  1. the New claim system may benefit with some of these ideas. a repair structure is now essentially the new claim flag. it has a smaller radius than the original land claim flag (10x10 foundations max) if a structure is placed outside of a repair structure radius it will decay within 2-3 hours ( to prevent pillaring) Make the cost of upkeep for the base 20-50 % of the cost of the entire structure in that radius. This will turn building materials into a commodity that players are willing to trade or raid for. Or a company will need to look at having someone who doesn’t mind farming. This will also encourage companies to tame or trade for creatures like elephants, rhinos, bears, giraffes. Giving breeders and tamers greater importance. Additionally a tamer/ breeder with high intelligence should have a bonus % buff on a tame they took part in breeding/taming if using the preferred food for that tame (turnips for rhinos, honey for bears etc) A repair structure with no materials in it will reduce make everything in its radius decay in 24 hours. The repair structure can have a building blocked radius (turn this on or off as the owner sees fit) anyone who has been authorised on that repair structure can still build in the radius. repair structures can be upgraded to be more efficient ( -2.5 % materials upkeep cost , maxing out to 30% of total structure cost) repair structures can not be demolished by a claim owner in the 12 hour period. The claim owner must pay 500 gold (via radial menu) to “buy” the structure within that 12 hour period. Essentially this will will turn a repair structure into the building’s “claim flag” I would expect a cap on how many repair structures a company can build on someone else’s claim to prevent greifing ( maybe 10 max to start) with the ability to buy more title deeds from a Freeport ( which is an independent third party from the island owner) for roughly 2000-5000 gold. These titles/deeds are items which are kept in a repair structure and add to the number of repair structures you can build on someone else’s land. They only add to the cap for that island. You will need to buy more for other islands. So this way anyone can build anything they want anywhere (as long as it’s not in radius of someone else’s repair structure. But those structures will decay very quickly if it isn’t in range of their own repair structure with materials in it. This should help fight pillar spamming meta.
  2. Calling a guy that has the ability to delet your stuff within a 12 hour period a “junior gm” is reaching a bit imo. The tax system is also no big deal. Farming is really easy. How is a island owner gonna know if your company isn’t paying their taxes anyway? Are they giving each company their own folder in the tax bank for the island. Does the island owner need to sit down everyday to do an audit on everyone living there? If an island owner is a jerk then I suggest people move. Or raid them if on pvp. If they are decent (even 30% tax isn’t really that bad imo due to how easy it is to farm) then it’s in a tenants best interest to stay and recruit for your island. It’s in your interest to help defend your island during a raid window if you have a good landlord. If they are an arsehole then just help the raiders out. Just my opinion. Also I hope they make the repair structures have a relatively small radius ( maybe a 10x10 foundation radius max) to counter pillaring. I hope buildings decay in 3 hours if they are outside of a repair structure’s radius. This would effectively turn the repair structure into the new claim flag if there is a building blocked radius in that area. Much like a tool cupboard in rust.
  3. Do you understand what you just posted my dude? Read through your own post again and really think about the pattern you just established in your own words. It is the pattern all games follow as far as hype is concerned. If you look at battle metrics for any game with a wipe system you will find the exact same pattern. Yes, atlas had a shaky launch. Many players were scared off by that. Many came back or put the game down saying that they will come back after it is more polished. The devs are polishing it as we speak. At this very moment. If I were to load up a copy of atlas in the state it was in on day one of launch right now and play it I would say it needs a lot of work too. However the devs have put in a shit tonne of work and it really shows. The 55k player count was largely early game hype. It happens to many games. The bad reviews on steam are generally from the period when it launched. They do not reflect the game in its current state at all. I challenge you to look at the negative reviews on steam and say those issues weren’t or addressed by the devs to some capacity. Either the devs have stated they are, have or will be changing x,y or z in updates. My personal confidence in the devs greatly rose after they admitted they made a game that was too hardcore as far as PvP was concerned. The majority of atlas players were or are ark players. In general (generally speaking!) that means they don’t enjoy games like rust( it is brutal and that is its niche and that is totally okay) where you are constantly raided and you can’t farm because some toxic 12 yr old is waiting to f’ck you up for a meme because they saw a streamer do it. This scared a lot of ark players in the beginning because a lot of the players in the beginning were from many other games like rust etc. the PvP brutality curve went up significantly from ark to the beginning or atlas because of this. The devs have addressed this and are changing the game mechanics to cater towards less in game hostility as a whole and a fairer playing field for all play styles. As a PvP mega company player from rust I can recognise this and I commend the devs on their descision to foster an ethos in their game that is fun and encourages more team work (the new claim system, raid windows, upkeep economy) i believe many people are currently sitting around waiting for the wipe. This means they are either playing atlas (5500 players) or they are playing/doing something else. This is expected and should not be conflated with failure.
