News from the Cabin In this Captain’s Log, your new Community Team will be emerging from below deck to introduce themselves and also to touch on exciting new developments for ATLAS. We look forward to sharing further details on our roadmap with players in the near future, but for now, whet ye appetites on these tasty morsels! First up! I'm Chismebeard (Ye can jus' call me Chisme, which is Gossip in Spanish, pronounced chees-meh) yer new Senior Community Manager o'er at Grapeshot Games! As we ramp up the crew for the new content we plan to bring you in the coming months, you can expect Nami and me to communicate your feedback and excitement back to main base. Here's a wee bit o’ background about me: I've been working in the gaming industry for over 5 years and have experience in building up nonprofits. When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me playing monster-catching games, farming games, and first-person shooters. I've been playing ATLAS with the development crew over the last few months and can say it's a game I'll be sinking many hours into. I'm excited to get to know this awesome community of scallywags! I can be reached directly on our Forums as Chismebeard & Discord as Chismebeard#4432. Ahoy Pathfinders~! Nami here sailing in on the waves and happy to be a part of the ATLAS crew! I'll be on deck with ChismeBeard as another Community Manager. First-mate, doctor, shipwright, archaeologist, musician, sniper, cook, navigator... whatever we need, I'm here to help! Okay, maybe not navigator... unlike my namesake, I'm directionally challenged. But you know, as I like to quote, "there is little difference between being lost and exploring" and we're excited to be exploring all the new things coming to ATLAS with all of you! When I'm not getting lost at sea or trying to outdo Chisme's “chees-eh” puns, you can find me watching anime (You can probably guess one of them, shishishi), working out (manning the sails is great for the arms!), and of course, playing games! I love platinuming RPGs, supporting feeders on MOBAs, being bad at matchmaking shooters, dungeon running in MMOs, and living out my own version of Groundhog's Day in survival games lol. Fun fact: I drew a life-size Jack Sparrow for my art final back in high school. I'm sure that qualifies me as a pirate. Primus here -- I recently joined the Grapeshot team as the lead designer for ATLAS. My focus is to steer the new vision for the game (more below), creating a busy roadmap of content as we steer it towards 1.0. Prior to working on ATLAS, I led the player experience, economy, and crafting efforts for the fantasy game Wildstar. At Riot Games, I was a game designer working on new player experience, matchmaking, and the ranking system. Much of my career has been spent developing gameplay that enhances how people competitively work together and against each other in a simulated world. During my free time, I play a myriad of game genres, including strategy, shooters, co-op survivals, and more! You can find me commenting in the Forums as Gortok - feel free to say Hi! As mentioned on Monday, we’ve redesigned the whole World Map and today, we wanted to give Pathfinders more insight on some of the upcoming changes. The new map was designed with the goal to drive more interactions between players -- both competitive and cooperative! The Golden Age islands are moving to the map center, surrounding it with a high-density ring of lawless territory, and adding sparse island outskirts where players can claim island territory to have a lower-risk experience. This will reduce the amount of sailing between core islands, incite more conflict, and give more opportunity for Companies to capture and control water lanes for the upcoming Trade Route system -- but we’re getting ahead of ourselves on that new system -- we’ll reveal details in the weeks ahead!!   2. Yeah, I would have never touched breeding had they not made those changes. With levels, the higher the wild level (level before tame + taming bonus) the higher the stats. The stats are random so you will not necessarily get the same values per animal. This gives incentive to tame multiple lvl 30 animals (Wild level 44 (might be 45 cant remember if its +14 or +15 on perfect tame)) in order to push for better stats. When you breed, you have a chance of stats passing from mom/dad to the cub. Ideally, you would combine say your highest stat X (HP as example) m/f with your highest stat Y (say Melee for example) f/m and hope the baby picks up both stats. If not rinse repeat until it gets both. Then take your next highest stat Z (Weight as example) and breed that with your new HP/Melee max stat bear and hope to pickup the hp, melee, and weight. Etc, etc until you have all your best stats in a single bear. The total of stats of an animal will determine its wild level, combining max stats is how you push the base WL. (I think we finished at WL 120ish (0 muts) last time I played, which means the bear was lvl 