Tavern. Let us build a simple building, like a tax bank, where we can place gold and food. Make it cover the island, just like the flag does, and feed/pay all manned crew. If you want to get really fancy, make it possible to "hire" crew every once in a while, just like a freeport vendor. For the love of god, it would make this game 10x better overnight. We spend HOURS a day running around trying to feed/pay crew, and going to the freeport to replace them. I can't explain how big of a deal this would be. Please.

Ahoy Pathfinders! We have much to share! Let's get down to business, shall we? Mega update 3! Mega Update 3 is on the horizon and we’re excited to share some more teasers and information! New Islands: Discover! More new, unique Islands will be landing on the ATLAS giving you more opportunities to own land, explore and unlock new Discoveries. New Cosmetics: Sail Skins! Unfurl new sails against the sky with new Sail Cosmetics. The new cosmetics for small and medium sails lend the appearance of a delicate Junk or Sampan rig with bamboo slats which harkens back to a Far Eastern inspired sail design preceding Western square sails. Opt for the new large sail cosmetic to imbibe your ship with a commanding battle galley aesthetic and make it stand out as the flagship of your fleet! New Creature: Sea Horse! The elegant Sea Horse can be found in the deepest trenches of the ocean. It has a calm demeanor unless provoked which will anger this aquatic species, resulting in a deadly attack. They have two known methods of poisoning their foes, it can either be through the form of a venomous bite in close quarters or a toxic substance shot from their snout at medium range. The poison is said to be quite potent with strong penetrative abilities that have been reported to even pierce through armor and golden age infused metals used to build vessels. While generally a solitary creature, it seeks out the assistance from its kin when in danger. A few daring adventurers have yearned to saddle this beautiful marine equine, however, due to its hostile nature when disturbed, it has been an impossible task. Single Player Mode We’re excited to say that we are currently working on a single player experience! This has been a common request from many of you and it is currently being prototyped by our team. We expect that we will have it ready to test on a beta branch in Mid July. This mode will be a true single-player mode; you won’t have to run a server in the background using up your precious memory! Every piece of content will be available, that includes the same massive world, with each and every island. With single player, there always comes the question for whether we plan to allow users to play in a listen/local server mode. This isn’t something we’re working on at the moment, and pending on how the single player works out, it may be something we consider in the future. ISO: Blackwood Prepare for a dark twist on the Equatorial biome with our standalone map, ISO: Blackwood coming Mid July! Explore the heart of the jungle or settle in rolling farmland. Silent eddies run before your boat as you make your way through the slick reeds of The Mire. Wade through thick green waters teeming with dangerous creatures, rare plant life, and the occasional Gorgon to find buried treasure and lost corpses. Approach the ancient serpent boss, Anacython, if you dare! Please note, this is not a map that will be supported on our Official Network, as it was designed to give players all the mechanics that ATLAS can offer hosted as a single server, without the use of a database. Live Game Patches Our patches can focus on various different things. They may be aimed to hotfix a bug introduced by new content, improve performance, resolving outstanding technical issues, and much more. This past week, the primary focus for our live updates was QOL improvements and balance changes. A lot of these changes were influenced by your suggestions and feedback, so keep it coming, Pathfinders! We understand you may feel something is too strong, too weak, or tedious - let us know, and we’ll do our best to improve the game experience. We truly appreciate all the support you’ve shown the game and will continue to work on improving it. v207.991 - Fixed bolas releasing creatures prior to their timer ticking down entirely. v207.99 - Fixed a bug which prevented tames and crew on ships from not having their claim timer refreshed on PvE. To refresh their timers, you will need to board the boats they're on. - Fixed a bug which would result in the XP Curse lasting permanently (retroactive) - Fixed a bug which prevented firing cannons which were placed on the top deck above gunports - Beds can only be used to spawn on after their initial respawn cooldown has cleared v207.981 - Inactive PvP boats will now automatically destroy after 4 weeks of inactivity - Enabled auto-destruction for decayed structures on Official Servers. - Sunken ships will always destroy after 5 days on Official Servers. This will clear the icon from your maps too, as long the area where the boats were sunk have been revisited. - Gunports can now be opened again without cannons (i.e you can now fish out of them again) - Fixed some invalid cannon placements / shooting edge cases. - Open gunports will obstruct firing from any cannons that are not explicitly linked to them, either by dismounting the shooter or blocking the projectile. - Fixed a Sail placement exploit. - New game.ini mode for Sunken Ships [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] DestroyDeadShipsIntervalTime=0 // Defaults to 0, meaning sunk ships would last forever and set to 2592000 for officials. v207.972 - Fixed an issue where NPCs on a Galleon's front NPCs would not replicate, due to the Captain being all the way in the back. This would have previously shown Missing NPCs, even if they were stationed. v207.971 - Updated localization for German, French, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Swedish. - Gunports