Hello everyone, I've been making territory maps for the top Guilds on NA-PvP Kraken. I'll try to keep this updated as often as I can, as well as include notables. These are for fun, and the influence zones may not be accurate to your liking. 12/28/18 12/29/18 12/31/18 12/31/18 - 2 1/1/19 1/2/19 1/3/19 1/3/19 -Updated 1/28/19 https://www.reddit.com/r/playatlas/comments/akw8e3/1282019_power_influence_maps_top_10/

Claims need to be limited to 1 per character, with a maintenance cost. In addition after so many hours if the clay. Isn't built on, it should expire. We've spent 14 hours now sailing, and found no claimable islands. players are claiming everything they come across, and it's then never used. I would also recommend adding another PvP and PvE server cluster to each region worldwide. No need to pack in so many players.

Could you address the claim issue on PVE servers, many many players are unable to get a claim, they are basically unable to play the game.

The real question is why do you people allow such releases from well known dev teams? You demand more, then they will have to change their business tactics and do more. You sit here defending them, hiding behind the "early access" title and you dont sit to think that maybe they could have fucking done better? This dev team worked on Ark. Ark on release also has time out issues and under estimation of population. Shit before this game even came out I told my friends in discord 40k wouldn't even be close enough for release. It doesn't take a genius to figure that shit out. And it was made ever worse by lying to the users and finding out its only 150 pop per server simply connected in a cluster (which isnt fucking new technology btw) They delayed and delayed and delayed. Which is fine but dont delay 3 times then release the game and end up running into the worst release of 2018. Everyone then tries to defend them on the fact that some of these issues couldn't have been caught before the servers weren't under load. Guess what? Its called a free weekend stress test. You open the game for free to public for a few days and stress test your shit to figure out the major issues before you release it. Tons of companies do this... it is very common practice. But no, they released the game one day prior to a handful of streamers then said "yep its good to go lets release it" and basically shit over everyone faces. There is no excuse for a dev team this experienced and has worked on large games like Ark to have learned completely nothing from their previous games and just run into exactly the same issues. It is unacceptable even for Early Access release. Early Access at the core of the game should be functional. How can you say it was even close to that, when half of everyone couldn't even spawn in for 3 days and rubber banding like a mofo? It wasn't even close to playable or acceptable for an early access release. Demand more as players and we will start receiving better products right out the gate. I much have rather them say "oh we are going to delay it for another month or two to work out issues" then could have had a smoother release, rather them rushing it out. Why did they even rush it? Because money.

