  1. Well, it sounds good on paper anyway. Thanks for at least down tuning alphas. Being one-shotted out of the blue by alpha crocs while swimming was not a fun experience, nor was being terrorized for over an hour by multiple nigh unstoppable alpha cobras because weapon nerfs have made them borderline invincible. All we could do was watch helplessly as they killed all the best tames we had. This was the opposite of fun. Also can we maybe not have animals eating houses? Like any kind of houses? Can that be a thing? I get a dragon being able to destroy a house with fire, or a hydra with their breath weapon, but in no way does it make sense to me that a snake would or could headbutt its way through a wooden wall or foundation. Or a croc, or wolf, or lion, etc etc. Maybe an elephant or something massive like that. And what about cobras clipping almost their entire bodies through walls and foundations now? Also, when a player mans a puckle gun, the only thing it works against are birds, but when we put an NPC on it, they can attack anything. Any plans for a larger elevator platform or making elephants fit on the large platform properly? Also, the elevator crank noise doesn't stop playing even after you stop using it, like loudly and continuously. Can we get snap points on gates, and a smaller gate than the small gate and a medium sized gate?
  2. So far we have lost two high level tames when zoning with them aboard our ships, a wolf and then a bear. It never shows up in history that the animal has died, ever. They just, poof, gone, vanish. I have tried to hold down the the H key going back and forth through area we zoned to see if for some reason they fell of our out of the ship to no avail. Days go by and still never a message that they have died. So, where are they? I am afraid to go long distances now cause my tames have a chance of poofing out of existence. Has anyone else had this problem, i have read other posts about peoples tames shifting into and out of existence kicking them off of it and what not. Is this maybe related?
  3. Cows may well be broken, pre wolf nerf a tamed allied cow wandered into a taming pen to proceed to stomp the shit outta a nice level wolf we were attempting to tame. With wild animals I'm basically at the point of grab a horse that's passive and have everything else in the vicinity follow it, anything that gets in will be lucky to get out alive alpha or not. Just another note on the cows, alpha wolf/tiger barely did shit to two of my bears before they nerfed the alphas, but the alpha cow damn near killed them.(this is with the healing/damage feats being spammed constantly and a rider for each).
  4. Two days ago I punched a level 10 wolf to death while naked... They REALLY nerfed them.
  5. Now, imagine the Atlas we really live in. You've seen the television advertisement for the new candy store in town. And from those ads, it appears fabulous. It's a veritable Willy-Wonka of everything your sweet tooth desires. You simply must have it. Normally, you'd keep going to your old candy store until someone tells you if this one has the great candy it claims in the ad. But this time, you dare to be brave. You and your friends decide that you will be the ones to try it out first. While walking to the candy store talking and dreaming about all the wondrous goodies, you and your friends look up and see the world drastically change. Instead of being just a few steps from the store entrance, the store suddenly jumps a block away. You're at the right address but now the store is down the street even further. Rightly confused, you and your friends continue walking toward the store and again as you approach, the store once again moves further away. This happens several times. And while this seems to defy the laws of good business sense, you and your friends are undaunted. Finally you make it inside. The proprietor dressed in a baker's hat and apron smiles broadly. As you approach the counter, you're suddenly stopped, unable to move. The candy man looks at you and holds up a single finger. From behind the counter, four of the most popular kids in school some proudly walking out and stand in front of you. Their hands in front of them, these brats are holding some of the most delicious looking candy you could have ever imagined. And as you stand there, unable to move, they begin shoving this candy in their faces until their cheeks poke out and they munch and munch and munch. Your mouth is salivating but all you can do is watch. This all looks so mouth watering. And when those kids finish eating, gobs of green and blue goo dribbling off their chin, the proprietor ushers you out the door and tells you to come back tomorrow. Bright and early the next morning you and your friends gather and run as fast as you can to the candy store. You rush inside your money in hand. And then, you're instantly teleported back outside. You turn and look and your friends are just as confused as you