120 right out the erm.. gate) Once you have that max bear, you breed en masse to get a bunch of stock and to start mutation hunting. After 20 mutations its much more difficult to get a new mutation, so what I would do is go until say I got HP Mutation 1, then start a new (separate breed line) which would focus on HP until I had 20 of that. Repeat (separate breed line) for the other mutations until you have a bear with 20 muts in a single stat (at peak I had ~50 bears per mutated stat lines). Then combine all those for the monster bears. The big thing with mutations is you should always breed a X/20 mutation with a 0/20 mutation, as the mutations from the mother + father are "passed" (even if the stat doesnt pass on) to the baby... so a 5/20 mother and 5/20 father would net a 10/20 baby, which can get out of hand fast. (We had a "dirty" line with like 800 mutations at one point, but not the stats. This is also why I would kill so many cubs. This is beyond your initial breeding and is the "end game" from a breeding perspective. Stats are less important for 1st or 2nd breeding as the imprint bonus (30% damage, 30% damage taken reduction when imprinted rider is riding, plus stat bonuses) is very valuable starting out. Stat bonuses from imprints do not transfer to new cubs, its only the base stats when its born (I would put 2 folders in the inventory with base stats, so I knew who had what) Other than that only other pointers I can think of would be, when the babies pop you have to claim it (whoever claims it will imprint on it, and will have to do the additional imprints for more bonus), you have about 1-2min before itll die from starvation. So you claim, open inventory, stuff food in, then disable wander. (Animals are default to wander when born). If you got any other questions give a shout and good luck!

  4. ok so i had a few more and this is for animals/tames Giant lizard: acts like the Megalina but it can spit and the bite posions you! Shark: Normal sharks while the ones we have can be "Razortooth shark" Crocodile: A Normal size one the acts like the Sarco. the one we have in game could be called "Grand Crocodile" Gorilla: Can tame, gather plants fibbers , throws you and can hit like a Truck! Dingos: Can be tamed, are nice guard dogs, Nice pets for ships , Help you find Treasure! and just look cute! found nearly anywhere in small packs. they act like Hyenas from ark GIANT CENTIPEDE: found around the large Jungles and Desert islands. they are Very large almost as big as a Basilisk and they are Super strong but drop a nice amount of loot! Hippo: able to tame, can Swim nicly , Move on land nicly , will Retk you and everything you love! are strong! Deer: can't tame but give a Nice amount of meat and Hide! Toads: Large Man eating toads with Teeth , 4 eyes and have a Nice Range attack. Can tame but its hard! Mire Squid: SMALL SIZE found in more Smaller Bodys of water like swamps or even out at sea, they can grab you and they will try to eat you! they are weak though! Sea Monster: found out at sea and looking like a Loch Ness monster but will pop its head out of the water and may try to attack a boat! drop a nice amount of meat! Prowler: a large Bird that looks kinda like a Rock drake and a Parrot and they can fling Razor sharp feathers out to cut you! Razorfeather: a small cousin of the Razortooth, the Razor Feather is a medium size predator that has Razor sharp Feathers on its arms and tail, a nice Bite or even a slash with the arm feathers are able to cut through flesh easily. Can tame. Needs tier 3 though! Fin Wing: A mid size Bird that's able to be tamed, they love the water and like to prey on fish and can even go deeper underwater around were angler fish are. while they can't fly they have a Short distance glide and drive in the water very well! Giant rats: they can't be tamed but they can spread diseases and like to spawn on islands! and Pirate/Army of the damned classes! Pirates! Sailor: most common and they are the Lowest rank (Armor: cloth)(weapons: Spears , Knuckles, Bow, Cutlass and pike) Solder: Less common and usually guard bases and go on patrols. (armor: Hide cloths but have cloth cap) (weapons: Spears , Knuckles , Cutlass , pike , crossbow , bow, flintlock and Shield)(Rare weapons: Carbin and Blunderbuss) Heavy: Moves very slowly and have armor that allows them to handle many attacks but they attack slowly. (armor: Plated). (weapons: Mace, or Cutlass with shield) Bomber: a rare troop found mostly guarding bases and they have a Bandolier and bags full of bombs that he will try to chuck at you! but if you shoot the bandolier, he will do BOOM they will also try to blow up buildings if they are yours!. (cloths: Cloth but has a Bandolier and bags)(weapons: Bombs) Archer: Moves around quietly and uses bows or crossbows to attack. (cloths: Fur)(weapons: Bow "can uses fire arrows" or crossbow) Captain: a Boss level enemy that is strong and they are armored to the teeth! (cloths: Plated armor but wears