  1. why do you say it's a logarithmic time investment and not an exponential one? also they can't implement any of these.. you need to be able to kill tames. they already have that weird baby invulnerability mechanic thing
  2. have these been changed or removed? i bred a baby bear last night, in a temperate climate, and the temp ranged from about 2 to 29C (not including the heatwave or cold front that hit) and the baby never once got hot or cold! i'm not complaining its a great thing, but i'm just wondering did i get lucky somehow? i also noticed that ice boxes don't seem to generate temperature change, or at least not noticeable via the temperature display in the character screen or when holding H, is this broken? or removed due to some change? just trying to get a handle on this stuff, thanks for any info you guys can provide.

  4. Hey guys! Ok so ive done my research, and ive added in the ramp overrides past lv 225 for my difficulty 4 server. But yet we just tamed a 116 bear and it came out to 173 and it cannot gain any experience. We then bred a baby from it and it came out at 156 and it also cannot level. Any thoughts?
  5. It's sad to say, but yes. I'm also, frankly, tired of defending the game... and playing the game. In all reality, ARK is just better and I'd really rather they just focus on making that.... better. And yeah, I will be playing New World. I suspect many of us will. Honestly, it's looking like Amazon (as weird as that feels to say) will be delivering a very good product. This year is looking at some possibly really fantastic titles in general. And I want to play them. Atlas seems to me to be designed in a way that prevents gamers from... gaming. You basically sell your soul to this one game if you want to get enjoyment out of it. And that'd just not something I want. I don't want to HAVE to log into a game every day. I didn't HAVE to do that shit in WoW, ESO, Everquest, Guild Wars, Asheron's Call, Horizons, Ryzom (being ones I remember off the top of my head)... the only other MMO I can think of that had that be a thing was Ultima Online... and... just sayin'... That's been a while... and even then wasn't exactly a requirement. And please don't get me started on waking up in the middle of the night to imprint or feed a fucking baby animal. That's really just an absurd thing to ask of anyone. It's rarely a thing even real-life breeders need to do (as someone who has, I've literally never had to do this). ARK does suffer some of the same problems, but they took those and made them worse here. But the benefit of ARK is that it is actually entirely playable as a singleplayer game. On your own time at your own pace. You can enjoy ARK and you can enjoy any other title at the same time. With the total lack of dev communication within the past 6-8 months, I don't see much reason to even bother. These guys had a vision, I think, but totally lack the experience to see it through. It's... almost like they have literally never played any MMOs in the past and have no idea what works and what doesn't. At this point, I'm here maybe once a month to check in and see if anything is happening. Some kind of lasting hope, I suppose. It's not. My time is better spent elsewhere. And playing other things.
  6. What about the talk* I hear of them combining Ark and Atlas and calling it Arkelass? From what I have read, I gather that the dinosaurs age and grow old unless you put sails on them and sail your Dinoboat to the Golden Age Of Tek. When you get there, cram them into a tiny hole where they become baby dinosaurs that die if it gets too hot. Don’t forget to get your discovery-note explorers-points along the way! *fake
  7. let us take breeding a bear for example. you get 2 bears to mate then wait 4 hours. then when the baby is born you have 4 hours to get to 10% where that bear can feed from the trough. that is an 8 hour playtime. I know you don't need to babysit that bear for the whole time but it's not very realistic.
  8. the bonus over Valentines day was great! our company was actually able to start breeding as you could raise a baby in one play period. When do you guys think we will get another one? breeding animals to make good bloodlines is a really cool thing in this game but it is just not doable if you have a life a and a 9-5 . do these bonuses ever just happen on random weekends?
  9. Breeding can be set up to be not too time consuming. I live in a tundra region and 6 grills in a semi-circle will keep bears warm at all times, and with 1 stack of wood lasting 4+ hours. (that's your heating sorted) I have a small farm for vegetables, having 1-2 troughs nearby they have never ran out. (that's the food sorted) As for time, I get home from work from 5-6, pop on and breed bears, set timer for 4 hours, at 9-10 baby's pop.(this bit requires you to be present for a bit), but 1 stack of veg in a bear will feed a bear for about 45 mins, use this metric to guess when you can leave the bears backtracking each stack (45 mins) from the 4 hours it takes to reach infant and can feed from a trough, for me and my bears that's about 1 1/2 hours in and they can hold 4+ stacks. Even that 1 1/2 hours can be spent mostly away from the bears, I usually get 1/2 a stack of veg in them then potter about for 20 mins, top them up again and come back at the 1 1/2 hour mark, top them off again and I can log off knowing they will mature without any more input from me. once they are bread to my liking imprinting will be a lot more of a chore and will need a weekend to accomplish.