so you all try to run in once more only to find yourselves back outside. You keep trying and trying to get in the door of the candy shop and it keeps throwing you back out. For hours and hours you try. This candy, you've seen it, you've smelt it. It's worth this effort. Finally, many hours later you get inside and it looks wonderful. All these glowing goodies! But as you start to walk toward them to see the treasures in the jars, something seems wrong. You can barely move. The counter is only a few feet away but it seems to take forever to get there. It's like you're moving in extreme slow motion. You spend even more hours just trying as hard as you can to get close to the candy on the shelves. Exhausted, you finally collapse on the floor. Early the next morning, you wake to find your friends are sleeping on the floor at your feet, snoring so loudly you can barely think. Trying hard to ignore that, you realize that you are alone in the store with the owner. Finally, you can move. It's still in jerks and fits but you can move. Using this opportunity you begin examining the candy and oh, it looks so wonderful. You start pointing out the things that look most scrumptious and the candy man begins bagging them up for you. He takes your money and hands you the bag of goodies. You wake your friends and being the generous soul you are, you tell them you'll share. As you leave, you hear the proprietor chuckle as he turns away and walks in the back. Giggling, you and your friends begin walking home and you pass out the candy. As you try to hand it to them, you discover you can't. The only thing you can do is drop the candy on the ground. Your friends shrug and pick up the candy you dropped. One friend bites into something that looks like a giant gummy. But in the center of that gummy is a ball bearing. He looks at you with a scowl. He gives you an angry smile and you see that all of his teeth have broken off. Your other friend, which you gave a large piece of bubble gum is chewing. And she's chewing, and chewing and chewing and no matter how much she chews, it's just a giant wad of goo in her mouth that couldn't even begin to produce a bubble. She looks at you in anger as the bubble gum has oozed out of her mouth and now covers half her face. And the candy bar you bit into, you now look at it closely and realize it's not a candy bar. Thinking back to the movie 'Caddy Shack' and the candy bar in the pool, you wonder, should you really have eaten this? Do you dare sniff it to find out if what that stuff in your mouth is what you think it is? Doody? Suddenly, a dog surrounded by an orange glow leaps out of one of the bushes in the yard you're walking by and bites your head off. It kills your friends with equal ease. Magically, you find yourself lying naked in your bed at home. And your only thought is, the candy... the candy... You stand up, run out the door and race down the street and just as you approach the bag, the dog reappears and bites your head off again. Again, you're back in your bed naked. The candy... the candy... and again, you race toward the bag of goodies... and the dog bites your head off yet again. Over and over this scene repeats itself until anger gets the best of you. You go in your dad's bedroom and get he revolver hidden under the socks in his dresser. With renewed confidence you strut down the street toward the bag. The orange wolf appears and you level your dad's gun right between it's eyes. You squeeze the trigger and, 'BOOM' the gun fires. And the dog bites your head off. So now, you've lost both the candy and your dad's gun. Are you getting the picture or do I need to continue this story? I could tell you about the lions that eat your house, I could tell you about the snake that kills your dog. I could tell you about the cars full of 'gangstas' that drive up and down the street shooting at anything they see. I could tell you about how your toothless and gum covered friends are no longer your friends. About how they think you fooled them or lied to them. I could come up with a thousand analogies of how this game is nothing like the candy store they portrayed. You sir, had the luxury of going to a candy store and purchasing candy. The candy store we're all trapped in is more akin to the Steven King movie 'Neeful Things'. Or like Charlie Brown after halloween, you look in your bag expecting candy to find it filled with rocks. A game should be a challenge. I love a challenge. There is a fine line between challenge and bullshit. So many times, this game has already passed well over that challenge line and straight into bullshit. The job of the dev's is to keep this game a challenge, despite the desire of all the kids in town, and not turn it into bullshit. Because too much bullshit and those kids will end up shooting themselves in the head just to end the misery and never return. Because you see when a candy store advertises candy, that's what they should deliver... no rocks.
