  5. I want to thank the creators for giving me a great experience filled with many ups and downs. There's so much more that can be possible in this game of neverending oceans. Unfortunately, Ive done it all and completed all the achievements only to hit that ceiling of nothingness. So many others have left ahead of me while still encountering the griefers and minecraft builders around so many corners of the grid. The crickets sing their songs from the dev's corner and no rumors of activity spew forth for new content or QOL changes. The same old bugs and glitches run rampant and we continue to lose ships at the hands of sotd as they camp at each border crossing. This game has now become simply a chore to which I do daily, and that is what I will simply no longer tolerate. The thrill is gone amd so are the creators. Another "almost-masterpiece" that will go quietly into the night. Thank you Atlas, for allowing me to have some great experiences with good friends. So long atlas... So long.

  7. Bear Pregnant! It's GOOD! I can tell when baby is due. Can it be made to have AI help? Or, do they only just sit and stand at a cannon or balista? Make real traits, and you'll win the game. P.S. I can tell a pregnant girl! (Good effect!) Also, I see a jealous guy(imaginary effect). I pet my animal and it givesme the proper RESPECT ! ~Make more animal character animations ~yelling!..sing it Aretha Franklin!
  8. Sooooooo, your suggestion is that we should take the sailing part out of the sailing/pirate game? I mean Atlas is already a pirate game in theory that has no actual piracy in it, so why not? Let's just get rid of the sailing bit too and we can all roast marshmellows at Realist's place and sing camp songs and ride around on some of these new tames that make no florfing sense and look like someone's bad acid trip. While we're at it we could build a huge sign with enormous letters as big as a galleon's mainmast for the benefit of anyone foolish enough to actually build and sail a ship for no discernible purpose that says: WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

This statement is based on a popular romanticized notion of pirates, but in fact there is ample historical precedent for pirate settlements, fortresses and even beyond this more sophisticated political and military operations besides just plundering merchant shipping. Familiar with the US Marine Corps Hymn? When marines sing From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of tripoli They are referencing when President Thomas Jefferson dispatched marines in a war against Barbary pirates based in Tripoli which had been capturing and ransoming US sailors in large scale sophisticated operations from fortified bases. You don’t put lyrics in your battle hymn that reference just seizing a harbor. On Tortuga Jean de Vasseur, a buccaneer who had once worked as a military engineer built Fort de Rocher, a 24 gun castle, to protect the pirate stronghold from attack. Ladies, want a good historical female pirate name? Grace O Malley commanded over 20 vessels and in 1574 led a successful counterattack that forced government forces from Galway that had been besieging her castle into a retreat. Her operation controlled Clew Bay in Ireland and terrorized that nations coastal areas for years. Not just a swashbuckling combat leader O Malley met queen Elizabeth I in person in 1593, successfully negotiating her son’s release and return of her ships from the crown. During the golden age of piracy Port Royal was effectively a pirate town. Look up St Mary’s island off Madagascar, New Providence and Barataria Bay, all of them were pirate settlements that lasted for years if not generations. The point is that as with many things, the historical reality of piracy has been abridged, modified and selectively edited by popular culture in order to present a highly romanticized notion of what pirates were. Now personally I agree that Atlas should focus more on its seafaring aspects because romanticized or not, this what players are mostly looking for when they buy a game advertised as pirate fantasy themed. I just wanted to set the record straight as to historical reality vs pop culture mythology. There is a historical precedent for many of these aspects of Atlas’s gameplay, the problem is they loom larger in the player experience than they probably should, given what people tend to be expecting.
  12. Was it really your idea???? Just saying I have certainly advocated for Government, Law and Order and Factions for quite some time now.... But seriously trying to claim Factions as an idea is like claiming your were the first person to sing a song!
  13. I might repeat myself, but you should NOT increase the likelyhood of having your ship destroyed in order to "make sailing more interesting". I do not find losing a ship interesting or entertaining by any stretch of the imagination! You could of course introduce more things to encounter, but it should be a conscious decision of each individual player to encounter them. If you just want to haul ass from A to B, you should totally be able to do that, without too much disruption (if you choose to take the "boring" route). I have no wish to engage in SotD or mermaid battle when i am carrying tons of rare metals across the atlas. I understand that i should not be able to completely avoid them alltogether, but there should be some kind of risk vs reward balance in terms of risk to run into anything dangerous vs spending a little more time travelling but being more safe. I think having a "rain dance" type of song where you can shorten the time a doldrum occurs is a good idea, but probably difficult to get it right, as expectedly everyone and their grandmothers would immediately play that song like no tomorrow at the slightest sing of declining wind... But the devs should keep in mind that the very thing that makes any video game compelling is the ability to decide your own fate and to determine your next action. Simply put: having a CHOICE! Being forced to sit on your thumbs because you can't do anything due to sitting on a boat in the middle of nowhere without any means of propulsion and still having to guard it against NPC (who still have propulsion) is the exact opposite of both interesting and fun.
