  1. With zombies and army of the dead. no one would complain then about wolves and this game would instantly turn into a horror survival game.
  2. This isn't all of them. There are more not far away.
  3. this is amazing, we will need level 1000 tamed animals the way these devs do "balance" changes
  4. Pretty sure this isn't intended but 2 wolves just respawned inside of our base structure. One next to our building and the other inside of our house....
  5. After a few hours of trying to locate a shore base location to build my first boat (aside from raft). I managed to find a spot/claimed it and parked my raft near the shore with a bed. I died to a pack of wolves on the shore (level 27 -> 250). Every time I re spawn or even get another raft from the free port to reclaim the lost items, I keep on getting killed before I even reach the shore. Swimming in the water drops aggro, but the moment I step on the raft they start coming after me again. If the wolves were level 1-5 I can deal with it. But its constantly level 20 and or 250 in quantity's of 3-5 which one shot me through the bottom of my raft. Anyone has any way to drop aggro completely, avoid etc. To the point where I can start making some progress to get enough gear to vend for my self? Sounds like a rant, but its very frustrating as this is the first claimed shore area in almost 20hrs of game play for me at least.
  6. wolfs a re a fucking joke , no matter the lvl they do the same damage , they do the ridiculous knockback and take the same amount of arrows to kill , what is going on with them ?
  7. All Tames: (*all subject to having the correct tame commands found in beast mastery tree) - *Many listed below are if then or while statements that check variables and proceed according to what the code finds. - Ability to filter food from resources when tame gathers. - Example: If I send a wolf.. err wait don’t use those anymore *sniffle*… a lion out to gather meat I would like to be able to have it just gather meat, not resources (hide, keratinoid, etc) too. - Ability to limit weight of food gathered. - Example: If I send a tiger to defend around a building, I would like it to not be heavily encumbered because it has a crazy number of meat stacks and resources on it. Limiting it to say 50, 100, 200, etc lbs meat would be sufficient. - Ability to set a perimeter for a tame to walk in defense of area X. (sentry mode) - Example: very simple. Walks a set route to defend area X and if it gets into a fight it wont run 100 miles away from it’s route chasing a bird. Which leads me to the next ability. - Ability to set a leash limiter on range, preferable in meters not low, medium, high… that tame won’t go outside that range from its center marker (if a circle) or set route which can be any shape a player sets when creating the route. (see above). - Examples: A rhino walks a big circle around building or area X until called off. A bear walks a complex sequence around several buildings and resource areas before returning to its start point which has a feeder. It delays 10 mins to regen health before returning to its route. If health is >= 90% it doesn’t stop but keeps on running its route. This used the delay in the route (see below). - Ability to set a delay which connects to time or a variable when tame is running a route or in aggression mode. - Example: Stay in active aggression mode unless health is below (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, etc %), if health is below the set % than stop, regen health and return to aggression mode when health is well again. Example 2: This allows a delay to be added to whatever route points are set in the routing ability (sentry mode). Every point could have a 5, 10, 20, 30, etc second delay or no delay unless a preset variable is recognized like health low or weight too heavy. - Ability to flee or fight when in aggression mode according to variables (health %, weight %). - Example: I don’t want a tame to rush into a fight with low health. It needs to intelligently know its wounded and regen health or even return to a set spot until its health is back to normal. So like the above examples if in aggression mode or sentry mode if its health drops below 50% it doesn’t wait but instantly turns, exits fight and runs back to preset point (which tamers can set with the correct commands). Perhaps within range of a feeder and sentry guns that can help defend it until its healthy again. Once its health is good again it returns to its route. - Ability to call a tame back to base with a long-range whistle w/map help. - Example: sent tame to defend around base and can’t find it but this whistle will signal tame to return to base and, this is key, if the tame is stuck it will signal where on the map. - Ability to send a tame on a resource gathering route. Similar to sentry mode but gathering mode instead. - Example: I could send an elephant through 2, 3, 4+ different groves of trees and have it harvest them all and then return to point A. Or gather until it reaches weight X and then return and wait to be unloaded. - Ability to set aggression mode to predators or 2 neutral modes or all. - Example: aggression predator only will only attack wilds that are naturally hostile. - Example: aggression neutral 1 only will only attack wilds that are naturally neutral and flee from predators. - Example: aggression neutral 2 only will only attack wilds that are naturally neutral and fight predators if they attack first. - Id like to see a set of armor for mounts. Think Heman and his armored Tiger. - I’d like to see the breeding system completed by allowing the breeding of tigers, lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffs, etc. - I’d like to see the breeding system evolve into training babies when they are young for their future roles. - Example: farm animals, war mounts, sentries, etc. - I’d make the tames a part of the rng system with normal, fine, journeyman, mastery, legendary, mythic and you don’t know what ya have until the tame is done. Once tamed the tames name changes to its rarity and so does its bonus stats, abilities, etc. - Same as above with tames except with babies. Once they reach full maturity in that moment they change to their rarity (normal, fine, journeyman, mastery, legendary, mythic) with their respective bonuses and abilities. Higher rarity tiers get greater stats and more abilities. - I’d like to see tames get their mutations and or an ability list that differs from tames to tames (see below). - I’d like to see each animal type get their respective breeds: i.e Bears: brown, black, Grizzly, Polar, and have their slight variations in strengths & weaknesses that are also handed down to their cubs. Same for tigers, lions, horses (so many breeds and qualities to each), elephants, rhinos, etc - Like to see tames harvesting menu expanded upon. Example: fiber only, berries only, thatch only, wood only, stone only, metal only, etc. - I’d like to see a sprinkler system that cools down players, tames, etc that uses the current irrigation pipes and water reservoirs. Instead of water plants it showers players and/or tames with water and this produces a cooldown affect. - Like to see a cart that bears, bulls, horses, etc can pull that has a weight reduction because the cart with wheels is baring most of the weight. The weight reduction is directly proportional to the max weight of the animals pulling it AND the quality of the cart (blueprints). If a single tame than off its weight but if it’s a team pull than off the combined weight of both tames. - Add medium sized gates that are 2 tiles wide by 2 tiles high. - Add fortress grade walls that go with the small, medium (see above) and large gates. Bear Maul: vicious attack that bleeds. Body slam: knockdown target and pins to ground for 6 secs. Chicken Face gauge when provoked Cow Rear kick Bull A charge that does dmg and bleeds/knockback. Pro-puller: pulls weighted carts 15% faster than other mounts. 