  1. Next, we will focus only on PvE servers. After the announced changes, I worked hard to understand the new system of pretensions. The main drawback that I have identified for myself is spam foundations. Not even so much the spam foundations itself, but the lack of any ability to defend against it. At any time, you can build up REP resources on a foreign island, block the exit from the base for large animals. Everything offered by the developers on this issue - to wait until I get old. If complete aging occurs within a few hours, the main construction on the PvE turns into nonsense. If the complete aging takes a few days, the nonsense begins with mass spam buildings. And after all, no one forbids to update their 5 foundations every day, to block valuable resources from the whole island. Anarchy without the ability to respond to aggression with aggression does not work. Here I've highlighted the main point for consideration: - ability to destroy other people's buildings. Of course, press all will give this ability to be a little worse option than presented by the developers at the moment. It turns out that the island should have its own Governor. Here I can offer two options: - the Governor is elected by a vote of all the inhabitants of the island (the more buildings on the island, the more weight has his voice); - the owner of the island is chosen by auction. (- of course there is a third option - power option, but there is no PvP, so do not consider) The first jam we get some semblance of the game in politics. If the island has a new owner, he gives his bet to the former owner (in fact buys the territory). As bets can be accepted resources, gold, drawings, maps, animals,... (all that is not nailed to the floor throws at auction), while resources from the island are with a reduced ratio, and brought and rare - with increased. As a result I see the picture of the tightened trade soldiers on PvE where the real cost of a piece of the earth at the moment is known. Yes, of course all this time the owner must pay taxes for the maintenance of land (the more Islands, the higher the tax). Based on this, the owners need small bonuses at the auction. And finally about the collection of taxes by the Bank from its territories. At the moment the rate is less than 30% - this is pure politics without direct influence on the game. После объявленных изменениях, я усердно разбирался с новой системой притензий. Главным минусом, который я выделил для себя - это спам фундаментами. Даже не столько сам спам фундаментов, а отсутствие каких-либо возможностей защититься от этого. В любой момент можно застроить респ ресурсов на чужом острове, заблокировать выход с базы для крупных животных. Все, что предлагают разработчики по этому вопросу - ждать пока состарится. Если полное старение происходит в течении нескольких часов, то основное строительство на PvE превращается в ерунду. Если же полное старение занимает несколько дней, то ерунда начинается при массовом спаме построек. И ведь никто не запрещает обновлять свои 5 фундаментов каждый день, для блокирования ценных ресурсов у целого острова. Анархия без возможности ответить агрессией на агрессию не работает. Тут я выделил основной пункт для рассмотрения: - возможность уничтожать чужие постройки. Конечно, давить всем подарят такую способность будет немного худшим вариантом, чем представленным разработчиками на данный момент. Получается, что на острове должен быть свой губернатор. Тут я могу предложить два варианта: - губернатор выбирается путём голосования всех обитателей острова (чем больше построек на острове, тем больший вес имеет его голос); - владелец острова выбирается путём аукциона. (- конечно есть и третий вариант - вариант силы, но тут уже не PvP, так что не рассматриваем) При первом варенье получаем некоторое подобие игры в политику. Где-то подкупить, где-то пообещать и в итоге за тебя все голосуют. Я от политики далёк и в игрушке хотел бы заниматься точно не этим, и второй вариант мне кажется куда более занятным: На PvE имеем такую же систему флагов как на PvP, но претендовать на землю нужно не по средствами объявления войны, а путем выкупа территории через открытый аукцион. Допустим, нам понравился остров и мы решили его заиметь. Для этого делает ставку (через банк или флаг или просто условное меню острова). У владельца и других претендентов есть 2 дня на то, чтобы сделать ставку выше. Аукцион заканчивается когда проходят 2 дня с момента последней ставки. По окончанию аукциона присваивается новый владелец острова или остаётся старый. Со всех ставок (которые все это время лежат в условном хранилище (в хранилище можно добавлять, но нельзя забирать до окончания торгов)) снимают по 30% (удаляются) и оставшиеся 70% возвращают претендентам. Если у острова новый хозяин, то он отдает свою ставку прежнему владелицу (по факту покупает территорию). В качестве ставок могут приниматься ресурсы, золото, чертежи, карты, животные, ... (все что не приколочено в полу закидываем на торги ), при этом ресурсы с острова идут с пониженным коэффициентом, а привезенные и редкие - с повышенным. В итоге я вижу картинку затянутых торговых воин на PvE, где известна реальная стоимость куска земли на данный момент. Да, естественно все это время владелицы должны оплачивать налоги за содержание земель (чем больше островов, тем выше налог). Исходя из это владельцам нужны маленькие бонусы на торгах. И на последок про сбор налогов банком со своих территорий. На данный момент ставка менее 30% - это чистая политика без непосредственного влияния на игру. Я предлагаю вариант с выбором баланса из двух показателей. С одной стороны привычный нам процент в пользу банка (так ленивые владелицы могу фармить не фармя). С другой стороны возможность добывать больше ресурсов со своих земель. Смена курса происходит не чаще раза в день. Пример, ползунок с 7 позициям: 1. Налог 30%, бонус 0% 2. Налог 25%, бонус 2.5% 3. Налог 20%, бонус 5% 4. Налог 15%, бонус 7.5% 5. Налог 10%, бонус 10% 6. Налог 5%, бонус 12.5% 7. Налог 0%, бонус 15% (все выше сказанное является только домыслами просто игрока; цифры ориентировочные. Простите за мой английский)