  14. The mermaids only spawn in the ocean in the golden age ruins. Both the friendly and aggressive mermaids sing you off your ship. If you’re watching for it, you can see the mermaids area of effect for their singing. It’s a yellow circle with yellow musical notes rising from it in the waters surface. When you enter the circle, you get a debuff with no timer and will start bouncing towards the side of your ship. You can control yourself somewhat to stay on the ship with your directional keys. Even after leaving the AoE, you’ll still have the debuff for a short period. I’ll have to try the laying prone tip the next time I encounter one. If you have crew manning the sails and all players are off the ship, the crew will furl your sails. If you’re on your own, I hope you’ve got a bed on board and are not sailing directly at a very close island (I’ve not seen them spawn close to land though.) The aggressive mermaids are dark colours and will grab you and start dragging you underwater. This starts a mini game for you to punch the mermaid to break free. Don’t worry though. Chances are a shark will eat you both first. The friendly mermaids have brighter colours, and once you get close enough you’ll get the achievement and a small amount of a resource in your inventory. I don’t really see a huge gain from having the achievement. 35% extra stamina gain is nice, but not game changing. So don’t worry too much about not having the achievement. You’ll get it eventually.

I actually like the concept as a tool to keep people from contesting a claim. Capturing people in one war window and holding them through the following window is a legitimate tactic. Beyond that point, the negative outweighs the benefit to the game. I don’t want to drive people to quit. That means less people to fight. One issue I had I think deals with being confined to one gps location. I was being kicked occasionally for idling too long. I tried moving my head and shouting, but I don’t believe it prevented the kick. To improve gameplay, instead of having to spam shout to kill my stamina and die, I would rather have a mini game for the gibbet, cage, and guillotine that triggers Atrophy, Spider Bites, or Rat Nips. These could all give you a slow poison effect. You could even have these stacking with each successful mini game. Eventually, the debuffs should overcome any med kits.

  18. We're pirates. So why should I fight another ship, if there's no gold to steal? If this would be a Disney game - OK. Then we could sing and dance together. But it's not. Also on PvE. If there's a sunken playership -> loot it and hope for some good benefits. And what the heck is popcorning?
  19. Ahoy Pathfinders! One week has passed since the launch of our Mega-update 1.5 (ATLAS v100), and what a crazy voyage it’s been! As mentioned in our previous announcement, this update has been one of the largest we’ve ever worked on as a team and we are incredibly proud of the results. The last few days have shown us that these changes have been a step in the right direction to help fulfill ATLAS’ ambition of becoming the ultimate fantasy pirate adventure. Since the patch launched, we have been continuing to iterate daily based on your feedback and reports, and have plenty more being cooked up as we speak. This log will talk about some of the new content you’ll get to experience in our upcoming mega update, our Easter Event, as well as the future of Empires. update on empires and na pve After careful consideration, we have decided that we will be shutting down the Empire network as it has been demonstrated by the players that the Colonies & Settlement system is much more favored. We suspected this to be the case prior to the launch of these servers, but we believe in trying out and testing new systems and want to make the best use of Early Access as we can. The results speak for themselves, so as of tomorrow, Friday the 19th, at 7 PM Eastern the Empire Server will be shut down. This network will be replaced with a North American PvE network using the existing Colonies system. We still believe that there is a place in the game for ambitious PvP players, and we believe that open-ended PvP is a really important and fun part of ATLAS. We want to find a way we can still support those goals whilst still keeping our more controlled and rule-based PvP. The Hoppening This weekend, the ATLAS will be paid a visit by the Magical Easter Bunny! They’ve struck a deal with the Cosmetic Vendor at your local Freeport and will be giving away their specially branded Bunny Ears for a small donation of Easter Eggs! So hop on into the ATLAS this weekend and join the hunt for eggs which are buried in treasure or can be collected from chickens. Before you know it, you too could be standing proud--or at least standing--with your very own Bunny Ears!   20. Ahoy Pathfinders! One week has passed since the launch of our Mega-update 1.5 (ATLAS v100), and what a crazy voyage it’s been! As mentioned in our previous announcement, this update has been one of the largest we’ve ever worked on as a team and we are incredibly proud of the results. The last few days have shown us that these changes have been a step in the right direction to help fulfill ATLAS’ ambition of becoming the ultimate fantasy pirate adventure. Since the patch launched, we have been continuing to iterate daily based on your feedback and reports, and have plenty more being cooked up as we speak. This log will talk about some of the new content you’ll get to experience in our upcoming mega update, our Easter Event, as well as the future of Empires. update on empires and na pve After careful consideration, we have decided that we will be shutting down the Empire network as it has been demonstrated by the players that the Colonies & Settlement system is much more favored. We suspected this to be the case prior to the launch of these servers, but we believe in trying out and testing new systems and want to make the best use of Early Access as we can. The results speak for themselves, so as of tomorrow, Friday the 19th, at 7 PM Eastern the Empire Server will be shut down. This network will be replaced with a North American PvE network using the existing Colonies system. We still believe that there is a place in the game for ambitious PvP players, and we believe that open-ended PvP is a really important and fun part of ATLAS. We want to find a way we can still support those goals whilst still keeping our more controlled and rule-based PvP. Atlas is NOT a pirate game at all, it is a survivalgame with ships. there a no villages to raid to steal food and goods no big mergant companies ships to plunder no countries like Spain, GB or France armyships go after you you cant go into a pub to drink, sing dirty songs and go after waitresses... this are the essentials for a pirate and should be on the pve part of this game and not micro managing vitaminlevels every 5 minutes or sitting for two days to raise an animal
  22. I humbly request "when we sail together" from sea of thieves, our company has a few people who sing it together sometimes and it would be cool to play the song with them. Edit: Ive found a MIDI file and sheet music for it. Does that help? I have no musical experiance so i doubt i can do anything with it xD.