2nd bull with pro-puller would be 30% faster than other mounts. Crow Face gauge that blinds and bewilders target Razortooth Trample that knockdowns and breaks bones Assault: high dps burst from front Shieldhorn Shield mode that defends target A. Absorbs 50% of any damage target A takes. Trample that knockdowns and breaks bones Elephant Trample that knockdowns and breaks bones Tusk slam, breaks bones, sends flying Giant Pig Gore: similar to bear but no knockdown but does bleed and high dmg output. Giraffe Trample that knockdowns and breaks bones Neck thrust: sends flying with dmg. Horse Rear kick: breaks bones, sends flying, knocks down. Sprint: a burst very fast gallop. Lion Rack: high dmg from claws Roar that rallies nearby allies and temporarily boosts lions combat prowess. Monkey Taunts that distract target with monkey squeals and hoots that lowers def. Ostrich Bill peck: think street fighter Chung Li rapid kick except with its bill. Naturally a fast mount. Parrot Taunts with insults which lowers def. Face gauge: blurred vision/bewildered. Penguin Hugging a penguin gives you a 30 min heat res buff. Penguins provide aoe heat res naturally. The closer you are or a baby is the more res they get against heat. Rabbit When worn character is 5-10% faster on feet. Luck bonus to treasure Rhino Aimable Charge with high crit dmg from horn. Trample that knockdowns and breaks bones Seagull Widened fog of war and can send/receive long range low weight items. Weather warning Sheep Hugging a sheep gives you a 30 min cold res buff. Sheep provide aoe cold res naturally. The closer you are or a baby is the more res they get against cold. Tiger Rack: high dmg from claws Surprise Attack Pounce: knocks target down and bites for high dmg chance to crit. Vulture Face gauge that blinds and or bewilders. Short burst to see targets health. Wolf BUFF Health and dmg output. It’s a wolf they are supposed to be dangerous. Howl: Rallies nearby wolves to come to your aid temporarily. Random roll d20 + character level + wolf level to determine duration and to decide who wins aid if multi wolf howls are heard. Several min cooldown. If wolf A howls and obtains aid than wolf B can howl for a chance to break aid. Making the previously aided wolfs now hostile. If wolf Bs roll + character level + wolf level is high enough it not only breaks aid but turns those wolves to aid wolf Bs team. Howl range is based off wolf level. Bite: high dmg chance to crit Pounce: similar to tiger but no surprise crit dmg but does knock down target with a bite to follow. Owl – provides night vision & mild stealth at night. Eagle – able to scout area. Think assassins creed origin and greater zoom with rifle. Goose – chance to lay golden egg. Panther – naturally stealthy w/ a stealth bonus, fast attacks, pounce, claw rack Saber-tooth – cold res when mounted, high dmg bite with high chance to crit, pounce, only found in tundra. Lynx - quiet like a wolf, superior agility, fast attacks, Thank you. Cheers! DC

    Patch Notes

released patch notes v24.4 - Reverted optimization to how Seating Structures are replicated, caused some issues. v24.3 - Fixed invisible tamed creature case, and optimized some networking related to creatures on ships. - Optimized how ladders network their extended/retracted states. - Attempted an optimization to how Seating Structures are replicated (Steering Wheels etc) v24 - Further fix for case where steering wheel usage became desynchronized. v23 - Major client and server optimization for ships - Fixed remaining case of Client Disconnections (Not necessary to adjust Client Bandwidth, this was related to something else. We recommend all players try to use EPIC Bandwidth!) - Various new server performance optimizations - Sail Canvas is now unaffected by Repair Hammer - AoD soldiers now take significantly less damage from bullets. v22.21 Fixed a bug where tamed creatures, boats, and NPC Crew stats didn't replicate properly. v22.1 - Fixed a case where players would disconnect on certain servers when loading into large bases. We advise setting your "Client Network Bandwidth" Option value back to Epic if you had previously changed it, to deal with the disconnections. - Fixed a case which would cause creatures to flash or flicker. - Fixed a case where players on saddled creatures would teleport back to the server's origin if the creature they were mounted on had been killed by another creature. - Sail canvas now takes twice as long to repair. Repair hammer can no longer be used to repair a canvas. A canvas must be repaired using the pinwheel option on the mast, which can be accessed by holding down E. - Target Soft Spots will no longer add torpor to other player teams in PvE. - Camera no longer interpolates to origin when destroyed. - Glider will no longer activate when encumbered. - Buoy signs remain attached after server restart (retroactive). - Server and client performance optimizations. - Fixed an exploit which allowed players to stall and potentially disconnect other clients. - No longer able to turn off cannons that do not belong to your team. v21.43 - Fixed some server side crashes and added additional server performance optimizations for NPC Crew v21.1 (client) - Fixed choppy claim flag physics 21.42 - Further optimizations to NPC crew 21.41 - Optimized replication and ticking of NPC crew on turrets, for significantly improved server performance. v21.31 - Improved Structure replication rate from servers, though this may increase client stalls slightly. Clients can reduce their "Client Network Bandwidth" Option value if they are experiencing too many stalls with this change (we do recommend the default, 60 KB/s). v21 - Optimized how items are networked resulting in significantly higher performance and less bandwidth usage - Added the Hook Hand and the Peg Leg to the Freeport cosmetic vendor v20.1 With our planned changes for March, the game will be heading into a more rule based system, so for the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes to experience what it would be like if we took an alternative route. We’ll be releasing an update tomorrow which includes the following changes: - 6x Rates - Harvesting, Taming, Experience, Gold, Farming, and Breeding. - Claim flags will no