  1. Hey, I'm sure you've probably found this already, as more people are posting configuration they have found, but if not... Paste the below into the Game.ini (not gameusersettings.ini) [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode] bClampHomeServerXP=False That'll remove the level 8 cap for freeport servers. I currently have a server set up, so if you require any help let me know and I'll help if I can
  2. Sorry one more update. I returned to the home region where I noticed my level changed in the crew log. I'm back to level 36. Respawned at clan base again and still 36. So it's fixed but might require going to the place where the glitch/data mismatch first showed. Not really sure without more people having info. Good luck!
  3. The goal of this idea is to curb the rampant claim spamming, and also more fully integrate the claim flag system in with some of the other core game systems. Players can only create one claim flag per 10 character levels, starting with the first at level 10. Level 10 is fast and easy to get to, and insures players have at least a small investment into the game before they start claiming land, which has a significant impact on the rest of their server population. This slows early game flag spam, and somewhat limits the ability of zergs to flood large areas with flags. It incentivizes people going out exploring to find discovery zones and increase their max level in order to get more flags. 3 quality tiers of flags, with increasing costs based on tier. Tie the flags into resource progression. For example: Tier 1 is wood and plant fiber. Tier 2 is wood, hide, stone and metal Tier 3 is planks, ingots, stone, and woven cloth. Flags can not be damaged by players, but decay at a steady rate and need to be repaired. If they decay they are deleted. Each tier increases the natural decay time by 1 day. For example: Tier 1 decays in 1 day. Tier 2 decays in 2 days. Tier 3 decays in 3 days. Each tier flag gets a bonus to counter capture speed based on the tier of flag you are countering. Tier 2 flags get a small bonus against tier 1 flags, and no bonus against tier 2 or 3 flags. Tier 3 flags get a significant bonus against tier 1 flags, a small bonus against tier 2 flags, and no bonus against tier 3 flags. Each tier flag gets an increased claim radius. Add a land management skill tree. This is where flags are unlocked each 10 levels. Other skills could include increased claim radius, claim speed, flag durability, ability to craft alarms and other defenses, etc. Tying claims to skill points further reduces a zerg’s ability to spam claims across the land, as it will require characters devoted to land management to get a large number of claims, while still allowing smaller groups to claim ample land to cover their needs as it should be relatively cheap for them to have one claim each. Creates a more defined skill set for stay at home/governance type players. Add per skill respecs, rather than only the entire character. Do it like Path of Exile, where you initiate the respec then have to confirm at the end once you’ve taken out all the skills you want. This will maintain the once per level respec system. Allows players not to take points out of skills they want to keep when changing other skills. This prevents issues with losing claim flag skills when trying to change other skills. If a player respecs out of their claim flag skills, they get 5 minutes to manually go back and interact with their claim flags in order to reclaim them. Any flags not reclaimed by the end of the 5 minutes are destroyed. This covers a player doing a full character respec and ending up with less available flags than before the respec. They then choose which to keep and which to let go. Players should not be able to drop additional flags if they already have their max number of flags placed. They will need to manually deconstruct one of their flags before placing another. Possible additional system: Differentiate personal claims from company or settlement owned claims, allowing more versatility for players with land ownership. No longer automatically incorporate all of a player’s claimed areas when they join a company. Make claims able to be classified as a settlement, rather than just company owned. Each settlement is governed by its own laws and taxes, independent of the company as a whole. Only the claims donated to the settlement are governed by these laws and taxes. Allow settlements to be designated to a particular owning company. Allow players the choice to donate claimed zones to their specific settlement, or the company as a whole. Claimed zones donated to a settlement or company still count toward the player’s maximum placed claims. Players can deconstruct any claim they have placed, including ones given to a company or settlement they are still a member of. Personal claims, even by members of the company, can not be placed overlapping company or settlement claims unless they are set as donated upon placement. When a player leaves a company, if the claim overlaps another company or settlement claim (other than others they have personally placed) it is deleted. If their claim does not overlap any other company or settlement claims (other than others they have placed), it reverts to a personal claim. When a company is disbanded, all of its claims are deleted. Settlements remain, but no longer have a designated owning company. Companies can not directly siege or take settlements from each other, the claims have to be removed and replaced as normal, then replaced with the new company’s claims and set up as a new settlement.