  10. What is the max level after breeding ? Baby is "X" lv how many level's can it acquire ? Currently at base 83 + 52 = 135 level and gaining..
  11. Went out with my bear yesterday. Granted, it's a shitty lvl 55 cargo bear but hey, the map was only a 3.3... easy right? aotd bear damage = 17 Ok, screw that. I got two pistols. I'll end this shit right now... boom... boom. aotd pistol damage (head shot) = 6 Well, that's good news. Now I can spec out of taming since I won't need a bear to sail around and do pointless maps with. And I can spec out of pistols because I only need a bow to kill the wolves around me. And, I won't have to waste skill points on crazy stuff like swords, or armor. Cool! Ok, so... to hell with maps, I'll go kill sotd. Whipped out he brig, spent an hour and a half sailing around. Killed 2 low level brigs and a low level galleon. Spent like 100 cannon balls and another hour repairing the brig (roof armor which npc's, who I'm PAYING, refuse to fix) My rewards? 39g, 19 large cannon balls (useless since large cannons are gunport only), 16 liquid flame (useless in pve), a common ballista and 9 ballista bolts. Oh, and a common ballista blueprint (Yipee!) Was that a hint for me to do whales? Naa. Can't be. In that hour and a half sailing around I didn't see a single one. Surely not. Ok, so remind me again, what was this grand plan about me spending more time at sea and less on land? I forget. Oh wait, I remember. That massive adrenaline rush I get from doing both of the 3.0 sunken treasure (the only 2 the sextant buffed showed in all that sailing around) which paid more than either the map or the sotd (barely)! And that's with me only getting to do one because after I dived on the second one I found the entrance to the chest buried under dirt. But hey, I still got 56g off the first one. Yea baby! Filthy rich. 105 more days like this and I can afford to change the name on my ship! Whew! I still have a reason to play the game. I'm so glad I came back to Atlas. (For those unfamiliar with me or my methods, this is NOT optimism. It's fucking sarcasm.)
  12. Mutations do give 2 per stat they mutated in. The only way to know for sure what the mutations were in was to look at the parents stats. Sometimes you can get a useless mutation that doesn't help. For example, lets say the Mother had 13 Melee, and the Father had 15 Melee. There is a chance the baby inherits the Mothers 13 Melee, and then it gets a mutation in Melee, so the baby has 15 Melee. You might think it simply got the fathers melee stat and not realise.
  13. Poor neglected baby bear. Do you know where baby bears come from? Not the specifics of the birds and the bees, but did you not think to check what are the stats of the parents? There was a tool for ark that claimed to be able to find the stats, but you should actually just play the game instead of looking them up.
  14. can someone help me figure out the base stats of this bear. Boneheaded me forgot to write down the base stats of the parents before imprinting and now I have a baby level 58 with 3 mutations and not sure what they are in. Health 616 Food 6000 Oxygen 486 Weight 1064 Torpor 4420 Stamina 950 Melee 180.7 If someone could let me know what the mutations are, base stats and how you figured it out it would extremely helpful for me. Thanks for your time.
  15. You don't need to sit with them for the entire time. Once you get the correct number of grills lit, the temp is good day and night, and one stack of wood lasts the 4 hours it takes to reach the juvenile stage. One stack of potatoes (other veggies available) will feed a baby bear for 35-40 minuits, so once it can hold a stack you can do other stuff and come back. and at about 2 hours in a bear can hold 4 stacks, more than enough to feed it untill juvenile and feeding from a trough. One trough full of potatoes (I like potatoes) is enough to feed 2-3 bears to full maturity. So if i'm not imprinting it takes 2 hours, with only the first 10-15 minutes of constant attention, meaning I can breed even on a weekday evening. Pop on at 6pm and mate the bears, set timer, pop back at 10pm and raise them, by midnight they and the troughs are topped up and ready to be left alone. Imprinting is a different matter, and only possible if I have a free weekend.
