*yawns* Oh look, Realist has hijacked his own thread to talk about something he's never brought up before. Man those Wild Pirate Encampments sound nice for pve, too bad we can't talk about them. Dude, this is starting to border on an unhealthy obsession. It will happen or it won't, either way pick up the pieces of life and move on.

Hey look, another Realist wipe thread, "who knew"

Hey guys i thought I'd give you some info on the ptr. They have moved powerstone islands and freeports, there is about 500 more discoveries. Pirate encampments are in the game but are suprisingly pirateless. You crash 4 out of 5 grid swaps which almost cost me a galleon. They have added tutorials with video and audio to them. Change of fonts for more legible reading. The whole graphical design of the game seems to have improved with added textures and better looking seas. Cats are at freeports and take milk or fish to tame, they can hunt rodents bugs (gives keratinoid) and fish. I haven't been able to get to a trench yet so im unsure about sea horses. All in all the look of the game is alot better and i enjoy the new look. I would have loved to see pirates at the encampments to test that all out. Cats are a good addition if your looking for keratins easily (haven't got the to be able to get fish yet) i cannot say if this is going to bring people back to the game or not but it does look better in alot of ways.

Well I know a few suggestions have been pushed back as no go, and if you look at the new roadmap and the fact that they want to steer the player base towards areas that we are not supposedly doing enough in then you'll know what I mean by some of what we say. If you have a player base that enjoy sailing but don't enjoy pistol loading (just an example not for real of course) , Then you expand on the sailing, not force everyone to do more shooting, it makes no sense, as i've said before you eat in a busy restaurant not an empty one.

Updated Steam to PTR; I was able to Find NPC Pirate Encampments and ship, on Grid N6 Single Player. Ran into a Pirate Brig, was a fun battle, doesn't just blow UP like a SOD ship, it has to slowly or quickly sink and it will fight till it goes down. *One thing I noticed is you cannot see any sailors on it, and No Idea if you can board it or claim it, once it sinks it leaves a wreck floating on service, I can only assume you can dive down to loot it or loot something? Any Plans on having NPC Pirates on the ship so you can board it and fight them? Will we ever be able to claim the ship? Found island with 4 pirate bases, but there was only the 1 ship around, not sure if there should have been 1 ship per base? Attacking a pirate base: Its fun, pirates come in different armor amounts, seems smart enough to pull out a pistol to shoot you, the Canons are a bit too accurate, I was on my ship shooting at them and they literally HIT ME every time, Dead on - on the steering wheel. (Maybe instead of just shooting player on ship they could try to sink the ship? **NOTE** Pirates on cannons, puckle, ballista etc, are invulnerable, you cannot snipe them, you have to walk up to them, or try to punch them to get them to come off turret and fight you. I think for NPC Pirates, it would be good if that could be adjusted... We should be able to Snipe them off the canons or guns. Another Sugg **Can we make it so the NPC's inside the buildings can come out and fight? Or just leave the doors unlocked so we can go in and fight them, having to blow up the doors or walls just to kill last pirate hiding in the base seems excessive.** Lastly a Question: I could not find NPC pirates on Blackwood, are they on one of the islands? Or only Ocean Map?

to avoid sotd ripping. there is sometimes horrible lag when new server is loading and Sotd already started figher when i can do anything. hit me three times today 15 sec immune after grid change would be ok to load everything and get ready for fight or kit sotd, what do you think?
  7. 1 point
the devs have known for months the game is gona wipe, its just smart business to keep it to themselves I agree with what they did.
  8. 1 point
Yeah def a variety of ways to go at this that seem more practical than what they’ve said.
  9. 1 point
I mean if they are adding new islands they could easily make some non claimable and just let them respawn after you kill all of them. It would add replay ability.

@Realist: stop act as you would speak for all the players. I don't give a fuck if there's a wipe or not. Both sides have pros and contras. I don't give a fuck if the other player on the grid plays on PC or Xflop. I don't give a fuck about the playerbase, because GS doesn't too (you can see this in the case that they still programming it). So in the future I would really like to see you acting more like a smart person and less like a politician duchebag in the opposition, flaming everything you personally dislike and make propaganda without any evidence for your words. You're not Donald Trump, so don't act like that piece of shit. So shift down, even when you are excited about the xbob launch soon and calm down a bit. Ah and please stick to the OP (in every fucking thread!), or do you read the threadtitle and just understand: "another thread who wants to be mutated in a wipe-thread by me"?

    1. While I'm generally against speed increases as the solution to solving sailing tedium, I like your approach because it's about incentivizing other players to come along for the ride, which does increase the chance to have fun together. I like this suggestion. 2. I'd be in favor of making this sort of buff about a player being at the podium since a human player is at the helm almost always, and whether they have the captain skill tree or not isn't really addressing making sailing interesting, but as a general concept yes. 3. Not in favor of adding a bonus for NPC's mounting the racks as this doesn't really do anything to heighten the experience but just super easily mitigates a penalty the devs have already balanced how they want. The buff for having an actual player mounting the rack sure, because again that's about having friends along to make things fun. Overall I like the core idea of having incentives in the form of buffs for multiple human players to be on the ship. Solid idea.

