  1. Hello fellow pirates! I have decided to pick all your brains for some ideas about playing alone. This does not mean that I play alone but in case of other being out or difference in time etc. Just an FYI, I play on an awesome server and you all more than welcome to come and hang out with us. So, let's get to it. As I have mentioned in the title above, please let me know what you all do when you are alone whether waiting for friends to log on or playing on single player. I for example like to build, do low-level maps, farm blueprints, and farm possibly going to farm damned as we are getting ready to kill the Kraken. Here is a photo of my animal pen
  2. One idea, that I can't take credit for, that a member in my company came up with was NPC Lumber yards, mines, and what not that would help companies get out of farming and more on the seas. I really like that idea. I believe that if you made it so they didn't farm like a lot, but say 10,000 a day and then people could farm more if they wanted. That would help people enjoy the game. You could make it cost a bit in gold and a number of NPCs that would give you the max number of resources. A lot of what burns people out is the farming because you gotta do so much of it. Just an idea that could really help people enjoy the seas, which is my favorite part of the game, and less the farming aspect. Thank you for listening
  3. Harvest Boost feat returns around 10x from pure nodes like metal, crystal, flint, etc. It also seems to give about 5x from wood, rocks, etc.

    Crop plot Fertilizer vanishing bug

    I set up a farm of 56 plots and filled each with 6 fertilizer to prepare to seed, I seeded 2 with beets the rest unseeded. I of course waited 2 hours prior to seeding the rest to allow the rain to collect in my plots. All 54 plots were unseeded, with their 6 fert each left to gather rain water. Upon returning, I found each unseeded plot somewhere around 300-600 water with 0 fertilizer in them, the 2 beet plots were still at ~317k-300k fert. Total, 16,200 thatch, 312 feces worth of gathering lost, as well as my patience. Thanks for your time, I hope I never have to see an animal feces ever again. The Seafaring Scrub

    Irrigation and farming?

    So has anyone been able to actually get some farming up and running? We are located in a desert/temperate biome, and after building a ship and a base we decided it was time to start some farming. So i built a Water Tank + Pipe systems. However i can not place the pipe system in ocean water. Fair enough as it contains too much salt, but i was hoping the tank was able to filter it. Guess not. Then i thought it maybe would be possible to dig a water spring and place the intake there. Nope. Then i read that you could place the tank on the spring. Also a nope. We dont have any lakes or ponds on this island so is it just completely impossible to farm some plants at all the islands that don't have a source of freshwater? If so, i imagine they would all be claimed by now, rendering it completely impossible to do farming? Please tell me i missing something?

