  1. Don't backpedal now, bud. Your exact quote was: "Not sure where you are at but we have been all over and have not seen didly, exaggerate much?" "Not sure where you are at" -- again, just because you personally haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist and isn't a problem. "but we have been all over" -- clearly not. "and have not seen didly" -- is this picture more than "diddly?" Just wondering. "exaggerate much?" -- there's no exaggeration, it's exactly what OP is saying, particularly in point 2 of his first post. Hope this helps.
  2. On: NA-PVE First, my situation: I'm living in Lawless, battling the foundation spam (an issue in itself). I created my character on Hydra's Den on launch day...but at the time I was trying to join a large group on Kraken's Maw which has since dissolved (I felt like trying to pvp with a large group and do the pve thing within them). I wish I had just played my character on Hydra's Den from the start...I would most likely be enjoying my own land now. I have 5 sloops currently out in various parts of the world searching for a claim to take. I've seen a lot of the game and here are the issues I've seen: 1) "1 land claim" despite multiple obvious land claims - I'm a programmer, so not being able to count claims which entirely match the criteria to increment that counter, just doesn't make sense to me...how can it be SO broken? The following picture was taken to illustrate this problem, there were several other land claim flags on the left, right, and out of view in front of me from the same company when I took this. Also led to this reply from someone willing to give away claims to friendly PVE players. 2) "1 land claim" despite multiple obvious sea claims claiming all the land near the 1 land claim - Sea Claims which overlap land need to count for the timer calculations. This leads to bigger companies with lots of claims (the ones that were supposed to be punished with the 3 day timers) relying primarily on sea claims to claim their land to get around the land claim calculation. In a game so heavily based on being on the sea...having a single claim in the middle of an island with no ability to make ships, is quite pointless. No one is giving up claims that I've seen, but they might be converting all the seaside claims to sea claims to lower their land claim amount to get the long expiration time. 3) Negative Land Claims - How the hell are we supposed to know how many land claims someone has? See image in #4 4) After PVE Expiration counts down for a flag that has negative land claims, the new clock counts away from 0 and really makes no sense. 5) Upkeep time vs PVE Expiration time - PVE expiration can count down...but the Upkeep time defaults to 21 days no matter how many land claims they have. If you meant for people to be able to steal claims more quickly from large companies, this will stop it every time. In my searches I've found exactly one place I could actually put down a flag. But there was a wolf still alive, so obviously still somewhat active....so I did not claim the land. I don't want to ruin someone else's time in PVE. The claims by people on the forums that "90%" of the land is free for the taking, are bullshit, not with these bugs. Hell, one guy that was offering to give away land claims, won't do it because his flags show bug #1 above...only one land claim. He thinks it will risk his other land claims he doesn't want to lose. I understand why he doesn't want to risk it, and I don't blame him. For someone actively looking for land to claim, these assorted issues make looking for a claim to steal frustrating as all hell. Along with that and greediness of all the players in the game who DON'T give up the extra land and would rather "let" us build and "rent" the land (only to "evict" if you ever cross them), how is anyone ever supposed to find any land to claim after launch. I pay rent in real life...I'm not paying rent in a god damn game. Fix the damn claim system to discourage people from overclaiming in PVE. Land Claims are obviously preferable to the foundation spam of lawless and the foundation spam from Ark....but the system needs to be better than this for PVE. There needs to be limits on how many claims one person can claim in PVE...that's the only way to resolve this. Stealing land is not PVE content...that's PVP content. I really like the experience on PVE, specifically official PVE, if you ignore the claim system and are able to actually enjoy the game. Virtually endless exploration, but I'm not one to live on a boat, I have to have a home base to feel secure. PVE on unofficial just doesn't give the same experience...it's easy mode. Unfortunately, the badly thought out PVE claim system makes it impossible to steal land if you weren't there for the first land rush. If you weren't there, you'll spend all your time searching and hoping to find someone else's land to claim...which is again, NOT PVE content. I have no interest in debating this system with the forum...which is why I'm filing this bug report instead. If you want to add to the list of bugs or various issues, I'll be happy to update this original post with that information. I did not see a bug report for these issues which is why I created this thread. Also, if you find this bug report helpful, please upvote it for visibility.
  3. Being a long standing member from preorder date I've seen atlas from ever minor and major change and as everyone knows it's not perfect by a long shot, BUT its community knows well how to not only ballance the game but also how to make it more popular. We all know the history of how it came to be as a split off from ark but to the point I'm making. A very helpful suggestion if possible firstly is to lower or change the codex for your various farming/gathering establishments. It is more a hindrance and far less appealing game play when we cannot place all or even ONE gathering building because it is "TOO CLOSE" to another this includes OTHER PEOPLES which it SHOULD NOT be effected by, even if we manage to get one building down it's a good 150 square units before another can be placed THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. When we had the simple farmhouse gathering everything gameplay was great and actually enjoyable. But now that immersion has come to the board it makes it increasingly difficult for anyone large or small to properly enjoy the game rather than constantly have to go searching for their various gathering spots. I'm aware of the purpose of the warehouse to simplify this however EVEN THE WAREHOUSE is bound by the same restrictions! this is a matter to which myself and I'm sure many others feel could be rectified easily. SECONDLY, with the new release of ships as grand as they are it gives full reason and ability for us to have our generic ships free again, if anything the most annoying change was how after so long we have to pay for ships that we spend weeks or even months constructing only to have to pay for it as well. If the money provided the ship automatic crew and cannon placement then I could completely understand and accept such pricing but as it is most cant even afford to build a brig. anymore despite the market providing gold due to the issue stated above this. Ergo I would request the development team take the time to heed my advice and act upon it you are doing great work and making incredible changes to better the game but to make it all worth while heed the communities ideas and efforts to help you a achieve more greatness by making the gameplay fair for ALL be them individual or the largest tribe online. Thank you for your time and efforts.