a Leather hat)(weapons: Two cutlass's , two Flint locks, or a Blunderbuss!. drops alot of loot and if killed. pirates will set a bounty on your and they will come after you in ships and on your islands! Army of the Damned! Damned Sailor: They are just Skeletons! they are weak and they are Cannon fodder! but with enough of them they can kill you! (weapons: Hands, tools, Spears , Club or rarely a Cutlass) Damned Solder/Archer/Trooper: they are they main army that takes over islands and does the Damned's biting. (weapons, Spears , pikes , Cutlass , Throwing knifes, crossbows , bows)(rare weapons: Flintlocks , blunderbuss and Carbin) Damned Guard: the heavy's of the Army and they are sent to destroy anything that opposes them! (weapons: Mace)(very rare weapons: Mobile Swivel Cannon) (can't uses) Damned Bomber/destroyer: these guys are the Main troops sent to destroy buildings and pathfinders homes or ships!: (weapons: Bombs and Fire Bombs) (bomber weapons: Gunpowder barrel, they will attempted to Jog at you and Blow themselves up! and anything around them, but if you kill them without the barrel going off! you get a Free gunpowder barrel) Damned Necromancer: A ghostly skeleton that has electricity Flowing through him and is Hovering above the ground he has a Ability to zap you to do damage, heal troops by zapping them and Summon a Army of skeletons. (weapons: Zap! and heal) (Skeletons: each time he spawns them around 4 at a time, they spawn in level 1 and only there hands! they can damage any building but it takes a While, if you kill the Necromancer and his skellys are still out and about, they will die) Damned Soul: the Poor souls that thought that stealing anything from the damned and getting caught is a fate worse then Death! they turn into these Monsters with Contorted faces , Long teeth , Large underbite , sharp bony back , and Deadly claws! the poor soul feels everything and is forced to kill those that they care about, and must summon their own kind to help kill pathfinders. (weapons Claws , jaws and leap attack) (AI: they would have almost the same AI as the Nameless from Ark Aberration but has a few differences. 1: they have no armor , 2: they only summon each other and 3: they look different) Damned Animals: these are animals cursed by the army of the Damned for whatever reason, they have white glowing eyes, the Ora around them, and look bloody, they will attack anything that's not "damned" (type ANY) Damned Warlock: these big guys are large and are the ones that Curse people and are leaders of large ships and armies, they hold a Staff that allows them to shoot powerful orbs that can destroy buildings, ships and People! (basically cannon balls) and they can boost their troops to be stronger! (weapons: Warlock staff shoots damned cannon balls!)

  6. Has anyone else running private servers with custom maps had problems with the seamonster versions of the whales just not spawning at all? If so perhaps you know a fix?
  7. You kind of removed all of what I said that supported my point and only left the part that supported your point. Yes, a pirate game would have sailing, anyone that would think it doesn't is not too bright, but that wasn't my point at all. This game has sailing (and yes, many don't enjoy the sailing) required before you can do many activities, but it is just a means of travel most of the time, not really an activity that many would chose to do for it own sake, hence the game is not a sailing game, it is a pirate game. The reason for the distinction? Removing some of the sailing would not damage the game, because it is a pirate game, not a sailing game. Removing the pirates from a pirate game, unquestionably a bad choice. Removing the requirement to sail to do just about any activity (like find treasure or go kill that monster) from a pirate game, not that big a deal. So why the big objection to maybe adding a portal or some other device that lets you get to where you need to go faster? And maybe we need to make the distinction between PvE and PvP. For PvE I think it would do nothing but improve the game. Don't care, don't know about PvP. If there were less sailing, there would be more pirate like activities, that is my point. Not that a pirate game should not have sailing. The other point I made that you removed, is that if the game is based around sailing, and it is. Why the heck isn't having a base on a boat a reasonable thing to do? I explained that in my other post, why not. But that really should be a thing in this game, and that it is not, makes it not even that much of a pirate game as it should be. Who ever heard of pirates that didn't live on their boat? So yes, there are two ways to fix this game. The "Altas is a sailing game" crowd say make the sailing the more enjoyable. But some of us that think this is a pirate game think maybe just have less sailing. Because I think both camps pretty much agree, the sailing part of this game sucks after you've sailed about 100 hours.

