  1. Noticed that as well. I recalled one play thru, my first real episode on SP that I got into after the last big wipe and everything shut down on MP for a week. Kinda enjoy the SP portion now and haven't been back to Multiplayer. But I had taken over one of my first islands and decided to build a small base around an NPC ready made dock that was located there. Spent a considerable time there, build a Brig and a Galleon, and gathered all the resources in and around the base to build and equip them. After they were completed, decided to move the base to a newer set of islands in a different grid. So put as much stuff as I could carry on one ship and moved it. Then fast traveled back to get the other ship, and then boom, I got a discovery notification about a "Hidden Dock" on the dock I had been using the whole time. So I'm guessing you have to do the fast travel thing to activate those other discoveries. I haven't begun to really test that theory out, cause so far its only happened the one time. But my plan for this new game I started is to build a small base on each and every island I take over, and to stock each base with the necessary equipment for when I fast travel to it, then run around the island to see if I can pick up anymore discovery points. I've noticed on this new SP I started that there no longer is a level cap on the Freeport islands, guess that was the fix they implemented after Xbox players were unable to gain any XP at all or something.
  2. Summary: Use what you have already developed. You can achieve a lot with very little effort. For each new possibility create an option to activate/deactivate. This gives you direct feedback on what players think is good/bad. What they use and what they don't. On all the platforms discord, forum etc. you only get feedback from the loud players. Is that the majority? I don't think so. And please maintain a page with all settings you have. In the game, in the Wiki or somewhere else. Detail: Here are my thoughts. The game is good, has great potential. Only the long-term motivation suffers at the moment. Why? I look back on e.g. Rend. The crafting was solved differently there. In order to produce better weapons at a higher level, a certain number of weapons of this kind had to be produced with lower quality. I.e. you want to craft a better bow/gun? Let's say 110% instead of 100%. Then you first have to make 10 bows with 100%. Or another example. You want to build stone walls? Then you must have mined a certain amount of stone to be able to learn this skill at all. It was a somewhat more natural approach as currently in Atlas (or Ark). Here it means find a blueprint and you can make it right away (if you have the resources). (And which is completely illogical. You can only make a certain number. That's like if I can only build 5 cars. Afterwards I am then again too stupid and can only horse-drawn carriages.) Furthermore, this approach has the advantage that when playing in a group, the skills/activities have to be split even more. Vitamins and food. The vitamin system has already been quite defused and certainly still doesn't have too many friends today. Too bad actually. Yes, I admit it. I'd rather let my character die than take care of the food. Why is that so? It's the recipes. For pretty much every recipe, I need special resources that I can't grow myself. So actually it's pretty useless to build a small farm. Everything I need for the recipes, I should be able to grow. For example, why can't I grow olives, lemons, etc.? Should I sail halfway around the world to get the materials? Yes, I do that exactly 1x, so that I have the seeds. Then I want to be able to plant it myself. I have to travel a lot because of the different resources. I don't feel like doing that because of the food. Is this a sailing trip simulation or a game with fun? Speaking of sailing. Much has already been written. More ships etc. Yes it is true. More different types of ships are needed. One that can transport a lot but cannot be armed. One that is fast but weak. One with thick armour but slow. One that can shoot further, one that I can ram with, one that only makes sense in the shore area for defense. Different tactics should be possible. That makes it interesting. If this causes a lot of work for the developers it will be done later. But why can't I apply boost to my ship? That would certainly be relatively easy to implement, a quick win for everyone. Makes a recipe for faster sailing, one that reduces weight... There is already the possibility to shoot faster. When I activate a homemade magic cake, a temporary boost is triggered. Especially the PVP players certainly have a lot of great ideas for this. Discovery Zones and Skill Points. I think that's a bit stupid at the moment. It only leads to stopping briefly at each island, setting foot on it and then immediately sailing on again. And the fact that there can still be different zones on an island makes this system even more confusing and impractical. I don't find it very motivating. And the islands in general. The following situation. There is a coconut on the beach. I let it be picked up by my character. I get cactus. It is definitely a coconut on the beach and not a cactus. I expect then also a coconut in the inventory and not cactus. Unfortunately, it is still the case at the moment that the same thing leads to different resources on different islands. This means that each island must be tested: Is what looks like Resource A really Resource A? I think it's a big mess. On one island the tree gives Strongwood on the other the same tree gives Softwood. I find it chaotic. Tax. I didn't understand that, what should be the principle behind it? Why should I pay tax to someone if I don't get anything in return? Give it all a meaning. For example, if I come into a tax