  6. If your interested in taming a wolf or a lion, I have a decent pen set up in F3 with loads of them around it. I believe I left the pin set to unlocked and your more then welcome to use it.. The pen is not at my home base, it's next to my neighbors to the west.. we are located on the center Island at the south end to the west.. Cursed Exiles and Grim something or something Grim.. can't remember but I have a single plot of land on the other side of Grim that has a pen setup for taming.. it's a relative safe to use pen with little worry about being killed or your tame being killed by other animals in the area. If your interested and have issues finding it try to hit me up in the afternoons around 18:00 to 22:00 EST. Same pathfinder name in game as I use on the forums

  8. No, it's called game mechanics. There are over 1,700 discovery points to earn and let's be honest, if you've seen one wolf, you've seen them all. Now, if I had treasure maps for every single discovery point, then I'd have a reason to do more than just hop off and hop back on. But I think 1,700+ maps would take a long time to farm (grind) and they'd disintegrate before I got to a fraction of them. As it is now, it's all about getting a 'been there, done that' t-shirt.
  9. Well, we had an alpha wolf eating our stuff THROUGH a wall last night, it killed my buddy whilst he used a smithy. In the end, we were in our building, and wolfy head was sticking through destroying everything it could get it's phased teeth into. So standing just out of reach, we both piked the idiot to death, through the wall. Two sides to a knife I guess. Would absolutely suck for tames to be killed like this though.. Wild animals should not SPAWN anywhere near structures though.
  10. Yesterday was chock full of busy work that just needed to be done. We had good maps we needed to get done and some tames that were needed at outposts so it was a lot of sailing yesterday between regions. I was with a crewmate most of the time in our tundra outpost. We've managed to find some really friendly neighbors in at least 3 regions so far. My crewmate and I needed to gain a level or 2 (56 with a max of 60 the both of us) and our crew(npcs) were running short on gold so we ran around with our bears (Ursa and Minor) knocking down a few common maps here and there until we got about a thousand gold sitting in the boats coffer, then we took a much needed break for a few hours. Upon returning we found that our company was trying to tackle a rather difficult treasure map so we fast travelled there only to find that due to the area the map either couldn't spawn the enemies or were ending up spawning them under the map preventing us from completing it. We then decided to head back to our outpost and complete a task we had been putting off all day, taming an elephant. We traveled south to D6 where we had a fine treasure map for around 700 gold and landed on an island with some rather friendly folks who were looking to trade. Upon completing the treasure map I noticed that my bear had picked up something else that could be considered a treasure, sugars in quantities I had not considered possible for the saps before. We brought everything back to the boat and I was able to craft up 2k organic paste from fighting in a treasure hunt with no serious effort at gathering. Needless to say we are going to be back there to stock up. Ursa and Fenrir(wolf) made it back on the boat deck just fine, however Minor managed to get stuck under the bottom deck and we couldn't get him out no matter what we tried, so we resigned ourselves to having to tear apart the lower planks to get him out when we got home. Once we sailed around to the locals trading area we found they had some rather good tamed elephants for sale, a 35 and a 36(wild levels). We got a great deal on our new elephant (Al Bundy) and Minor and Fenrir gained a new job(keeping Al alive against anything nature thinks it's going to throw at it). One of our crew mates signed off for the night as it was getting late(he was riding Fenrir) so we decided it was best if we get everything back to base and pack up for the night. Upon arriving back at the outpost I noticed that Minor had been stuck in a different spot and I could actually ride him now if I wanted meaning instead of being under the deck he had managed to get up on it, I whistled to him to follow and upon walking back to the top deck poof, he's on top and we no longer have to destroy anything to get him out. This is where I decided to call it a night, everything had gone extremely well(much better than expected) and we met some great new people that we plan to trade with later on. With all our tames back in the yard and our defensive animals set to neutral I signed off for the night. Plans for today involve possibly setting up a breeding area and keeping my eyes out for a high level bear to tame and take down to D6 for trading.
