  1. I keep going back because it happened to people in season one. Nope not me, But i saw it to others, we asked for changes, nothing happened. And as being in a mega its the reason why we dont invite RANDO's. again asking for options for us Doesnt negate your ability to run solo, so why be offended ? I never mentioned DEMO'ing as a new person wouldnt be able to because harbors we rank 10 all the structures and no one is given that rank ever.... idk why your mentioning things i didnt bring up in a reply, change the subject much? Im talking about only SCUTTLING no straw man tactic, thanks for pushing your naritive in the fold though but i see though childlike tactics from trolls like you as mega's we build for use, not aesthetics so that rp shit does mean your base is shit. And as we play in a PVP game, yeah use over form is the stick to judge by. Also dont know why you think megas are a dictator ship, we as a mega have and play as a community and banter and hang out with eachother and have fun. Gods forbid if we dont want some random bob we take pitty on and invite to come learn and have fun w us to scuttle the boats. I know you REALLY want to keep that option on the table for some DUMB unknown reason to sit here and argue about it so long and it makes megas so evil to want to make sure We dont loose something to some rando who hates life so much he has to run other people hundreds of hours of game play by scuttling boats.... I dont know WHY you want to defend being a POS maybe its just who you are deep inside i guess.
  2. Ahoy Pathfinders! We’re back with another edition of Dev Q&A. We have info on PvE, game balance, and even a few cosmetics in the works. So thanks to all the pathfinders that submitted questions in the Discord. The Atlas team is dedicated to provide as much transparency as we can since we feel the community is also a part of the team. Often the loudest of the members, you provide us with feedback, suggestions, and even a compliment or two. Therefore, we feel it is necessary to be open with the community in all facets. We hope you will continue to support us through rough (and calm) seas. Until next time, we appreciate your support and ‘til next time, may your skies be clear, waters calm, and sails full in whichever way you roam. Without further ado, here’s our Q&A! Hang out at our Discord for a chance to get your questions answered in the next Q&A! Q&A Can you confirm if there will still be island claiming system or will it be lawless everywhere after the wipe? We are still making updates to the area claim system and are going to focus on that. The Island claim system is likely to stick around after the wipe, but the map changes are still being finalized so that is subject to change. Either way the Island Claim System should be available for private servers. Can we get some details of the theme and vision? We're not planning to overhaul the game. We are planning to lean into things we have and reinforce them more with new content. So you might see Army of the Damned themed things in the world more, or Atlantis... We're also talking about introducing some pre WW1 dirty industrial content. How are small companies and solo players going to work into the game? Just like they do in the real world. Seriously. Large behemoth companies can't do everything on their own, and they can't protect everything at once. As we move towards having Wonders that companies build, it's going to require a massive amount of trade, logistics and war to get one built. This creates opportunities for smaller groups to be part of the wheels of progress or engage in acts of piracy as large amounts of resources need to be shipped on the water. When can we expect balance changes? Balance changes are happening continuously in small amounts. We don't have a focus on getting balance "right" because so many things are still getting added to the game. We want to get all of our changes in to get a better understanding of the big picture and then will come back and tighten the balance. Can we get some form of roadmap even if it has a disclaimer that the plans could change anytime? Right now we are focused on getting ready for a larger summer release. This will include more ships and some of the ship customization system talked about in another question. In addition to that, we are working on multiple maps that connect different parts of the world, rather than one large, uniform map. We also are laying the foundation for Wonders that players can build in the world by creating a general system for giving buffs to your company based on buildings you've built. The content we are working on generally will support these systems as we move towards a world where companies have more long-term goals and reasons to compete over specific land. That pretty much covers the major things we are working on for the next six months to a year. ...we all know the focus is on pvp but PVE players are still generally curious what the long term thoughts and ideas really are while lots of them generally feel marginalized and pushed aside. We are focused on making Atlas one of the best and most unique pvp games out there. We want to be able to support PVE and Private servers so that other players can also enjoy what we create. Some of our changes are specifically driving PVP goals and do not fit well with PVE. We are looking at ways we can do a better job keeping PVP changes from creating bad experiences in the PVE community without having to spend a lot of time working on it to support two different play styles. In some cases, that means we need to not put those PVP systems on PVE. It also means we need to give unofficial server owners better tools for choosing how they want their world to be configured. Right now we are working on an overhauled configuration system that lets us do this with less disruption to our development cycle. Right now many things are hard-coded to work under certain conditions. Are the new claim towers going to be modified for PVE? Will the mechanic change at all? We would like to hear what PVE players think about this. While the disruption of adding the claim towers was painful because of the point in the season it occurred, generally we think it's better to be able to lay claim to an area and not have to build fence posts to prevent anyone else from building there. We do need to figure out some issues like decay times. Weight Sail buff or changes, when? All sails are getting updated and a new system is coming for changing the stats on sail blueprints. When is a harder question. We have some larger commitments that take priority right now and are taking a “time out” on some of the smaller things we've been working on to take care of some other business, like updating the mod kit, overhauling configurations, cleaning up a lot of bugs, and growing the team. What tweaks do the team have for the new claim system, we are testing on Lawless islands? We're still in the process of seeing how the meta changes from the new claims before making tweaks. As far as in the long term, we're planning to add some unique buildings and locations that must be captured with this system to get the benefit. The intention is for players to have strategic points on islands that give them an offensive or defensive benefit. Capturing an entire island might be a multiple day process as you have to take over these locations, build your own buildings, and wait for the benefits to kick in. When will you add side quests? Maybe ones that earn players gold, loot, and xp? Other ones aside from the skill tree achievements/ pve bosses? In the past there have been some MMORPG elements added to the game and we have decided this is not the best use of our time because this does not fit the kind of game we are making. Atlas is a sandbox survival game and we are fully committed to spending our dev effort on making tools for players to create their own interesting stories. Are you guys gonna make more tames/bosses? More tames are in the works! Our current focus (within the taming system) is making more existing creatures tameable. Crocodiles are next on the list and will be released soon. We don't plan to add new bosses. Our current boss fights didn't work well and were easily