area I have the possibility to pay the required tax or not. (After all, we are pirates here and certainly do not pay taxes voluntarily). And if I pay tax, then it is e.g. not possible to kill or rob me. Yes, this might become a bit complex in the implementation. But as it is currently implemented, quite demotivating. PVP or PVE. This question has been discussed controversially several times. From my point of view, a way should be found to bring these two worlds together. Because the game world is too big to support only one of the two. Why not decide when logging in, do I want PVP or PVE? Players in PVE mode are specially marked. Killing them or stealing their equipment/ship is then not possible. Maybe you can only steal their goods. Or they have to pay tribute... Maybe it would also be good to give players a score about how good/bad they behave and accordingly the player who kills another player gets more/less XP. As I said, this is quite controversial. And either the developers already have a solution in mind or they should discuss it with PVP and PVE players. Animals. There are a lot of different animals. But useful? An elephant is a must for the wood. Or a bear for the fights...but most of it is unfortunately quite useless. I would like to be able to use animals for certain purposes and each animal has also a special meaningful use. The implemented features are currently sometimes too weak to be considered meaningful. And also other features like the Para in Ark. An animal indicates when enemies are approaching. And then wolves, tigers etc. should be able to defend my home independently. Snake? Dead. Player? Dead. Currently they cannot be used well. They either run too far away or you just can't find them anymore. And if they are injured, they don't return to a safe place. The result is always the same. You lose them relatively quickly and the benefit has been small. Breeding/Farming. That I can't breed all animals/plants on all islands...I personally don't think that's a good design decision. Many players want to settle on the same biomes. If the penguin with its temperature regulation could be used here, it would certainly help some. And why can't I also use the penguin with the plants? 3 penguins and I can plant an olive tree in the Arctic. Wouldn't that be fun? Wild Pirate Camps. My current experience with it is somewhat disappointing. Pirate ship sunk (needed about 200 cannonballs). reward? zero. The pirate camp with 2 stone houses cleared. At the end 2x3 explosive barrel. reward? 2 pieces of standard cloths and a little bit of gold. Costs and benefits are out of proportion. Why should I fight these pirates? What should motivate me? No relevant reward. And that you can't hit a pirate at the cannon (he is immune to damage) other player have already complained. That I can only carry a killed pirate...only my animal able to mine him and get armor and weapons? The base for the Wild Pirate Camps is now available. Now this concept does. Fixe the illogical elements and expands it. I have an extremely bad reputation? Send me pirate ships or SoD chasing me. The difficult part, the AI, is already there. Use what you've already developed! The game knows my strengths. It could react to it and make the attacking pirates (or group of pirate ships) accordingly strong. SoD only occur in groups. No more single ships. How about a little more variance? At the latest after the x-th ship it becomes boring. And also these ships should be dependent on the wind. Otherwise it is quite unfair and weird. The same applies to the Treasure Maps. Almost impossible without an animal. Try different strategies? Useless. Only melee weapons still work. At least in the Single Player ...always the same procedure is boring. It should be possible to recruit your crew (NPCs) without freeport. The following happened to me earlier. I got my first NPCs. Then my ship was sunk. New NPCs? Sorry, max. 10. The fact that they were dead in the meantime did not interest the game. I thought it was pretty uncool at that time. Also the repair of the ships was criticized already several times. So I haven't had ships repaired by NPCs for quite some time. Probably I have hired simply lazy / stupid NPCs. Here I think all structures connected to a ship should be repaired automatically as soon as an NPC has no other task. Even on the high seas, as I can do myself. And please indicate if any materials are missing for the repair. And why can't I skill the NPCs for their purpose? The NPC on the sail can then turn the sail faster. The NPC that repairs can work more effectively. On the gun, they shoot faster... And if we already have NPCs. Can't I assign other tasks to them? Cut down trees and bring the resources to the camp? I'm supposed to spend more time at sea, so the activities on land should be done by the NPCs. Every pirate needs a base on land. Therefore, something useful should be done there during my absence. Today they just stand around senselessly. Gold. What can I do with gold? The NPCs pay, yes. But I only have a handful. They can't do much. Buy all resources? I haven't looked at the Freeport lately. At least a few weeks ago not all resources etc. were available to purchase. Seeds? Fruits? Food? Low Level Animals? Standard Weapons? Planks? Trading in Single Player? If there are no other players/dealers that can buy from me. At least on the Freeport I should be able to sell surplus. Much of what I wrote here has already been suggested by others. Try to communicate even better. Take single points. Discuss them (in writing!) with the players e.g. here in the forum. The player have from time to time the easiest and greates ideas. Let them participate in the development. At least give them the feeling. If the players can't bond to the product, you'll lose them. Sorry for this long text.