longer prevent enemy building. You can now build anywhere, and only structure build radius will prevent it. This does not apply to cannons and mortars, which will still require a claim flag. This is a non-default, which will be enabled on our PvP Networks. Unofficials can also use this as a custom server-side config. - All servers, other than Golden Age Ruin servers, can be set to home servers, allowing players to respawn at them. (PvP only) Game.ini: [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] bDontRequireClaimFlagsForBuilding=1 bIsLawlessHomeServer=1 bForceRequireClaimFlagsForBuildingCannons=true This is what we’re enabling on all our non-Golden Age ruin servers, but please note that you must also flag the corresponding grids as homeservers on the servergrid.json This patch will also include: - Whispering voice hotkey [* [numpad] key] - Server side config that allows you to alter the distance for the 3 voice modes: Whispering, Normal, and Yelling. Game.ini: [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] ProximityRadius = 8500 YellingRadius = 22000 WhisperRadius = 2000 - Removing the Destruction Mesh on Lighthouses - Increased the limit of folders in inventories from 20 to 40, and 80 in Bookshelves - Treasure Map names now includes the grid for easy filtering - Explosive Barrels can no longer be used as an ammo type for cannons. Any loaded ones will just fire regular cannons. They'll be receiving a large redesign in the major update coming in March. - Fixed chat scrolling, so it now works again with Page Up and Page Down - Fixed an edge case where voice chat would stop working unless the client relogged These changes will allow us to see how the game would pan out if we didn’t have the claim system affect build rules, which helps us collect more feedback on playstyles. v19.62 - New style Claim Flag with improved flag physics - Improved mini map X icon for visibility - Added chat tabs - Reorganized claim flag notifications (requires updated server) v19.52 - Fixed multiple cases where inpulses would be stacked causing players or creatures to be launched into the distance. v19.51 - Disabled the use of some client side console commands which could be used to gain an unfair advantage in PvP v19.5 - Army of the Damned Soldiers and Crew melee attacks now properly hit. - Fixed an issue with servers that could have stalled them out for significant periods of time (5+ seconds) - Improved general server performance v19.4 - Further optimized server performance - Fixed issue where Buffs were not being added (drinks and such) if you were on a seating structure, or if you were encumbered. v19.3 - Significantly improved server performance when unstasising structures (50%+). - Fixed the bug where picking up stat'ed Structures would eliminate quantity of existing structures in your inventory. - Fixed a case where server-side Spoiling Times were incorrect on preserving bins. - Whale corpses now last 30 minutes - Giraffe harvesting now yields 6x thatch v19.21 - Doubled maximum server physx substeps to maintain more consistent ship movement at low server framerates. v19.2 - 2x Harvesting, XP, Taming and Gold enabled on the Official Network until Monday 25th. - Bookshelf added to organize your maps, blueprints, notes, and songs. You can learn it from the Esotery of Building skill. - Signs/Canvases can now be placed on storage boxes and bookshelves to help indicate what they're used for. - Note added to the game to leave each other messages. You can learn it from the Secrets of Building skill. - Company UI now displays last online time for members - Significant server optimizations (company network data is now replicated more efficiently to clients) - Maximum ship level is now 52. v18.97 - Fixed Melee damage application to Army of the Damned - Fixed NPC crew disappearing for a fraction of a second when mounting on cannons - Prevented climbing of the Kraken barrier wall - Improved Cyclops movement to allow it to clamber over rocks better v18.95 - Optimized server spatial octree, which should result in better server performance and reduced stalls. v18.94 - Fixed an issue with NPC's not interacting when stationed. v18.92 - Canvases are now free-paintable - Improved the appearance of storm cyclones vfx v18.9 - Fixed an issue with babies not eating from inventory/troughs when in stasis. - Fixed a bug with Alpha creatures. v18.89 - Fixed an issue with the unstasis/render distance on ships - Optimized performance of various server subsystems. v18.87 - Optimized performance of various server subsystems. v18.84 Weight - Gold coins have had their weight reduced by 50% - The weight of all items have been reduced by 30% globally (does not apply to structures that are placed on boats, only items in inventories) - Weight Sails now provide 20% more bonus weight. - Diving Suit now provides a buff which gives players a 50% extra base weight when diving underwater - Water Barrel now has a base weight of 75. It can hold 6000 water (previously was 500). For every 1000 water, it will add 20 weight. To grab someone's ID for the inclusion/exclusion list, you'll need to look at a structure they've placed which will list their Company ID; this number can be input into the flag's list system to prevent/enable building. Please note that exclusion/inclusion lists are not saved when altering building permissions, so switching from 'Everyone' can build to 'Company & Alliances' only will clear your list should you wish to return to 'Everyone' can build. - All claim flags will use the 'Everyone can build' as a default setting when placed, and this will also be a retroactive change. However, it will not function until Thursday the 10th of January, where we will release another server update to make this setting active. To always have the latest number, you can relog or re-enter stasis range of the Claim Flag. general changes - Server performance improvements - All Cannons/Turrets can now be pin code protected for lever activation/deactivation - There are 4x as many trade ships on the seas, and they now also sell commodity types for gold, as do NPC's at Freeports. - Lawless servers can no longer be specified as Homesevers. 9. I know most people will say Bear is the best, and I do agreed that Bear are amazing animal to use in this game, very versatile, good with weight, can tank with most attack, good attack on its own as well, but I want to tame some cool attack animal but not Razor. Tiger vs Lion vs Wolf I know that Wolf is only a tier 2 animal to tame, but is it worth it to tame it? I mean I love wolf looking more than tiger and lion Some people say Tiger are good in PvE and Lion are good in PvP, because tiger have special effect of bleeding effect to attack creature and Lion have the special effect of taking people off its mount, but Lion special effect does not work in PvE, because you cannot attack other players, Tiger will be the one to go to Personally, I would love to have 3-4 wolf follow me around, because they are only tier and take less time to tame than tiger and lion, but is it worth it of taming 3-4 wolf to 1 or 2 tiger?