  4. OK so I’ve read a whole bunch of posts on this issue and I’ve had some experience with it ingame and I’ve had a lot of time to think about the implications of this system if it actually works well; but as it stands it does not. Almost every one of your players are going to have regular periods of eight hours or more where they cannot play your game. To have random people be able to stick a claim flag on their boats at any time and for them to be able to lose all that work while not being able to do anything about it is simply unacceptable. Since this is a pirate game and it’s about sailing and making claims on land I think the current system has a ton of potential, if anything what we should be encouraging is quick deadly skirmishes to claim territory and ships from on line players only. That is piracy and that is one of the areas where this game can truly shine. The experience of boarding and taking over a ship should never be as easy as just sticking a flag on an off-line player’s ship and waiting a few hours. Instead it should be intense, it should be a battle of wills that lasts a short time and has a decisive outcome. That is piracy, and that is what everybody wants. If Grapeshot can get this system right it has the potential to greatly encourage and facilitate wonderful PVP experiences, but if they get it wrong it’s just going to end up like Ark. I don’t think anybody wants to see that again; off-line raiding simply isn’t fun or fair. So those are my thoughts on claiming ships at sea, but as far as land claims go we obviously have a problem where large companies are spamming claims literally everywhere, they have no upkeep, and there’s very little territory for small companies to take. This severely limits gameplay potential for smaller groups and needs to be addressed. What I would suggest is that each land claim takes exponentially longer than the previous claim you made and that the total number of claims you can make is directly proportional to the number of members you have in your Company. I would also suggest that each individual claim require some sort of resource upkeep. That would prevent large Companies from spamming them everywhere just because they can and would open up territory that is not being used. Furthermore it would be a great idea to implement a trade interface into the UI, perhaps some structures that would help with that as well, and provide a way for large companies to lease land to smaller groups in exchange for taxes; that way both parties can benefit. Somewhat related to this; I would also suggest a way to acquire a “merchant’s luck” buff that would cause players who needlessly attack your character to be haunted by Soldiers of the Damned or something like that. Obviously you would need to have very specific circumstances to acquire this so that players can’t take it advantage of it wrongly but the idea is to provide a caveat for players who wish to play as merchants. Just a little bit of extra motivation to leave them alone. Edit: Alternatively for merchant pathed character you could obtain a “Rabbit’s Foot” which grants you a luck buff and allows you to keep your items on death so long as you have not engaged in combat with enemy players. Result: No reward for players who kill innocent traders, no ability for “Traders” to exploit this mechanic for their own PvPing, and less likelihood of losing large amounts of valuable goods. Discuss? -CyanicEmber
  5. This is where I think most people agree on. Even when skills cost 1 per, I am level 45 and didn't fill out any skill trees fully. But everyone should have access to the basics. Smithy, metal tools, hide armor, melee weapons and bows, and shipbuilding. Everything else is extra and 1 player should only be able to max out the extra skills. Exp: Artillery, BeastMastery, Captaineering, Repairing, Cooking, Medicine, Piracy etc. All good MMO's allow you to solo play if you want and not be worse off then anyone else. The good MMO's require larger groups for the End Game content. So limiting players to do basic things just to play is a bad design. Besides now people level 20 and under cant do anything. Either they choose to get a bow, or they choose to make a sloop. As many have said "Look I can make this spear! But can't make the storage box to hold it....."
  6. like i said: want ot go big ? then get people . build a big company. only because a few players think that going bigf somehwre down the line is the way to go they shouldn´t be able to claim all at once. you can still upgrade and increase in size. just not claim the whole island and be done with it. also just venturing into the claim radius shouldnt be enough to maintain it. it should require work to maintain it. that way too large areas are not feasible if your company cannot put the work in or the members are not willing to do it.
