why would you want to assert dominance over a bunch of pixels if at the end of the day when you go out in real life you will still feel the need to quench your inferiority complex?

I noticed how their new community reps still haven't responded. Already off to a great start.

Because I bought the the game for pve NA, NA, NA NOT EU. Too many trolls and overcrowding on EU servers not to mention the ping. PVP should go play on the EU let's see how quickly you change your tune...just saying.

I agree with @AZ APOCALYPTIC on what he said about PVP vs PVE. I too will not be playing on the PVP servers. Working all day I prefer to login and have a more relaxing enjoyable play that is not just going to frustrate me. I get enough of that in the real world.

i do not want to partake in any pvp whatsoever, nothing but griefing and toxicity, forcing people who literally dont want any part in pvp is just going to kill the game for them and then you loose a really big chunk of your player base that you wont get in return, learn from the mistakes like blizzard have made... deciding for the players how they should be playing the game is only going to lead to more backlash, and more people leaving. maybe take a dedicated PVP server since they are already doing both pve and pvp.. pvp players would be more open to a change like this, i get that this is "early access" but the way this is being handled right now seems like constructive criticism isnt welcomed, and devs dont actually care about how any of the pve players feel about this change because "it's not what they want to see players doing" when taming/breeding/building etc is EXACTLY what players want.. dont punish the players for playing your game the way they want to play..

I spent six months on this game and over two different xboxes just specifically for this one game yall took a good thing and are literally ruining it we had a community we had friendships and trades and all sorts of stuff ourselves sure the content wasn't great but it still wont be yall took what we had and are literally crapping on it good for you I doubt I'll be part of that just so you can screw me later with another "necessary " wipe to add more bull crap amd take away the great parts of the game that made this a place I wanted to be part of guarantee you ruin everything i loved about this game while not fixing anything that was wrong time will tell but past dev's said they would fix things and only "fixed" minor stuff that was helpful to us the players and made the rest of the game lag central and loosing of tames wayyyyy worse once again I hope I'm wrong so restore my faith and you'll have a player for life though next time before you screw us how about a little more notice so we actually have time to do end game stuff if we haven't yet for all those daily grinders who never did end game stuff because they wanted to build an empire or have a million tames in short dont just lie to us about how you are gonna do all these great things then not deliver and if that's how yall are gonna do business I'll be taking my business else where

Hi Folks. I was brought on recently to help build a new team working exclusively on Atlas! I know there's been a lull in development lately, and we've actually got several things that are in development that we are going to be rolling out over the next couple months. I want to address a few design topics about this map. We wanted to get people moving around the world more. This map lays some of the groundwork for that, and aligns with some of the systems we're rolling out in the next couple months that we will have details on soon. What's shown here is the plant and weather biome layout, which dictates what type of plants an area contains. We've separated the mineral layer and the edges of those mineral biomes do not line up with the plant biomes. The areas in the middle of the map are densely populated with islands and are closest to the most diverse selections of plants and minerals. The outer areas of the map have less access to rich diversity of resources, and they also use the claim system. This is intentional. The outskirts are safer and less rewarding. In the short term, we expect more conflict in the center of the map around the Golden Age Islands. We're also introducing new systems for Trading that we will dive into soon. This should provide opportunities for both cooperation and conflict. What's a pirate game without the opportunity to pillage trade routes? More on that in the weeks to come.

Preach on. You really hit the nail on the head with the exact people you were talking about. This was a very good read.

the only thing they have changed in the map is the climate and plants/ores distribution, the fact that you have the equator in the northwest quadrant only means that quadrant will have equatorial-like weather/resources, if i was them i would have renamed those areas to avoid conceptual contradictions as equatorials are called that way due to their geographic location, but the most important part is that this + their statement about enciting conflict + their statement about "we want players traveling more" suggest we will no longer have a round world in wich you can access the other side of the world by simply going past the map border, if thats the case i rly hope the have reduced the size of each quadrant or given a boost to the boats speed since if things stay as they are (specially winds) this will become a very boring sailig simulator. many things can be done, but this is now a game of jenga so changing one simple feature implies deeply considering the others, hence if they try another ARK copy pasta they will just fail as miserably as the last dev team did.

I would never pay a subscription on an early access game.

well that was to be expected, i mean after the shitshow this game has become some consequences were in place, specially dollie who lacked the prudency, objectivity and professionalism needed to manage a community with posts that directly contradicted other post of her own team mates, wanted to misslead the community in critical posts (even when there was evidence proving her wrong) in benefit of the developer's team and finally reaching the point in wich she felt entitled to engage on direct confrontations with community members on the forums, i wish them both the best in life but i dont ever wanna play a game in wich they have a high responsability position within the developer's team.

Hopefully with the new system and map there's some kind of build limit on islands. I get tired of dashboarding as I approach an island only to load back in and my ship is crashed and I am dead because people build unnecessary structures that cause serious lag for others...

