Before wipe I was traveling around the world and saw like huge monstrous bases with 15-20 lvl-1 Galleys parked around. After I wipe I saw same huge monstrous base with like 30-40 lvl-1 sloops parked around... so it's not big difference for me : )) But anyway. I do love the idea that ships should worth something, so players could buy one, care about it, use it, keep it safe. So expensive ship itself is NOT a problem. The game is. If player able to set his trade route - it's fine. If not - it's just same Atlas as before with only difference. DEVs force player to sail sloop, and sloop is just bad. You need to get honey and bear, to make it possible to do treasure maps (same problem with no alternative to tames). So you have to sail for them. Then maps. Higher maps - is farther travel, and sloop is just not designed for that. You can barely put anything you need for far travels. Storage box, resource box, bed, grille, mess table, barrel, smithy, steering wheel... and of course you need to put bear somwhere. Size of a bear is around 1/5 size of a sloop. It will be very cramped and uncomfortable. Then it goes 11 knots downwind when it's full wind and 6 knots when it's calm. So that means if you go for map around lvl-10, the ONE WAY sailing will take around 3 hours. And there were a lot of words about current fascinating sailing. All problems are here as well. Empty ocean. Low distance SOTD rendering. Whales and SOTDs camping borders. Fog that affect only player. Stupid pacman game with 100 tornadoes. It's actually a bit worse than before, because due to lack of Brigs and Galleys around - no players are clearing the areas. And of course dodging SOTD with a Schooner when you ride 18 knots are way different from when you dodging them at 9 knots Sloop. And of course with Schooner you can catch a wind and get to your desire destination. With sloop you won't make it in time, wind will rotate and you'll anyway experience calm and counterwind (3 knots sailing is FASCINATING!) Also with sloop there is just no resources gathering. Because it just can't carry em all... Players just need to suffer for some time. And that's it... IMAO in good pirate game, all ships from small to big could serve their purpose. Tiny boat for local purposes, some fishing, earn money for bigger one. In Atlas you have to use tiny one, for all you should do with big and fast and that's WRONG!!!

I've got a few complaints and a few ideas but for the most part.....I actually enjoy this game. Dev's should get that once in a while too. That is all.

HI!!Could you make it so week can raid the trade ships for goods and NPC of higher skill levels like we get from the ships of the Damned. Can you make it so we can buy already zoned land plots, That we can build on It is getting hard to find land that we can place a mill on.The price of the land plots should be based on the value of the resources, this should also help with the trade routs And also help stop the land Hoarders that seem to have to have all the land to them selves. The thing that gets frustrating is when you go to place a ship yard you can't because some one has placed a post in the water to stop any one from building there. The other thing that would be nice is for solo players to be able to park a ship at a free port for a fee as long as you pay the mooring fee you can keep your ship there for up to 24 real time hours with out the rapid decay affecting it, and have it so we can pay a daily or weekly fee if we choose, But only have 1 ship per player that can be moored at a time and only at 1 free port. The fee should very depending on the size of the ship. And for the people that are not solo and in a guild if they keep their ships at a free port should have to pay a hourly fee the price depends on the size of their ships. They should also have a time limit of up to 4 real time hours to stay. at a free port if they are offline, Guild players should have to pay a higher price than solo players. Because they work as a team. Also could you make it so the Official server owners have to pay the fees as well at the free ports. I know that these people who own the servers can build stuff there and its not fair that they can do any thing they want and not have the fun of having their ships sunk or decay and getting raided like the rest of us. Ha ha!Could you make more free port areas and have it so only the solo players can buy or rent free port land for a weekly fee.Could you make the free port Islands have a animal shelter for any one to store their animals for a fee as well. Its getting sickening seeing every one storing their animals at the free ports, I think they should have to pay a daily or weekly fee to store them there. Have it so when they store their animals there that they go into a shelter so the no one can see them and if they are unclaimed that they either can be bought from the shelter for a fee and the ones no one wants are just set free.Another thing would be cool is to have a free port motel where a player could rent a room for the night. while being offline,One more thing could you either make it so a solo player can build a sub, it sucks to have to kill the kraken in order do be able to build the sub. If not could you at least make it so the solo players can complete all the missions by them selves. Please and thank you.Not all of us have friends to play with or the head gear the guilds want you to have to play with them. Thanks for your time and thanks for the opportunity to share my Ideas for you game.Take care be safe!Cheers!!