  4. The trip to Nozetal had been a bittersweet one. While the salty ocean winds had breathed life into these old sea bones, the lingering memories of my time in La Noferia left me on edge. I had narrowly evaded certain death and although we were now miles away, the danger remained as present as the tattered journal close to my chest. Landfall could not come soon enough, the crew were on their final leg before their for home voyage and a detour for a strange passenger with mysterious intentions did not help ease their growing restlessness. I had kept to myself in my quarters and on landing, I quickly disembarked, narrowly avoiding an escalating confrontation about a missing pinnace that had mysteriously disappeared overnight. While a large town with folk of all manners, I could not help but feel the eyes of the townsfolk had pegged me as someone different. My apparel was nothing remarkable but it seems my inquiries about my pending guide had made me a person of interest. When I finally entered the local alehouse, it seemed word had spread quickly, because with each step towards the bar, I drew more and more attention from the local patrons. As I approached the bar, I met eyes with the barkeep and he gestured, as if he knew everything already, with a tilt of his head to a briny old man with a battered cocked hat and disheveled blue jacket. The stench of sea and spirits grew stronger as I walked over, a familiar aura put off by those devoted to the sail and by the smell, he was the most devout I had ever encountered. "Captain?", I inquired. The word was clear as a bell as the room had fallen silent, all ears had perked for any tidbit of our conversation. However, the man remained unresponsive, still hunched over the bar. As I cleared my throat to repeat my query, the Captain turned, leapt off his stool and grabbed me by my head, hands on either side. He now towered over me, much larger than I perceived in his former slouched state, with his giant hands palming my head. Stunned, I closed my eyes expecting him to crush my skull with the slightest muscle twitch. "Nephew!", he exclaimed as he glanced over me, "Aren't you just the spittin' image of your mother, God rest her soul!" And before I could respond to the misunderstanding, he wrapped his massive arms around me and clutched my head straight into his chest. "Do you have the money, lad?" he whispered so only I could hear. "Ye.. yes." I coughed still fazed by the sudden display of affection and new proximity to the source of the seaman's stench. "Barkeep, a round on me. A celebration for the reunion of me and me sis's son!" The still air was broken with the news of good fortune and with a collective cheer, the familiar bar sounds returned. "Pay the man and meet me at the docks, less prying ears out on the sea." With that he released me and I stumbled gasping for a clean breath of air. Recovered but still shaken by the grand charade that just took place, I took a stool next to his to fake familiarities until it was time to leave. The captain "retired" for the night shortly after and I was soon to follow, much lighter on coin than I had entered. I met the Captain again on his vessel, a small cog, meant for a light crew. As requested, we set off with just us two to man the cog, in an effort to keep our journey discrete. Unlike the actor in the alehouse, the Captain was a quiet man. Apparently, his willingness for the absurd and the rewards that followed had gained him much unwanted notoriety and many adversaries to boot. He often departed for journeys quickly in the night, in hopes to keep his pursuers off guard. And so that night, we set sail for Walfield Atol, a close but treacherous and relatively uncharted area known for its mysterious weather conditions and strange disappearances of many a crew. It had been a few days before we drew close to our final destination. Unfortunately, we were not alone. Another small ship had been following our vessel since our departure and keeping its distance throughout the journey. However, the Captain was not fazed, believing we'd lose them once we arrived at Walfield Atol. "Only the king of fools is dense enough to take a cog through Walfield, and you're in the presence of royalty," he would reply with a laugh to my concerns. And as we sailed closer black clouds could not only be seen in our direction but also seeming closing in on us at our wake. Between shifts at the helm, I had started deciphering another page in the journal and now finished, I thought I had gone wrong, for the translation depicted something truly unbelievable. To reassure myself, I reread the page aloud, hoping to discover any mistakes that could affirm my doubts and put me at ease. A burning disk, floating on the turbulent surface of the ocean. A rumor that almost rivaled the discovery of real Wonders and Monuments in the world has reached me. I set sail to the rumored location of one of these disks, near the Walfield Atol. I have a feeling that this might be related to the temple that I found on that island. I arrive at the island and look west, in the direction of the rumored disk. I can’t see anything, but it’s mid-afternoon so I decide to wait until morning to set sail again thinking this rumor was a tale to mislead youthful pathfinders. As it gets darker I head back up to the deck of my Sloop to make sure no pirates have found me. The island is silent, and I see no lights. I look over to the West and pause. What is that blueish light? It's near the horizon, and far too bright to be a star. Raising anchor I set sail towards the blue light with the wind at my back. The rumors were true. I arrive in the middle of nowhere to a...disk shaped structure that is aflame with bright blue-white fire? It looks like lightning made fluid. I look over the side of my Sloop down at the surface of the water and panic. I’m caught in a maelstrom, and am being dragged into the ring. There is barely enough time to run to the captain's wheel, before my Sloops bow enters the burning ring's light. My skin begins to tingle and all my hair stands up. My vision fades to a blinding bright white. After a few moments my vision returns to normal and I find myself sailing away from the disk. I open my compass to set sail back to port, but I’m sailing the wrong direction. The wind is still at my back, but now I’m sailing East? I pull out my sextant to confirm...and I’m no longer at the same part of the ocean as I was a few moments ago. I’m on the other side of the world! I get my bearings and set sail to the nearest freeport. Foolishness, I thought to myself. Discs, like portals, to another location? Impossible. As I finished, I heard the Captain call to me muffled by the crashing waves from an impending storm. The deck had become slick with rain and as I stumbled to the helm, I could only suspect that what he had for me was not going to be pleasant news. "If you're going to tell me about the storm I've noticed!" I yelled over the crashing waves. "They're damned fools too! Look!" he replied pointing to the stern with one hand with the other struggling to steady the wheel. As I looked to our rear, I was greeted by a haunting sight. Only about 200 yards away, our pursuers had drawn close and were nearly at our heels. To my horror, piloting the pursuing vessel were three figures in black cloaks. Instantly, my heart sank and I buckled, nearly losing grip of the railing. "They'll be on us soon enough, but I'd gladly give them my title if they tried to board us in this storm!" The captain boasted as the waves continued to toss our ship. I gathered myself and peered to the rain at the chasing ship, hoping the waves would take them instead. As they bobbed in the sea, two of the figures had made their way to the front of the ship, each holding out something, as if making an offering to the sea. In my astonishment, a small flash came from each of their hands and suddenly, the objects they held were no more. I had not a moment to comprehend the small ritual that had taken place before a giant flash of light illuminated the sky behind me. I turned to see a giant red disc had taken shape over the water a few hundred yards in front of us. Is this the disc the journal spoke of? Bewildered, I vaguely recall the Captain frantically screaming profanities as he tried to regain control of our vessel to no avail. Our ship began to pick up speed, pulled toward the disc by some unseen force. It was only a short time before our vessel made contact with the anomaly, slowly engulfing each part as it helplessly sailed through. And as the disc finally swept over me, I clutched the journal that led me here and prayed its words were true. Final Note Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed. As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support! 