    Sorry guys but no, it’s not to early to tell anymore. I went ahead and waited awhile(weeks) till I posted this but no, the direction is not good. any kind of claim system will simply not work. It just isn’t going to happen. Please don’t try to say well the numbers went up because they didn’t lol. Sure they went up from the 3k everage while people were waiting for the wipe but make sure you don’t forget that even at the absolute peak after the wipe, there wasn’t even half of the people that came back. We are talking 10k peak now on the weekend and 7k peak on the weekdays. it is time to bring in the build anywhere style of gameplay. That will always be superior. As far as the playershop goes? There better not even be a 1 gold per week upkeep. Not even that. Absolutely free player shops are the only possibility or that whole concept is done. it is completely cool you guys have a very small niche of players for the game. No problem with that, but you are going from a game that sold millions of copies(before the release, like 10 million) to where only a few thousand people are even willing to play the game. you need to get your ship in order and no, that wasn’t a metaphor. You guys are definitely not doing a good job right now. its getting sad and you really need to stop listening to the people that play the game. There is a reason only a few thousand play it. “Those people” are going to play it regardless. It’s called addiction. They aren’t anywhere even close to the important players. The most important players are the ones that haven’t bought your game yet which I already know that you know that. I mean, who doesn’t want more money right? hopefully you guys straighten up soon, because if not you guys are done.

    1. Ship-Rear Cosmetics/Skins So we have figureheads, steering wheel skins and soon, sail skins. This might be a large suggestion, but the Brig and Galleons have cosmetic "cabin" styling on the backs of them. I propose new skins be made for the Ship itself that adds cosmetic changes to the back of ships. Maybe dragon heads from the back, working up the side? A skull? Hydra head? Cyclops hands? 2. PvE Servers, Allow Ship Claiming After Inactivity Currently, there is no ship claiming on the PvE servers. I feel like ships should be claimable if the player and/or company has not been online or entered the area within maybe 2 weeks? 1 week? Or simply cause the ship to be "Unclaimed" after 1 or 2 weeks of inactivity. 3. Repair All Structures It would be a tremendous Q.O.L. improvement to allow NPC crew to repair all structures including ceilings, cannons, walls, chairs, e.t.c. when the ship is anchored and the NPCs are unseated. Optionally, create a new structure to be placed on a ship in which you assign an npc crewmate to be in charge of repairing all other misc. structures on the ship. 4. Unseat All Crew I don't know about other players, but when I get off my ship, I unseat at least 4 crew members to ensure my ship's essentials are repaired before the next time I set off. This would be another amazing Q.O.L. improvement for the ship to have an implemented option to unseat all crew. 5. Man Your Stations Add an option to NPC crew on ships that assigns them a specific position on-board. Then add an additional option on-board the ship for assigned crew to "Man Stations." 6. Handling Sail; Reverse Allow Handling Sails to provide faster Reverse speeds. As it stands, ships can currently back up no matter what. If the Ship layout includes a Handling Sail, this ship should reverse slightly faster. 7. Captain's Deck Currently, the Galleon is the only ship that comes with a snap-able slot for a receded Deck to be placed higher up at the back of the ship. I propose another optional Deck slot be added to the back end of Brigantines and Schooners, like the Galleons, for cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing ship designs. (The Brigantine is especially difficult to make the ceilings and walls line up with the back end of the ship.) 8. Careening @mKHammerBro Introduce a new mechanic to ground Ships to scrape and clean the underside of the hull. In the past, this process was called Careening, or Heaving Down. Barnacles and other sea life clings to the underside and rots away at the wood. This could also introduce a new way to repair your ship's planks or add a temporary repair and/or speed buff to your ship. 9. Mooring @ikarirain Introduce a new item to be crafted at Smithy's from the Seamanship tree, Bollard. There are instances where a ship is too large to reach an anchor-able point, so it's been proposed to allow ships the ability to be moored in by ropes to Bollards, which can be placed on piers or shipyards, to safely "anchor" the ship in your territory, given anchoring isn't possible. Additionally, increase the amount of Bollards needed to moor a ship depending on the ship's size and/or weight. 10. Select All or Individual Sail Controls @Shakarian Ability to control all sails from the wheel, or select which individual sails to give certain commands to. For instance, all sails selected by default. But press keys similar to the cannon crews to deselect certain sails. 11. Look-Out / Telescope @Aristocrates It is known that being at the top of a mast gives the player a slightly larger render-distance so they can see ships and such ahead of time, but it would be nicer if there was a Telescope sort of attachment to build on the Smithy that could be attached to the top of the mast, further improving this render distance for preparation or avoidance purposes. 12. Collidable Figureheads @Grodgen Collidable Figureheads: Currently they have no collision. You can't stand on them and it also limits their functionality as actual figureheads. 13. Rotatable Weight & Handling Sails @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to rotate Weight Sails and Handling Sails 180 degrees when placed, depending on your desired placement at the front or back of the ship. 14. Rigging That Connects The Front Sail To The Figurehead @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to connect sails via rigging placed at the front of the to the bow sprite/figurehead. 15. Catch Net @RebelMarmoset Add a structure for the front or sides of ships that catches flotsam and/or fish. Consequently, the longer the net is lowered, or the more items it catches, the more it slows the ship down. If you like any of these options, please reply to this thread with your comments and feel free to suggest some more ideas pertaining to ships!     Something with the new 4X radius expansion for enemy foundations in water is utterly bugged. Was able to place foundations, pillars, and a buoy fine last night and now with no enemy foundations or shipyards anywhere nearby above or below the water - I cannot place new foundations, pillars, roof tiles into the water, or buoys due to the "Too close to enemy foundation" error message. Even existing ramps into the water cannot be extended. Several players searched thoroughly for any non-guild foundations or pillars under the water anywhere in the area. Nothing. There are pre-patch guild foundations below the water along the shoreline. Foundation or any tile cannot be attached to or placed near the existing foundations. "Too close to an enemy foundation or gate."

