  1. Please hold, all of our representatives here at Boomer Inc. are busy helping other players with mergers at the moment, but if you’ll remain on the line your post will be handled in the order it was received. Please enjoy the music while you wait *plays annoyingly indistinct music in the background which sounds vaguely like Sympathy for the Devil, by the Rolling @#$&ing Stones. Then again, it might also be It’s Not Easy Being Green, by Kermit the @#$&ing Frog. With Boomer Inc. it was often hard to tell.*
  2. Intriguing idea. There might be downsides or exploits of this kind of system but nothing comes to mind right off the top of my head.
  3. Rats isn’t looking for a solution. If he’s left with no intention of coming back he’s just here to whinge.
  4. That is really a shame because I was really looking forward to you connecting the dots further for us. I for one could use some clarification on how the Illuminati bred bigfoots on the Mayan calendar as a pawn in their secret war against the aliens who really run the IMF, the World Bank and the Girl Scouts (everyone always misses the Girl Scouts but if you don’t think thin mints are laced with heroin you’re living in a dream world). I’ve filled in some of the blanks but I can’t figure out if it was the same people who killed Jimmy Hoffa and faked the moon landings, or if was the CIA team that pulled 9/11. Please help. There are so many dots.......
  5. Disagree. MMO’s should not be designed from a solo players perspective, either for pve or pvp. That is what single player games are for. It is fine to make an MMO accessible to the solo player, that is a rational marketing decision, but solo play should never be the focus of an MMO.
  6. Anyone familiar with the history of cholera would agree.
  7. I work on commission and as long as it’s not peak season, I take off when I want to as well. Heck my boss is even a gamer so I could probably tell him why and not even get a sideways glance. All I’m saying is, I wouldn’t recommend doing so given this bunch’s track record, or at the very least have a backup plan. I hear Aruba is nice this time of year.
  8. Abandon the use of specific dates. It has not done you much good in the past. Let us be frank, your track record of meeting them dating back to Ark could charitably be described as poor. In all fairness, there are legitimate reasons that dates get missed. Developing and coding a game is a messy and imprecise process. So don’t try to give precise dates. We don’t actually need them. We’re not talking about weddings or graduations or surprise birthday parties. No one needs to build their lives or calendars around when changes to Atlas or any other game occurs. When you announce a date and make it, nothing happens except what was expected. When you announce a date and miss it there is anger and resentment and damage to your credibility. This year I will have been playing online games for 15 years. By a pretty wide margin the most respected and even beloved development team of any game I have played was City of Heroes. When NCSoft announced it’s shutdown, the developers offices were flooded with cakes, cards, flowers, gifts not only of sympathy and support, but thanks for providing years of gaming joy. Let me humbly suggest you consider adopting the use of the only indicator this highly regarded development team ever felt the need to give its players of when to expect new content: Soon
  9. Two things: I really like that phrase. However, if the pizza is habitually late you’re going to be less than thrilled even if it is better than shit. Also, you would be foolish to bet your buddy on the pizza being on time if you know the delivery guy’s track record.
  10. Sorry but your social ineptitude and lack of talking failed to convince me to support your position. jk I completely agree that the sub should not be gated behind endgame content. Nothing should when it is brand new during an EA phase. The point here is to test stuff. If you limit the number of players who can test the sub for you by gating it, that is counterproductive.
  11. “Open the pod bay doors HAL.” ”I’m sorry Dave. I can’t do that right now.” lol. Good point sir.
  12. I think the main thing is based on these devs track record, there is a high chance taking the 20th off to play Atlas will be a waste of said time off. As long as you know that going in, by all means, it’s your life. Particularly if you’re out of school have at it.
  13. Which is not a system that I perceive any upside to vs straight higher tiers are better. Can anyone put forward any compelling reason why this system would be better?
  14. I like this idea but it would need to be limited to avoid exploitation. Cut off a head or two and everyone gets the msg and stays in line. Keep doing it and at some point they all decide you need to go. Make it so abuse of this mechanic can also lead to mutiny.
  15. Right now I think the only way to change any of this stuff is to msg Dollie or Jerryn. Not 100% positive but Jerryn was able to make a change for me with a company that I could find no other way to do.
  16. Sorry but whenever anyone mentions dueling, all I can think of is this classic scene from the original Highlander.
  17. I would tend to leave changes to the basic technological level to modders. People seeking to play games like this are often looking for immersion as part of the experience. Tech levels that cross different eras are the kinds of things people like this complain about as a negative in their experience. Typically they feel more strongly negative about it than people who enjoy cross tech feel strongly positive. The best way to give everybody what they want for this sort of thing is to leave tech changes to modders and unofficials. Personally I wouldn’t have had unofficials for different reasons but it’s not my game and no one asked me. Given that they exist, they are kind of the perfect place for people to go nuts with any and all ideas of this sort without disrupting the experience of others. Win-win.
  18. For the record Ark was ALWAYS a sci fi game that happened to have dinosaurs, NOT a Dino game with tek shoe horned in after the fact. Many people have claimed or assumed so. They are all wrong on the facts. From day one, (actually before that even) concept art for Ark showed characters from the lore riding and fighting Dinos, but also carrying advanced weaponry, not just bows and arrows. On day one of Early Access characters spawning in for the first time watched an animation of themselves looking down at their wrist and scratching at the decidedly not at all primitive implant embedded there. Any time those characters looked above the treeline, they could see at least one of 3 giant floating obelisks in the air above the island, a huge unavoidable, impossible to ignore neon sign that this was not a purely primitive survival game. When Tek was added later on, many people whined despite all evidence to the contrary that this was the devs changing the game or bowing to pressure to make it more accessible to blah blah blah. No one has to like Tek, but saying it wasn’t part of the game’s original lore or intended design is demonstrably false. Not that I am putting any of that on you Kappinski, just making sure the record is straight. As near as I could tell playing Ark for 4K hours, plenty of people loved it, plenty of people hated it, even more had no strong feelings either way.
