  1. Understood, but long experience in gaming with games that have regular updating like MMO's has taught that when there is an update, unless large numbers of people are complaining of issues like this, they nearly inevitably wind up being an issue originating with the user's hardware or software. Sometimes the update pushes a particular component past a point where it could function without issue, and the update causes the issue to manifest, but unless large numbers of players are reporting having the issue, the chances are overwhelming that the core problem lies in user hardware or software.
  2. Given that you are almost the only person experiencing this, it means the issue is 99.9% likely on your end.
  3. *head asplodes* I don’t know what this link is, but I approve of Steve Buscemi avatars. Rock on sir.
  4. So as a cook I’ve noticed something that seems odd about cooking and vitamin C. All of the other vitamins have an easily obtainable simple upgrade to the base foods. For B and D there is prime meat and prime fish meat respectively, both of which boost the bar substantially without raising food very high. D also has milk as a pretty easy option to get your hands on, which raises the vitamin bar while restoring thirst but not food. Each of these is useful tools for managing vitamins relative to food and hunger. Vitamin A has a wealth of options from potatoes and all sorts of other veggies to berry tea and Ale, both of which are drinks that boost A without affecting food. Yet when it comes to vitamin C, there is eating berries and then nothing except recipes which buff multiple vitamins. All of these boost food by at least 25 so they are less useful for managing without hitting overeating penalty. My suspicion here is that beeey tea was supposed to boost C but put into the game boosting A incorrectly as an oversight as it’s curent use leaves a hole and makes neither thematic nor gameplay sense. @Jatheish any chance we could get a comment on whether berry tea is WAI or not? If it is are there plans to expand cooking with a recipe that will put vitamin C management in line with the others or are we meant to carry berries everywhere we go?
  5. Pro tip: you can pin code lanterns to levers to make the levers a light switch. By doing this you can place light switches near doors or wherever that can turn on or off any number of lanterns at once.
  6. Making the claims the same shape as the grid itself...I dunno, sounds pretty crazy to me.
  7. Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Definition of the average online gamer posting to a forum: doing the same thing over and over then demanding developers change the game so that the way they want to do it produces the desired result.
  8. As a cook and an Ark veteran, one thing they have changed about farming but which can catch you off guard is that some plants can be grown as crops and others cannot. Combine this with the fact that no biome supports all crops either wild or growable and cooks should be aware that the number of things you can actually cook without doing either significant trading or exploration is extremely limited, so don’t spend points going deep into this tree until you’ve secured a lot of ingredients.
  9. And here is the essence of the problem with the Doom and Gloom mentality. This statement shows an underlying assumption that the appropriate comparison is Steam’s top 40 games, anything less is regarded as a doomed game when the reality is steam supports literally thousands of games through its portal. Regarding a game as failing when it fails to compare favorably only to the top 1% of games on a platform is a pretty unrealistic expectation. Atlas had a horrible launch. It has not had an especially promising fist six weeks playerbase wise. It may never be a Steam Top 40 game. There is a vast difference between these realities and doomed, unless you follow the “wisdom” of Ricky Bobby’s dad: If you’re not first you’re last.
  10. Game wikis are generally built from the ground up by players themselves. You should expect them to be incomplete. You should also consider editing them to add the information you found.
  11. The hokey pokey. Obviously. That is what it’s all about. Just remember to turn yourself around. Also GrapeCard being GrapeCard while you can currently put your right foot in, taking your right foot out causes the rest of your body to despawn. Putting your left foot in is glitched and sometimes puts all tames on attack my target. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take your left foot out. There have been reports it demolishes all company owned structures within render range. Shaking it all about is expected to be in an upcoming patch. Wildshot is saying March so I’m sure we’ll have it by 4th of July. probably.
  12. 1/10 False advertising. This isn’t an ode. It isn’t even a poem. You’re getting a negative review on steam. I’m reporting you to the.... somebody.... for... something.
  13. So is all gaming, if all you care about is utility. If the Op has fun doing it, who are you to say his time is wasted?
  14. Yes but my opinion is the important one. The one that matters. Boomer's maxim of relative importance: The constant me is always greater than the variable you.
  15. *wonders if the two pyramids will wind up being Atlas's first ingame tourist destination where pirates take their kids to see the "Great pyramids of respectful disagreement"*
  16. Even though I disagree that the game is doomed, I wholeheartedly support this notion for a couple reasons. One, you are putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to what you have to say. Building a giant pyramid to communicate your message takes a lot more effort than just banging out a post on the forums. Two it’s a creative approach to getting your message across and shows you’re not just another mindless whinger following the herd but someone who thinks about things creatively. Three I think changing the medium has a chance to have your message make more impact. I have two requests. Can you please include the phrase “ we apologize for the inconvenience” somewhere on the pyramid? And also obviously post screenings when you’re done.
  17. I am my company’s cook. Which meant I was the first one to make dyes and then craft the spray painter. I’ve experimented a fair bit with how different colors look on ship hulls, docks and stone. Almost all of it looks like poop, mostly because almost all of it looks like you did your paint job during the Nixon administration. When I paint a thing, I want it to look like I just painted it. Fading over time especially on hulls would be hella cool imo, but pre baked 50 years of fade not so much. Those sails are full of win.
  18. This sounds suspiciously reasonable. Are you sure you belong here?
  19. Best. Use. of small font. Ever. You almost snuck that thing right by me though admittedly I am still lying in bed and pre coffee, so brain not wurk gud. But yes Iam looking forward to the Feb update next month and hoping it doesn’t come out around st Patty’s day so I don’t have to choose between too much green beer and Atlas. I’m def most excited for the submarine.
  20. My great grandfather said the same thing, yet mysteriously died in the trenches during the Great War.
  21. Well, since you asked, Mr. Ambrose Bierce is happy to provide an answer: Marriage, noun. The state or condition of a community consisting of a master, a mistress and two slaves, making in all, two. from The Devil's Dictionary* *it's not in the game yet
  22. Hitching posts exist in Ark so I think we should expect to see them in Atlas at some point.
  23. Ooof. Yeah, problem. Maybe info show takes merges into account? Dunno. Tricky.
  24. I bet you're the kind of person who will eat a sub at Subway that isn't made by a certified sandwich artist. Heretic!