5. Show me the poll that says, "I quit playing Atlas because..." I have seen them do nothing but cater to whining. They have addressed issues with aggressive mobs. They have addressed issues with alphas. They have addressed issues with griefing... Wait, why the hell am I repeating this. You obviously don't read. Instead of whining about how difficult this game is, people are now whining about how easy it is. Have you seen that? There is obviously no way in hell they can appease everyone who wants to play this game. Everyone has their own idea of what this game should be and if this game isn't changed to meet their exact expectations, they're going to quit. Ok, bye. They addressed the issues that made it unplayable for me. They're banning griefers and hackers. I've seen the list. They've fixed aggressive mobs and alphas so that I can walk out of my house. I can play the game. If you read the interviews with the co-founders before this game was even launched you'll see that they already had a vision of what they wanted Atlas to be. As long as this game isn't so unplayable that I can't walk out of my house without getting slaughtered, I'm willing to sit back and see what that vision is, be it dragons, ships or submarines. Pulling up charts and statistics and trying to prove that this game is failing because the dev's aren't listening is both laughable and near-sighted.
  6. It had been a few years since I had been to the sea. The life I had once loved was a distant memory and I had moved on from the life of piracy to settle down in a quaint village before Davy Jones and the sea came a knockin' to collect back what I rightfully stole. I swore I'd never return. But when my younger brother wrote to me of a mysterious, new discovery he had made, promising of treasures untold. I was forced to return to the fickle waters, after adamant warnings of danger had gone unreturned. For you see, if the sea has taught me anything, it is that no matter the glory or riches that may come your way, there is always a price to pay. When I arrived in the port town of La Noferia, I was quick to learn that my brother had been missing for some time. From the locals, I had learned he had arrived a few weeks ago regaling anyone who would listen about his new discovery and potential fortune. The idiot had always been a boisterous one and it seems it may have cost him, dearly. A few of his crewmates informed me he had been staying in a small shack a few hours from the harbor so I immediately took off and by nightfall of that first day, I had arrived. It was a lonely thing, this shack, sitting on the edge of land and beach silhouetted by the moon as the shore curled behind it, leaving only the ocean beyond it. As I entered, it reeked of sea and spirits, as well as a few rotten meals from nights before. I carefully searched the shack, but there were no signs of my brother and from the condition of the room, no one had been around for days. Exhausted, I sat down on the steps in front of the door and looked out to the sea, contemplating the odd reunion taking place before me and wondering what twisted fate the sea had planned for me. It was then that I saw it, off in the distance, a small sparkle in the tide. I knew it before I even got up from the steps but still I ran to the tide, hoping to disprove my darkest fears. As I drew closer, the outline of a body began to take shape. Although he was face down when I approached, I knew it was him. He was prone, lifeless, washed up from the sea and around his neck was that stupid bandana: the one he was so proud of, the one he never took off, the one I gave him when he took my place in the company. As the waves lapped over the poor soul, I dropped to my knees and cursed myself realizing my debt had been paid. Through the tears I noticed he was holding something. A book of some sort, inset with an exotic jewel that I had never seen before. Is this what this fool had thrown his life away for? I pried the journal out of his hands and sat in the damp sand, book in my lap. Unnerved by the tide, I needed to know what was so important that my brother was willing to die for and so by moonlight, I began to read. Most of the pages were damaged, torn out, or in a language I could not comprehend. Tried as I could, I was unable to make sense of it and after what seemed like hours, I threw the book down in frustration. Defeated and knowing the responsibilities still required to tend to my dead sibling, I reconciled to calling it a day. I looked at the body next to me with a feeling of guilt and frustration, staring at that damned bandana. Why did I have to give him that stupid thing? Why couldn't I protect him? Why couldn't it have been me? Blinded by the welling rage, I grabbed at the bandana attempting to rip it off him. To my dismay, the knot was under his neck and I was forced to flip him over to untie it. Perturbed, I rolled to my knees and shoved the lifeless corpse exposing his smiling face now bright in the moonlight. That wily smile, the one that had been his forgiveness after all the pranks he had pulled on me as children, now revealed, startled me causing me to sit back on the damp sand. "One last prank?", I thought as I recovered and surveyed the lifeless prankster in front of me. "Even when you're dead, you're an asshole", I muttered as I leaned back over him to untie the bandana. But as I reached over, my eyes widened as I caught a glimpse of a familiar parchment carefully tucked under his shirt. I quickly grabbed the damp, tattered pages, identical to the ones found in the journal. One seemed like a cypher, half in the foriegn writings and the other, in my brother's handwriting. The other was written by my foolish sibling, an already translated copy of one of the pages from the journal. Maddened by this turn of fortune, I began to read aloud the blood-stained scribblings that my kin desperately died protecting. As the last words trailed from my lips, I froze. Unsure of what to do with this amazing new discovery, my mind blanked. Suddenly, a smile crept to my face and I began to laugh. Unable to control what was coming over me, the laughter began to build, louder and louder to the point of hysteria. “You son of a...”, I yelled as I finally got a hold of myself and wiped a tear from my eye. There was only one thing left to do in my mind: Unearth the mysteries of the journal and continue the discoveries my brother sacrificed himself for. “For the first time, we’ll do this together, Nathan.” I whispered as I untied the bandana from his neck and fastened it around mine. Once I got to my feet, journal and pages in hand, I began to walk along the shore preparing in my head the arrangements for my brother's funeral and for the upcoming adventures ahead. The sea had cleared my slate and I paid a heavy price. But the way I see it, Nathan didn’t get the chance to take from all that life has to offer, so for him, I plan to collect in full. 7. 