Man, a lot of sniping back and forth. Have you considered that you can both be right? Development is a mess, but there are still fun things for some players? I wouldn't recommend official, but there are a number of good customs depending on what you are looking for.

I really don't know what food is best or if it matters. I just use the berries the farmhouse harvests. If some food changes results in any way I would like to know too.

I believe that you should expect to be attacked by other players in PVP in any manner possible and it’s not really a grief to be buried in spam, just a tactic. Big companies have been encouraged by the devs since the beginning for better or worse on all servers. When I’m “attacked“ in PVE by other players I’m always surprised because I try to help everyone and be a good neighbor. The game in PVE Is sort of winnerless and more of a past time or hobby. There is no score other than I made it to level x or look at my cool house. Like playing putt-putt by yourself or painting toy soldiers. I really don’t know why anyone would take the time to spam someone with wipes coming all the time but they exist and they are enjoying themselves apparently. I was just making a comment to OP about the state of the game, not trying to say one style was better than the other.

Possibly. I am sure that they paid for SOME things. Else why pirate the gold to begin with?

No, not 20 at once, over 6 weeks. The most at any time was 7 or 8. I leave the mothers outside and walk the cubs in at birth. If not for the wipe I would go count. 2 rows, 2 high, 5 or 6 long, so 20 or 24 grills. Walk each cub right up to the door frame and turn off follow and wander. Leave a path to get to all for feeding. Last feeding is at 4H 30M. By them they hold enough food to get to 8 hours. After 8 hours walk the cubs out bc they will get too big and fill the room over the full cycle. And the cold is not an issue at that point.

Yes, the difference is that some time sinks are enjoyable and some are not. I find this new gold grind to not be enjoyable. I'm now spending most of my time back on Eve Online & Warships. This is because I don't have a ship! ... and I, 1. find the grind price for them too high. 2. at this the grind price I would not want to risk its loss. This means for me, Atlas just became far less enjoyable. This means I'll log on enough to reset timers while I play games I find more enjoyable.

Video games are, by thier nature, useless timesinks. That said, it is a time sink to get a schooner. I believe the intent is to make it feel like your are progressing. Now should the progression be quicker than current, i think that remains to be seen. From my point of view the time played (/played) for a schooner I think it about right, for an inital fresh start. Clearly you think otherwise, so what would be your solution on the schooner? Im still asking for more ship types. (Seriously need something between a brig and a galley). The counter concern of ship spam vs grinding, is that each ship needs server resources and those resources used reduce the availabilty for other items to run on the server. You can throw hardware at this problem only for so long before it becomes unstainable. Therefore if you reduce the number of ships existing vs Season 4, in theory there are more server resources for say, a bunch of trading ships sailing around the world. But how long does that really last for? If your delayed 10 hours in getting your 1st real ship, then it only takes you say 20 hours for your next one, easily within a month you have plenty of ships (baring pvp, losses ofc) and probaly a stock pile of gold. Ultimately I think this gold grind only slows the early game down, by the time you hit mid game it just picks up as the intial gold sink is reduced, while gold income is not. And yes ot most certainly hurts smalls/solos as theu can easily be wiped and forced to start the early game grind over (which will not help the player population be sustained) @George Catcher the maps were really effd up i lost so many i lost count. It took me about 9 runs around my island to collect enough for the schooner, so i guess you could add another ~5 hours to that grind (although i was focused on basing up, preparing, finding where stuff was, farmhouses, etc (ie the "land game") during that time as well. And yes that was at about 2.5-3 hours a night. The current 10k im working through with the schooner atm are the JM remeants from those runs, so ill have to farm up more to keep going further.