  7. Either nerf horses while taming or Add an aditional arrow to the game: Tranq Arrow 1-3 shots depending on level will make the animal go to sleep. (unconscious) After animal is hit with bola, he is woken up. Bola shouldnt require a charge at this moment since the game is very rubberbandy. Should be "Press and Use" like any other tool.
  8. taxation system ? is this a thing ? if companies want to hold an entire island they need to work for it as well. guard it, develop it. have the members and the infrastructure in place to maintain it. MAYBE make it that companies are able to claim additional spots, but this would have to be extremely expensive and require a very large playerbase. and active players. not passive members that log in once and never play agaibn yet stay part of the company to bloat the size
  9. A very happy and blessed day to you all! I too am having issues finding "rushes". it is found on which trees? All trees? Is it on a certain island? Does it require a certain tool to harvest? Just curious. I am playing on a private server and perhaps soon I will stumble upon the answer. God Bless!
  10. FOR 1x1 LAN SETUPS: Okay, so I have done my setup from scratch and I'm going to provide a step by step walk-through. I believe this is a good starting point for any new server owner looking to get up and running for the first time, or someone looking to play "Singleplayer" (Note: From my testing, the server needs to interact with Steam bi-directionally even for LAN/SP- some ISP's such as cellular hot-spots may not work!). While this guide can be applied to all server types, the examples are geared towards a 1x1 grid on a LAN. This can also be used as a debug process for advanced server owners to test things: _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Downloads: BAT Files & Map Grid Templates: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7u5bi22q0fmdcdg/AABbaC3q4gw15Ft16pdDS-Woa?dl=0 (You will need LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat, ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat, and ServerGrid1x1.rar) ServerGridEditor: https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor (Hit "Clone or Download" then "Download Zip") steamcmd: http://media.steampowered.com/installer/steamcmd.zip _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Server Setup: 0) Create a directory where you will put the server files (Eg. X:\AtlasSrv) 0a) Open "AtlasSrv" and create "steamcmd" and "AtlasTools" 0b) Extract steamcmd.zip into "steamcmd" and run "steamcmd.exe" 1 time to set it up. When the prompt shows "Steam>" with an OK message above you can close this window. "steamcmd" folder should look like this now: 0c) Go back to "AtlasSrv". Copy the "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat" and "ATLAS STEAMCMD.BAT" to this folder. 0d) Right-Click "ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat" and click Edit. Replace the contents of this file with (Change "X:\AtlasSrv" in both entries with the directory you are using): start /wait /high X:\AtlasSrv\steamcmd\steamcmd.exe ^ +login anonymous ^ +force_install_dir X:\AtlasSrv\ ^ +app_update 1006030 validate ^ +quit 0e) Save & Close. Run "ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat. You may be prompted with firewall permissions, you must "Allow Access". (This process will take some time) 1) Your Atlas server directory should look like this upon completion: Congrats! Your server files are now downloaded and on the latest version. You can use ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat at any time to validate and upgrade the server. Now onto the map! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Map: 1) Extract "ServerGrid1x1.rar" to the "AtlasTools" folder 2) Extract the ServerGridEditor zip to the "AtlasTools" folder. Open "ServerGridEditor.exe" within the "SeverGridEditor-master" folder twice 2a) In the first ServerGridEditor, "Open project" and navigate to the ServerGrid.json file we extracted into "Atlas Tools" 2b) In the second ServerGridEditor, "Create project". Copy the "Atlas ID" and close this copy of the program 3) In the first ServerGridEditor, Click "Project > Edit" in the top left.: 4) Paste the "Atlas ID" you have on your clipboard into the "Atlas ID" of this window. 5) Change "Friendly Name" to your Server Name 6) Click "Edit" at the bottom. 7) Ctrl+Left Click on the map: 7a) Set "Name" to what you want for name of your Freeport (Grid) 7b) Set "IP" to your Server internal IP (192.168.x.x) 7c) Hit "Save" at the bottom (You can make more changes later but in first-time situation, it's nominally best to use default settings). 