8. My favorite genre in gaming is by far the survival games such as Ark, Conan, Empyrion, etc. I've been playing these games and have logged around 5k hours combined in all of the survival genres. I see Atlas going a long way once it's fully established as did Ark. As I read through the forums, I see so many people complaining about this and that and saying they will quit the game. I mean by all means go ahead, you'll clear up some much-needed space for the rest of us xD. But mind you, when Ark started off, we couldn't even hit the dinosaurs, but they could hit us, it was practically impossible to kill a dino. Now its a great survival game and improving daily. Now to get to my points, I have a few suggestions (I am not sure if people have suggested these as I have not read the suggestion forum yet), which I feel would take the game up another level. I know some people might disagree and some might agree, these opinions are my own, and hopefully does not affect anyone in any way. 1. Fountain of youth So the fountain of youth is a little of an overkill for some people, it's more of a disadvantage than it is an advantage for most. I understand you are trying to make the game harder, but making it hard to the point where people are getting wrecked (especially in PVP) can be seen as overly selfish. The way I look at it is, why do I keep aging even though I am dying? I am 54 years old right now and I keep dying, how am I still that age? Some people say take it out, I say keep it but put a little twist to it. How so? People that keep dying should be automatically reset to the age of 20, however people that live long enough to the age of 90+ should be able to get more rewards for surviving that long without dying. Instead of punishing people for living that long, they should be rewarded with stats and such as they age (for example they can craft faster, they have more resistance to the weather, etc.), then when they are 90 those stats diminish and they should go to the fountain of youth to keep going with those stats as if they are aged 89 (which is probably the highest the bonus stats would be). 2. Stone buildings The latest patch with the stone buildings is definitely a letdown, I am currently a PVE player, and stone definitely has a more smooth layout than the wood one, which could prove for better building experience. However, implementing the latest nerf has pushed my company and I from even continuing with stone half way through building our seaport. It looks incomplete right now, and we are trying to figure out ways in fixing our port without it. Once more, people are calling for its removal, I say it should stay, but obviously with a little twist. So these new material costs such as metal and organic paste should be implemented but into a different kind of structure, such as reinforced stone, not normal stone structures. If you feel that stone has a lot of health, then decrease it and make the reinforced stone structures much more durable. This would benefit both the PVP and PVE players. Some PVP players are definitely not going to like to have to replace their structures, but give them a bonus such as 3x or 4x for a week, have them rebuild their entire bases in a quarter of the time with more durable and a more protected structure. 3. Taming/Breeding Taming - Would love to see tranquilizer arrows replace bola's as in history they have been used for over 1000 years. Then a bola can be used to keep the animal down on the floor as you force feed it food so that it doesn’t kick or shove you which can then damage you. Secondly, regarding the foods some of these animals require just makes life on us much harder. Rhinos for example have a preferred food of turnip which can be found and grown only in the tundra biome, but rhinos are not even in those biomes yet somehow, they want this food that they’ve never seen while growing up (thinking of it from a real-life perspective) and they want it bad. I understand that you want to make people sail all around, but you do understand that this world is massive, and not everyone wants to sail for 5 hours to get food which then expires, the possibility of the person losing a ship, a tame or so on just for food. I know some people will say why don’t you just feed it berries/vegetables, because some of us want to breed and are looking for the highest quality tames, which brings me to breeding. Breeding – Currently it is extremely difficult to breed, Ive wanted to breed my bears for sometime now and have to actually sail north towards a climate that they can mate together so that the offspring’s don’t just die from the heat/cold, I would like to suggest a new material, which is ice. Yes people would have to either sail towards the poles, tundra or the top of mountains on specific island within their zone. The ice would obviously decay, and there should be a specific barrel that people could use to put the ice in similar to the water barrels, where they can store the ice. This would again follow real world mechanics where people in the past did this. This ice would then be used to cool down rooms so that the right breeding temperatures can be met for breeding. 4. Animals I would love to see more animals in this world, I am always excited to just get more and more, its literally like catching Pokémon. I am literally travelling from island to island just to see if there are animals there that I have yet to tame, but unfortunately, I have not seen anything extra. Mind you, there are over 6.5 million species of animals on land, and over 2.2 million animals in the ocean, if we can even get around 100-500 animals in total that would be amazing. This could be due to the game just starting off, but having more animals is always a positive especially in a massive world like this. This would give incentive for people to traverse the entire world just to get a specific type of species that they cant get in their zone. Also, I would love if you guys included a flying mount to fly around your island, This flying mount will obviously not get you from zone to zone, but it is enough to help you get to the other side of the island and would be fun in general. Obviously taming ocean animals is a big + 5. Farming As mentioned earlier regarding the turnips, people should be able to regulate temperatures within their farms to allow for the growth of certain types of vegetables/fruits. Currently we can grow vegetables, I would love to see that extended to fruits as well. We should also be able to make fish farms where we can breed them, and they lay 100’s of eggs which can then be used as another type of food (caviar) or they could be used to grow more fish for slaughtering. This would require people to be able to make pools, which I have no clue how would work from a programming perspective. Again different zones would have different types of fish and different types of flavors/recipes that could be made which would give people an even bigger incentive to sail to other islands. More will be added as I keep thinking about more suggestions. On a side note, it would be amazing if you guys can buff a giraffe or bull to get more thatch as thatch is literally the commodity of trade right now, not gold. People actually want thatch because its so hard to come by or is a lot of work. Another idea is to have events throughout the week, now what would those events be I can’t think of anything but maybe someone can give their suggestion on this. As I said previously, these are my opinions take them however you see fit.