    Herbal Farming

    Presently farming is permitted only for cooking purposes, with limited scope. Berries, cooking herbs and medicinal herbs are off the table for farming. This requires importing herb and berry supplies, as well as regional vegetables or fruits that cannot grow in certain soil types. I propose an additional skill be available for herbal farming. For folks without herbs, cooking and medicine are import heavy. Though not an inherent issue, I wonder why not give folks interested in specializing an outlet for their interests and build onto the current farming system. Soil types permitting, this would open these skills up to more players of different parts of the map that wish to specialize.
  7. As the topic states, this if about farming, cooking, and food preservation. Starting with Farming: First: Crop plot placement requirements are way to far apart. It’s like a 6 inch gap on all sides as the closest they can be to each other. While wanting to have more space it also doesn’t look pretty (for those of us who like it to look nice and tight). Second: Harvesting. Don’t get me wrong the yield is nice, however it’s the same weather I do it (fully speced), the bonus mini-game, a company member does it (non-spec), making the points I put into the bonus useless, as well as not needing to do the mini-game (which I personally do enjoy). Third: Tundra Rock doesn’t work. When I place a crop plot on wood or thatch I get the “tundra thatch or wood”, on stone it says “tundra rock”, but when I click to plant seed it says “no seeds available”. If it’s not meant to be on stone foundations fine but make it where you can’t place them on stone floors. Fourth: Water Tanks. Where we live it rains enough that we don’t need water tanks, however I made a bunch to be able to fill skins and water jugs, however the water barrels hold I think (500-600 water), where as the tanks only hold 200. Thats not a lot of water for a water tank when I could just make barrels that take up 1/4 of the space and hold 3x the amount. I like the reservoirs because you can pipe them unlike the barrels but it’s not worth the space with such a tiny amount of water it holds. Lastly: Fertlizer. I love that I can just craft it but there are 4 types of poop, human, small, medium, and large. I’d like to be able to take a large poop with like 150 thatch to make a bigger bag of fertilizer than have all the sizes make one size. I don’t mind if it cost more thatch for bigger bags but it makes picking up bigger poops more useful. I have PIGs but still when you feed your tames and they poop might as well use grab it and craft a bag of fertilizer. i think that’s about it on farming. I like the idea of it and that you can’t grow everything in one zone or on one surface but there are a few things that need to be adjusted. Cooking: I know there are plans to work on this and change it. A few things to make sure they aren’t forgotten. First: Meat. Animal meat is used in some recipes however in the grill it autocrafts making you have to put double in the grill so you can make your food while the other half turns into cooked meat. Also, can you make cooked prime fish meat look different in the UI then the raw prime fish meat because currently they look exactly the same, even if it’s just making the cooked a different color on the UI would be nice. Secondly: Water. Unless you live on an island with fresh water, getting water requires tanks and barrels. Not a huge deal because there’s decent rain fall in our area (I can’t speak for all zones), however, the waterskin and the water jug (even though one holds more) gets 1 use per recipe. If I can use the water jug 3 times to drink from why can’t it get 3 uses in cooking? That’s about all I’m going to say right now as it has been said the plans to rework it just a couple of things I hope you consider as well. Finally Food Preservation: Preserving Bags are cute and I love them, however they are small and don’t hold much, you can upgrade to the food lodder that holds more however I can’t put salt in it, and while it does have a decent life span it’s not comparable to the preserving bag, especially on custom foods like hot cocoa, which only stacks to 5 and has a 6 hour life span in the bag. I’d love to be able to put preserving salt in the food lodder to add to the life span or given a bigger preserve bag. Feeding troughs do not have a long enough life span on meat. Berries stack to 100 so it’s not as noticeable how fast they expire, but the meat spoils so fast. If either the time is longer OR we can put preserving salt in there to increase it that would be fine as well. Spoiled Meat has zero purpose in the game, can we make when meat spoils it’s like berries and just vanishes. You spend 5-10 mins a day while playing just chucking rotten meat out of bags, troughs, in your inventory etc. it’s space consuming with no purpose. i think that’s all I have to say as these are important aspects in the game that I enjoy, farming and cooking, plus caring for our animals and ship crew. So I hope you consider some of my ideas. Thanks ChickFabulous! P.s. please make bolas stack! And a bigger storage beside large storage boxes. Even in Pirates of the Caribbean they had vaults lol.

Hello Would it be a major problematic change to either greatly lessen or outright remove the collection of berries on some tames, they simply get in the way and end up tossed on the ground while farming on them I am just wanting our "Tool tames" to feel like they are meant to actually farm specific resources, as opposed to them all being "berry farmers" with a side ability to farm a resource The three major tames in question with this being an issue.... from my understanding are Rhino Giraffe Elephant You swing twice and end up encumbered and having to open inventory and drop stacks upon stacks of berries so this QOL change - remove their berry collecting - we have many other creatures that can farm those (bull to name one)

    CELERY Listed as a cooking herb in offical atlas wiki. Is Celery a cooking herb or vegetable? It have no seeds thus you can't plant it, but when used in cooking, it don't count as a cooking herb but as vegetable. And I thought every vegetable you use in cooking need to be grown in farming to be used in cooking (aka no wild).

  12. How to irrigate farmland, except using water pipes (there is no fresh water on the island), what tools can be used to irrigate it?
  13. Every farm taht I have only 1 to 4 harvests. Is that intended? Because farming seems pretty useless if it doesn't.

    Crop Plots Bugged?

    Ok so i have specked into farming since the reset and i have figured out its not beneficial to stack crop plots. It also seems like you should be able to get more then 1 crop from each plot. I have tried small and large crop plots. as well as many fertilizer or only 1 fertilizer and constantly tilling them and i am still only getting one of the "vegetable" per plot it seems a bit ridiculous to me that they dont stack up the longer they are down or not collected from. If this meant to be like this. i do enjoy farming in other games and making better food but it will be impossible unless there is a massive farm made to produce resources
