solution Problems with PvE Changes, and a Proposed Solution
SilkBD posted a topic in General Discussion
So I've identified some problems with the upcoming changes on the PvE side of things and I wanted to list them here simply and with clarity: 1. Because there are no claims, people can pillar off someone's base very easily, pillar off their entrances and pathways in and out as long as there's a patch of ground within a few meters away from their foundations. And there's nothing they can do about it. 2. Because there are no claims, people can place pillars and ceilings around someone's boat in their own port, forever blocking their boat in and preventing them from using it. And there's nothing they can do about it. 3. This already happens in Lawless zones (it happened to me today), and there's nothing that can be done to solve the problem. 4. People can put large tames in front of other companies' gates and doorways, blocking them in from using it. They can use tames to block parts of their base as well... forever. And there's nothing they can do about it. 5. With the new system, they can just slap down an auto-repair structure next to their griefing pillars, and keep it repaired... indefinitely for as long as they choose. And there's nothing anyone can do about it. So, this is a non-trivial problem with the PvE mode of the game, and has greater weight given that there are no active Admins managing each server for things like this. I'm not going to post a bunch of problems without proposing a solution for consideration and nitpicking. My proposed solution: 1. Allow claims on all islands including the current lawless 2. Make the claim radius around 50% to 75% smaller than the size it is currently 3. Limit claims to 1 flag per island per player 4. Allow ships to temporarily pass through other companies' structures and ships, as an explicit emergency toggle for 2 minutes on the ship's multi-use menu 5. Allow a company to eject other companies' tames from their claim that have been there for over a hour (or whatever arbitrary time is reasonable for balance reasons) That's my proposal, feel free to poke holes in it, I'm only one perspective. -
I do believe this is a type of griefing, where the previous owner jammed his boat in the the middle of a camp / dock while it being constructed. I have created a ticket with all the info and screen caps, however it does not seem to be getting any attention. while there might be many things i can do on the same level as this player , i don't see an end, and just wasting time.. I would hope an server admin and the folks that control such things would rid me of the problem. I am not bothered by a someone contesting the claim, i even tried offering a dialog, a trade of sorts i was open to anything. but putting a boat there in PVE where i can't touch seeme like misuse of game mechanics. I understand its alpha, and balance is a thing that is still in the works, and even that fact i can't touch this boat is from a fix so stop other types of griefing. I included much detail in my ticket and i have not even gotten a single response, the issue with context of the ticket is pretty cut and dry. others have reported the same issue with the same player. Are these issues being handled ? Is there any ETA? I do enjoy the taxes just incase my buddy Davey Jones ( +1 on creativity buddy ) is reading, ya talking about you, i would have been happy to trade / sell / split. but now we will just keep taxes.

We are getting griefed by 2 companies. They are dragging in SoTD's that are destroying bases and ships. Galleons, Brigs, Schooners, and stone bases are all getting destroyed by them. One company is Mumu Mu?? and the other is ????????. Legacy Trading and Drunken Cowboys/Company of Skeazy Rascal for sure have gotten hit by this.

I have created a ticket for this but I will also make this bug thread since it is also a bug that is being taken advantage of by a Company known as "The doves". This Company has been using an exploit/bug to clear out other Company's claims. According to people who witnessed this when you drop a claim flag down, you can drop another one in a place you normally couldn't while the first one is claiming. They left these overlapped, please go to it for proof. Or alternatively, monitor them as they do it.

So i just caught a dude trying to offline-sink my brigantine on NA-PVE by luring crocs to it and standing on the deck. I just happened to log in ealier than normal and killed the crocs and called him out for his behavior. no reply, of course. So tell me Grapeshot, what's your approach to resolving this crap? because any idiot can climb over walls with climbing picks and any AI i hire obviously won't shoot at them to keep them away from my boats. currently the only viable option seems to declare war on them, and that's clearly not a viable solution long-term for griefers.

i just logged in to find the ship i just finished last night and sailed once was sunk because someone overloaded it by filling up my smithy on the deck. This renders anything without a usable lower deck insecure and useless. No point building it if someone can sink it by mining a few stones for a few minutes. Why the hell can anyone i didn't give permission to put ANYTHING in my ship? Add pin codes to any and all stations in PVE. To not do so means you are considering these griefing actions in PVE to be acceptable. They are not. I don't know if i even want to play now. What's the point?