  9. i got some ideas for the game Animals Gorillas: (walk like the Megapithecus from ARK but has the same abilities as bigfoot! and they are as strong as a Lion) Gator's (just a normal size gator that attacks you) Shark 's (the shark in game could be called "Razorsharks" and are found in the deeper parts of the sea but rarely found in the top!. these sharks look like just normal sharks and they are weaker but easier to face) Komodo dragon (these would have nearly the Same Ai to the Megalanda from ark but this one has large bone spikes and a large frill and can spit poison and bits you for a plage effect cassowary: (these very hostile birds are similar to the ostrich but they are brighter in color and and they can uses their claws to slash you) Seal: (despite the way they look they are really mean found mostly in the snowy parts of the world but also can be found also every wear they will attack you! Damned Animals/Pirates (these animals or pirates are cursed by the Damned and they have the same particles around them and have glowing green eyes) note this happens when a damned (blank) kills another animal , pirate or even pathfinder! and it will turn into a Damned) (kinda like zombie's) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NPC types! Some NPC's spawn at Crazy levels so i think the max should be 250 but here's some ideas for them Pirate Sailor: they are the most basic attacker's there weapons are (cutlasses , brass knuckles , flintlocks , spears and pikes) and they are kinda weak! and wear only cloth! Pirate musketeers: these guys wear a mix of leather armor and have a metal helmet on! they are kinda the rifleman in the group and they can uses (carbins , blunderbuss and flintlocks only) Pirate Bomber: these guys wear cloth armor but have a Bandolier on there left and right full of bombs! they will throw them at you but if you shoot the bandolier he will go BOOM! as well as anything near him! Pirate Ravager: they wear a full set of leather armor but have a cloth cap! these guys can have any weapon! from brass knuckles to crossbow''s Pirate Bowman: these guys wear fur armor and mostly bows but they also can use crossbows and can uses fire arrows! Heavy pirate: (change) they only use maces and shields. they cant uses guns Pirate Captain: these guys wear full leather and can have Two flintlocks , two cutlass's , or a blunderbuss and they are the leaders! -------------------------------------------------------------- Army of the Damned! damned Sailor: these guys are wearing cloth and have the damned look and they run at you (like zombies) Damned Bomber: these skeleton have a bandolier of bombs and he can throw them at you! Damned Demolisher: these poor souls have a bandolier with bombs but hold a explosive barrel and if they attack your base they will run up and blow up! but if you shot the barrel anything near him will be gone! Damned Necromancer: these ghost look like a floating skeleton with electricity around them and they can revive or heal nearby damned and can shock you( it can't stun you but dose hurt) and can summon level 1 skeletons to attack you! Damned Guard Gole: these Demon looking monsters fly around and they will try to maul you! they like to tear up your sails but they are weak Damned Beast!: this Monster Looks like a Mix of tons of Corpses and a squid he has a large Mouth with thousands of teeth and has a club tentacle that has spikes and a shock tentacle that he uses to zap you! but if you shoot his mouth of hit his back it will deal 3X damage! Damned Camps! they can spawn ether Under the sea or On land and most of the animals there will be damned and will act like a hivemind to kill uninfected pirates , animals or pathfinder's!