Why does a damned ship with canons attack a raft ? What is the point of this except ruining peoples experience of the game. A raft that doesn't go any direction fast enough gets shot by SHIPS WITH CANONS ! There isn't any point in damned ships attacking rafts, you can't evade them in time or in any way if you get agro. This damned ships spawn in groups, how are we supposed to evade them with a raft if almost all 3 directions or more are occupied with damned ships? The spawn system is just not right, i bet it isn't even finished or working as intended and still they can spawn with 3+ and be all over the place and you except people to evade the damned ships, it isn't even 1 that spawns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????????????? This isn't normal, DO YOU THE DEVELPERS EVEN PLAY YOUR OWN GAME TO TEST ???????????????????????????????????????????????? Have you ever gone on an island or on the sea to look what a mess that it is ??????????? Do you know that this game is yours ???? Wasting time of people that try to reach a island is not what the intention of a game mechanic should be!!! You just made people almost impossible to reach anywhere and making the game experience worse than already in the state of unplayable it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People paid for this, it isn't your charity or free game or anything like that and you make changes that effects the gameplay NEGATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahoy Pathfinders! We'd like to wish all ATLAS Pathfinders a very Happy New Year! It's been a crazy start to our voyage, and it's already filled with so many exciting memories for us here at Grapeshot Games! We've only just explored the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what ATLAS will be and we're excited for the future ahead. As each night passes, ATLAS gets one step closer to becoming one of the most ambitious online worlds of all time and fulfiling its destiny as the ultimate fantasy pirate adventure! Thank you so much for becoming a part of our crew and we can't wait to show all you scallywags, landlubbers, captains, and seadogs what lies ahead! Development Update We don’t have too much to add this week as the general battleplan is the same, though we’re going to do our best to keep you informed on a regular basis, via Social Media, Discord, and our weekly Captain's Log posts. As mentioned in the previous Captain’s Log, our number one priority at the moment is tackling the stability, connection, and data issues, and we promised that we would make significant progress! Over the last few days, we have released a number of critical updates which have improved our server performance tenfold. We have statistically eliminated over 95% of all crashes, and are presently working on further updates to bring that number down even more. As a team, our direction is now shifting onto connection issues, data loss bugs and general balance and gameplay fixes -- as you can see, some of these changes are already underway! Patch Notes up to v8.56: Current Version: v8.56 - Anyone can now demolish shipwreck structures to regain resources so get your diving suits ready! - NPC Trading Ships are back and no longer affected by wild creature destruction commands! Reminder for those with deep pockets, the trader ships have an epic Dragon which can be purchased for 50,000 gold coins v8.35 - Improvements made to joining/rejoining servers, should make it more reliable and eliminate many cases of connection lost/failure to grab server info. v8.35 - Fixed a bug where HUD may not have shown to players in some cases. v8 - Further improved server stability. - Further reduced Ship of the Damned spawns by 20% - Ship of the Damned now are allowed to "Wander" away from shore if they find themselves close to shore - Ship of the Damned targeting ranges now are reduced by the type of ship (down to 30% for rafts (which means they will now attack rafts - but you have to get pretty darn close to them!) and 0% for dinghies) - -LowMemoryMode now disables the background movies for lighter memory footprint - Changed damage type on repair hammer to 0 against players, human npcs, and creatures - Ships near shore do not attract cyclones anymore - Vultures should now more easily harvest corpses - Ships that players are based on do not use staggered updates now (resolving the issue of the choppy spyglass rotation when in the crow's nest, for example) - Can no longer weapon-charge or dodge when encumbered. - Fixed erroneous reference to chalcedony instead of flint base - Added Ingots/Alloys and Organic Paste to the list of resources allowed in the ship repair box - Tripled gathering weighting of metal in all the generic rocks for both pick and hatchet damage types - Grenades damaged to stone multiplied by 3x - Changed Human Crew character carry inv max weight from 1000 to 60. - Switched damage weightings around so the pick tool is preferred from metal/crystal/gem/salts and hatchet for wood/coal/stone, etc. No adjustments have been made to yield changes, just tools have been adjusted. - Fixed an issue with treasure bottle's spawning (there will now be more of them and more reliably spawned) and increased the quality of loot found in treasures. v7.8 - Further server/networking optimisation to improve server performance and stability. We have effectively eliminated over 95% of our crashes. We'll be continuing to monitor our servers over the coming days ahead and tackle more events. Consequently, we will be turning our primary attention to data transfer issues and connection issues. - Reduced Ship of the Damned targeting range by 50%. We're going to look into scaling that based on the type of ship. v7.6 - Further server/networking optimisation to improve server performance, stability, and connection issues. - Further tweaks made to Ship of the Damned should no longer wander close to shore, however, they may chase you. - Shipyards are now properly tagged on the server side, so enemy players will not be able to demo them unless the decay timer has truly hit 0 on the server. Link to complete Patch Notes: Dynamic ATLAS Maps Round-Up Pathfinders! It’s week 2 and here’s another round up of the Dynamic Maps! For those who aren’t familiar, The ATLAS Dynamic Maps is a system that monitors live in-game territory ownership and indicates which companies dominate over the lands. Soon, the Companies that have occupied Islands for a certain period of time will gain the automatic privilege to name them on the in-game and web maps, as it is their land! So each week with our Captain’s Log, we’ll be including an image to monitor the progress of the maps, taking note of any exits or new arrivals and any drastic changes in the overall claim. Who will come to dominate the ATLAS may very well become clear in the days and weeks ahead, though maintaining a large Empire will likely come with its own longer-term challenges... Remember you can don your tribe’s company flag by stylizing it in the game with a paintbrush! Upload your own images or design it how you like, with the top company flags always being visible on https://map.playatlas.com/ [EU PVP] The Whale’s Wrath Held: XSM???, Cobra, French & Ships, Bad Company, Blackwater Company, BLDX DOUYU56876, and Chem B Arrivals: PUBG GOLDEN HORDE, OOOOOOOOOF, and La Flotte Ancestrale Departures: Le Saint Empire, The Holy Annwn Empire, Blackwater Company, and Marlong. PLEASE, DEVELOPERS! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIX THE DAMN ANIMALS SPAWN! I logged in today, spent half an hour clearing animals off my friggin beach, and they respawn a couple minutes after. All the same thing, with a couple of alphas. DEVELOPERS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!? Why are there 20 hostile predators all in one fucking area? Have to bring your whole damn company just to raid the beach and clear the animals out, holy shit, fix the animal spawn rates.

