declare every added component, and pay accordingly, so doors, ceilings, walls, cannon, etc.. Ammo would be included in cargo insurance. This would also be charged based on what you are declaring. You are not required to insure anything, or everything.