  3. I thought we were going to get stuck with polar but sure enough we found a 46 pointer that is awesome. Can’t believe nobody scooped it up. It has a huge bay that is very deep all the way up to shore and the scenery is awesome. at first when we noticed it was low desert we were bummed a little and wondered why nobody took it already, then we noticed all the resources and tames that were ok it and thought people must have been crazy not to take it. 3 different kinds of vegetables, 3 fruits, metal, Crystal, coal, SALT(thank god). dont get me started on the tames. Every tame besides a bear and a giraffe and a penguin of course spawn here. Elephants, rhinos, lions, wolves, that olphend thing, scorpions, crocs all of the other little tames. the beaches are pretty flat and the top of the stone enclaves are flat as well. This is going to be an awesome place. Haven’t found a gem yet but I haven’t been through the entire island yet either. Rubies and opals are right next to our lawless area so they won’t be too much of a problem. things are looking up. We have multiple biomes just a couple grids away so that will be helpful. i have a feeling the kraken is H8 right above us right?
  4. Hi. I've been wrestling with this issue for a few days now. An Internet search brought up posts and discussions where people claim to have this issue, but I haven't seen a reliable resolution. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. When I launch Atlas and go to the server list, I can see my server. My friend who lives on Florida cannot see my server in the list. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I did host an Atlas server a year ago or so and we were able to play fine. I've also run Ark, DnL, Conan Exiles, and other games as dedicated servers in the past and also had no issues. Any help is appreciated.   5. I haven’t noticed more than 10-15 minutes of lag out of over 12 hours. the taming is a very good improvement. Just got a couple of tigers. the sailing is actually really fun. Haven’t gone a long distance yet but like I said before I don’t get bored easily. resource gathering is a lot better as well. Way better than ark. Going to try some treasure maps today so I will let you know how that went.
  6. Anyone else having issues with getting the multiplayer player option on Xbox? I was in the game yesterday, then it kicked me out ( I'm used to that). Since, I haven't had the option for multiplayer player, only single player. Even uninstalled and reinstalled.
  7. Hey guys i thought I'd give you some info on the ptr. They have moved powerstone islands and freeports, there is about 500 more discoveries. Pirate encampments are in the game but are suprisingly pirateless. You crash 4 out of 5 grid swaps which almost cost me a galleon. They have added tutorials with video and audio to them. Change of fonts for more legible reading. The whole graphical design of the game seems to have improved with added textures and better looking seas. Cats are at freeports and take milk or fish to tame, they can hunt rodents bugs (gives keratinoid) and fish. I haven't been able to get to a trench yet so im unsure about sea horses. All in all the look of the game is alot better and i enjoy the new look. I would have loved to see pirates at the encampments to test that all out. Cats are a good addition if your looking for keratins easily (haven't got the to be able to get fish yet) i cannot say if this is going to bring people back to the game or not but it does look better in alot of ways.
  8. Uh no. The op Elmo and lordkhan were talking about it before I showed up. I commented because the wipe was already brought up. I was just engaging in their conversation. I see an agenda on the other side as well because they just had to pop in and start an argument lol. and as far as twitter goes jat actually did a good job on his last post. He responded to about 5 people which is pretty damn good. now instead of everyone asking about a release date everyone is asking about the wipe. Including some pc players that say a wipe would bring more pc people back. the wipe is a very hot issue right now and everyone wants to know. The one thing I can tell you is I haven’t seen one person say not to wipe on Twitter, that sentiment seems to be forum exclusive. i even made a wipe thread on Reddit and it seems everyone there wants a wipe too. I haven’t gotten onto discord yet but maybe the same who knows. edit: it seems as though people are starting to do their research now though.
  9. Completely disagree. Respectfully, but still completely disagree. Not wiping would be the absolute worst business decision possible. as boomer and others have pointed out(which I think they are correct) a lot of console players haven’t done their research and almost definitely don’t have a clue there was even one wipe let alone the upcoming one that will happen on release(in my opinion, there you go boomer ) having said that I know they definitely haven’t done as much research as I have and I am basically demanding a wipe. i really don’t think Xbox players will care about how many wipes might happen when it comes to them starting off at complete disadvantage. sure, pc players already have the experience advantage. Who cares? They need to be level 1 just like I will be. not having a wipe will very easily and completely affect their sales. It is that simple.