7d) Back in Island Editor (ServerGridEditor), Click Export > Local Export. Click ok to the default location. Popup should say "Success". 7c) Click Export > Map Image. Navigate to the "AtlasTools/ServerGridEditor-master/Export/ServerGrid" folder and use the file name "MapIMG" (no quotes) and "Save". 7d) Click Export > Cell Image. You should already be in the "ServerGrid" folder. If not, navigate to it, use the file name "CellIMG" (no quotes) and "Save". 7e) Click Project > Save. Navigate to the "AtlasTools" folder, use the file name "LANMap" and "Save". (This way you can edit more later) 7f) Close Island Editor. Open "AtlasTools/ServerGridEditor-master/Export/" folder. Cut/Copy the "ServerGrid" folder and 2 JSON files: 7g) Navigate to "AtlasSrv/ShooterGame" and paste: 7h) So close! Navigate back to "AtlasSrv" and Right-Click "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat" and Edit. Replace the contents with (Replacing "X:\AtlasSrv" with your directory): start /high X:\AtlasSrv\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGameServer.exe Ocean?ServerX=0?ServerY=0?AltSaveDirectoryName=00?ServerAdminPassword=123?MaxPlayers=30?ReservedPlayerSlots=25?QueryPort=57561?Port=5761? -log -server -NoBattlEye exit 7i) Save & Close. Navigate to "AtlasTools/redis-server". Run "redis-server_start.bat". Wait for the command line to say ready to accept connections. 7j) Configure port forwarding with these ports on your router. Change the IP to match the one you put on the Map file: 7k) The moment you've been waiting for; Navigate back to "AtlasSrv" and Run "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat". When the command prompt displays how many cores it is running on, your server is up! OPTIONALS redis-server: redis-server.conf has options to change your database password and how much RAM (maxmemory in the conf) the database will use in bytes. I personally set the maxmemory to 1GB (1073741824) for my 1x1 testbed. I don't play often locally so I dont know the impact other than a possible crash if the DB runs out of memory (redis does require a pagefile, so I think it will start writing to the disk if it runs out of memory? not 100%) . The DB file is saved on the disk in the same folder so you can track it's size over time and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure on the specifics, but I would say it's safe to keep the max memory 2.5x higher than the database size AT MINIMUM (to account things like the database copying itself and swap space). For sake of argument me playing by myself without doing much the database was about 90MB, so 1GB RAM allocation should be plenty of breathing room for the forseen future. If you change your password in the redis-conf (for added security), you must also update your passwords in the map file under Project > Edit (You can see the old password "foobared" in one of the images above. These should reflect your conf file). Good luck sailors! -Teach
  11. I've been wishing this since Counterstrike first came out. For the past two years I've been playing Ark on xbox via the "play anywhere" feature using Windows 10. Doesn't even require an xbox to play. Absolutely zero hackers and it's so much fun. Can't wait for this to go live on xbox, but the experience will help before I do.
  12. This is what has happened right now. Every island is full of small claims. With a claim that needs time and effort to grow, everyone will be able to snag a small claim but growing it will take time, and the developers/server owner would easily be able to dictate the amount of time needed to grow a claim. Also since a player/company can only expand their claim and not just plant a claim down anywhere they want, even if they do destroy a smaller persons claim, they cannot put down a claim and own it. They need to expand outwards from their original claim location. Depending on how far away they are, this could take months, maybe even years. (Owning a claim would require you be in a company, and if a company disbands or joins another, they'd lose their claims so you can't have 100 players in a company spamming their own claims to land grab)
  13. If the claims require upkeep and can be destroyed, 2-3 people would be pretty hard pressed to both protect and upkeep said claims. A concentrated effort by a few players should still be able to overwhelm a "pillar" base that's just a claim and small buildings. A single person or small group would be better off building a small claim in a hidden location or staying mobile.