  16. "Ark has better breeding mechanics for people who cant be online 24/7 or absolutely need their imprints" Is it easier or what? It's far more tedious, and less accessible. Why would you say it is easier than Ark, but then say its better for people who can't be online 24/7? Are you online 24/7 playing pve atlas, breeding your baby bears in your rp castle? Takes a few hours to breed some good animals, have fun with your early/late game scrub harvest rates and getting one shot by op swivel horses, because you won't be able to keep up with those who have the necessary tames/stats. If you think that breeding is boring, and no need for it, that sounds like you're saying that they are repeating the same mistakes with breeding as Ark. Could you explain this further? Quite the contrary. Breeding is far easier in Atlas.
  17. As in Ark, breeding is not really difficult, but it is extremely time-consuming. This leads me directly to the question of whether there is a table somewhere from which you can see the baby's feed consumption? Especially with carnivores I have bad experiences with leaving the babies alone before 10%. But I just don't have the time to take 5 hours a day. Unfortunately, you really didn't learn anything from Ark at Atlas. A look at the many unofficial servers would have been enough. Almost no server uses the standard settings for breeding. When I think about the fact that you talked about half a year ago that you want to get the players from the land to the sea ... That won't work in any case. I think the developers first need to be clear about what the player should actually do in this game. We are currently wasting about fifty percent of the time waiting for something.
  18. PVE players always come here and talk about the toxic community being cry babies. Meanwhile they sit in their RP castles raising baby bears and playing the drums. 2x weekend boosts are really running thin. This is NOT substitute for additional content, fixing BASIC gameplay mechanics, resolving performance issues, and COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMMUNITY. I mean jesus . . . even this update was half assed: we have some new things we are working on. . . kind of the same has some prior updates . . . we'll get to it next week and maybe get you a changelog once we decide what xmas changes we are going to revert and call it "retooled".
  19. I would be behind a longer but more considerate imprinting. Something like 3-5 24h imprint periods starting after baby stage would be meaningful yet doable, for me at least.
  20. Simpler format than my usual threads. Just QOL issues and fixes that I think would be best. PvP: PvP in general, sucks right now. Massive powerblocs prevent newer and lower level players from progressing. The need to be part of a group should be diminished in some way. Making war declarations against a company, not an island would fix this issue. This should also coincide with reducing war window timers to 4-6 hours instead of 9. This will allow small groups to plan around a more easily managed war window, and allow warring groups too attack anywhere they need. Likewise, Lawless should behave like owned land and have a 1-2 hour raid window every 3-4 hours. This allows casual players and solo players a realistic chance at piracy activities. This could be a stepping stone to.... faaaactioooons ((pls pls)) Secondly, current harbor building techniques are thermonuclear UNFUN. Locked channels that take hours to get in and out of? Might as well not sail, just gonna play Ark at that rate. Encourage raids that target loot, not full destruction. Nerf stone structures placed under water. PvE: PvE is in a pretty decent spot; but has the draw back of over population. Adding more islands would be swell! In addition more perks for island owners. Perhaps allowing territory claims on top of island claims to extend a players timer and give a controlled building area; preventing griefing in all forms. Treasure Maps: So many treasure map sites are broken. Suggestion: Manually delete all map spawns that do not occur on flat land or beaches. Almost all sites on top of rocks are incompletable: Remove them? Sunken Treasure: Too numerous and often not worth the effort. Reduce overall spawn-rate and increase quality. Ships of the Dammed: Rarely ever worth the effort. Especially for PvE players. Increase drop quality. Tames: Tames could be made less of a focus by buffing them instead of nerfing them. Using the same method used for cryopods in Ark; players could "Familiarize" a number of tames of each species. (Eg: 2 Female Bears, 2 Male Bears) as a summon spell. This can (And should) be coupled with the ability to resurrect familiarized tames. By allowing players to summon/dismiss animals and preserve favorites breeding and taming will not be a critical focus on many companies. This will also open the window to to allowing tames to be sold from a vendor. Tames should function more like MMO battle pets and not like farm equipment. While, yes you could ride, farm, and swipe to kill with your bear: sending him in to taunt while you shoot the badies with your carbine should be better. Battle tame of choice should complement the playstyle of the player both with buffs and mechanics. As an example, snipers