  1. I a past I spent alot of time in a Corsairs game. There were about 30 ships types there. And all separated by 6 classes from small 6th (Tartanes and Launches) to a very top 1st class (Warships, Linen Ships). And as far as I remember - the fastest ships were in 3rd class. Those were Corvettes ships and they was able to catch much lighter boats. I wish we have 30 types of boats here and Corvette (my fav) will be here too.
  2. I just discovered one BAD THING added to SotD's. Look at the picture below: I took it A MOMENT after SotD appeared. So they greatly decreased they spawn distance (at least twice). The hell, devs! I'm in full speed, this SotD full speed and I didn't have any chance to avoid it aggroing at me. Of course I outrun it but do I need extra random damage to my vessel?
  3. BTW any1 actually use Dinghy? I rarely see attachments-ports to the big ships and I like never-ever see the boat on the shore. I mean, what's the point of using it? You swim faster, you can handle cold arctic waters with just 30 fortitude... ...it might be a good idea to add some storage on the boat. So you could park it on the shore. Go gather resouces, and put all of them to Dinghy. And after you done - drive a boat to your ship and put resources from the port to a storage then.
  4. After I first time got the buff it disappeared and reappeared several times.
  5. I'll add one more. Some1 dig the treasure and army of damned solders right there: Guess what happened when army was spawned? Half of solders immediately fall down from hill. Good thing I found all of them later...
  6. Yet this is unsafe due to glitchy EA stuff right now. Yesterday I lost lvl 65 bear by just ordering him get aboard my schooner. He just fell down through the floors, right to the ocean bottom, then burred deep underground and that's it. LOG showed that my bear died. I guess he gone straight to hell... The guys in a chat advised not to use "move abroad" command, just use "follow" and get to the ship. Tame get there as well.
  7. Did you know that you can ATTACH A TORCH TO a SADDLE? Do that with your bear saddle and enjoy the torch floating above your bear's back: Oh... and here is my CREW controlling SMALL HANDLING SAIL placed in front of my Schooner. I hope he feels comfortable down there: The thing I hate in Galley in Atlas - amount of masts. I mean seriously. Bigger ship DOESN'T mean more MASTS! There are more complicated sails, more yards, etc, but in most cases THERE ARE JUST 3 MASTS (i know there were ships with even more than Galleys have here but those were just an exceptions). Check the Pirates of the Caribbean. Even biggest royal ship with 2 rows of gunports have 3 masts: There was a pirate game Corsairs before. The BIGEST WARSHIP in a game had just 3 masts: And what we have here?
  8. I've tried the "real life" way btw... just a Brig with 6 guns in 6 gunports (I later put 2 more guns each side top deck). So the way it happens - I keep for 1000 fib/tch/woods and 200 metall in resource box. I keep 6 planks and 6 gunports in storage. I hunt SotD. If there is a one that below 15lvl - all goes well. Brig can handle that amount of damage... there will probably be one or two leaks during the fight and that's it. If SotD is around 20 lvl well... by the end of fight you will miss a guns in top deck, you will miss some walls and railings on board and also you will have some holes in deck. You will experience some planks destroyed during the battle - so all going crazy and scary. In most cases it's just 1-2 SotD's per raid, then you back to the port for repairment and resources refill (unless you hunt lvl 1-3 SotDs) If SotD is lvl 25 and higher... I guess that's the work for Galley, or for different ways to destroy it (armored cover by roofs, shotgun design, kiting with large stern canons etc).
  9. 57 lvl. Got 24 extra as well. Maybe they recalculated it in the way when additional 20% goes from lvl where you got at least 5 points? (because 5 + 20% is 6 and if there 4 so that will be 4.8 points and no addition by patch?)
  10. EU PVE, i2 - there is at least 2 of gentle ones right now. I killed gentle one before and killed one monstrous in i1 recently. So my question - in what zones should I search for 3rd one?
  11. I would say - about 100-150 actually. Maybe even 200. If you run through Arctic - you meet around 40 just by a straight line : )
  12. Some say that they not just spamming - but exists and if no one take care of them, they flood every available space around. In arctic region, where almost NO players at all - there are hundreds of them. I once spoke with a guy who said that every day he go around the island and kill any SotDs, and that's why there is calm place there. And I sailed through the zone and met just few of SotD's. There are clean waters around big companies bases. So it might be true. I started to clean the area around my base and my waters are actually feels a bit safer. But when I go to neighbor island - there are tons of them there. And it's weird because I have just a Brig with 8 usual guns each side and my neighbors have for like 5 Galleys and more then 10 Brigs and they DO NOT DO ANYTHING with SotDs around.