  11. What are you doing that you are getting killed by a wolf at level 50? I honestly havent been killed by a wolf days.. probably 4 or 5 days.
  12. Indy, NEVER criticize a person by the name of "Gothic Dentist", you could be eating soft stuff. It sucks and happened to us in a few short hours. It used to happen on ships by the crocks but they have turned them down and ships are seemingly safe now. R.I.P. chickens, Agnes and Gertrude. On land we learned by our elephant Dumbo to elevate everything, Dumbo IV is doing great. Dogfood, our horse was a casualty within our discoveries too, sadly he became food for a wolf (we won't use Dogfood name anymore!). Replaced with female Checkyourpants. Agnes II and Gertrude II, are making great vitamin A. Well, maybe not Gerty so much, we found shes a he. They are working on it slowly though take extra measures and go up 2 to be safe, maybe build a foundation on ground level then go up. It is crazy!
  13. I would say - game DO NOT REWARD players for anything. I mean... I'm 1lvl, in my underwear, I go ashore and being killed by a lvl2 wolf right? After a month I lvl50 with yellow plate armor I go ashore a-a-a-a-and... being killed by a lvl2 wolf. So what's the point of lvl growing? Yes I can open more structures I can do more "SIMS 2" stuff but... what about adventures? I can spend hours and hours of gathering resources and after that I UPGRADE MY SPEAR and INCREASE IT DAMAGE FROM 26 TO 27!!!!!!!! So much effort and such a great reward right? --- Or like we go this adventures. We spend couple hours to prepare it. We craft some heavy firearms, grenades. Then after couple hours sailing we face army of damned. We throw grenades, shoot all fire arrows, shootgun and all that stuff. And then when we done - we try to dig a treasure and game sais "there are couple of solders left". Ok we search them. Unable to find. Then whole army respawn. AND WE DEAL WITH THIS ARMY WITHOUT ANY GRENADES, FLAME ARROWS ETC! Just whit spears. So what's the point of preparing? Why we wasted few hours? We could just set sails and go... --- And yet... you can easily loose everything. All stuff you have been creating for a week or even months. None of your equipment, leveling, diligence, not a single hour you spent in a game! Nothing will help you to keep your stuff safe. Just a single alpha animal spawns at you, or suddenly 15-20 vultures came while you fighting army of damned (this happened yesterday), SoD camping border... I mean there are hundreds ways to loose it (I say nothing about glitches and internet issues but yet I lost everything to that couple of times) and I see not a single way to safe it. So... I mean. I can spend next couple of weeks to create all I lost. And after I'll loose it again... well maybe I wont feel I ready to spend few weeks more to do what I've done twice... --- At start... I couldn't connect freeport due to 155 players there. Right now I see like 5-7 players connected there. There are more players now I my base's region in tundra then somewhere south.
  14. The thing is this isn't really end game content its vital content for a lot of people to keep animals killing them and destroying their stuff to a minimum, even with stone it still happens as animals spawn inside the base and wood/thatch can be torn through in a few minutes by an angry animal who seem delighted to chew on base structures much less ones with tasty people/animals inside. I've literally had a wolf ignore me as I shoot it to death from behind while focused on gnawing through my water barrel. There was no one and nothing inside my base to draw its attention and nothing to keep it in place but it ignored me KILLING it to destroy a water barrel. In addition to which these tree's are so interrelated you need to buy your way well up one tree to unlock another it makes it rather hard to class anything as end game content. Is it stone buildings, glider suits, canons (those are 2 skill tree's worth of purchases in), tarot? There's plenty of people who'd be happier with higher STONE costs as opposed to sap because they can get stone as opposed to spending an hour or more playing dodge the SotD. As I've said in other posts I can get sap/organic paste as I play on a private server. Its a simple hop to the next grid in a server where people aren't going to be stockpilling/killing me. Even so this one change has completely derailed my plans for the weekend. I intended to go get honey, try taming my first bear and rebuild my barn to try and keep the animals inside from being killed through the walls as happened to my one wolf. Instead I spent the morning sailing off to the freeport dodging ships of the damned and harvesting sap to make organic paste then I had real life concerns. Its now 5 pm, I'm doing things this even so maybe tommorow I can try getting honey if other plans don't prevent that. This again is on a friendly server with sap only 1 grid away from my tundra home which itself is practically on the border. Yet because I need the paste today's plans in the trash. Now people on public servers are in an even worse situation lower gathering rates, longer distance to sap resources, people walling them off with unbreechable walls in PVE or just outright blowing what you use them for to pieces in PVP. In addition to which its not solely about the issues I raise above there's also the fact for PVP people if you do go to all this time and effort to make stone its 2 shots harder than wood to destroy meaning its practically useless as a defense material because the time and effort to build in it is grossly disproportinate to the time and effort to destroy it.
