  1. Mutations do give 2 per stat they mutated in. The only way to know for sure what the mutations were in was to look at the parents stats. Sometimes you can get a useless mutation that doesn't help. For example, lets say the Mother had 13 Melee, and the Father had 15 Melee. There is a chance the baby inherits the Mothers 13 Melee, and then it gets a mutation in Melee, so the baby has 15 Melee. You might think it simply got the fathers melee stat and not realise.
  2. Poor neglected baby bear. Do you know where baby bears come from? Not the specifics of the birds and the bees, but did you not think to check what are the stats of the parents? There was a tool for ark that claimed to be able to find the stats, but you should actually just play the game instead of looking them up.
  3. Simpler format than my usual threads. Just QOL issues and fixes that I think would be best. PvP: PvP in general, sucks right now. Massive powerblocs prevent newer and lower level players from progressing. The need to be part of a group should be diminished in some way. Making war declarations against a company, not an island would fix this issue. This should also coincide with reducing war window timers to 4-6 hours instead of 9. This will allow small groups to plan around a more easily managed war window, and allow warring groups too attack anywhere they need. Likewise, Lawless should behave like owned land and have a 1-2 hour raid window every 3-4 hours. This allows casual players and solo players a realistic chance at piracy activities. This could be a stepping stone to.... faaaactioooons ((pls pls)) Secondly, current harbor building techniques are thermonuclear UNFUN. Locked channels that take hours to get in and out of? Might as well not sail, just gonna play Ark at that rate. Encourage raids that target loot, not full destruction. Nerf stone structures placed under water. PvE: PvE is in a pretty decent spot; but has the draw back of over population. Adding more islands would be swell! In addition more perks for island owners. Perhaps allowing territory claims on top of island claims to extend a players timer and give a controlled building area; preventing griefing in all forms. Treasure Maps: So many treasure map sites are broken. Suggestion: Manually delete all map spawns that do not occur on flat land or beaches. Almost all sites on top of rocks are incompletable: Remove them? Sunken Treasure: Too numerous and often not worth the effort. Reduce overall spawn-rate and increase quality. Ships of the Dammed: Rarely ever worth the effort. Especially for PvE players. Increase drop quality. Tames: Tames could be made less of a focus by buffing them instead of nerfing them. Using the same method used for cryopods in Ark; players could "Familiarize" a number of tames of each species. (Eg: 2 Female Bears, 2 Male Bears) as a summon spell. This can (And should) be coupled with the ability to resurrect familiarized tames. By allowing players to summon/dismiss animals and preserve favorites breeding and taming will not be a critical focus on many companies. This will also open the window to to allowing tames to be sold from a vendor. Tames should function more like MMO battle pets and not like farm equipment. While, yes you could ride, farm, and swipe to kill with your bear: sending him in to taunt while you shoot the badies with your carbine should be better. Battle tame of choice should complement the playstyle of the player both with buffs and mechanics. As an example, snipers would want a lion or bear. Swordsmen would want a parrot or vulture. Sea-Witches would benefit from a cat. Remove many of the dinosaur like features from Razortooths and Shieldhorns. For Razortooths, using a more Spino-like stance to resemble a Protodragon, give a right click breath attack. For shield-horns, make their skin leathery instead of scaled. Change leatherwing model to that of a bat, bird, or winged crocodile. Add a "Meat Chow" and "Veggie Slop" recipe to the cooking table that has a long shelf life and high nutrient density for feeding tames; similar to kibble but only for feeding. Baby Animals should not need hand fed. Instead, they should be required to stick near the mother who will eat the extra food in place of the baby. As a counter to the now AFK mechanic, the amount of food consumed should be vastly increased. This will significantly reduce the focus on the tames them selves and allow breeders do other things in game. Powerstones: Too many earth golems, make caves slightly less populated. Get rid of the meatballs of baddies in buildings that jump out all at once. Increase gold payout from AoD. Get rid of using ships too kill bosses. Keys should not be dropped on death, should instead go on your "keyring" or you receive a buff that persists through death to open the case. Around the home: Allow Ice-chests to act as preserving cabinets vastly increasing spoil times even when not filled. Allow ice chests to be irrigated thereby producing ice at night in the desert and temperate biomes. Allow Irrigation to grills, etc to be radiant, instead of requiring a direct connection. This is by far the easiest solution to placement problems. Implement a compost bin and allow a crewmember to be assigned to it, automatically picking up poop in an area similar to a trough. Crew: Crew should be much more dynamic, such as was demonstrated in the trailer. Adding piratey deployables like taverns and bars is a great first step Crew should be allowed far more jobs and function on land to allow players to focus on sailing and exploring. Ships: Sails: FIX SAILS lol. Weight sails: Make weight sails reduce the effect that cargo containers have on a ship's speed. Cargo Containers: Increase capacity beyond 16 units. Handling Sails: Change name to correctly display their function: Acceleration Sails. Speed Sails: Make them work by raising the top speed cap of a ship, so that they can be combined with acceleration sails.