  11. Less tedious absolutely, but if the larger pieces retain the same functionality (snap points), then the benefit to performance will be pretty small. For a 4x4, the underlying geometry can be simpler, but vertices are pretty cheap. To retain the snap points, there would still need to be the same number of bones with rotations and positional offsets. For texture, you could either tile the 1x1 texture 16 times across the object, create a monster texture 16x as large, or reduce the level of detail on the texture, which will look pretty bad next to a full-res tile. One of those is best for instancing, one is best for streaming, and one is better for memory, but they all hit specific hardware harder (RAM, CPU, GPU, or network bandwidth) The only thing that would significantly improve performance would be reducing resolution on the textures, or reducing the number of snap points on larger objects.
  12. One of the things that I love about the game is the creativity that the building system unleashes, but at the same time, it can get a little out of control... Looking around on the PVP servers, the sailing ships that we have resemble more of the Ironclads of the 19th century with all of the Walls, ramps and ceilings adorning them, and they're bristling with 2 or 3 stories of rear and forward-facing cannons, and this needs to be curtailed. Cannons should be mountable on Gunports, and gunports only, or introduce a block and tackle type building block that would prevent them from being placed anywhere except on a Ship deck, a Floor block, or a stone ceiling (to allow for use on forts). Fighting a battle with another ship has almost nothing to do with manoeuvring skills, tactical use of the winds and bringing guns to bear, it's all about running at or away from your foe with a Frankenstein's monster of a sailing vessel belching cannonballs from its bow... It's also an easy exploit to get around the ship slowing down when the gunports are opened (still not quite sure why that is).
  13. Well, here's the kicker: I'd been playing on PvE (because I value sleep). Played on PvP and left, not because of the PvP... because I frankly never experienced actual PvP, just PvMyStuff while I'm sleeping/working/adulting. I like PvP. Real PvP. When I think of ATLAS or even ARK, I just don't think, "Wow yeah I'd really like to PvP in that game." I don't want to build a boring reinforced box to house my crap. Why give me a cool building system to suck the creativity out of it because I have to build a ridiculous looking ship to be viable in PvP combat? I think, "Dude, I want to build a badass looking base and cool ships. Because I can." If I want to slaughter (or be slaughtered) players, I'll go play PUBG or whatever. Even WoW PvP was great. RIP. Here, every "PvP" situation was: *Log in* "Why am I naked... oh this again." *Build sloop* *Go get the stuff from the hidden caches* *Find new island* The fun in PvP for me is the rush of knowing you're facing another human being in digital combat. Maybe you're evenly matched. Maybe you're not. Winning or losing almost doesn't matter because either way you gave it your best. ATLAS PvP lacks any ambition for that. Why face someone when you can just wait until they're not around and take their stuff? That never even crossed my mind to do during my time on PvP (back to societal degradation, I guess). It just seemed totally cowardly and most of all un-fun to me. If I want to break into houses, I'll go sneakthief in Skyrim. At least the NPCs don't log off. I don't really care if I lose stuff because someone actually fought me for it. I do care when my biggest threat is supposed to be flying lions. If I log into my 4 years inactive (... but still active... should probably cancel that) WoW account, my stuff is there. My main from launch is there. I wouldn't be surprised if I logged onto freaking EQ if my characters are still there, assuming I could ever remember my account info. Couple weeks gone from the PvE server and poof. Even people who log in every day are mysteriously losing ships they've physically moved within a couple of days. This is kind of a fundamental problem and people who are already fed up are throwing in the towel because it's making the game a job even for PvE players. And it's really only there on PvE because the devs can't figure out how to curb foundation/pillar spam (and maybe to save server memory). Hell, even before the wipe it was kind of fun island hopping and checking out peoples' bases and maybe coming across something abandoned and finding some loot. Even ARK is better on single player. At least there you have a fighting shot at all of the content with hoards of meticulously bred dinos. Solo players and casual groups are effectively locked out of end game content here because many of us simply don't have the hours in a day to live, breathe, think ATLAS. For us, unless something changes, there will eventually be a brick wall where you can choose to farm yourself to death or just leave and go play something that's actually fun. This is where they are failing at an MMO to the core. The content is just not there. Hopefully, this upcoming announcement parts the clouds and unicorns pooping