  15. OH... I forgot to mention. I'd like to suggest an experiment to you. I want you to start a new character. Hop on your little raft and come to the tundra. And when you finally find a place to settle down, start building. But don't build with stone because there's no paste. Which is a good thing because on your island, there's no metal either and everything you get from rocks is going to go to repairing your tools. You can just use wood. Tomorrow when you log in and a wolf has chewed it's way through your wooden walls and floors, eaten you, your bed and the chicken you tamed... you can just jump back to that freeport and dream about taming a bear.
  16. This has happened to me multiple times. just an hour ago I logged in and both a wolf and an elephant, who were right next to me when I logged out were gone. Fortunately this has happened to me multiple times: go away (out of render distance?) and come back. Your tames are there, they're just invisible and unresponsive.
  17. Despite all the times attempted tames glitched out in weird ways, taming in this game is still more fun than: I) Sailing around grids exploring copy pasted island for a bunch of extra levels, or; II) Chasing after a fountain of youth because Grapeshot decided to steal the concept of character aging from Soulbound Studios (who have worked on this for years) and grafted it half baked onto a bunch of recycled Ark assets, or; III) Endlessly farming gold to get NPC's that all look like they got busted out of a mental ward or escaped from the local circus freak show. Yeah, I suspect I won't be back. Plenty of other (better) stuff on the horizon. Yeah it seems they only care about the streamers. Losing two Rhinos and one Elephant is even worse than one little wolf. Elephants and Rhinos are a pain to tame, especially on PVP.
  18. Annoyed. I have lost animals before, but that was always because I took a risk with them and got them killed. No biggy, happened to me in Ark a lot of times. However, I was extra careful with my last high level wolf, but then it just got patched out of existance. I like taming, but there seems to be no point to it right now. Maybe I will be dropping this game untill it releases and I will probably give it a negative review on Steam advising people to hold on buying this buggy piece of amateuristic coding @Jatheish dares to call a game.
  19. Great, patch 16.14 made my wolf disappear....... Well done, Grapeshot. Incompetent morons. Anyone else lost pets as well?
  20. This is currently happening to me... with ALL the shoulder pets and a wolf...
  21. We had 2 bears, 3 horses, a pig, a wolf and a cow in a large pen. Walled off in stone. Hadn't finished the roof yet. 3 stories tall. Logged in next day to see an alpha horse, nothing else. Then they nerfed stone building.
  22. lol I don't do bigger pictures I play solo, I was fortunate I managed to build my Stone base the day before this patch hit, I have now specced out of stone as I don't need it but it free'd up something like 16 points or something because you have to take crafting speed 1,2 and 3 before you can actually take Stone. The point is Grapshot atm are just giving half hearted fixes to massive game breaking problems. Too Many Building affecting server performance (week 3 of the game, what are they expecting week 187) No spend money increase server performance and ironically their fix could actually increase buildings. Too many Wolf spawns, kill wolf spawn almost completely, now snake run rampant and no wolves to tame. instead of actually spending 5 minutes changing spawn rates to the point of balance. Weight Griefing The easiest fix and probably the most hard hitting to the griefers is the minute the ships sinks instant death, they would die and lose all resource and pets they had, instead no you float above deck and cannot really move so some people innocently get stuck. Land Claim Cheese, instead of removing it until a proper fix they make it so Land Owners (cheesers) can "ALLOW" others to build on it, at which point he cheesers can revoked the rights and take everything you build or in most cased "NOT ALLOW" others to build. These are just 4 of the many many many half hearted and pathetic fixes they have made. But hey don't worry the dev kit is out modders will save the day right?