  10. After spending a fair bit of time prepping to tame a wolf and actually taming one (A level 2), I decided to take it out to do some leveling. Here are the issues : 1) No shared XP between wolf and rider, wolf got all of it. 2) Once levelled, put 2 points in HP which increased it for a total of 12 (Kinda small don't you think? If you got 20 levels that would total 120hp, which isn't even half the wolfs health). 3) The real kicker, Once my wolf got those 2 levels, it hit level capacity, and wouldn't level any more. 2.... levels... 4) While i was mulling this over, and killing things with my wolf, 2 alphas spawned in the same area while the wolf was out of stamina, and one killed the wolf. Sad but let's be honest, he wasn't the greatest... But when I went to grab the saddle, there was no corpse, or loot bag. The wolf and everything it had on it had vanished upon death..
  11. OK, I tried to be nice the last time....once again, what makes wolves follow other wolves does not work for humans. A wolf follows the other wolf because that wolf showed that it is the strongest. Humans do not dominate a wolf to gain it's loyalty. They earn it's trust by showing the wolf first, that they are not a threat to the wolf. Second, they show the wolf that there is a benefit to being friends, usually by giving it food. For a wild animal, food is life. As to the elephant, look at the picture again. When the elephant fell between the two pillars, its head is not to the side. It is vertical. You can see it's mouth plain as day dumb dumb. Or can you not see that? I'm actually much closer to its mouth there, than where I fed it the one time from.
  12. Good evening! Does your company sell wolfs, i am looking for a high level female one that can breed with my wolf. after breeding with 30 wolfs i only managed to get to level 48. I have one left with Stamina on 420, but whatever i do, i can't get it over on my wolf. so if you have a wolf that is complementary to my wolf, i would like to buy it. here are the stats on my wolf. Thanks for the help!!
  13. Something I thought about today is how easy it should be to add some variety to the already existing creatures in the game. There are many animals that could have a much broader diversity than they have in-game. Just doing some recolourings and reskinning, and adding stats for these new subspecies would go a long way to give the world more life. As an easy example: Take the bear. You could easily have 3 different species with differering stats. Black bear being the smallest, following by the brown bear and lastly the Polar bear only being available in arctic environments. You could do the same with the wolf. Have Black wolf, Grey wolf and an Arctic wolf. And maybe a Dire wolf that's even bigger than any of the others. You can add mammoths to the arctic regions as well as wooly rhinos - you already got the normal versions. And why not add a frost variety of the drake?
  14. Once again, how does a wolf pack follow one wolf? By dominating all other wolfs.. as soon as that wolf falls apart, hi will be removed from the throne.. so yeah, thats how nature does it I would say knowlage of ppl complaining is absurd. And yeah, behind a head of the wolf is same in size right? you can reach a mouth of an elephant just as easy as a wolf when standing behind his head I see no point in bumping this thread anymore since i stand my point, happy taming
  15. Its really not hard to balance animals! But these dev's seem to make everything hard! lvl 1 Player 100 HP lvl 50 player 200HP lvl 100 player 300HP Lvl 1 Lion / Wolf 100HP Lvl 50 Lion Wolf 200HP lvl 100 Lion wolf 300HP lvl 150 lion wolf 400 hp lvl 200 lion wolf 500 HP (No Tamed animal ever can go past lvl 200) (^^^^ And No Feral Animal can go past lvl 100 With an alpha being a lvl 90-100) Then adjust HP slightly according to animal for instance a bear could start at 120HP Giraffe 120HP Croc 120HP An elephant at say 150HP And now you have fixed all kinds of issues! Tames are No longer OP in pvp... You can now more easily balance Gunpowder weapons because they will have similiar effect vrs players and animals!!!
  16. It's random on spawn, so it can happen. Our Island is mostly pigs, parrots and giraffes most of the time, with the occasional wolf. Sometimes a wolf spawns, kills a pig and another wolf takes the dead pig's place. Now there are two wolves that won't fight each other and they decimate the other pigs. Rarely, the dead pigs are replaced by yet more wolves and the place becomes a horror show until we do a wolf cull. Mostly the wolf takes on a giraffe before it all gets out of hand, and regrets it's life choices.
  17. Problems with wolves: Hyper-Aggro: (This one is weird) Half the time they spot you from a mile away and come after you, ignoring anything else in the way that would be considered 'prey'. The other half they aggro and then run away...at light speed. I'm currently sitting in my house with some 212 Alpha Wolf outside just chomping nonstop at the wall...doing no damage but still annoying and really kind of a 'wtf?' moment. Damage: In full fur I normally have no issue killing a wolf or two with a metal pike. In hide it can be a different story, but it isn't impossible. The problem is wolves attack WAY too fast and with an obvious lack of regard to any kind of stamina system. Couple this with the (Fucking ark 2.0) knockback and it is just a complete pain to deal with. AI: I'm assuming some kind of code was added to attempt making all animals try to avoid being stuck when attempting to path to you. This causes some hilarity but is also making dealing with these alpha predators an absolute pain. The Alpha Wolf outside my house (this is the 3rd different one in less than an hour btw) likes to stand there chomping at the house even though he can't damage stone. As soon as I pop an arrow into it, he runs away for a moment, just to come back and start all over again. Eventually he will get stuck somewhere and not care about being shot but either way, it's just not well designed. Regen: Ok this HAS to be a bug. I get some of these wolves to like half hp, they run off and eat a cow real fast, come back at 100% hp and all of this happens in the span of 10 seconds or so. My suggestions? For now, for us, blunderbuss every wolf you see. If you cant get your hands on this delicious hand cannon, then try your best to kite them to water and yeet on them as they swim around like idiots. For the devs: Lower wolf movement by about 10% and attack speed by 20-25%. (This can actually go to lions too, but thankfully they are insanely broken and easy to kill.) Lower or remove hp regen from eating by about 90%. I don't regen all of my health in two seconds from eating an entire cow...in fact I die. Remove the affinity of these predators to attack structures. For me in stone it is just a nuisance, but for others there needs to be someway to get yourself safe from these things. I couldn't imagine how tilted I would be if I was building in wood and these things were just eating through the walls. I know we don't want the game to be 'ez-mode' but a few tweaks to these predators would make the land game a bit more enjoyable while still presenting a challenge. Just my 2gc.
