  1. never realy have a problem, SotD sometimes land cannons on my gally (4 speed, 2 weight sails), but not enough to worry about. probably because as soon as I see them spawn in I press "s", then see where the rest spawn and go the other way. Slower speed faster turning then unfurl the sails and speed past the edge of them. The AI is not good at calculating turning and speed changes, so most shots miss. before I figured out slowing down was a good idea, I got hammered frequently by SotD
  2. Which of the many woods, metals and other resources should it pull first? Nice idea, but problematic with multiples of the same recource.
  3. Yes mate you are. others might be foolish, ignorant or new, but you are the one using game mechanics to harm other players stuff in PVE.
  4. I'll be in favor of all cooked food giving a buff of some kind, ramping up with cooking tiers. I only use the tier 1 - fish & chips / pork pies for food and all vitamins, and use little else in the cooking tree. If tier 1 gave no buff but there was a tier 2 & 3 fish & chips / pork pies that gave buffs i'd learn those tiers and make the better food, it' should not need harder to find ingredients the points spent on the skills should be enough of a cost. At the moment the higher tier foods are harder to make due to ingredients being quite specific, making cooking harder the better you get just seems plain wrong. it should instead have similar foods to the lower teirs but use easier to get ingredients. a good cook can make a fine meal despite limited ingredients.
  5. being able to kill other peoples tames on PVE will get exploited, so that won't happen. May i suggest having a bit of fun, build a tripple walled trap with slope sides, center one for the tame you're trying to get, and outer one to trap any pesky critters trying to eat it while you do, If someones wander, aggresive tames happen to get trapped too, oh! well never mind. And if you are on an island of insensitive people, it's only fair to not tidy up you trap once you're done with it (it'll be gone in 10 days). Oh! and always leave sign explaining, maybe lessons learnt may help.
  6. It's not the damage, the nerf was because people were luring AotD on golden age ruins islands to the coast and leveling up ships by killing them with ship mounted weapons. But rather than nerf the XP gained from mounted weapons against AotD, they made AotD immune to a whole host of weapons.
  7. Too many players think some aspects of the game are not worth their time, and it kills them. Then they come here and complain that those aspects are crap because it killed them!!!!! One person (not the OP) even complained that dieing, respawning & getting rekitted because he could not be bothered with vitamins, took too long. As Forb Hidden says, just a little preperation and you can live in comfort in any biome
  8. Don't get me wrong, this is a great addition, people have been asking for something like this for months, myself included. Like another poster said, a tavern or a bursars office would have been a lot more thematic. And it does the very minimum required to fulfil it's role, a silo suits you putting berries in it, that makes sense but putting gold in a silo. I imagine our crew digging through thousands upon thousands of berries to get to the gold that has sunk to the bottom of the silo. The dev's have put it in the game and thats fantastic, now how's about making it an item / building that suits the game more.
  9. 35 KPH is unrealistic, not impossible, but made more improbable by the length of time you can run at that speed. But it is still the same, an attribute that can be tweaked. (In ARK speed is a stat you can level up to truly ridiculous levels, be thankful they didn’t keep that when they made Atlas.)
  10. Was a little disappointed it only takes berries. It fit quite well in a spot next to my crop plots, and crops are a way better food than berries. I can understand why as the spoil timer on the silo is just ridiculous and pointless as with only one stack only one berry will spoil at a time. They don’t want it used as a storage container. The thing is, it’s a silo, the very definition of a storage container. They could, for example, have the same spoil timer as a larder. Allow crops to be placed in it for both storage and feeding crew, and with only the one stack you will get improved sustainability, but not excessive.
  11. That is not an error, all speeds / distances in computer games are exagerated. Remember the quote from before the games launch, that it took 40 hours to sail around the world, pre wipe a mate of mine sailed around the world on a raft, took him 15 hours. Speed and distance are attributes to be changed and fine tuned to match the game type you are playing, this is not reality after all.
  12. Might I suggest https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/100449-suggestion-flotsam-catcher/
  13. I remember when triangle foundations first became a thing, the explanation back then was that all three sides are the same size and all current walls, windows, doors etc. can snap straight to them. Making a diagonal half foundation would require making, and having in the game, new models for every single wall type piece as they are longer, a lot of work and asset space.
  14. Wouldn't expect anything else from you. No concept of people choosing to accept a challenge even if an easier option is available.
  15. Nearly every other MMO, you never loose any of your stuff, People are used to this. Atlas is different, you have constructed buildings in the persistant game world, your pets are not icons on you task bar, they are always "out" and needing to be fed. The dev's need to create a balance both for those that come from an MMO background and those that come from an ARK background. Put it this way, what other MMO if you don't log in for 2 weeks will you loose everything you own except whats in your inventory, there is no bank, no storage, just 2 weeks and all your work wiped out. This is what needs to be addressed in some way, personaly I like the structure upkeep idea the devs touted around back in Febuary. ( make the upkeep materials, and have the upkeep box upkeep just those structures attatched to it. Have tames and ships update their timers to highest nearby structure.)
  16. You are only calling it tertiary because you don't like it. Anything in a game that can "KILL" you, has by definition, is fairly important.
  17. LOL. You chose to be lazy and not play the game as intended, and then come here and complain that you being lazy takes too long. That is priceless. (For the rest of us, a button press is all thats required)
  18. Yep, longer or removed spoil timers would be very welcome. I currently have the healing skill up to savior, but so far have never used it due to not wanting to make kits and have them spoil before I get to use them. (another skill tree I tried out and found it just wasn't worth it.)
  19. Might need to tweek the size to make it a standard foundation X,Y by Z size, but yes this would be very welcome.
  20. All they had to do was nerf the XP gained from mounted weapons from AotD.
  21. Relax guys, they are removing speed bonus from crafted sails, to get rid of the disparity of ship speeds. as haveing the big guy's always being able to catch the little guy's is some thing they don't want. But what they will do is increase speeds a little to offset not being able to do so by crafting. (Not 100% on this but seems about right from whats happening and whats been said.)
  22. I think you'll find those options in the "options menu", the clue is in the name. I belive Grapeshot made that "options menu" so I think it's safe to say Grapeshot is giving you the option to change those settings.
  23. We have crew mounted winch on the lift, how about crew mounted winch on a dock crane. If we're going that far out there, how about docks to attach it to.
  24. Does a sword or other bladed item not cut the grapple line?
  25. Sails First off, you shot yourselves in the foot by naming the sails with a descriptor and not just their name, by doing so you’ve limited yourselves to keeping them within that boundary, and naming future sails is going to be difficult. So, to start give the sails their proper names: Square rigged sails, Triangular Sails, Gaff rigged sails. Not only can you put whatever stats suit these sails, you can add new ones with differing or even similar stats. Second, for the love of god, change the angle of handling and weight sails to be correct. Seeing impossible wind physics on these for so long now reminds me every time I see them how little you’ve done for ships compared to other aspects of the game since release. Lastly give each sail a synergy bonus depending on which sails they are placed with and how many and on what ship. Don’t want to see 6 speed sail galleons, have a synergy boost on 2-4 sails, but a negative bonus on 5th and 6th sails as too many block the wind enough and reduce effectiveness. 2nd and 3rd weight sails reduce the speed penalty of cargo racks. The possibilities are multitude. You could also introduce stay sails (the triangular ones pointing forward) as a sail that boosts the synergy bonus of the mast it’s attached to. This could have so many differing sail combinations you would not only have what suits the ships role but also what suits the player sailing the ship.