  4. an animals level is determined by their stats ... you could have 2 level 41 animals mate but that wouldn't guarantee a level 41 baby would come out, it would depend which stats the baby inherited from each parent. the way people get very high level babies is by combining very good stats from mother and father. this can take a lot of time depending how lucky you are. www.exploreatlas.co.uk has a very good animal calculator that you can use to see how many points your animals have in each stat category
  5. Was playing around with the breeding the past few days and I was wondering how to increase to level of the baby when it pops out. Bred some bears and was laughing so much when the baby just came popping out, was really funny. Anyway, ended up with a level 35 but something I didnt understand was how to increase that level? I understand if I would have had 2 level 41s I would have gotten high but how do the folks get the level 70's and so on to be bornl? It seems like the best level you could get would be 41 or 42 off of the base tames and really only ever 41 or 42?
  6. Tested 11 Penguins all average 40+ hypo buff around a single baby bear. The bear does NOT get any kind of insulation from the penguins. The test was done by turning off all fires at 3C, 4C, 5C all of which the bear reports it is too cold. I understand the breeding mechanic is to make breeding hard and unable to scale like it does in ark. But not having the penguin insulate babies too seems just plain stupid. We had to baby sit 3 bears for over 50 hours straight (during roll back) and burn god knows how much wood. Penguins already give almost no hypo and even if they were working as they should, 11 still wouldn't be enough to raise a single bear. Fix this please.
  7. Problem: New tames are consistently disappearing, usually following shutdown/loading the game, or crossing zone transitions. Repro: (80%) 1. Tame a new creature, or breed an existing creature and raise it to adulthood. 2. Pass through an area transition, or save/reload the game. Result: New tame(s) will be missing. Expected result: Arrive in new zone or reload the game successfully and the tame still exists. Notes: - This problem did not begin until last night/this morning, but the playthrough itself is roughly a week old. Tames obtained before this window have been so far unaffected. - Creatures lost so far in this way include: Bear (Raised from baby) - Vanished during area transition at sea. Bear (Raised from baby) - Vanished during area transition at sea. Passed through several area transitions as a juvenile without incident, but vanished after maturing. Crow (Tamed from wild) - Appears to have vanished at sea during save/reload or zone transition. Exact timing unclear Crow (Tamed from wild) - Was missing after reloading the game from save state while still on land. - The game has no mods installed and is mostly running vanilla server settings. (x2 gathering multiplier)
  8. So the option to rename a ship has been available since launch but still doesn't work. I'd like to be able to rename a ship, especially now that we can unclaim and reclaim them. I'd also like to rename because my buddy finished building our shipping Galleon and named it "Baby got Bass" (a pun from the "Baby got Back" song but with fish..) without first consulting me. I might accidentally drive this onto in the horrid terrain mapping of the Golden Age ruins in O7. LOL

I have a lvl 30 male horse with perfect melee damage and stamina (167% dmg, 1210 stamina) a female lvl 28 horsa (600+) HP and 900 weight I beleive, some douchbag in my company leveld them up so i dont know its original stats anymore,..,. and i have other lvl 26 horses with inferior stats. so I just focus on the 30lvl and 28lvl horse for breeding, right? let them make baby over and over till they have all best stats combined in 1 ?