rainbows come down from the sky (... although the way things are looking, there is a literal possibility of this) to give us a kickass game... But the realist (no pun intended) in me thinks... probably not. Fundamentally, ATLAS is not an MMO. Sure, the map is massive, the player capacity (supposedly... we don't actually know) is massive. But in reality, it's a cluster server multiplayer with fantasies of being a pirate MMORPG. It's like calling Fortnite an MMO because a crapload of people are online all the time. It checks very few of the boxes that make an MMO an MMO... It's just kind of... meh right now in almost every aspect of the game. Unfortunately, it kind of is ARK reskinned. Only problem is, they have effectively sucked all the good of ARK out of ATLAS, with the single exception being the building system. They haven't copied and improved. Hell, it's not even looking like they've considered ANY of the great mechanics of great MMOs past. Basically, ATLAS doesn't do anything for me that something else does better. If I want hardcore survival, I've got The Long Dark. If I want FPS, I'm enjoying Anthem. If I want PvP, I can go play a FPS PvP or head to Cyrodil in ESO. If I want an MMO, I could resurrect my WoW characters or play some ESO. If I want to sail non-ridiculous ships with proper sails on a cool ocean, I could go back to some Black Flag. If I want to just murder monsters and have an actual storyline, FFIV, Monster Hunter, Witcher III. If I want to build cool shit and maintain a hoard of animals: ARK. Hopefully, they can turn this ship around (pun intended).

Let's be very clear: I never asserted that they've turned it into a perfect game or even a monster hit, and that was never the point. Why do people feel the need to look at things only in polar extremes and regard a game only as either a total success or a total failure? NMS is neither, and the mere fact it is not the latter is indeed a success story and is the reason I use it as an example for Atlas to shoot for. Atlas is never going to be some huge mega hit, that is almost certainly off the table and if that is the only bar of success that counts for you, then this is a more nuanced discussion than you're going to want to be involved in. The point from my OP is that NMS has been made into a viable, fun and engaging game. You may not personally have enjoyed it long term, but the overall trendline of the game's activity upwards supports this notion, even the reviews you mentioned do. Note that steam reviews all time for the game are 53% positive while recent reviews are 61% positive. They are heading in the right direction. I am asking future posters to refrain from using this thread to post critiques of No Man's Sky. Doing so is about your personal preferences regarding that game, and that is not the point I was making in using it as an example, but how a game can recover from a bad start. Posting your likes and dislikes of the game is getting into the weeds of a different discussion.
  15. Technichally, adding life to freeports isn't any different from adding wildlife or monster spawns in the world. In this case it's just adding spawnpoints for human npcs. Certainly something to add sometime in the future.
  16. They aren't focused on single-player at all! They are focused on giving what people are begging for. Official is totally infested with mega alphas and cheaters. Unofficial has a bad rap because of the insane stupidity that goes on with Ark, and Rust.. ie thousands of servers that are poorly maintained by cheating garbage admins. So the only place people are willing to go to play is single player. Crappy, easily attained servers are what created that monster! Grapeshot is just trying to hold on to their biggest group of followers! It's easy to throw blame at a developer for the direction a game is going. But the truth is that the unofficial world, and the modding community, are what drives a game's direction in a venue like this. It's up to QUALITY server owners to maintain quality and clean up that tarnished name. And again... making servers easier to host, either by giving us easy access to info or by making them less hardware dependent, is NOT going to help the unofficial world at all!
  17. Shit they need to add caves in general. Overhanging rocks and a crevice dont cut it. Need a lawless cave system for close quarters pvp when the 6 shooter comes out. Put special drops and monsters in there to bring in the players. Maybe even a ranking system and titles based on pvp kill count, monster kills and amount of said loot picked up
  18. Has anyone noticed this powerstone island to be over-spawning animals and monsters? We've done a fly by of all the powerstone Islands and they all show a regular, ordinary amount of spawns. They all have 1 hydra or 1 dragon. However Mnt_Y_EU_PVE always spawns 3 hydras(immediately after a Dino wipe is done), and the number of animal/monster spawns is easily 3 times that of all the other powerstone Islands. Navigating the island on foot is absolute chaos. If I were to use rhino's as a measuring stick, there would be something spawned every 2 rhino's apart (or less) Is this a config issue, or a bug with the island itself?