  18. , yes there are aggressive wildlife noone is saying there isnt ,but not anywhere near what it used to be , it's a snooze fest when out exploring and farming , there is nothing to be wary of ,not a single island ive been to since they nerfed it like they did has been in any shape or form dangerous , havnt been even close to death from wild life since the nerf ,so yes it is a global issue alphas don't seem to be the issue the issue is the amount of wildlife as in wolf's / crocs / cobras / lions / tigers / not the giraffes , rhinos, birds etc , i am now thinking that the non aggressive wildlife out numbers the aggressive now and the issue is that the non aggressive wildlife is killing the aggressive wildlife ,giving them n o chance to actually populate properly now due the reduction in their spawns anyway ..i have seen wolfs spawn attack a giraffe kill it then go to the next one kills it , then on its third giraffe gets killed due to low life , so another wolf is killed but the system then respawns more giraffes and a solo wolf then the pattern repeats again , as its only 1 wolf it gets killed quickly well before the next animal spawn cycle might explain why there are a lot less aggressive wildlife . not enough are being spawned to keep the balance between agressive and non agressive there is no danger anywhere now , not on sea , not on land nothing ,
  19. Bear - It’s clear that the bear is the popular choice for best all-around tame. I think that the bear’s combat ability is where other offensive tames should be. In addition to all that strength and health..and stamina..and carry weight, which makes sense because it’s a bear, their strongest attack also has a conic radius and they are unmatched at gathering underbrush resources; and their bite or swipe gives you the ability to gather meat or hide at various rates. They can run fairly quickly at top speed, but easily bump into things and lose their momentum. Their biggest negatives are that they can’t jump and are not very nimble, so backing up or making sharp turns can be slightly difficult; but their swipe is conic so that’s usually not a problem in combat. Most people are pretty happy with the bear and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I think it really shines because it doesn’t have much competition; by that I mean that most other tames feel fairly useless in general. I can only think of two reasonable things to change about the bear without painfully nerfing its stats. Make it T3 and lower its attack speed. Attack speed is the huge thing here. It would lower its ability to both attack in combat and gather at a high rate without making it too weak at anything it’s currently good at. Chicken - It gives you eggs. Not worth breeding. Cow - It gives you milk. Not worth breeding. If anything, add the ability to ride it without a saddle like the pig simply for a quality of life improvement. Bull - Please enable the use of cargo saddles for bulls. Increased carry weight and possibly buff damage. I would really like the bull to be useful for something. I think it would be great to give it the ability to gather materials that currently do not seem to be gathered at increased rates by any other tames, such as tree fibers like bamboo and silk as well as secondary resources from trees such as cocoa and limes. Crow - It buffs intelligence at a decent value. Definitely the most useful shoulder pet. It’s not the Crow’s fault that intelligence rolls blueprint bonuses on a percentile and simply increases your maximum while doing nothing about the minimum, still letting you roll a natural 1, so that almost no one bothers to put their stat points into it when they could use those points for something more concrete. Or that it’s only semi-useful when crafting special blueprints and absolutely nothing else like gathering rates or something. Please increase the spoil timers on worms because birds are hard enough to tame already. Razortooth - I’ve heard it’s a picky eater so I really haven’t tried to tame one yet. But I’d definitely be upset if something I traveled so far into the most dangerous territory in the game for and worked so hard to tame died because it’s squishy. It’s not even in a tier, so it should be that strong and scary. Shieldhorn - I heard it stops bullets which is pretty cool. I see a lot of people saying to buff its stamina so I’m going to assume it needs that. Again, it’s difficult to get to and tame so it should be better than T3. Definitely seems like the tank tame so I’m hoping it has very high health. Elephant - Elephants are great. They gather wood and can kind of stomp on things. I love the carry weight buffs. But I think it needs a couple changes to really shine. Something so big and heavy shouldn’t get stuck on snakes and and puppies. If it’s possible, adding some sort of collision change that lets you push creatures out of the way or walk over them more effectively would be fantastic. Please remove the collision from their tusks though because they get stuck on literally everything and you can barely even walk around them. Giant Pig - Everybody poops. You can ride it. But you can’t make it poop while riding it. I tried. Giraffe - I love the recent changes to weight and thatch gathering. Exactly what this tame needed. Horse - They’re very fast and can carry a decent amount of weight, as well as gather seeds and some berries and vegetables if you need them. Useful for exploring new places and traveling in general. They are so ridiculously annoying to catch though. Taming them is easy, if you can catch them. Basically, you either make a trap and hope one decides to fall in or you chase it down with another tame and somehow trap them between a rock and a hard place and hope they don’t get free in-between bolas. That’s if they don’t run into the ocean and swim around in circles until a shark eats them first. Please lower their movement speed, preferably only while wild if that’s possible, or make them semi-aggressive so they only run away at a certain health threshold. Lion - Good at killing things, but they should be stronger than bears. Please buff their carry weight and stamina so they can be a little more useful for other things as well. I’d like it if they didn’t sound like rubbing sandpaper while running around too. Monkey - Health regeneration is cool, though it’s not much so I think this should be increased. Making their buff more noticeable would make them more desirable for map hunts and Golden Age Ruins runs. They throw poop at things too, but that’s about as useful as a ball of poop. The Monkey is small, but it’s quite nimble and reflexive so I think it could use a little more health for survivability. Ostrich - The ostrich is one of my favorites because I love the temperature regulation buffs. It is by far the most annoying tame to be around though, so please lower the interval at which it makes that horrible vocal noise. It’s smaller than a horse so it can’t carry as much weight, but it also seems to have lower health which makes the horse a more desirable choice for a travel mount in any biome but the desert; or maybe a heat wave in the tropics. The hyperthermic regulation is great, though obviously only useful in warmer climates so it’s very situational. I think that it needs a slight buff to compete with the horse, either movement speed or jump strength to make up for the difference in health and carrying capacity. Parrot - By far my favorite avian. The available color schemes for this tame makes it kind of fun to seek out. I love the fortitude buff, but it’s such a small amount that it’s hardly worth the effort. Taming any of the avians can be fairly challenging, and they all have very low health values so they can die easily if anything goes wrong. I think the fortitude value should be greatly