  23. Like many people have said the temperature needs a serious rework. Sitting around with 10 fires to keep a baby warm which doesn't work always and the baby still dies from cold is just frustrating. My main ideas is to add buildings you can craft (like the vault)in the breeding tree for some of your animals to live where you can even hire crew to help take care of them (like the S+ Nanny in Ark). I have two building ideas: 1.Give the ability for you to pick up only babies to put into the buildings to be raised and give an incubation buff which makes it so they dont die from cold or heat while inside. Would be like a storage for babies and tames to grow up and then produce you items when they are adults. 2. You could have the building have a hitching post in them and when you hitch the dinos in them your crew takes care of them and they get an incubation buff so they dont die form the cold or heat. Would be more of an open building and more interactive them just a storage. Will allow you to gather items from your tames too. Sheering sheep,milking cows etc. Both options will have a place to put a crew member to feed your babies when you are away. Have a feeding trough where you add food for the crew member to use to feed your babies and a resource box for the items your adults produce. Imprinting: I would like to see a change in how imprinting works. My idea is your baby gets imprinted slowly over time based on what kind of food you are feeding it. Based off the creatures preferred food item. Maybe even add an option to pet and/or cuddle your baby to increase your imprint slightly as well. Buildings for animals: Chicken/Bird Coop: Chickens produce eggs for you and feathers that act as a hide option for you. (All birds may go in here and produce you eggs and feathers) Barn: Sheep and cows produce milk for you and Sheep also produce wool/fur/fleece for you to use for hide. Horses can produce hair for you. Hog House: A place for your pigs where it produces truffles(for food and cooking), animal feces, and worms. Bear Den: A place for your bears to produce Honey for you. Add a beehive to the game you have to get to add to the bear den for your bear to get honey from. Animal Barn: I would be happy with an option to make just one building that acts as a animal breeding and gathering house that holds all your breedable tames with a crew hire help option. Other Animal Change Ideas: Make all but the Razortooth and Shieldhorn breedable these guys should be powerful and not easy to get. Give ALL dinos that gather items a weight reduction on that item. Either make it so a dino only gathers 1 thing or the ability to turn off what they gather. (Example: Bear only gathers Fiber or able to turn off them gathering berries or fiber so it gathers just one item) Cargo Saddle: Needs to be able to carry cargo and not just a cannon. Lets you put some chests on it so its easier to move things back and forth from your ship to base. Bear: Seems to be in a good place to me. All around best tame imo. Have it only gather Fiber. Bull: Give them the ability to use the cart like the horse and bear and have them harvest thatch better then a pick axe. Razortooth: Rework what these do so its not just a yuty from ark. Shieldhorn: The reflect makes sense to me for this guy with his armored head. Give them a charge ability that stuns for a short time. Elephant: Have it JUST gather wood and small amounts of thatch. Giraffe: Have them aoe harvest JUST thatch from trees. They do have a long neck after all. Horse: Make them a passive tame or slow them down a bit when they wild cause they are awful to try to catch. Lion: Needs alittle buff. They seem to be pretty weak compared to the wolf and tiger except the alpha version which is far to powerful. Carrying smaller animals is a cool feature. Ostrich: Gathers Lots of berries and seeds. Rhino: Gathers JUST rocks and metal and gets some metal from normal rocks too. Tiger: Seems to be in a good place to me. Like the bleed damage. Wolf: Since they are pact animals they need a pact buff of some sort. Shoulder Pets: Monkey: Health regen and has a chance to pick open locked chests based on lvl of monkey. Penguin: Heat and Cold insulation for tames and players near by. Even though the hugging is hella cute make then sit on your shoulder and give them the swim speed bonus and underwater oxygen bonus the seagull has OR make turtles tameable and give them the ability to increase swim speed and underwater oxygen bonus.(Make turtles a shoulder pet) Parrot: Increase the buff of music being played near by and have them sing when doing so and a fortitude buff. Rabbit: Increase the chance to get more gold from treasure hunting and increase run speed. Seagull: Have them hunt fish for you in an area you choose and bring them back to fishing barrel. Fishing Barrel can have a radius on it for where it can fish at. Vulture: Helps you see animals and players with low health and decreases vitamin depletion.
  24. Found it in D12. It's a golden age island - power stone island. I didn't know they were in game till I found this and I've been playing since release and I've been on power stone islands many times before and never saw one. It seemed passive. After I took this screenshot I jumped into the water and it started to sing and I had either a buff or a debuff but she got scared and swam away very fast before I could see what it was. I have a screenshot of the singing but it has guild and ally chat in it and I don't want to link that.
