Ah! back to the "we've wiped or neutralized all those close to us, we want to wipe or neutralize those further away" argument. You do know sailing speed will only help you in the short term, once those are wiped or neutralized you'll be asking again for faster sailing or ship teleportation to further your reach. I don't know what the answer is, but asking for more speed isn't it.

Yeh like a sort of pre auto demo period, so 10days later it becomes free for all, then on the 12th day it auto demos. Giving people 48 hours to loot it.

Please use real time stamps on Company logs. Your artificial calendar means nothing to anyone. Plus it is not even accurate to the age of characters as 32850 days are in 90 years. It would make a lot more sense to have actual real dates and maybe UTC times on events in the log.

@Martyn I agree that things should be cleaned up for game performance and to make space. I was just asking if we could have more time to explore/loot before autowash. As far as PVP goes, I love the pace of PVE. It’s like dinking around in the backyard.

How about both of you agree to disagree and shut the hell up.

Awe PvE and PvP getting along. How cute. Yeah PvP requires a ton of ingots. I made 12,000 over the weekend. I expect those ingots to be gone in the next day or so.

Bodies disappear when logging off? That's news to me. Is this a PvE thing? On official PvP servers when you log off your avatar lays down and goes to sleep. The body stays there sleeping until you log in next, get killed or moved. My brother went on vacation for a couple weeks so I took his body and locked him up in a cage so he has a nice surprise when he wakes up.

Can only talk for PVE in Case of alloy requirements, as we Dont Need Real Coast defense. Just for ships And Gates. I Dont mind Islands Lack of berries if you could actually plant apples or so to get the missing Vitamins.

If you're on a pve server.. maybe you'd do better in a pvp one. The auto destruct feature cleans up the server off all the mess non players leave behind, frees up space for other active players to use and for resources to spawn. If people cleaned the areas after looting the abandoned houses, autodemo wouldnt even be needed. But it is clear that besides me and a dozen others.. noone cleans old houses. Your time is so precious. We need autodemo and we also need to see our own demo timers and esp our own tame timers. It's messed up developing for sure.

Of course I have no experience of pvp.. I've only be playing pvp games for longer than you've been alive. I know exactly what you want, you just won't admit to it.

Sotd do seem to hang around on the boarders a lot. Enter a new zone at a 45 degree or less, at least you can escape back in to the zone you came from. Carry extra planks, plenty of mats in the resources box and make sure you have a repair hammer. oh and if your carrying animals make sure they are on passive, funny watching you elephant charge of you ship after a sotd...

If it's a big company or structure and I see the timer really low I tend to note it down or place a marker on my map so I know where it is and time. I also place a bed if I can and work out the time when it ends and put that for name of the bed. I also like this hunting around loot, infact I found a big base the other day with unclaimed animals in their back yard. I wanted to move from my home grid because of severe lag issues and I have decided to move into their residence or what's left of it. The only problem for me is they have 2 gallions sitting here outside and I can't place a new shipyard so I must wait another 10 days for them to vanish hence why I had another thread about wanting to claim these ships with the timer going down. Some people might disagree with looting demolish buildings, I do get guilty but then think this is part of the game also, there could be many reasons they don't come online for 10 days but if you don't do it someone else will unfortunately. Generally I'm all for helping others, i'll give free stuff away just to be kind but yes when it comes to demolish structures I like to root through the cupboards and draws just like yourself.

So, going to add a counter point here, specifically regarding the armed Schooner versus SotD and the fact I don't think it's actually that out matched. I have built a Schooner with 10 gunports and medium cannons only in gunports (1 large handling sail & 1 small speed sail). A majority of the items are ~110-115% quality (which is not difficult to obtain with gray & green blueprints). The ship is not "armored" up with a ton of ceilings/roofs, other than a hump in the middle of the deck. As the ship leveled up, I only put points into Damage and Resistance. I think it's sitting at about level 32 right now with ~140% resistance and ~225% damage (from memory). I started out taking on fleets of SotD in my home grid and worked my way into a powerstone grid once I got 25+ levels on the ship. Keep in mind, I was solo with full NPC cannon crew. I have never lost a plank, a sail, or even a single one of my ceiling tiles. The only loss I've had so far was my NPC wheelman dying to cannon fire. By no means am I an expert Captain and have definitely screwed up turns or other stupid stuff like forgetting to open your gunports... With that being said, agility is very valuable in avoiding cannon fire from SotD. By adjusting your direction and speed constantly (easier with a handling sail) you can avoid 75% or more of the incoming fire. I'm sure there will be a point where the SotD levels are just to high for me to handle in just a lonely Schooner, but I've gotten a hella of a lot of mileage out of it so far. I do like the fleet mechanic because it is definitely more challenging and more loot drops from one engagement. Resistance is a fantastic stat to invest in, even for your hauler ships. You will take drastically less damage from SotD when you do run into them (honestly they lose interest really quickly). I do also think that you should get a 30-45 second buff upon zoning that would prevent distance SotD aggro (cancelled if you fire upon them) just because loading lag is a fact of life.