Multiple fallacious assumptions here that seem to stem from an arrogance of assuming other people are idiots. A. I don't do 90 degree zone crossings and haven't since oh I don't know December 23rd maybe. Moreover, I don't know anyone who plays Atlas who does. Do you really think other players are that incompetent that you can assume we're all out there doing this? Regardless of angle of crossing, it will NOT affect the period during which lag means you have no control. I've had to state that this is the issue multiple times now and you continue to put forward arguments dealing with things other than during the zoning lag. Angle of crossing can and does impact how quickly you can react and recross if necessary once you have regained control of your ship after the zoning lag. So again, I don't know if the issue is reading comprehension or willfull misdirection, but you're putting forward something that does not address the point in question: being targetable during lag before you have control back. Angle of crossing has zero impact on this. B. The arrogance of assuming other players don't know how to tweak graphic settings or not run memory hogs in the background to increase performance is breathtaking. Stop acting like everyone who plays Atlas besides you is a moron. Yes, I know these things already, have known them long since. What I also know is that the mitigation of zoning lag they can affect is incremental, not overwhelming. My rig is quite solid, I don't play on ultra settings because I'm not super picky about asthetics and the performance is more important to me, yet I still get a solid 5 seconds or so of zoning lag when crossing. Furthermore there are people with less solid rigs that are still within game specs who get at least this and yeah, they've tried tweaking game settings, the mitigation of lag that achieves doesn't drop you from a 10 second eternity to 2 seconds, which is the sort of assumption your "everyone is an idiot and it's not GC's fault you don't know how to use your poo machine" position is based on. It shaves a few seconds off at most, there is some mitigation of the problem, but it does not fundamentally SOLVE it, so stop acting like it does or it can. Here's the experience I've had twice, crossing borders at shallow angle in arctic, during the 5 or 6 second lag window I experienced, get targeted by an entire high level squadron that happened to be on the other side (probably from chasing another player) and hit with salvos before I could recross even though I was setup to do just that. I didn't get sunk but I took a significant pounding during a window of time I had no control over, so stop with these nonsense arguments that it's all the players fault and get off your high horse. Despite your wrongheaded assumptions, other people do have brains, some of them even use them. Are there idiots out there? Plenty, but pretending we're all mouthbreathers to make a disingenuous and fallacious argument that it's all our fault when even players who do the things you've brought up still face this issue is what's absurd. At the end of the day you're still the guy who said 99% of issues experienced are not the devs or game's fault. Really? That's the hill you're gonna stand on 9 months into one of the worst EA launches in the industry? These guys have so far offered up a game so riddled with issues they've lost 99% of their playerbase and are launching to Xbox in desperation, yet none of this is their fault? Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Stop acting like everyone but you is a whiny idiot who can't do anything right. It doesn't make you look good.

Some of those comments ought to come with a crazy speculation and bad data analysis warning. Maybe a handful of pvp players looking for somebody to gank. Is there some other large group somewhere all excited about getting to play with xbobs? If so, please post links. Or is this just you, contemplating the adoration and anticipation of thousands of players just waiting for you to join the game? I don't know where you come up with some of this stuff. Yeah, those 3 guys you quoted from the stream are a massive crowd. You keep saying this when it's clearly not true. Steam numbers in Feb. - 11,385 Steam numbers in March when a wipe is announced - 3,029 8356 people left the game when the wipe was announced. Steam numbers post wipe -April - 5736 You think that number shows that 2707 new people started playing the game because they liked the wipe. What it really shows is that after the wipe, only 2700 out of 8356 people came back because they didn't want to start over, didn't like the new claim system, or had given up on GS being able to produce a decent game. Player wipes do not improve player numbers. That wipe killed the server population, and it's never recovered from it.

sailing with your mates if always fun, so give them a reason to be there. 1. with a captain at the wheel, if there is a player on the podium - +5% speed, plus an additional 5% divided by number of sails for each sail manned by a player. 2. with a captain at the wheel, manning a cannon will grant your loading and targeting bonuses to the nearest 1-2 NPC's mounted on cannons, a player on the podium will increase this by +1. 3. make cargo racks mountable. With a captain at the wheel, if an NPC is mounted reduce speed penalty by 25%, if a player is mounted reduce the speed penalty by 50%. Increase this value by 25% if there is a player mounted on the podium. 4. inspire the crew with music, ship speed, handling, etc... (All values are for description purposes and can be changed for balance)

The only wipe that doesn't put people off is always front to back. Especially on a first date.

There is a setting in your json for each grid. I don't know if it works with blackwood though. I believe it's called ServerCustomData. There's two fields. The first field needs to contain NPCShipNumMult then the second line needs to contain your value with commas on each end. If you wanted 10x you'd do... ServerCustomData1: NPCShipNumMult ServerCustomData2: ,10,

You are missing the point, it is useful on an MMO that has the potential to start dying (like the attrition it has had since release). Yes if it is always successful there will never be any WPE on official beyond the start. But when players start rage quitting because they do not like some stupid change (which has a history of happening with these devs) - that downward spiral is slowed because once the first players leave - there is some new repeatable PVE content to do for those who remain - without that they would leave too leading to complete server death.

