Sure but even if the total population was relative, it could be just fine. 3x3 at 60 people could be light for some, just right, or heavy depending on desired play style. But forcing 33k+ people on a connected map drastically changes or in some cases, eliminates, gameplay elements that are desired for this game, such as bases.

Tried a croc and got an error message saying it's too heavy to tame. So maybe later they'll give us larger bolas.

I have the specs below AMD a10-7870 at 4.5ghz 16gb of ram RX580 GPU When I launch the game it pegs my cpu at 99% then once in game I can get about 12 to 13 FPS to almost 30 at times. After the last few patches it seems now I cant even play the game without it maxing cpu. Yes I have killed all non essential processes ect. Just wondering I take it the game was not optimized to work on a AMD CPU. I have no issues with any other games, even the ones that are cpu heavy.

I've been playing for a couple of days, and have accumulated a bunch of questions: 1. When we start out, we can only craft Cloth Armor. What's the next armor tier, and are all other armors unlocked via the Armory skill tree? 2. Let's say I collect 70 Fish Meat. It'll instantly start decaying, but only 1 unit at a time (unless I'm mistaken). Does this mean that my Fish Meat would decay twice as fast if I split the stack in half (2x35)? 3. Yesterday I logged out standing in my fully repaired raft. When I logged in today, everything seemed to be in order. But 5 seconds after I left my raft, it sank. What could the explanation be? Quick gradual offline decay which coincidentally finished destroying the raft just as I logged in? 4. Let's say a ship has many storage boxes in it, then sinks. What happens to the storage boxes -- do they sink to the ocean floor, and can they still be accessed there? 5. When a storage box decays, do the contents decay as well? Or will the contents spill out once the storage box is removed from the game? 6. Is the heavy plate armor superior to all other armors, or are there good arguments for using light armor instead? In example, will you sink if you're wearing plate armor in the water? Or will you run slower, or spend your stamina more quickly? 7. I logged out for 15 minutes earlier today. When I logged back in, a wolf had already killed me. Does this mean that any hostile animal can kill me if it comes across my sleeping body while I'm logged out? So if I don't have a base yet, I should probably sail out on the ocean with my raft before logging off? 8. Can my corpse be looted on PvE server? I appreciate answers to any of these, thanks!

Its intentional, so that you cant get everything you need on one island, especially the metal heavy tundra You can do trades with people to the north (if in south) of you, they need metal, you need fiber.

Knight armor should be replaced with conquistador armor or a heavy leather pirate coat with no plate armor in the game at all, this is afterall a pirate game and at the very least conquistador armor was used during the early start of gunpowder. now what would be cool is if that conquistador armor came with some cloth that covers your face that your character can pull up or down, and the plate armor of the conquistador armor shouldnt give you 100% protection to your arms and legs since its not full plate armor but just a curraise , vambraces, and greaves with a helmet that doesnt protect the wearers face but can nullify arrows that glance off it. below I have 3 random pictures just by a quick google search to give an idea of what I mean.

NOW ON TO MY GUIDE You can acquire metal from nodes of metal ore! They're scarce and can be passed over for typical rocks. They have a green tint akin to copper rotting into its calcified form, which is a turn of a light to dark hue of vibrant green. They seem a little larger than your typical small rock, and medium rock, but not amassing to the size of the large rocks. Let me know if you find a large metal node and pic it then post it here please. otherwise its just this. you can get somewhere around 30 metal per node. Metal is heavy, around 68 has me at 138 lbs of force. It can be mined with a pickaxe. Didn't hit it with my hands myself, I didn't want ruin the metal amounts I would farm. We are sorry to see you go man, every day even every hour that ATLAS is out it is getting better, I myself have 23 hours "played" but was onyl able to finally get on for a couple short hours yesterday. However from watching Company Mates live streams and fallowing forums and twitter I can see how much the stability has improved, it will only get better man. Many many tweaks are coming, I highly urge you to stick with it, or at the very least check back in a few weeks or months man. This is and will be an amazing game (heavy on the ark assets i know) and I for one can't wait to see where the adventure takes us all!