increased, by at least 4-5x. Currently a decent level parrot doesn’t even provide you with a third of what you get just from balancing your vitamins, and even the vitamin buff doesn’t make a huge difference honestly. Bird tames aren’t designed to fight or gather, their only value lies in that buff they provide when on your shoulder. Currently not worth the effort to tame or take with you on your travels, especially when zone changes cause shoulder-mounted pets to get lost in transition and tames in general fall off or clip through boats so easily. Not even worth the crew slot it takes to bring them with you. Penguin - Adorable and cuddly. They help keep you warm in the coldest of climates but restrict your actions while doing so. They’re slow, weak and only eat fish which makes them extremely high maintenance. Currently not worth the effort for any tamer or breeder unless you’re simply trying to stay alive in your own home during a polar cold snap. But even then, you might as well just save the ironwood in your grills, give in and wait until it’s over. You already have to travel to the most dangerous waters outside of Golden Age Ruins just to get to the polar biome where penguins live, through high level ships of the damned and aggressive whales waiting to destroy half your planks with a single tail sweep, to the harshest biome of the game with dozens of the most dangerous non-mythic creatures around every corner, waiting to punch you in the face. Their buff should be applied in a small radius with a proper icon, specifically for tamers willing to handle the nightmare of breeding and are wishing to raise baby animals. Penguins should be able to eat regular meat too. For our sanity, please. Rabbit - Cute, squishy, I guess they warn me of danger. Kind of useless. They should provide a movement speed buff that scales with level. Rhino - Rocks are heavy, metal is heavier. The rhino needs more carry weight than the elephant honestly, especially since the elephant handles easier for some reason. Currently only useful for destroying player structures on PvP, but even then it would probably just get shot. Seagull - Definitely the most useless tame so far. Why an animal that can’t breathe underwater provides you with a buff to oxygen and swim speed, I don’t know. Maybe so I can swim one second faster to the shore from an anchoring point 20 meters away, or I could just use a dinghy if it’s really cold or something. And it only eats fish? No way am I going fishing every day just for that. Making it so aggressive creatures won’t go after PCs in a diving suit has made it somewhat viable. But please, if it can’t breathe underwater, at least give it so much oxygen that it won’t need to; without having to waste all its stat points by putting them into oxygen. I’d rather put them into food so I won’t have to fish as much to feed this thing. Seagulls basically eat anything in real life, so I don’t really understand the fish-only thing. Please buff oxygen and let it eat regular meat if not berries and vegetables as well. Sheep - It gives you fleece, so that’s cool. Or I could just ride my bear around and kill all the sheep to get even more fleece. More fleece is always good. Tiger - The tiger is my favorite tame overall. Not because it’s great, I just like large cats. The bleed attack is amazing and actually makes it viable to take on stronger enemies, albeit in a sort of kamikaze way since elementals and most other mythics pretty much decimate anything in their path. Needs a stamina and carry weight buff, like the lion, for a quality of life improvement. It should also, like the lion, do more damage than a bear without relying on the bleed; especially since it has significantly lower health, is designed solely for combat and not to gather much of anything at all. Not sounding like wet leather while running would be a very appealing change as well. Vulture - For such a biome-specific and annoying creature to tame, I was disappointed to find out that vultures do absolutely nothing at all. If you attack one, all of the vultures in the area aggro to you; as if trying to tame avians wasn’t difficult enough. They only eat rotten meat, which is kind of silly. I get it, they’re vultures. But why would they only eat rotten meat and not regular meat? Do they sit around and wait for a corpse to decompose into filth before coming at it like flying piranhas? No, they dive right down and eat anything and everything in their way. They desperately need something to make them desirable to players. All of the birds are completely useless in combat, even the vulture. Buffing its health and damage to make it at least usable as an attack pet would be a good start. It’s bigger, tougher and more aggressive than any of the other avians but their stats don’t reflect that at all. Still, a vulture could never kill a wolf one-on-one, and I wouldn’t expect them to be able to. But being able to provide support damage and possibly buffing their carry weight and hide or keratinoid gathering rate could make them somewhat useful to bring along. Even if you added all that, I still think it would need some sort of player buff while shoulder-mounted to really make anyone want one. What buff exactly though, I’m not sure. Perhaps a melee damage buff that scales with level to make for a great partnership. Wolf - Lastly, and certainly least, the wolf. It was my second favorite, right after the tiger. That was until I found out there was no pack buff, then their health and damage got nerfed so significantly that they became only just slightly more dangerous than a dog with a chew toy. They’re about as useful as a warm blanket. They keep you warm, but they have such low stamina that you can’t run anywhere with them, such low damage that they can’t properly defend themselves and such low health that they die quite quickly after you find out that they can neither run away from nor fight anything even remotely dangerous because all of their stats are so poor. You can’t carry anything while riding them and they don’t even get a secondary attack. Just some howl that you think might actually do something but it does nothing at all. With Nature’s Roar, my wolf was still doing less damage than my bear’s normal attack. I get it, wolves were scary at first and a lot of people probably cried about it because they’re aggressive and are in many more biomes than other aggressive animals, and they can chase you down unlike the rattlesnakes, cobras and crocodiles that you can just run away from. Lowering their aggro range was a good idea, but lowering their damage and health made them completely useless as a tame. They weren’t even all that useful before. Keep their health the way it is, that’s fine. But buff their damage back to something reasonable and give them significantly more stamina. Add a bit more carry weight, at least enough so that they can carry some hide and give them 2x rates for hide and keratinoid. This will make them desirable and useful for travel and hunting across all biomes, but not too dangerous in the wild. Turning their howl into a timed pack buff that scales with the number of your own wolves in range would also be a welcome addition. Some additional notes, please fix the things like….tames falling through floors, falling off boats, flying off into the sky, getting lost in the abyss during zone transitions, floating or clipping after anchoring, falling through the back of the boat when porting between decks, wild animals spawning inside player structures and attacking all our tames. Thank you. Also please add saddle blueprints that are better than regular saddles. War saddles would be really cool too, like they weigh a ton but provide much more armor than a regular saddle. Nerf fire elementals. If you’ve read all this, thank you for your time.