  14. Ok as ive played this for a while and there a bunch of issues that need to be fixed. The game is in a pretty bad state overall as of launch. although some parts are fun the games systems dont work well together to create a good overall game. They have a bunch of small features that work ok on their own but together its a mess. I will try to be as detailed as i possibly can. I wont touch on server issues in this review. CLAIMS: The current claim system right now is very broken. It promotes zerging and doesnt require much thought. There should be requirements to placing a claim. Gather materials to build one, Or gaining gold to buy one by doing treasure hunting mssions. You need to have something in place that doesnt allow large guilds to take over a bunch of islands just because they have 50 people while also being fair enough for small guilds to prosper. Conquering of other people's claims should also be a something that has a clear way of working towards doing. Like building a flag that you can plant on the center of the claim and the defenders have to destroy to defend their claim. Gaining land should be an investment and it should grow over time. Life is feudals claim system worked really well and i think something similar would work here. ANIMALS: currently there are to many animal spawns on islands. You can barely even craft without being chased by 5 wolves. The alpha spawns are also crazy. Finding 4-5 alphas on a beach should not be happening. RESOURCE SPAWN: the way resources are distriubted on islands make the game sooo difficult to progress. Some islands have literally no iron or fiber which is key to progress and there is no Incentive to trade and be friends with other players. Each island needs to have acess to some of each resource. There are some islands that have a balance of all you need while some are forced to struggle with nothing. This creates an imbalace in a world where at least on the pvp servers is every man for himself. Give islands better resource distribution so you can progress at a decent rate even if you island doesnt have as much of a resource. FOOD AND VITAMINS: currently its easier to just die than eat. cooked food rsstores like no hunger, and making meals through cooking have no recipes that are accesible at lower levels. Unless you dont have a bed , dying is always easier than find food and paying attention to vitamins. NO PIRATE EXPERIENCES IN EARLY GAME: as a game that markets itself as a pirate mmo there are no epic adventures for treasure early on. In my 30 hours of play i havent found any treasure maps or anything. It just feels like a survival game with boats. Grinding for resources all day to build boats with no objectives to sail to. We need treasure map vendors or increased spawns of them. The rewards dont have to be epic all the time. I would be happy with finding 200 metal or guns ans weapons. Make expoloring more interesting. Lack reasons to not kill on sight. on pvp servers there isnt reason to not kill a stranger. There isnt much point to trading. And with no reputation system people will just kill you for shits and giggles. In the game, most encounters are pvp. There is no way to build the kind of trading communities this way. Its just an all out war all the time. GOOD INSENTIVES FOR SEA PVP Without there being trade packs or treasures there isnt a real reward to fight someone at sea except for just wanting to fight. Sea of theives did a good job creating incentive for players to fight at sea. If a ship is around then it will prob have Bunch of treasure. Here there arent many valuables on a ship except for some resources they may have gathered. Adding trade packs whose rewards scale with the distance traveled would be amazing and very valuable. Overall these are some of the main issues with the gameplay. I feel like if these ard fixed the game would be fun.
  15. ark might be listed as an MMO on steam, but no one who understands the differences structurally considers Ark an MMORPG. Do not make the mistake of pointing at Ark when talking about Atlas and thinking the two are or should be completely comparable. Atlas is billed as a MMORPG/survival hybrid. If it were intended to be just like Ark they would have just called it survival and left it at that. Atlas is intended to have far more of a massive game world with tons of players in the same world feel, whereas Ark was endless iterations of a core concept. This is why I find the decision to allow modding and private servers to be a curious one, as it works against encouraging everyone to play in a small number of worlds. The two biggest hallmarks of an MMORPG that require lots of players are economy and endgame raiding. To the extent that Grapeshot allows/encourages players to play outside of officials, they are shooting themselves in the foot with regards to enhancing these aspects by having as many players being a part of the same game world as possible. At this point the decision is head scratcher from where I sit, but perhaps there is some as yet unrevealed aspect of Atlas's design that will address this in some way. Only time will tell.