  10. thats just exploiting the brokenness of the game. U should report urself for being a baby. If the game allows pillar spam, shipyard spam, farm stacking and other exploits, then it isn't the player's fault but the game's. The player are merely making use of it.
  11. I'm on the official PVE D10 and trying to breed sheep. Correct biome and temp. The sheep gets pregnant but at the time of birth no baby appears. Bears work, just not sheep. Bug or user error?
  12. At some point, you have to realize that pushing on a door that only opens towards you, just isn't going to work. I have played several survival games, and every one has the ability to totally wipe people...set them back to zero. What took months to acquire, in some cases, can be wiped out in minutes. I have been playing those games again, and I'm presently playing Conan. What I have seen in the past, and I'm seeing again, is that people often quit the game after getting wiped. For some of those games, I am not sure what can be done to fix that, but I think Atlas is unique, in that a fix that drastically reduces the pain of getting wiped, can also enhance the game play. I noted before that if there is a central bank on the Freeports, and a Stable for tames, it would provide for more pirating at sea, while also lessening the impact of wipes. The stables would allow you store 2 of each type of animal. This would work just like uploading a dino in Atlas, except that there is no timer. You talk to the stable owner, and pay a fee to store the animals. Nothing outrageous...like a few credits per week, per animal. You can also breed on this island. A new structure should be made. Just big enough for the tames to breed in, and a baby to be raised in. It disappears after the baby matures. Babies left unattended for 48 hours after this happens, after they matured, become claimable. The Central bank would allow you to store gold, blue prints, and maps. Maps would not decay while stored there, but could become invalid if somebody builds on that spot. A limit could be set on how many maps and BPs a company can store at the bank. Not a small number, but also not an unlimited number. Gold stored should earn interest, but a safety deposit box for the maps and BPs should cost a small amount of gold. So storing gold could auto-pay the cost for the safety deposit box. So, what this does is create pirating opportunities, as people try to store their valuables, but also when they pick them up, to use them. What most companies would likely do, is try to keep enough gold at their base to pay the NPCs, for about a week, but then they would need to make occasional gold runs from the bank, back to base. After breeding your animals, you would need to get them home. To use maps, you would need to go pick them up. To use BPs, you would need to pick them up and take them back to base. Having gold stored, would also allow a company that got wiped, to quickly recover, as they can use gold to buy resources. They could have a few BP ships ready to go, and enough structures, and enough NPCs to get a base set up someplace, very quickly, if they were diligent about creating their safety net in the bank. Somebody who spent 3 to 6 months creating an awesome breeding line, isn't going to feel like they are now, once again, standing at the foot of Mt Everest, after having made it to the summit, or gotten nearly to the top. I think this would help stop the bleeding, the people leaving the game, after being wiped. It would also add more fun and pirating opportunities. I think it would take some of the focus off of wiping, and put it onto pirating.
  13. You could just breed them, similar level tames from the same company are likely of the same stock so a baby would give you the stats. If not you could use a known stat tame to compare a bred baby with. Both slow, but the best I can think of.
  14. Why are these ridiculous trash mode servers still up? Remove them already! Do not cater to players that are too baby to play a pirate game. Ur splitting the community by allowing servers for little cry babies. Im not comming back to Atlas as long as the stupid "PVE" server is still on.
  15. 1. Remove 90% of tames, you can gather yourself with tools. 2. Add in more crafting hardcore mode to make special items for your ship. 3. Remove 90% of the stupid things like Torpedos 4. Add more NPC, AI driven random boats around the waters. 1-2 per zone is all that is needed. 5. fIX THE GAME TO GET RETURNING PLAYERS. 6. Its a hopeless issue at this point because they moved away from the pirate theme and made it more ARK clone, with water. Remember i was the first one in ARK to build a castle and a ship on the water. Back in alpha release. I wanted ship pirate games to come out. But this one had potential and now its a mess... and the steam reviews are just a small faction of what we warned devs about. But whatever, its their baby and it will die their baby, sadly it will happen.
