Exactly, the constitution is a whole. We aren’t talking about a specific section of the constitution. We are talking about THE constitution. There has never been anything like it. It is completely original. also exactly. The decline of society is trying to take away from something that already works.

Art is not original. All art is fundamentally based on reality. If you're a realistic artist, you strive for photorealism, a copy of the real. If you're an impressionist, you're pretty much trying to be Monet. If you're an abstract artist... well, you're maybe drawing squares on white canvas. It's all been done. Square on canvas guy (I won't even bother looking up his name, but feel free) is doing what we all did when we were 5... And making profitsss. It's not a decline of society at all (believe me, I could talk all day about what is). It's simply human. We watch. We learn. We copy. Hopefully, when we copy, we improve. It's not copy & paste, which I think is what you're thinking. It's more like putting a vase on a table and copying what you see. What you see will differ from what anyone else does. It's not original in the grand scheme, but it's original to you (and maybe a few other people). And maybe you add in Pikachu throwin' gang signs in the background. Our Constitution is far from original, idealistically. The doctrine as a whole is, yes; there is (as far as I'm aware) nothing exactly like it. The ideas, however, are a mish-mash of philosophies as old as Ancient Greece (and probably older) up to right around John Locke. If you break the Constitution down, there's not an original thought in there. There's nothing wrong with riding our forefathers' coat tails, as long as we improve upon their vision. The problem, the decline of society, if you will, is that we're generally not improving. We're devolving.

Exactly. I didn’t say every single specific section of the constitution was original. The constitution however is ultimately original as a whole. My whole point to begin with
-
Nope, not all. He was merely trying to pull apart the constitution into various areas making them seem like they weren’t original. Anyone can do that. i am talking about the constitution as a whole. And as a whole it is completely original from anything. and in your definition of original, nothing from the past 5000 years has been original. Go figure lol
-
There are doctrines older than our constitution. Although it isn't really a doctrine so much as a document. A doctrine is an idea, and few of the ideas in the Constitution are completely original. A Republic isn't, ancient greeks had that. They also had voting. Property rights weren't new. Separation of the government into separate branches with checks and balances might have been an innovative concept but merely a government with multiple branches wasn't. England had both the crown and Parliament long before the US. As far as people saying "I don't want to deal with this crap anymore." that's more the Declaration of Independence, and I would suggest that both the Magna Carta and Martin Luther's 95 theses represented much the same "we're not gonna take it anymore" sentiment.

Oh I didn’t even mean capitalism. Our constitution itself is the oldest living doctrine. Even though America might not be perfect. The constitution is the exact definition of perfection. all it took was a small group to say “I don’t want to deal with this crap anymore” and here we are lol.

He's right if he's British and it's prior to 1776. Given that the Constitution wasn't written until a full 13 years later after the Articles of Confederation failed, saying that the 1st Ammendment was treasonous would be true IF the US wasn't already an established sovereign nation, which it most certainly was at the time of the Constitution's writing.

"shootergame" is the default name of a new project you open in Unreal Engine. You can save your project with a different name. You can rename your project. It's like drafting the constitution on a computer and naming the constitution FileName.txt.

you're kind of close but not really. depending on size of the cannon there would be more crew. 12 lb cannon crew 18-lb gun crew Constitution 24-lb gun crew

No, we really haven't. Even solely sticking to games as a subject, I've been gaming for about 25 years. Not a whole lot of originality happening anywhere. I think the most "original" game I've played in recent times has been The Long Dark. I'd dare say that game defines what the survival genre should be (like... actually about survival ). Every other "survival" game I've played is basically, "Okay we have [X Concept} and let's throw in eating, sleeping, and maybe thirst." They're all basically Skyrim running iNeed and Frostfall. Which is fine, nothing really wrong with that at the core. Except when the core is lackluster. As plenty of artists (should, if they don't) say, art is about stealing what has already been done and making it your own. Our Constitution is about as original as a Picasso.
-
No I mean that it is like many things, a set of ideas that are mostly not original but borrowed from other places. Off the top of my head the only core concept in the constitution that's original that I can think of is the system of checks and balances between the branches to keep any one branch from becoming too powerful. I don't think that had been done before but I couldn't swear to it. Pretty much everything else was not a new idea. What was original was pulling all those different ideas together in one place.
-
Yep. Pretty much. Even though the new generation of Americans have become very sad we are a nation of people that won’t take this crap anymore lol. and no, you were very far reaching on trying to say the constitution wasn’t original. Not only is it original but it is maintained. now, are you trying to say it’s not original because they weren’t the first to propose any kind of freedom whatsoever? Sure in that case it wasn’t original