Forget the Chinese can this game be more about piracy and less like Ark. We don't even need dragons in the game.

Avoiding on open water is one thing, but when they sit on the zone borders, you're screwed. I lost 2 ships this way. The spawn rate is supposed to be low now. I don't understand how they always seem to be waiting for me on the other side of a zone wall.

Right now I feel like they have ships of the damned completely wrong. As of this moment, ships of the damned have been nothing but a disaster to my gaming experience on Atlas, and they seem to get worse with every patch. Even with the decrease in spawns, I still see about 2 whenever I'm sailing. Every ship I've built has been destroyed either while sailing or while offline by ships of the damned. Now its even worse with them attacking rafts. Even with the bare minimums for sea travel, I can no longer travel without worrying about being completely wiped out and wasting HOURS due to a single npc ship that decided it wanted to sink a piece of drift wood. Now I can't even log in without seeing that most, if not all, of my rafts that were parked near a beach have been sunk. If anything is going to ruin my atlas experience, its not the players raiding, its the damned ships of the damned... Now, don't get me wrong. I think Ships of the Damned could be something awesome. I just think there are a few changes that need to be done. Ships of the damned should be near legend. They should be rare, at most maybe one or two per square. In reality maybe one per 2-3 squares. They should have more health, more damage, but less speed. They should either not attack ships without cannons, or should at least not attack rafts. Their loot should be drastically increased to match the increase in difficulty (and to actually make them worth fighting). In other words, Ships of the Damned should be something that everyone talks about, but nobody really sees. Should be something larger alliances are hunting, but in groups rather than alone. Should take at least 2-3 brigs or 2 Galleons to take one down. But yeah, 96 hours into the game and the only thing that has really made me question whether or not I should be playing this is the Ships of the damned. They are nothing but an annoyance for 90% of the players right now. They either need massive changes done or they need to just be removed altogether. I can promise you, as they are now, if they were removed only a small handful of players would miss them, and everyone else would be thanking you. Don't think this is what you want with them.

I am not sure if there is a suggestion section in this forums, anyways, can we have an option to change the font to a normal one? It's killing my eyes and is totally unnecessary for me.

Can you devs make an actual server for these cheaters? Ive been shot through my own base and shot 20 feet underwater. Hunter on NA PVP was duping all yesterday and is now hacking shooting any direction. 1 shot through full plate armor by a simple pistol also with 166 health. With about 30 of them running around doing this. Like I didn't think the chinese would be this back but holy shit the devs won't do anything. We could fight back but not if we get headshot through our walls as we spawn. I just don't get it, alot of people reporting the same thing but devs not taking action? Sounds like Wildcard

I was playing with a friend on EU PVE Yesterday when we decided to sail back to a home port before a friend came on the next day & we came off Atlas at about 9 PM GMT yesterday. I logged back in today to find our ship was destroyed and all our territory was stolen... Our ship was at full health and we left our base less than 24 Hours ago. From my understanding it is 3 Days before your territory can be claimed. So now a few days of hard work getting resources together to build a Schooner and all for nothing. From Patch Notes: V6.5 "PVE Territory can only be claimed if the owner has not been active around the territory within the last 3 days."