will no longer open if they do not have a cannon snapped to it - Cannons using gunport-snaps now check for near-by freely-snapped cannons before snapping, in order to prevent multiple cannons shooting from one gunport. - Fixed the Global Ship Limit counting Sunken Ships v207.95 - Increase torpedo ammo weight to 12 - Increase the torpedo launcher weight to 240 - Reduced the weight bonus torpedo launcher receives from closed gunports to 20% - Bola CC duration reduced to 6 seconds on players - Bola release time now reduced to 0.5 seconds when removing it from a player - Torpedo crafting costs updated. Reduced by approximately 20% and updated metal to require 2 types of ingots. Mythos requirement unchanged. - Flame damage now eliminates ballista harpoons - Improved server performance on Golden Age grids as AoD enemies will only be networked to clients once they've awoken. - Ballista Harpoon reload time has increased - 2x Magic Mythos is now active with bonus rates for Harvesting, XP, Taming, and Gold. 207.93 - Mortar and Pestle slots increased to 40 - Soap Blueprint added to Cooking Pot and Grill - Large Storage Box slots increased to 100 - Small Storage Box slots increased to 40 - Sugars now stack to 500 (increased) - Thatch now stacks to 1000 (increased) - Grenade weight increased to 5 - Firegel, Gunpowder, Blasting powder, Mythos and Coral can now be stored in the ship resource box. - Reduced Grenade damage to players by 33%, to NPC Crew and Creatures by 10% - Increased Playershop health to 12000 - Reduced base damage of Blackjacks by 10% and reduced the Fall Swing damage by 65% - Doubled stamina cost of shield bash - Fire Elemental now takes 50% more damage from Shotguns and 100% more damage from Ballista - Fixed ""Fail" sound line for the medkit using male voiceline for female characters - Fixed being able to place wallhooks on demolishable resources to prevent floating structures - Fixed being able to place triangle foundations on top of beds - Player Name is now included in the tribe log when scuttling ships or demolishing it via a shipyard - Fixed a bug which allowed you to move whilst bola'd - You can now base on non-allied PvE boats, and we've added an actionwheel entry to force non-allied characters off of your ship in PvE 207.91 - Torpedo Damage reduced by 45% - Boats will no longer sink when overweighted or overcrewed if they are fully anchored (green anchor) - Settlement Mode: Claim Flags now appear on the World Map for the grid region you're currently on - Submarines docked on hangars now retain their colour after server restarts - Prevented firing from gunports if the gunport has not fully opened. This is to resolve crews being dismounted as they were blocked for firing too soon - Quest skills are blacked out with a silhouette when not learned - Cocoa can now be crafted properly in irrigated grills - Fixed FPV reload animation playing when switching from TPV to FPV with the Crossbow - Fixed an issue where servers that were running for more than 4 days consecutively without reboot would have choppy water on the client. v207.9 - Networking range for players on ships is now the same as players not on ships (~34,000 units) - Networking range for unseated NPCs on ships are now about 18,000 units, and seated NPCs are now about 9,000 units. - Fixed Crows no longer flying to attack. - Fixed Shipyards at max storage capacity (300) fail to create ships. - Fixed being unable to gain any stamina after sailing to another server with a stamina debuff active from using any feat, for example, "reload overdrive" feat on a ship. Previously you would have had the debuff permanently until you die and respawn v207.81 - Improved third person view offset so that it now positions at the average head height rather than the center of the character's capsule. This should improve how it feels when the camera is brushed up against a collision in the world. v207.8 - If a launched torpedo hits within the first 3.75 seconds of being fired, it will do significantly reduced damage - Torpedo overall damage reduced by 20% - Torpedo overall projectile lifespan reduced by 10% - Torpedo and Torpedo Launcher crafting cost has been increased - Fixed hotkey assignments to save on relog - Readjusted Marker UI location when minimap is open to prevent overlap - You can now use "prying eyes" to look inside lock chests if they are your own company's boxes - Cannons/Puckles will no longer fire in peacetime if the structure does not own the claim and the target is a player or tame - Significant shoreline data memory optimization Community Spotlight The Community Spotlight is a new series that introduces you to player-driven communities, projects and/or initiatives in the ATLAS community. Really need to a find a way so that settlers can use this system as it stand -Crew gold payment and food can now be done via your Company's claim flag. Crew that are on an island or on a fully anchored ship within Settlement range are eligible. Berries are the only food that can be used in the claim flag (there is a greatly extended spoil timer on berries in a claim flag for further QoL). Crew will still seek out payment and food from nearby food larders and payment boxes and if there are none nearby or they are empty, they will take from the claim flag. This is great but it doesn't help settlers in anyway as it is its so much more worth paying for an island upkeep than having to go tower to tower larder to larder just so your base can a have a chance at defending itself. This is a Huuge QOL change that i believe should affect everyone especially settlers since being a settler is about being a smaller company with less resources than everyone else. they should solve this problem soon because as it stand im much better off moving to my own island only problem with that is that i am a very small company and the base and harbor we have now took a really long time to build and i would like to continue living there. my 2 cents on this almost perfect patch update.