  10. Certainly agree with that. When this first happened I almost posted in defense of the devs, after all, a piece of software of this size is an incredibly complicated beast. But! Its been nearly a week now since I made a bug report, and since many other people alerted to the problem, and yet I haven't seen any acknowledgement from the devs whatsoever! That is indeed very poor. I dont know enough about the game to be sure, but it looks to me like the servergrid is missing. As far as I know the servergrid is responsible for inserting the islands etc? Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Using the servergrid editor I can create a servergrid.json file, but I dont know where it should be placed, does anyone know the answer? I'm talking about the single player/non-dedicated server version.
  11. The thing is I am pretty sure after two and a half years we are at the point of whoever was going to buy it has bought it. A sale won’t do too much and they have already had sales before. There has probably already been about a million people that have bought the game but will just simply never come back regardless of what the devs do. they screwed the pooch way too hard for people. At this point I wouldn’t even bother giving the devs credit even if they did something really good. I would just say “ok, you actually did your job one time, I haven’t forgotten the 100’s of times you didn’t” and many people will be the same one. There is no reason to give them any positive feedback at this point because they don’t deserve it. this game has already run its course and it is in the decay stage. It will never reach even 5000 on player counts. Nowhere close to it which even that is a tiny playerbase that no company should be proud of. ark was a success and atlas is a failure.

  13. The people that have been here since the start will know very well all a claim tower is is the same as they used flags at launch to gain a circle. If you are going down this route they should have restricted how many you can have whether you have 1 person or 100. As for the automated structures like warehouse etc, what a waste they are restricting people in putting them down? That is not improving the game that is forcing people away. They are wanting more people at sea hence the automation and yet if someone has a structure down you can't place it, they are working backwards devs haven't got a clue. They have lost the majority of the player base, if I was them I'd be thinking of scrapping PvE altogther and just focus on PvP because they are not upto the job. The game will never be how it was portrayed at launch. At least I can say I was there at the 40k player mark, didn't last long though did it?
  14. Yep file integrity is fine. Display is an RX 5700 XT Haven't played with drivers - I'll do that, but I'm prone to believing this is a common memory leak. Multiple people on a boat will all crash simultaneously while zoning sometimes. This particular stack trace hasn't come up since the latest patch, so they may have looked at it. I do still get this one about twice a day.
  15. Anyone of the questions(elongated requests), please: -Stealing ships is nearly impossible, is there any plans on decreasing the timers to be the same as the island claiming? With how the game is set up, just the gameplay of sinking ships is the only satisfaction you're going to get. (unless they haven't popcorned everything onboard) -Any plans for rewards of sinking enemy ships to the player, that isn't decided on the receiver end(popcorning everything onboard)? Like at least 5 random bps of the enemy's ship parts and 10% to 25% of the ships XP taken. -If you plan on adding tames, can they only be shoulder tames with buffs or can they only be creatures that are only killable and not tameable which drop some kind of useful loot? No one wants more tames in a pirate game. Players, ships and the systems that bring those two closer should be the major focus. -Will there be a mechanic for stealing tames? Like if you manage to capture enemy tames or have non-allied tames on your island they would start to declaim in 1-3 days if they haven't been near the owners in close proximity. Good breed lines cost time and effort, burning them with oil jars or grenadeding from rooftops shouldn't be the end of them. -Freeports need to have more use than a hiding hole in ship combat. Global trade system that goes between freeports, Bounties on players with rewards ranging from gold to crafted items, Gambling all kinds items with other players, Stoping points to repair (pay x amount of gold to get your ship repaired), recruitment sites... reducing the amount of freeports to bring companies in a sector closer would be something nice. The freeport grids shouldn't just disable PVP entirely, maybe 15min of PVP after joining or docking at the freeports would give the boost. Are there any plans on improving freeports in this manner? -Will there be any new ships, sails, structures or anything other than tames and skins? Skins shouldn't be the major icon of major updates but weekly included in weekly updates. Nothing is changing in months but the accumulation of resources, constant issues, and decreasing players. Push more things into the PTR and bring back the voting system to those who have helped test, which they would have to test. No one is gonna download 10gb for a ptr, just have a large group players vote for a singular relayer to the devs. Much easier if current players bring on ideas than those who lost it against the bugs of the game.

