Tamed a Wolf right after the update. I can confirm this glitch and that re-logging in fixes it temporarily.

Yes it should but not when you die to any thing in the world, lvl50 full armor and gets kill by a wolf when you head shot it for 90% and then die in the time to reload :-P. So go with picke or mace then you run like your in mud and the fighting animation is so slow your knock out the way or the target just moves lol

Hey. After todays patch the aggro range on Manta Ray is just hilarious. Dipping into water to avoid wolf, and instantly swarmed by 5+ Manta Rays, no matter where you dive. They were a bit sleepy before the patch, but this patch made them aggro too much.

So I read the forums, and do like to try new things, so we decided to use a very light sloop, built for speed, to explore with. Might as well, as you simply are not going to win a gun fight against a Brigantine, or Galleon. Cheap ship, with minimal investment in the ship. Well, as it turns out, those small ships suck for exploring. You see, we were hitting each island we came to, and going ashore to see what the island had growing on it. Problem was the islands with the Crocs. They are everywhere. On some islands, we couldn't find a place to get ashore because the Crocs were simply everywhere. So then we get to another island, and it too has many Crocs. We were just about to say, forget it, as we cruised slowly by, about 200 to 300 meters offshore, when I dropped my spyglass and noticed one of the crocs making a bee line for us. I caught it just as it left shore. We were so far out, I wasn't even sure it was coming at us, but decided to warn the person at the helm. Before we could even get the sails fully open, the Croc was on us, and knocked me from the ship. No more small ships for me. Brigantine and above at all times. So before I could get back on, it killed me, and then killed my partner. When I spawned back on, a second Croc was attacking the ship. We both lost all of our gear, weapons and armor. We made a couple of attempts to rescue our stuff, but it wasn't happening with 3 Crocs, who simply wouldn't leave the area, even when we had to wait to spawn for over a minute. Yeah, nobody on the ship for over a minute, but the Crocs kept at it, and would not leave the area. The thing is, we literally had no chance. We weren't right up by the shore, and once the Croc aggro'd to us, there was nothing we could do. I did shoot at it with the Carbine, but what should have been a direct hit, did not register. Same for the shot the guy on the helm took. It's as if the water is made of Kevlar. So it feels like your failure is hard coded into the game. The crocs should not be spaced out all along the shore, leaving you no way to get to shore, and they should not be aggro'ing to a ship so far away from them. Many of these islands are very small. So the way the Crocs act like Terminator defenders of the island is absurd. Hard Coded failure is also the way I would describe the relationship between your tames, and an Alpha. I won't even take a tame out, when 3 tame bears could not even handle one Alpha Pig. What are a few tames going to do against an Alpha Lion, Wolf, Tiger, or Snake? Nothing but die. This makes taming pointless at this time.

Walked out of base and hopped on a bear with a cargo cart only to find there was an alpha wolf outside. Tried to run, but the bear was killed. However instead of me being killed next I had a frozen screen and then found myself in the ocean in them exact center of my region. (Home is in the far west) I had to be rescued off a small sliver of land before I froze to death. I assume it glitched me under the map somehow and this was the games response.

I can obviously see this has you a bit tilted...but attempting to believe your sub level 40 tame is -ever- going to stand a remote chance against a 100-200+ Alpha is just insane in it's own right. Low level tames are weak- they level just like you do. Did you not play Ark? Or any other game that has level requirements? It's not "holier than thou bullshit"- it's being experienced vs being a novice that is seemingly way out of his depth, and now just getting emotional after suffering so much loss. My company has 10 members, 4 of which are active. We're far from a mega, we're just not naive. Feed your tames and keep them locked away. They don't ever have to do anything but eat and they will level. If you argument was "My level 100 Wolf gotten ripped apart in 2 seconds by a 112 alpha" I would sympathize, but this is not even remotely the case.

My General experience (remove alpha's!)
Captain Jack Shadow replied to Zwits's topic in General Discussion
Bullshit dude. Drop the Holier Than Thou Bullshit. You have to travel to get to things. You don't always own the area, thus you can't always build on that land. So how the fuck are you going to build traps near a resource area that is owned by somebody else? A bear, or Elephant isn't very fast. An Alpha Lion, or Wolf is. And you can plan all you want, and even scout ahead, but that Alpha can come over that hill at any time, and your tame is done. It happens, and there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe if you are a Mega Company, it's different. Even then, what the hell are you going to do...put a trap every 50 meters? Good games challenge you. This is not that. I love a challenge. I don't mind the Alphas while I am on foot as much, because at least I can rise to that challenge. Tames are a waste of time. A liability, with Alphas everywhere. but you are right. Mods have been fixing bad games for decades. You don't have to use unofficial, and mods to make the game easy. You CAN also use them to fix what is broken, and use mods that add better, more unique challenges. Been modding games for years. Mods actually made Skyrim more fun, AND more challenging, with things like Frostfall, etc...Maybe Modders will save this game too. -
My General experience (remove alpha's!)