Sigh, I hope you read the humor in my statement. I think that came across fairly clearly but maybe not. I don’t condone censorship but not all types of speech are constructive. Yes, you can be critical and still constructive (even if you don’t own the game ). Seems silly that I even need to say this but you and I both know how negative this community can be despite our attempts to make it a little better. Now, hand over the troll food cause you’re gonna get them all frisky.

My thoughts... Give each placeable item a point value. Foundations 0 points. Ceiling, wall, doors, roofs, beds ect are 1 point. Smithy, loom, tannary, forge, resources box, are 5 points. Any structure or building that does not have 100 points as a 4 hour decay timer once the owner logs off. The points could be adjusted as needed. most player structures I've seen, even the crappy starting base are well over the 100 point. A 8x8, two walls high, flat ceiling with 2 doors and all the crafting stations and resource box would be over 150 points. This can be built in about an hour solo under 1x conditions. Boats would would not fall under this system. What are your thoughts? Have a better idea, please post it.

    A) You’re making a false equivalency argument by equating cheating to morality. Cheating is not inherently a question of morality as illustrated by the question of penalties in sports. You may not be a sports fan, but doubtless you are aware that sports exist and that they have rules and sometimes in the course of play players commit infractions. These infractions are not “wrong” in a moral sense any more than changing your gamma in a game that makes it an options setting is. B) You’re declaring things to be common sense from a moral perspective but even morality isn’t a matter of common sense but belief that is personal. Witness the legions of people who hold strongly differing moral beliefs on any number of issues like abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment or bbq sauce. If morality were merely a matter of common sense, then nearly everyone would agree on these things but they don’t. C) You are entirely free to believe that changing gamma in a game is cheating, or even that to do so is morally wrong. I would argue that your understanding of cheating vs unfair leaves something to be desired in this instance but that’s my own opinion. What you can’t do is enforce your belief on others and I can prove it. I’ve just changed the gamma in my settings. Ban me.

I have no idea who Lebron is.. nor care. Nor do I watch people bouncing a ball around.. unless I want to fall asleep. We all.. decide the rules. The trick is to try to limit the rules we make. I decide if I think you're cheating.. you don't need to prove you're not.. but if you feel you are not, you can argue your reasoning. In this case your argument is: The devs haven't said it isn't. Therefore, it is ok to use gamma. That does not equate to the devs saying it is or isn't okay. It doesn't matter if the rules say it is or isn't. It's called common sense. Something either is or isn't right or wrong. You don't need other people to tell you what is or isn't right or wrong. You know it yourself. Using gamma to bypass ingame environment to make life easier for yourself. Is Cheating. There is NO argument.
  11. 1 point
No one has asserted that it is, but what I am asserting is that if it is not specifically forbidden it is not cheating. The problem with what you are suggesting is the notion the players get to determine what is cheating. Sorry but I disagree. Lebron James does not get to alter or interpret the rules of basketball, nor does the NBA players association as a group.
  12. 1 point
How exactly have I insulted you? By not agreeing with you? Ignore all you want, but the basis of our disagreement is me asking you to cite the portion of the official rules which supports your position, you refusing to do so while talking in circles in a manner which ignores this simple central request to support your argument, and then declaring that the devs don’t get to define cheating in their own game, the players do. Okay. Whatever.

SYDHART..... I do NOT blame the broken flag system for everything wrong with the game.... I blame it for what is wrong with the claim system only.... broken claim system is pretty much ALL I complain about.... how would I fix it ?.... glad you asked..... First I would do away with lawless , make every island except Freeport’s the same.... Then I would give 5 to 10 claim flags per person..... If you are not within the radius of one of your flags you cannot build.... Areas of valuable resources are no build areas.... This is for PVE by the way...
  14. 1 point
@JatheishPotential solution/idea regarding that, rather than a claim flag dealing with the issue. Structures such as similar to a Tax bank, like for example a "Island Headquarters Building" that could perform the gold upkeep tasks for a single island, and an "Island Cantina" structure that can perform the food related tasks for the island, for the company that owns them. Each company on an island would have to have their own, and would elimate the flag issue.