exploited, so we'd like to clean those up, and ultimately we want to focus on player stories rather than PVE content. When will we see further information about the new ship system and further adjustments? We are continuously making balance changes to the new ship system and the customization features described in this post are currently in development. The first customization feature will be released soon and will allow players to craft and swap a variety of railing types. The railings available with the launch of this feature will include Standard Railings, Cannon Railings, Cargo Rack Railings, Diving Attachment Railings, and Dinghy Hangar Railings. We know everyone loves the ability to paint their ships and we are also working to make the new ship system compatible with the painting system. Will the current ship system still be available to build next season or is it just going to be these new modular ships? There is no plan to remove the original ship system. That wouldn't even be a possibility until the other system is fully implemented. We would like the two systems to exist side by side unless something changes that makes this no longer possible. This poses some balance issues that we are going to have to address at some point. Will there be a new map implemented? Some changes to the map layout will be coming with the wipe in order to support Tradewinds. Later this year, you'll see a much larger overhaul of the map with portals to new areas. Is there any plan to add a farmhouse-like structure that could also feed tames? Or the ability for tames on wandering to feed themselves from wild berries/ food? We would like to eventually introduce a Stable structure where players can store their tames. We plan to add a similar module for the new ship system that allows easier tame transport. When will we get cosmetic hat microtransactions/vendor? We don't currently plan to add microtransactions for cosmetics or anything else even. Most of our art effort is focused on making new ships right now, but we do have one new hat coming soon! Final Note Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed. As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support! 3. I do agree. They are lazy and or don't have the power to make real decisions. How many people actually board a boat, kill everyone and sit there for 15-25 hrs to steal it. C'mon. The game is how they want it, they want to run the large companies and don't give a shit about any playerbase. Ark is their go to, and will be for Ark 2. Only reason we get any Atlas update at all is because they are milking a dead cow. Keep getting paid for doing as little as possible for as long as it lasts. If your going to have polls that are one day only and your not allowed to have a discussion about it, then you simply don't care about new players. You are catering to existing customers that blow you. You know its all about retention. Takes a big head to have that type of attitude. I loved Ark, loved Atlas, neither game went where it was supposed to. Both have a toxic playerbase because of toxic devs. They think wipe hype manages to bring in a large pool of players. Every patch delayed. Like the xbox excuse is something new. I actually just got kicked from the discord, for... profanity toward the devs will not be tolerated. Imagine that! LOL
  4. Edit (May 18th): Due to an unexpected issue, we’ve made the difficult decision to delay tonight’s patch to next Wednesday, May 25th @ 7PM PDT. We want to ensure the start of the new season is as smooth as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Ahoy Pathfinders! The time has come for new adventures to begin again in the world of Atlas. While familiar, the seas have shifted and hold new mysteries and challenges for both new and old pathfinders alike. With the recent discovery of the Golden Age ruins, pathfinders will find themselves tested by new adversaries that will strike down the most experienced of pirates if not careful. Seven of these bosses now roam the lands waiting to unleash their might on any that dare to find them. Are you brave enough to take the challenge? There is also talk of an new unexplored region, shrouded in mystery, that may bring a new set of trials to pathfinders looking to unlock its secrets. Do not trust your senses in this eerie place for one false move may spell doom for you and your crew. The map itself has also undergone a few changes to make traversing the world a little easier. As always, with the new content, we are also continuing to fix many of the issues that have been reported by you, the community, and will continue to do so until we get it right. We want to say thank you to all the pathfinders that have provided feedback and suggestions and that continue to support us as we make gradual steps to make Atlas the best gameplay experience possible. With that said, the servers will go down May 18th at 7PM PDT and will undergo a few hours of maintenance. Barring any issues, we expect the servers to return and season nine to start around May 18th, 10PM PDT. We wish all the best luck in your new adventures and, of course, happy sailing! Released Patch Notes v543.0 Season 9 Patch Ahoy pathfinders! The tides of Atlas are shifting again. New exotic locales to explore and dangers to confront have emerged. New Content New Mini-Bosses of the Golden Age Ruins Seven new Mini-Bosses have been added. Each Golden Age Ruin island will now have its own boss to find and fight. Ancient Fire Elemental The first fire elemental ever to be created. An unknown, wicked deity possessed inflamed, volcanic rocks. It is rumored that all other fire elementals derive from this one. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in A7 Elder Rock Elemental A Giant Rock Elemental that has seen the tides of the Atlas shift many times. He has finally arisen from the sulfurous land to destroy pathfinders who trespass on his grounds. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in F4 Kekada A Deep Sea crab that invaded the surface long ago. Its docile nature was corrupted by the power stone contained on the island it is found on. Kekada now brutally crushes anything it can fit in its massive claws. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in L7 Buwaya A cursed Crocodile that is only told about in myths originating from the Philippines. Legend says, those who fall victim to this monster are taken to the world of the spirits. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in G8 Eber The Boar God. Even creatures have deities, and this one smells awful according to Pathfinders who have encountered it. They say it is a big, feral boar with rotting flesh and piercing eyes that roams the forest. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in L3 Crystal Scorpion Legend of a mysterious scorpion that appears only in darkness that is drawn to dark energies. Found on the Golden Age Ruin island in M13 The Sentinel A cyclops creature tasked with protecting crystal entities. Corrupted by tainted crystals, this creature's appearance has taken on the visage of the very crystals he guards. Found in the Golden Age Ruin island in E1 Maw Waters A new region has been discovered! A brave, possibly foolish, Pathfinder followed the Ships of the Damned across the waters of Atlas. He returned with tales of a land shrouded in darkness and unnaturally thick fog, with creatures that seem to vanish or appear out of thin air, and eerie green fires. As proof of his findings he brought back a strange crystalline substance, soft to the touch yet somehow solid. His final notes state that any Pathfinder who ventures to these lands should not trust their eyes, as empty stretches of land may have hidden dangers. New Items Lantern of the Maw A special lantern that automatically appears on ships when they enter the Maw Waters region. Interact with the steering wheel to access the lanterns inventory, see current Essence value, and craft Solidified Essence. Fully fill your lantern to leave the Maw Waters region. How to gather Essence of the Maw and fill your Lantern There are several activities that will grant your lantern Essence of the Maw. With the exception of the Relic of the Maw all Essence is gathered on the ship the player enters on. Active Accumulation Destroy Ships of the Damned - Each ship destroyed will grant 10 Essence Destroy other players ships - Each ship destroyed will grant 25 Essence Obtain a Relic of the Maw - The Relic of the Maw is found in Flotsom and when consumed on a ship instantly fills that ship's lantern to full. Grants 100 Essence Passive Accumulation Travel 500 meters, either by sailing, swimming, or walking. Rewards 2-3 Essence. Survive in the Maw - For every 5 minutes spent inside the Maw Waters 3 Essence is rewarded. Essence of the Maw A viscous smoke that can be collected within a special lantern. This item is only acquired in the Maw Waters region, and can not be used outside of the Maw Waters. Solidified Essence A semi-soft semi-solid crystal that glows a dim blueish green hue. Relic of the Maw An ancient Golden Age Relic, found only in the Maw Waters. Using this Relic will instantly grant 100 Essence of the Maw. Reworked Map The World of Atlas has shifted again, new lands have emerged and the known world has been disfigured. Maps all around the Atlas will need to be redrawn with these newly discovered regions. Bug Fixes Fixed instances where babies born in the tame house did not require imprinting. 