Feedback on claims - Food - Spawn areas
whatwhat Stormrider replied to Zoin's topic in General Discussion
I don’t have a problem with the survival aspects. I said that in the post. I am just saying that for some casual players who haven’t played ARK, the game may be a little more difficult to the point of turning them away since it takes a lot of time to even get started. -

There are a couple of problems that I believed have enhanced the dissatisfaction among most players. The game was branded more or less as a pirate exploration game. The hard truth however, is that the game is much more about survival. Instead of pirating on the high seas, most players are struggling to even get through a night without freezing to death or dying of a vitamin deficiency. While I personally don’t mind the difficulty, some players want an experience where blundering is the main focus. Most games don’t show off the unpleasant grinding part of the game, but this one was hard to accept due to how difficult it is to even go anywhere on a raft for some people, let alone build an actual ship. -
It sounds like you are in the tundra. This is a very difficult location for beginners. The best solution is to go to temperate or tropical zones. Tropical zones in my experience have been the best because they seem to have the largest variety of food and resources, but maybe it’s just me.

Balance problem with vitamins when sailing
whatwhat Stormrider replied to boomervoncannon's topic in General Discussion
The whole vitamin system should be more about maintaining bonus stats as opposed to keeping yourself from dying. If the stats are balanced then reduce the drop rate of food stat or something of the sort. If we have a deficiency, make our player fatigued or something of the sort. The system doesn’t work well enough right now for it to be a life or death mechanic. -
Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a great holiday season!

The northeast tropical Freeport zone as a very large number of metal nodes. I also believe these nodes respawn since it is on the Freeport island. Either way, I found A LOT of metal there.

PvPers wont let new players on current Isands

No, it’s ok. Since 90% of the player base can’t leave ports because of server issues and another 5% die to giant man eating giraffes, you should be fine -
Complete character and server wipes
whatwhat Stormrider replied to TIGERLURAN's topic in General Discussion
At this point, I think we all just need to give the game time. The game isn’t at a point where any of us should be playing super hardcore because problems are sure to arise. Just enjoy and get used to the game and in due time things will slowly get fixed. I for one am focusing on getting my company in order so that way when things become stable we can all dive right in. -
What is going on with preditor spawns?
whatwhat Stormrider replied to DrHyde's topic in General Discussion
If I were to guess, the spawns probably haven't been adjusted because the dev team is focusing on server side issues, so tuning with gameplay probably will not come for a couple days or more. Spawn rates definitely need fixing, I just do not think it is high on the list atm. -
Some of the islands do lack the basic resources needed to get a good start. The islands that you spawn at in the lawless regions aren't mean't to be super abundant with resources from what I understand, but I believe there definitely needs to some adjustments once the server issues are solved.

Tundra Changes did nothing...
whatwhat Stormrider replied to Omgthisnamesux's topic in General Discussion
I think that at this point it is best to start in the temperate or tropical regions. This game has a very heavy survival aspect in it. You won't be doing any true pirating until after several hours of gameplay if you are playing with friends. If you are going at it solo, then it will be a real grind. -
It is still a generally good idea to have some materials and food on your person when you travel in a raft. I would rather spend some time gathering food and ensuring my character's survival than dying and my character getting deleted due to a glitch.

Give the servers some time to deploy and for them to appear on the server list.

No compensation required because of early access. I feel like a lot of people don't remember what an early access title truly is. I know the communication has been off, but as far as server connectivity goes, part of early access is server stress test. People should expect game breaking bugs when they buy an early access game when it just came out knowing it will be unstable.

It may come in the future seeing as it might have been an original feature in the ARK DLC