  17. I am getting this same crash. It happens when I hit "exit to main menu." I am using three mods, so I thought maybe that could be what's wrong. They are MultiVitamin, Custom Item Stacks, and Atlas Architect (v0.7). I haven't tried to verify the integrity of my file cache and I haven't tried it without mods.
  18. Hi I'm new to forums, each time I load in on Xbox after 2mins I get kicked, i changed my Ark server to Atlas hoping it was just multi player but no it's the same haven't been able to get on for 4 days guess I'm going to lose everything yet again. Is anyone eles having the same thing happen.
  19. Hello! I have already submitted a bug forum about this issue but here’s the story. Its a pretty straight forward story, we hatched 4 razor teeth and began crashing hard core non stop and continue to do so. We haven't had a single issue with our island until now. 2 of us are on the Xbox series X and one is on a Xbox one x. is anyone else experiencing this issue? It could be related to the recent patch and Xbox mess up. Maybe it’s just remains of the previous issues they fixed, I’m not sure. But it was perfectly timed with the hatching of those eggs.
  20. I have a friend who still plays and enjoys it but I haven't got back into it still uninstalled. Sad to see it going in the wrong direction, it is still based on big groups and pushes the smaller companies out or solo. As I understand the more people you have the more claim towers you can put down? How is that good for solo? My friend was originally in a company with a few players, had 6 towers down but could not put any automation structures down at all, it is stupid. Why limit the automated structures like warehouse and mines etc? Someone slaps 1 down you are stuffed. If you are going down that route give everyone the option to place at least 1 of each down and let it feed from the other structures that other people have to share if that needs to be the case. Nope I won't be back anytime soon, I will never say never as they may change again in another year with a wipe but for now I'm out. Not sure what the numbers are now but I won't be surprised to hear it has reduced again already.

  22. I don't think I've ever edited a .json file, so this was my first attempt at trying, AFIK. However, it seems there are way too many "sublevels" that was mentioned. It looks kind of too complicated and way too much work. I wish SOTD would only spawn in single ships, at least for a while, in single player mode. However, I've seen another similar post and it seems that SOTD have been nerfed and can be solo'd even when they're a fleet. I haven't yet gotten any crew members or built a bigger ship yet, so right now they're extremely intimidating. I built my first sloop, which sucked, I had to go from steering to adjusting the sail back and forth. This proved to me that I needed a crew member for help. I also didn't have any weapons on that ship. I deleted that save though and started fresh. I haven't made it to that point yet. Luckily, I've found lots of gold on my island hopping, so I could probably afford some crew, just have to find them.

  24. We set up a warehouse and market and secured a few trade routes, mostly our hay for hemp. Everything was working fine for a while. Eventually we noticed that our hay was being removed from the warehouse, but we weren't receiving any hemp or gold, and our "Trade Ship" count was steadily increasing: 40, 46 48... The only thing that changed between working and not-working was ongoing base building that eventually blocked the market's LoS to the ocean. We figured that this was probably the issue (even though there was no indication in the market interface or logs that there was a problem), so we demo'd walls and restored market LoS. We waited a few hours and there was no change. The next step was to demo and replace the market (this was done late and I haven't checked to see if that fixed the problem). So, has anyone experienced anything similar, and if so did you fix the problem? Or does anyone know of some cheat/hack that forces one-sided trades (I ask because the issue was primarily with one company's trades)? Edit: We confirmed that trades are working now with the new market and new trade partners. After a conversation with folks in official Atlas discord, the consensus seems to be that our trading partner's warehouse is gone (blown up or demo'd). If that's the case, that a pretty significant bug - destroyed warehouses continue to draw mats from trading partners. But I'm not unconvinced that the issue was with breaking market LoS to the ocean.
  25. Yes, when I used to see it (many months ago), it would only happen when someone was destroying something, not just out of the blue. Knock on virtual wood, we haven't seen it since then, but we also haven't been renovating anything at our base. I am pretty sure that you have to reach a critical mass of pieces within a certain radius before you start seeing this happen, but once you do, it will probably happen alot in the exact same spots every time. I am pretty sure it is either related to attach point chains, or duplicated object IDs. It is almost certainly exacerbated by some kind of optimization between play sessions or server restarts. I still see a somewhat similar problem with losing foundation support on Galleons if I just leave the Galleon alone for a day.