5. The resource costs for crafting patch kits and armor patch kits has been reduced by 50%. Modular ships have had their base weights adjusted. Server restarts have been set to automatically happen at 10:30 PST daily, including weekends. Interact with the steering wheel to set the minimum rank that can scuttle or unclaim. Adjusted lighting so there will be less contrast between day and night Xbox Only Improved memory performance Improved network connection Industrial Wonder Content Due to the feedback we received surrounding the Industrial Wonder, we have decided to cut it from this patch so that we have adequate time to redesign and adjust. 6. Well they've already shown that you can have tanks and airships, aircraft etc. So you could have several era based Atlas games available as both official and unofficial. We could have Pirate Atlas, Explorer Civ Atlas, WW1 Atlas, WW2 Atlas, WW3 Atlas.. with nukes.. The only difference is content, content & more content. But before any of that can be done, we need a combat system that works, economy that works, base design that works, offline protection if wanted; that works. Without the basic systems in place, there is no real argument as to what the game should look like cosmetically. Unless you just want a pure ark 2.0 with no offline protection at all. And it seems clear that many people do not want a non offline protection game. There's 3 main arguments here: People want land to build on, that theirs for at least long enough to build a few ships to explore or fight each other with. People want a non pvp environment to Quest and Explore in. People want to fight each other (this is split between offline protection and none) And generically, people also want the Ark type Taming of animals, dinos, special creatures as well as the ability to fight world bosses etc. It's really a huge pool of desires.. but noone will explain how they want specifics to actually work, that goes for both the Devs and the players arguing. To me, there's 2 main traits of thought here, Factions = People join a side, fight anyone not on their side. Can be pvp or pve based. One just has player damage disabled. The cons of factions is you tend to get alot of solo players doing their own thing, nothing ever gets done on a global base, people then form their own alliances with each other and you actually end up with an empire based system with people doing what they would have done if it was only an empire type game. ie you join solo, you team up, your team gets bigger and bigger until you control everything. Then it becomes top heavy, too many chiefs, splits falls apart and that gives you more people to fight with, win win for pvp. So ideally, it seems empires based is the most obvious way to go. You also have a small empire base, where the max size a team can be is preset. With hardware limits on numbers of players within a set area, in a vain attempt to limit zerging. But unless those teams are directly managed.. zerging will happen anyway.. so small empires seems totally pointless, as it just cannot work. You could go purely solo.. but the skill trees and design of ships makes solo work very harsh. The other aspect of solo is the idea is to have a multiplayer game, where people team up, get social, talk to each other, learn about each other. It's all part n parcel of mmo/mp gaming to make new friends. The competitive side of it doesn't need to degenerate into us v them or narrowminded xenophobia, about people who you don't know, who might think bad things about you because that's what your inexperienced mind is telling you in your own delusions of paranoia. The world doesn't hate you.. If anything, it just doesn't care if you exist or not, until you introduce yourself to it and for that you need to talk to people. You need that worldly experience. Wether we go pure pvp or pve doesn't really matter, both can be setup for. It also doesn't matter if some people want pure pvp and no pve, as those are minor opinions. We are split between pvp offline pro, pvp no offline pro, pve. Fact of life and gaming. Have any other opinion and it just doesn't matter. So now we need to get the basic systems to work, if you introduce ideas and systems people will not use.. then you're wasting your time adding them. People will go elsewhere. And unless people are prepared to make concessions to what they come across in a game or environment, the chances are they'll spend their entire lives leaving and running away, because they just don't understand how the world works. TL:DR - I have no idea what I just wrote.. It came from somewhere deep inside my brain.
  7. I'm confused about the Puckle Gun and Artillery settings. What I ultimately want to know is can I isolate a Puckle to shoot ONLY a pathfinder, even if the pathfinder is mounted. I don't want the Puckle to shoot at the tame (I don't want the tame tanking the Puckle damage and leaving the Pathfinder potentially untouched) as I would like all the shots to be taken at the Pathfinder, but I don't want a Pathfinder who is mounted on a tame to be safe from fire. Considering my above desired use for the Puckle, I need some explanation for the below Puckle settings to ensure I'm putting on the right setting: "Only Pathfinders or Tamed Creatures" "Only Pathfinders" "Only Pathfinders and Mounted Creatures"
  8. I think they dont care about server pve they only want new players. Literally unplayable since last xbox servers patch
  9. Incorrect. You don't understand English when you read it, do you? Note the word SOME. Idiot. In other words, since I have 5 years actually at sea, I know what it is like to be at sea, and this game nails the look of it, when it is not disrupting that with game stuff...like dodging a lot of SotD, Cyclones, and other players. I do not dislike PvP. I like PvP. But I also like things like exploring, sailing, diving for treasure, etc... But, when I PvP, I do not want to hit somebody's base with 100 people, when they only have 10 online. This is what you fail to understand. This is what defines a PvP player. When there is to be PvP action, we want there to be PvP, not PvO. I get no satisfaction out of demolishing a lightly defended base, let alone an undefended base. No joy whatsoever. No challenge. I want the game to offer more challenges than just PvP. I want it to not be repetitious. So I want caves to search for and discover. Caves that you must find on your own. And inside I want to be surprised by challenges I am not expecting. I hate that every game these days, ends up just being a meta...this is how you do it, and here is the youtube video to show you how. I like challenges, not simple procedures to victory, which is why ARK became boring. You are not hardcore. You avoid challenges, and every post you make proves it because you keep begging against hope, for your ability to hit soft targets to be retained. I don't want soft targets. I want hard targets to hit. THAT is the difference between you and me. You are soft, not hardcore.