  23. lol for me sometime it's PVPer would kill my Gaming Expériance, Gun's nerf it's because in PVP server they have wine about dommage again's player ... and for pve player the nerf have make combat again wildlife sometime imposible before modification of Wolf
  24. Your kidding right? A pack of glitchy murder mutts getting nerfed to reality are pvp's fault... Not that a fully armored high level human with like 6 guns and swords should be unable to fight a lone wolf let alone 9 of them... I was so tired of it... I'm fighting alpha mobs grinding xp like it's nothing until a single wolf aggros from 39 miles away and kills me...it being level 2... While I'm easily killing without fire a higher tier tiger that's alpha and level 222!
  25. First of all, I specify that I play PVE server and Lawless zone. I am relatively bad at English, I use a translation software. Some of my sentences may be badly shot, sorry for that. I agree to prevent players from building anywhere and anyhow. Especially those who have big doors everywhere or those who block resources. But prevent the players from building anything, no. what your latest patch did to me: A player came to put his shipyard at the end of my pontoon, where I usually place my boat. (patch reducing the area of influence of structures). And now I must farm like crazy to finish my house (patch insane stone craft). While by your fault, I have no more boats (possibility to put a shipyard, build a ship inside, but the boat hit the ground when it is released, goodbye boat, 2 times => galleon and Schooner). Before that, it was an alpha wolf that appeared in my courtyard and killed my 2 wolves, my 3 bears and my giraffe. Before that, my schooner sank when I left him in freeport to go to sleep. Before that it was harmful players who ran the boats playing with the overweight. Then there was the fountain of youth, my character is 100 years old, and I try to build an alliance with other companies of my island to go. But it's not like that, and run naked and reappearing on his raft does not work very well, especially we are not even sure that the fountain is there .... Dificulity in a survival game is normal, no problem with that. But piss off the players by imposing foolish choices, no. Whenever we think the worst is over, something worse happens. As long as I am there I continue the list of things that exasperate me. - Respec : having to wait to pass a level for respec is completely stupid. How do we do in an emergency? I put a lot of skill points in the building, now that I can not build stone anymore, what do I do? I am waiting to pass a level for respec? ridiculous. What are you waiting for to implant a potion of respec? At this time you can do a very hard thing, a lot of resources for not being respec every 5 minutes, what you just do for the stone construction for example... - Alliance : too few options. - Animals and structures : every time I log in I have to break stone floors to free my animals that have gotten stuck in. - Chat channel : a big joke. I could go on a long time, but I like this game and I do not want to burden you with reproach. We have an alliance on my island, to manage what is going on, to help each other and to make everything go well we do not prevent people from settling there, but we want to prevent them from doing anything wrong. Since your last patch, despite the fact that the island is locked, some players have arrived and settled anyhow (large doors everywhere, structures against ours ...) We free up space when people ask us, but here they are harmful players who have arrived, never hello, do not respect anything. these few players ruin the game of most who had yet do something good ... On my 300 hours of play, I spent 50 really playing. Every time you do something right, just after you are laying a shit without a name. it's an alpha game ok, but please think about everyone when you make a choice. There are big group players, small group players, solo players, PVP players, PVE players, friendly players, bad players ... I know it's hard to please everyone, but you have to pay attention to your choices, it's you who have launched this game full of promise, but it is we who have spent more than a hundred hours inside. Ruining the game experience of most by a choice between two meals is not very wise ...