So Salty, all you do is bitch about the claim system and blame it for every broken thing in the game. What's your solution then? Keep in mind that foundation spam was a problem in both systems. In my opinion, we need an upkeep system that goes beyond just paying gold for a settlement. Maybe an upkeep bank and can build within an area (sort of like old claim flag) and every piece of structure has an upkeep cost in materials. The materials would be the normal items used to craft the structure. So if you had an all wood base it would just be wood, thatch, and fiber. Bank would have a limit of 10 days that you could stock in the bank. If you let it run out then the structures become vulnerable and start to decay. This would solve the problem in lawless servers. In addition, instead of just having full PvP servers and full PvE servers, they should be combined. I've outlined my ideas before on PvP in regards to outposts in Lawless zones or Golden Age ruins (control points essentially) that could be battled over for control. Once you control it, you get access to special vendors you could purchase from (for skins, special treasure maps, etc) or NPC's that would give out special quests to discover an area, find something, or kill special mobs. Then these could be turned into a vendor at a Freeport. Also, the game needs some factions to help the PvP along. Have Freeports controlled by certain factions. You could have an Imperial Faction, a Merchants Faction, a Swashbucklers Faction, etc. If you perform an action that goes against another faction, that flags you for PvP. You hop on someone else's boat or go on someone's land that isn't your faction, you get flagged for PvP. You steal something from someone, flagged for PvP.

I think you'll find those options in the "options menu", the clue is in the name. I belive Grapeshot made that "options menu" so I think it's safe to say Grapeshot is giving you the option to change those settings.

It'll be a free map to host for unofficial servers.

Er what? You're actually arguing.. that because the game comes with the ability to change the gamma setting.. it isn't cheating to use that setting to bypass the ingame darkness/basic play mode? Seriously.. You might as well argue that running people over in a car is totally acceptable.. because people aren't supposed to walk on roads. And cars do come with engines and tyres.. so you can use them, to run them over.. because. Your monitor has a contrast/brightness setting, because different movies, videos, games some different settings and you can adjust the view to your liking.. but they aren't there so you can make nighttime into daytime because that makes your life easier. That is cheating. Simple as.

Sails First off, you shot yourselves in the foot by naming the sails with a descriptor and not just their name, by doing so you’ve limited yourselves to keeping them within that boundary, and naming future sails is going to be difficult. So, to start give the sails their proper names: Square rigged sails, Triangular Sails, Gaff rigged sails. Not only can you put whatever stats suit these sails, you can add new ones with differing or even similar stats. Second, for the love of god, change the angle of handling and weight sails to be correct. Seeing impossible wind physics on these for so long now reminds me every time I see them how little you’ve done for ships compared to other aspects of the game since release. Lastly give each sail a synergy bonus depending on which sails they are placed with and how many and on what ship. Don’t want to see 6 speed sail galleons, have a synergy boost on 2-4 sails, but a negative bonus on 5th and 6th sails as too many block the wind enough and reduce effectiveness. 2nd and 3rd weight sails reduce the speed penalty of cargo racks. The possibilities are multitude. You could also introduce stay sails (the triangular ones pointing forward) as a sail that boosts the synergy bonus of the mast it’s attached to. This could have so many differing sail combinations you would not only have what suits the ships role but also what suits the player sailing the ship.

It was changed in a past patch, the ghost ship no longer drops a powerstone, instead a 9th powerstone island was added in it's place.

To wrap this back around to the OP, from a "rules" perspective, it was not clear to me that using puckles, catapults, mortars, grapeshot, greek fire, explosive barrels, killpens, and murder holes on the undead was "against the rules" anymore than it would be in other multiplayer zombie games. It WAS clear that it was significantly more fun than bears and sticks. Even after the patch that broke everything, I am still not convinced that it was anything more than a very sad unintentional casualty of a hasty and overzealous exploit reaction.

you should not have to motivate yourself to play a game, the game should be motivating YOU to play. save yourself the grief, get in the dingy and row away from this sinking ship. They need a wipe with a whole new idea of how the game should be. my advice has always been make everything like lawless and scrap the claim system. oh yea and 5 man groups with 1 or no allies allowed. now that is what most people would want. btw I have been playing war/strategy games for over 40 years I started on Atari 2600 and I have over 1000 hrs in atlas.