  10. You are really stuck in your mindset. You say it yourself, you can still PvP, you can just not attack the base and parked ships 24/7 unless you declared war. What is good about this? 9 hours a day is a reasonable time, to stay close and online to defend your island, bases, and ships. In the other time, you can explore, attack enemy bases and ships, pvp, do all the fun stuff instead of babysitting your gear, island, and base. What do we want? We want to have fun, go out, explore, do PvP, attack ships on the sea when all players are on it and bases when they are being defended. We want to play with friends, people we know not some unknowns drafted for base defense and farming. What do YOU seem to want? You seem to want to sink ships when players are offline, in port. You want to break into bases and loot stuff when players are off. You want everyone to defend their bases 24/7 or lose all their stuff. You want people forced to play in large groups, of unknown people, just to have a tiny chance to one day do something fun. -- Honestly, i would argue further, that it would be in the best interest of the game, to keep the companies SMALL (They started with 1k, went to 500, now down to 250, still too large) 20-25 people is fun, MAYBE... 50 but 250 is still way too much.
  11. Hopefully they spend some time fixing the bugs around the modular ships or even somehowe around ships and sailing... instead of stupid new land items to place... I am officialy tired of writing down my feedback. On Discord it gets deleted everytime because the mod says i always post bugs which i am not allowed to... for me it's all about features the Devs add to the game and they are working as intended.(so legit feedback). But they don#t want to read here, they don't want feedback there... so we just go and let them be.
  12. Hard - I don't expect any of these to be answered, would be a nice surprise though. 1. Are you planning on changing ANY of the core game mechanics? 2. Have you considered merging all of the current networks into one network with all of the former networks being represented in form of grids? 3. Have you considered reducing the size of the current Atlas world in addition to merging all networks to compensate for the low player numbers? 4. Have you considered adding PvP Hotspots with very high end PVE content to incentivise Ship PVP and maybe even non-laggy ground PVP? 5. Do you think you can find a way to make the game playable for small groups or even solo players on the official network? If so, how? 6. Have you discussed the "ship in a bottle" solution to combat the atrocious FPS people are getting in their harbours in addition to finally getting rid of ship griefing? 7. Do you think having to defend your precious loot and boats 9 hours every single day is a sustainable and healthy system in the long run? 8. Do you think not being able to take a break from the game for as little as 10 days, without losing almost all meaningful progress due to auto decay promotes a healthy playstyle? 9. Do you think people are too occupied maintaining octuple-honeycombed bases with 10's of thousands of structures just to defend their progress, lagging the servers by rendering these beasts, instead of taking boats out to fight or explore some foreign land? 10. Have you considered offering 100% free & unlimited item and ship (in a bottle) storage in freeports? 11. The +max velocity stat on speed sails has now been broken for a longer period of time than it has worked. Completely killing ship pvp in the process. Can you explain why this is such a challenge for you? 12. Why does it take so long to get some very small balance tweaks or changes done nowadays? Dragons, whales, Npc's on tame swivels/ballista, large cannons, fire arrows, torches, shields, were all nerfed in a heartbeat. Things that are deemed extremely unbalanced and have been voiced many times have remained untouched for the last 4 months. How and why has your approach to these issues changed? 13. How many developers have worked on atlas? How many developers are working on atlas now? How many developers are going to work on Atlas if the player base decline and low sale numbers continues? 14. In Captain's Log 19 "The Golden Age of Piracy" you said some of your design changes will revolve around: -Allowing players to experience the ‘piracy’ side of the game immediately, whilst not trivializing the content. -Making sure that solo players and smaller groups feel safer when logging off, or that after they’ve taken a break they can come back and know that it won’t be such a difficult feat to get out on the seas again. -Incentivize companies to neutralize their territories, inviting others to make use of their land so that both can benefit. -More MMO aspects: player markets, player-specified automatic trade routes, additional quests, and daily missions Considering most new quests are mere milestones of existing content, and the player markets being DOA - Can we expect any of these promised design changes in the future? If so, when? 15. Will you ever go back to making Captain's Logs which don't spoil content but instead talk about the design direction of the game? 16. Considering how badly new tames are perceived by almost all players, could the developer(s) working on tames be reassigned to something the player base actually wants? 17. Do you think parts of the Atlas project were to ambitious (40000 players, 225 Grids, 4 Different Server Networks, Openworld, Sandbox, Piracy, MMO, Multiplayer, the pre-wipe hat)? 18. Right now people have no idea where this game is going or what you are working on. Can you involve the community in discussions about future content or design choices, if possible without spoiling the content? 19. Can you make this Q&A a regular thing? Maybe monthly? (only if its fruitful and you answer actual questions) 20. Right now there is a huge risk attached to fighting another ship with 0 reward. Speedsails being bugged makes ship fights almost completly voluntary resulting in no ship battles in a game about ships and battles. What are you plans on incentivising ship battles? 21. The last couple of months, we've gotten no significant changes to PvP or multiplayer. Do you stand by your statement that multiplayer is still your primary focus? 22. Considering ATLAS is an assetflip, do you think you can ever distance yourself from ARK so much that people wont realise it's an assetflip within 1 minute of playing both games? 23. You have been provided detailed feedback about the game, yet we see very few suggestions make it to the official servers. Many things get suggested repeatedly and we never know why you don't want to implement them or what your thoughts about said ideas are. Can you be more transparent and openly discuss why you dont want to implement certain ideas? 24. Do you have a vision for the game? 25. Do you think big significant changes are necessary to improve the game or are small incremental changes sufficient? Medium - Very fair, not as loaded questions 26. Are you working on a freeport wide auction house, in the hopes of creating an economy? 27. Have you considered reworking the blueprint system? (99% being complete garbage, insane variance, useless blueprints on the drop tables) 28. Have you considered reworking the crafting system? (Crafting characters/constant respeccing whenever you want to craft something) 29. What are your plans to attract new players? 30. Do you think it's realistic that you will be able to optimise the game to a point were high end computers will get consistent 60 FPS on normal settings, even when loading huge bases and harbours? 31. Have you considered revamping the building system (ships and land building) and/or reducing the structure limit to help achieve consistent mediocre FPS? 32. How are the developers distributed amongst projects (PVP, Balance, Assetflipping from Ark, PVE, Cosmetics etc.)? 33. What are your thoughts about switching from a Pay to play business model to a free to play model considering steam reviews are the number 1 factor for customer acquisition and you already have a cosmetic system in place? 