I have set up on different kinds of Islands, and one thing I have learned is that not all Islands are the same. We like the one we are on now...it's big, and has many tall mountains, and lot's of pine trees, but those mountains create valleys that funnel all the predators into a very small area of the island...the valleys themselves, which is where you and your tames need to traverse. You simply cannot move from the middle of the island, to the port area, without spotting at least one Alpha Wolf or Lion. Even the Alpha Horse is a problem when on a tame, because it is easy to startle one of the other horses, which causes the alpha to attack. I don't even bother with Tames, because they are a liability. I can avoid Alphas most of the time, if I am on foot, by staying near the water, or staying on the high rocks as much as possible. But, if you are traversing the island, and are not on the high rocks, or near water, and one aggros to you, you have no shot. Just respawn and get back to your stuff if you can. You have no offensive ability vs an Alpha, without a strong defense, and the only defenses I have found are water to break the aggro and get away...high rocks to do the same, and traps, which are stating, so useless while traversing an island. At the area we gather our fiber, we have small gates set up with enough room between the poles for us to get through, but not the predators. If an Alpha attacks, I just get in there and wait for it to break aggro, and go away. Doesn't take too long, normally. -

Captain Jack Shadow replied to Zwits's topic in General Discussion
And how the fuck are you going to do that when you are out on your bear, trying to get some fiber, which should be everywhere, but is only in a few areas on the island...the main one being an intersection of valleys that funnel predators into that area? The Alpha aggros to you from long range, and is faster than your tame. You see it, and it sees you, and your and your tame are dead...the end. Yes, when I am near our port, or base, we have a taming pen by both, and I have campfires in both. If I see an Alpha, I light the fires, and kite it into the pen, close the doors, and let the fires do a lot of the work for me. If you are out on a tame, even with a few extra along for protection, you are dead if an Alpha Lion or Alpha Wolf aggro to you, and that WILL happen at times, before you even know it has happened. It's hard coded failure. So I don't mess with tames. They are pointless with Alphas in the game. -
Nice PVE server that random people can sink ur Gallon
Linea replied to Mightyduck's topic in General Discussion
for now it would be best if ships dont sink on pve for whatever reason while anchored. can be shot to pieces, a wolf chewing a plank away, overweight, or exceeding the crew limit from players or seagulls landing on the ship and stuff. as long as its anchored it does not completely sink (atleast for 2 days or so, it must be possible to not log into the game for a day), of course as soon as you lift the anchor it will sink unless you fixed the problems in advance. one problem remains on pve that players can jump on your ship while you are online and on the open sea, you cant remove them thou pve rules. should have a remove neutral players switch for now that throws them into the sea. this would allow for the time to fix things up with the game. -
Love to see this for the northern/southern polar zones: a sled pulled by a tamed wolf (only usable in snowy climate).

My General experience (remove alpha's!)
AreYouReady2Die replied to Zwits's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I get that, not saying I didn't spend 2 hours literally last night trying to retrieve my body last night because a alpha tiger and 6 wolves we're camping my body, and then it was a alpha wolf with 5 other wolves doing it, and then several other packs.. ugh -
The island i am on, spawns so many wolves / crocs / lions / snakes its insane. I built up top where i thought was safe, but it does not seem like there is a neutral spawn / predator spawn system and it is all shared. It is always a surprise what i will get next spawning right next to my base because building does not block spawns at all. The only peace i get is if i lead all wolves & lions that spawn right next to my base off the mountain and let them wonder around below until they eventually spawn again. If i kill everything, which isn't too difficult unless there are multiple lions makes them spawn much faster than me moving them to a different location. I would love for them to make some adjustments or make building prevent nearby spawns so there is at least a safe area on islands. Constantly having to watch my back for a teleporting lions that rip me off my wolf or the numerous alpha wolfs that spawn that i have no choice but to lock my animals up & shoot ranged weapons at it for several minutes to be able to continue to play the game is getting old.

I made the mistake of leaving crew on the deck of a Schooner and came back the next day to find it had been sunk by a normal croc. I then proceeded to rebuild the ship, only to rubber band (lag) into a sandbar and see it fly up into the air and immediately sink. I've also lost a ship to an alpha wolf who climbed on the deck and chewed all of the structures up as I attempted to respawn. And I lost a ship to a server transition where a SotD sunk the ship before I'd even loaded in. I've lost 0 ships to PvP and 4 to bugs in the environment. Not exactly happy about it.