You should have a speed penalty but 40% is a bit harsh 20% would be better

I disagree. Atm the sotd fleets get "bored" of you so fast, you have to literally stop and swivel on the spot to keep them aggro'd on you. Unless you're afk sailing, sotd are absolutely no threat to you. Upgrade your ships planks for better defense. Stay at the wheel to evade. I will admit, that hitting a sotd fleet zoning in can be bad, last night I zoned into 2 galleons and 3 brigs, with 2 more brigs about 200m in. All of them pumping hot iron at me and they did about 3k damage to my planks. 5k to one or two. I just hit V on zoning.. and calmly turned full with the wind and sailed away. The stopped at an island and repaired.. then carried on. This is how bad it actually is now. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1773647042 I am fully stopped in the water and the sotd have lost aggro. And they are literally just out of max cannon range for medium cannons. If I could place large cannons on my chasers.. I could sink them whilst they were sailing "away" from me.

If you didn't care about winning or losing.. why are you demanding more speed, why does it matter if you get there faster to lose? Your argument makes no sense. You want to get to your enemies faster. So you can kill them faster. To then get to more enemies faster.. but what about their needs? Isn't your inability to sail faster their defence? Don't they have a right to that time period? Or is the game only here for you. You don't want to spend another 100 hours.. well bully for you. Maybe your "enemies" or "victims" don't want to spend another 500 hours rebuilding because people keep appearing out of nowhere to annihilate them. Building advance bases and employing more crew.. is part of the gameplay. Maybe instead of charging off to wipe people out, you should make alliances, organise with people to have friendly fights at designated places and times. That way, you won't need to keep sailing off to ignorantly beat someone to death with their own arms.. but that's what you really actually want. This is why people keep coming back to the I win Now button because that is, what you actually want. You just continually refuse to admit to it.

The time will vary as the auto-destruct occurs after server restart. So if 10 day timer ends and server restarts 5 minutes later then there is a 5 minute window. On the other hand if the game has just updated and servers restarted and someones structures timer ends then it may be a day or more before next restart. So the question is how long is a piece of string.
  19. 1 point
It doesnt autodestruct instantly. Plenty of time to loot.

I can fully understand, you not wanting to risk any of your ships, tames and other gear needed for raiding at any time other than when you are the one raiding. You have your, I presume, very secure home base where you feel safe. You just wish to fight and win, and you've done all you can within the games current confines, so you want the game to change so you can keep fighting, all perfectly understandable.

Realist, you make more dumb ass posts than anyone else here. The tragedy being that you are unequivocally the least qualified person to post any suggestion for Atlas. "Number, oh the numbers, they are lowering! Omg the game (that isnt released yet mind you) is failing! Omg i need my comfort console, where is my comfort console!" - mind of realist Lets set aside your absolute lack of experience and knowledge of Atlas for a sec. You are asking for an onerous amount of land to be added to a game about sailing. You would also like less sea, in a game about sailing. They are adding sea creatures, trenches, submarines etc. You are over here asking for continents and I can only assume trains and cars next. At what point do you acknowledge that you are not playing the wrong game. Perhaps you should go not play a different game. Maybe a more land based one. Maybe try not playing Ark for a year then check back. There likely still wont be continents, but we could really use a break from you not playing our sailing game.

That has always been the price of expansion, the risk of spreading yourself too thin. Sounds like an interesting challenge. It has the added benefit of not needing to change the games ship speeds.

Thanks for turning on 2x Friday morning as opposed to randomly on Saturday at 4am est. This needs to always be a thing!

Or you could, I don't know, build an outpost from which to attack those places from. The logistics of an operation like that might be an interesting thing to play in a game like this.

It would not matter if had x5 or anything. The people saying that would still not Come back. The ones committed to the game don't care to much what x rate is they would still keep playing cuz they are committed. Simple as that

On PvE servers before the recent change wild animals could not stand on your ship, if they tried they would harmlessly float above it, unable to do anything and would not add to the crew count. Couple that with a lot of people having issues with wild animals spawning inside their pens and an anchored galleon with just the top and bottom decks with no sails was the safest and best place to keep animals as it kept them from being attacked, required far fewer resources and needed less building parts for the server to send to clients, reducing lag. On PvP servers I would agree with you that keeping animals on ships would be a poor idea, but until the recent patch keeping animals on ships on PvE servers was a superior option to a pen, so plenty of people did just that. But whether or not it's a good idea to keep animals on ships is irrelevant, at least in the context of the current discussion. A bug had been found regarding claim timers of animals on ships and another related bug was found on regard to the decay timer on anchored ships. These are unintended mechanics that have caused players to lose substantial progress, and even once they have fixed those issues there's no guarantee that a future patch won't cause the same or a similar issue to arise. Hence my suggestion that we should be able to see the appropriate timers on our belongings so that if it does happen again we don't find out about it the same way we did this time around. And also because there's no real good reason we shouldn't be able to see those timers in the first place.