34. Where do you see this game in the near future (the next 6-12 months), and the far future (1-3 years from now)? 35. Do you think you can bounce back from current player numbers - if so, how? 36. What are your honest thoughts about the current state of the game? 37. What do you think the playerbase wants the most right now? Have you considered polling the playerbase? 38. Can you give us a roadmap/timeline of future development? 39. Do you want to distance yourself from ARK or get closer to it development wise? 40. Do you want ATLAS to be distinguishable from ARK or do you not care that they are very similar asset/content wise? 41. Will future update stay focused on importing ARK content or will you start making more original content? 42. Have you considered adding or putting developers in charge that know little to nothing about ARK in order to get out of your ARK mindset (tames, recycling content)? 43. Are you aware and satisfied with how harpoons have changed ship fights or do you plan on tweaking them? 44. Do you want to incentivise ship fighting, if so how? 45. Is the absence of frequent PVP balancing caused by a lack of information provided by the playerbase? 46. Are you planning to get rid of or at least heavily reduce obnoxious, tedious and grindy parts of the game? If so, what are your CONCRETE plans? Easy - Questions you want to be asked (bad) 47. Do you have any plans to add more colours to the current pallet? ヾ(〃^∇^)ノ 48. Do you have plans to add cosmetic whiskers, cat ears and a cat tail? These could be harvested from dead baby cats that we are all so eagerly waiting for. ♥‿♥ 49. When will we finally be able to have intercourse with our fellow players (asking for a friend)? ≧◡≦ 50. When will Captain Jat Sparrow return? (◕︵◕)
  13. First of all, I really want to like ATLAS, I really do. But it is not easy. I realize that this game is in early access and that is fine. I also understand that it is impossible to please everyone, especially in this time and day. I also want to say that there is a lot of stuff in the game, that I really like, but it mostly ruined by several issues. The official map is huge, literally. On a good ship with good wind, each grid takes roughly between 15 and 25 minutes to travers, and even longer if one need to explore each island in a grid cell. So, lets say 2 hours per grid, in order to properly assess all islands. With 121 grids at 2 hours each, that equals 242 hours just for assessing all islands. This is a good thing, in my opinion. It means that it should be possible, given time, to find a spot for everyone. In theory. Now, I admit, I haven't been to every island, or even every grid. I usually lose my ship long before that. Farmhouses and warehouses I am a late comer to the game, after the last wipe, and it is damn near impossible to find a place to put down even a single farmhouse. Especially if you want any kind of efficiency out of it. It is not really a problem of finding a place to build a base, but the exclusion range on farmhouses and markets are just so huge that at this point it is very very difficult to find a spot. I found one island with 5 or 6 farmhouses, quarries etc. all connected to 1 or 2 warehouses. There was literally nowhere on that island to set down another farmhouse. It had simply been monopolized by two players/companies. I do believe that several things should be done about this. 1. Reduced the number of farmhouses, mines, quarries etc. to a maximum of two per company per island. 2. Reduced exclusion range on farmhouses, to maybe twice the influence sphere of the farmhouse. 3. Remove the exclusion range for warehouses from different companies, or reduce the number of warehouses to one per company per island. Trade Wouldn't know, I haven't been able to find a spot to place a warehouse. So I am unable to get into trading, since the tradepost needs a warehouse. Ships I like building ships, but they have become to damn expensive, and it is too easy to loose a ship to a Galleon of the Damned. It usually goes like this: I build a ship. I set out. Everything is good for a while. At some point I end up lagging, and getting my ship shot out under me. Rinse and repeat. It is survivable when just building sloops, but when you want something large, like a schooner, you ALSO have to find 5,000 gold. I know, it is fairly easy finding gold, but still, 5,000 gold for a schooner, and it just gets more expensive from there. Besides, to find gold, I basically need a ship, so now I have to build a new sloop, unless of course I saved it when I moved to my schooner. Then I have to trawl for wrecks and buried treasure until I have the 5,000 gold. I get that it shouldn't be too easy, but it sure as heck isn't. At least not if you're like me, and prefer to be alone or just a couple of friends in a company. I think that the gold cost should be removed again, maybe except for galleons. Ships are damn expensive to build, especially when soloing or just a couple of friends in a company. Ships of the Damned All too often have I been ambushed by Ships of the Damned coasting around just on the other side of a grid wall. I can't see them through the grid wall, as it is a different server. That is fair enough, but it isn't fair that they can get so close to the wall, that I have no chance of evading them. Even if I manage to turn around and head back to the grid I came from, the bastards can follow me through to the other grid. And I lag whenever I switch grid, they don't. From a cosmetic viewpoint, the Ships of the Damned look more like alien spaceships, than sailing ships crewed by the damned. But maybe that is just me... I like the concept of the SoD, but all too often their cluster in grounds that are too large to fight, and since you are dependent on the wind, it can turn out to be impossible to get away. I really don't know how to improve on them, but maybe smaller spawns? Lower aggro range? Less damage? All I know for sure is, if the wind is weak and you manage to aggro a SoD, you're pretty much doomed. At least if said ship is larger than your. And on top of these issues, there is a lot of minor annoyances, almost too numerous to mention, so I'll just name a few. 1. cobras are way too aggressive and abundant. 2. Character designer. One face per gender? Seriously? The faces are exceedingly ugly. And no matter how much I fiddle with the settings, it is not possible (for me at least) to get something that looks human enough. 3. Randomized crewmembers. Good lord! Same issue as above. Either they are towering overweight giants, or skinny midgets, and not much in between. Maybe one in ten looks relatively normal, the rest are freaks of nature. 4. Age progression. It's a great and fun idea on paper. But in reality it is hugely annoying, especially because it is not particularly easy to get to a fountain of youth. At least make it optional? I know, many players do not concern themselves greatly with how their character looks, but it matters a lot to me. So something like these issues really sticks in my craw. I have returned to ATLAS on several occasions now, but I end up leaving again after a few weeks. This time my departure is caused primarily by the lack of balance in a lot of things. Ship building, farmhouses, warehouses etc. It doesn't seem like the ATLAS crew concerns themselves with the small tribes, or solo players. It certainly doesn't feel that way. I am a software developer myself, so I know about having to add new features and not just correcting bugs. For that matter, I know some bugs are nigh impossible to squash without have to pull a lot of other stuff. So, some bugs will never be fixed, and there are good reasons for that. But a lot of issues seem to be more of a balancing thing than a bug, so I would think maybe of the issue I have, should be fixable. Whether the developers agree or not, is of course another matter. In any event, I am out for this time. Maybe next season?