  13. A would agree... well is there was any communication in a game : )) I mean, I always trying to chat while long journey. I always try to ask a resources question if I hunt them. I ask about some game issues. And guess how many answers I got so far? NOT A SINGLE ONE. Just talking to myself in a chat. And that's usual situation for me. I think - part of a problem here, ppl don't know I you chat to them or you answer to a guy with a mic. And yet ppl don't know about any social activity in grid. What companies there, where are they, what language ppl speaking. I can "esc" and check how many ppl are there in a server. And are they in my island, or neighbor one, or it just player do transit my zone... who knows! : )
  14. About guns in a ship... ppl are tired of "shotgun" designes. Especially in PVP where a Sloop can just outshot a Galley. So the idea is simple. Limit guns to gunports. There must be also top deck, stern and nose gunports as well. There are descriptions of old age sailboats in wiki. For example No louvers sloops with 40 heavy guns on it. Besides there were 2 games before where players should construct and create their own battle machines and racing cars. And there were no creative approach in those games. Players just found the most efficient (and ugly of course) design, put it on game guides and all creativity is done. But (back to Atlas) before that, there must be a bit more boats in a game. ----- About mele and ranges weapon well... I just say it all useless compare to you brave bear tame. It's like that. You spend days creating your good quality weapon, create ammunition, and slowly go to wild nature. Dying for few times and do naked run to your corpse afraid of it's being stolen. Or you can mount your bear and do fast and comfort travel - facing whole animals prides and packs. I don't know if it works in PvP but... well you can carry a swivel with your bear... ----- I play a lot. And... I always see thing and think - there could be better or different way to design it. For example, those discoveries. You just hunt them and got some points and max lvl. And that's it. But what if you find all discoveries in a grid and get as a reward list of all resources you can find here (or even active radar skill allowing you to see types of resources in a map - same as herbalists and miners in WOW).
  15. EU PVE I met just two today around northern border i2
  16. Same here. I was at G12, at Rossraine. I saw through spyglass that there is a discovery at the top of cliff. There was no way up so I took my picks. First attempt was faliure - I used my climbing pick and got black screen. I saw UI, heard sounds but... didn't see anything. I log out and then log in again. Then started to climb again. Before very top of a cliff, I just needed one more dash - I suddenly died. With no corpse left. And that's was it. No discovery, no my items left. I spent more time to island to at least craft some basics... (this is EA i guess. I lost my ships to an actuall enemies twice. And I lost my ships and crafted "eq" to a buggs and glitches for like 10 or 15 times).
  17. Imagine if our sail from X2 to X8 would be a 3 hours of "autopilot" straight line sailing? We will die of boredom then, right? So there must be something in sea. There must be some challenge. And weather - is part of it's challenge. At least that HOW IT SHOULD BE. But before IT HAPPEN - amount of SotD's should be dramatically decrease somehow. Right now the situation is just stupid. I did a lot of traveling lately. And situation like that. For past months I met in a ocean: - 15 players ships. - 1 trade ship (i met it just once since EA started). - 5000 damned ships... (digits are not exact but I just wanna show the situation like it is). So right now we have an ocean where only challenge is SotD's and everything else - is just addition to SotD's difficulty. Fog? Beware of SotD appears from it. Counterwind? Pay attention - how you avoid SotD. Rain with crazy winds? - Pay attention - how you avoid SotD's. Tornadoes? Caution - SotD can appear from funnel. Coldwave? You might been killed by SotD's while you warming inside your boat. ETC. I would feel fine if there would be many of them around Golden Age (after all ppl do need a place where they can farm them). But in the rest of ocean. NOT. Just few per server. And then - another challenge must come out. And I say it once more. The weather itself must be part of this challenge. FOG - must require for you to slow down for some purpose. Maybe to avoid some random trash in a sea. Coral reefs. Random heavy seaweeds zones. Random icebergs in polar regions. Maybe some friendly ships. Storms must damage fully open sails. Rarely lightning strikes to masts (oh I wish there would be a st. Elmo's fire before storm!) Tornadoes... well my brother came up with Idea so there must be a just one huge scary and deadly funnel. You must be able to avoid it but if you hit it - your next destination is a closest island for general repair of your ship. Rains - must make sails wet and heavy. Snows - ice whole ship and sails. I'm sure everyone can come up with a lot of ideas about weather challenge (there must be something more in open waters as well). And yeah... the wind. Right now it just the same through whole world and it slowly rotates it's direction clockwise. So I you unlucky and start you travel with counter wind - you'll deal with it. I wish it would be more random and there would be a steady wind for some times - not rotating.