Captains Log 2132019 Company is growing and I am looking ahead to setting the company up for long term success. We are setting up governance so that it works over the long term as the company grows. Currently the leader of the company does not have final say, the council does. The leader can only object/veto up to 3 times and then the decision goes to a super majority vote of the council. Elections are able to be called once per month on the first of each month and to be held within 5 days. This allows for leadership opportunities and also so that company members do not feel that the leadership is an elitist clique of close friends. We are currently putting together a constitution for the company which outlines the core beliefs of the companies founders and then amendments that further refine those beliefs.

That is cheap, IRL ship took 1000 - 2000 oaks The Victory took 6000 Oaks. USS Constitution took 2000. So 3000-4000 for a 74 would seem likely. you could not have build a brig IRL with 400 trees.

ships Suggestions For Ship Changes
Hodo replied to Sovereign Snow's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
Currently the Galleon can be built into a "man o' war" (I hate that term... will go into it at the end). I have tested the design on a much smaller scale and you can effectively double the amount of guns on a side by building a certain way... As for the Man o' War.... That really just means ANY ship of military use.. this could be a ship like the USS Constitution, which was a large frigate, or it could mean something like the HMS Victory a 1st rate ship of the line. -
Let´s talk about ships and sails balance and meta gaming
Hodo replied to Shintai's topic in General Discussion
That would come down to ballast and keel setup. You can also trim the sails to catch the wind but not cause as much heel as you would expect. I am no expert, but the age of sail is a bit of a hobby for me. You would be surprised the amount of canvas a ship can fly before it has to worry about capsizing due to the wind. There are reports of the USS Constitution, a 4th rate 44 gun frigate, having a sustained heel of 14-16 degrees. As for more realism in the sailing.. I would love that. But most players wouldnt know how to handle their ships if they had to worry about the staysails, the jib, and all of the various trimming methods of the sails... not to mention the addition of sailing profiles of a square rigged ship vs a fore-aft rigged ship.... -
You're not really suggesting that the 1st ammendment to the US Constitution is treasonous are you? Because that...is...how do I say this? Not accurate in any sense of the word anyone I know of has ever used the word treasonous?
-
Racist comments actually are protected. Point is moot though, this is a private company not a public square. You can go down to a given street corner or rent out a theater and say what ever you like barring only incitement of violence. And youll be protected by the constitution.
-
You mean the founding fathers that wrote the constitution? So that doesn't make any sense, unless of course you're British, then that makes a lot more sense.
-
Hate speech has consistently and notably been excluded by law and courts from free speech protections including the 1st ammendment to the US Constitution. So while it's true that some folks use charges of racism to try to stiffle dissent, and this is a problem, actual racist comments (and if you read the article this is what is being discussed) are not generally protected. Your comment makes no distinction between the two.

Please consider moving towards a more RPG style stat point system and away from the ark system. This would give more flexibility when calculating bonuses and expanding the effect that stats have on combat. These are just rough draft ideas to get people thinking and hopefully talking. Strength. - This would be carry weight and possibly melee damage. Dexterity. - This could be stamina, possibly critical hit chance, or increased ranged damage. Constitution. - This could be where you get health. Intelligence. - This could be ability related and later on magic related. Wisdom. - This could be crafting skill. Charisma. - This could be used for taming and giving bonus levels to hired NPC's.

I love when people yell at someone for not understanding something while clearly showing they don't understand it. The others are right in saying this isn't a US game or a US server, but even if it was, here you go. Might save you the embarrassment of repeating that crap in other situations: Freedom of speech in the US is granted in the first amendment to the constitution. It says GOVERNMENT SHALL MAKE NO LAWS restricting the freedom of speech. It's about government making laws. It does not stop, for example, a business from requiring that you do not use certain language while you're there, or stop your employer from restricting your speech. If you look in the Articles of Agreement section of this very forum, Grapeshot is restricting your speech and does not want to see Any behaviour that involves racism, discrimination, or personalized harassment. As they are not the US government, they are perfectly free to do this. Freedom of Speech in the way you mean it is not a "thing". What you are fighting is something entirely different - civilization and manners. Most people like both of those.