  14. I'm actually done with this game. With Ark you know some salty kid is going to come along in a Mech and wipe you. But the salty kids on this game bought it and now develope it. So you don't answer tickets, don't fix issues, just paint over them or downright ignore them with your line, we are not officially released yet. Fix your game before adding more broken content. Ships sinking at 90% life, not like it was easy to get either, Legendary Pegasus shouldn't be sinking at 90%. Or did you catch your wife blowing your boss and want to drive his customer base down. We wanted new land to settle on, we get tiny amounts while vast empires control whole sectors and bully other players who have also payed for this game. Not even land we can make our own. We wanted mega companys restricted but all you did was give them more lawless land. Doesn't take points to claim it, takes fucking wooden posts. Your worse than world of warcraft for giving your player base exactly what they done want. Your tame houses are for the mega breeders and to tidy up the breeding bases, nothing else, no other benefit. Your prefabricated boats sink way too easy and you swallow what the megas tell you to. Grow some balls and do whats right for your game before everyone else leaves
  15. Hello Everyone, Our company Dead Sea Syndicate finally created the Great Temple a few weeks ago and we placed it down on our island. Approx 3 min later the zone crashed and when logging back in the temple was gone and back in my inventory, but the game thinks we still have it placed down. Has anyone had this issue and or does anyone know a way to fix this issue. As it stands, we cannot set it back down because the game thinks it's already down and because of this we have no way to upgrade it. I know it wasn't designed to just place on any island but this season it lets you and I've seen many companies with there's placed down on random islands. We also submitted a ticket like three weeks ago and seems to not be getting any response from the devs. Any assistance or suggestions welcome, as we really want to enjoy this Temple if we can get it placed back down. Thanks,
  16. Why though? I don't want to have to deal with that, I just want to raid people and PVP. I don't care about an age mechanic that just gets in the way of the fun part of the game. You don't just crowbar mechanics in for the sake of it. They have to work with the game they're in. Age mechanics get in the way of the real game, and should be scrapped. Also, I don't want to look old when I might want to look young, and I don't want to look young when I might want to look old. Just put it as an option in the character creator and be done with it. If people want to have children, let them, but don't force us to age and kill off our own characters if we don't want to. It'll just make people quit the game.
  17. i do not want to partake in any pvp whatsoever, nothing but griefing and toxicity, forcing people who literally dont want any part in pvp is just going to kill the game for them and then you loose a really big chunk of your player base that you wont get in return, learn from the mistakes like blizzard have made... deciding for the players how they should be playing the game is only going to lead to more backlash, and more people leaving. maybe take a dedicated PVP server since they are already doing both pve and pvp.. pvp players would be more open to a change like this, i get that this is "early access" but the way this is being handled right now seems like constructive criticism isnt welcomed, and devs dont actually care about how any of the pve players feel about this change because "it's not what they want to see players doing" when taming/breeding/building etc is EXACTLY what players want.. dont punish the players for playing your game the way they want to play..
  18. Thins is this was suppose to be a Survivalcraft MMO. CooP sailing ships. Diff. Roles for players with their skills tree, etc. Now they are going Massive Single Player Online, Instead of MMO. Why in the name of blackbeard i would want to play a game like this solo?!?! WHat the actually ****?!? Or Life is Feudal solo? O Eve Online solo? (Doable) Even mobas if u play solo, team up with someone else. But here, hey, lets solo craft everything and solo sail everything. I want to craft bows, but also be a builder, have skills to build ships, make my armors, tame a dragón, and had enough skill points to put in firearms and in melee. Want to be able to heal my self, tank and do DPS. But also want to support my self. It's not fair, i had a job. I want a NPC play for me or it means it is too grindy to play... I want also a instant battle mode because had to find someone to pew pew is too hardcore for a game. I want to be like World of Warships as much the time to fight someone. **** Thing is. The more slow paced, hard grindy games out there. Have the more mature player database. Funny, huh? BTW. Hate Fornite, but love World of Warships. <3. Just that if i want play World of Warships i play World of Warships. No Atlas. They sold me a survival craft MMO. And we have no survival. The craft is a easy joke mode. And it's for solo play. (3 guys solo sailing 3 ships just rape a 15 guys crew in 1 ship)
  19. I think most people are aware of this. I think the people have a hard time articulating their frustration. I do not. I have tried to tell people, but too many do not want to listen. So let me spell it out once again. People do not mind assets being reused and reskinned. They simply don't want to play ARK with Pirates. Too much focus is on battling wolves, snakes, tigers, etc... BORING and FRUSTRATING all at once. The Alphas need to be removed from the main islands, to the boss Islands. Spawning very rarely on the main Islands, OK, but not like now where they are everywhere you look. Second, stop with the OP animals from level 2 to 60. They are absurd. Voracious eaters that do nothing but run from one thing to the next, eating. It's beyond immersion breaking. Take the focus off battling those for good XP. Put more things to discover, and boost the XP for gathering, crafting, and building. Allow people to spend most of their time on boats, at sea. This what they came for, but this is not what they got, and 3 out of 4 refuse to play, and many are gone for good. Add in ORP for ships that are undefended. Add alarms for ships under attack. Your first clue should not be a death message for an AI crewman, followed 60 seconds later by message that your ship was sunk. If you are away from the ship, allow it to have a buff such that another ship won't