  16. well done grapeshot, you officially broke the game, cannons don't work on army of the damned anymore, think about it, A massive cannon ball, a ball of steel fired right at the undead doesnt work... but little baby pallets fired out of a blunderbuss does?? the bear cannon is now worthless in pve. why not fix the treasure maps instead of nerfing the entire game, and effectively breaking it for a lot of players i assume... make the treasure maps give less xp or make the army of the damned harder, sommething like that. but no you decided to make the cannons worthless against the army of the damned, this is the most stupidist thing in the entire history of game "fixes"

  18. Having to check a baby every 8 hours its unhealthy and unreasonable. Babies die in Stasis AGAIN Animals walk away while mating There's no point in breeding with official settings by yourself... you just can't reasonably and healthfully do it. Nothing in a video game that can be lost in seconds should take DAYS to grow and require more attention than an actual baby animal. NOTHING ABOUT BREEDING ON OFFICIAL SERVERS IS A POSITIVE GAME EXPERIENCE.
  19. This topic has been widely discussed with a variety of different ideas/opinions. Most of them I never agreed with because people would try to get excited about it or hype it up as being “wonderful” or some other ridiculous word. Either way the game is failing and has been. merging pve and pvp together could be good for the simple fact that gold could be worth something. Even mega companies has to waste personnel to grind out materials. Why not have the grinders(pve) players do that in the safety of their pve servers so that all pvp players can focus on pvp? Wow, what a concept. Pvp players can raid other pvp players to get “gold” so they can buy the good materials that the grinders(pve) make. Manufacturers(pve) and consumers(pvp). I know a lot of cry baby pvp people will whine and say they want to attack the pve people but suck it up, you don’t get to now and you won’t get to later lol. with this pve players wouldn’t have to worry about farming gold and pvp people wouldn’t have to waste time farming resources. They could just come up and with “gold” buy the 200% gally. You lose a ship in war? Go buy another one from the pve people. Pvp people don’t want to waste time taming or breeding? Also no problem, the pve people already did that and are willing to sell them. It’s beyond me how pvp people can be so arrogant lol. FACTIONS: this will definitely not solve the gold problem but will make for better pvp(sorry solo players) because it will eliminate the mega and solo players. You log in and make a character? You pick a faction regardless(doesn’t matter how many factions and that is not this discussion). You will pick a faction and that will always be your faction. The pvp battles would become very large scale and be a lot more entertaining than a fleet of gallys coming for a stone hut. Whatever faction comes out on top is the winner. I would apologize for being blunt but I am not sorry in any way, shape, of form. I have seen so many terrible ideas on this forum because people are trying to be “creative” or “fantasize”. This is the real world and we live in it. There is no creativity in this game. It’s a matter of players and success. Without either of these two this game will just stay a steaming pile and will continue to bleed players. That’s all there is to it. Try not to be creative in replies with creative ideas. Definitely not welcome. Rational replies with common sense would be helpful, because remember, pve people don’t want to play with pvp people so they will either leave or you give them incentive to do so.

  21. Definately not a paint issue. I had one of these a while back and it disappeared; had no idea where to, it wasnt in my stock and I haddnt seen it die in the company log. I went travelling across the map this week and found two more, brought them back home to C9 and have been breeding them. Brought the yellow lower wing through to some twins (Currently juvi), and the green upper wing and yellow lower wing to another baby just now. Logged in after the patch just now, Juvi and baby are still coloured, but the two females Id brought back have now changed colour. They've survived several days plus the weekend mythos turnon patch with thier colours and only just now converted suddenly Pretty sure the other must have had this happen and I just didnt realise which one of the flock it was at the time. Definately know this time as i'd had them up on display rather than all bunched together Very very sad, I travelled a long way to find these and was so rapt when I managed to get them again to have them just suddenly change colour.