  2. Grapeshot recognizes a Land Claim problem and is working on fixing it. "Please see the quote below from the recent Captain's Log" Now is the time for us to give feedback and suggestions before anything is carved in stone. I had some ideas that I was thinking about placing in suggestions area, but as a systems analyst I recognize that identify exactly what the problem is to be fixed is important. So let's identify problems that we see as server owners and then when offering any suggestions tie it to those problems. As server owners I believe we are in a unique position to pinpoint and evaluate this problem not only for unofficial servers but for official as well. PROBLEM New players and small tribes are finding it difficult to find areas to build on so that they can enjoy the fullness of Atlas content. Land is also needed to build a shipyard to build a ship. Players can get stranded if their ship is destroyed and they can't build! This very problem can be a deal breaker for new players and can cause them to quit outright. For Atlas to succeed it is going to need a steady injection of new players and it needs to retain players. Solo and small tribes are going to be important to long term success. CURRENT MECHANICS CONTRIBUTING TO ISSUE Claim flags seem to be the biggest roadblock to players being able to build bases on land. Issues: Top Companies based on number of claim flags - this encourages more land claiming when that is a major issue! Taxes - The whole tax system encourages players to have claims just for resources Ark Feudalism - While the idea of owning land that others build on is novel, players want to want to OWN land! No cap on claim flags per individual or tribe - there is no system in place to limit a company or individual on the amount of claims they can have Claims are easy to place - Instead of tying land ownership to something that takes time like building, claims are very quick and easy way to claim a good portion of land. Claims can't be sized to company needs - No matter what size base or structures someone is building. This means companies may be claiming more land than they actually need. Water claims are huge - Water claims are particular huge and compound the problem of amount of land claimed. Land can't be claimed even NEAR claim flags - this creates an inefficient use of land as sometimes there are areas in between claims that could hold bases and are not used. Circular design adding to issue? - would square be more efficient use of space. Claims don't go away on their own - new players have to go to particular effort to find a claim with good amount of decay and the ability to contest . Complicated timers - Still trying to figure out what factors go into claim decay. Contesting Claims can be disrupted by those outside of claim ownership - To my understanding, you don't even need to be a member of the company that owns a claim to disrupt? Company owners/admins can't limit which members can claim land Company owners/admins can't tell who is claiming land or has placed a claim Company owners/admins can't limit the type of claims set - company only, company and allies, etc. No tool for Company owners to easily see how much land is claimed and detailed about the claims No good water base options One alternative to having a base on land is having one at sea. Some companies / individuals could be perfectly happy with that. While non-land bases would come with their own challenges it could solve part of the core issue. Obstructions to water bases: There is no good ship for optimal base use - Players can't build beyond hardly beyond the sides of ships. There is no vessel designed for base building. Crops can't be grown on ships There are no options for floating / immobile bases Weight restrictions prohibit / limit boat base building Land is limited per map square - while server owners and map designers have the ability to change map squares, the official map is mostly water with limited land. SERVER OWNER CHALLENGES Server owner/admins ability to combat the core issue is limited. Claim flags can not be easily destroyed or taken ownership of Claim flags can't be limited per company/individual No way to wipe JUST CLAIMS from a map - This could be an easy way to half clean a map as decay timers would start on buildings. No option to allow beds to be placed in non-claim areas Claim flag decay can't be controlled? Claim amount only counts LAND claims and water claims can't be limited No official tools in place to easily identify how many claims a company has No ship settings - changing qualities like carry weight, allowing crop growing on ships, ability to build outside of ship limits No way to remove banks and/or control tax levels No way to disable or control claim flag settings (Company and allies, everyone build) Does anyone else see any issues / challenges not addressed? What do you all see as the worst issues? I do want to talk about possible solutions but it is good to clearly identify what the problem is and what may be contributing to it first. Thoughts? I've been playing Atlas every day since it was released in EA and have opened servers shortly after files were available. Still there absolutely could be things I got wrong about mechanics and the limitations of server owners. Please inform me of any errors. (Politely please?)