This is a really wonderful game. It's a fun and consistent simulation of the Age of Sail. I adore the flintlock pistols and the sail mechanics. But the ocean is full of bloodthirsty neon motorboats. That's not fun or consistent with the theme.

Wolves in this game are not normal to deal with, if you see one, you can assume it will kill you for sure. Level doesn't make any difference, they keep attacking same damage and IT EVEN ADDS MORE WOLVES. Just in couple min. the whole place is littered with wolves. REMOVE THEM OR CHANGE THEM IT'S NOT FUN OR ENTERTAINING IN ANY WAY. Can anyone of the staff just play on an island instead of playing on streamer servers with only spawning items!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just go to an island and play it where wolves spawn and you will most likely really quickly understand your own game, this isn't normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This wolves don't help or do anything good, it just makes the game unplayable!!!!!!

I started on EuPVE, everything worked fine. i switched over to pvp after learning the basic mechanics, but when sailing out of the freeport region with my raft i got kicked. Now I can join every Server exept EuPVP. I fell im stuck between the two server shards, and so i cant reconnect.... Any Idea how i canget back on to EuPVP?

This, and NPC tamed animals.. wolves, lions, tigers, snakes.. all work. Then there is the sleeping in your base NEAR your flag. I like to put my flag in the center of my base and build around it... then place a wall around that... I have then placed small bed huts near each of my nearby flags.. incase I need to spawn on one of them.

I think people are just frustrated that core systems that are vital to the game and game modes are not working and instead of them being acknowledged and priorited by the devs... they are busy making rafts attackable by ghost ships and other quality of life changes. These types of stealing and glitching issues should be the highest prio. If people lose everything they simply quit and dont bother trying again.

I finished building my schooner with its 10 cannons I cant sail without npc crew so I figured I would go use up some of my treasure maps that was one zone over. Had to avoid 10 undead ships to get there, which was doable in the sloop. Landed on the new beach and got the discovery. Nice place, lots of food, even a galleon under construction, it was massive. Had a nice walk around a small mountain to get to my treasure spot, avoided the few bad things that tried to kill me, or shot them with the pistol. Nice pink beacon that sounds like an Ark supply drop when you get to it. All is going fine. Swap my bow for the shovel and walk up to the pink spot to dig.... Up from the ground pop 6 undead. 2 Archers, 3 soldiers and a tanky warrior. Dead in less than 2 seconds. Props to them, I wasnt expecting to have to fight for my loot in a pirate game. Made the walk back again and got my stuff, ran to a nice rock and starting slaying the undead. EXP from those things is awesome. Was level 29 going in, abandoned the encounter at 33 when I realized the warrior was too tanky to kill with bow and pistol. Moral of the story, dont go to an unknown place expecting free loot to pop out of the ground like a diglet. 10/10 for the trip. Will attempt it again once I get my carbine unlocked. Just need 4 more points for unlock thanks to the undead kills.

So i have been reading a lot of posts about how this game is shit and it sucks. A lot of the complaining involves how buggy the game is. You do realize that this is an early access game and these issues are to be expected and the devs are constantly updating the game to make it more playable. It will take time people. As for the OP ships i agree that the ghost ships are way to OP but im sure with time these things will be fixed. The only concern i have is that they are kind of trying to force multiplayer by making a skill cap and not allowing one person to be able to unlock all of the skills. I think that we should be able to play solo and use an NPC crew to sail the seas if we want to. The reason that i say that is because when you join a group of people you have to do what everyone wants and not just what you want. I didnt buy this game for that reason. I have my own objectives and would like to find my own treasure, build my own city, and thrive by myself without relying on the skills of others. That being said i dont mind helping out the occasional person that i see on the islands. Just stating that i really am enjoying this game and cant wait to see what the devs have in store for us in the future.