I was disappointed to see that the building system in Atlas is mainly just a copy/paste of the system from Ark (minus a few improvements). One of the worst things about the vanilla building system (of the many horrible issues) is the Behemoth Gate. At least in Ark you had creatures like the Bronto that could explain this gargantuan edifice. This gate is MASSIVELY oversized for Atlas, especially with an elephant almost being able to fit through a regular gate. Why they have not implemented dynamic gates or a more appropriately sized option in Atlas is beyond me, but the result is the same. In PvE you have people spamming these massive gates as their entire base structure, with no thought or regard to their neighbours. I understand that some people will argue that this is the cheapest and easiest way to protect a base, and they would be right. This does not mean that it should be this way. I feel that it is exploitative, uneccessary, and simply diminishes the beauty of the game to allow these monstrosities to be spammed all over the map. Thanks for bearing with me through all that everyone. May the wind be at your backs out there.

Every night we and our neighbours lose more territory and buildings to Chinese mobs that play throughout the night in NA. These people refuse to communicate, do not interact with other players, and aggressively expand and steal claims. This will continue to go on as long as Chinese players are allowed to play in NA and EU servers. If you are going to sell to Chinese gamers than you need to provide Chinese servers to lock them in. Gamers in China have so far displayed an inability, and an unwillingness, to embrace the spirit of PvE and social gaming. Please region lock the Chinese players so that these cultural differences stop creating so much rage and frustration. Thank you.

So look at this, another post about buoy griefers and the devs still havent done anything. We have a company on our island, Nangue Haven, in K6, who has been griefing for 3 days now. First they were abusing the hammer glitch to kill sleeping people and take their property. Now, they have placed buoys all over the island, blocking all of its spawns, and are even bragging about this being their 4th island. Y'all need to do something about this asap, because this buoy bug has made the PvE servers far more hostile than the PvP servers ever could be. Just remove the damn buoys from the game until you figure out how to fix them, its not that hard. Here is a screenshot of them bragging. And one of *some* of the buoys they have placed. Literally all you have to do to save the PvE servers is remove the buoys and the ability to craft them until you fix them. Thanks.

Hey all, Just lost another schooner tonight due to grief-sinking which got me thinking about ideas as to improve the current system. What do you guys think about for PvE, ships don't take damage when over-encumbered, they just can't move period and are at a dead stop. I think it's pretty silly that a ship can so easily be destroyed by a few extra kgs. This solves a few issues: 1. people can't all jump onto a ship and sink it through the weight difference 2. prevents people from deliberately sinking ships for wreck diving salvage 3. it would adhere to the expected PvE ruleset which is why people typically roll on PvE servers to begin with As for PvP servers: I think the damage should be severely nerfed to something in the realm of 1-50 damage per tick (depending on the weight being applied) OR vastly increase the time between ticks so it doesn't make a ship sinkable in a few minutes. 1. this allows people to have a reasonable amount of time to respond to threats and actually make use of ship and player battles I know people will counter this with the people on rafts that grief dry-docked ships from launching by blocking the path, but what about pushing another ship causes drift?

When i was building a sloop, 2 random guys approached the shipyard on a raft and just destroyed the shipyard and sunken the sloop. Or the other issue is that my raft with many resources and almost prebuilt sloop in a freeport gets sunken by another 2 random guys who were just staying on my raft for like 10-20 minutes doing nothing... So in conclusion, Im afraid of building the schooner because of that, including that 2.5x multiplier is going to end soon and this bug still exists. Im even afraid of playing this game when i know that everything excluding the surface buildings can be easily destroyed. But still i think the game is still awesome, but this bug really needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

a group of people are going around sinking people's rafts by encumbering the raft and sinking it. it's smart thinking by the offenders, but i don't think it fits in the PVE environment.

Griefers have come up with creative loopholes and exploits to claim peoples territory even after the recent changes which are SUPPOSED to give you 3 days of protection. I will provide screenshots to show proof of this. They can destroy your buildings and kill your sleeping players. This cannot be allowed under any circumstances on a PVE server. The 3 day protection simply DOES NOT WORK. Even replacing the flag has not provided us with protection from having our territory stolen. If you are not online nonstop then you will have your claim stolen. Sleeping in the claim is not good enough. Logging out is a death sentence for your land. I love the game but am getting frustrated! I want to know when these exploits will be addressed, fixed, or even acknowledged by the developers. It is becoming very old to deal with these people who are online 24/7 looking to steal your claims and destroy your stuff that you have worked hard for.

How can players demolish the structures of others in pve? Stealing the trunks on the ship is fine ... but inside the house, it's absurd. demolished my ship base construction. if I wanted to be rationed I would play on the pvp server. even my chests with passwords, 2 guys came and stole everything. and destroyed my ship under construction. This is unacceptable, I can not even retaliate since I am in PVE !!! and this should not happen.

On the PVE realm there is a bug with claiming. When you are contesting a claim of some one that has been offline long enough, and someone comes in to contest it as well it increasing your current timer to claim. My company had finally found a spot, and we were 15 minutes away from claiming. Some one came in and continually try to contest and stop contesting. It took the timer from 15 minutes right back up to an hour and 30. This is a great way to grief players on PVE.