Wow.. again for single player and dedicated servers. The lack of comprehension on these forums is comical, and makes one feel like the most intelligent person in the room.

Yes, news flash, different people have different pc's and some are better performing than others. While I agree that people should investigate and make appropriate changes to settings to maximize their machine's performance, you and I both know this only does so much to mitigate these sorts of problems. So, if someone is playing on a machine that is within the game's specs but after setting adjustment is still experiencing this issue, you find their complaint absurd. So glad you're not in charge, and your business accumen would not make your game last very long, since this is a customer service issue and your approach is to blame the customer and tell them to spend more on their pc (several hundreds up to thousands of dollars) in order to play your 30 dollar game better. Right.... This is what I find absurd. Here's what's ignorance: talking about people's inability to escape from SOTD's as if it's a skill based issue when if you had taken the slightest bit of time to actually read AND comprehend the OP, you'd know it's all about a point in the game where all the skill in the world doesn't matter because you have no control over your ship DUE TO ZONING LAG. You're talking about wiggling your ship is nonsense because this is about a moment when you have no control over your ship. Or maybe you know this but are deliberately conflating irrelevant circumstances in order to diminish the complaint by disingenuously equating it with skill issues. Either way, get real dude. The problem isn't the OP's skill, it's your lack of reading comprehension (or did you even actually read the OP, doing what many posters do and offering a knee jerk reaction off of reading a thread title?) and/or failure of logic in constructing your argument. No one here is arguing they shouldn't get hit with cannonballs, so your suggestion this is what people are complaining about is a strawman argument. The complaint is about getting hit with cannonballs from multiple sotd's you can't evade or fight back against yet because you're still stuck in the act of zoning. Does it make you feel superior to talk down to people and dismiss their complaints as childish even when you misunderstand or willfully distort what those complaints are? Instead of telling others to go play with dolls, maybe you should go talk to a therapist.

There are roughly 100 unclaimed islands on PvP and 300 or so on PvE. Hush child.

Ahoy Pathfinders! ccc is a console command which takes your current in game coordinates and server grid then formats that into a cheat command used by Grapeshot employees to teleport to your exact location. It's useful when reporting map issues, or passing on specific information about your location to the team. To use the command, please do the following: - Open your console with the ` key (you can find it located next to 1 or above TAB) - Type in: ccc - Hit Enter Demonstration of the command typed into the console. The game will automatically copy the coordinates to your clipboard, just hit ctrl+v and you will paste the cheat command. It will be formatted like this: cheat TP J8 -451257 320374 484 Please use this when you are making reports to us, it will allow us to be more efficient when looking into your reports! Thank you

The entire point of the argument of this thread is insane to me!!! The people arguing against a 15 Second immunity are the people who want to Camp the border hoping to lure a player to there death??? These people should go back to playing eve and camping there low sec gates for the love of god get a life!!! Absolutely there should be a 15 second immunity not just because of SOTD but because of people like this who think its fun to try and camp a server line>???? Really!!!! I don't think people know what good pvp is anymore! ^^^^ That is not PvP thats griefing.... PvP Honorable, fun, and fair... Sinking a person before there computer renders the next server is none of those things!

Nope, nope, nope nope, nope. You guys are all advocating taking sand out of the box because it sounds like it could be a GOOD idea when it's really a BAD idea. As a dude who has on an unfortunate amount of occasions been at the helm fighting 3-6 TPG/CSTG warships, often solo or in groups, zoning happens, sometimes it's a strategic maneuver baiting enemy ships through a zone where you know your buddies are waiting on the other side, sometimes you can play it to your advantage to escape. An Immunity to protect against a PVE element in a PVP game can and will be abused, it will take away actual strategies and replace them with cheese. Ships of the damned are stupid, they have always been bad in all the ways since the game launched, rather than making it worse by putting stupid band aids on the symptom, they should address the actual problem. We gotta take a huge step back and ask ourselves and the Developers, "Why is Gamora?". Because quite frankly they're retarded, how the hell did human critters in this games universe even manage to evolve or invent sailing with these douche bags spawning in random places, why are they even there. Why are they there, why are they damned, why are there more SoDs than players? And how did human critters learn to successfully travel the seas with these hordes of catch you next tuesdays everywhere. The Devs didnt think that far, they just needed something to fill the giant bland boring world they created to occupy sailors time in the worst way ever. Buncha green floating sea chihuahuas nipping at ur heels is the worst. This game needs to take a very serious look at EVE's universe/factions model. SoDs should be mission/specific zone related encounters not the fucking Pidgy's and Ratatas you encounter every 2-3 steps in Pokeman. The Game needs a Core lawful area that is NPC faction controlled, with light amount of pirates, and the further you get away from the core, the less friendly/neutral NPCs and the more pirates you encounter towards the lawless regions, and beyond those you should have your mythic regions with pirates and Sods. Instead we have ZERO pirates and ALL OF THE SODS for no reason other than just because.