  9. HAHAHAHA we all know the answer to that. Devs are probably working on a way to implement a MTX system into the game where NPCs can "mail" your resources back from freeports for some ATLASBUX. (Well, at least one of my ideas they might listen to... Anyway.) First of all, I do want to say that I'm going to give the devs a ton of credit for how much the game has improved since launch. The stability of the game is much better than it was, and there have been some pretty decent balance-focused changes, like harvest rate and ship resource cost. I also recognize what they're trying to do, and how ambitious it is. Yes, there's only 4 servers... Or more specifically, 4 server clusters with 255 servers each in them. It's a massive undertaking, and is something that I've only seen one other game attempt, and fail pretty hard at. But with that being said, I'm going to offer my two cents which nobody asked for about changes that I think are important. 1) The golden age ruin islands. I get that it's supposed to be hard to get powerstones, and the fountain of youth. But for the love of god, cut the spawn rate of monsters that can one-tap players in... I don't know, half? Especially if you're going to force players to do the fountain of youth or face rather annoying, and in some cases fairly significant, debuffs. I've spent 6 hours over the last two days trying to get to a fountain with dozens of other people. I have had no luck, *especially* on D12. You just get killed So. Many. Damn. Times. I'm on the PVP server. I wouldn't be going to these ruins for powerstones unless I got bored with the game. If you're forcing us to go there or get crippling debuffs, at least make it so we don't have to spend hours trying. Or even put in a little notification about whether the fountain is currently at that island so I don't waste hours trying to get to something that isn't even there. 2) Stone wall resource "rebalance". It's stupid. Sap is already hard to get. Metal, less so. And buffing cannons at the same time? This really sucks for smaller companies like mine (about 10 active players). We're fortunate that we had a decent stone base built up before the change, but raids are going to SUCK. Sap is hard to find on a lot of tiles, not just tundra/polar ones. There's other ways to increase the resource cost without making it nigh impossible. 3) Cheaters. Right now, one of the most common cheats I've seen myself, and seen complained about here, involve rapid fire cannons/swivel guns. It cannot possibly be that hard to find out how the companies who have dozens of people using those bugs are doing it. And it's ridiculous. The glitches with explosive barrels are pretty bad too. Also, mounts are ridiculously OP at the moment, but that's another topic. 4) Land claims part 1. It's tough to find claimable land anywhere. I know that one of the recent patches made it so that the more claims a company had, the faster their claims could get lost. This is good, but it's not enough. I suggest adding in two hard limits: A hard limit on number of claims (say, 600, which would allow 2 claims per person in a max size company), and maybe 100 for a single company in a single tile. This would have a couple of effects. First, all companies could only place 600 claims globally. Obviously a 10-person company still has to defend that many and it would be much harder for them to do so, especially with the faster declaim rates. Second, the 100 per tile would allow more claims by different companies on the same island or tile, which might allow for a company to set up a raid base without immediately notifying the company they plan on raiding. 5) Land claims part 2. Maybe it would be easier to implement a system where the claim rate is tied to the difference in number of land claims between the two companies. For instance, if a company has 5 claims and places a claim against a company with 100, they claim much faster than if the company with 100 places against one of their 5. This would help smaller companies get established on non-lawless zones. Now, most of these obviously benefit smaller companies like mine more. And that's partly because I'm biased, but partly because no changes are going to affect the huge companies significantly. If anything, it will create more action between the big companies. It's far too easy to turtle. So, to erase any accusations of bias on my part, I offer the final thing I'd like to see, even though it could absolutely screw my company over.... SOFT WIPE THE WHOLE DAMN THING. Especially if the plan is to not reduce the resource costs for stone structures. Delete all structures. Untame all mounts. Despawn all stored resources. Unclaim all land. Allow ships to stay. Give everyone a free re-spec, and allow them to spawn where they last logged out. Companies that have tons of land, all gated off, with huge stone structures, all from a time when those structures were cheaper, are at a ridiculous advantage right now. I don't know what the goal of the balance changes are, but there's no way to know how they affect the game balance without a soft wipe.
  10. Secret to what? Keeping the no lifers having the advantage in this game? I've seen taverns in games, normally they are just cosmetic. Someone on a server I play on built a bunch of beach huts to make it look like a resort. People love to create the fantasy of something, but I've never seen it actually work in any kind of functional way in a game (although I don't play a lot of different games). I think when it comes right down to it, a lot of people playing sandbox style games like making stuff and modifying stuff in the game to give it a personal touch. If you can only rent and not build, that just isn't appealing to me or most people. I've seen that rare player that likes to remain mobile and have a traveling base. That person might want to visit or stay at one of these places a short while, but so far the fantasy of living on a ship is not really a thing in Atlas.
  11. Elaboration: I assume you know what's happening, if not, i'll explain it from the player's perspective, along with the solution to ending the cycle of never-ending transfers and oft days-long inability to log in: When transferring, one player on the boat is cloned. This causes the entire mess. The boat pops back and forth, ranging from the shortest I have seen being 4 minutes, the longest being over 48 hours (and twice at that.) When the players can finally log in again, if they waited it out and didn't go to sleep or miss the correction and allow the boat to sink from degradation.. YOU MUST KILL THE CLONES. If not, and you board another boat or continue sailing, crossing any server boundary, or logging out and back in again, can and very often will "trade you" with the clone. EVEN IF THE CLONE IS DEAD, so long as you did not also destroy the body (harvest/dispose) AND empty any item cache or take the items onto yourself. If you leave the body on one boat, logged out and sleeping, then board another boat.. You can be transferred from halfway across the world to the old one.. Causing the boat you were previously on to glitch out, lock up the entire server in never-ending lagspikes of massive severity (seen often by players not understanding THIS is what is causing whole servers to lock up to insane degrees) and also prevent your company mates on the other boat from logging in. The cloning of players is the cause. And the only solution, when the players can log in.. is to kill them, harvest them, and leave NO item cache at all. Leave no trace, or expect the issue to recur for days on end at times. And guess what? 99%+ of the playerbase doesn't know this. That I do, and that I tell my audience.. Is the only reason we can still play despite our 12 man company experiencing this DAILY with only 3-4 active players per day. That is a serious problem that locks up entire servers, locks out entire accounts, deleted multiple player bodies and sinks entire boats without a chance to prevent it. So what I need to see is a patch note, even just "down the road" acknowledging the issue exists. That's all. Because then you're committed to looking into improving the conditions that cause it and the experience of those subjected to it. EDIT: As for what it does to entire servers.. I'm sure you know waves are serverside, take a look: https://clips.tidylabs.stream/MarkedFrameSlippery We've all seen that insane lag affect entire servers for hours or even days on end... Well, the cloning on transfers and what it does to boats is the cause.