10 Knots minimum you say - 1 day later - 6 weight sail, 6 cargo rack, 99% loaded galleons all over the map. Nope, can't see a problem with this. (Sarcasm)

Tomorrow all our unofficial returns in the ARK. Developer shut down empty servers until December. In the new year, we are waiting for ATLAS 2.0. I hope you will figure out how to give each client to play your game!

With 1300 hours in game which means 10 hours/day since the launch you certainly can't understand players who play 3-4 hours a day (most of players). Its nice advice to plan your trips but that option have only people who play all day long so they can wait for better wind (or go zigzag across 10 sectors instead of going straight). So for these people there are only 2 options, they either have a good wind and they go or they have a bad wind and they don't (and you have to count with way back to your base too). For me its like good wind = going somewhere (3 grids max) vs bad wind = going offline. Edit: I've reported that BP sails bug month and half ago, still nothing. I lost hope in them fixing it

I totally agree with this I don't know what they were thinking adding this into the game when they want more people to return. If they really wanted it then put it in golden regions only but not every grid. I have lost count at how many times I've ran into a fleet of them with galleons and if a galleon gets a hit on you it can be game over in smaller ships. I'd be happy if there was none at all to be honest and rework how you get planks, cannons etc. When the fog comes in I stop immediately until its gone but if i have heavy weight i go along the server wall if i can. To many of these ships in the game, they are supposed to be rare not have fleets of them.

Decreasing the low wind ratio is a bad idea imo. It adds depth to pvp fights. If there was no low wind, why bother turning sails? hell why bother having AI on them while we're at it? I'm a good 1300 hours into atlas, I've always been a builder since ark and atlas allows me a whole new dynamic in those regards. Making it easier for a few isn't going to help the system currently in place. Many are getting around fine. The long journeys you do are suppose to be there. If we were able to just TP a boat or zip at mach speed across, the game would get boring reallllllly fast considering how fast you would run out of stuff to do. Atlas imo is turning out fine and the current sailing system works fine. Every time I see a post talking about sailing is boring or it takes too long: your either A not organized or B overweight like hell and what should be a 7-15 minute sail (light and good wind vs mid weight and poor'ish winds) is becoming a 30-45 minute endeavor. Soon enough they'll fix the BP sails to allow their stated speed increase and you'll have more options at a faster boat aside from current builds possible. Example: My armored combat birg skirts across a grid in about 5-10 minutes wind dependent. Its not super light weight and not overloaded either. Now compare this to my moronic crew member (that shall remain nameless) loaded a galleon with a shipment of metal for us. Problem is he was carrying 85% of his max weight. What should have been an honest 5 minute sail from one grid to another turned into a hour long venture of me guarding him with my sails at 25% open I'll agree though, yes it can be a bit boring on the open waters and yes going 5-7 grids (max you'll go) does take planning and time. When I plan long trips I take into account the wind, time it may take to get there and what can I do along the way. Maps, sunken ships and SOD's if they are good enough. So in turn I plot not a straight course but a curved course to take into account the wind. If thats not good enough for you, I've been buggin the devs to add card games in so we can have casino boats floatin around. I'd love to play a game of blackjack on a long sail to pass the time.

Change the pack spawn of SoTD to back to single spawn, give players a 30 second immunity buff when zoning to a new grid, or a way to see what's on the other side before zoning (I think the buff would be easer)

Or perhaps a 3 stage process, After 14 day allow the ship to be boarded (including for PVE) and steering wheel to become destructible. The new company can then place their own steering wheel which then starts a 7 day claim counter. This gives the original owner a chance to return and reclaim his ship by replacing with a new wheel of his own. At the end of the next 7 days (21 days) it is then claimed by the new company or if not claimed a new radial option to scuttle ship which can then be salvaged After 3 days remove completely Either way, there should be a count down timer and a "About to expire" warning in the companies log. This would definitely encourage a new type of profession of travelling salvage crews

As Dragfire says, under Behaviour you can Disable Ally Looking. The main problem is not the looking, it's that the collision results in stuck animals which is bloody stupid and shitty, shitty programming.

You arent actually hitting the mouth. There is a sweet spot between front and back legs. You cannot feed from the back side, has to be leg side. It is definitely a pia. Build a pen to tame..6 foundations, some doorways and a few ramps is easiest way..use wheat..using reg veggies dont work well at all. You will get hit and may even die, drop a spawn bed away from trap (so they cant break it). Use armor.
  38. 1 point
I think red means that your taming is in a state of decay, and feeding it will continue the taming process. Red in my experience is just an advisory that you're taking too long between feeds. Are you using one of these old hat 'traps' ? Don't, just go free, and use a bear to attack / damage the Elephant, use a bola from on top of the bear, and you'll end up with a free 360 degree circle around it to feed from, you'll be able to find that sweet spot, and, the elephant wont be frantically attacking the walls of the trap, which will make feeding it even easier.. Your success rate will be far far higher. PS & Edit, if you don't have a bear, then stand on a high rock, and bow it instead.

It would be cool if ships of the dammed could pull up on shore and drop off soldier that could attack your base, so there was a little PvE defense in the game.