  4. Agreed. I really like cosmetics aswell. I’d like similar workshop support to RUST in that sense at some point during atlas development (once they iron out some of the core mechanics. I would love for the team to pick lore friendly skins created by workshop contributors and sold through steam like what Rust has done. The rust skins are purely cosmetic and are in no way pay to win. Additionally they have become something of a commodity on the community market. I haven’t paid real money for a game or a dlc on steam in a long time as I get a lot of revenue from trading these skins. So when people were complaining about the fact that atlas was meant to be a dlc for ark or whatever it never even phased me in the slightest as I just sold a skin I bought a year ago for $2.50 and just bought atlas. No problems. I’m sure I’m not the only one either. With the potentially high player capacity and the prospect of roleplayer culture on atlas the skins market could be huge. Much bigger that anything rust could do side by side in the long run. I love the figure heads and the cosmetics the devs are adding in the upcoming few patches aswell. They will add some character to different groups on a game where you lose a lot of identity due to the high amount of players. I can’t wait to see what the devs have in store.
  5. Factorio is awesome! Id like to play Conan exiles but I heard it’s pretty much dead. Additionally there is an ARK mod called survival plus. Nerd parade is playing it atm (in his primal series) I never much liked him before as a creator but the mod is worth dusting Ark off for a play. It adds a deep crafting tree to ark that I would like Atlas to take some pointers from in the future to promote teamwork and trading.
  6. Well. Hellllllllooooo. Do you want my input on this one? I have some on your points above. I can just sit this one out if you like...... patiently waiting for your reply Besty....
  7. Lol I’m gonna just randomly buy war tokens, declare war and not show up to fight hahaha! If another mega company is toxic I will even put gold towards another couple of companies to buy war tokens. That mega will be on full alert everyday if I can manage it. I cant wait. This is gonna be hilarious.
  8. Lol enjoy your f r e d o m s bro cookie. Your a visionary.
  9. 100 % agreed man. The test server would be very helpful imo. I wouldn’t even mind if the test server was “closed” with different players being picked at random from a volunteer list to receive passwords throughout EA to play test it. Maybe a password protected PvP and pve server with a dev in there giving players “daily goals” to achieve and give feedback on directly to grapeshot. I understand the limitations of this idea would mean the devs would get a very specific set of data but at the same time it may address some of the very specific bugs and oversights pre update. Many of the threads in these forums outline specific problems the community is negative and at times very cynical of. It would be great if someone with the word “play tester” in their profile name could jump in and give some input as a subject matter expert. Enjoy the game everyone. Jat is reading these threads and has commented on a few topics. The devs are doing a great job. We just need to chill and let it all happen. I’m sure whatever is coming will have positives and negatives. We just need to give concise feedback with less finger pointing and melodrama.
  10. Lol if people keep complaining I hope the devs decide to wipe weekly A lot of melodrama and calling people trolls in these threads. ITS EA. People need to chill out with the negativity towards the devs. Also DAWN OF MAN just got released on steam! Imma play the hell outta that till wipe day. Also may I suggest jumping on DARKSIDERP or something until wipe. I’m on there atm and it’s awesome. They have a really good ethos. The game feels new and refreshing on there. See you when wipe happens. I can wait as long as the devs need. I want them to release it when they are ready. I think they are doing a really good job with atlas.
  11. Lol this is a smart tactic on their part. Youve gotta give it to them. tbh the fact they were on lawless makes me think that this company probably didn’t get a chance to claim land. Then you wiped their bases. So they are forced to live on their ships. I am inclined to side with the company that are now homeless. They are doing what anyone else would do in their situation imo. It’s cheesy but what do you expect my dude. I suggest you camp them as best you can (within the limitations of your personal irl requirements of course.) just let them rebuild somewhere so they stop only attacking you. I’m sure their new neighbours will engage them in combat. Back when I was in a small group and we got wiped off polar my group griefed the shit outta the Trojan trolls after they wiped our tiny base. Then I joined a mega company and the mega company bombarded them daily.
