  1. I'm taking the official launch off, need to get in before the foundation spammers.
  2. I'll be playing more than ever after the wipe Looking fwd to it. Have abandoned the game right now in lieu of the apoc... will be back after dooms day
  3. LOL And with one word, the man in charge of this awesomeness drops a wrecking ball on the thread. Keep up the good work
  4. Probably one of these meta alpha strike 40 large cannon on stern jobbies
  5. Blame the players, toxic and trolling gameplay is to blame. If a kid is being a dick with a stick, take the stick away and he can't be a dick with it. Grapeshot are just being responsible parents here.
  6. Still no No PvP on a PvE server. Stands to reason.
  7. I think people like to go grandiose in PvE though. In PvP everything is functional in one way or another, but in PvE you can't ignore some people love RP elements. Never on a PvP ship, you'd build a kitchen / galley, bedrooms, relaxing lounge, observation / fishing platform.. the same goes for houses / bases. heck, my rl friend added a cinema room to the complex. WTF for I'll never know, but he did it for the 'why not'. I think limiting the number of foundations to keep buildings lilliputian could be quite restricting for the creative minds, although it is a good idea and I think on the right lines. The problem still isn't the game it's the mentality of someone that foundation spams half an island, and why they do it. Be it for greed or security. I just think claim flags could work if you just simply can't spam them. I'd say have 1 primary flag per island, and much smaller secondary flags which effectively lets you build, but you do not have exclusive ownership rights over what's built in it.. eg a taming pen with door, it'll be classed as 'public'. Under secondary flag rules, it will be a public construction. That way it will make players think if they want a coastal or more inland main base, and it'll allow people to build walkways / bridges etc without using up their base allowance. Dunno at the end of the day. It's Grapeshots sword to wield, we're just players
  8. I'm ok with shops in freeports, would give an excuse for a cargo ship I was under the impression that there are no shops in PvE...... but if there are just on FP islands, then that's no so bad... most places live within a stones throw
  9. The only true way to stop fence spamming is to go against my better judgement and have an area system that defines a 'reasonable' build perimeter around your base. The center of this perimeter could indeed be a flag of sorts. Anything within that area doesn't degrade (but still turns demolish-able if no activity in a specified time), anything outside that area decays at an accelerated rate. That way, you can't just go spamming foundations across half the map, but are limited to a respectful area. This does however prevent trap building, and some people live on hell hole islands where they need to build 500m of ladders straight up and mountain trails to get to places.
  10. Think the only one I went against the grain on was the 'happy with no claims'. I mean, I have only ever lived in lawless, have no idea what it's like having a claim. Never been able to place a flag in the absolute red covering each and every island... for me, no flags can only be good
  11. The game did need a wipe, all the old hacks / dupes, ravished coastal areas in Lawless, and unending flag spam in claimed just makes Atlas a joke. Purging characters I don't necessarily feel contributes much. Your characters aren't the weakest link here. I do like many of the proposed changes though, and despite the hate, I actually think a lawless type set up could work well. The blight on lawless was the foundation spam. Solve that and problems end. It's the lesser evil than the sea of red covering every inch of claimable land which locks everyone out.
  12. Impossible to execute that level of mindless island trawling with our manpower vs time constraints. So again, we have those that are 'time wealthy' creaming everything, and of us that hook up with mates on a Friday night after a busy week for some R&R time just see walls of red outside lawless.
  13. There isn't though. Right now if I sail in to a non lawless area.. all i see is red.. everywhere.. literally everywhere. We have travelled, we went on a treasure spree, and each and every island was the same. Infact, a couple of months ago, I came to the forum, and pretty much begged anyone, somewhere to relinquish a scrap of land..... it coinsided with the changes, so all the timers were messed up. Hopeless. Lawless isn't any better, each and every mm of coastline is spammed with shipyards. We're lucky... we found a swampy area of coastal hell in one of the lawless zones and bulldozed the trees and shrubs to get a shipyard up ourselves.. I still can't think of a solution to any of this, however.
  14. What stops a Chinese conglomerate spamming flags across the whole map, un-hindered by man power, but everyone else encumbered and limited by man hours / flags? What you're doing there is stopping the poor getting anywhere, and letting the rich run with impunity over each and every island in a region. You'll just end up with 2 or 3 conglomerates milking swathes of islands, and everyone else gets griefed and bullied into lawless. Which leads to the devs choice to make everywhere lawless so the majority of players aren't pushed on to few lawless islands in the first place. *shrugs*
  15. PvP activity should not exist or occur on a PvE server, at any point or place. PvP exists in full glory on a PvP server
  16. My single biggest issue is spamming. Flag spamming, then foundation & shipyard spam in lawless. There isn't a solution for either. Will have to see what happens post update / during beta. Also on any island I visited, lawless and claimed land equally, people were just trolling others and building over treasure spawn points, and hutting off metal nodes. One company walled off an entire portion of island, no way in. I think when people behave like that, it's not the games fault, it's the games problem. We're not kindergarten kids, we know what is, and not in the spirit of the game, so why do people act like buffoons? You answer that and you have the solution.
  17. It's why we're going to be on PvE & lawless lol. Foundation spam the foundation spammers. just depends on who gets where first.... or should I say, it depends on who can actually log in amidst the frenzy of connection spamming and 'connection time out' client messages. You just know that the one dude you know will foundation spam, has a flawless connection from when the on switch is pulled, and I, will repeatedly get TIMEOUT for 6 hours while he fills the island up...
  18. I don't mind the server wipe, I think it was needed. What i am curious about though is the necessity to wipe out player characters. It took a long time to level to where some folks are, and skilling up from 'punching trees' for wood is not a revitalizing prospect.
  19. This for me. Love atlas, but playing now is pointless. Even if they did 1000x rates, still wouldn't play. It's all wasted time until the actual wipe and then, it's back to the old slog rebuilding everything... assuming another wipe won't be on the cards.
  20. There'll be strategically placed rafts all along the coastline instead of foundation spam. One way to block players landing boats and building ship yards.
  21. I guess the up side is, that fewer players, the more land to go around.... (if one scrapes the barrel for some silver lining)
  22. Also a big shout out to FIXI and Company of Francis Crozi for this excellent display of bad sportsmanship.
  23. for foundation spam blame the people, not the devs! It's the people that are doing it
  24. they just need to have a way to distinguish foundation spam with legitimate buildings.