  12. I don’t think it is I who needs medication. Are you feeling ok? You sir have a potty mouth. are you here just to insult other forum goers? I haven’t really seen you say anything positive either to be honest.
  13. You're right, new console player. I've been through the forums and I've seen some of the content changes that have been less than fortunate. While I can see why the community is upset with the development of this game so far, I don't believe downright bashing the developers(Which I've seen plenty of times) is the way to get them to move in the right direction. I have don't a twitter, but most of the developers seem fairly active on there compared to here. So maybe we can move our thoughts to that platform to encourage to developers to refocus. I believe Atlas has far more potential than Ark in many ways and I'm hopeful that they will continue to pursue this. It's clear they still have a team working on this game, but not what it used to be.
  14. Take a look at what lawless server are currently like - now add to that the resource spawn radius of a non-lawless server and you'll get an idea of what it would be like without claim flags. I get that it's hard to find any land to claim and we sailed for a good few days before asking a group of friends if we could join them because we couldn't find any. I haven't come across mega's in any of the servers yet who have taken up an entire island for themselves (granted, we've only explored about 10 regions in full so far) - all we've seen are a lot of smaller companies sharing an island with each other and protecting the resources there. I've also seen a lot of companies allowing other players to build on their land now with varying tax rates, so I don't think the issue here is claim flags, but more so people not wanting to pay taxes, or people in fear of losing their stuff should the land owner decide to change the flag status to allow none. Two flags max per company of min 20 is ludicrous. Our company is now up to 20 players and although we've built along the beach front and over the ocean (in order to preserve resources), we have perhaps 5 land flags and 5 ocean flags in total (all overlapping and being overlapped by other companies) and it's just barely enough for us. Two of our flags protect and area high up in the mountains with resources that cannot be found any where else on the island. So from our point of view, it's not about hogging land - it's about protecting what is there and making the most of a small amount of space. I can say the same for all the other companies sharing the island with us (at least 10 companies in total) - we're all doing the same thing, and from what I've seen on other claimed islands, those companies are also doing the same thing. Personally, I think the real issue which needs to be addressed by Grapeshot is lack of servers at launch, decay timers on sleepers and the way contesting a claim is currently handled.
  15. I've only lost 1 personally; that was to a monsterous whale climbing into a shallow rocky cove to mete out his cetacean rage while I was offline. I've seen a fair number of other people's ships sunk. Most of them during the night of blood when the SotD's were introduced. I've seen a couple sloops sunk outside one guys base in my home region that seemed to have been over-weighted. The same guys tried overweight mine too while visiting that island; so must be their 'thing'. Another one was a brig that got sunk because they left a chicken aboard and a croc gnawed it's way through the hull to get it. We also encountered schooner that zoomed through the shallows near my base wayy too fast and hit this TINIEST rock, below the waterline that you'd never know was there unless you were a regular in the region, which holed it, the captain apparently beached it before it 'sank' but lacked spare planks and just abandoned it there on the shore (Finder's keepers!) Oh and I've seen several skeletal ship hulls lying abandoned in Freeports... no need to explain how THOSE got there
  16. I had wondered as I do have 2 storey walls... But I have never seen anything jump over anything unless they have been butted by something else (seen an elephant butt a wolf pretty far but not over a 2 storey wall (unless off a cliff, which our base isn't near it's just flat coastal. I think they're just spawning, and our base has a spawn point. Seen all kinds of animals in here now... chickens, pigs, an elephant, wolves, crocks and snakes... interestingly they all appear around the same area. So we have boxed it in. Unusable part of the base, but everything seems contained, and nothing has been found wandering around the complex now.
  17. thats the thing. ive never seen more than 5 of them either. Its always the same names, Its always the same 2 people aim hacking, and its always the same 5 people teleport hacking. I have yet seen other people other than the same 5 people to be logged on. I didnt have my streamlabs running during the hacking but i did get screenshots of 1 of their floating cannons. they have multiple and I have seen them move positions multiple times
  18. So this has to be one of the most depressing communities i have ever been part of, literally most of people who comment on posts here are just whining and complaining, every Positive post about the game gets bashed, every New comer gets neglected and told to not buy the game, every update patch notes gets a meh and more whining like seriously what the hell is wrong with these people? the game had a rough launch we get it but if you don't like it then no one is forcing you to stick to it and if you don't play it no need to sh!t on it and move on go play something else, why would you waste your time here if you just gonna be a negative c*nt who does nothing but put new players off? and my god let's just not talk about r/PlayAtlas everyone there is a d!ickhead they literally do nothing but whine and sh!t on everyone who says anything good about the game like they do nothing else with their time. ARK launched in worse state compared to ATLAS back then and it manged to pull though and now it's one of the most played Steam game of all time, but we are not giving ATLAS any chance other than complaining, i know the devs have been slacking due to Genesis DLC but there is no reason to put off new comers nor whine about it, The most complain i heard was "it's ARK 2.0" like is that even an insult? what is wrong with ARK? i love ARK i have over 2k hours and i have and still enjoy every moment of it, yes i have ran into bugs but it's not common at all and every patch has a lot of bug fixes in it, most people who complain have potato PC. Every Developer Re-uses their Assets in their future games i mean literally every game does this it's nothing new, Path of Exile devs had an entire Hour dev talk about how Devs should save time by re-using Assets in order to focus on making the game better than just re-create everything which will take years and years! why create a new asset when you have already made one which took you years and ready to go with some tweaks? ATLAS has a better foundation than ARK had in Early Access. if you want your voice heard DISCUSS not complain, if you want bugs fixed report them, send a ticket but keep in mind it's an EARLY ACCESS game and you know what that means it means it's in its testing phase it's not complete and it needs a lot of work i agree but not when there is a lot of negativity that may destroy the wills of the devs, Jesus even the community mangers gets bashed to oblivion. in the end i just hope to see less negativity and more positivity in this community, less whining more helping new players instead of telling them to go away, i have seen people ask for help on certain topics and never got any response for weeks heck even months but when there is a whining post everyone jumps in. i really want this game to evolve as ARK did, i want them to work on the Road Map, add more content fix the bugs, optimize the game yet i don't whine i just discuss them instead but at this rate i don't think it would come out of Early Access with that much Negativity surrounding the game and it's community. So please i don't want ATLAS to die as Dark and Light did, let us discuss and have fun i'm tired of seeing negativity in on every, comment, post, video, if you don't like it go play something else and let us enjoy it, hope you all have a nice day/night. PS: this is mostly targeted towards the community and not the game or the devs, i know the game has not seen any major updates for a while now and most people think the devs have abandoned the game but that's whole different topic and i will not touch on that here.