want to fire at it. Not until the ORP buff is gone. Give us the ability to put AI crewman in the crow's nest with 360 degree awareness, to alert you of approaching enemies. Allow us to fast travel back to the ship with our armor, weapons and gear, but not stuff we have gathered. Make that drop into a chest to be discovered by others, or recovered by us, say within 24 or 72 hours. Nothing wrong with the fun of discovering free resources somebody dropped, but couldn't get back to. Adds to the fun of the game. Give us home ports with AI so powerful, you CANNOT get past them, at all. We want to fight at sea with our ships, not get them blown up while we sleep, or are inland at our main base. This does not mean your port should not be able to be raided. The protection should just be very nasty for anyone who tries to damage the ship. Might not be necessary if while in the port area, the structure of the ship, other than the doors and hatches, are invulnerable. This would mean you can be raided, just not destroyed. Allow for containers and stations to be broken into without destroying them. Often, people raid you in ARK, and only take a small amount of your stuff, but everything is gone because the bags disappear in 30 minutes. Would be nice if a raid didn't cost you everything you worked for. The issue, for the TLDR crowd is that people don't want to play ARK. They don't want the focus being so much on fighting wolves, tigers and snakes for the XP. And they don't want to spend so much time gathering and building forts. They want to be on the water, in cool ships, fighting, and having a good time exploring. Take a cue from Star Citizen. 9 of 10 ships you see will be NPC's. This allows for everyone to shoot at stuff, without half the people being winners, and half being losers. Like it or not, people don't play games to be your target, to be your punching bag. They play for their own enjoyment. I know many old friends you used to PvP with me, who can't be bothered with PvP these days, because it's so toxic, and so focused on large clans led by some streamer. They only play Single player games, or dabble in PvE. 50% of the online gamers, are now doing PvE, or close to it. I am starting to believe that this is the only way to go in this game, at the moment, because there is NO way to protect your stuff, without a large online presence around the clock.
  20. Set the cannons to fire only at ships...still fires at fish. I don't understand this. Honestly, they should alter the code so that cannons do not even see fish. Who in their right mind is ever going to want their cannons to shoot at Sea Bass, Tuna, Turtles, Mantas, etc... Why would you want that? I wouldn't even want them to shoot at Sharks. If I want something to shoot at sharks, I will put Ballistas on the ship. I liked that S+ allowed us to set the guns to fire only at specific Dinos. You want to shoot Rexes that invade your base, but you don't want them shooting at every last Ptera that comes in range, for instance. They should do the same thing here. Allows us to pick exactly what we want our defenses to shoot at. Lions, Cobras, Tigers, Wolves that get into your base? Yes, shoot them please. Cows, bears, horses, etc.? No, do not shoot them. Fish? No. SotD, yes please...fire away.
  21. Suggestions to Devs - Crafters and Towns Big picture, if you want this to be a popular/successful game change your mindset. Instead of making a game the way You play/enjoy, open it up to how customers/players may want to play also. For example, I don't want to spend most of my time on the sea. I enjoy the crafting, and I want to build a town, where I can install merchant npcs so that other players can come and use my town, and I make gold that way. I like the architecture possibilities. I would love to build a town that impresses others, and becomes famous on the server, where people come to trade, buy, repair and explore what I've built. WITH NO DETERIORATION of buildings or ships in harbor. Having played Everquest and WoW for years I can tell you there are many people looking for the same thing I am. I hate being on the sea. The dangers are too many. The reward to danger isn't worth it to me. Too many islands are hard to land at. Being at sea for 30 minutes between islands sucks. I've been playing for about 3 weeks and haven't built/used/or crafted a single canon. I've built 2 rafts, 3 Sloops and all but 1 raft are gone. That's not fun. PVP isn't the only type of player. I feel like you are ignoring a huge selling point to your game. I hope you revise that stance.
  22. I will simplify it for you based on what I have read from you. You are basically saying that you want to play on PvP but not be attacked. You want the game to work so you can fight when you want with who you want. Anybody that doesn't meet YOUR criteria isn't allowed to fight you. You want an ORP put into a game that's principle of PvP is territory wars. So I asked you how small of a window should they make it? To me you want to be a small PvP company but lack the ability to do that so you want them to change the game. ~Lotus
  23. I will just focus on this small part if you don't mind pulling it out of the context a bit. IMO 70% of those who left early was solos and small tribes (buddies). They found it too hard to play without the ORP and with zerg companies indeed claiming all, and were irritated by long sailing and some bugs. People like freedom to play with whom they want and how they want , after all this is a sandbox game. For many of us, that does not include being a secondary citizen in a zerg. Personally, I will not use in-game what we all must use in life: climbing the corporate structure, slaving for inferior "leaders", "proving " myself as a leader to 200 others and playing power struggle games only to be a deciding factor in tribe and achieve my personal goals in game. To be able to build what you want, how you want, attack whom you want, say and do what you want. And al that without being in a herd, where you personally do not amount to anything much other than meat shield, farm machine droid, breeding station and cannon fodder. And, from people that already joined zergs , I only hear most negative stories. Yes, even from the zergs of some of those who post here and advertise here. It all led me to believe that only leaders and admins of zerg have fun. So, it is natural for those people to defend the game and current system, because, in fact, they are defending their positions and comfort zones Like many others, I want the small tribes to actually have a chance in ATLAS, like we were promised by he devs.