I don't want to get to know the new devs, the proof is in the pudding, they deliver then I will be back simple as that. I don't trust anyone at that place. They could have said something to us months ago but they choose not to, communication is key and they can't do the basics so forgive me for not wanting to know. Obviously mods naturally want to suck up for better things but that is not the way to go. You should be voicing the communities concerns and being more active on the forums just like the devs.

lol yep all the same island and you dont really discover anything. there are lots of other ways they could do this that would not feel like a chore

They are good at lying, they did the same thing with Ark. When Ark was in beta they plainly stated that the servers would not be wiped, so they had all of us suckers out there testing their broken game and when they released the game they called all the old servers legacy servers and wiped 70% of them right off the bat and the rest soon followed. Wildcard was a good co pant once upon a time and as soon as they came out with their first DLC which was still while the game was in game preview they became greedy. Just like the rest of their projects this one will never be finished, they will close servers, sell dlc to a game that is t finished and milk it the same way they milked Ark. pathetic business practice.

Your suggestion on vitamin deficiencies are out there, it is already hard enough to micromanage it as it is, I guess if you have a LARGE company that are doing the gathering and building and feeding and taming and raising the babes and gardening then sure as you have nothing to do anyway..... that would be fine but not for a solo player. I don't join large groups for a reason, I like to get my moneys worth out of a game and that means playing all aspects it has to offer, gathering, taming, mating, raising, etc. etc. why buy a game if you are just going to have others play it for you, seems a waste imo but to each their own.

Ok folks I have one teensy little issue with a smaller map. Dont get me wrong I like the idea of not having to sail for hour after hour to get anywhere, however, the na pve server has been taken offline giving the eu pve a massive influx of players already. Unfortunately and I know this is not going to be a popular opinion but the map needs to be made larger with more islands available to be claimed by smaller companies whilst somehow implementing a system that's stops the megas buying up all the smaller islands and instead making it more worthwhile for them to set up bases on the bigger islands. Also giving us the option of a cross platform server and dedicated console servers would be nice

I personally really enjoy meeting people while playing on PVE. Grouping together to complete tasks is a lot of fun to me rather than fighting each other. For me this is much more fun then just playing single player.

Pvp and pve are totally different play styles, I don't want to build ships that are wooden blocks loaded with cannons, and I wouldn't want forced conflict either. I am not alone by a long way in this view, please bear that in mind with the changes u make. Thx

I really hope you just take out some grids in current map. Im sure this sounds like a fix for some issues but I assure you that it will create new ones and take away a feeling of actually sailing the world instead of just some random map some game designers throw at us haphazardly. As a pve player since launch I wish you would just say if your not getting enough traffic on your pve servers to make it worth it because that would be the only reason I could see why you are taking a new direction. I feel basically you want to limit the money your spending on the official servers and run us to community servers. Most of us that choose official have multiple reasons but id say the biggest for me is the thought that if I log in every 7ish days(tame timer diffen't than structure timer) I would have a persistent game world to come back to. Give us some stability a lot of things in this game require possibly hundreds of hours to do which is fine if you believe it will still be there tomorrow. Last note seriously take out some grids in a square around middle and put new age ruins through out the middle of the entire grid all will be happier.

Can some answer why atlas devs have no concept of a compass west and East are not on same side of a map I get it it looks a lot like biomes in ark but are we reverting to ark physics are we going by a compass who ever made this map should really be fired old one was fine and shortened map are there going to be more islands or bigger squares map was small to begin with so we making it smaller now

I've always been PVE, even on Ark and it always irked me when new things were added and important mechanics changed that hurt PVE for the sake of PVP balance (flyer nerf). The same with Atlas. Please Wild Card/Grapeshot, give some love and attention to your loyal PVE fans. Thank you.

What a relief to see some progress being made and new ideas being worked on. This game has so much potential, even more than ark! ^^ I hope there will be a new PvPvE map system where (almost) pure PvE could be an option, but with PvP on the other hand being way more rewarding. (to make the PvE players try it out aswell) It would be awesome to have a thriving economy, with blueprints, rare items, cosmetics and so on. Fun achievements, rare ship parts and equipment to get as a reward for sinking ships, keeping control of certain outposts in the PvP areas and so on. And all that while still having a safezone to hang out in, aka your main base. Add more complete, usable structures and houses to replace the hundreds of floors, walls and ceilings to reduce lag and bring more immersion to the game as a whole. Reduce the powercreep of blueprints and weapons/armor, make 150% damage blueprints really rare or give them out as rewards for certain tasks. Make gold more valuable (so we dont pay 10s of thousands of gold for one tame or ship anymore, because everyone has so much). These are just some suggestions that I came up with. Im sure all of you have even better ideas and also a way to implement them. Dont be scared to try out new features, listen to the community, see what they are asking for, ignore all the hate and insults from these idiots and prove them wrong. I've been playing since day 1 and I had lots of fun ever since. (yes, we exist) :D We will stick along so hopefully you guys will too! ^^ We all want the game to succeed Hopes are high, Good luck :D

Welcome aboard @Chismebeard, @Nami, and @Gortok! Your PVE community is feeling a little left out/betrayed. Can you share your plans for its future?
  29. 1 point
one would think a sailing game that uses maps would have figured out where east and west is, but then again.....I guess not. Still waiting to hear the why we've been sold a game that has PVE for it to be now removed. Maybe that we got new community managers we can get some answers to why NA PVE is removed and what sounds like EU PVE could be gone next.