  16. Hello, I just wanted to say that I spent around 30 hours playing the game, just stopped for now. I love the idea and game play is smooth for the most part. Few points that need to be addressed before the game is really playable long term. 1. Starting zones need all the materials to progress, there is still a lot missing, makes sense for early access. 2. Jumping on your boat shouldn't launch you miles into the sky and kill you. 3. Death should have some downside, but not loss of all items, I'm all for a death penalty but loss of everything is too frustrating to continue. 4. Don't have starting zones that have next to nothing in the way of resources. 5. Fix fishing, don't require sitting, I fish in real life and I'm standing most the time. 6. Add more resources for vitamins, D for example, fish only is silly in the starter zone. 7. Right now the game is a "game of attrition" you can't keep up with the requirements to survive. 8. Keep up the good work, looking forward to more updates. Wcjoker

    FORGE

I've started to unlock some weird BP's like Taxation Bank (it also uses raw metal but is an entire building) I assume some of these structures and higher tier equipment will require refined materials.
  18. I like the idea of endgame resources being area specific, which would require people to spread out and/or trade all the while also slowing down the rapid out-pacing of nolifers / mega guilds from the rest of the playerbase.
  19. Just like Ark I'm already seeing Atlas being fundamentally flawed with how easy it is to destroy / take everything from players when they log off. Being able to be offline raided is a contentious discussion I don't want to get into here, but I think the issue is how simple it is. Taking out a base or boat should require more than 1 person a casual 30 minutes and a shovel. What kind of prevention do you think should be implemented to meaningfully hinder casual griefing? It should, at the very, least take a person time and resources to destroy things while you have no way of defending it. They want Atlas to have a big economy, or so they say, but it feels just like Ark in terms of logging in to nothing 100% of the time.
  20. PVP is likely going to need a much more complex system regardless, but for PVE it could be as simple as "Allow Building" option being added to a claimed area and then negotiation the tax on that 1 claim flag. Which I get wouldn't be super simple to implement on the dev end but wouldn't require a ton of rules regarding war and things like that.
  21. I totally get what you are saying that the beauty of it. In a perfect world that would be the ideal but the process May be different for pvp and pve. Like for Pvp my idea would do good because As resource compete. you increase the likely hood of Player vs player action so there will be a form of competition. What im merely doing is allowing better form of it ... with better single island interaction. As the Island itself require a healthy doses of player management and building. We see this all the time in real life. I do agree with your idea for PVE but for PVP i dont think but all solution are better then current way of life. Im up for any solution at this point Its already day 3 and Land claim frustration is already here. lol.
  22. No understanding of why they made it a primary ingredient for fur armor when there is no sap in the regions where you need it. Not to mention Rabbits and Horses are everywhere up there, and require food that doesn't exist for 2-3 grids away. It's kind of ridiculous and not well thought out.
  23. I agree the system in place currently is way too survival based and completely throws off the MMO feel they are poster childing. I think Scurvy and Diseases are interesting keynotes that could play into game-play but they should not rule the roost so to speak. Like DIJASON said above "instead of forcing us to die so rapidly, let us get sickly, slow down our movements, or blurr our vision, while not eating the right stuff, over a good few in game weeks, give us true and proper disease, etc. " MMOs dont have a food system because it takes away from actual game-play and progress, Yes there is cooking in most of them but its PURELY for buffs when it comes to raids or other big ventures that require a little extra boost. It feels like a lot of the systems in place currently need some revisions or complete reworks.