PVE is a big adult cafeteria with lots of tables and sometimes a real slob will sit down next to you and they will smell terrible and spill their food all over the place your already at. Complaining to the management won’t help (usually) because they aren’t interested in reforming a disagreeable customer. Move to another table until their are done. PVP Is a high school lunchroom where if your a slob they will punch you in the face and steal your lunch money so you won’t eat there anymore. That’s why all the slobs end up at PVE.

@George Catcher So on the sloop to schooner grind: You dont need a bear for low level (like 5 and below) maps, you can definitely melee them solo. Further you dont need to go far. I was able to grind out the 5k in two runs of 4 grids (b5 (home)>c5>c6>b6) then I did another simlar to the north, so I did not need to go far. This was with a bunch of .5 to 5.6 maps. As such the only thing I had on my sloop was a chest, box, bed and wheel. It definitely slows things down if you go this route, but total play of 8 hours felt ok (to me) to "earn" the schooner. Once on the schooner things pickup since your going to go far and have bears etc (case in point im at 6k gold atm with about 4hrs sunk time, and figure ill be about 10k at the 8hour/at home port mark.) At this point the question is is it worth the time sink for a brig of about 20-25hrs of /played. To which Id say no its not. Originally I said I thought itd feel right for the cost to be about 10k on a brig, and I think thats still about right from a /played pov. There needed to be a shift in slowing down the intial rush, esp given how easy resources are now, although I still think they went too far with the brig costs, at least that 1st "real" ship feels about there.

That could be a plan, however do you know any game programmers that would be willing to work on this? I do know one but he's a little busy working for codemasters! Thats why I'm suggesting trying to pitch it to another studio. The fan base is there, the main structure of the game is there, its just really the bugs that need ironing out and the communities views taking seriously then it really is a winning game

i did it all season 2 lol, everythings cheap if you know how to do it efficiently. no ones built a myth gal because ship gold cost has become a major obstacle in progression. i stopped playing for 2 seasons lol.. sooooo long lol. regardless, im playing now and not only am i having fun, im glad they're taking this route even if its bumpy.

Which is translated to "we are desperate, have no clue, and will try to get dat wipe hype lolz"

barrels have always been around and have always been a thing. i wasn't the only one trying to maximise potential with game mechanics. but with the current mechanics, its slowed down the meta's quite well. no ones got a mythical gal yet, when otherwise there would be by now, and thats good. idk man, seems to me you're the one opting out rn and don't know what youre talking about when it comes to where the game currently stands.

We are a 2 person company, can not afford to replace a ship every day. The game needs to go back 2 wipes, loved that game!

If I only had a gold for every time I read this in a post... I could buy a ship and get out of this worthless sloop. Sadly, people have been saying this for a long time.

@lordkhan4444They might not care about it but they are more than happy to sell copies promising it. Care for a less “cutthroat” experience? Join one of our PvE servers and cooperate with thousands of other players to explore the globe, discover new secrets, and even fight mythical creatures together. Create powerful companies with old friends or build an entire player-run town with some new ones. The world of ATLAS is yours to shape! One of our servers Hahahaha.

So ....I'm stuck also. The 5th dimension sucks? Its all dark & cold. Anyone find a map so we can try to get out of here?
  26. 1 point
I don’t mind the restarting, I just need time frames. I will play differently in a 2 month season (I have to call it something) than I would in a 6 month one. I will just sail around in a sloop in a short season and kill hydras and drakes with carbines and collect stones for fun. In a longer ‘instance’ I would build a nicer base and try for a bigger boat. It’s not knowing that makes me cringe. But they don’t know so why should I? Hahaha
  27. 1 point
One sentence. Sloops are free and take 10 minutes to build a kitted one. that's far worse spam imo.

If you read their post concerning the price for ships, they said they heard “a lot of noise”. Like we are pests or their ex’s. I love abuse so I keep playing Atlas.

FFS, how the hell did they come up with that? Bye bye Atlas.

5k for schooner way too much simple at most make em 100 gold at most 25 gold atleast

I've uninstalled the game and truly don't think they keep it with just ridiculous priced ships. Such a waste for what started out to be a very potent game.
