So I have been going crazy trying to set up my own dedicated server which dozens of issues. When I finally got it running, I could not connect to my own server. Thinking I was doing something wrong with the port forwarding made me want to rage quit and delete the game till the awesome Youtuber Skarvig pointed out that my router (Comcast/Xfinity) does not allow NAT Loopback, which means you can't see your network publically from inside your own network. There's an obscure mention of this too by the devs saying it does not support local connections but after trying for 3 days, i just now was able to play my own server! [Solution] Get a router that supports NAT Loopback or use a VPN to route your server, or your connection back to it. tl/dr: If your ports are all forwarded, and your firewall is not blocking you, make sure your router accepts NAT loopback or use a VPN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PURoHAv7OqM - Atlas 3x3 Map - Downloadable Template

Ya'll know how slow it is to back up your boats? Plz dev, just plez. Increase boat backwards motion in the ocean atleast 2-3x, feels like i spend 1 hour a day just backing up my ship towards our harbour. Everyone agrees on this, everyone. Trust me, amazing. Thanks! See you in-game!

solution Problems with PvE Changes, and a Proposed Solution
SilkBD posted a topic in General Discussion
So I've identified some problems with the upcoming changes on the PvE side of things and I wanted to list them here simply and with clarity: 1. Because there are no claims, people can pillar off someone's base very easily, pillar off their entrances and pathways in and out as long as there's a patch of ground within a few meters away from their foundations. And there's nothing they can do about it. 2. Because there are no claims, people can place pillars and ceilings around someone's boat in their own port, forever blocking their boat in and preventing them from using it. And there's nothing they can do about it. 3. This already happens in Lawless zones (it happened to me today), and there's nothing that can be done to solve the problem. 4. People can put large tames in front of other companies' gates and doorways, blocking them in from using it. They can use tames to block parts of their base as well... forever. And there's nothing they can do about it. 5. With the new system, they can just slap down an auto-repair structure next to their griefing pillars, and keep it repaired... indefinitely for as long as they choose. And there's nothing anyone can do about it. So, this is a non-trivial problem with the PvE mode of the game, and has greater weight given that there are no active Admins managing each server for things like this. I'm not going to post a bunch of problems without proposing a solution for consideration and nitpicking. My proposed solution: 1. Allow claims on all islands including the current lawless 2. Make the claim radius around 50% to 75% smaller than the size it is currently 3. Limit claims to 1 flag per island per player 4. Allow ships to temporarily pass through other companies' structures and ships, as an explicit emergency toggle for 2 minutes on the ship's multi-use menu 5. Allow a company to eject other companies' tames from their claim that have been there for over a hour (or whatever arbitrary time is reasonable for balance reasons) That's my proposal, feel free to poke holes in it, I'm only one perspective. -
https://steamcharts.com/app/834910#7d Those numbers include both official and unofficial servers, so the chances are that the drop on official is higher than unofficial. It will probably get worse over the next few days as people start to 'go out with a bang' The biggest problem with the upcoming wipe is the wiping of characters, or more importantly the characters DP's. The real level grind in the game is search for and discovering as many of the DP's as possible which in turn lets you level up. People have literally spent hundreds of hours sailing from place to place to find these discovery points. By wiping characters there is simply no reason to log in for the next 3 weeks, this will result in players trying other games, some will find a new crack, others will just not want to face searching for the same DP's again. End result is a much smaller player base after the wipe. My suggestion is that they retain characters, set everybody's xp to 0, forced 'respec', wipe inventory, claims, tames, map etc so after the wipe everybody comes back with their characters as level 1's, with no xp and only retains their DP's. This would also encourage everybody to keep playing and spending the next 3 weeks exploring the map and keeping player engagement. Fail to do this and i generally think post wipe you will see a 30~50% player reduction than from before the wipe announcement.