On the one hand, there is part of me that wants to argue the exploration and gathering of materials from geographically diverse locations IS part of the content. On the other, too many of the islands are cookie cutter and the underlying systems which require the far flung mat gathering are too simplistic and optional (Cooking could be amazing but thus far can be bypassed with little downside). Certainly running around paying and feeding tames and crew members can hardly be regarded as quality content, so in the end I have to agree. They are producing *some* content, but not at a rate that gives the impression there will be a compelling amount of it a year and a half from now.
  32. 1 point
You are meant to spend hours on "meaningless" tasks. If keeps you from realizing that there is no content really to speak of. If you didn't have to make a celery run every two weeks, what else would you have to do?

My level 29 wild bear is now 82. It has 1200hp, 1100 stam and 140 melee which is enough for masterwork maps. I have a bred bear, but I save him for "special" occasions. My wild tamed bears get to go for rides across the Atlas.
  34. 1 point
Yeah great idea, block content for average players behind a tame you need a submarine to get. Because all the beach Bob's have access to submarines and have all power stones and killed the kraken. Of course, everyone do that in week one after they finish their huts, tame a crab to do a freaking mw map. Whats the next "mega downgrade" for the weekend? stone buildings are locked until you clear the ice dungeon. Or something like tier 2 tames do 0 damage to AoD. Maybe AoD only receive damage from "INSERT LATEST TAME HERE" that no one asked for.

Please refer me to the part of Terms of Service or Code of Conduct that could in any way reasonably be construed as defining buying another account for this purpose as cheating. If not, you've made a false assertion. Simple as that.
  36. 1 point
Ah yes... Typical move by Jat, Jeremy, Wildcard(Grapeshot) etc. It is a darn shame they nerfed something as benign as that, considering powerstone zones are hunted frequently for people doing the trench, taming on the island, doing powerstones or leveling up their boats. You might get really lucky and not get jumped and sunk. It's a pretty even risk/reward if you consider the time investment, nearly beaching themselves, and having to kite critters all day in the hopes a boat sailing by doesnt sink you They keep taking the sand out of the sandbox for no reason other than just because. Let's ignore the elephant in the room, people exploiting player levels to go beyond cap, duping, mega companies abusing the hell out of freeports to store assets, animals, etc. Rampant aimbotters, ships out there exploiting sails by have 6+ on a brig, etc. Instead gentleman, let's not focus on the real issues, but the superficial ones, like players utilizing perfectly respectable mechanics to level up a ship using creative methods that dont exploit or abuse any unintended mechanic, but instead using Anti-personnel and anti-animal weaponry exactly how they were intended to be used, to shoot those things. Lets focus on instead on banning people for being "toxic" with no real definition of what that is or means but handle it on an inconsistent case by case basis(this takes a lot of time, and is very inconsistent), instead of for duping, cheating, exploiting, and developing any way to detect, track or monitor actual illicit behavior, because they don't know how to do that either. Never mind how ship grappling brings giant ships traveling at high speeds to a sudden stop for *reasons*, never mind how in large fleet fights, you cannot effectively salvage any ship because for some reason a shipwreck spawns 2-3 sharks for no reason, and when you are having a concentrated fight and multiple ships sinking it's pretty easy to have 12+ sharks magically appear, Oh wait why doesnt you warship having a diving platform?(Uh because it's a warship, also I cannon bear'd that entire fleet in a walled off harbor, and didnt get any loot because there are a bazillion sharks in there now). How about Torpedos? Eh! EH? They're great eh! Great new content bound to boost our playerbase! You know HUGE COST and they uh.... travel slow and dont do any worth while damage for their cost/effectiveness. No one uses them. And there there is your amazing melee combat, First it was brass knuckles and your feat and you could knock hordes of people out in 1-2 power strikes, now it's the spear and a fully spec'd softspot and not only can you knock everyone and their mom off of anything theyre mounting, you can completely knocking them out in a solid 2 hits. Nerfing the ship guns/cannons vs. critters and nerfing respawning on newly placed beds are what the game needs... GG 2-3k and dropping peak players. "At least the game has 4k graphics" - Jeremy Stieglitz. #priorities, @Jatheish

Yes. As usual, GS didn't think their changes through properly. v207.996 - AoD are now immune to anything except gun (non-puckle) ,melee damage and tame damage. This change was made to stop people cheesing levels on their ships by putting swivel guns on and pulling up to a powerstone island beach. I would've thought that allocating the XP to the gunner instead of the ship would've been the smart way to do it, but no. Let's change mob immunities!