  22. I would like to suggest the imprinting process be modified slightly to allow for the average player to fully imprint animals. My suggestion is in the next paragraph, and my reasoning behind why I think the imprinting process needs to be changed is below that... So people who don't wish too, doesn't need to read the whole wall of text to find my suggestion. My suggestion is to allow imprints after the breed animal is fully mature, and on wild tames too. Think about it. Imprinting on an animal does not stop when they are grown in real life, and even animals found in the wild (and taking in by an individual) can and still is imprinted. Why not in the game. The imprint timer currently is 8 hours when you breed an animal, and I don't suggest changing that in any way. My suggestion is to add/increase an imprint timer by 100 times for only the fully mature and wild animals/tames. This would mean you would get an imprint on these breed/fully mature and/or wild animals every 800 hour or 33.33 days. This doesn't change the need to breed animals as it would take for the wild bear 5 plus months to be fully imprinted, but it gives you a reason to keep the wild bear after they are breed. It also doesn't punish the breeding player where something came up in real life and they missed an imprint on an animal they breed because they can now finish off the imprint process after the animal is mature. Finally it it is still time-locked so the imprinting process can't be abused. As it stands right now (I was testing with the bear directly) you imprint the animal every 8 hours, and you have to imprint the animal 5 times for a 100% imprint. The bear itself takes approximatively 42 hours to reach full maturity. Five imprints every 8 hour takes 40 hours to complete giving the player 2 hours basically to play with, and still get a 100% imprint. If you are an average American adult that has an average 9-5 job a 100% imprint is basically impossible. Even trying to pull something off over the weekend is extremely difficult because you would miss sleep either Friday night or Sunday night to pull it off. Given all the changes over the last few months with breeding to make it more available for the average player I thought it was time to take a look at the imprinting aspect. I had previously tamed many animals, but others in my company had done the breeding because frankly I didn't have the in-game time needed to breed. Lets briefly covers those changes to breeding... One of the first changes was making it so the baby/juvenile/adolescent animal wasn't effected by hot and cold snaps. This made watching the animal for temperature changes and adjusting much easier. One of the next major changes removed the need to monitor changes in temperature to the juvenile and adolescent aspect of the animals growth, and only during the baby aspect or 0-10% maturity. This made breeding finally available to the average player as you don't have to babysit your animal for upwards of 48 hours straight without sleep... There were other changes, but those two seemed to be what opened breeding up to the majority of the player base. Which brings me full circle and back to my suggestion. Since your average player base are adults, and the average American adult at least works a 9-5 job... Breeding and more to the point imprinting is still extremely challenging for those people. They get punished because calling in sick to work so they can stay home and imprint their animal in Atlas really isn't an option. Therefore they only get a 60% or if lucky an 80% imprint at best, and there is little they can do about it as the game stands now. If the game allowed to imprint beyond the maturity phase of breeding that would make it much easier on these people as they no longer have to consider drastic moves like calling in sick for work when they aren't really sick, just to experience an aspect of a video game. More importantly the suggested process is still time-locked so the hardcore players that have all the time in the world to play this game can't abuse this potential mechanic towards their own ends. Finally my suggestion adds more believable aspects to the taming and breeding process because you honestly don't stop imprinting when the animal is grown, and you can imprint on a wild animal in real life.
  23. NOTE: Folders must be created immediately after taming a wild, or claiming a baby. Imprinting a baby...hugging or taking for a walk...adds to the value of the stats, hiding who the parent is for each stat. Same for adding levels to an animal. The folders must be created when you see the raw stats. Or you will need to have those values written down, or in a screenshot. Folders in the inventory, are the best option. For the Squid above, one folder would say, Stamina 510. Another would say Health 6400. Etc...
  24. I am raising a baby tort now, I did hatch another egg successfully without ice box in B9. And I find that the baby Tort love hot weather ,it can keep healthy under 61 degree heat wave ! However, the health bar will reduce under 28 degree. Finally , it will take 3 days to grow up( 10% per 8 hours ). As a result, i suggest that hatch the egg and raise it during 2X event . best wishes William from CCTV
  25. One thing I would recommend which would help in my instance because I primarily breed lions is let them eat cooked meat. Their gestation4 hour 45 min,baby time8 hours, time from pregnancy to adult 3 days. All pretty much the same as rexes in ark. Only difference if you can only use raw meat or raw prime meat. At least with rexes you could use cooked meat after baby phase which gave you quite a bit More spoil timers in your feeding trough. I lose a ton more meat to spoilage than anything else which is fine but would prefer it be on par with Rex breeding if the timers are so similar.