  3. I have created a ticket for this but I will also make this bug thread since it is also a bug that is being taken advantage of by a Company known as "The doves". This Company has been using an exploit/bug to clear out other Company's claims. According to people who witnessed this when you drop a claim flag down, you can drop another one in a place you normally couldn't while the first one is claiming. They left these overlapped, please go to it for proof. Or alternatively, monitor them as they do it.
  4. Every night we and our neighbours lose more territory and buildings to Chinese mobs that play throughout the night in NA. These people refuse to communicate, do not interact with other players, and aggressively expand and steal claims. This will continue to go on as long as Chinese players are allowed to play in NA and EU servers. If you are going to sell to Chinese gamers than you need to provide Chinese servers to lock them in. Gamers in China have so far displayed an inability, and an unwillingness, to embrace the spirit of PvE and social gaming. Please region lock the Chinese players so that these cultural differences stop creating so much rage and frustration. Thank you.
  5. I understand this is EA. I would not expect this all to be fleshed out yet. However i have a few suggestions as someone in a um.. large company? The crew logs need some filters. PLEASE i beg you for this. * A simple search box at the top that worked client side would solve so much to start. * Categories with there own entry limits * logs PER SECTOR (A1,b2 etc). With options to monitor those sectors as being on by default. (including notifications messages see below). A graphical way to switch between sector logs would be nice but im fine with a dropdown list of every sector that has a claim flag from my company. * Notification Messages - If you have several sectors all these messages about claim's going up and down are alarm fatiguing everyone. No one even pays attention to them anymore and everyone just would rather not see all this stuff scrolling across the screen all day. Even if it got put in another chat window that could be toggled on and off on screen that would be even better. * Claim Flags, Right now a notification pops up for 1 second , if you blink you miss it. (see above) . Could we please indicate on the atlas map a yellow or orange contested graphical representation of where. You use gps coords (and maybe its a stand in for something like this already) but theres no way for me to look at my map and say ok, thats where it is. So one of the two if fine with me. If you show me coords on the atlas map AND have a seperate chat window or filterable log or something where i can look at the flag being contested i can then atleast understand whats going on. * Permissions. Please i beg you, use a permission and group allowance based system. The 5 groups with set permissions are not enough control. To explain further.. Allow me to setup simply group names. Assign permissions to the group. Then add players to that group. Players should be allowed to be in mutiple groups not just one. Then when i set permissions on the few objects in the game that need it (storage containers, BOATS PLEASE BOATS, doors , crafting stations etc) i can just have a default group (like basic member) and add other USERS OR GROUPS to allow or deny access. This gives SOOOOOO much more control than you currently do and when there are 100's of people in a company its needed. * Inventory Logging. I understand if every inventory was logged and had inventory adjustment records it would be way to much, but perhaps put safes in the game and allow inventory tracking, who takes and puts what in and out. Even if i have to craft another item or stick an npc in a chair and desk with a log book to RP it up. * Company Tab. This also needs a search. A simple textbox that i can type a name into and have the list of names shrink until its only that person. Giving someone admin or find the persons name and taking it away is to much. im sure there is more but this is what ive spent the time typing out for now
