  1. Sure, I expected that. What I didn't expect was for the vast majority of them to leave so quickly. Suffice to say that several key initial design decisions have proven wildly unpopular. It's a shame because as the old saying goes "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." Whatever Atlas might become over the next 2 years remains to be seen, but I suspect it's chance to become the runaway hit that Ark is was lost in those first 60 days. It might still become a solid game with a respectable playerbase, but most veteran gamers can tell you there is a significant portion of the gaming community that is ill informed and knows only the most sensational things it's heard about a given game. In Atlas's case that is likely to be "their launch was an absolute shit show" for a long time to come, almost regardless of what comes after.
  2. The only thing that surprises me even a little about Atlas’s development so far is how fast the player base has dwindled. Wipes and other changes are pretty much exactly what I signed up for, but I will admit given Ark’s success, losing 80% of your launch window base in 60 days is surprising. Curious to see if the wipe brings some players back to start anew.
  3. Given that the wipe is total, this statement amounts to unsubstantiated DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
  4. The game was marketed as Early Access. Period. Early Access means wipes are not only possible but probable. In fairness this update is being forced upon exactly no one since it is exactly the sort of thing anyone purchasing an EA title should expect. Your request for a refund is based solely upon your lack of understanding or acceptance of the EA process and therefore without merit. Radical changes to game design are entirely possible during a 2 year EA. They are not legitimate grounds for refunds. Your arguments about who the changes are for are entirely subjective, supported only by your own opinions, and also entirely beside the point. If you do not care for the changes you are free to go, but nothing you have presented is a compelling case for granting refunds.
  5. If this is your complaint, then purchasing an Early Access game, where wipes are a distinct possibility from the start, was a choice you should have considered more carefully. In EA you must be willing to sacrifice all progress at any time. The game is still in development. If this is not something you can accept, you should shelve the game until launch.
  6. If you purchased an Early Access game and weren’t prepared for the possibility if not the probability of multiple wipes over the course of 2 years, that’s on you regardless of whether the game succeeds or fails.
  7. How many wipes before launch? eleventeen.
  8. 100 screaming virgin discords sounds like a great name for a garage band from Jacksonville. just sayin.
  9. Ad hominem attacks do not make your case more compelling and since you didn’t answer the question but instead chose to insult me, the question of who is trolling whom is an open one.
  10. There is no ingame gag. You can yell yourself to death and there isn’t really much they can do about it. How exactly woukd they prevent it?
  11. Too soon. Am I the only one who can no longer hear this phrase without immediately thinking of Anchorman?
  12. Koalas? What happens to them when it rains?
  13. If captured you can yell until yourself to death. Just because you didn’t know the solution doesn’t mean there isn’t one and citing a single mechanic and claiming that make the game hardcore isn’t a compelling argument. Again, unless you can cite something verifiable from the developers stating the game is intended to be hardcore, its just your unsupported opinion. An opinion I haven’t seen anyone else express.
  14. Yes much like chittering dodos in Ark. I get ya. Btw if you’re into punk there are some great examples of punk bands covering classical. Check out the Sex Pistols whole album covering Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. It’s a hidden gem. Or The Ramones cover of Beethoven’s immortal Ode to Joy. Good stuff.
  15. But just to be safe, check under the sofa cushions. I lose sooo much stuff there. Wallets, phones, self respect, etc. it’s worth a look.
  16. I think reducing ambient noise volume in options will address this although it will also reduce other noises you may wish to hear. Breaking out animal noise into it's own seperate volume isn't a bad suggestion though. Noisy stables can be annoyance. It's hard to hear my collection of famous jazz songs covered by death metal bands playing in the background over the sounds made by all the animals. PS If you haven't heard Cannibal Corpse cover Louis Armstrong you're missing out.
  17. Weird. I don't know about crafting everything, but my company actually hauls gunpowder to where our best metal node spot is and mostly crafts cannonballs there precisely because the weight of cannonballs is about half the weight of the raw metal to make them. It stands to reason that the specifics might vary but the overall principle you mentioned should apply to most things to at least some degree.
  18. Fixed. Also no Chic Fil A. The lines would stretch halfway around the grid and the lag would be worse than FOY.
  19. Came to pretty much the same conclusion. Low levels not worth the ammo expense.
  20. The Op complaining about a system rework even though no information is yet given about it in a profanity laced bile spewing tirade which is one of several he has started of late perfectly illustrates why he is the only poster I have on ignore.
  21. I’m not twisting anything. All I’ve asserted is that there are valid reasons for wipes that players largely fail to consider because they do not tend to consider anything beyond their present desires. Nothing you’ve said here invalidates that, you’ve merely asserted with no supporting evidence that wipes will destroy the player base, because you assert that is what will happen. Do you have anything other than your own opinion to support your assertion? Just because you say a wipe would take the playerbase to zero does not make it true. On the other hand Cazzt has provided the example of Ark’s wipe having nearly no effect on player base. I know this to be true because I was playing Ark at the time. His assertion was supported with an example, yours is not. Which would you reasonably expect people to consider the stronger claim?
  22. This by itself is a perfectly valid reason to wipe but players never bring it up because they don’t think about it from anything but their own perspective.
  23. Paragraphs are your friend. Giant wall of text with no separation not reader friendly.