I actually have to agree with the OP - Granted I havent read his entire post but I did see him complaining(and rightfully so) about content behind locked behind having to kill the kraken and whatever else. Locking content/items behind a wall that most if not all small companies can't complete kills the update for some. I know for myself and the 2 buddies I played with had zero chance of killing the Kraken much less killing the bosses on the islands for the keystones. They release the submarine but guess what? You gotta kill the Kraken to unlock it. I mean really? That is just straight bad decision making. Hey lets release new content but you cannot access it! That is not good. It's not crying, or what not, hell call it crying if you want but it is 100% bad on their part to block content or crafting items or whatever behind having to kill the toughest monster in the game that requires many ships and people to accomplish. Will they potentially change it? Who knows, only they know. I just have to agree with his sentiment with locking things behind having to kill the toughest creature in the game and for some small companies like ours, we simply cannot do it.

  23. I'd be happy with just normal NPC ships. I have a guess as to why they went with the floaty fog monster ships, that being because they don't have a dedicated AI programmer, so they needed an NPC ship that didn't have to obey things like wind direction or physics to make it easier on them, and just drop it under the banner "Because Magic!" So I have a feeling we won't see normal NPC ship enemies in the near future, because they're too short staffed to make them anything but either janky and unrealistic or realistic-adjacent but not very challenging. All that being said, I think it would be worth the effort for them to do NPC sailing ships, especially for PVE servers. I'd love to see it and I think it could add a lot to the game. Fighting the SoD is OK, but it isn't as satisfying as exchanging proper broadsides with another ship that you could board and blunder and scuttle or take for your own. I mean, if you're going to say you're a pirate game that's kind of a reasonable expectation right?
  24. The fire elemental is everything wrong when it comes to design a monster . It can fly , very large agro range , have 40K hp , have super armor that reduced both piercing and explosion attack along with a homing waterproof fireball AOE attack that burn through 20% HP regardless of armor and will kill 1k HP animal within 6-7 hits . The stun mechanic that supposed to help when fighting it won't work most the time , tried spam arrows , canister shot ,balista , boulder but it won't get stun and you usually can't outrun its homing fireball , also you only deal a little more damage during rain which is nothing cus his HP pool just so large . If you ever want an impossible boss fight , throw all player inside a room with a single Fire elemental and watch it roast the entire crew . Most people just opt for luring it away instead of fighting head on but Fire elemental have fixed patrol route and will always try to fly back to where it was . Compare to other minor monster on Power Stone island : +Cyclop : can hit its eye easily and actually killable with some coordinate along with balista if you are near shore . +Gorgon : killable . +Rock elemental : Armor that resistance even to explosives but at least can kite away so you won't have to deal with it . Fire elemental is just in the league of its own . Suggestion : make stun more consistent , for example when it forms the fireball and you shoot at it , it will be stunned and cancel its attack . Remove the homing fire ball , replace with a fireball that travel faster . Remove the super armor because it already have such large HP pool .   25. My company, Krakengard, and I have been enjoying your server for a couple of weeks now. However there are a couple of issues, the other night my buddy and I were in A1 taming a male lvl27 wolf and we noticed the taming speed seemed to be x1. In the process of trying to tame it, it was accidentally killed with errant crossbow shot at 96%. This was our first larger tame so we were both a bit miffed. So we thought it was taking too long tame and I noticed I was barely getting any XP even though I had the "New Discovery" xp buff on. We verified the lower rates by harvesting a tree and only getting a tenth of what we normally get on the servers. I sailed us down to A2 and there I was getting the normal x10 gathering and XP rates. The next issue I have is the Fountain of Youth. How are we supposed to defeat the PvE monster without a huge company and alliances? On official we did the dragon but it was 4 brigs fully loaded with company/alliance members shooting it. How are we supposed to kill that with 4 man companies? Is there a mod that takes care of this?
