  1. As the title reads. I'm trying to set the spawn island for my non dedicated server I'm running with just me and my friends. I didn't want to use the full 15x15 map. That's just too big for 3-4 people playing on. So I found this map that I'm wanting to use. A nice 3x3 grid to run. https://www.survivalservers.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6848-3x3-the-world-of-zion-powerstones-kraken/ I've gone into the map editor to make sure the islands that are supposed to be freeport spawn islands, are. One has the spawnpointregion override set to 0, the other 1. The grid is set as the home region. I keep seeing talk of needing to run a Redis file? But I can't seem to find this anywhere and don't think it's used for non dedicated? Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated. I've been at this for a couple hours now.
  2. Honestly I side with Nari on this. The mechanics are just fine and dandy to me. But my issue is, they aren't ready for the whole legacy mechanic yet. So they shouldn't turn on the aging until they are ready. This way you have a choice. Do you let your character die and you move to the child to carry on the legacy? Or do you seek out the fabled fountain of youth and continue living on. And honestly, if people want to whine and quit the game. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. Means I and others can expand our claims better for our tax offices for those of us that enjoy the game. You don't like the changes? Don't whine, and threaten. Give feedback. They nerfed elephants and just tonight they made animals that I thought were garbage wastes of time being relevant with how much carry weight they now have. I have an elephant with 4k weight, a rhino with 5k weight. I hated the rhino and thought it a waste of time. Now I'll actually use the damn thing.
  3. I mean I'm fine with those mechanics. I think from a roleplay standpoint it's kinda cool. Moving on to playing the child of this great adventurer, setting off to follow in their footsteps and complete the legacy. My issue and concern though is company management and claim territory. When my first character dies, and I go on to playing my offspring. What happens to my company and the claim flags I have down?
  4. So as I understand it. at 100 years old, we're supposed to die and create our offspring that carries on the legacy. Does anyone have any idea what exactly happens with all that? I'm fine if I was reset a few levels. But not so fine if I have to start over at lvl 1. What about my company, the claim flags I've placed down? As it stands. I'm not entirely happy with my character model and currently 94 years old. A couple guys from my company wants to use the fountain of youth so we're setting sail for it. If dying and remaking my character model to my standards is going to cause too many issues as I'm also the holder of the company and the majority of my company's claim flags. I'd rather just use the fountain of youth to avoid the issues. Anyone have any idea what happens? The debuff I can deal with and while it's fairly brutal. I'm fine with the debuffs. Just also feel it should provide an intelligence buff as well.
  5. So far I'm just seeing it with my fine quality sword. If I log out, it unequips the sword. And upon logging back in I have to equip a normal sword before it will let me swap out to my fine quality sword. Obvious I have the required skills to use the fine quality sword. But unless I carry around a spare common sword I can't log back into the game and equip my fine sword.
  6. I'm guilty of racism myself. So I'm not going to complain about racism . But more, I want to see the segregation of EU, NA, and Asia. Even with an empathetic look on it, is it really fair to make Chinesse players have to play with really high ping? And like I said in the OP, even if setting a server in China is a hassle, it's a lot easier to set up in Japan or Korea. Hell might even be easier setting it up in North Korea
  7. And I'm glad that saying things like that makes you feel so much better about yourself. Good for you. Pat yourself on the back, and let's return to the topic of the discussion and not the ramblings of someone that doesn't know what they're rambling about.
  8. I just want to keep the discussion on topic and not ranting about boycotting or wether or not racist comments are legal or not in a forum or online game setting. ^.^ I'm all about constructive discussion and Plus the fact that the point I'm making from the article I linked is that the Devs believe this will just blow over like it does in Ark. But because of the scale of Atlas and how much larger it is, trying to ignore it and hoping it just goes away is going to kill the game.
  9. Rex go make your own thread. I posted this topic for discussion about how to make the game fair and equal for everyone and not having to deal with any player, chinesse or no, openly exploiting bugs and glitches to steal land that according to the devs, should be protected.