would want a lion or bear. Swordsmen would want a parrot or vulture. Sea-Witches would benefit from a cat. Remove many of the dinosaur like features from Razortooths and Shieldhorns. For Razortooths, using a more Spino-like stance to resemble a Protodragon, give a right click breath attack. For shield-horns, make their skin leathery instead of scaled. Change leatherwing model to that of a bat, bird, or winged crocodile. Add a "Meat Chow" and "Veggie Slop" recipe to the cooking table that has a long shelf life and high nutrient density for feeding tames; similar to kibble but only for feeding. Baby Animals should not need hand fed. Instead, they should be required to stick near the mother who will eat the extra food in place of the baby. As a counter to the now AFK mechanic, the amount of food consumed should be vastly increased. This will significantly reduce the focus on the tames them selves and allow breeders do other things in game. Powerstones: Too many earth golems, make caves slightly less populated. Get rid of the meatballs of baddies in buildings that jump out all at once. Increase gold payout from AoD. Get rid of using ships too kill bosses. Keys should not be dropped on death, should instead go on your "keyring" or you receive a buff that persists through death to open the case. Around the home: Allow Ice-chests to act as preserving cabinets vastly increasing spoil times even when not filled. Allow ice chests to be irrigated thereby producing ice at night in the desert and temperate biomes. Allow Irrigation to grills, etc to be radiant, instead of requiring a direct connection. This is by far the easiest solution to placement problems. Implement a compost bin and allow a crewmember to be assigned to it, automatically picking up poop in an area similar to a trough. Crew: Crew should be much more dynamic, such as was demonstrated in the trailer. Adding piratey deployables like taverns and bars is a great first step Crew should be allowed far more jobs and function on land to allow players to focus on sailing and exploring. Ships: Sails: FIX SAILS lol. Weight sails: Make weight sails reduce the effect that cargo containers have on a ship's speed. Cargo Containers: Increase capacity beyond 16 units. Handling Sails: Change name to correctly display their function: Acceleration Sails. Speed Sails: Make them work by raising the top speed cap of a ship, so that they can be combined with acceleration sails.

  22. Seriously! If you walk away from a newborn baby rabbit for 30 seconds, it dies. Kitten? A little longer. And then you have to feed the animals a stack of 7 every 2 minutes? For how long? It looks like HOURS, then my game crashes halfway through and it dies on me because five fires right next to it still isn’t enough to keep it warm. Why isn’t there some mechanic to have the mother care for it while you feed food as treats to help imprint or something? It would make the process/game a little more enjoyable for those like me who want to focus on animals more than exploring.
  23. an animals level is determined by their stats ... you could have 2 level 41 animals mate but that wouldn't guarantee a level 41 baby would come out, it would depend which stats the baby inherited from each parent. the way people get very high level babies is by combining very good stats from mother and father. this can take a lot of time depending how lucky you are. www.exploreatlas.co.uk has a very good animal calculator that you can use to see how many points your animals have in each stat category
  24. Was playing around with the breeding the past few days and I was wondering how to increase to level of the baby when it pops out. Bred some bears and was laughing so much when the baby just came popping out, was really funny. Anyway, ended up with a level 35 but something I didnt understand was how to increase that level? I understand if I would have had 2 level 41s I would have gotten high but how do the folks get the level 70's and so on to be bornl? It seems like the best level you could get would be 41 or 42 off of the base tames and really only ever 41 or 42?
  25. Hello hello. I have a little advice about times for breeding. Right now, you need to give care to your pets each 8 hours. Most of the better animals make it that you need more then 2 days to get them from baby to ready, what leaves people having start them when they come back from school or work on Friday. and already waking up mid in the night after a hour or 3-4 (after they can stay without feeding and temperature care) to give the first time care. then they can make it so, that they can finish a lot of animals, before it is Monday morning. then the animals need care each 8 hours. that is the time a regular night sleep should take, and a regular work/school day is. For the health of your players, it is better you put the timer on 12 hours. that still makes it so, that people need to get up in the morning to take care. but it gives people the possibility to get a great sleep, and even have the possibility to have a little off screen time before they go sleep, so it improves even more the quality of the night. some other positive thing is, that we can go to school and work, and don't have to call sick to take care of some pixel animals.