Get yourself to an unofficial server. Official is not where the challenge is at. Official is where people hide from challenge, and choose instead to be a slave in a Mega.
  39. 2 points
I wouldn't call this the best survival game, nor is ARK. Do I want the game to be easy? No. Do I want it to be tedious, or frustrating? No. Hitting a stone 10 times to get a small amount of resources, as opposed to hitting it a few times and getting the same or more resources, is not hard, or challenging, it's tedious. This is why I would never join a Mega Tribe/Company. The first time somebody handed me a tool and told me to go mine something, I would tell him where to shove that tool. I value my time more than some people, it would seem. I have more pride than to be a slave in a Mega. There is also nothing challenging about a Mega doing an offline raid against a smaller group. And here's the kicker..that's not even PvP. It boggles my mind why some even think it's PvP. It's simply not. I am getting to the point that I think many people are hiding from real PvP by playing "PvP" in games like this. Here's what would be amazing....the Megas actually arrange fights between each other with roughly equal numbers. That's real PvP. Even a 3 vs 4 chance encounter is PvP. Anything short of that, just is not. I suppose that when you bring 20 people and there is a lone defender, that is technically PvP. If you feel good about it, you are the type that will mount a mouse you caught with a mouse trap, on your trophy wall.
  40. 2 points
Let's run away from all undead ships and try to lose as few shits as possible today. It should be a rare encounter people are willing to take on for the loot. Having a ton of undead ships literally spawn everywhere is just an annoyance at this point making the experience horrible for the game.
  41. 2 points
There have been dozens and dozens of posts on this exact topic. Don't you people get it yet? You are being ignored. But there's good news. They updated the animation for rabbits. Soon, you can sit one on your shoulder and get a nice chuckle when an alpha croc bites their lil head off (of course yours will be included as a package deal for the croc).
  42. 2 points
I don't think they should be removed completely, but I do think they should be rare, maybe around the powerstone islands or other high resource value islands. I think that with travel taking so long in Atlas that the only danger to you on the high seas should be from other players (In PvP, in PvE it should just be if you fall off your boat and get eaten by a shark)
  43. 2 points
No. They just don't tell you that they only show you the top 10 companies on the map.

Because the game revolves around sailing and most of us feel that the risk to sailing far outweighs the reward. With the adition of SoD sailing is also way too much of a time investment. Sailing across two tiles weaving in and out of these things with no hope of alt tabbing for 5 minutes to have a piss.. No thanks for this guy, and most people ive spoken to as well. But hey maybe the game just isnt for us.
  45. 2 points
So I went ahead and took the time to give a visual representation for whichever dev decides to take a look at this. Here I am sailing away from the Southern desert freeport.(can't use that bed for right now because the game crashes whenever the map gets pulled up in this server) Here I am crossing into another server cluster.(will i finally be liberated from this hell?) 2. I've successfully crossed into a new server.(Woohoo!!!! Freedom!!! I can finally use a bed/respawn/teleport/change home server without being sent back to that pit!!!) 3. Oh..Ok...(I guess I can play the game on hardcore mode....haha.) 4.

Instructions dedicated servers I have 2 dedicated servers and I ended up hosting my image files through my website and that solved the problem I now have the true map on the loading screen the minimap now works and treasure maps also work perfectly. Create a directory on your website like the following http://yourwebsite.com/images/ServerGrid (or something along those lines) upload all your exported cellImgxxx.jpg images and the MapImg.jpg to that location and edit your ServerGrid.json file In your ServerGrid.json line 4 and 10 I believe: "MetaWorldURL": "http://yourwebsite.com/ServerGrid" "MapImageURL": "http://yourwebsite.com/ServerGrid/MapImg.jpg"

I live in the tundra and have zero problem with the fact that there is no sap or decent fibre here I simply travel and ship it in..... This game is after all about sailing... My problem isnt that the tundra is broken my problem is that the other Biomes are NOT correct and need similiar problems that make them travel!!!!

So, you can take the file from the claiming flag and duplicate it. Then rename the file to _SailGeneric_C for a RAft-Sail. I specific tried it at an Double-Sail and on a Raft sail. Raft-Sail File Ends with: _SailGeneric_C instead of the _ClaimingFlag_C and the Double-Sail is: _SailDouble_C Note: The double Sail one wont work with that Resolution, Im Looking for a fix Right now. Just gimme some time