We will look to make this UI element colorblind friendly in the future. Map Menu UI Visual Revamp The Atlas tab map UI has been revamped visually for an easier navigation of the regions. To get to the Overworld map click on the icon of the globe in the top left of your map screen. The region the player is currently in on the Overworld map is highlighted in green. Open Water Servers There is a new way to traverse through the atlas’ regions besides portals. There are now intermediate open water servers that connect regions to one another. There are no islands to be found here, just open seas and the treasure and dangers that come along with it. They are known as open waters and there are four of them within the world. They are connected through all sides of the Central Waters region. Depending on which cardinal direction the player goes through determines which region they travel to. Transient and Static nodes for this path can be found and harvested exclusively within the Uncharted Sea region. Industrial Wonder: Power Nodes Transient Node - Geothermal Vents This transient node is similar to the Army of the Damned ones in that they have a time limit of one week before they deplete, despawn, and respawn at a different location, but they spawn more inland. Players will need to craft the new Ore Miner structure in order to harvest the resource of these nodes. These transient nodes produce a new resource type of coal: Brimstone Static Nodes There are two variants of Industrial static nodes - Lava vents and Sulfur pits. There is no need to create a harvesting structure for either as Pathfinders who’ve traveled here have built them already, but they seem to have perished. Lava Vents produce a new metal: Orichalcum. Sulfur Pits produce a new type of coal: Pure Sulfur Both of these resources are needed to craft new Industrial structures and gear now and in the future. Lava static nodes allow players to build the Industrial Smithy. Sulfur pit static nodes will get new crafting recipes in the future! Some of the pirate edwin introductory lines have been removed to improve clarity while starting the game. Skill tree We would like players to have to diversify their crew member's skills to have a well maintained and working company. We have reworked the skill tree where you can unlock every skill discipline from the survival tree. Think about the skills you want to have as pathfinders will no longer be able to unlock every skill. New Max Level Cap: 110 New Base Max Level (before discoveries): 77 All skill disciplines have been reworked Removed the song and dance skill discipline Changed firearms discipline to ranged combat Map Changes Atlas has expanded! Visit new areas based on geographical locations Regions Available Rookie Cove - An area for all pathfinders to cruise the seas in peace. A cove for all to gather their bearings and test their newfound abilities until they are comfortable to progress full sail ahead! Central Waters - The largest area in the game and host to a healthy mix of tropical/temperate islands, but also an ancient evil told in Atlantean myths. Can you find all the power stones and defeat the greatest challenge? South America - A region home to tropical/equatorial areas. However, there seems to be faint chanting amongst this region. Will you be able to find the source of this hidden power? Africa - A region home to the hottest desert Islands around. Crocodiles, venomous snakes and lots and lots of sand call this region home. Antarctica - The harshest sub-zero climates, icebergs, penguins, and illusive yeti's populate the islands around here. North Pole - The north pole is similar to Antarctica, but to the north. Same freezing weather but perhaps the treasures here are the defining difference. Atlas Menu Map The Atlas Menu has been modified to fit the new regions available. The following tabs are available for you to look at. Overworld - The first map drafted by early cartographers. A general outline of the world is available. Rookie Cove - The home to the starting, self-titled region Central Ocean - You will find the map to the Central Waters region here Mediterranean Sea - The blazing hot desert islands of Africa region is here Central Maw - Uncharted waters, but rumor has it that the Kraken's lair is here South Atlantic Ocean - Tropical Oasis of the South America Region are found here Arctic Ocean - The extreme colds of the North Pole Region are located here Southern Ocean - The freezing depths of the Antarctica Region are here Portals Atlantean technology has arisen from the dark depths of abysses unknown. With it however, it looks like traveling from region to region has become a whole lot quicker, but perhaps even more dangerous. Pathfinder Portals - The privateers before you have taken it upon themselves to start studying the portals as well as providing safe passage through these portals. Located within Rookie Cove and Central Waters, these portals will transport you between these regions! Perpetual Portals - It seems the Atlanteans created a sort of oceanic highway. A free, reliable way of travel between regions. They have arisen from the depths and are available for all to travel through and explore! Damaged Portals - In the thousands of years Atlanteans have gone missing, not all of the portals have been kept in functional shape or have been left unfinished. These portals need some extra gem power to travel through. Be warned these do not stay open forever! Cost: Magic Marrow: 50 Gold Coin: 250 Central Portal - Seemingly, this seems to be the first type of portal ever created! However, it seems to have been keeping something away rather than allowing others in. Located in the Central Waters Region only, it seems to need power stones to open. Will you be the first to see what's on the other side? Power Node system Transient Nodes Transient Nodes are special locations on islands that allow for unique resource harvesting. Functionality still works and can be used on Unofficial Servers, a word from our Lead Designer: v401.9 - Disabled Claim Flag height limit on PvE servers (only meant to be active on PvP) v401.5 (Server 401.8) - Islands on the Official Network now have a maximum z-value for how high Claim Flags can be placed, unique to the island. These are based on the highest terrain points, before considering mountains, large rock formations or steep pillars. The in-game HUD will let you know whether your current claim flag is in a valid location. If your claim flag is not in a valid location, when attempting to place a new one you will receive HUD feedback informing you whether a spot is valid or not. Players will have approximately a month (Mid/Late November) to reposition their flag to a new location. We'll provide a more specific date closer to the patch which changes this. When placing the flag at the new spot, it will automatically destroy the old claim flag and transfer the inventory into the new flag. - Unofficials can activate this setting by changing the following config in their game.ini: MaxSettlementFlagZ = 999999 (default, which means FlagZ can be placed at 99999 z height above the per-island specific height). This is an offset value, if you adjust this, it will use the per-island specific max height + the offset. For example, making it 3000 will look for the highest 'legitimate' location on an island, and then add an additional 3000 z to that height to determine the flag's maximum location. 25. Hello, This game is already running Season 11 and still the main game mechanics been remaning the same. For example: Why don't try fix problem, like why game dies quick and how to keep it more alive: a) "Don't have big players base" - first reasons for that is because game need too much grind and there is no way protecting your progress. You been running so many seasons, its time to start trying out different things. - Firstly 4x Increased all rates should be applied as normal rate (less grind, more fun) - Secondly, should shourten PVP servers times (season lenght), it should go with seasons (1-2 months). Players like new starts, and early racing for islands. Could also try out even shorter seasons. - Its time also to add 1-4 player companies server in the game (with no alliense, max 1 island per companies). There is more small clans and solo players out there than zerg players, so it would be nice if player can have a change to choose , which kinda of server to play. 11 Seasons all big companies always allie up with another big companies. Also kills the game real quick, every1 is getting allied up, nothing happening. -4th, try out adding ranking system in the game and reward top players/companies with permanent skin rewards (it's almost nessesary, to learn adding/ coding seasonal rewarding system in the game, so players don't want to skip seaons or they miss permanent skins - game gonna start feeling alive). This should be piorities NR#1 to get done. I dont think i should continue here... I just hope you try to do more in next year, than previously before. Happy New Years Everybody !!!