  12. I’m coming from a mega company. Myself and many of our admins are gonna run much smaller companies this wipe. I intend to have three crews of 10 players in my company. We are changing up our playstyle aswell. This time I’m gonna try to live on ships exclusively. As a nomadic pirate company with a galleon (all weight sails and no cannons) that moves from safe zone to safe zone as our home base. This means we will need to tame our materials mounts, ask someone to use their island to farm for our ships, build them on someone else’s island (while paying them tax in the process) and build a number of safe houses on othe smaller groups islands. We will ally with these smaller groups or atleast add them to our discord so they can tell us if they need help during raid windows ( because we want pvp and intel easily) This way we are totally mobile from the start ( so we can get our discovery points back and level quickly) and we can offload and trade with said island owners. Im als considering taking smaller groups we are allied with to do powerstones and the hydra so we can use the sub and trade crabs and submarines when we have them unlocked. Whilst discussing this in discord a lot of the guys in my current company agreed that they may also do this.
  13. agreed us pvp players don’t want pve cowards on our server. Sorry I’m just following the pattern here. GET GUD YOU BUNCH OF PVE....... POOPY.........HEADS! But seriously I don’t mind if pve guys wanna come play pvp. You guys are good builders, ship Wright’s and breeders. You can chill and do the stuff you’re good at and the pure PvP guys will protect you. We like combat. We need specialists in our companies. Feel free to jump in intermittently if you like. You are very welcome. enjoy the game team.
  14. Historically pirates did pay tax to their captains the whole crew would take a share. If the captain was a jerk the crew would mutiny. The new claim system on pvp will allow you to overthrow your island owner if they are a jerk during raid windows. You can make your own raid window by buying a war token. The power is with the tenants of the island in this case. It is a form of democracy. This means it is the responibilty of the claim owner to be fair to the other people living on the island. Being the claim owner will be very difficult if you are a jerk in the new update. If you charge too much tax then you will be replaced. If raiders come I believe the claim owners tax bank will be the primary target of a raid. Claim owners will need to be fair as they are reliant on the tax from the other companies to maintain upkeep of the island. If your claim owner is a jerk on pve I suggest you pillar off their base and block their ships in with your ships. You could even wall of their base or the entire island with the rest of the people living on the island. To get rid of the claim owner. The upkeep will be the burden of the island owner in this case. Effectively you can hold the island ransom until the claim owner stops being a jerk in pve. Just some ideas on the topic of tax and how to “pirate” your way out of paying too much. Good luck with it my dude. I hope this was helpful. Additionally if you really want to role play as a pirate you can simply just live on ships. Yes, you will pay tax to build a schooner or brig in the first instance if you are building it on someone else’s island ( and I’m sure they will allow you to because you are paying tax and also effectively just passing through, not intending to stay after your ships are built) after your ships are built turn one of those ships into a “home base” and just park it near an island with raid protection. When the raid window comes to that island you can just move your home base ship to another island that is raid protected. This will mean your “ home base ship” will be invulnerable. Forever.