  20. Docile Animals overall have docile animals that are there mostly for providing food easier breed while tamed. Chicken Breeding/ egg laying: Have structures for chicken to breed and lay eggs into, if a box is present the chicken try to lay there eggs into the boxes and depending on the type of box either breed fertilized eggs or lay them into a storage box: Breeding Box for chicken to breed eggs raise and feed children (as long a filled feeding trough is available), if a box is nearby they automatically try to inhabit it to raise the children. (usage culling for meat and eggs) Egg Box for chicken to lay there eggs into and collect it automatically into its inventory Rabbit generally the same as for chicken: Breeding: Breeding Box to automatically raise and feed children as long as a feeding through is filled with vegetables, when gestating rabbids are near a breading box they try to inhabit it to raise there children automatically (usage: culling for meat) Cow Breeding: breeding stable to put in gestating cows in where it will raise the calfes on their own. cows have to be put in the stable manually Sheep Breeding: breeding stable to put in gestating sheep to raise children on their own. again for meat and wool to gather Wild Animals Bear Nerf Stick: Bears at the moment feel too strong and versatile, they are good combat mounts, gatherer are pretty fast and carry a lot Reduce the top speed to be below a wolf/lion/tiger but still faster or equal to than a human players Behaviour: Terretorial behaviour: make bears behaviour more defensive against players, so when a player comes within maybe half the aggro range the bear grunts and stands on two legs allerting the player that he is in potential danger, and attack the players either when they move in closer after the warning or attacks the bear. Wolf Buff Stick: I dont want to see the wolves back to their "former glory" but i think at the moment they are a bit to weak: Wolf Pack passive: when wolves are in a pack of at least 3 or more they all get a defensive bonus and take less damage. so attacking a pack is more dangerous Behaviour: Terretorial behaviour: Similar to the Bear behaviour: defensive against players, so when a player comes within maybe half the aggro range the wolves howl and grnarl allerting the player that he is in potential danger, and attack the players either when they move in closer by a considrable ammount after the warning or attacks the one wolf nearby. Aggresive againts docile animal: the wolves attack pigs, horses, cows and smaller pray (chicken, rabbids, etc.) with the normal aggro range Giant Pig Behaviour: Terretorial behaviour: Pigs to have a verry small warning range meaning you need to get really close before they start grunting and turning towards and have a chance to run away. Lions Buff Stick: Lions are not very good player mounts at the moment for my taste they can't carry enought to compensate for their speed and the tier 3 requirement always makes me feel like its not worth it and id rather take out a bear for every part i would take out a lion Add grapple skill for tamed lions to pin down small and medium creatures increase weight to mach the average of human carry weight cap maybe reduce requirement for tier 3 riding to tier 2 equal to wolves and bears Elephant: Only thing to say for the elephant is: Gates that are just high and broad enough to fit a elephant

  22. Haven't had chance to read through everything but I think it'd be cool if you can add something to the bottom of Beast Mastery skill tree that lets you share a skill with the tame on your shoulder. Like Crow can refresh your skills instantly or make you respec. As everyone mentioned the seagull can either fish or warn about weather conditions. Monkey can be sent to fetch "lost" or glitched out tames if you nearby them. I also think it would be nice to have formations for tames be it NPC Crew or Rhino's/Bears/Tigers etc. to be able to go out and adventure with a herd/pack of animals that defend you or gather what ever you are gathering. (If I have 3 Rhino's for example, Ride one and have 2 following the one I ride they mimic what ever it does with in limits)(Or if I'm on a wolf and tamed a pack they all attack incoming threats) formation example below: (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (You) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) (Tame) Tier of animal should also matter more like a lvl 4 wolf shouldn't hold a candle to a lvl 4 tiger/lion. Which also covers the fact that a wolf tame dies to a sheep 2 lvls higher than it. (My wolf with a company member - Wasn't there but the message stung hard) Lastly I saw this mentioned but an armour slot for some tames... I don't want a monkey in plate armour but a horse? Yes please! Please please please have a perch for shoulder animals for when you log out that can also be placed on a ship... This might also help "cement" where the creature is when you log off so the don't go missing Thanks for an Awsome game and keep up the good work. Many hours of fun has been had!