Greetin's Pathfinders! News from the Cabin In this Captain’s Log, your new Community Team will be emerging from below deck to introduce themselves and also to touch on exciting new developments for ATLAS. We look forward to sharing further details on our roadmap with players in the near future, but for now, whet ye appetites on these tasty morsels! First up! I'm Chismebeard (Ye can jus' call me Chisme, which is Gossip in Spanish, pronounced chees-meh) yer new Senior Community Manager o'er at Grapeshot Games! As we ramp up the crew for the new content we plan to bring you in the coming months, you can expect Nami and me to communicate your feedback and excitement back to main base. Here's a wee bit o’ background about me: I've been working in the gaming industry for over 5 years and have experience in building up nonprofits. When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me playing monster-catching games, farming games, and first-person shooters. I've been playing ATLAS with the development crew over the last few months and can say it's a game I'll be sinking many hours into. I'm excited to get to know this awesome community of scallywags! I can be reached directly on our Forums as Chismebeard & Discord as Chismebeard#4432. Ahoy Pathfinders~! Nami here sailing in on the waves and happy to be a part of the ATLAS crew! I'll be on deck with ChismeBeard as another Community Manager. First-mate, doctor, shipwright, archaeologist, musician, sniper, cook, navigator... whatever we need, I'm here to help! Okay, maybe not navigator... unlike my namesake, I'm directionally challenged. But you know, as I like to quote, "there is little difference between being lost and exploring" and we're excited to be exploring all the new things coming to ATLAS with all of you! When I'm not getting lost at sea or trying to outdo Chisme's “chees-eh” puns, you can find me watching anime (You can probably guess one of them, shishishi), working out (manning the sails is great for the arms!), and of course, playing games! I love platinuming RPGs, supporting feeders on MOBAs, being bad at matchmaking shooters, dungeon running in MMOs, and living out my own version of Groundhog's Day in survival games lol. Fun fact: I drew a life-size Jack Sparrow for my art final back in high school. I'm sure that qualifies me as a pirate. Please feel free to reach out to me at Nami#6151 on Discord, as long as you're not also reaching out for our treasure Yo ho! Primus here -- I recently joined the Grapeshot team as the lead designer for ATLAS. My focus is to steer the new vision for the game (more below), creating a busy roadmap of content as we steer it towards 1.0. Prior to working on ATLAS, I led the player experience, economy, and crafting efforts for the fantasy game Wildstar. At Riot Games, I was a game designer working on new player experience, matchmaking, and the ranking system. Much of my career has been spent developing gameplay that enhances how people competitively work together and against each other in a simulated world. During my free time, I play a myriad of game genres, including strategy, shooters, co-op survivals, and more! You can find me commenting in the Forums as Gortok - feel free to say Hi! As mentioned on Monday, we’ve redesigned the whole World Map and today, we wanted to give Pathfinders more insight on some of the upcoming changes. The new map was designed with the goal to drive more interactions between players -- both competitive and cooperative! The Golden Age islands are moving to the map center, surrounding it with a high-density ring of lawless territory, and adding sparse island outskirts where players can claim island territory to have a lower-risk experience. This will reduce the amount of sailing between core islands, incite more conflict, and give more opportunity for Companies to capture and control water lanes for the upcoming Trade Route system -- but we’re getting ahead of ourselves on that new system -- we’ll reveal details in the weeks ahead!! Happy Sailing, - ATLAS Crew For the latest dispatch on #playATLAS keep yer one good eye trained on this here information Natter n' chatter on Discord: https://discord.gg/playatlas Hear ye, hear ye on Twitter: https://twitter.com/sailtheatlas Watch us scallywags on Twitch: http://twitch.tv/sailtheatlas Plus ye can band with us Pirates on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/playatlasgame

We all need a very clear understanding of what this means for UNOFFICIAL SERVERS. People that have spent good money to create communities outside of the official highly toxic ones. I am among many players that abandon official (more than once, three times now). I don't have much will to play now that is clear that there will be an official W word coming. We need a clear statement on the intent of unofficial servers. Right now there is a giant hammer over everyones head.

Another one that comes to mind: - When you are crafting, the UI for crafting moves up to "make room" for the "currently crafting" row, which is extremely annoying when trying to craft multiple different things, as the UI jumps up and down as you craft and then find the next thing and so on. Should just ADD extra space for the currently crafting row.

Why would you join a MMO pirate game to PVE. that just makes no sense. Go singleplayer then.