  19. THIS and so much this. its looks like the official servers are unmoderated, unprotected and uncared for. yes they maintain technical integrity and stability as good as they can. but I seriously doubt they ever logged onto their own game for more than a couple of minutes. the whole system shows that. they mabe tried to once if "mining works" or "taming interface comes up".. but never actually invested hours in taming something themselves, as well as mining something to build something big themselves. they dont have the slightest clue on how this weight griefing is actually done on theri servers. they have never seen a horde or players gliding onto a ship and unloading, they have never seen ships with dedicated boarding ramps built on them just for the sole purpose of being able to sink ships. (they use their own ships just as a stepping stone to help board others) it seems - and many otrher suggested - that the company doesnt give arats arese about PVE and what happens there. the claim system - although bad - might be workable in PVP; in PVE its a gamebreaking issue. yet they keep it and change some timers. sorry to inform you that its not timers that are the issue. its the underlying mechanic of being able to conest and then claim everything thats in that claim. ARK had some of the worst Meta i´ve ever seen in an online game: big Tribes basically shutting down whole servers. sealclubbing anyone that was new or tryied to make it. offline raiding - which is the lowest form of "pvp" , if you even can call that pvp. yet the game seems to be directly developed to foster exactly this behavior. if there are no rules , these things (griefing and abusive behavior) will occur more often than not. if theere are rules, but nobody enforces them, its like having no rules at all. a lot of games treied to build their whole online-premise around a 100% player driven content and "socioety". ALL of them have failerd miserably. that does not mean they failed ecomomically though - ARK was pretty darn successfull I guess. but community-wise, those games never got the longevity and "society", that they could have.
  20. Yeah im guessing copper is the same way. i've looked at a ton of high/low desert and haven't seen it anywhere. Unfortunately i dont have a spot to put down a market.
  21. 1. We are talking about real Pirates. Real Pirates did not prefer a fight, and modified their ships to be stealthier and faster. They tipped their ships more often than the Royal Navy did...a lot more often. Why? Speed. Speed is life. They did these things so they could avoid a fight with the Government Navies. And the whole point of raising the Jolly Roger...The Black, was to give the opposing ship the opportunity to cooperate. This is true for all pirates. They are after the cargo, not a fight. How they act, however, is dependent upon how the governments, and companies they are raiding, act. In Asia, it is possible they fought more, if the code their was a lifetime of dishonor for losing a ship to pirates. I have not researched the pirates of that area of the world...just the Caribbean Pirates. The point here, is that the game can reward and encourage this type of play, through that reputation system. The one that even you agreed would be good. The point here is that gamers do what works, and stop doing what does not work. I have seen this time and again over decades of gaming. I have seen a Devs hard work be made pointless, because the Dev team didn't take into account that, for instance, a turret on a bomber will not be used, if it can't destroy an enemy plane, and the enemy planes won't respect it if it is not a danger to them. 2. Your and You're To help you since I like you. 3. A PvP game is more fun when it's actually PvP. Have you noticed that you can't just claim somebody's territory that has a building on it, with somebody sleeping inside? You have to actually kill them. That is at least a step in the right direction. ORP should be a thing. It can be set differently. On most servers, it did not prohibit offline raids, but it did make it a whole lot more expensive. The defensive turrets get a buff, and structures get a buff. Once you log back on, that buff goes away. The enemy is not unaware of the buff, and they are not unaware when it is deactivated. If you prefer PvP, and not PvE disguised as PvP, you would be advised to bend a little further. 4. You do not need skill trees to enhance trading and bartering. You need what's already in the game, along with more incentives to trade based on YOUR Island having what others need, but not having everything you need. These skill trees do nothing but limit what you can do. So I will only play on an unofficial server that boosts you skill points so that you aren't locked into a small area of the game, which means I have more fun. I already see the handwriting on the wall...the official servers will be a mess of restricted gameplay, and toxicity. Those who actually want to enjoy the game will avoid it. 5. People did not come here to play ARK. They came for the ships. If the Devs fail to understand this, it will end up being a niche game with small community. The more you keep people off those ships, the less inclined they will be to play it. That would be like keeping people off T-Rexes, Gigas, Wyverns, and Quetzals. People would have stopped playing. Taming them was somewhat challenging, but not frustrating. It didn't take you long to get them. At least not on unofficial servers. Making them take long on official simply punishes those who come to the game late. The problem is thinking you can mix Single player game time progression with an MMORPG. If you are going to do that, you better have some New Player Servers for people to level up on, before they go to the main arena. 7. No, Rafts do not carry much. Three people on a raft with their combined hauls equals that raft isn't going anywhere. We always have to dump part of our loads on the ground. Even with boosting the carry weight of the raft. Even if we all use our own raft, this is the case. But that's realistic. You aren't going to carry much metal on a raft. Then you add in that you go with the wind going from one spot on the island, to fighting the wind on the return trip. And how will that help us, since our base is in the middle of a large island. Still takes a lot of trips to get everything to the base, from our port area? We thought about taming elephants, but pray tell, how do you get any animal onto a ship? Elephants are not on our Island. This game is a long way from Prime Time. 8. The PvE ships should have been Pirate ships with something distinct about them that makes them recognizable. In addition, for the Pirates in the crowd, there should be NPC Merchants to chase and sink, with them even giving up randomly if they take enough damage. Those SotD should still be more rare than they are, as they are not something anyone is going to fight right now. Have you seen the HP on them? A red one was camped outside the bay that one of our Allies use to build ships. It was level 30 with over 100,000 HP. Most people couldn't even sink that with a well crewed Galleon. It's like fighting a modern warship with your 17th Century Sailing ship. It's a little bit stupid...or maybe a whole lot stupid. When H.O.D. says they are OP, you know they are a lot OP. 9. I am OK with PvP on the water, so long as it makes sense, and if the water also contains NPC ships indistinct from the player ships, it will make it easier for normal players to get to and from without PvP, when they aren't interested in it. The issue is really that your ship, when anchored near you Island, is a sitting duck with no ability to defend itself. If you set up in a narrow bay, the opposing side will take cannons to shore, and set them up where your bow or stern are facing. If the ship pivots on its anchor to bring the cannons to bear, the guys on your ship will open up with your ship's cannons. But, the other issue is that if you get sunk on the sea, more often than you don't, people will stop using ships to transport anything. You have agreed that trading and bartering will be good for the game. To do that, you need to get to the destination and back, more often than not. Much more often than not. That's just a fact.