Whilst the team have begun working on the content changes, we’ve still had a lot done over the past week in terms of updates, with more on the horizon too! In regards to balance, we gave wolves a thorough overhaul, as well as tweaks to both the Wild and Tamed Dragon plus the Kraken is now easier to defeat after having it’s health sliced and more rewarding, with a brand new passive skill that reduces all Feat cooldowns by 33%! Additionally, this patch also introduced phase one of our aging process and the Fountain of Youth. Characters aged 90 years and higher will receive a specialist quest which encourages them to visit the Fountain of Youth to reset their characters age back to 20, remove an age debuff, and receive a rejuvenated buff which is a significant permanent statistic boost. The past week has also included a number of other bug fixes and balance changes as we continue to iterate on and fine tune the live game. You can check out the full list of changes here: current v15.35 - Fixed an issue with Wild and Tamed Dragon scaling which would have cause it to have incorrect stats. - Rebalanced base weights for tamed creatures (increase) v15.33 - Fixed an issue where clients would not correctly see the Rejuvenate buff - Fixed an issue where players could not tame the Dragon using the token - Fixed an issue where players may not have been able to feed bola'd creatures due to a desync on servers v15.21 - Fixed an issue where doors, gateways, and gunports would break on server reload v15.1 - New "Fountain of Youth" quest will appear for characters aged 90 years and higher. The "Fountain of Youth" (currently represented as a magical particle effect) appears in a single Golden Age Ruins across the ATLAS, near the Power Stone Container. Every 50 in-game days, it teleports to another Golden Age Ruins, on a cycle. If you find the Fountain, and activate it, your character will be set back to age 20, and if you do this when you were aged over 90 years, you'll gain a significant permanent statistics boost (you can do this multiple times to gain further boosts, each time when you're at least 90 years old). - Characters over age 90 get an old age debuff that slightly reduces stats (shown in char panel) - Fixed an erroneous feat cooldown time calculation, now all the feat cooldowns are what was originally intended. - Defeating the Kraken now gives you a unique passive skill which permanently and automatically reduces all of your Feat cooldowns by 33%! - Summoning the Kraken now only require the first 8 powerstones (Ghostship powerstone is no longer necessary) - Fixed the bug that was preventing recruiting new Crew in Freeports - Reduced the total time for unclaiming enemy claimflags, the max is now 4 hours, with 15 minutes when at 100 flags. - Vultures no longer target low-health wild creature - Reduced Wolf spawn frequency - Reduced Wolf natural targeting range - Reduced Wolf notify neighbor range. - Reduced Wolf hp and damage - Fixed land creatures AI's not getting aggro properly if attacked from a a ship - Stop Allies being able to Capture other Allied territories - Fixed rapid unclaiming, now if your contested flag is unclaimed it will unclaim at the same rate that it took to claim! - Improved door ticking performance - Added cheat DestroyAllNonSaddlePlayerStructures - Reduced default gold from treasure maps by 50% (as originally intended) and added a new server scaling value for treasure gold. Early last Friday morning, we were able to release the first iteration of the ATLAS Devkit. As the game continues to grow overtime, you can expect the Devkit to grow in tandem with additional features, content, and gameplay mechanics for modders to enjoy. We put up an announcement thread which covered a lot of details regarding the kit and how you can get the most out of it, so if you’ve yet to have a read, we’d recommend doing so: Additionally, our modding Community Manager, ZenRowe, has also been working on with the team on putting together some documentation for the editor which will be updated on a regular basis. Check it out here: https://devkit.playatlas.com/ Dynamic atlas maps round-up The ATLAS Dynamic Maps is a system that monitors live in-game territory ownership and indicates which companies dominate over the lands. Each week with our Captain’s Log, we’ll be including an image to monitor the progress of the maps, taking note of any exits or new arrivals and any drastic changes in the overall claim. Those who will come to dominate the ATLAS may very well become clear in the days and weeks ahead, though maintaining a large Empire will likely come with its own longer-term challenges… The companies that have occupied islands for a certain period of time will soon gain the automatic privilege to name them on the in-game and web maps, as it is their land! Remember you can don your tribe’s company flag by stylizing it in the game with a paintbrush! Upload your own images or design it how you like, with the top company flags always being visible on https://map.playatlas.com/ [EU PVP] The Whale's Wrath Held: XSM???, French & Ships, Bad Company, BLDX DouYuTV 56876, Chem B, LEGION, ETERNIA, The French Monkeys, and ENSLAVED. 25. Whereas, where I was, it was wolf hell. Until that nerf I had not even fully explored half my claims. Reason? I couldn't get out the damned door without being killed. Dying 20... 30... 50 times in one gaming session and getting nothing done as a result was not fun. I was ready to quit. Did I have more wolf tames? Yes. But even that was hell because any time I tried to tame a wolf, I got decimated by vultures. I had to build a fully enclosed pen and trap in order to tame. And even then, I didn't dare take any tame out of the FULLY enclosed stables for fear of it too getting eaten alive. I cannot even count the number of tames I lost to wolves, alphas and vultures when I did take them out. I could not go kill wolves and harvest those resource because the moment I whacked on the dead wolf, I was also whacking on half a dozen vultures which would NOT stop attacking until dead. Now, I have finally gotten a chance to see the island where I live. I can now get on my horse and go visit and trade with neighbors. Just a couple days ago, I ran into two groups. One was desperately trying to get off of a lawless. They had a base set up in a polar region and were looking for a small camp to gather wood, and as they called it, 'orange vitamins', which are plentiful where I live. I just happened to be standing beside a claim I was trying to take to turn into a horse trap. Instead, I gave it to them. Last nite, my crew and I went to visit them in their polar home. We had some great conversation, farmed some metal and yeti, grabbed a couple of penguins and had a great time. And, they agreed to let us build an outpost on their polar claim. Ya know what I've decided... You can leave the predators just as they are. A little, 'oh shit' every now and then is nice. But I'd MUCH rather spend my in-game time interacting with other players, setting up trades or just chatting about how lousy the weather is than to spend my entire gaming time tying to kill mobs by beating on them through the walls of my house because I can't get out of the fucking door. Can you tell that even the recollection of those days pisses me off?