  10. Did you even read the point I was bringing with this thread? Just stop before you derail this further.
  11. You mean the founding fathers that wrote the constitution? So that doesn't make any sense, unless of course you're British, then that makes a lot more sense.
  12. So today I came across a little news article that I'm sure many of us have seen. This one here. https://www.pcgamer.com/racism-in-atlas-becomes-a-problem-as-western-and-chinese-players-clash/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0 I gave it a good read and agree with a number of points here. The racism is toxic and needs to stop. That said however, there is one major point made here that is flawed. Where Mister Woodhouse says this. "With the ARK subreddit, we noticed that these things come and go in cycles," MisterWoodhouse says. "If there was a dominant tribe that was taking over a server and there was issues of glitching or duping, that would bombard the subreddit for a couple of weeks. But then it would die down. I think we're going to see that in Atlas. Mister Woodhouse, in this instance, couldn't be any further from the truth. It dies down in Ark cause it's only a single server. And what happens is the people overrun by the dominate tribes leave that server and drift over towards unofficial servers that actually have admins that care about their community and the fairness of the players. This will not be the case with Atlas. Because Atlas isn't multiple official servers you can just hop between if things aren't going your way in the server you're in. It's one big world. With up to 40k players logged into 1 server cluster at a time. The small scale incidents of chinesse or dominant tribes are far greater amplified here. I play on the NA PVE official server. And while thankfully I don't have to worry about waking up the next day, logging in, to find all my ships sunk and my base destroyed and ransacked. I do have an even bigger issue I have to deal with. The fact that even now after all the changes done so far to the claim system on PVE. I have literally had instances of as soon as I finished putting a claim flag down and I claim the land, a chinesse player has come right behind me within an hour and started to contest the claim using proxy servers to confuse the timers. And they admitted to being able to do this. Sadly I do not have the screenshots of the conversation. However, from my own personal experience in many survival games and any game that did not allow or enforce region locking. Chinesse players have always had an advantage over the NA players due to higher ping making them almost impossible to hit in pvp, and in pve instances, always found ways to circumvent game mechanics to screw over NA players at every turn. So, Mister Woodhouse. This problem may very well die down. After the chinesse have driven off all the players from Atlas cause the reason I don't go to an unofficial server is because I want to have the full 15x15 grid before me to set sail across. But because I'm constantly having to play dirty right back in order to protect my holdings in PVE of all places, it's only a matter of time before I say screw it and leave a game that I have already sunk 222 hours in as of this post. Even if setting up a server in China would be a huge pain in the net to establish. If I'm not mistaken, WildCard's parent company is based in China, and even failing that, you can far more easily set up a server for the asian playerbase in Korea or Japan. Unofficial servers are not going to have the same scale cause no one is going to be able to have their own full 15x15 server, its too expensive for a single person to afford, and I've got plenty of disposable income myself and can't afford it. And the official servers are slowly being taken over by a playerbase, no one from north america wants playing with them. So the end result will be, at the game's current course, the PVE server will be fully controlled and played by the Chinesse players and no one from NA will play the game anymore. I leave PVP out cause I do feel that the NA PVP players will rise up and wipe the chinesse completely off the map. But that's just going to push more to PVE, the one's in my grid already have claimed to have come from PVP and gotten wiped out there. So GrapeShot Studios. What are you going to do about this problem? It isn't going to just go away as Mister Woodhouse states. The scale here is WAY bigger than Ark. All I can do on a PVE server to slow these guys down is try to lure alpha predators towards them. Since they don't seem to know how to defend themselves. Or I have to rush to whatever of my territory they are contesting and camp there waiting for them to get bored, which they don't. And slowly loss what land I have left. Even though my claim is SUPPOSED to be protected.
  13. Yeah that works out well. And when raised it provides a reload buff. So it should be rather expensive to make imo for balance
  14. Yeah. That's an option but for me as an RP aspect. I'd raise the colors up when engaging into combat
  15. Let us have the ability to have our flag at the top of our ship's mast. It could be even cooler if it was made to be a special ability in the captaineering tree. Yelling out, "Hoist the colors!" As your flag is raised up and the crew gets a moral buff for faster reload speed on cannons