While im sure you were attempting to make scurvy a thing in the game the Vitamin issues are at best annoying and at worst game breakingly terrible. First requiring fish for a Vitamin is Fing stupid... I grew up 1000 miles from the nearest ocean and didn't even taste fish until I was 16 years old I didn't die because I didn't have fish. Second the Vitamin abundance issues are equally stupid. with the exception of heavy metal poisoning, such as silver, lead, and gold our body does a GREAT job of getting rid of excess vitamins and minerals. My character is currently afflicted with Vitamin B poisoning which i'm assuming is supposed to represent Iron poisoning... Iron poisoning is only an issue when someone swallows a massive chunk of steel eating too much steak in real life will just make you vomit or defecate NOT DIE. you alreasy represent multiple ways of dying through eating why put nutritional imbalance in the game?

This is a very misleading thread. I came here to figure out how to create a map and customize it and instead this thread is just a self promotion to your twitch channel. There's no direct link to any instructions just your twitch page with has at least 15 previous streams. I click on one of the videos and all I heard was some heavy breathing followed by "oh look i have almost 200 followers"... I mean you also said in a reply to your own thread.. " This also includes how to setup a dedicated server from scratch. " but where??? You don't actually expect everyone to go through all your past streams to find it themselves do you?

I think that at this point it is best to start in the temperate or tropical regions. This game has a very heavy survival aspect in it. You won't be doing any true pirating until after several hours of gameplay if you are playing with friends. If you are going at it solo, then it will be a real grind.

Try out unofficial for a bit. The gathering, taming, and experience rates can all be changes in the server configuration (though that depends on if you're hosting your own or if someone else is hosting it). It's really not bad. Forewarning: Try to find an unofficial with multiple server clusters or you'll find yourself capped at level 8 and with nowhere to really go. The game is a lot of fun when you can move at your own pace. There are multiple ways to play this game. You might eventually find a group that will recruit you on official, and after that, the game becomes more about war and territory claiming. This can be a really fun, RP and combat heavy experience, if that's what you're looking for. Good luck!

@Starbuck I know this is likely very RAM heavy, but do you have an idea on what CPU clocks would be needed? I'm looking at doing a much smaller grid then a full Atlas setup but I still want to have the ability for large sea battles with 150 people per server. Thank you in advance!

You do know Early Access is Beta testing right. Key word here being TESTING. That starts from the moment you click play, not just from when you get into the game. Testing their servers to see how they respond under heavy capacity. Testing how it responds to loads of people in once place. The devs will be getting data from this and analysing how they can make it better. If you werent expecting this, then dont by an early access game. The game itself it not broken, the servers are just unable to cope with the high amount of stress of such a huge number of people hitting it all at one time. Think of it like a DDoS attack. Also, regarding it "not being a new game". Of course its a new game. Its using the same engine as ARK, yes, but does that make it the same game? No. There is plenty left to explore, new things out there. Might as well class all sequels as the same game while we are at it...

Go into a heavy foliage area, lie prone with no tools in your hand, left click, you will get a minigame come up each time you left click. You need to win the minigame 3 consecutive times, then be patient and a water spring will pop up in that spot that you can drink from.

Hello All! As you might have seen, the game is not very optimized. I've made a video on how you can increase your fps / performance inside of the game. There also is a problem with servers where if they get under heavy load they will lock any clients connected to 255 ping causing your textures and server information being loaded very slow also decreasing your performance. We don't know the numbers but the devs/server admins should have anticipated heavy load and started up more than 4 servers... Just look at the number of viewers on twitch haha

Launching before X-mas = devs away or on heavy duty 200k+ viewers on stream, they expected a launch with 10 players ? use the browser for steam if the client is slow it was quicker for me, for faster installs, close everything but the steam download (for those with fairly slow internet this might be a good choice) Remember there are only 4 servers up currently 2 EU - 1PVP 1PVE 2 NA - 1PVP 1PVE Try not to rush building a raft and journeying out, take time to learn the game on the starting safeports. Your weight matters, so try not to take too much with you on the oncoming journey! The raft can't handle heavy loads. When fighting creatures remember to kite and to not stay static, move, move, move! Try to spec into a throwable or archery class.