Tames NERFED 40% WTF! DEAL BREAKER!
Herasea replied to Tiberius_theron's topic in General Discussion
No we're not, but when the game spawns 10 or so predators around you with huge aggro ranges when you just want to gather, a lion drags you of your mount, a snake it torpin the hell out of you and they're all between level 1 - 5, I would like to think my lvl 50 wolf or bear can actually fight back and not get destroyed. Don't get me wrong, i love that animals are dangerous even when you're high level, but it makes no sense nerfing tames when the spawn/dmg/amount of predator mobs is so high, throw alpha into the equation and tames haven't got a chance -
Yes yes, we did. its all in my story. I know it's a big wall of text but if you actually bothered to read it (atleast the last bit) you would know that we did that. but you still fail to see my point. The point is that you can not battle or outplay or counter them. you can only avoid them or trap them. but that doesnt give you your mount back after it snook up on you, or a fair chance for that matter. and that is ridiculous. Our island is barren and resources are scattered and rare. you can't make a taming pen every 20 meters just to lure alpha wolves in, thats insane. and you would still lose your mount, because no way in hell you will be fast enough to trap it when it comes from behind while you are farming wood/stone we. (and you are not on your mount, as you cant farm wood etc on your wolf/lion) I opened our gate, tried to close it from my mount and the game unmounted me (apparently i was too far from the gate on mount), so i walk 3 steps to close the gate and my wolfmount gets attacked by an alpha. tell me how you would trap it in that situation or how i could have countered it there sir, so I wouldnt have lost my mount i spent 2 days on to get and level. You did not prove it wrong.

All in title , we just tried to tame differents wild animal such as wolf , elephant , all lvl 30 . They get the bonus exp from the efficiency after tame , but once tamed they dont get any exp , its blocked 0.0/10 to pass a level . Really frustrating to find a " perfect " level and can't exp it . Would be nice if it could be fixed , i talked with others people and they got same problem , so im not the only one who get that bug . ( hope you understand my english is not perfect :) )

I don't understand why people hate on the game like this.
Vhalkyrie replied to mrtrollham's topic in General Discussion
I rolled my own dedi server. It is only 1x1, but it is plenty for me to experiment with the options I want. It's actually quite fine as a solo experience - I can explore the islands freely, and it feels a bit like Skyrim with ships! I've been using the npc crew to get around, and after getting a few predator tames, I don't have much issue exploring. I can dial down the number of spawns, so I don't run into some of the overpopulations of alphas and insane wolf packs on the official servers. Setting up the dedi is a little bit of work, but there are great guides and vids available already. I was able to get mine running after an evening, and now I'm just tweaking the settings for my preferences (I don't like the taming speed on the official, so I set mine way faster). If you don't have the interest to roll your own, then check out the discord channels and see if you can find someone else's setup that will suit you. -
I'm flabbergasted by the decision to lower tame hp and damage when a level 1-4 non-alpha wolf can kill something 10 times its level, let alone an alpha on a newbie beach that's never lower than 5 times the max wild and frequently 8-10 times the max wild (and I've noticed a distinct bias towards low levels in all species). Adding alphas at something ridiculous like 1% or 5% of wild spawns just makes beaches a slaughterfest. My crewmate officially stopped playing today when his Schooner was pushed onto a sandbar and destroyed when attacked by multiple non-alpha crocs. I agree with him. Why bother playing if all your stuff is just going to go up in smoke so easily? I've moved to a quiet, private 2x2 server with only about 30 29 active players. Without the griefing and toxicity it's been a much more pleasant experience but multiple deaths is seconds to low level non-alpha wolves and lions, despite wearing full plate armor is going to result in my server dropping to 28 pretty soon. Regular mobs are ridiculously OP, let alone alphas. They're just absurd.

"I watched some of the fight everyone is referencing. Not picking sides here at all but at one point they had a wolf swimming towards a boat with like 10+ arrows in it and it was being shot with guns and cannons...it turned around and ran off...that seems a bit OP eh? " Being frank, when wild animals can have 5-10 arrows in them without a problem and they're unleveled. . .

I have the same problem ! i can not build two wooden wall because i have 5 crocodile , 3,4 wolf , 10 vulture , 1 or 2 lion , 10 snake that respawn around my claim all the time i dead 1min after respawn or i can respawn ....

Loading an animal paint (atleast on a wolf) causes disconnects from the server.
-
Well, crocs are slow at land, snakes aswell, the difference with the wolfes is they have a knockback each hit, + deals fairly good dmg. If you have 2 wolfes on you, you're basically fucked since they knock you back hard with each hit and your bones break in less than 10 hits, and you need atleast 6-7 hits to kill a wolf with a melee weapon, thus impossible to counter. Sure you can snipe them down from afar, but that's really time consuming if there's more than 5-6 wolfes, + they respawn quick if it's a "fast" spawn area.

I'm playing PVP on EU, I'm just saying that the current creatures in the game is completely unbalanced. Makes no sense at all that a wolf completely annihilate a dude in full plate set.