  18. Yesterday I was sailing back to base from treasure hunt. I drove my Schooner with large speed sail (and a small handling one). The wind was strong and it was tailwind so I was enjoying my fast travel home. Yet I had a 15 minutes buff from discoveries. I crossed the border to Freeport and I was curious - how long it will take to pass whole server from south to north in all those PERFECT conditions (fast ship, tailwind, straight line, no SotDs). I used this discoveries buff countdown as a chronometer. And got a result of 12 minutes. I've been thinking then... if I go half atlas travel (8 grids far up/down or just left/right) and have always perfect conditions like that it will take for 1 hour and 36 minutes of sailing. The weaker wing, wrong direction of wind, SotDs, forced landings, slower or heavy loaded ships, etc will raise travel time dramatically (might be a 4 and 5 hours travel). And while you sailing in most cases you do 2 things. You dying of boredom, or playing Pacman with SotDs. And it lasts for hours and hours. (one guy in chat advice me to buy 2nd screen and play another game while I'm in travel state : ))). The question here is - are we really need those huge grids with small islands somewhere in center? Maybe it would be a good idea to compress space in future? I'm not saying about making all tiny and compact. But to lower travel time for around 33% or even 50% maybe? So the spirit of far adventures will still be here but all go a bit faster?
  19. I'm just curious. If I have 40k gold - how can I purchase that artifact in Freeport? I mean right now it's 16000 weight. I need at least Galleon to carry that much of gold and I didn't figure it out - how to carry that much of gold from ship to a vendor. My pathfinder can slowly carry 2000. If I'll put all in weight - it will be around 3000... yet I need 40000...
  20. The wind there btw not random at all. It just slowly rotate it's direction clockwise. And in the storms - rotation just speeds up but after that it goes clockwise back to where it was before storms. Knowing this - gives you a room for your fast travels planning. There are also bluepints of sails allowing you to travel faster.
  21. Same here. I have 2 trees in my base entrance, 1 tree inside my defense tower, and 2 trees growing in front of my animal paddock entrance. And yeah. Alot of rocks somewhere under my foundations. But. I deal with it. I mean, they once disabled all resources growing around the building area and we miss most of our forest, rocks, brushes around. And we live in Tundra - we just had to go to another part of island. And guys from tropical/desert areas wrote that they have whole islands with NO RESOURCES at all due to foundation spam. And they even didn't have a chance to sail to neighbor island in the area because situation was the same there. So. IMAO - I'll better cut down the tress and rocks growing thru my floors and store resources than see less resources around : )
  22. I had 4 around my Tundra island (i2 Millertown EU PVE). Yet no ships lost to them... Actually one was killed yesterday by some transit Galey. 2 were killed... well by me 2day. There is one left : ))
  23. 2day I joined to the party and finally start to hunt them... I killed lvl 3 and got blue BP of ammo box. I Killed lvl 11 and got blue BP of Swivel. I Killed lvl 23 and got blue BP of ammo box (same as from lvl 3) and green BP of Swivel (worse than from lvl 11). So... I don't understand it yet. Is there hunting high lvl SotD's worth it?
  24. BTW. How do you know what Whale type you fighting? Today I finally was able to kill 2 of them and it turned out I ended 2 similar ones...
  25. Same happened to my recently... but ti was an alpha wolf... - 5 more regular wolves. - 7 cobras. - 6 lions. - 3 scorpids. - 1 rattle snake - 1 croc. At least I counted that much of them... it's 23 different animals from different species! Cats, dogs, coldblooded, warmblooded all were best friends to each other... (I tamed another bear, took my well armed boat and went to revenge next day... they say that the taste of vengeance is bittersweet ©).