  15. Lol. What an absolute G! Keep up the good work jat. Loving the game man.
  16. Lol such melodrama. Reading this thread is hilarious. It’s like a fountain of salt with no target. Thanks for the laughs team. Keep it going. I suggest you work together ( all of you despite where you lean option wise) and compromise. If you say you are leaving the game then do it. I’d personally like you to stay and play. This dev team is working hard and in my opinion it really shows. They even humbled themselves and decided the player base was right in saying the direction of PvP was too hardcore. The devs are doing a great job. I pray for many more wipes until everything is ironed out before full release. This whole mega vs small company talk is crap. The new claim system incentivises small companies working with mega companies for mutual benefit. If you are a small company on pvp I suggest you get some land on a mega company island, build a ship ( or a few) load it with NPCs ( gold from mega company in exchange for goods and services rendered) and help defend the island you reside on ( your community’s island) against raiders in the designated raid windows. This will make you irreplacable to a mega company. Owning the claim flag on the island puts a small company in a lot of risk of being wiped. The whole islands tax revenue will end up in the claim owner’s tax bank. That is the equivalent of a tool cupboard in rust ( the primary raid target for a base) I suggest you approach the claim owner when you join the island and ask if it’s okay to join their island before investing too much. Don’t be a troll and grief anyone else’s base after the claim owner says it’s okay to build. They have the ability to get rid of you. If your claim owner is a total jerk i suggest joining another island and wiping the claim owner. Not the other people living there. They are a commodity. If you like you could instead just live on a ship, many island owners will let you build a ship yard and build a brig etc to start out with. you will give them a lot of revenue materials in the form of tax. After that just anchor your ship near the island. That ship is now invulnerable outside of raid windows. Just move that ship to another island when the raid window comes. Good luck everyone. I will be making a smaller company this wipe of 20-30 people. Feel free to join. I am leaving my current mega company to play test another playstyle (smaller nomadic company)
  17. Hi team, a couple of posters in here have had really good ideas. I really like the pvpve ideas personally as well as a faction system of some kind like planet side to a degree. Maybe it will be more beneficial if they allowed players to choose to join a faction or create a company instead. The faction system would be really good for new guys and solos looking to recruit or play in a safer environment overall. This maysound a little cheesy from a PvP mega company member. So here goes. Be gentle with me I have been fortunate enough to jump on darkside RP recently and I believe their rules and overall ethos really makes this game a lot of fun. I will 100% recommend to anyone looking for a change up. The game feels fresh and pretty fair for all groups and play styles. Check out the rules on their website. Really good stuff.
  18. Very well put. That 100 %sums it up. I really think we are lucky to even be playing this game. If you asked me 2 years ago if I thought someone would make a game with this scope within the next 5 years I personally would have been doubtful. At this stage I’m pretty awestruck that this team has delivered as much as they have on one of my favourite titles engine ( ARK)
  19. I love this thread. People need to chill and stop being so negative towards the devs. They are doing their job. It isn’t a players job to shit on that. Just play the game..... or don’t play the game. If someone calls you out for being melodramatic and saying the sky is falling because whatever, then just move on and self actualise a little. Stop feeding trolls.
  20. Lol I’ll just send you a steam key for it so we can play together pretty much besties by now. Ill make the grinder profile if you insist. Isn’t there a better way to contact you than that tho? I prefer steam. ; )
  21. Ironic. You are solo. you would rather play in a group bigger than solo (2-10) big groups ( which you are not a part of) have too many arseholes. in my experience a lot of solo groups have too many arseholes. Ill be your freind. You can even join my mega bro cookie. The majority of our members are split into groups of 10-15 member independent crews with their own ships ( minimum of a schooner for each crew) each crew has a captain with admin priv. Each of those captains takes orders from the main discord and feeds info to their crews via their crew discord. Aside from big fights the crews do their own thing. This new update addressing the claim system will balance the game for all play styles on Pvp ( solo, Small group, with megas running islands in most cases like governments who will actually need to rely on all types of groups to keep upkeep costs down) I’m not addressing pve atm. I’m sure there will be seperate pve updates aswell. What im getting at is that as a mega company on pvp the majority consensus is that we would like all players to have a good time on pvp servers. We were the first to acknowledge that the current system is not in the best interest of all players as it caters too much to my company play style and leaves solos and small groups ostracised. Now those small groups have a reason to work with us or go to war against us fairly as they choose without offlining. NPCs are a solos best freind when it comes to fighting my company ( had a guy in a schooner sink one of our schooners in combat yesterday) this solo is now a total bad ass in my company. The crew that lost their ship are still getting roasted in the discord now lol. Lets not make the game harder for the new guys and the solos by pushing to limit mechanics that are in their best interest. Let’s keep it competitive and fun for everyone, I would even be for NPCs taking up company slots. This way a solo can run a 499 man company as the admin. Thanks for the post mate. Enjoy the game. We don’t hate you back. We love solos and small companies.
  22. Heeeeeeey team. a bunch of my favourite trolls in here. Nice one OP. You did a funny. #orange man pillar
  23. Microphobe. All good my dude, I don’t mean for bad blood between us and like I said, your points are good ones. The eu/na merge would definitely be something some players would be onboard with I hope the devs consider it as a third option for server choices. The guy you quoted and replied to above is a troll. Just ignore him. I didn’t realise that until after I re reread your post. Apologies. Have a good day.