  24. I have never played Ark or seen game play of it. I heard about this game from a YouTube channel called Falcore Gaming which does many videos about Sea of Thieves. One of his videos addressed ATLAS and if it would over take Sea of Thieves and potentially make the game inactive. Interested in this new and promising game I decided to follow it and its development. I liked Sea of Thieves because of the many recent updates and what they offered. I enjoyed meeting new people and bonding with them or defeating them. I played it often but not to often. Although, I felt like the game was empty and repetitive. ATLAS portrayed itself as a game that would offer what I felt was needed to make Sea of Thieves much more playable. The game offered a huge world full of people and places, and many things to do inside of it. Now lets address my major issue with the game itself: The lack of hints and knowledge on how to play the game. I had finally joined the NA PVP server Krakens Maw, and found myself on a new island known as Diamond Cay. I was reading the hints above, but unfortunately I was not able to read all of it. The hints went by way to quick so I pretty much started the game not knowing how to play at all. This is my major problem, the fact that it is so hard to learn the game and figure out its mechanics. I feel they should make the hints viewable later on to fix this or to let them disappear once u perform certain actions. Not knowing some game mechanics became a major issue later on. After I had finally made a Stone Pick which took an hour due to lag and the inability to know that wood was rare from trees, I had finally gone to bed. I woke up on my island and saw that I was dead, I died to player. I was confused because I did not know that when you disconnected your player was still in the world sleeping. I decide to deal with it and I spawned in the middle of the ocean. I swam to the island that was closest and began to start over. Luckily there was no more lag, but the whole island was drained of resources, there were no more trees or rocks. I ended up killing myself and spawned in a whole new region, to find myself in the middle of the ocean next to the island I had just been on. I feel the developers should add a way for trees to regrow faster, and rocks to also regenerate much quicker. So you will not find yourself on barren islands like I did. The developers are probably working on the spawning glitch so it is unnecessary to talk about it any more. At this point I decided to go onto the PvE server. Which proved to be a lot less annoying than the last. I spawned on an island and was able to fetch the resources to make a pic. I started to gather more resources and leveled up even more, but eventually I asked myself- What is my Goal? Unfortunately the island I spawned on had no village so I concluded that my best bet was to sail away on a raft and find a village. I got information from the community on how to make a raft and began to get ready. I realised how repetitive it was to achieve this goal, and how long it took to get one. In total it took 4 hours of mostly running around and grinding to gather the resources needed to get a raft up and running. My friend, who spawned at a village, said he needed 10x less of the materials that I required because he simply spawned at a village. The developers should make it that you require the same amount of materials to build a raft whether you spawn in a village or in the wilderness. They could achieve this by not making you build a dock or by having a universal dock at every island. In this period I also died a lot. Mostly because of factors I did not know of. I had no idea about the vitamin system, which proved to be the thing that killed me the most. I ate to many berries, or did not eat any fish meat, or was unable to find mints and just ended up dying. Things I did not know were required to survive. And the problem was that when I died, I would spawn on a whole new island in that region. On my first death I stayed on the new island, but eventually died to low vitamin D which I had no idea about how to obtain it at the time. At this point I just kept killing myself until I respawned back on the second island. I had to keep doing this every time I died, about 5 times, and would waste me 15 mins of my time. What I feel is that the developers should instead make you spawn on your starting island to avoid what I was doing. This would mean that in early game, when you are dying the most, you will be able to spawn next to where you died, compared to late game when you will be dying less and dying will be less consequential due to ownership of a house, storing resources. I do not know of any way to set spawn points, so this paragraph may be pointless if there is a way to set your spawn point. After gathering all the resources to make a dock and raft, I gathered some food and water so I would not die at sea, but my resources ran out fast. I hugely unpredicted how long I would be sailing for and died at sea, where my stuff was irretrievable. I died of loss of water. I was unable to figure out how to fill a water keeper and no one in the community would answer my question so I just went off sailing. I died because of lack of info again, and in the process lost all my stuff. Of course it was my fault for having no water but I did not know how to store it, so I did not have enough. Now I have switched back to PvP and I am starting a new character. To summarise this, what I feel the developers should improve on are these points: 1)Give more hints and info on how to play the game and let the player access the hints at any time. 2)Add a way for tress and rock to generate quickly but unnoticeably 3)Let the game be fair at the start, whether you spawn in a village or in the wilderness. 4)Let the player respawn on their starting island or in a spawn point-of course the developers are already aware of spawning and server glitches Although I lost all my stuff, and I am having a tough time getting off my starting island I feel the game will be much more enjoyable later on when I am killing monsters and finding treasure.
  25. Yeah that's total BS. You didn't do it right. I've tamed 4 wolves and 2 bulls which were all Bola tames. Please don't spread false knowledge on the forums. For a Bola tame you have to trap it then get it low on health and Bola it. Then feed it with the item it requires everytime you can. Then once it gets unbolad you damage and Bola it again. It'll then require you to feed it again over and over. The only downside to this is as he said they will attack you while you try and feed them. To get around it feed from back of head or just out of attack range.