  22. I've seen a lot of people get their knickers in a huge know over the fact that you can tame and ride creatures in this game and how it was meant to be about sailing, piracy, melee combat and primitive firearms. Well, I understand your concerns and I just want to set a few things straight. 1. As far as I know, tameable creatures have a maximum level of 30 when wild, and they can only level up twice as many time as their base level once tamed, so there is essentially no way to acquire totally OP death machines as was the goal in ARK from the get go. Creatures have their uses, but they are not the focus. 2. I have played over 100 hours on PvP NA and seen ZERO mounts used in combat, and, in fact, ZERO tames at all apart from my own Chickens and Sheep, which obviously are not for combat... The fact is that this game was designed from the ground up to encourage melee and firearm combat as can be clearly seen by how the weapons are balanced. 3. A single shot from a firearm is enough to kill most players unless they are specced in defensive capabilities, just as it should be. Tames are much less reliable and I highly doubt they will ever be the go to combat meta in this game. To sum up, Atlas's creature systems have been significantly tweaked as compared to ARK to better align with the game-play concepts of Atlas and meet player expectations. I suspect as we go things will only get better on this front.
  23. 24. Yeah im figuring out all the changes as I go along. Thanks for the heads up on the Manned stuff for crew etc. Need to get another level to get the large speed sails. Kinda forgot to get that part. Figure i'll work on that next. I went out and got some rhinos, giraffe, elephants yesterday. Was able to actually find a place to put a mine where i'm currently residing. It's nice but honestly not needed as you said. I have pretty much given up on the whole warehouse idea. I mean the only redeeming thing about the whole warehouse is storage/market/traderoutes-( wanted to experience that and so I don't have to make 50 billion chests). I mean the whole fix would be taking out the radius. Putting it in the company. Slap a limit of 1 per company and call it a day. I have noticed that huge amounts of claim towers are going down just for the farmhouses/warehouses etc. The amount of sotd groups has made me turn my focus to getting at least a brig made. I mean the schooner is great and all but it was ultimately just for finding land after I lost my second sloop. Thankfully I was at shore on a lawless island outside of a freeport so I could rescue the 5k gold I had on it. I mean still. I am not a fan of this gold cost for a ship skeleton. I could see gold cost on the newer specialty ships. But you basic bitches aka the original ships shouldn't have that tied to them. While the rates at 5x gold are fine. If it was 1x. No way in hell. Bit by bit im starting to understand why the player counts are as low as they are. If you just bought the game. Seen a treasure map for 100 gold and the 5k cost for a schooner. That is a giant deterrent. I mean it took me 3 hours to sail home from a freeport on a sloop- going from B8 to C2. I coulda gone the other way through polar-but naked in a sloop. OH helllllllll no.
  25. The issue being ive traveled a ton of grids just to find one spot to put down 2 claim towers. People say there is open land...where? The settlements. Oh yeah majority say Not Accepting Settlers. I pretty much refuse to live on a settlement due to the fact i could lose everything if somone decides to be an asshole. So again. Where is this land. Sure I could sail around for another week and hope people dont log in. Sorry but if i dont make progress in a game within a week. That spells the end of the game for me. Living off a sloop isn't my idea of a good time considering two have already been sunk. The only place ive seen open land is in the tundra. Ok so lets go back to when you first started the game. Did you have enough stuff to survive the polar regions? In a few days did you have a schooner w/Ballistas to take down whales? Esp with the cost of the ships these days. Yep i've got the whole 2300 hours played. It was when the game first came out. I stopped when they brought in the owning an island or living on someone elses settlement. The only reason i came back was due to the claim towers going back to the original system. Yep i found 2 blueprints for a mine and lumberyard that i stupidly built thinking well. I could place them. Warehouse too. Yep buncha shit wasted. Unless i've missed something im guessing this teleporting you are speaking of is fast traveling to a bed. I mean sure its great if you find open spots without other peoples stuff. Im late to the dance and either waiting for server wipe, maybe find some claims not being updated or my only ship a schooner will get destroyed and i'll uninstall the game at that point because the rediculous gold cost for a ship skeleton is a bit steep. I hit level 56 before i actually found a place to call a kinda home. The main point is that the whole automated thing-They advertise it. Sure one or two people per island will get lucky enough to utilize them. But its honestly the biggest joke.