    As title, Please reconsider the very odd decision. To lock such a staple item in a sea-based game behind end game.bosses, all this leads to is a lot of players not able to access a large amount of game content, For pve players the more content they have the longer they will stay around, are u going to lock end game dungeons behind some odd boss kill or collection of 1000 keys from the kraken? No then why lock the sub away from a high proportion of the player base One thing I have also noticed is a lot of players especially pve just wait for a kraken attempt and hang about outside the barrier to unlock the sub, is this good game design? No And before all the usual get a group and do the kraken arrive , its possible to do yes ,but not everyone has the time to build the necessary ships and have the gold to crew it, and organise an event, they may also have trouble in social situations, Tldr: reconsider the sub locked behind kraken

    Someone linked me one of my biggest complaints about Cannons only being snapped to gunports... but guess what.. you only did large cannons... BIG WHOOPY DOO there guys... can still put 30+ med cannons on one side..... my god do you guys even think before you submit a patch... You got one hope to save this game... hire me for creative director period.... otherwise GG this ship has literally sailed.

    something should be done about it, but OBVIOUSLY not ban (even temporary, not temporable), since building foundations is game mechanic... maybe a couple of hours timer on foundations when they aren't attached to a number of other structures/foundations.

    I'm trying to finish our doc. I got through building about 75% of it, now I randomely get (but only sometimes) an enemy foundation issue in water along our shore. I want to build just deep enough to prevent people from ramming shore, but apparently can't anymore. Is this still being worked on or is it considered "fixed" as I heard some people say this was getting looked at. Also, one guy on our island plays like once every 9 days. He had a bed near out claim flag, which I am trying to build a pier near, and he had a tiny base (shipyard + bed he's spent the last month building a sloop in). You guys need to do some better tools for kicking off very minor builders from your island, like putting a destruction ticker on their stuff that flags if as destroyable unless they come by and remove it (obviously give them a warning). I doubt he even notices that we want his bed destroyed, even though I have it on our island display.

    I am wholly satisfied with the claim system. I am on PVE and I imagine that it can be frustrating on PVP, but that's what you sign up for with PVP. I would like more PVE objectives to accomplish. I think that each island, or at the minimum each sector, should have a cave system to explore like in ARK. I loved cave adventuring in ARK, even the underwater caves. Tone down the alphas inside and they should be most excellent. It's really upsetting that so many people crapped on the game because of prior experience with ARK. The main problem that I see is it's exceptionally difficult for a solo player to succeed beyond basic gameplay, you are required to join a company or form your own group to advance beyond a certain point. What I would like to see is more encouragement and rewards for solo gameplay.

    The low number of players isn't really the result of a claim system in the game. The claim system right now is working perfectly fine. Those that complain about the claim system are those that haven't given the new claim system a try. They've already labeled it as bad without testing the waters. The reason numbers are low and haven't increased as much as hoped since 1.5 is because of several things: The Devs history with ARK - this will be a big contributing factor as to why Atlas hasn't done as well as ARK The initial EA release with poor server performance - January clearly shows how many people were simply put off because of the poor first few days and therefore haven't given the game a real chance And to some degree the poor reviews on Steam - this may only be a small contributory factor, but the number of negative reviews in the first few days due to the poor server performance and those reviews remain from those that left in December have hurt the game even up to now, and that's all down to people playing once and leaving a smell on Steam. It's an unfair thing to do, but that's what happened and a lot of people do look at Steam reviews. Decisions by devs - Now this is of course some level of factor to be included. But although not all decisions by the devs have been greeted with happiness from the players, they have stepped back and reverted certain things that players were very unhappy with, i.e. old age debuff, overlapping of claims etc. It already is build anywhere. Yes there is one island owner, and many of the big island are still unclaimed due to cost. But for me it's worked perfectly, i'm on a medium sized island, I've had 2 owners, i've got the space to build, i'm not cramped in like lawless is, my neighbours aren't even in render range from my base unless I run a little distance. There is a lot of space for people to build anywhere, but the reason there is a lot of space is because of those stuck on lawless as they refuse to be a tenant, even though on PvE at least they don't pay tax. However, I must say there since lawless now has 10 day decay timer on structures, there has become little benefit for living on claimed land, but I have space to breathe and build. Not cramped up like lawless just because people refuse to test the waters. As for playershops, i've not experimented with that so don't have much to comment on those. However, you say they should not even be 1 gold a week cost, well sorry but I just laugh at that. You can go out on a sloop for a few minutes, find a floatsam and pickup lets say 8 gold. That would pay for a playershop for 8 weeks if it was 1 gold a week. And you would even refuse to accept that? That to me sounds like the type of player that lives on lawless because they refuse to live on a claimed land even though they don't pay taxes and there's more space to build. There are 3 types of players: Those that currently play Those that quit playing Those that have never played Now all of those are as important as each other. To say the Devs should stop listening to those that play the game is foolish because then that would just mean the devs would be listening to those that have no experience of the game, or those that quit for a multitude of reasons. The devs don't pick and chose who to listen to based on whether they play, quit playing or don't play. I'm really enjoying the game, I think the current claim system is much better than the original claim system. Would no claim system be better? No-one can answer that question without testing it, but to test it would require big changes, more wipes, more disruption which would also affect the performance of the game, so no, no-one can say that a no claim system would improve player numbers. To be honest with you, I don't think anyone, not even the Devs and players know what exactly will increase player count, because no-one can tell whether any change would actually improve player count, and a lot of that is because of the original reasons I stated.... the devs history with ARK turned people off even trying, the initial launch turned people and way and resulted in review bombs. It's nice that you are thinking that numbers can improve a lot more with the right decisions, but you can't lay claim to what the right decisions are, hardly any player or non-player can.

    It also shows local shipwrecks on the map to easily track them down. Also at the bottom it shows latitude/longitude, current grid name, speed and bearing. It is very handy and I never leave home without it. If you take a boat out have a sextant and spyglass. They are a must. Sick of people saying "I need a repairman on my boat! About to engage a brig! " 2 minutes go by........"Nevermind its a friendly boat". USE A FUCKING SPYGLASS!

    Those of you saying you can’t fight SOTD groups without front or rear facing cannons need to come sail with some of us who do. Those who say it can’t be done shouldn’t get in the way of those who are already doing it.

    it is a custom map (think ARK map with modded Atlas mechanics) not an island for your multigrid atlas servers. It is for single grid servers. See the most recent captains log for preview early access is next month. They gave a vague promise that the new equatorial biome template it uses will be ported back to Atlas proper, but anyone that thinks that can be done without a wipe is deluding themselves. That did not even happen in ark when biomes changed despite promises of no wipe. They already wiped last time to change the tundra biome.

    At this current time of playing it's really hard to find an area where we are able to anchor our ship, our crew has the 2nd biggest ship and we were not in that deep of water, and it still wouldn't let us anchor. Please make the range of the anchor a lot more then it is right now, it's actually a joke trying to anchor up the big ships

    Also- If you look at the ship sizes, both from a build stand point and size stand point we seem to be missing sizes in our current lineup for sure. Beyond adding different ship types of the same size as ships we already have, we have room for a size between the sloop and schooner, the schooner and brig, and the brig and galleon. Other pics and information sites list cutters and a few other types as well. If the ship speeds were more historically accurate even sloops would be usable as fast attack ships. And grappling an enemy ship to board would be nice.

    Something that I have always wished for in this game was more ships. I think if they added some new ones like one bigger than a brig smaller than a galleon would be cool. So like 2 decks of guns but still 3 sails. I think it would definitely make the pvp more interesting.

    i would say something that needs to be fixed or added is renaming of ships. For example if you "acquired" ships from a company merge but you dont like the name. As it stands now you cant change the name yet the option is there but doesnt work(atleast for me and others i've talked to.). Also more ship types would be nice. Since some people are doing RolePlaying(RPing) maybe have merchant vessels and other ships like that. Someone mentioned above the void when building....more ceiling tiles that conform to the odd shaped rear of the ship. For example you cant really use square tiles on the schooner to fill the gap you need like 2 or 3 triangles and even then theres a gap on either side of where the ladder on the back is.
